Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update, sponsored by Tax Network USA. America's number one choice for tax resolution. Please go to TNUSA.com slash bill or call 800-245-6-0-0. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. Here's what's happening today in America.
Starting point is 00:00:30 get cocky primaries today. Frat boys for the win and a random walk-by punching. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, Trump is now leading in six key swing states. New York Times poll. Nevada trumps up by 13. Georgia, Trump up by nine.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Arizona trumps up six. Pennsylvania trumps up three. Wisconsin Trump is up one. Trump is up seven in Michigan, almost outside of the margin of error. And it was Freed Sakari on CNN yesterday who said that these polls. often undercount Trump's support. But we still got time. Let's not get too cocky.
Starting point is 00:01:05 The New York Times profiled a man from Nevada who said, he voted for Biden last election. He said it's concerning for me when I keep seeing press come out of the White House where they keep saying the economy's good. It's really weird because I'm paying more on taxes and more on groceries and more on housing and more on fuel. So that doesn't feel good. Got some primaries across the country today.
Starting point is 00:01:24 The big race in West Virginia is the governor's primary. The Maryland Senate race, also the second congressional district. That's the one that will have some potential national implications because that seat, whoever wins that in the presidential election, gets one electoral college delegate. Today's primary could give us some insight in how that might look coming up in November. Polls closed tonight in West Virginia at 7.30, Maryland at 8 and Nebraska at 9 o'clock Eastern. The University of North Carolina Board of Trustees cut funding for all DEI programs. and gave all that money to the police.
Starting point is 00:02:00 $2.3 million, the diversity office is now gone. This is after all the pro-Hamas-Palestine rallies on campus where they took down the American flag and put up the Palestinian flag. The second time they tried to do that, a bunch of frat brothers held up the American flag to keep it from touching the ground. The board of trustees met and said,
Starting point is 00:02:19 yeah, no more money for all this DEI nonsense. Actor Steve Boshemi was walking down the street in Midtown Manhattan and someone punched him in the face. This happens way too frequently in New York City. It was on a Wednesday at 1148, punched in the face by a random guy. It was transported the hospital. He's in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Reminder that there's a whole genre of TikTok and Instagram videos that women make after they were just punched in the face as they were walking down the street. I'm Mike Slater from the podcast Politics by Faith. The great Bill O'Reilly. He has your message of the day. Next. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold.
Starting point is 00:03:09 That's why I protected my savings with physical gold and silver. Theroux, the only dealer I trust, American Hartford Gold. And you can do this. Starting point is 00:03:49 bill to 998899. Again, that's 866-326-5576-5576 or text bill to 998899. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Tuesday, the New Jersey State Police report nearly 100,000 human beings showed up for a Trump rally in the aptly named Wildwood Town on Saturday. To quote Hyman Roth to Michael Corleone and Godfather, too, what does this tell you, Michael? Well, a number of things. First, President Biden couldn't get that kind of a crowd,
Starting point is 00:04:31 even if he forgave everyone's credit card debt who showed up. Secondly, New Jersey's a blue state. It's not Texas. So a Republican candidate scoring there is significant. Then there's a bogus New York City trial. Does it seem to have held the crowd back? Does it? If Stormy Daniels was performing in South Jersey, how many would have shown up?
Starting point is 00:04:55 Maybe her cat. And how about Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg? Do you think he would draw a crowd? Donald Trump is actually winning the pre-election, despite the corrupt forces arrayed against him. It is kind of astonishing. One danger, however, this kind of rally turnout tends to emboldened Mr. Trump. He gets wound up. He may get over-enthusiastic, but most of all, he gets emboldened. Not sure he needs more bold. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can
Starting point is 00:05:40 reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mail. We got Dave Halverson, Squim, Washington. We are great friends of yours, Mr. O. Thanks for years of giving us the news straight. I have a question regarding the Trump trial in New York. Many pundits have said interference with the presidential election by keeping Trump in court is unconstitutional, and I believe it is. It's not.
Starting point is 00:06:07 If anybody is charged with a crime, even if it's a bogus crime like this is, they have to go through a procedure. Shannon Hunt, Washington, Utah. Bill, I rely on you for the answers. I have yet to hear any of the so-called smart news people talk about what could happen to the judge in the Trump case for intentionally making all of these unprecedented legal blunders. You'll be overturned.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Whatever happens, if it's a conviction, it'll be overturned. It's almost a certainty because of the judge is doing Trump favor. Guy Spano, Brea, California, I totally disagree, O'Reilly, with your assessment that Biden doesn't know what he's saying. He was always a notorious BS artist. Okay. I mean, you can disagree.
Starting point is 00:06:53 We like that. Dolores. Bill, I disagree with you on one point. The media has intentionally destroyed the presumption of innocence, but only when it suits their narrative and pertains to someone they don't like. And that's why I use a puff dack. They'll go after anybody. Now, if it'll get them clicks, headlines, viewers. Nobody's safe.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Lynn, concierge member, this country has turned lawyers into extortionists. The media into their accomplices, and mostly it happens to anyone who mentions a conservative thought. I don't believe the country's turned lawyers into extortionists. I just think they're bad, rotten people who are in that business. That goes back to my column that I wrote on Sunday. We hope you read on Bill O'Reilly.com. Frank Camito, Katie, Texas, Bill, why are we not getting on-the-ground press coverage of Ukraine's far too dangerous for reporters to be in that theater. And if you want to die, look at the Fox News guy, lost his leg.

Starting point is 00:08:37 the nation of Israel was formally established by the U.S. 176 years later, the land remains the most contentious piece of real estate on earth. Here is the story behind the Jewish state. According to the Bible, God promised the region to the children of Abraham, said the deity in the book of Genesis, quote, this whole land I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you. Archaeological evidence shows Jews residing in the area since the book, bronze age, about 3,000 BC. The land was then conquered by the Assyrians, Babylonians,
Starting point is 00:09:19 Persians, Greeks, and eventually the Roman Empire, who called it Palestine. In 635 A.D., the Muslim army under the command of the father-in-law to the Prophet Mohammed conquered Jerusalem. For the next few centuries, the Middle East underwent a forced conversion to Islam. Nearly all Christians and Jews were expelled from the territory or executed. The Ottoman Empire, Muslim, assumed control until World War won. After that conflict, the League of Nations ceded the territory to Great Britain, which administered it. Under British rule, thousands of Jews returned to the Middle East.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Following the Second World War, the United Nations adopted resolution. 1-181. The proposal partitioned Palestine into two separate states, one Jewish, the other Arab. The Palestinians rejected the plan. Israel was formally established on May 14, 1948. U.S. President Harry Truman was the first world leader to recognize its independence. The next day, May 15th, Israel was attacked by Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Saudi. Arabia and Yemen. After nine months of war, the Jewish state emerged victorious. And here's something else you might not know. Jerusalem remains the most fought-after place on the planet. Since the Roman empire, the city has been completely destroyed three times, attacked by foreign armies 76
