Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It is Friday, September 13th.
It's Friday the 13th, 24.
Here's what's happening today in America.
Charges tossed, spy sentenced, polling bad, and rates down.
That's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here from your message of the day.
But first, a judge threw out three of the charges in the Georgia election subversion case.
It's hard to pick which of the Trump trials is the most ridiculous, but this one's right up there.
He's still facing eight of the charges.
But a judge said that three of them, that Fannie Willis tried to slap all together, are beyond the state jurisdiction.
A former CIA officer who's charged with espionage for China was sentenced 10 years conspiring
to provide classified documents to Chinese intelligence officials.
Alexander Yuk Ching Ma of Honolulu arranged for he and a relative, who also previously worked
for the CIA, to meet with Chinese security officers at Hong Kong and provide classified material
for $50,000.
That's what it costs to sell out your country, $50,000.
knowledge. The FBI started an undercover operation, and Ma took a digital camera into the FBI
office to photograph sensitive documents that he planned to then take to his handlers in China.
A New York Times poll found 61% of likely voters believe the next president should represent
a major change from the Biden-Harris administration. But only 25% believe that Vice President
Kamala Harris represents that change. A majority believe that Donald Trump does.
4% of Americans are very concerned about the soaring prices of food and consumer products.
When 61% of voters say we need a change from Biden Harris, it's going to be tough for
Harris to get over that hurdle, right?
The standard 30-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 6.2% this last week.
That is down from last week 6.35% and well below the two-decade high of 7.8% from October
of last year.
We're about where we were in January of 2020.
First in perspective, a $400,000 home with 20% down.
The difference of one percentage point in interest rates is about $200 per month.
Mortgage rates are going down, but prices for homes still remains high, not enough supply.
Construction costs, zoning laws, availability of land to develop, and shortage of workers for new home construction, causing prices of homes to still be high.
I'm Mike Slater from the podcast Politics by Faith, the great Bill O'Reilly with your message of the day.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Friday, as you know, there's a lot of propaganda fallout from the debate on Tuesday.
I hope you're not spending a lot of time watching television news analysis, which is basically skewed to telling people what they want to hear.
here. So here's a vivid example of something that happened during the debate that actually hurt
Donald Trump. His main theme was the border and how catastrophic it has been for the USA. And that's
true. Trump brought it up about seven times, but he didn't frame it in an emotional way,
which you have to do to get people's attention. Instead, he used this very strange story out of
Ohio, where allegedly some Haitian undocumented migrants were eating dogs and cats.
While officials in the town of Springfield, Ohio deny the story, I don't know whether it's
true or not, but it doesn't really matter because this is a presidential debate.
What Mr. Trump should have done is said this throughout the course of the evening.
When asked any question, Donald Trump would say, I'll get to that in a moment, but there's
something bothering me tonight as an American.
I believe that the family of Lake and Riley and Georgia, whose college-age daughter was murdered,
allegedly by a migrant, deserves an apology from this country, and I would like to apologize
to her.
And I would like the vice president to join me.
what a moment that would have been i'm bill o'reilly i approve the message by writing it you can reach
me bill at bill o'reilly dot com bill at bill o'reilly dot com name in town if you wish to opine
now let's go to the mail he's rich uh pretty bad when we're talking about who had the best
vision for america instead of saying who did the worst to me this is the problem but the choice
before us it's not what it should be. So Rich lives in Honolulu, Hawaii. I'm not going to
comment on the choice because the people made the choice on the Republican side. The power brokers
made it on the Democratic side. Renee Storms, Mooresville, North Carolina. Bill, as crazy as
my sound, does winning a debate even mean anything?
these days. Yeah. And Trump hurt himself in the debate and Harris did not hurt herself. I mean,
she did in the eyes of people like me who want accountability, but she didn't make any huge
gaps other than evading every question. And most people, they're not that concern with that
anymore. I don't know why. Al, concierge member, thank you, Al, to the extent that Kamala's goal was to get
under Trump's skin and throw him off his game, she succeeded.
However, if the goal of the audience was to better understand Kamala and Democrats, she failed.
True.
But more Americans should demand that.
You know, she's doing Warren Harding.
Kamala Harris' campaign is exactly what Warren Harding did in 1920.
And Warren Harding was like one of the biggest disasters of all time when he got elected.
So that's in confronting the president's.
Nancy, another concierge member, I'm appalled at the bias of the moderators.
The fact-checking in Trump, not Harris.
All the lies, Harris told, didn't learn anything about Harris.
Yeah, but everybody knew they were going to be that way.
I mean, Trump knew.
It could have easily, that's not hard.
In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
First day of autumn is approaching.
As cool weather descends on the USA, millions of people will travel to see the fall foliage.
If you are a leafer, here are the best places in America to see the trees change color,
as ranked by U.S. News and World Report.
Acadia National Park in Maine, great place.
The preserves national latitude make it the first place in the country to see foliage.
Peak season begins in late September.
Next, the Berkshires in Massachusetts, situated 150 miles west of Boston.
The mountain range boasts the most vibrant colors in the USA.
It also has the most breweries in case you get a little tired of looking at trees.
Charlottesville, Virginia, travelers to the Blue Ridge Mountains should plan a trip for late October
there. And if staring at leaves gets you a little bored, you can take a quick trip to Thomas
Jefferson's nearby estate, Monticello. Breckenridge, Colorado, situated 10,000 feet above
sea level in the heart of the Rockies, Breckenridge is one of the first places to witness
fall colors. While the trees usually peak by late September, the season can linger into early
October. Mostly yellows and the Rockies, but it is stunning, a great place to get started on the
leaf thing. Other locations near the top of the list include the Hudson Valley in New York,
Central Oregon, Poconos of Pennsylvania, and the Ozark Mountains. That is relatively
undiscovered down there, but it's beautiful. The number one place for fall foliage in 24,
Stowe, Vermont.
That state's highest peak is one of the most picturesque places in New England.
90% of the town covered by sugar maple trees.
By mid-October, the leaves turn bright red, orange, and yellow.
And here's something else you might not know.
Fall travel, one of the fastest growing sectors of the tourism industry in America.
Each year, leaf peepers contribute $30 billion to local economies in 24 states,
mostly food, booze, and hotels.
The average cost for a trip to sea fall foliage, 500 bucks.
I'm going to Vermont.
Hope to see you up there.
Back after this.
