Bill O'Reilly here Friday, May 17th, 2019.
You are listening to the O'Reilly Update, and here's what happened this week.
In the 2020 race for the White House, former Vice President Joe Biden continues to dominate his Democratic opponents.
Bernie Sanders losing support among young Democrats.
Congressman Beto O'Rourke is giving his presidential campaign a, quote, reboot.
Senator Elizabeth Warren attacking Fox News after turning down a town hall invitation, and Senator Kamala Harris pledging to take executive action to ban imports of the most popular rifle in America.
Also coming up by message of the day on your rights, but first to the campaign.
Joe Biden continues to maintain a significant lead over his Democratic rivals, according to a morning consult survey,
39% of Democratic primary voters support the former vice president,
a 20-point lead over his closest competitor, Bernie Sanders.
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Camilla Harris are tied for the third spot, 8%,
while Mayor Pete and Congressman O'Rourke round out the top five with six and five percent, respectively.
Now, the same poll shows Sanders in trouble with young voters,
Support for the Vermont Socialists among Democrats between the ages of 18 and 29 has dropped sharply from 45% in March to 33% this May.
It's an important demographic for Sanders because it helped him carry a second place finish against Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Former Congressman Beto O'Rourke is planning a, quote, reintroduction of his presidential campaign in the coming days.
The 46-year-old Texan has struggled to pick up momentum.
since announcing his candidacy in March, polls in early primary states have been disappointing
for him. Senator Elizabeth Warren attacking Fox News after turning down an invitation for a televised
town hall on the cable network. In a statement on Twitter, Warren accused Fox of being, quote,
a hate-for-profit racket. Warren added that Fox would still be invited to cover her campaign,
something she could not stop anyway. Senator Kamala Harris,
announced this week, that as president, she'll issue an executive order banning the importation
of all, quote, AR-15-style assault weapons. It's just the latest gun control proposal from the
California senator who also supports universal background checks and tougher penalties for gun dealers
who break the law. Coming up, my message of the day about your rights, but first.

And now the O'Reilly update brings you the message of the day.
In criminal proceedings, if an American is found not guilty of a crime, then charges cannot be brought again with the same allegation.
That's called double jeopardy, and it's not permitted under our legal system.
If a prosecutor investigating a criminal allegation does not bring formal charges for whatever reason,
the subject of the allegation must be considered innocent under the law.
In fact, ethics dictates that investigators go out of their way to protect uncharged citizens,
so they will not be tainted in any way.
But now, the Congress of the United States, along with the press, seem to be rejecting so-called due price.
undermining one of the pillars of the U.S. Constitution. It began on social media when extremists
put forth that all women must be believed when lodging allegations against men. Never mind,
there is a lucrative industry set up to bring lawsuits claiming abuse, and many of these cases
have been found to be bonus. Nearly every corporation in America has to buy insurance
in order to fend off lawsuits demanding money for, quote, misbehavior.
Then came the horrendous Brett Kavanaugh hearings when sitting U.S. senators like Kamala Harris and Corey Booker,
along with veterans like Diane Feinstein, tried to convict the judge of terrible crimes based solely upon accusation.
Later, the FBI found absolutely no evidence at all against the judge.
but the senators who smeared him have never apologized.
Some of Kavanaugh's defenders used the words witch hunt based upon the 17th century executions
of alleged witches in Salem, Massachusetts, 19 human beings brutally put to death in the Salem
hysteria. And the current senator from that state, Elizabeth Warren, may have been very
comfortable with the proceedings based upon her lack of support for due process.
The situation is actually dire on many college campuses across the country.
There are panels of administrators hold, quote, hearings on alleged misbehavior that can ruin a student's life.
Radical leftists are usually the one supporting these so-called tribunals.
But the absolute worst is the American media, which makes celebrities out of people like Stormy Daniels.
Headlines scream about lurid occurrence, regardless of validity.
Again, this kind of irresponsibility almost destroyed the entire Kavanaugh family.
Think the media was remorseful? Sure.
Finally, even though the Mueller report found no crime on the part of President Trump,
the media and many Democrats stand by their conviction of him.
He colluded, he obstructed.
Cable news outlets continue to speculate, promoting absurd conspiracy theories and hysterical claims
of a new, quote, constitutional crisis.
Like the Salem judges, we know what happened.
We don't need hysteria.
So file the nation's abandonment of due process
under social justice or lack thereof.
And that's a message of the day.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. There's an old saying that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert.
on anything. The 10,000-hour rule has become a popular explanation for expertise, but it only tells
part of this story. Like it or not, some people are just naturals. No story illustrates that fact
better than a boy named Giuseppe Paolo. Like most boys, born into a family of Sicilian immigrants,
Giuseppe was expected to follow in his father's footsteps. For him, that meant a life as a fisherman,
As a young man, the family would work the father's fishing boat in the waters of San Francisco
Bay. It was difficult work, long hours, and the smell of dead fish nauseated the young Palo.
He absolutely hated it. The kid would do just about anything to get off that fishing boat.
At age 10, two of his brothers took him to a local sandlot where they introduced him to the game of baseball.
His brothers were amazed at how quickly Giuseppe took to the sport.
Without any practice or training, the boy quickly became one of the most valuable players in the neighborhood.
At age 16, Giuseppe dropped out of high school and made his debut the following year as a shortstop on a local team.
He didn't do it for the love of baseball.
He did it because the sport kept him off the fishing boat.
Baseball would eventually take Giuseppe across the country where he'd become one of the most celebrated players in history as a member of the New York Yankees.
His most notable achievement began 78 years ago this week when Giuseppe Paolo, better known as Jolton Joe DiMaggio, began a 56-game hitting streak, a Major League record that still stands.
