Bill O'Reilly here Friday, March 25th, 22. You are listening to The O'Reilly Update. Here's what's
happening this week in America. COVID returning in some places, America's foreign-born population reaching
an all-time high. Adults consuming more alcohol than at any other time in history. Fifty
percent of families plan on traveling this summer. Also ahead, update listeners, sound off.
But first, COVID rising again in the Northeast and New England.
The infection rate in New York City approaching 5% for the first time in four weeks.
Doctors blaming the spike on a new sub-variant of Omicron.
Cases also jumping in the UK, Germany, New Zealand, South Korea.
The CDC warning Americans that any significant surge could bring back COVID restrictions.
Pfizer recommends a fourth injection, a booster.
for everyone over the age of 16. Of course, that means more money for Pfizer. However,
there is protection in the vaccine. A study from the Census Bureau says 46 million foreigners now live
in the USA, the highest number on record. 14% of the entire population was born outside America.
the most since the massive immigration waves of the early 1900s.
67 million people in the USA now speak a language other than English.
Most popular Spanish, followed by Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and French.
The pandemic-spiking alcohol consumption, 31 states, ease drinking rules during the shutdown
to save the restaurant industry, including their legalization.
of cocktails to go. In total, a sale of booze is up 20% compared to 2019. Alcohol home delivery
up 300%. A third of American adults consume spirits every day. Record high gas prices will not
stop Americans from traveling this summer. A survey from Trip Advisor says 56% of households are
planning a vacation in the months ahead.
70% will travel by car, 20% by plane, 10% using public transportation.
Eight in 10 families have not traveled since COVID hit two years ago.
Most popular destinations this coming summer, Florida, and North Carolina.
The Outer Banks, beautiful beaches.
In a moment, update listeners have their say,

Name and town, if you wish to opine.
So we'll start it off with Elizabeth, who lives in Blanky.
Lanchardville, Wisconsin. O'Reilly, do you think the corrupt oligarchs of Russia might try to
assassinate Putin because he's causing so much trouble for them? Well, it's speculation,
Elizabeth, but I can tell you this. Vladimir Putin is heavily guarded every second of the day.
He doesn't go out much. There is definitely a threat against him in a general sense.
But remember, Russia is a dictatorship with a very strong secret police.
It is hard to get close to Bad Vlad.
And you're not going to see him, I don't even think, ever again, leave Russia.
He has done so much damage to himself and to his country that it's almost inconceivable
he would travel anywhere.
Richard in Syracuse, New York.
Bill, can you explain Lindsay Graham's questioning of Judge Brown Jackson in regard to deterrence,
incarceration versus supervision of computer use in child pornography cases?
The beef against Judge Brown Jackson is she gave softer sentences to convicted people
that trafficked in child porn.
Now, that is true.
It's been demonstrated.
But judges do have discretion, and that is.
is Brown Jackson's defense, that she saw something in the case that allowed her to give a lesser
sentence than the prosecutor's want. I don't think the judge is soft on child porn, but her
rulings should be known by every American. Tony West Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
A bill, my question is, can you describe more in detail how you would put safeguards on social and
corporate media. Laws need to be passed, Tony, by Congress. You simply cannot have powerful media
companies subverting presidential elections. And if they do, and it can be proven in a court of
law, then the people who run those media operations should go to prison. So Congress has to
pass strong laws. You cannot go in and consciously, actively deceive the voters of the United
States. You cannot censor, as some social media companies do, legitimate information like the
Hunter Biden laptop. The only way this problem gets solved is if new laws are passed. And I think
they will be if Republicans take back Congress. Jim, Savannah, Tennessee. Bill, you mentioned that
Walt Disney was not all that great. Can you please explain further? Mr. Disney, like many other people
in the mid-20th century, had arcane and sometimes destructive views of minorities and Jewish people.
Now, Disney did a lot of good.
He put forth a lot of excellent entertainment for children.
But in his personal thinking, it was pretty questionable.

I approve that message by putting it together.

you might not know. A recent study from Chase Bank says a third of Americans do not have
$400 in savings. Just a quarter of adults have enough money to cover one month's worth of bills.
Another 20% don't have anything in the bank at all. So that's 45% of the American population
that is pretty much destitute.
Listen to this.
According to Forbes magazine,
the average adult burns half his or her paycheck on unnecessary stuff.
Here are some things you can do every day to save money.
First stop eating out.
Americans spend $7,000 a year on average eating in restaurants and fast food places.
A trip to the grocery store can save you a few hundred bucks a month. It's also better for your
health. Next, cut down on your cable bill. The average household pays $200 every month for TV and
internet. That's $2,400 a year. There are new systems that cut that in half. Investigate.
Another tip, start saving your loose change. Some banks now offer programs that round up credit card
purchases to the nearest dollar, the difference is automatically sent to your bank account.
That's a good deal. It may start small, but after a few years, savings can reach into the
thousands. Also, get a big jar, and when you walk into the house, throw the change into the jar.
Use the library. Your local branch has free newspapers, books, movie rentals, classes, and CDs.
you finance the library through your local taxes. Go over and use it. Americans burn major dollars
every day on streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and HBO. Again, you can get a better
deal on those, but you can get entertained in the library for free. And here's something else you
might not know. One of the biggest daily expenses for millions of us can easily be slashed.
Coffee. Americans between the ages of 18 and 45 spend $1,200 a year on expensive coffee.
The typical drink at Starbucks sells for $3.
Brewing your own at home sets you back 20 cents.
Back after this.
