The most influential young conservative leader Charlie Kirk was assassinated yesterday afternoon while engaging in a debate at Utah Valley University. Charlie was 31 years old, a young father of a four-year-old daughter and a one-year-old. year old son and his beautiful wife Erica. His wife, hours before the event started, posted online
Starting point is 00:01:37 Psalms 461, God is our refuge and strength of very present help and trouble. The president of the United States from the Oval Office said that Charlie fought for liberty and justice and is now a martyr for truth and freedom. He was also a man of deep, deep faith. And the president said, we take comfort that he is now at peace with God in heaven. But this is a dark moment for America. The president said that Charlie joyfully engaged with everyone interested in good faith debate on campuses nationwide where he championed his ideas with courage, logic, humor, and grace. For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis
Starting point is 00:02:18 and the world's worst murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the kind of terrorism that we see in America today, and it must stop right now. The president said my administration will find each and every one of those who are connected to this atrocity, including organizations that funded and supported. He finished saying the monster who attacked Charlie was attacking our whole country. An assassin tried to silence Charlie with a bullet, but he failed because we will ensure that his voice, his message, and his legacy will live on for countless generations to come.
Starting point is 00:02:52 the president ordered that flags across America fly at half-staff until Sunday night. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, was speaking with the troops yesterday, where he pointed out that the flag was at half-staff. He said that's because of the great Charlie Kirk. He said, the only assurance I can take is that I know he is with his Lord and Savior right now. He has heard the words, well done, good and faithful servant. RFK Jr. said, once again, a bullet has silenced the most eloquent truth-teller of an era. My dear friend Charlie Kirk was our country's relentless and courageous crusader for free speech.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Ben Carson said it was a privilege to call you a friend and to witness your unwavering faith and love for our country. As Jesus said, I am the resurrection in the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live. John 1125. A bit surprisingly, the New York Yankees held a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk before their game yesterday. The Yankees said that he funded the youth activist group Turning Point USA. a husband and father of two children. The president will be at Yankee Stadium today to honor the victims and heroes of 9-11, today 24 years ago. First pitch 7 o'clock. I'm Mike Slater. Bill O'Reilly

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. this Thursday, Stephen A. Smith was on the Hannity program the other night and said the Democratic Party needs a complete overhaul. Mr. Smith, Adem himself is surely correct. The party is a shambles. Because I believe in a strong two-party system, I am now pointing myself as the architect of a brand new movement, an organization that puts the welfare of the American people above foolish, progressive
Starting point is 00:05:46 philosophy, a party that comes back to reality. First of all, the minority leader, Senator Chuck Schumer, needs to retire and move to the villages in Florida. There, Schumer would be issued a golf cart and pickleball racket. He would not be allowed to speak during the daytime. Schumer has no solutions to any vexing problems, like his pal Joe Biden. The Dems need a vibrant leader on the hill. The chuckster doesn't even come close. The new Democratic Party leader also needs to stop the nonsense. Soft on crime? No. Trans school privileges? No. Higher taxes? No. Despising Israel, a loser. Permissive social order policies. Gone. That's just a start. Democrats must cease with the equity skin color preferences. They have to demand better public
Starting point is 00:06:52 school education, stop catering to the unions. That's just the beginning. Over to you, Stephen A. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town, if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mailback, Stephen Holbeert, Brookhaven, Georgia. Really appreciate your objective commentary, you're pretty much the only one left, O'Reilly. You continue to point out that Trump is a disruptor, that's true, and cheered on by many, but I fear he might be reaching too far. More than Trump folks, I know are shaking their heads exhausted by the daily onslaught of crisis, conflicts, lawsuit, etc. There is a danger. But the man is an amazing physical specimen.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I just got through with me. That guy makes me look like Rip Van Winkle. Trump is going to be 80. I've never seen anything like. And that's literally true. But pacing yourself is not a bad thing. Frederick Concierge member, if you become a premium or concierge member on Bill O'Reilly.com, you get my book, Confronting Evil Free,
Starting point is 00:08:00 or any other book you want. Trump is an opportunity to get in front of the issue by drafting his own version of immigration reform. Undoubtedly, the Dembs will oppose, but at least it's a start. I agree with you. I'd like to see the president put forth his vision forth, his vision of immigration reform.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I agree 100%. Hugh Novak, Cascade, Chorter, Township, Michigan. Being an effective leader and being evil are two different considerations. Putin has been evil and effective. So it's effective to kill a million of your countrymen or have them wounded by a stupid invasion? That's effective? No. Not in my opinion.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Milwis, Ryan Beck, New York. Thank you, O'Reilly, for your thoughtful commentary on YouTube between Trump and Tom Hanks. Both men need to acknowledge the good that the other is doing. I like that, Kay. I think that's a very, very good point. Trump's doing good things, Tom Hanks doing good things. So acknowledge it.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I don't think there should be a feud. In a moment, something you might not know. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold.
