Republicans gain momentum before the midterm vote. George Soros tries to save Stacey Abrams in Georgia. Disney again raising prices. Airlines increased fares heading into the holidays. Also ahead, update listeners, sound off.
Starting point is 00:00:30 But first, polls show Republicans pulling ahead just a few weeks before the November 8 election. The real clear average finds Republicans favored to take the House. The Senate remains very close. The economy now, the number one issue for voters, of course. Six and ten blame President Biden for out-of-control inflation. Half of Americans describe their financial situation is poor. 75% say the country is heading in the wrong direction. So you might want to do the math about the midterms.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Progressive billionaire George Soros funneling another million dollars at Stacey Abrams's failing campaign in Georgia for governor. In total, Soros has spent $130 million to elect Democrats in November. $130 million. A recent survey from the Atlanta Journal Constitution finds Abrams 10 points behind Governor Brian Kemp. She says, quote, we're just days from destiny. Okay. The happiest place on Earth just got more expensive.
Starting point is 00:01:38 The average price for a single ticket to Disney World rising to $159. And that's not the swanky ticket where you cut the line. That's just getting in. Hungry guests will fork over even more money. The Magic Kingdom now offers a $100 sandwich. which you can split it, but it's still 100 bucks. The average cost for a family of four to visit Disney World this Christmas, $5,000, and that doesn't even include a pair of Mickey's ears.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Getting to the parks will also cost you more. U.S. Airlines raising prices 20% heading into the holiday season. Average cost for a domestic ticket jumping to $280. That figure was $200 just three years ago. Travel agents blame the increase on fuel prices, pilot shortages, and fewer departures. More than 100,000 flights have been canceled so far this year. Wow. In a moment, update listeners have their say. Right back. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold.

It's very easy. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name and town, if you wish to opine. Susan in Charlotte, North Carolina, says, Hunter Biden is a grown man. His father has enabled him for his entire life. the kid never had to work, never had to accept responsibility for his actions, and has been deceptive for decades. You know, Susan, I cannot argue with you. Hunter Biden, a spoiled kid, gets involved with narcotics, and the rest is history, as they say. President Biden obviously loves his son as he should and doesn't want him to be prosecuted.
Starting point is 00:04:50 But I think Hunter Biden may face charges, and he's certainly going to face congressional hearings in the House if the Republicans win on November 8th. Leila Hitchcock, Westbrook, Maine, hey Bill, Simon and Garfunkel backed you up. They said, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. Layla is talking about my posit, word of the day, P-O-S-I-T, that people believe what they want to believe. And even if you present facts to them, some will reject the facts because they don't want to believe something that makes them uneasy. That is a human condition. But here's the interesting thing about the Simon and Garfunkel quote, a man hears what he wants to hear.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Whoa, whoa, what do you mean? Where's the woman? You can't just say a man here is? Ah, the age of woke. Don't you love it? Oh, I do. I love woke stuff. It's so, so great. Okay, let's go to Scott Banning, Charleston, South Carolina. Hey, Bill, Grand Slam, home run on your interview with Chris Cuomo. I loved how you blocked Cuomo's storyline. Unfortunately, he remained. He remained. undeterred. It's not my job to convince Chris Cuomo of anything, Scott. My job is to deliver the truth based on facts to the American public. So when I go on with a guy like Cuomo, I'm not trying to convince him of my point of view or anything. I'm trying to get the word out about important items. And Cuomo, I've known him for a long time. I mean, he let me have my say. And if you would
Starting point is 00:06:44 like to hear that interview. If you miss it for some reason, you can go to bill o'Reilly.com where it is there. And I will tell you, you will not be bored with that interview, O'Reilly versus Chris Cuomo. A bill in Baldwin'sville, New York, I wasn't all that interested in the three people profiled in killing the legends. But when I got the book, I could not put it down. You and Martin Dugard, Bill, really know how to write a book. I think so. This is our 12th killing book, 19 million of my books in print. And I know people, when they see Elvis Presidency, John Lennon and Mohammed Ali, they go, well, why do I want to read about them? It's because they influenced American culture. The way we live now, directly stems from the actions of those men.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And they were all betrayed. So I hope you guys will consider killing the legends. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by putting it together. Starting point is 00:08:36 40 years ago today, President Ronald Reagan warned the nation of a growing threat to national. security. The commander-in-chief delivered a major address from the Department of Justice where he launched the War on Drugs. Here is the story. The U.S. government has attempted to control substances like heroin and cocaine since 1914. Those policies expanded dramatically under President Nixon. On October 14, 1982, Ronald Reagan announced his plan to stop rising addiction rates and inner city crime. During his two terms as president, he tripled the
Starting point is 00:09:17 national law enforcement budget, hired 4,000 federal prosecutors, doubled conviction rates for drug crimes. Now, four decades later, America's addiction crisis is worse than ever. Here are the facts. In 1982, 7,000 Americans died from drug overdoses. That figure is now more than 100,000 people killed every year. During the Reagan administration, just 15% of adults said they had tried marijuana. Now the number is 65%. One in 15 Americans smoke pot on a daily basis. Today, 12% of adults are addicted to drugs up from 8% in 82. Half of all unemployed men in America use opioids. 70% of the homeless population uses heroin, meth, or fentanyl. The financial burden associated with addiction is astronomical.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Drug abuse costs taxpayers more than $600 billion every year on lost productivity, health care, premature death, car accidents, incarceration court fees. And here's something else you might not know. As America's drug problem gets worse, many people want to make narcotics more accessible. City councils in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, New York City, Chicago, and other places have moved to decriminalize hard drugs like heroin and cocaine. In Oregon, they did it, and it's been a disaster because legalized hard drugs spreads addiction. No question.
