Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Friday, March 3rd, 2023. Here's what's happening today in America. The Murdoch verdict, Ron's timeline, Feinstein hospitalized, and bruh,
Starting point is 00:00:22 it's all coming up. And then Bill will be here with the message of the day. But first, have you watched the Netflix documentary? The Murdoch family. the patriarch of the family. At one point, Murdoch took the stand, and his defense attorneys asked him if he lied to police about his whereabouts on the night his family was murdered,
Starting point is 00:00:40 and Murdo admitted to lying, quote, I lied about being down there, and I'm sorry that I did. The jury very quickly found him guilty of killing his wife and son. Ron DeSantis, of course, number one book right now. He's touring the country, making appearances, the fundraisers, the whole thing. But when will he announce?
Starting point is 00:01:00 that he's running for president he gave a little hint he said quote so we're going to have a three month run here where i think we're going to be able to deliver more than we've already delivered and we've delivered more than just about anyone he's talking about the three months remaining in the florida state legislature which will adjourn on may 5th so that is a nice little runway for desantis to then announce his run for president see in these next three months how many more bills he can pass that would fit into his overall message of make america florida that's one of the chapters in his book california u.s senator diane feinstein has been hospitalized for shingles she says she hopes to make a full recovery and return to the senate later this month she's about to
Starting point is 00:01:42 turn 90 years old she just recently announced she's not going to run for re-election in 24 but she's not going to make it senator until 2024 so the question is who will gavin newsome the governor of California put in her place. Whoever he appoints to take her spot will have a huge advantage going into the 2024 election. And there's been talk that maybe Gavin Newsom will nominate Gavin Newsom
Starting point is 00:02:06 to be senator. Interesting. Will he run for president? A new poll out of California asking Californians if they think their governor, Gavin Newsom should run for president. 70% of California voters said no.
Starting point is 00:02:22 And it's not because they love them. It's because they don't think he'd be a good president. Be careful on the Twitter. A Dallas morning news journalist sent a tweet responding to the mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson. She wrote, bruh, uh, national news is always going to chase the trend. The context doesn't matter. She was fired because bruh is, I guess, racist to the black mayor. Even though her tweet history, she says that back to hockey fans and she said it to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Her excuses, I'm a millennial. We use that word all the time. Bill's message of the day next. You can find us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Friday, the backlash against pro-criminal leftists in office is now fully underway. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was humiliated in the election this week, getting just 17% of the vote. So she's gone. As you may know, under Lightfoot's administration, the Windy City has become a place of violent Mayhem. In Missouri, Attorney General Andrew Bailey actually fired St. Louis District Attorney Kim Gardner, who never saw a criminal she didn't want to release. St. Louis is the highest murder rate in the country.
Starting point is 00:04:07 In Philadelphia, the DA Larry Krasner is being impeached by the state legislature in Harrisburg. Krasner is openly defiant about his pathetic conviction rape. And in New Orleans, the ninth most violent city in the world, Mayor Latoya Cantrell, is the target of a recall vote, which I believe will succeed. So, the progressive left, which has badly damaged public safety all over the country and also attacked policing almost everywhere, is now beginning to get hands. hammered. The voters in the places where crime is rising, especially violent crime, cannot vote for progressives or you're putting yourself and your family in danger. It is as simple as that. If you want the progressives, we will all pay a price. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. Let's go to the mail.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Lena. It is clear to me from the start that Lady Biden Macbeth, wow, wanted fame and power over her husband's well-being. Shakespeare gets it right again. Love the reference. I said yesterday that with the diminishmental state of Joe Biden, which is beyond any doubt at all, Jill Biden is emerging, his wife is emerging as a villain to keep him in that slot. Janet, love most everything about you, O'Reilly, and you're right. Eating should be joyful. I'm 100%. It can be healthy and joyful. My recommendation is to read Ellen Satter's books, especially feeding a healthy family with love and good sense. All right. So that's Ellen Satter, S-A-T-T-E-R.
Starting point is 00:06:12 This is Janet's recommendation. I have not read the book. Anna. I have been an actress in Hollywood since the 80s. Politics was not as divisive as it is now. And it mostly started with Barack Obama's presidency. Since the 1950s, the Joe McCarthy era, Hollywood has been mostly on the left. That's true.
Starting point is 00:06:34 I don't really understand why. Maybe they believe that being on the left is standing up for the little guy in the underdog. Unfortunately, so many people here, actors, directors, writers, are idiots. It's no common sense. They gain fame and money. They can't handle it. Deep down, they don't feel they deserve it. They're very insecure, and they remain idiots.
Starting point is 00:06:58 They don't believe in patriotism. They feel America's a bad country. That is a great analysis from an actress who has been, you know, if you hang in, so she says she's been there since the 80s, that would be 35 years. You hang in that long, you know the industry. I'm very impressed, Anna. Thank you for writing me that letter. In a moment, something you might not know.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist, and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week, I'll sit down for candid conversations with Washington's most powerful disruptors, lawmakers, newsmakers, and even the president of the United States. These are the leaders shaping the future of America and the world. Listen to Podforce One with me, Miranda Devine,
Starting point is 00:08:00 every week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. You don't want to miss an episode. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might. Not no. Recent polling from Pew Research says the public is split over COVID masks. Less than 40% wear the covering once a day. 50% of Americans have ditched the masks all together. So the question becomes, do masks actually work? Here are the facts. A recent review of global studies released by Health magazine finds that COVID masks have little to no impact at all. Writes the report, quote, wearing masks in the community probably makes little or no difference to the outcome of confirmed cases of COVID-19 compared to not wearing masks, unquote.
Starting point is 00:09:04 The study divides the mass into four separate categories. categories. Surgical, KN95, N95, and cloth. Both surgical and cloth provide virtually no protection. They can stop splatter, but not airborne illness. The 95 masks can prevent a person from contracting COVID, but must be worn at all times to offer levels of protection. Despite the scientific consensus about masks, the CDC still recommends that we cover our faces in crowded spaces. The agency's website urges everyone over the age of two to wear masks when traveling, attending crowded events and family gatherings. And here's something else you might not know. For some Americans, the mask may never come off.
Starting point is 00:09:59 8% of Americans say they plan on covering their faces for the rest of their lives, and they are not all bank robbers. Doctors say overmasking, however, can cause health problems. The protective gear can weaken your immune system, cause respiratory illness, and reduce blood oxygen levels. For children, the mask is now linked to decreasing. learning, lack of social skills, even depression among teenagers. Full disclosure, I do not wear the mask any longer. I did, but reluctantly, but I'm not sorry I wore it. Back after this.
