Starting point is 00:00:47 Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, President Trump wrote on truth social, Shalom Hamas. means hello and goodbye you can choose. Release all the hostages now, not later, and immediately return all the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is over for you. Only sick and twisted people keep bodies, and you are sick and twisted. I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job. Not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don't do as I say. I've just met with your former hostages whose lives you have destroyed. This is your last warning. For the leadership,
Starting point is 00:01:20 now is the time to leave Gaza while you still have a chance. Also, to the people of Gaza, a beautiful future awaits, but not if you hold hostages. If you do, you are dead. Make a smart decision. Release the hostages now or there will be held to pay later. Donald J. Trump, president of the United States of America. The vice president said, J.D. Vance, Pete Hegstath, and Tulsi Gabbard, director of national intelligence, met at the border in Eagle Pass, Texas. They arrived the day after Trump imposed that 25% tariff on nearly everything important from Mexico. The vice president said, what the president said is we need a sustained commitment from the government of Mexico to take the job of border security
Starting point is 00:01:56 seriously. Fetanol is the single largest cause of death among young Americans. He explained how the precursors come from China and then are manufactured in Mexico and brought across the border by the cartels. J.D. said we are going to apply as much leverage as possible to the Mexican government. The head of the VA, Doug Collins said that Veterans Affairs is planning on cutting 15% of their workforce. It's about 72,000 employees. He said, we regret anyone who loses their job. And it's extraordinarily difficult for me as a VA leader and your secretary to make these types of decisions. But the federal government does not exist to employ people. It exists to serve people. Collins also said the agency will save $900 million from nearly 600
Starting point is 00:02:37 canceled non-mission critical contracts. Mohamed Serafula, the terrorist behind the 2021 Abbey Gate suicide bombing at the airport in Kabul during the Afghanistan withdrawal, has been caught and extradited to the United States. Donald Trump announced this in the middle of a state of the Union address that this terrorist was in route as he spoke. This attack killed 13 American service members and 170 Afghans. The new director of the CIA said he shared intel with Pakistan who worked with America to capture and extradite the terrorist.
Starting point is 00:03:09 This attack, of course, happened when Joe Biden was president. He vowed revenge for the attack. He said, we will not forgive, we will not forget, we will hunt you down and make you pay. The current CIA director gave this intel to Pakistan on a six. second day on the job. On this Thursday, President Trump's record-breaking speech this week had some history in it.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Longest congressional address ever. Taunting his opposition, that was unusual, and warning a foreign country, Panama, that is going to look. lose some of its territory to the USA was unprecedented. At least Trump is giving Greenland a say in its destiny, I guess. Overall, if Mr. Trump's promises turn out to be true, he will assemble quite a legacy. But that's a huge if.
Starting point is 00:04:41 The most entertaining display on Tuesday evening was watching Democrats try to outloathe each other when it came to the president. I almost laughed out loud when Mr. Trump said, Pocahontas wants the Ukrainian war to go on for five more years. Cut to Senator Elizabeth Warren laughing and waving. Bizarre? Very. President Trump says his administration will bring peace and prosperity. That woke is finished.
Starting point is 00:05:17 That common sense will rule. As an American, I hope all of that comes true. But even if it does, I know one thing. Pocahontas and her tribe will not like it. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mail, William. Democrats have shown their true colors by voting against the Women in Sports Protection Act. Only two Democrats voted for it. Absolutely true. If you are okay with that, and that woman last night, Peyton, I'll never forget her. Brain injury from this, and you're still supporting that?
Starting point is 00:06:05 Wow. Maureen, someone in light me, how are Democrats blocking the no men in sports of the GOP as both the Senate and House majority? Because in the Senate, you cannot advance a bill to the floor unless you get 60 votes. It's different from the House. That's the rules. Dr. Paul Bufanis, it appena, Brazil. Are the administration's efforts to engage Putin in peace talks leading us toward appeasement? No, I don't think it's appeasement.
Starting point is 00:06:39 It's stop. Stop. I don't think that Putin's going to get a car to do other bad stuff. I could be wrong. They want to stop it at this point in history. Robert Slaney, Port Washington, New York. Today's world does the USA need to be a member of NATO. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:03 We need support against the bad guys. Irene Donald, Bedford, Mexico. I live in Baja, and I see the heightened presence by Mexican Army. I'm not sure what it means. It means that finally, the Mexican government is trying to stop some of the migration. I don't think they're stopping the drug traffic, but they're trying to stop the migration because they're afraid of Trump, Irene. Be safe down there. It isn't safe.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Jason Vaz, Katori, Japan. I have to wonder why President Zelensky did not choose to use an interpreter while speaking to President Trump. I thought it was an unwritten rule that foreign dignitaries do that. Now, Zolonezky speaks English fairly well. He didn't even interpret it. In a moment, something you might not know. The best coast just got better. Introducing Quantum of the Seas sailing from L.A. this fall.

Forty-four years ago this evening, the anchor of the CBS
Starting point is 00:08:35 signature news program signed off for the final time. Over the span of two decades, the journalist had earned his nickname, The Most Trusted Man in America. Here is the story of Walter Kronkite. Born November, 1916 in Missouri, the broadcaster began his career reporting from Europe during World War II. He covered the 1952 and 56 presidential elections, then the Olympic Games. Kronkai took over as the CBS anchor in April 1962. For the next 19 years, he delivered the news during some of the most significant events in American history. Cuban missile crisis, assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Robert Kennedy, the lunar landing, war in Vietnam, Watergate. Uncle Walter, as he was known, relinquished the anchor's chair at the age of 65, but only because,
Starting point is 00:09:34 CBS mandated retirement at that age. He later told me in an interview that handing the anchor chair to Dan rather was a mistake. Cronkite said he should have fought harder to keep the job for a few more years. On March 6, 1981, Cronkite said goodbye. This is my last broadcast as the anchorman of the CBS Evening News. For me, it's a moment for which I long have planned, but which nevertheless comes with some sadness. For almost two decades, after all, we've been meeting like this in the evenings, and I'll miss that.
Starting point is 00:10:14 But those who have made anything of this departure, I'm afraid have made too much. This is but a transition of passing of the baton. A great broadcaster and gentleman, Doug Edwards, preceded me in this job, and another, Dan Rather, will follow. Walter Cronkai remained in public life writing a syndicated column hosting the Kennedy Center honors. He died in 2009 at the age of 92, and here's something else you might not know. Despite his serious reputation, Kronkite often made appearances on entertainment programs. Throughout the years, he can be seen on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Murphy Brown, another comedy, The Simpsons.
Starting point is 00:10:56 Walter also makes a brief appearance in the James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies. Kronkite, Walter Kronkite. Back after this.
