Please go to TNUSA.com slash bill or call 800-245-6-0-0. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It's Thursday, May 23rd, 2024. Here's what's happening today in America.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Video released. The Donald in the Bronx. Mahomes speaks and an infinitely long cruise. That's all coming up. Then Bill is going to be here with your message of the day. But first, families of seven female Israeli soldiers captured by Hamas during the October 7th attacks have released footage of their abduction. One of the seven women has been rescued. One has been killed. The goal is to pressure the Israeli government to fight to release the hostages and to remind the people of the world what Israel is fighting against. The mother of one of the women said bringing them home is not a top priority for the
Starting point is 00:01:03 Israeli government. The IDF believes there are still 130 people being held hostage, and by the way, five Americans. Donald Trump is hosting a rally tonight in the Bronx. Six o'clock just blocks away from AOC's district. I can't wait for this. The congressman of that district, obviously a Democrat, said the South Bronx has no greater enemy than Donald Trump, who is on a mission to dismantle the social safety net on which Bronx families depend for their survival.
Starting point is 00:01:32 How sad that this guy is almost proud to represent a district where he says the people couldn't survive without the government. The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Pat Mahomes, said something for the first time about kicker Harrison Butker, who said Catholic things at a Catholic college. Baham says, I've known him for seven years. I judged him by the character that he shows every single day. and that's a good person. Someone who cares about his family,
Starting point is 00:01:56 someone who cares about the people around him and wants to make a good impact in society. There's a shipyard in Northern Ireland, where the Titanic was built, and a boat just got renovated. It's about to set sail next week, May 30th. It's a 31-year-old ship. But what makes this a unique ship
Starting point is 00:02:12 is it will carry 400 passengers, or as they call them, residents. Visit 425 ports in 147 countries all seven continents, circumnavigating the world every three and a half years. Residents stay for as little as 35 days, that's the minimum, or forever. Port stops range from two to seven days long. Every port will be in the summer, wherever they are around the world. How much is this cost to travel on this boat for as long as you want for the rest of your life?
Starting point is 00:02:43 $32,000 a year, food included. I'm Mike Slater from the podcast, Politics by Faith, the great Bill O'Reilly. He has your message of the day. Next. On this Thursday, every day I get mail scolding me for saying President Biden often doesn't know what he's saying. My opinion is that his mind cannot comprehend the words he speaks. My critics say, I'm covering for Biden. They believe he intentionally lies. It's not a mental issue.
Starting point is 00:04:25 That's the debate. So let me present an irrefutable fact that will prove once again, O'Reilly's fact-based approach to news analysis should earn your trust, if not your admiration. On Sunday, Mr. Biden gave his speech to the NAACP in Detroit, where he said that as vice president, He helped Detroit get through the COVID pandemic. Now, the pandemic began four years after Joe departed the vice presidency. That's a pretty long stretch. And those words were not in the speech Biden was reading.
Starting point is 00:05:05 He made the statement up. A rational person whose mind is functioning would never have done that because he or she would know you can't defend it. The White House didn't even try. It issued a statement saying the most powerful man in the world, the guy with the nuclear codes, really meant to say he helped Detroit with the recession, not COVID. Oh, thanks for that clarification. It may be a long way to tipperary, but it's even longer from COVID to recession. Right, President Biden? I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Let's go to the mail. We got Bill. I'm not going to give Bill's last name. He lives in Missouri. Here's Bill's letter. O'Reilly, the surprise, unknown event that you keep talking about between now and the election is here. The Democrats will replace Joe Biden. Wow, Bill. That is a big, big story. Can you send me some documentation? I want to lead with that. Huge. Of course, there is no documentation. That's an opinion. Could happen. Robert Masonette, Jacksonville, Florida. I am a minority and haven't seen in my lifetime, and I am 65, that I have fewer rights than a white man. I've had the same opportunities. I didn't let you. my father's experience with racism keep me from those opportunities. Well, I am very glad, Robert, that you wrote, okay? And I'm very glad that you have had the opportunities. Dave Yoshida, Rancho, Kokomanga, California. My father was in an interming camp during World War II. As a child, I was curious what life was like in those camps, so I asked him.
Starting point is 00:07:09 His response was, it happened a long time ago. Forget about it. More people looked internally, rather than externally to resolve racial issues, there would be far fewer problems. What a good letter that is, Dave. And I hope you have had opportunities in this country like Robert has had. Kathy, concierge member, Kathy, is a direct line to me in insurance policy for your life. Check it out on bill o'Reilly.com, premium and concierge membership. Bill, I believe it would be justice of lawyers bring frivolous lawsuits into the court if they had to pay the costs of the court.
Starting point is 00:07:42 I don't believe taxpayers should foot that bill. That's what they do in Great Britain. That's what they should do here. Judges the power, if the lawsuit is frivolous, to bill the plaintiff for all the costs and the lawyer. In a moment, something you might not know. Now, the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. 90 years ago today, one of the most infamous couples in American history was shot dead by police in North Louisiana. The ambush ended years of mayhem, robbery, and murder. Here is the story of Bonnie and Clyde. Bonnie Parker met Clyde Barrow in Texas when she was 19 years old.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Soon after Barrow was imprisoned for robbery. After his parole in 1932, the deadly duo began their life. of crime. Over the next two years, the couple teamed with various accomplices to rob a string of banks and stores across five states, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, New Mexico, and Louisiana. The two were cold-blooded criminals who killed anyone who got in their way, especially cops. But during the Great Depression, Bonnie and Clyde were viewed by some as folk heroes because they were robbing, the evil banks. After 24 months of carnage, the couple was tracked to a family farm in the deep south. On the morning of May 23rd, 1934, Louisiana and Texas lawmen hid in the bushes
Starting point is 00:09:55 alongside a quiet country road. When Parker and Barrow appeared in a car, the lawmen opened fire, killing a couple in a hail of bullets. In total, Bonnie Clyde and their crew were responsible for the deaths of 13 people, including nine police officers. And here's something else you might not know. When she wasn't robbing banks, Bonnie Parker was an amateur poet. She even predicted her own demise just two weeks before the shooting, wrote Ms. Parker, quote, Some day they'll go down together, and they'll bury them side by side. To a few, it will be grief.
Starting point is 00:10:41 To the law, a relief. But it is the death of Bonnie and Clyde, unquote. For more incredible stories about America's struggle to vanquish Depression-era bank robbers and the organized crime that followed, please check out my best-selling book, Killing the Mob.
