Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It is Friday.
May 12th, 2023.
Here's what's happening today in America.
Marine charged.
Gun law struck down.
Flag defaced and moms rejected.
All coming up.
Then Bill will be here with your message of the day.
But first, that 24-year-old former Marine who put Jordan Neely, that Michael Jackson
impersonator in a chokehold on the subway in New York City, he is now charged with second
degree manslaughter. Now, Jordan Neely has been arrested 42 times. His most recent was a felony
assault charge, attacked a 67-year-old woman. And the judge told him that if you want to avoid
jail time, you can spend 15 months in some treatment, drug treatment. And he said, yeah, I'll do it.
And he left after 13 days. And that's why there was a warrant out for his arrest. Originally, the
activist said that he was just yelling because he was hungry and thirsty, wasn't threatening
anyone. But now NBC in New York City is reporting that an eyewitness said he was screaming,
I'll hurt anyone on this train. There was a federal law that said you must be 21 to buy a
handgun. Well, that law was just struck down by a federal judge in Virginia. The judge was nominated
by H.W. Bush. He said the government did not present any evidence supporting age-based restrictions
on the purchase or sale of firearms from the colonial era founding or early republic.
Because the statute and regulations in question are not consistent with our nation's history
and tradition, they therefore cannot stand.
The new word for a homeless person, you may have noticed, is an unhoused individual.
Well, the New York Daily News had a headline about a homeless man.
What did he do to be characterized as homeless and not unhoused?
Well, he defecated on an eligible.
LGBTQ pride flag and wiped his behind with a different pride flag at a Manhattan restaurant.
The restaurant owner said this was a total hate crime.
He could have gone to Popeyes or McDonald's around the corner.
He could have used napkins.
The owner also said, we support everyone no matter what kind of background, race, or lifestyle.
But not his lifestyle, I guess.
So in America, you can burn the American flag, but don't you dare touch this one.
I'm going to say a very bigoted thing right now.
I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day.
A school in Toronto,
sixth graders came up with a message
that they put on the sign
in the front of the school.
Life does not come with a manual.
It comes with a mom.
Very nice.
Well, they took it down
because the sentiment
does not take into account
to kids with two dads.
The school said upon feedback,
we recognize this quote
does not reflect the inclusivity
of our community.
Super lame.
Hope you have a great Mother's Day.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On his Friday, a California committee
considering reparations has recommended that each African American living in the Golden State
receive as much as $1.2 million in taxpayer money. That report now goes to the state
legislature for consideration. This continues the extreme leftist's view that all working
Americans should be punished for the evil institution of slavery. Well, this is wrong on every level.
First off, Americans today are not responsible for the heinous slave industry. Secondly,
almost 700,000 union soldiers were killed or wounded fighting to end slavery in the Civil War.
Are their ancestors entitled to reparations?
The British Crown confiscated my family's farm in County Cavan, Ireland, leading to generational suffering.
Should I demand payments from London?
Almost every family on earth has been victimized in some way.
Historically, it has been more difficult for black Americans to succeed economically in this country.
Fact.
But the USA has spent trillions over the years in an effort to make amends.
So no to reparations.
It's unfair.
And the California governor, Gavin Newsom, knows it.
he is not likely to back reparations because someday he wants to run for president.
And he knows Americans do not want reparations.
I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.

Name in town if you wish to opine.
All right, let's go to the mail, Don.
Hey, Bill, regarding the foreign payments to the Biden family,
suspicious activity, these events occurred before and apparently during the time.
Bill Barr was Attorney General.
Was this information hidden from the public by Barr?
No, because it broke when the Hunter Biden laptop was discovered.
And that was during Biden's term.
So Barr didn't have anything to do with it.
I doubt Hunter Biden.
This is from Al.
I doubt whether Hunter Biden or other members of his family pay any price for their criminal actions.
Not so fast, Al.
due process.
Hunter Biden is done.
He's going to get convicted.
He'll plead guilty.
Joe, looks bad.
We've got to wait.
More evidence is needed.
Robert, concierge member,
as I watch a press conference on Biden,
I firmly believe the man and his family are corrupt.
That is your right to believe that.
My question is,
Biden was Vice President Obama
had to know what he was doing.
No, he didn't have to know.
President and Vice President, they're not even in the same building.
So I wouldn't go to that extent.
Jan Kubris, concierge member, Jan, thank you.
Hey, Bill, why would they go solely for civil charges against Trump and not criminal charges?
Because you could have never, ever convicted Trump of rape when the woman didn't even know what year it happened.
And neither did her two friends who she told about it allegedly.
Come on.
I mean, it was, you could punch holes in that case all day long, all day long.
Tom Spurlock, Yorba Linda, California, John Wick mentality, that's correct.
Sociological grooming promotes mass chaos.
The mental acceptance of anarchy is needed to promote chaos.
That is the Marxist playbook.
You're right.
They want to bring the country down, the far left.
In a moment, something you might not know.
Now, the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
86 years ago today, a baby was born in New York City to Irish immigrant parents.
By his 35th birthday, he would be the most controversial comedian in the world.
Here is the story of George Carlin.
After dropping out of high school, young George joined the Air Force.
He began his comedy career in the 1950s as a radio DJ.
His early act was non-political, featuring characters like the hippie-dippy weatherman and the wonderful wino.
In the early 1970s, Carlin transformed himself into an anti-establishment icon.
He grew his hair and beard, then swapped the suit and tie for a t-shirt and torn jeans.
George's new persona focused on the growing counterculture.
He criticized politicians, religion, and American society in general.
In 1972, Carling created the most controversial stand-up act of all time.
The monologue was titled, The Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,
in which he said, seven dirty words.
Sometimes it's okay, but not all the time.
And they're the only words that seem to have that restriction.
I mean, there are a lot of words you can say whenever you want, you know, pneumonia!
Nobody gives you a lot of it.
All right, you can't yell it in the hospital a great deal, but what the hell?
There are words that you can say, no problem, topography!
No one has ever gone to jail for screaming topography.
But there are some words that you can go to jail for.
There are some words that we just have decided we will not say all the time.
If you can believe it, Carlin was arrested for performing that routine in Milwaukee and
Manhattan.
A New York radio station was fined by the FCC for broadcasting the act.
The case ultimately ended up in the Supreme Court.
The justices ruled that the federal government does have the authority to limit obscene speech
on public airways, and that decision still applies to this day.
George Carlin remained a prominent figure throughout the 1980s and 90s.
Some say he was the most important comedian of the 20th century.
Carlin died, June 22nd, 2008 at the age of 71, from heart failure.
But today we say, happy birthday, George Carlin.
Back after this.
Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines.
