Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the weekend edition of the O'Reilly Update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thanks, Bill.
Here's what's happening this week in America.
Airplane crash.
Rates tick higher.
Another dog gone.
And the Airbnb guest from hell.
It's all coming up.
Then Bill will be here with your message of the day.
But first day, FedEx airplane crashed at the Chattanooga Airport.
The plane had.
landing gear failure during its final approach.
It circled the airport a few times, but had to come down eventually.
Crash landed, skid it off the runway into the grass.
No fire occurred, and the three people on the plane were uninjured.
About 45% of air freight is transported at the bottom of passenger planes, and the rest are cargo
planes that no one ever thinks about.
But the FedEx Hub in Memphis is the largest cargo airport in the world and an awesome
place to take a tour.
It's like that scene with all the doors from Monsters, Inc.
But in real life, mortgage rates hit 7.49% up from 7.31 last week.
Two years ago, rates were, you know, two.
This, of course, is hurting home sales.
Fewer people can afford to buy a home with those rates.
But people aren't even selling.
Over 90% of homeowners have mortgage rates under 6%.
So people are reluctant to put their home for sale.
Supply is low, which is keeping the prices high.
Joe Biden's dog, a German shepherd, has officially been booted from the White House.
It keeps biting people.
What the world's going on?
The First Ladies Communications Director said they remain grateful for the patience and support of the U.S. Secret Service and all involved as they continue to work through solutions.
Why are they thankful for the patients of the Secret Service?
Because that's who the dog kept biting.
Secret Service agents.
We have an Airbnb guest from hell story, Los Angeles.
month rental of a guest house. The rental agreement ended 18 months ago, the person hasn't left.
And a judge just ruled that the squatter can't be evicted. And to make it worse, the squatter
claims that the homeowner started construction outside. So fumes and other odors went into
the guest house. She claims the owner played music all night long, placed rotting trash at her front
door, shut off the hot water, padlocked the mailbox, and unlawfully entered the unit.
own hewit, which led to a breach in the quiet enjoyment of her home. So she's countersuing.
She claims that the homeowner owes her money. And the judge again ruled that this person
cannot be evicted under California law. Reason 10 million why California is such a ridiculous state.
I'm Mike Slater. Bill O'Reilly, the author of Killing the Witches with your message today.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
Democrats in the House showed the nation once again that they are far more cohesive than their Republican peers.
Not one dem, not one, voted for Speaker McCarthy to retain his job.
And so, for the first time in American history, as you have heard, a Speaker of the House is dismissed.
Eight Republicans cast ballots to House McCarthy, led by Congressman Matt Gates,
who believes a former speaker is not tough enough on liberal policies and high government spending.
So Gates won, but his party lost. With the presidential election 13 months away, the grand old party
has shown weakness to the nation. Kevin McCarthy is a consensus seeker, and in this polarized
country, that did not play well among some on the far right. In theory, limiting government spending
is vitally important. But at this point, the Matt Gates Brigade does not have the votes
to stop the fiscal madness that Democrats and President Biden have unleashed. So it is
farewell to Mr. McCarthy as Speaker of the House. Hey, Kevin, we hardly knew you. It was unfair.
He did not deserve this.
And the reason is, the core reason that McCarthy was booted, is that there is no leader at this point in the Republican Party.
Donald Trump is not really a Republican.
He's a populist.
No leadership leads to chaos.
I'm Bill O'Reilly.
I approve the message by writing it.

name in town if you wish to opine.
Now let's go to the mail.
Donna.
Matt Gett stood up and faced all of those congressmen down.
We went toe to toe with them.
One every single time.
He had quick and intelligent responses to each of them.
All right.
So Donna's a Matt Gates fan.
This is another Donna.
Okay, we have one Donna who likes Gets.
Another Dona, concierge member, direct access to me.
I'm very weary of Republicans who can't get their acts together.
Why can't Republicans take a page to the Democrats' playbook, go behind closed doors,
parked their overheated egos at the door, close rank, do what is right for the country
and the American people?
I don't know what.
Perhaps because they have no leader.
Maybe that's what.
Patricia, timing is everything.
Truly, there is no room for personal vendetta within a party.
that wants to win the hearts and votes of the people,
asked Liz Cheney how that one worked out.
I think Matt Gets is going to regret what he did,
but that's just a guess.
Ray Epfell, Los Angeles, California.
I thought for changes to be brought,
there had to be standing on behalf of claimant.
I'm not aware of any lender's insurers
complaining about Donald Trump in New York City.
So why is this case going forward?
because the Attorney General says New York State is complaining.
The people of New York State, Trump somehow offended them or hurt them.
That's why this is a witch hunt.
Did I tell you the story yesterday if I didn't know?
I'm sorry to be repetitive.
So I said to a Trump guy, every time Donald Trump says the words witch hunt, can he hold up killing the witches, please?
my book. That would be really good publicity because it's the same thing. It's what we're getting
into in a book. In a moment, something you might not know.

Now, the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
The global tourism industry suffered catastrophic losses during COVID.
Air travel hotels, restaurants dropped 92% worldwide.
Before the virus, half of all Americans took at least one family vacation each year.
Now that figures up to 60%.
If you are planning a getaway, here are the most visited cities in the USA ranked by
travel magazine. San Francisco number 10, 20 million tourists every year, but that number is cratering
because of public disorder in the streets of San Francisco. What would Carl Malden say?
Next, Boston, Great Town, Miami, Denver, then Las Vegas. Sin City is home to 20 of the world's
largest hotels. It's also the brightest place.
on the planet. Visitors to the International Space Station can see the strip while orbiting
Earth. Number five, most visited city, Seattle, then Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.
The Big Apple is a hotspot for global visitors. 30% of tourists visiting NYC come from Europe or Asia.
The top city in America for tourists, Orlando, Florida.
75 million people descend on Orlando each year to visit Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld.
All this travel generates major dollars, of course.
The average household spends between $5,000 and $9,000 on a family vacation.
In total, tourism generates about $2,000.
billion dollars a year for the American economy. That industry directly employs 10 million
workers, accounts for 2% of the entire gross domestic product. The travel industry is the top
employer in 10 states, Hawaii, Florida, Maine, Alaska, Nevada, Louisiana. And here's
something else you might not know. For those looking to save a little money, a popular tourist
destination last summer was the humble campsite.
32% of families spend at least one weekend enjoying the outdoors.
Average price for camping in America, $18 a night.
Back after this.
