Starting point is 00:00:30 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, May 15th, 2025. Here's this happening today in America. Chinese spy devices. Illegal alien barely sentenced. Newsom bails on his promise. And Al Chapo's family is in America. It's all coming up. And Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, according to Reuters, there are rogue communication devices that have been found in Chinese solar power, These communication devices that are not listed in product documents have been found in some Chinese solar power inverters by U.S. experts who stripped down the equipment hooked up to the grids to check-for security issues. These components provide additional undocumented communication channels that could allow firewalls to be circumvented remotely. It's possible that China could use these devices to trigger widespread blackouts.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Back in May of last year, the Wall Street Journal reported on communications devices found in Chinese-made cranes. in U.S. ports. One Chinese company makes 80% of the cranes that we use in American ports. A 15-year-old illegal alien just outside Denver was driving 90 miles per hour in a 45 residential zone. He hit a car driven by 24-year-old Caitlin Weaver, killing her instantly. The DA at the time was looking for the maximum of two years in a juvenile correction facility, but the new DA decided to give the 15-year-old illegal alien two years probation at 100 hours
Starting point is 00:01:58 community service. It's actually happened last July. The judge just made the punishment decision. Due to Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration since January, homicides in Denver have declined 58% over the first three months compared to the first three months of last year, and nearby Aurora saw 36% decline over that same period. Speaking of illegal aliens, Governor Gavin Newsom has caved on the state of California's offer of free healthcare-free legal aliens. This is one year after granting illegal aliens health care in the state Medi-Cal program. The expected cost was going to be $6 billion. It already exploded to $9 billion, just in one year.
Starting point is 00:02:37 The 1.6 million illegal aliens who already signed up in that one year will not lose their coverage, but new illegals will not be allowed to join. And finally, El Chapo, the co-founder of the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico, has been in an American prison since 2017. He has four sons, two of them are also in American custody. Reports are that 17 of his family members have turned themselves. in to American officials on our side of the border in San Diego. One of his sons originally pled not guilty, but has changed his plea to guilty.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Possibly a deal was made that he would give up information on the cartels in exchange for keeping his family members safe for retaliation in Mexico. I'm Mike Slater. I host a podcast called Politics by Faith. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next. Ah, smart water. Pure crisp taste.
Starting point is 00:03:26 That's a really good water. It's the kind of water that says, I have my life together. I do feel more sophisticated. Smart water, for those with a taste for taste. Grab yours today. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Thursday, one of the biggest selling books of the year is a self-help home called The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Central theme is we should stop trying to control other people. and concentrate on being better individuals ourselves. Now, the last self-help book I bought, wait, I've never read a self-help book. That's because I'm beyond help. I live in a zone of self-reliance using a philosophy based upon Judeo-Christian tenets and situation ethics which require experience, not introspection. So I don't believe Mel Robbins can help me. Mel Brooks, yes, I need all the laughs I can get.
Starting point is 00:04:31 The Robbins book is similar to one based on Asian philosophy entitled Do Nothing. Same approach. Many people will disappoint you, nothing you can do about it. Don't make yourself crazy. I understand. However, I dissent. Improving yourself is important, but so is confronting miscreants. There's some wisdom in not sweating the small stuff, another long ago book, but ignoring negativity when it matters is a dodge.
Starting point is 00:05:04 One personal example. The corruption of the American media drives me absolutely nuts. I probably mention it too much, but I've been in the business 50 years and what's happening is appalling. And I'm not letting them get away with it, Mel. I'm calling them out. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mail. We got Elizabeth Hayes in Newport News, Virginia. I don't understand
Starting point is 00:05:37 that President Trump can accept the gift of the plane from gutter. Seems that would be unconstitutional. It'll be litigated. I'm pretty sure. I said yesterday you may have heard it Elizabeth, that he should just take it as a loan and then give it back when finally Boeing builds Air Force One. And I was going to say, by the way, but I can't do that. So Trump got a deal. I think it's 160 jets gutter is going to buy from Boeing. So good luck with that gutter. You'd probably get him about 50 years. Russell Towers, Plano, Texas, longtime viewer. You're by far the best in the business. Well, thank you, Russell. of you said it. When you say to the
Starting point is 00:06:22 Statue of Liberty, it has no benefit, I almost fell to the floor. New York benefits annually, about 300 million from all the tours, et cetera. I'm glad you didn't go to the floor. I said nobody personally benefits. So Donald Trump personally
Starting point is 00:06:39 would benefit from accepting this plane from gutter. That's his problem here when he goes into the legality of it all. So you can't compare the Statue of Liberty which is a gift for the whole nation, to a plane which is a gift for one guy. Trump will say, well, it's the government, okay.
Starting point is 00:06:58 But I think, I don't know if he's going to push it, but if he does the loan thing, then it gets cleared up. Sharon Whitener, St. Louis, do you think Doge will investigate the unreal cost of nursing homes? Doge has no authority to do that. Doge can't investigate anything that isn't inside the federal government. The government's spending, not private spending. Now, I understand the nursing home situation, that those are private. In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. Two years ago today,
Starting point is 00:08:07 special counsel John Durham released his final report on the origins of the Russia-Trump collusion hoax. The document criticized the FBI, finding the agency lacked any credible evidence from the start. Here is the story. Beginning in the summer of 2016, the Justice Department launched an operation codenamed Crossfire Hurricane. The mission, named after lyrics from the Rolling Stones, was a reaction to media reports that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to sway the upcoming presidential election. The subsequent investigation led by Robert Mueller found absolutely no connection between the Republican nominee Donald Trump and the Kremlin. In 2019, three years later, the Department of Justice appointed its own special prosecutor,
Starting point is 00:09:06 John Durham, to determine whether President Barack Obama, then Vice President Joe Biden and other officials use the DOJ to target their political opponent, Mr. Trump. On May 15, 2003, just two years ago, Durham released his report. 300-page document found the FBI used faulty information to begin at surveillance, but no criminal prosecutions were warranted, wrote the special counsel Durham, quote, not every injustice or mistake amounts to a criminal offense unquote in total durham did bring lesser charges against three people he lost both cases that went to court in a third trial an fbi lawyer named kevin kline smith pleaded guilty to altering emails that were used to get a fiza
Starting point is 00:10:04 warrant he was sentenced to one year of probation 400 hours of community service And here's something else you might not know. The Russia collusion Trump hoax lives on. Recently, 60 Minutes interviewed a guy named Mark Elias, an attorney at the center of this case. During the broadcast, CBS News failed to disclose that Elias, once a top lawyer for Hillary Clinton, accused Donald Trump of maintaining secret ties to banks and Moscow. Those allegations were debunked, but somehow CBS News and 16. minutes, missed that. Back after this.
