Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the weekend edition of the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thanks, Bill.
Here's what's happening this week in America.
Illegal kills Republican.
Teacher sues for a lot of money.
Danger to Trump officials.
And glamour magazines.
Women of the year.
It's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, an illegal alien in Illinois.
Of course, this is where Governor Pritzker has defied
federal enforcement, an illegal alien is accused of killing a Republican elected official and his
wife. This is in Coles County, east of Springfield, in the middle of the state. Police say
34-year-old illegal alien, Edwin Pachecho Mesa of Honduras, was driving a van when he crossed the
center lane and struck the 71-year-old Michael Clayton and his wife, 66-year-old Gail Clayton,
killing them instantly. Michael Clayton served on the Coles County Board. The illegal alien crossed the
border as an unknown gotaway. Also in the vehicle was an 18-year-old illegal alien Juan
Morales Martinez of Guatemala who crossed the border in December of 2023 and was released into
the United States by the Biden administration. The illegal aliens were found with an extended
magazine, firearm ammunition, drugs, and an open container of alcohol in their vehicle.
In 2023, a teacher was shot by her six-year-old student. She's suing for $40 million. She claims
the school's assistant principal, Ebony Parker, was informed multiple times that the
student had a gun and did not let anyone search him prior to the shooting even after multiple
requests. The teacher was told by the reading specialist he had a gun. The reading specialist
that two students told her that he had a gun in his backpack. In fact, he did. The teacher was
shot in the hand in the chest. The two-year-old's mom was sentenced to two years in prison
for child neglect. You may have heard that top Trump officials have moved to military bases,
The insinuation here is that, from the left, is that there's some nefarious plot to control the military or something.
No, it's because there's such a great threat to their lives that the only level of security that can keep them safe is to live on a military base.
Pete Hegstath, Marco Rubio, Christy Noem, Stephen Miller, among others.
There's no precedent of having political appointees living in military installations or needing to live in military installations because of the threats on their lives.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
Americans have lost trust in the corporate media, and now the question becomes, is that
forever?
CBS News is being renovated like an old barn.
The progressive journalists and management, which held power there for years, are being replaced
by more moderate personnel.
60 minutes in particular will be almost totally revamped.
Another question is, will that bring more viewers to CBS News?
Not likely, in my opinion.
Younger Americans have almost completely walked away from television news as well as newspapers.
The average age for cable news watchers?
Around 70 years old.
Hello, pharmaceutical ads.
Have you ever seen people happier for having diabetes?
They even have a special dance going on.
Anyway, even if viewers do not flock back to CBS News and the others that may moderate from the far left,
it is worth at least trying to report accurately on the news, right?
Just for the sake of honesty.
The founding fathers knew that Americans had to get some semblance of reality outside of the government,
because the government is always going to tell you what it wants you to hear.
That was why journalists got protections from the First Amendment.
Well, a lot of that has dissolved into partisan politics.
Let's hope things get better.
I'm Bill O'Reilly.

All right, the mailbag, David, on the message board.
If you're a concierge, a premium member, you get our message board.
We make a lot of good friends there and back and forth.
I think the Civil War was probably going to happen
no matter what President Buchanan did.
Therefore, I award President Biden the worst ever.
No.
David, if James Buchanan,
had taken decisive action when he was first elected, okay, 1856, there wouldn't have been a civil war,
but he was a coward, and more than a million Americans died. No. Okay, Jim, concierge, remember,
why should illegals have a fair hearing no matter how long they've been here? I disagree with your view,
O'Reilly, because we're a fair country, Jim, right?
Don't you want to be fair?
Don't you want to have a fair country?
So if you're two years old and your parents drag you here from Guatemala and you're not documented
and then you're rounded up, you have to go back to Guatemala?
That's not fair.
So let's have a fair new law.
I want America to be fair.

I watch the notice of the news every night.
Thankful that you always present a clear message
about what's happening in our country.
I see a lot of things on social media
during the health of President Trump.
Can you address the issue?
There is no issue.
He went for an exam, what was it, a few days ago, right?
Last week.
And he's fine.
No issue?
And if you're going to read anything on social media, you know, it's VS.
I know it could be entertaining, but it, come on.
There was an issue with President Trump's health.
I would address it.
In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might, not know.
Two years ago, actor Matthew Perry found dead in his L.A. home.
The coroner is saying he died from drowning and extreme levels of a powerful sedative called ketamine.
Here is the story.
Born in 1969, Massachusetts, the young actor made guest appearances on sitcom, soap operas, then Beverly Hills, 90210.
At the age of 24, he landed the role of Chandler Bing on the NBC program Friends.
The show became a sensation.
For the next 10 years, Perry is one of the highest paid celebrities in America, earning $1 million an episode for Friends.
But fame apparently took its toll.
Perry struggled with severe addictions to alcohol, narcotics, and prescription drugs.
On October 28, 2003, the actor ingested a massive dose of sedatives, went into his hot tub, lost consciousness, then drowned.
Five people, including a drug dealer, two doctors, pleaded guilty in connection with his death.
All will be sentenced later this year.
And here's something else you might not know.
Matthew Perry's death is not unusual.
Many celebrities have fallen victim to accidental overdoses.
Actor Heath Ledger perished in his sleep after ingesting six different prescription opioids.
Singer Whitney Houston drowned in her bathtub while abusing cocaine.
British songwriter Amy Winehouse drank herself to death.
Musician Prince died from fentanyl poisoning, the same drug that killed guitarist Tom Petty in 2018.
Similar fate of befallen Michael Jackson, Chris Farley, Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendrix, Janice Joplin.
The list is almost never ending.
17% of Americans over the age of 12 are addicted to drugs or alcohol. That is 48 million people.
That statistic has doubled since Ronald Reagan began the war on drugs in 1982. Back in a moment.
