Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the weekend edition of the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. Here's what's happening this week in America. Hunter indicted Planned Parenthood back into Wisconsin. Biden meeting with Zelenskyy and one casino paid up. Another has not.
Starting point is 00:00:23 It's all coming up. Then Bill will be here with your message of the day. But first, Hunter Biden indicted in a Delaware federal court on three counts. tied to his possession of a gun while using narcotics. In 2018, he completed a form saying he was not using illegal drugs. But he was. Two of the counts carry a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. The third has five years.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Do not let this distract you from the House impeachment inquiry, which is not about Hunter Biden at all, really, and it's certainly not about his gun possession. It is about Joe Biden. and how and how much Joe Biden used his son as a conduit to accept payments from foreign adversaries. But by the way, Hunter's statute of limitations on these gun charges was set to expire in October. Planned Parenthood said they will resume abortions in Wisconsin after a Wisconsin judge ruled that an 1849 law does not apply anymore. So when Roe v. Wade was overturned last year,
Starting point is 00:01:27 The claim was that Wisconsin should go back to the law as it was written prior to 1973, which was the law passed in 1849. And that law said no abortion in Wisconsin ever. But the judge said, well, no, there was another abortion law passed in 1985, which talked about fetal viability, which is something around 24 weeks, and determined that the more recent law supersedes the 1849 ban. So abortions are now legal again in Wisconsin. now. The president of Ukraine Zelensky planning to meet Joe Biden at the UN General Assembly
Starting point is 00:02:04 in New York next week. Biden recently said, I hope we have finally put to bed the notion about whether or not Ukraine is welcome in NATO. It's going to happen. Oh, that issue should not be put to bed. Joe Biden just approved another $500 million in new aid to Ukraine. Hackers broke into Las Vegas casinos, MGM resorts, and Caesars. The ATM and slot machines didn't work. Elevators were broken. People had to wait hours to check into their rooms. The MGM website is still down.
Starting point is 00:02:42 The group behind the tag is called Scattered Spider in the U.S. and England. Cesar admits that they've paid tens of millions of dollars to end the hacking. MGM so far as not. You may be aware that President of Biden's open border policy, which has led to about eight million foreign nationals crossing into the United States since Biden's been in office,
Starting point is 00:04:24 has created havoc throughout the country, and nowhere is that best illustrated than in New York City, where hundreds of thousands of migrants have shown up, and they need food, shelter, hospitalization for some, and education for their children. Well, the city can't afford it. New Yorkers are the highest taxed Americans in the entire country now. The liberal mayor, Eric Adams, is demanding Joe Biden, give him federal money, but Biden says no. And then there is the moral question. So I was reading an op-ed in Newsday, the newspaper of Long Island, and a Catholic priest is writing that we have to be humane toward the migrants. Okay, that's what Jesus would be, humane toward poor people who
Starting point is 00:05:24 need help. But the priest does not acknowledge that the taxpayers need help as well. Most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and in order to pay for millions of foreign nationals, we're going to have to raise taxes on those people. Hey, Father, is that humane? I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill Riley.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Marianne McKean, Salute of Virginia, I'm grateful for your daily messages. Thank you, Marianne. Starting point is 00:06:15 to them. The world has become a very scary place. I'm 74. I was a public school teacher. This country used to be a wonderful place. Why do they want to ruin it? because they, the progressives, don't believe it used to be a wonderful place. If you get a hold of my book, Culture Warrior, I outlined a whole thing in that book. John Rookney, Lincoln, Nebraska, Bill, what do you think of term limits, movement for Congress, will it succeed? Not now, because these people want to keep their power as long as they can. But if there was a popular uprising, swell that might change.
Starting point is 00:06:52 But the way it is now, no. Peter Dobelman, Omaha, Nebraska, you mentioned that McConnell, Fine, Sign, and Biden should resign because they can't do their job. Why didn't you include Federman in that group? Because we were talking about age, old age. Federman isn't in that category. A Federman's physician, personal physician, says he's able to do his job. So it would be unfair to put Federman in that group. I don't think Federman can do his job, by the way, but that's an opinion.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Gene Beckett, Port Smith Road Island. Bill, you stated that Mitch McConnell should resign, but Kentucky as a Democratic governor, if he resigns, would the governor appoint a replacement? Kentucky has a law that if a senator or anybody else has to be replaced by the governor. The governor has to pick three selections from the replacement person's party. So McConnell, three people would be given to the governor, I guess by the legislature. the Republicans in the legislature, but he have to pick a person of that party. That's in Kentucky. In a moment, something you might not know. Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist
Starting point is 00:08:11 and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. You don't want to miss an episode. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
Starting point is 00:08:49 36 years ago this week, a popular presidential candidate ended his campaign over allegations of plagiarism. Here is the story of Joe Biden's first bid for the White House. The then-44-year-old senator from Delaware announced his candidacy in the spring of 1987. On September 12th, the New York Times directly accused Biden of stealing vast sections of a speech from a British politician. Biden also apparently cribbed entire paragraphs from Hubert Humphrey, Robert Kennedy, and JFK. Further review found the Democrat had copied numerous papers during his time at Syracuse University. He received an F from an instructor after stealing a five-page report from a professor at Fordham. The final blow for his campaign came when Newsweek magazine found footage of Biden, claiming he finished
Starting point is 00:09:49 near the top of his graduating class. In reality, he ranked 76th out of 85. On September 17th, 1987, the beleaguered candidate called a press conference at the US Capitol, said Biden, quote, I've done some dumb things, I'll do dumb things again, unquote. He then officially ended his campaign
Starting point is 00:10:14 because of the controversy. He was asked not to attend the Democratic Convention. Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, you may remember, went on to win the Dem nomination. He later lost to Bush the Elder in a landslide, 426 electoral votes to 111. And here's something else you might not know. Joe Biden's dubious claims continue to pile up.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Since taking office, the president has alleged he desegregated restaurants in Wilmington, Delaware, his eldest son died in Iraq, he created 10 million jobs, he slashed the national debt, he personally witnessed a bridge collapse in Pittsburgh, and his home was destroyed by lightning. Biden even said he was arrested in South Africa trying to visit Nelson Mandela. None of those things are true. Back after this.
