Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Tuesday, May 20th, 2025. Here's this happening today in America. Trump to Capitol Hill.
Immediate negotiations. Supreme Court on TPS. And Mayor Johnson sinks even lower. It's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message today. But first, Trump attended the House GOP conference on Capitol Hill this morning.
to try to get all the Republicans on board with the one big beautiful bill.
Speaker Johnson can only afford to lose three Republicans.
The one big beautiful bill has passed the House Rules Committee, but some changes can still
and will be made.
No tax on tips, no tax on overtime is in the one big beautiful bill, including a credit
for people on Social Security.
They can't make a change to no tax on Social Security in a reconciliation bill, so they came
around with a credit for people on Social Security.
The MAGA accounts are in there as well, the $1,000 per every kid born, sort of like a 401K for kids.
One thing that's unclear right now are the salt deductions.
Blue states, Republicans in blue states, want the cap raised from $10,000 to a much bigger number.
They may settle somewhere around $30,000.
President Trump said he spoke on the phone, a two-hour phone call with Vladimir Putin.
He said the call went very well.
He said Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations towards a ceasefire.
and more importantly, an end to the war.
He also mentioned something we reported yesterday.
Quote, the Vatican, as represented by the Pope, has stated that it would be very interested
in hosting the negotiations.
Let the process begin.
The Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to terminate the temporary protected
status, TPS, of around 350,000 Venezuelans.
Venezuelans were given temporary protected status, which means they can't be deported,
and they're legally allowed to work.
They were given this status in 2021 and 2003.
Majorcas, former head of Homeland Security, when he was walking out the door,
extended that status until 26.
But Christy Noam, when she was walking in the door, ended the next extension.
And the lower court said she can't do that.
Ahlan Arulan Tantham, the lawyer representing the Venezuelans,
said this is the largest single action,
stripping any group of non-citizens of immigration status in modern history.
That might be true.
The Supreme Court put that lower court ruling on hold
until it makes its way through the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The mayor of Chicago on Sunday said some detractors will push back on me and say
the only thing the mayor talks about is the hiring of black people.
No, what I'm saying is when you hire our people, we always look out for everyone else.
We're the most generous people on the planet.
Mayor Johnson's approval rating is 6%.
I'm Mike Slater from Politics by Faith.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Tuesday, it's tough to digest President Biden in the cancer news.
Perplexing.
Presidents have yearly physicals.
How did they miss that in February, 2024?
Takes a lot of time for cancer to spread into the bones.
I think it's safe to say the USA has had some luck.
even if Joe Biden has not.
Had he won a second term, something he desperately wanted,
America would have been in deep trouble.
The world is an extremely turbulent place right now.
His country has to project strength.
Woodrow Wilson and Grover, Cleveland,
were both infirm during their presidential terms,
but the public didn't know about it.
They hid Wilson in the White House after his stroke,
and his wife Edith ran the executive branch, if you can believe it.
Grover Cleveland disappeared to Buzzard's Bay in Cape Cod
after being diagnosed with cancer of the mouth.
President Warren Harding had severe health problems while in office,
so did James K. Pogue, who died just a few months after he left his first term.
Of course, the deceptions about those presidents could not happen today.
wait, I'm wrong. I'm thinking about the Biden mental acuity thing. I guess mass deception
did take place. Now, I sincerely hope the former president can survive this and doesn't
suffer too much in the process. My father died of cancer. I know what this is. Prayers for the
Bidens. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at
Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town, if you wish to opine.
Let's go to the mail. We got Jack, concierge member. Jack has direct access to me.
We hope you consider concierge membership. I agree. James Comey will never be convicted of a crime.
However, making him look ridiculous is worth the effort. He already does look ridiculous,
Cuomo. He's done. He's finished. Michael Swannick, Boca Raton, Florida.
Grateful for the Nostman News, program where investigative reporting still lives. We try.
hard. Trump was 100% corrected firing James Comey back in 2017. I agree with that, James. Michael.
Aside from incompetence, the man proves now how evil he is. I don't know if he's evil,
but he hates Trump and he's getting what he deserves. Comey. Jim English, Easton, Pennsylvania
is a Joe Biden cover-up the biggest political scandal in our lifetime. Watergate, but I think
the Biden thing is going to pass Watergate.
That's how bad it's going to be.
Nick Domino, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
My favorite book of yours, O'Reilly, is old school.
Nick goes on to say, now that's coming out about Biden's decline,
what will happen with all the pardons he's done?
Nothing.
Not going to be able to reverse anything that Biden had done in office.
And I don't even think they're going to try.
It's just too complicated to do that.
And thank you for the message about Vietnam vets.
My husband was treated horribly when he can.
came back. You know, I hope there is a special recognition to Vietnam vets. I talked to president
yesterday, and I again said, I hope you, I hope we can get something out for Memorial Day.
Jerry Kent, Mitchell, South Dakota. Past months, we've heard a lot about China buying up land
around the USA, and our military bases seemed like a big story, and then we didn't hear about
it anymore. Because the Chinese purchases of land go through American companies.
then you'd have to break down every purchase and every company and who's going to do that?
You're a few local things reported, but it's impossible.
In a moment, something you might not know.
Ryan Reynolds here from MintMobil.
With the price of just about everything going up, we thought we'd bring our prices down.
So to help us, we brought in a reverse auctioneer, which is apparently a thing.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
The folks at CNN are resurrecting the specter of Joe Biden's cognitive
decline despite his cancer diagnosis this week. Jake Tapper is releasing a book on the scandal
called Original Sin. In it, the anchor accuses top Democrats of propping up old Joe, who is now
fighting cancer, as we all know. That seems a little macabre to me, Mr. Tapper. Why don't we
leave Joe Biden alone for a little while. And you yourself were partially responsible for the
cover-up as has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt. So Joe Biden was definitely infirmed in
office. He didn't even know a congresswoman named Jackie Wolarski was dead. I want to thank
all of you here for including bipartisan elected officials like representative government.
Senator Braun, Senator Booker, Representative Jackie, are you here?
Where's Jackie?
I didn't think she wasn't going to be here.
One week after that, Joe told reporters he witnessed every mass shooting in American history.
After every mass shooting, we hear a simple message.
The same message heard all over the country.
I've been to every mass shooting.
On July 11, 2024, Mr. Biden introduced Ukraine's Zelenskyy as Putin.
Now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination.
Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.
That same day, Joe Biden called Kamala Harris, Vice President Trump.
Look, I wouldn't have picked Vice President Trump to be Vice President,
but I think she was not qualified to be president.
We could go on and on, but you get the picture.
It's very, very perplexing how his doctors could miss a cancer diagnosis,
and all of the above.
Joe Biden performed in office abysmally,
and I still feel sorry for the guy.
I don't like to see what he's going through now,
but the nation was misled on a level that I've never seen.
And when you factor that in to his physical diagnosis over the weekend,
very troubling.
Back in a moment.
