Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It is Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Here's this happening today in America.
The Brown Ocean Effect.
Now eight illegals arrested.
Flying taxis.
And who is the rightful owner of the ball?
That's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, the death toll from Hurricane Helene is now at 191.
Joe Biden apparently is not acting president anymore.
So Kamala went to Georgia and said anyone with immediate needs to be met, such as food, baby
formula, and the like, is eligible to apply for $750.
and federal relief through FEMA.
How did this hurricane last so far inland?
Usually when a hurricane hits land, it dies down.
But apparently the land in North Carolina was already rain soaked.
So the hurricane was able to absorb water from the land,
as it normally does in the ocean, and maintain its strength.
It's called the Brown Ocean Effect.
Just a regular run-of-the-mill storm dumped four to six inches across North Carolina
just a couple days before the hurricane.
And then Aline brought 30 more inches.
ICE has arrested now eight illegal aliens in Nantucket for sex crimes, many of them on children,
and at least one of the males is a gang member in MS-13.
Toyota has invested another $500 million in Joby Aviation, a California company.
It's an air taxi commercial business.
Toyota now has invested $894 million so far.
Joby has manufactured three of their aircraft and the fourth of their aircraft.
and the fourth of their five certifications are in process.
The plan is to have a vertical takeoff and landing,
but fly like an airplane in the air
and be a hundred times quieter than helicopters.
They look like big drones.
Delta has also invested up to $200 million for their home-to-airport program,
which they'll be trying out first in New York and L.A.
Oh, it's gotten quite ugly here.
Shohei Otani's 50th home run ball.
Now a second fan has filed a lawsuit
claiming he had possession of the historic baseball.
All right, we'll have to cut in a half.
One man claims he was able to firmly and completely grab the ball
on his left hand, successfully obtaining possession of it.
But then an unknown fan wrongfully jumped over the railing,
jumped onto the plaintiff and attacked the plaintiff,
causing the ball to come loose and roll into the hands of an 18-year-old.
At which point, an older man wrestled the ball away from the 18-year-old.
The bidding for the ball is currently at $1.4 million.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Thursday, there are reports that Donald Trump is refusing to do a 60-minute's interview.
The scenario was that CBS News would give Kamala Harris a half-hour.
and Mr. Trump, a half an hour, run it on Monday, and Mr. Trump is balking.
Now, that could change, but the former president says, look, last time I did an interview with 60 Minutes,
Leslie Stahl said that the Hunter Biden dossier, the laptop, was not real.
And Ms. Stahl did make it a point to go out of her way to say, this hasn't been verified, and on and on and on.
So Donald Trump says, look, I'm not going to do the interview with 60 minutes until they apologize for Ms. Stahl's deception.
Now, at the time, I don't think Leslie Stahl knew one way or the other, whether Hunter Biden's laptop was legitimate, but it doesn't matter.
she did go out of her way to cast aspersions at Donald Trump's contention
that Hunter's laptop was damning and real, in which it was.
So 60 Minutes does owe Trump an apology, which they will never do.
So unless Trump changes his mind, there's not going to be any 60 Minutes interview.
But the real reason the foreign president isn't doing it is because the Trump team,
based on internal polling believes it will win the election in November.
So why take any chances?
I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.

Name in town if you wish to opine.
Now let's go to the mail.
Alan Smith, Palm City, Florida.
Vance had a good debate, but missed a chance to explain the Democrats' faulty border bill.
It's true.
And they spent far too much time in the weeds, and I'll get to that in a moment.
But the bill that Kamala and Walls are blaming for the border chaos, number one, that's false.
Number two, the bill is horrible, as we went over here.
Brian Pierce, West Boylston, Massachusetts, I'm disgusted by both presidential candidates and their VP choices.
I don't see any one of them who really cares about the American people.
They're all self-absorbed.
I can't make that determination, but I can say most politicians fit that category, Brian.

Anyone noticed that all the commercials on CBS were bashing Trump?
They showed their bias in spades while trying to look fair.
Trump people could have bought commercials on CBS.
They just shows not to.
That's not a fair criticism.
Carl Riley, Smithville, Illinois.
I watched the debate between Vance and Walves.
One question I wish Vance would have asked.
You said the rich should pay their fair share.
What's the fair share?
They never answered that.
I asked Barack Obama that in one of my famous interviews with him.
What's my fair share?
What do you want?
50, 60, 70?
They want every penny they can get the Democrat progressives.
That's what they want.
Adori Trumbo.
Alcoma, South Dakota.
I watched the debate, followed your tweets, O'Reilly.
I think both candidates did well, but definitely think Vance out-debated Walsh.
You always say candidates should stick to the issues, but Walsh did not.
While Vance did, you said it was tedious.
I said it was tedious when they get in the weeds of health care legislation.
That's never going to get passed.
That's what congressional committees are for, to hash all that out.
Don't do that on the debate stage.
It's a broader philosophical discussion in a moment, something you might not know.

63 years ago today, one of the most influential television programs of all time debuted on CBS.
It would soon become the most popular sitcom in America.
Here's the story of the Dick Van Dyke Show.
born December in 1925 in rural Missouri, Richard Wayne Van Dyke began performing in high school.
During World War II, Dick served as a radio announcer for the U.S. Army.
He began his career in show business in 1947, performing in nightclubs and comedy sellers across the country.
Throughout the 1950s, Van Dyke appeared as a host on various variety programs before making his
Broadway debut in 1959 in the musical The Girls Against the Boys.
The comedian was then approached by writer Carl Reiner, who was developing a new sitcom
based on his own life experiences.
The Dick Van Dyke Show debuted on October 3rd, 1961.
It was an immediate sensation, featuring an ensemble cast, including Mary Tyler Moore.
wrote the Hollywood report of the following week, quote,
sure to catch on as a new personality is Dick Van Dyke,
who, though he can play it straight when need be,
proves a master of the double take, unquote.
And Dick Van Dyke did catch on.
The program aired for five years, winning 15 Emmys.
Van Dyke then moved on to movies, appearing in Mary Poppins,
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Dick Tracy, and other comedy films.
In total, Dick Van Dyke has appeared in more than 40 movies, 200 television shows.
And here's something else you might not know.
Incredibly, Dick Van Dyke is still working, and he turns 99 years old this December.
His next project is a film about elderly veterans who use their training from the Korean War
to become paintball champions.
The film is named Capture the Flag, and it hits theaters in 2025.
