Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, October 9th, 2025. Here's this happening. Today in America, Hamas deal reached, arsonist, caught, fugitives captured, and Katie Porter loses it. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the president announced that both Israel and Hamas both signed off on the first.
phase of a peace plan in Gaza with negotiations that occurred in Egypt.
Trump said the newly announced agreement means that all of the hostages will be released
very soon and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed-upon line as the first step
towards a strong, durable, and everlasting peace.
All parties will be treated fairly.
Trump said hostages could be released Monday.
It's believed that Hamas has 48 hostages still over two years after the October 7,
the 2023 attacks, about 20 of those hostages, they believe, are still alive.
Months after the Palisades fire in L.A. County, where 12 people were killed,
officials announced that they found the man who maliciously lit the fire.
Jonathan Rindernecked.
29.
He's accused of igniting a fire on January 1st.
It was originally suppressed by fire crews, but continued to smolder.
And then a week later, high winds kicked the fire back up.
The claim is that this guy's an Uber driver.
he dropped someone off in the Pacific Palisades area, then drove off towards a trail,
lit the fire, attempted to call 911 several times, ultimately got through with cell service,
then left in his car and returned and filmed firefighters responding to the fire.
He's charged with a crime that's punishable up to 50 years in prison, 23,000 acres,
destroying 7,000 structures.
You may remember a jail break that occurred back in May.
Ten inmates escaped from a crawl space behind a toilet.
All nine of the inmates have been captured, only one's
been on the loose. They finally got him.
28-year-old, they found him in Atlanta.
The local Atlanta SWAT team deployed
a number of canisters of gas
to move him throughout the house, and a
canine found him in the crawl space.
He was convicted last year, two counts
of second-degree murder in a 2018
Marty Gras shooting. He faced
a life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Twelve other people have been arrested on suspicion
of helping the inmates, including
a jail maintenance worker, who's
accused of shutting off the water to the toilet,
allowing the inmates to remove it.
Former congresswoman in California, Katie Porter,
was leading the race for a California governor.
But she did a sit-down interview with CBS News and it went horribly.
She was asked what she would say to the 6.1 million Californians who voted for Trump in 2024.
And she couldn't handle it.
She said, I feel like this is unnecessarily argumentative.
What's your question?
I don't want to keep doing this.
I'm going to call it.
I'm not going to do an interview with seven follow-ups to every single question you ask.
I've never had to do this before.
And I don't want this on camera.
Another first-class California politician.
I'm Mike Slater from Politics by Faith.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Thursday, so working together is out.
Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill have their orders,
and cooperation isn't in the mix.
You might think both parties would be interested
in reopening the government.
Not very.
There's blame everywhere.
The Dems despise Trump,
so everything he does is wrong.
No compromise.
The GOP believes the radical left
will destroy any chance of a Democrat resurgence
in the midterms next year.
So why get in the way of that?
Just continue to antagonize the lefties
so they act stupid.
Meanwhile, we the people are waiting for food prices to come down
and would like to see some problem-solving legislation,
like a new immigration law.
The one on the books is from 1952 for crying out loud.
But that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Instead, we'll get more Hitler, Epstein, gotcha, getcha.
Hey, why not shut that nonsense down?
Your job, senators and congresspeople, is to solve some problems.
Stop with this intermural immaturity.

Kurt says, you can identify evil when it destroys women and children.
maybe that is why Israel is not sitting at the peace table with Hamas
because you simply cannot bargain with evil,
but they are sitting at the peace table with Hamas in Charles Sheikh Egypt.
Israel wants to get the hostages out of there.
And let's pray they do.
Charles, concierge member, thank you, Charles.
Your analysis of the immigration crisis is first rate.
President Biden is responsible not only for the,
immense costs to the House and feed foreign nationals, but also the political discord caused
by trying to deport them. Biden caused immense harm to our country. Yes, he did. Yes, he did.
No doubt about it. Second worst president ever. And then I have a letter. Let me just read
this other letter. It's about Biden.
Let's see if I have it here.
Yes, this is Larry Holt,
Misson, Viejo, California.
In your confronting book,
you rate Biden's second worst president
with the revelation that as DOJ
was targeting nine Republican legislatures,
are you now willing to reconsider
a name Biden the worst president?
No, because it doesn't come close
all of that
to what James Buchanan
did in the run-up to the run-up
to the Civil War, because it was a coward.
In a moment, something you might not know.
Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines.
Our country's back. We're really back.
Candid conversations with the people making the rules and changing the game.
Can you see yourself as president one day?
I don't think about that.
We just had an invasion over our southern border.

Sixteen years ago today, President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize.
The award was praised by many Americans, but criticized by others.
Here is the story.
The Democrat from Chicago is elected president of the United States.
States in 2008. Assuming office in January 2009, he was just 47 years old. Despite his brief
tenure in the Senate, Obama was seen as a progressive replacement for President George Bush
the Younger, who launched two wars to eradicate Islamic terrorism. Barack Obama was nominated for the
Nobel Peace Prize just a days after being sworn in. On October 9th, 2009, he won the award,

extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples, unquote.
The prize was a surprise, even to those in the USA.
Paul from Gallup found 61% of Americans felt the new president did not deserve the award.
Democrats heralded this election as a global rejection of Bush's policies in the Middle East.
Critics argued the new president had accomplished nothing to receive the award, which is true.
Mr. Obama himself received the honor with humility, saying, quote, I am deeply humbled.
I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather an affirmation of
American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations, unquote.
And here's something else you might not know.
Barack Obama was the fourth U.S. president to receive the Nobel Peace.
prize. Previous winners, Theodore Roosevelt for negotiating peace between Japan and Russia. Woodrow Wilson
