Starting point is 00:00:37 Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thanks, Bill. Here's what's happening this week in America. Unnominated, special elections, HHS firings, and some major Doge updates. That's all coming up, then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, Elise Steffinick was Trump's nominee to be the ambassador to the United Nations. Her confirmation hearing was set for Tuesday, and it was smooth sailing. but Trump unnominated her. Why?
Starting point is 00:01:01 Because of the drama in her congressional race that would have replaced her. New York special elections are a bit odd. They don't have primaries. Instead, there's 15 counties in her congressional district, and those county chairs decide who the nominee is going to be. There was such a concern that Republicans would split the vote with a unified Democratic Party that they can't risk it. So Stephanick will remain the representative for that district.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Now, there are two huge special elections this story. Tuesday, one in Florida, the congressional seat that replaces Mike Walts's district. He's now the national security advisor. Mike Walts won this seat by 33 points in the last election. Now, the Democrat running to replace him has outspent the Republican Randy Fine 10 to 1. And the Democrats are fired up and putting all eggs in this basket to win something. Even a slight win by the Republicans could make moderate Republicans in much more moderate or even Blue Districts much more concerned about supporting Trump if Randy Fine in a plus 30 district can only win by a few points. That election is on Tuesday. Randy Fine, of course, hoping for a major blowout.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Also on Tuesday is the election for a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat. I spoke with the conservative candidate Brad Schimmel the other day. He said this race is important because if his opponent wins, it will be a progressive court. And they said they will redraw the congressional district lines and draw out two seats that are currently held by Republicans. That alone could cause Republicans to lose the majority in the House in the 26th election. The Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that 10,000 full-time employees will lose their jobs. That's on top of 10,000 who already left the agency from buyout offers or early retirements. There will now be 62,000 full-time employees at HHS.
Starting point is 00:02:47 RFK Jr. said we aren't just reducing bureaucratic sprawl. We are realigning the organization. with its core mission and our new priorities in reversing the chronic disease epidemic. Brett Bayer interviewed Elon Musk and many of the Doge leaders. Elon said it is astounding how casually the government would waste a billion dollars or more. He said there was a simple online survey, 10 questions. It would have cost $10,000 with SurveyMonkey, but someone charged the government a billion dollars. They said 40% of the phone calls to the Social Security Administration are fraudsters.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Elon said if their mission is not complete, the ship of America will sink. I'm Mike Slater, Bill O'Reilly with your message of the day. Next. The best coast just got better. Introducing Quantum of the Seas sailing from L.A. this fall. Conquer next-level thrills on the boldest ship in the West, like flowrider surf sessions, bumper cars,
Starting point is 00:03:39 and soaring 300 feet above sea level on the North Star. Plus more than 15 dining options on board. All between discoveries in Ensenada and even overnights in Cabo. You've never done Mexico like this. your Boulder Baja adventure from Los Angeles today. Come seek the Royal Caribbean. Itineraries vary by sale date. Ships Registry Bahamas. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Thursday, watching the Democratic senators rough up the Trump intel people reinforces the perils of our divided country. Yes, if the Biden administration had screwed up an important security meeting,
Starting point is 00:04:16 as the Trumpers did on March 15th, GOP sharks absolutely would have done the same thing, pound home the embarrassment. That's national politics these days, but I don't have to like it. Also, hearing Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer tried to save his own butt by saying he'll oppose everything President Trump does isn't loyal opposition, it's subversive. Putting partisanship aside, you are a moron if you oppose eliminating wasteful spending, a ceasefire in Ukraine, regaining control of the border. That's a destructive point of view to oppose those things, Chuck, especially when you cheered on Joe Biden's damaging policies.
Starting point is 00:05:08 I mean, you don't have to love Trump's style, but the man is trying to mitigate several fiscal and security problems that Biden allowed. 36 trillion in debt, 12 million foreign nationals admitted, hundreds of thousands dead from Mexican narcotics. Where were you on those things, Chuck? Nowhere, man, to quote the Beatles. Yes, the Trump team screwed up the hooty terrorist meeting. I'm not happy about it.
Starting point is 00:05:36 The Democrats are. They shouldn't be. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach. me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Okay, YouTube. We want you to go on our channel. It's free. YouTube.com slash Bill O'Reilly. We got Bernie Sanders. I analyze he's a communist and what he's doing. You'll like it.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Go to the mail. Let's go to Todd Marsteller, York, Pennsylvania. Bill, thank you for all you do. I'm simply finding it hard to believe the Atlantic leak story wasn't set up by someone inside the Trump administration to sabotage the president. We don't do conspiracies here, Todd. I mean, look, I know people live in that world. That's not where we live. No evidence to show that. Thomas, concierge member, thank you, Thomas. Why is Goldberg's number in the phone of any senior official of the Trump administration? We need to find that out. Absolutely need to find that out. That's a key question. Amman, concierge member, thank you. In fact that Goldberg is a Trump hater is no excuse and there's no room for error. Isn't anyone in charge
Starting point is 00:06:46 of vetting attendance at these meetings? Apparently no. So, it better be in the future. If this happens again, and I don't think it will, it'll be unbelievable. Meg Hornback, Chambly, Georgia. Just watch your interview with Tom
Starting point is 00:07:02 Holman, excellent questions, clear and concise. I didn't know that Holman worked for Obama at one time. Comes across as an honest, hardworking guy. Okay. going to agree with all that. I think Tom Holman is a good public servant. Scott Phillips, Buffalo, New York, a question about removing illegal aliens, criminal or not. They are all criminals by
Starting point is 00:07:24 definition. They broke the law just by entering a country. They should all be removed. That's not going to happen. And I said that even before the election. You can't do it because some undocumented migrants are here on asylum claims that have to be adjudicated. That's a big portion. That's who Biden let in like crazy. And others are dreamers. Their parents brought them here, and that has to be adjudicated to you. You can't just sweep and throw them out.
Starting point is 00:07:54 That will never happen. In a moment, something you might not know. I just mailchimp my marketing. You mailchimped your what? I mailchimped my marketing with AI to create an effective marketing campaign in minutes. No, mailchimp and way.
