Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
This Tuesday, May 6th, 2025.
Here's this happening today in America.
Self-deport and get paid.
Mexico denies help.
Why did air traffic controllers walk off the job?
And Israel's newest plan.
It's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, apparently, it costs 17,000.
to arrest, detain, and deport someone.
But the Trump administration is now offering anyone who self-deports using the Border Patrol
One app.
Once they land in their home country, they'll get $1,000.
Now, if that's not enough carrot, here's a little more stick.
It has also been announced that Rwanda is in early talks to take expelled migrants.
So the deal is you can't stay here.
You can go to your home country or anywhere else in the world.
But if we find you, we might deport.
you to Rwanda.
The president of Mexico said that President Trump offered to send in American Marines
to help fight to the Mexican cartels.
The president of Mexico said that our president said, how can we help you fight drug trafficking?
I propose that the United States military come in and help you.
She said, you know what I told him?
No, President Trump, sovereignty is not for sale.
Sovereignty is loved and defended.
Trump said that the conversation indeed took place.
Air traffic controller screens at Newark Airport last Monday went dark for 90 seconds and it prevented
the controllers from talking to aircraft as well. In recordings, you can hear air traffic
controllers telling pilots that the approach lost all the radars. This apparently is the reason
why so many air traffic controllers went on medical leave, saying the experience was such a traumatic
event that they can't work anymore. Controllers are entitled to at least 45 days away from the job
and have to be evaluated by a doctor before they can return to work.
Things are so bad at Newark Airport right now that United Airlines removed 35 round-trip
flights a day to help ease congestion.
Yesterday at Newark, the average delay was four hours.
Israel now plans to seize the entire Gaza Strip and then stay in the Palestinian territory.
The plan was voted by Israeli cabinet ministers.
The Israeli military chief said the army was calling up tens of thousands.
thousands of reserve soldiers. It's believed that the plan will not begin until after Trump visits
the region. From May 13th to May 16th, Trump is going to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the
United Arab Emirates. This plan is different than previous plans from the Israeli defense forces
because they plan to hold the territory that they gain after they take it. Some Israeli leaders
have suggested that this cannot happen if Hamas releases all of the hostages, which they still
have not. I'm Mike Slater

On this Tuesday, there is something rotten in Mexico City. According to reports in the Wall Street Journal,
Presidente Claudia Shanbaum is refusing to cooperate with the Trump administration and joint military
action against the drug cartels. As you may know, President Trump signed an executive order
designating the cartels as terrorist organizations. That means the USA can hunt down and kill
or incarcerate these savages anywhere in the world. The cartels are responsible for hundreds
of thousands of drug overdose deaths in America, so the EO is absolutely essential to protecting
our country. But somehow Ms. Shambam doesn't see it that way. The mystery is, why not? She should
want the cartels destroyed, and obviously Mexico can't do it. According to a variety of human
rights groups, the vicious drug gangs are responsible for more than 500,000 murders in Mexico
since 2006. A half million debt, and Scheinbaum is resisting American help. It is a fact that many
Mexican government and military officials have been bribed by the cartels. Everybody knows that.
Therefore, it is imperative that President Scheinbaum explain her idiotic position.
Listen, lady, you have a chance to restore dignity and a measure of safety to your country.
Are you opposed to that?
How about wising up?

We got, Hey, Zeus, spot-on analysis as usual, bill.
The exchange with the Congress from Massachusetts was cringeworthy and beyond reciting a script.
More like drinking Kool-Aid.
Glad you challenged him.
He didn't know what to say when you asked him the current unemployment rate.
Ouch and close is his name.
Yeah, he's a propaganda guy, and in the town hall, I had to get a little firm.
Charles, concierge member, cheers to you, Bill, for calling out the Congressman and James Carville.
She pointed out, stock markets back to where it was, and Trump is taking a big gamble with the tariffs,
but I believe this thing will work out because you want to believe it.
And there's nothing wrong with that, Charles.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with you wanting to believe that the tariffs will work out,
and America will become more prosperous.
But, boy, it's dicey.
It's dicey.
And there's a rumor that they're going to announce a big trade deal.
Trump administration this week, and I hope they do, because it needs to come soon.
This is Joel.
Can you come back to national TV?
Why?
Why would I do that?
That would be about the most self-destructive thing I could do.
We have many more viewers that I ever had on a Fox News channel.
What I want to work for a corporation for?
I have a linear outlet on News Nation.
I'll be on with Leland Vitter tonight at 9 o'clock.
I'm on Cuomo at 8 o'clock on Wednesdays.
We do specials for them.
That's linear.
On Thursday, the CW network is going to run the first 100 days schedule special with me this coming Thursday.
They're going to run it.
I got my access to linear TV, but this is a monster what we're doing here.
This is all over the world.
So never going to do that.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
143 years ago today, President Chester A. Arthur signed America's first major law
restricting immigration into the United States.
To this day, it remains the only bill to ban people of one specific nationality.
Here is the story behind the Chinese Exclusion Act.
During the mid-19th century, tens of thousands of Asians migrated to California.
There, they worked in gold mines, rail yards, construction sites.
Anti-Chinese sentiment swept the West Coast.
Many accused the foreigners of corruption, fraud, and spreading disease like bubonic plague.
Lawmakers in Sacramento passed numerous laws restricting the Asian population.
including a $10 monthly work permit fee, the modern equivalent of $500.
Congress then passed the Chinese Exclusion Act in early 1882.
President Arthur signed the law on May 6th.
The legislation banned all migrants from China for the next 10 years.
It also denied current Chinese residents and their American-born children
from obtaining U.S. citizenship a clear violation of the Constitution.
In 1892, the act was renewed for another 10 years, then extended indefinitely.
Despite the blanket ban, there were a few exceptions.
Scholars, diplomats, students could obtain visas, but were required to obtain permission
from both Washington and Peking.
In total, fewer than 100 Chinese national,
were admitted into the USA each year.
And here's something else you might not know.
Racial quotas remained America's immigration policy
until 1965.
That year, Congress passed the Hart Cellar Act
signed by President Johnson
at the base of the Statue of Liberty.
The legislation eliminated ethnic discrimination.
For the first time, immigration was based
on a person's skill in education.
As a result, America's Chinese population went from 50,000 in 1965 to 600,000 a decade later.
Today, five million people of Chinese descent live in America.
Back after this.
