Trump has at a Senate breakfast yesterday, and he said to the group of senators last night, It was, you know, not expected to be a victory.
Starting point is 00:01:02 It was very democratic areas, but I don't think it was good for Republicans. I don't think it was good. I'm not sure it was good for anybody. He wrote on Truth Social three different posts. First, Trump wasn't on the ballot and shut down were the two reasons that Republicans lost elections tonight. He also wrote past voter reform, voter ID, no mail in ballots. Save our Supreme Court from packing. No two state additions, et cetera.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Terminate the filibuster. And finally, he wrote Republicans, terminate the filibuster. Get back to passing legislation. and voter reform. He later spoke at a business leader event in Miami. And he said, last year on this day, it's when he was elected, the American people reclaimed our government. We restored our sovereignty. We lost a little bit of sovereignty last night in New York, but we'll take care of it. He said Miami will soon be the refuge of those fleeing communism in New York City. And the president said, after last night's results, the decision facing all Americans could not be more clear.
Starting point is 00:01:54 We have a choice between communism and common sense. As long as I'm in the White House, the United States is not going communist in any way, shape, or form. We will stop it. We're going to stop it. We're going to stop the nonsense. The death toll is increased from that UPS plane crash. It's increased to nine. The left engine separated from the plane as it was leaving the airport in Louisville. It got enough altitude to clear the fence of the airport, but ended up striking structures off airport property about three miles south of the airfield. Fifteen people were sent to the hospital, too, in critical condition in the burn center. Officials say the search recovery efforts will continue for at least a week or longer.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Two New Jersey teenagers were arrested in connection with the alleged ISIS-inspired Halloween attack in Michigan that the FBI said they stopped from happening. The NYPD and FBI Newark arrested Thomas Khan Gusell, 19 years old, before he could board a flight to Istanbul. The other 19-year-old, Milo Sedanette, was also arrested. Guzel allegedly planned to travel in two weeks to Turkey and then to Syria, but it's believe he got spooked after last week's arrest and moved his flight up. American household's debt record high.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Total household debt $18.59 trillion. That's up $197 billion from just last quarter. Overall debt levels are up $4.4 trillion since the end of 2019 just before the COVID pandemic. American's student loan debt $1.65 trillion. I'm Mike Slater. I have a podcast called Politics by Faith. Time now for the O'Reilly Update. message of the day. On this Thursday, Republican voters were not as motivated as Democrats on Tuesday's election. That's pretty much the story because President Trump was not directly involved, the GOP got hammered in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City. Next year at this time, Mr. Trump's legacy
Starting point is 00:04:45 will be on the line in the midterm, so it should be a different look. The country is about equally divided at this point between the left and the right. So the performance of the candidates is vital. In New York, Zohan Mandani was a much better presence on the trail than Andrew Cuomo. Younger voters who have no idea what socialism actually is simply saw an energetic guy who promised to give them things. Mandami is the ghost of Fidel Castle. In addition, cities like New York and Los Angeles now have so many foreign-born voters that American traditions like self-reliance and competition are losing strength. Now, that's not a swipe at immigrants.
Starting point is 00:05:41 It is just a different perspective. Finally, the TV nitwits, who say yesterday's vote as a harbinger of November, 2006, are wrong. as usual. Many things will happen over the next 12 months. The country will be much different next November. Count on it. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Mail, John Caledo, Lakeside, California. I figured out why Democrats have kept the government shutdown. Their plan is to wait until the election. then open things up so they can gain as much traction as possible.
Starting point is 00:06:27 And a plan worked. Plan worked. And I do believe that's, you're right on on that, but it'll open up. Hope it does. Rob DeShano, Clifton Park, New Jersey. Hey, Bill, I know you've been providing a lot of insight into what is dangerous about socialism. And I agree 100% every election where we avoid that. socialism is great. But the bigger picture I see happening is a gradual drift further left.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Goes in cycles. And if Mam Dani fails, that's going to really hurt the progressive socialist movement in this country. Sandra Dunleavy, Jackson, Wyoming, one of the nicest towns. Bill, you do predictions. Let me do one. I think Mam Dami is setting the stage for the future. It will show us a very watered-down version of communism, so those among us who don't know any better will think it's not so bad. But it's his performance, Sandra. You've got to perform. 34 years old, they said on W.A.B.C. this morning, guy should be running a car bell. He's running the biggest city in the country.
Starting point is 00:07:45 I don't have a lot of confidence in that. If I'm wrong, I will admit it. message board sherry concierge member now i'll give you the pitch in a moment on concierge member sherry hey bill thank you for explaining the tariffs i learned so much from watching you i wish more people would so to wait and that's why we are going on a big campaign to get concierge and premium members and you guys could help us i hope you do now the o'reilly update brings you something you might not know. 13 years ago today, Barack Obama defeated Mitt Romney, securing his second term in the White House. Here is the story of the 2012 presidential election. After Mr. Obama's first
Starting point is 00:08:33 four years in office, his approval rating hovered just below 50 percent. With the war in Iraq mostly over, voters turn their attention to domestic issues, the economy, health care. Throughout the year, the Republican primary was a four-way race. Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, libertarian Ron Paul, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. By July, Romney had secured the nomination. The Republican immediately attacked Barack Obama's vision of a, quote, European-style welfare state. He advocated for fewer regulations, lower taxes and vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obama Care. Well, President Obama didn't like that at all and focused heavily on Romney's business
Starting point is 00:09:30 record. He depicted the governor as an elite capitalist who preyed on small business and the working class. The candidates held their first debate in early October. Romney was seen as an aggressive and energetic opponent. President Obama a bit lethargic and long-winded. The two held their second exposition 13 days later. The format was more friendly to Obama, featuring a live Q&A with the audience. The final debate took place one week later. The display saw both candidates finding common ground on Iran, Israel, Syria.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Though cordial, Mitt Romney faced growing criticism from Republicans for failing to directly confront Barack Obama's record on rising health care costs, a terror attack on the U.S. Council in Libya and the fast and furious gun-running scandal. Predictably, the media tried to conceal the president's deficiencies. On October 6, 2012, Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney. 332 electoral votes to 206. The Democrat won the popular vote by four percentage points. After the defeat, Mitt Romney went on to serve in the Senate from Utah. He left office last January. Back in a moment. Starting point is 00:11:05 just facts, and always looking out for you. Thank you. Thank you.
