Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update, sponsored by Tax Network USA. America's number one choice for tax resolution. Please go to TNUSA.com slash bill or call 800-245-6-0-0. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, September 26, 2024. Here's this happening today in America. Israeli strikes Iranian threats on Trump, bus hijacked, and house washed away. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the Israeli military says it has struck more than 2,000 targets in Lebanon over the last three days.
Starting point is 00:00:43 The UN says that thousands of people have crossed into Syria who have no plan on what to do next. A UN official said for any of the 1.5 million Syrian refugees currently in Lebanon who choose to return home, they may find that their former home has been destroyed. Israel says they have killed their fourth top Hezbollah official this week. The Israeli military is preparing for a possible ground invasion into Lebanon. Worth noting that not long ago, Lebanon was a Christian country known as the Paris of the Middle East. In other Middle East news, the Trump campaign said that he was briefed regarding, quote, real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and so chaos. into the United States.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months. Donald Trump went on truth social and said if they do assassinate President Trump, which is always a possibility. I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the earth.
Starting point is 00:01:44 If that does not happen, American leaders will be considered gutless cowards. In 2022, a member of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was charged for plotting to kill National Security Advisor John Bolton. He was willing to pay people in the U.S. $300,000 to carry out the murder. This was revenge for the American strike that killed Iranian military commander Soleimani. In Los Angeles, someone hijacked a city bus.
Starting point is 00:02:08 And with a gun to his head, the driver pressed a button that put on the display on the front side of the bus. It said, call 911. Well, police followed the bus. Driver kept going. After an hour, police put down some spike strips and stopped the bus. The driver made it out alive. One passenger was not heard at all. was shot multiple times and was killed. California, of course, has the strictest gun laws in the
Starting point is 00:02:31 country. And Newsom, the governor, signed 24 more gun control laws just this week. Officials in North Carolina closed parts of the beach because there's so much debris. Debris from what? The third house has collapsed into the ocean. Officials say this is due to erosion from some recent storms. The water levels are higher than usual. Just wash the house right away. On this Thursday, in 1961, singer Joe Jones had a hit single with a tune called You Talk Too Much.
Starting point is 00:04:19 The refrain went like this. You talk too much. You worry me to death. You talk too much. you even worry my pet. 63 years later, Donald Trump, I dial that song up. Here's his dilemma. Thousands of people attend his rallies hoping to be entertained.
Starting point is 00:04:38 And the former president rarely disappoints. He rifts on his opponents and the mess the Biden-Harris administration has imposed on the nation. He talks about it and talks and talks. Somewhere in that monologue, which is mostly ad-libbed, Mr. Trump usually veers into crazy land. He's not always serious when he goes there, but the corrupt media reports his words without context. Think dictator on day one. Good people on both sides. Migrants eating pets. Wait, the last one was serious. Anyway, few Americans of the time to watch the Trump rally, so all they hear is purpose.
Starting point is 00:05:21 distorted accounts of his rhetoric, and that is taking a toll on his campaign. In the opposing camp, Vice President Harris does her share of bloviating, but it's rarely entertaining unless you want to hear about her kitchen when she was a little girl. Kamala's middle-class upbringing is her answer to just about every question. So there we are. How about a little less blather and more focus on solving problems? I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Here's a mail. We got Michael Hicks, Lynchburg, Virginia. As a licensed professional counsel, I can vouch for what you said about Donald Trump, O'Reilly, that he could have won the debate. In my professional role, I'm trained to de-escalate conflict by simply observing and naming what's happening in front of me. You know, Trump got jobbed in a debate. If he had narrated it as it was happening, he would have won. Very simple. Jim Pached, Glendale, California, a brilliant idea on a new Trump advertisement, humble, apologetic, just what he needs to get elected.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Not apologetic. I would never advise Donald Trump to apologize. All he has to do is say whatever human being says. I make mistakes. I'm not perfect. that's not an apology that's a reality humble a little humble pie go a long way but you know I don't want them to remake himself I just want him to level with the folks Bush on a message board I can't see how any honest practicing Catholic or anyone who
Starting point is 00:07:10 believes in Jesus can vote for any Democrat the tough one particularly if you believe that abortion is a grave wrong. Tough one. Mark Newman, Vancouver, Washington, thank you Bill for sharing PolicyGenius.com. My car insurance jumped 60% by using that website. We saved $100 a month for our two vehicles. Okay, policygenius.com. That's one of our smart life tips. You know, insurance is out of control. They'll help you out there. Gary Adams, North Bend, Oregon. I joined as a premium member, Bill O'Reilly.com. I enjoyed your interview with Senator Gloria Romero from California. Get some rest, Bill. Rest? R-E-S-T? What is that? I don't even know. Terry Dog woke me up at 5 o'clock this morning. In a moment, something you might not know.

Some politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continue to promote a socialist model for the USA. That means centralized government control over the economy
Starting point is 00:08:53 and a lot of other things. But consider this. Socialist Marxist societies have the lowest annual wages on earth. Here are the worst places for workers. Communist China, average person earns $12,000 a year. Cuba. 5,000. Vietnam, 4,000. Laos, 3,000. Bolivia, $2,800 annually. Venezuela, $1,500. Can you believe this kind of stuff? North Korea, just $1,000 a year. Mozambique, Africa, $800. The lowest on the list, Eritrea, $500 a year per worker. The tiny Marxist nation in East Africa. It's the most impoverished place on earth. 90% of the people live on $2 a day or less. The country's biggest industry, barley cultivation. The highest incomes on earth can be found in free market democracies and oil-rich countries in the Middle East.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Kuwait, average worker, $80,000 a year. Switzerland. $90,000, Emirates in the Gulf, $100,000. Top of the list, Luxembourg. The typical Luxembourg earns $150,000 a year because banking dominates that ultra-small country just north of Belgium. Capitalism again. The USA is the 10th highest per capita income at 70. thousand dollars a year on average. However, we have the lowest tax rate in the industrial world giving Americans more purchasing power than Europeans. And here's something else you might not know. While some socialist nations allow their citizens to spend their money freely, most communist countries maintain control over what you can buy. In Cuba, you can only buy
Starting point is 00:11:11 at government-run supermarkets, hotel, on and on. It's really oppressive. Back after this. Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist, and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One.
