Starting point is 00:00:58 or traditional norms, unquote. Some House Democrats are now calling for bars impeachment, which seems to be a theme of these days. Television ratings for the first few days of public impeachment hearings, not good. Day one drew about 13 million viewers far shy of the 19 million that watched James Comey or the 20 million who tuned in from Michael Cohen. GOP Congressman Devin Nunez calling the plummeting rating,
Starting point is 00:01:28 a quote embarrassment for the Democrats. A new poll says only 21% of Americans are paying attention to impeachment. The Deep South's only Democratic governor wins re-election in Louisiana. John Bell Edwards defeating Republican businessman Eddie Responi by less than 2% about 40,000 votes. President Trump campaigned alongside Responi three times, including a last-minute rally. Donald Trump won Louisiana by 20 points in 2016. There is a new frontrunner in Iowa, Pete Buttigieg. Mayor Pete tops the list of Democratic candidates in the latest polls with 22 percent of support. Joe Biden trails at 19, Elizabeth Warren 18, Bernie Sanders 13. Forty percent of adolescents are not catching the proper amount of Zs every single night. I attribute this to the smartphone addiction. In a moment, a strange look at the impeachment follies. Some thoughts on the impeachment thing. This weekend, walking across the lobby of a hotel in California,
Starting point is 00:04:12 I was startled to see on CNN a very large display. Thank God the sound was down. but the Chiron on the screen said, quote, impeachment hearings, White House in crisis. Crisis? Geez, of course, few working in the White House have spoken about a crisis, least of all the guy who runs the place, Donald Trump. Despite the anti-Trump press ginning up, the impeachment follies, there doesn't seem to be much concern in the executive branch. Now, that could change if information emerges that Tiffany Trump, for example, was paid $100,000 a month for serving on the board of the Ukrainian Poultry Commission. That might become a problem, even though Tiffany has said to like chicken salad sandwiches and therefore might be of help to the Ukrainian commission.
Starting point is 00:05:09 But lacking that kind of exposition, the impeachment evidence seems a bit scant. A guy wearing a bow tie says some State Department lifers were worried about something. I'm not exactly sure what. American bureaucrats stationed in Kiev testified that he doesn't like Trump's policy in Ukraine. And an ambassador that the president fired doesn't like him and he doesn't like her. Or so it seems. Somewhere, impeached President Andrew Johnson uttered, Really? That quote coming from an anonymous source familiar with the afterlife. It was not easy watching the impeachment hearings that I can tell you. It got so boring that for the first time in my life, I was hoping the network would cut away from the political bloviating
Starting point is 00:06:02 and put Dr. Phil back on. If this continues, the networks will have to start livening things up or they'll have no audience at all. In the end, President Trump will, keep on, keep it on, as the Grateful Dead once sang. At least I think it was the dead, but maybe it was Wolf Blitzer, I'm not quite sure. Anyway, the Republican senators say they're not even watching the impeachment show, preferring old Roseanne reruns. Those were the good old days. The only winner here is Congressman Adam Schiff, who finally found some shirts that fit around his neck. Schiff may not bring the president down, but he has become semi-famous and is likely to get a book deal. The working title, are you shiffing me? I'm Bill O'Reilly and I approve that message by
Starting point is 00:06:59 writing it. And the tragedy is this whole campaign will not be reported accurately. Already we are seeing polls that are pushed. That means the organization wants a certain result and skews the poll to get that result. You will not see any of that on Bill O'Reilly.com. we will report honestly. Up next, something you might, not know.
