Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here Wednesday in November 27, 2019. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here's what's happening today in America. Recent polls show support slipping for impeachment. President Trump declaring acts of animal cruelty, a federal crime. Actor Robert De Niro compares the Trump presidency to domestic violence. A new study reveals nearly 50 million Americans are still in debt from last holiday season. Also ahead, worldwide reaction to my radio interview with President Trump. But first, the latest polls revealing many Americans, are losing interest in the Democrats' ongoing impeachment inquiry. Surveys from CNN, Politico, Morning Consult, have the public split down the middle on whether Congress should remove President Trump from office. That figure has held
Starting point is 00:00:58 steady since October, but here's what's new. Support for impeachment from independent voters has dropped big in recent weeks. Despite the poor polling, the impeachment probe now moves to the House Judiciary Committee. Chairman Gerald Nadler confirming his panel will take over from Adam Schiff on Wednesday, December 4th, with a series of new public hearings. Nadler calling it a, quote, new phase in the efforts to remove the president from the White. House. Mr. Trump signing new legislation making acts of animal cruelty, a federal felony. While all 50 states have local laws on the books, the bill would impose mandatory seven-year prison sentences on anyone intentionally killing, crushing, burning, drowning, or suffocating any animal. President calls the
Starting point is 00:01:50 new law a tool in combating, quote, sadistic acts. Actor Robert De Niro, launching another anti-Trump tirade, directly comparing the Trump presidency to domestic violence. As usual, Stephen Colbert allowed the slander to go unchallenged. A new study reveals nearly 50 million Americans are still in debt from last holiday season. Economists blaming peer pressure, attractive specials, and family obligations for the overspending. Every year, the average person spends between $8001,000 on Christmas and Hanukkah gifts. By the way, the interest on credit card debt can climb to more than the actual purchase. In a moment, worldwide reaction to my exclusive radio interview with Donald Trump. Right back. Millions of Americans have been diagnosed

Message of the Day, worldwide reaction to my radio interview with President Trump, which many of you can hear on this fine radio station, or go to Bill O'Reilly.com. For the first time, President Trump spoke exclusively for radio. It's an old-fashioned interview, tough but fair. Almost immediately, after we released some clips from the talk, there was worldwide reaction.
Starting point is 00:04:31 I begin the interview by asking President Trump, if you had to do it all over again, would you mention Joe Biden's name to the president of Ukraine? Because that's what started the whole impeachment thing. If President Trump had not said the name Joe Biden, there would be no impeachment. The president's answer was fairly long. I think you'll find it interesting. But one of the main points that was kind of obscured while he was talking was that he believes this whole Ukraine thing has badly damaged Joe Biden himself. And if Mr. Biden, the former vice president, is the Democratic nominee for president, Mr. Trump will go at him very hard about Ukraine.
Starting point is 00:05:22 The second big point in the interview was Rudy Giuliani. He is under federal investigation in New York City. Rudy Giuliani is President Trump's personal lawyer, and he was involved in Ukraine. We don't know to what extent there have been many allegations, but we don't know if Rudy Giuliani did anything wrong in Ukraine, but we do know that he was involved there. So, me being a simple man, I asked the president a simple question. What was Rudy Giuliani doing in Ukraine at your behalf, Mr. President? Again, direct question, and the president said, you'd have to ask him, I don't know. And then he went on to give a more elaborate answer about the former mayor of New York City,
Starting point is 00:06:18 which I think you'll find interesting. but that made news right away. In fact, the first and second questions of the interview wound up on two out of the three network news broadcasts, which is pretty rare these days for them to take an interview from someone else. The third, and I think most fascinating question that made worldwide news, was when I asked him if he would designate the Mexican drug cartels as terror groups. President Trump has been hinting about this. If he does that, that means the USA can attack the cartels with military equipment like drones. The president said yes.
Starting point is 00:07:04 He is working on designating Mexican drug cartels. And remember, more than 100,000 Americans a year die from drug overdoses, traced back to the cartels. But he is working on designating those groups. terrorists. Almost immediately, within the hour, Mexico City sent a message to Secretary of State Pompeo saying we need to have a meeting about this. And that's a message. I'm Bill O'Reilly, and I approved it by writing it. You can listen to the Trump interview later on this station. Also, please check out my book, The United States of Trump. There's an excerpt posted on Bill O'Reilly.com. Up next, something you might. Not know.
Starting point is 00:07:49 There are so many reasons to be grateful, and in large part we have our military and our vets to thank for our liberties and freedom. So here is a message about national wreaths across America Day. It's coming up Saturday, December 14. You can join in the mission to remember our fallen heroes, honor those who currently serve and teach younger generations the value of freedom. A $15 donation to wreaths across America sponsors a fresh handmade balsam fur wreath from Maine with a single red bow. The circular wreath with 10 balsam bouquets is a catalyst for unity, healing, and an expression of gratitude. What started at Arlington National Cemetery
Starting point is 00:08:40 has now grown to ceremonies at more than 1,700 other participants. locations across the country and overseas. So please sponsor a Veterans Reith today and show your appreciation. Visit wreathsacrossamerica.org. Reithsacrossamerica.org. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. It is not the holiday season until the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is up and running. Featuring 50 balloons, 25 floats, 8,000 performers.
Starting point is 00:09:15 It's the original Miracle on 34th Street. 3.5 million folks will be at the event in Manhattan with 50 million more watching from home. It's a tradition going back almost 100 years. Most of the time, the parade goes off without a hitch, but sometimes not. Here are a few memorable moments from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in the past. Back in 1928, organizers intentionally released balloons into the atmosphere,
Starting point is 00:09:44 saying it was the easiest way to dispose of the attractions. They even offered a $100 reward if you captured a balloon. Things went well until a giant tiger crashed onto somebody's roof, seriously damaging a home on Long Island. Four years later, Macy's tried the contest again. This time a balloon collided with a plane. Student pilot Annette Gibson was unable to get the balloon off the wing. Her instructor stepped in to save the day.
Starting point is 00:10:14 avoiding an aviation disaster. That was the last time Macy's released balloons. Skipping ahead to 1997, Strong Wins, sent Barney the dinosaur crashing into the side of a building. The balloon suffered major mechanical failure, causing a dangerous situation. After securing the famous children's character, the NYPD stepped in, stabbing Barney dozens of times on live television. RIP. The most bizarre mishap occurred in 2012 when the Nassau County Police Department used shredded records to create tons of confetti. The documents contain social security numbers, banking data even notes on Mitt Romney's motorcade from the nearby presidential debate, all sprinkled onto the streets of Manhattan. Not good. And here is something you also might not know.
Starting point is 00:11:12 It takes a lot to get those balloons off the ground. Macy's is the second largest consumer of helium in the world. Number one, the U.S. government, most of it going to NASA. No truth to the rumor that much of the hot air winds up in Congress. Back after this. You've been hearing about gold all over the news. Prices continue to climb. Not surprising.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Experts warning a recession could happen. But pay attention to the banks. Some of them ran out of cash last Monday night and had to borrow money from the Federal Reserve. Since last week, more than $500 billion has been printed and given to the banks just so they could stay in business. Sound familiar? Remember in 2008 when the Fed had to bail out the banks? Well, it's happening again. Americans are looking for stability and many are turning to gold in precious metals as a way to protect their savings and retirements.
