Bill O'Reilly here, Tuesday, May 14th, 2019. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update, and here's what's
happening today in America. Attorney General Barr appointing a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of
the Russia-Trump collusion investigation. President Trump says the U.S.-China trade agreement was
95 percent done before talks collapsed. New York's Mayor de Blasio mocked.
at his Green New Deal rally inside Trump Tower. Congresswoman Talib under fire for another controversial
comment regarding the Holocaust. And the Supreme Court hands a huge defeat to Apple. Also coming up,
my message of the day is the press dead. But first, Attorney General Barr has appointed a top
investigator to probe the origins of the Russia-Trump collusion allegations to determine
whether American intelligence agencies acted in a, quote, lawful and appropriate manner
when secretly surveilling the Trump campaign during the 2016 race for the White House.
President Trump not backing down from his threats to impose stiff penalties on China,
saying his administration may add an additional bunch of tariffs on more than $325 billion
worth of Chinese goods.
The president telling reporters, the U.S.-China trade deal was 95 percent.
done before Beijing abruptly walked away from the negotiation. New York City Mayor de Blasio
mocked at his climate change protest inside Trump Tower on Monday, dozens of demonstrators chanting
Trump 2020 and worst mayor ever as de Blasio stood beneath the golden escalator used by Donald Trump
who announced his 2016 campaign for the White House. Controversial Congresswoman Rashida Talib once again,
under fire for making a series of insensitive remarks regarding the Holocaust, the far-left legislator
telling a podcast that she gets a, quote, calming feeling when thinking that her ancestors
helped Jews in Palestine. But her message was garbled. President Trump weighing in on the
controversy saying, can you imagine what would happen if I ever said what she said? The Supreme Court
handed a major defeat to computer giant Apple this week. Court decided users can now
sue the company over their app stores inflated prices. Ruling the software included on every iPhone
sold across the world constitutes a monopoly. Judge Brett Kavanaugh sided with the liberal judges
on the court pending the official opinion for the 5-4 decision. Coming up, my message of the day.
Hey, Bill O'Reilly here, I'm excited to announce the first ever cruise through history taking place next
spring. The cruise will definitely be different, great food and activities, of course, but we'll also
take you back in time to the foundations of our faith, our freedom, and human progress. It's the
opportunity to share your values, your beliefs, and the things you hold dear, with the ones
you hold dear. The cruise will sail the Mediterranean out of Venice, Italy. There are four different
options, but basically the cruise will begin in Venice, then sail to the eastern Mediterranean,
visiting Croatia, Greece, and Israel.
Glenn Beck will be our cruise director.
You can walk where Jesus and the prophets walk.
In the Holy Land, guided every step of the way.
Beck and I will be doing a couple of shows together,
one at sea, the other in Israel.
The shows will also feature David Barton, Rabbi Lepin, and Stu.
This is a once-in-a-life-experience.

Time now for the O'Reilly update message of the day.
Did the American press kill itself with all the hatred towards President Trump and promoting PC madness?
Columnist Victor David Hanson says yes, and I agree with him to some extent.
Hansen writes, quote, journalism is now dead.
Reporters today believe their coverage serves higher agendas of.
social justice, identity politics, equality, and diversity. To the degree a story is expanded,
praised, or ignored depends on its supposed utility to the effort to fundamentally transform the
country into something unlike its founding. In other words, Hansen is saying the press is not
interested in finding out the truth any longer, but is interested and invested in changing
America, which many a journalist believe is flawed. Case in point, getting rid of Donald Trump.
Now, when I was studying for a master's degree in broadcast journalism at Boston University in the
mid-1970s, the dictum there was to get the facts that lead to the truth of all.
stories. And we were taught and directed to do that. And when we handed in papers or articles we had
been assigned and the facts did not stand up, we got a bad grade. The first actual news story I
covered was forced busing into South Boston. It was a horrendous situation. The federal government
ruled that integration must be done at the point of a gun, that black children had to be put
on buses from far away and take it into white neighborhoods where they would attend classes.
It was unfair to all the children. The African American kids were frightened. Their faces,
masks of fear as I stood there and watched them get off the bus to the insults of white people
who did not want them in their neighborhood. It was a horrendous story. I covered the story
in a factual way. I did not inject one side or the other. I did not put favoritism. I did not make any
comments about what was obviously wrong. That was not my job. My job was to report the news,
and I did. I still have that article I wrote, and I am very proud of it. Then I began my career.
I worked my way up from starting in Scranton, Pennsylvania, all the way up to CBS News and
ABC News on the national level. I saw a lot of things there, and I have written about them
in various books. But my job was to report the facts, and that's what I did. And I was a hard
worker, therefore I got promoted up, up, up, and finally took over the position of commentator,
I was allowed to give my opinion. Now I am writing a book called The United States of Trump.
It is a history book. It is a factual book. There are no anonymous sources in the book.
And it was a horrendous undertaking because most of the stuff written about Donald Trump is
untrue. So, the press in America is on life support, if not dead already. And it's their own
fall. For more commentary, please go to Bill O'Reilly.com, where you can see me every night.
We'll be back in a moment with something you might not know about college.
My friend Glenn Beck launched real estate agentsitrust.com for a very simple reason to help you
sell your home for top dollar as quickly as possible. His team quickly realized there are three
keys to success. One, selling or buying a home is very complicated process.
and difficult to navigate. So choose agents with a long track record of success. No part-time or
inexperienced agents in their network. Two, market value for your home cannot be calculated
using computer models. It takes years of expertise to evaluate your market and to price your home
to sell quickly for top dollar. Beck's agents are experts in your neighborhood. And three,
home sellers most genuinely like the agent. They choose to trust.
their home too. That's why we select agents who are fans like you. They do business like you
and they share your value. Real estate agentsitrust.com was started to help you buy or sell your home
fast. Get moving with real estate agents.Itrust.com. Real estate agents I trust.com. And now the O'Reilly
update brings you something you might not know. Millions of young Americans are told every year they should go
to college to enjoy a meaningful and productive life. The pressure can start at a very early age
and continue through high school, but with rising costs, a booming job market and far-left activists
dominating some campuses, what is the real state of college life in America today? On Monday,
actress Felicity Huffman pleaded guilty to a scheme that involved years of cheating on her
daughter's school exams and even staging a mental illness to gain more time.
to take standardized tests. The actress also paid $15,000 to a person who cheated for her daughter,
so the girl could get into a better college. Felicity Huffman now faces four months in prison
for her crime. She'll be sentenced in a few weeks. The widening scandal includes at least 50
American parents who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to place their children in colleges
where they should not have been admitted. The scheme went so far as to digitally put images
of kids onto high school athletic teams for sports they never even played. How have we gotten to
this point? Well, statistics show that 70% of high school students enroll in full-time college
within months of graduation. That number was just 45% back in 1960 and was far less for women
than men. Cost is another major factor contributing to the hysteria surrounding campus life.
The average price of tuition in America in 2019 for a private college, $34,000.
For public colleges, it's more than $10,000.
In 1960, the median price to attend law school was just $475 per year.
The issue has become a campaign theme.
Candidates like Bernie Sanders calling for debt-free tuition and a student loan forgiveness program.
That's certainly an attractive offer for young voters, saddle with thousands of dollars in debt.
Years ago, a college degree was a first-class ticket to the American middle class.
Now, millions of families are deciding of a four-year degree is the right choice for their children.
The pressure, the price, the far-left campus culture that dominates college life,
many Americans are now asking themselves, is it really worth it?
We'll be right back, but first.

yourself and the people you love. That's why I'm happy to tell you about a company I recommend
