Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the weekend edition of the O'Reilly Update. Sponsored by Tax Network USA, America's number one choice for tax resolution. Please go to tnusa.com slash bill or call 800-245-6-0-0. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thanks, Bill. Here's what happening this week in America. Hurricane Haleen, deplorable double down, ice, Boston, and worth the broken leg.
Starting point is 00:00:34 That's all coming up. And Bill's going to be here with your message today, but first. Hurricane Haleen, a category four storm will threaten well-built framed homes with severe damage, potentially losing both roof and walls. Most trees are snapped or uprooted, and power poles are downed. The hurricane center says that power outages will last weeks, possibly months. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or weeks or. months. What? Ron DeSantis says that there are 18,000 linemen stage ready to move in once the
Starting point is 00:01:04 storm passes to restore power. The Florida National Guard has 3,500 soldiers and airmen ready. The Florida State Guard has 10 shallow water vessel boat teams, seven flat bottomed flood rescue skiffs, two amphibious rescue vehicles, 12 UTVs, 15 cut and toss crews, seven search and rescue teams, 2,100 Florida Department of Transportation personnel working for storm response, 8508,000. generators for traffic signal power. Florida's as ready as they can be. Remember in 2016, Hillary called half of Trump supporters deplorables? The even worst part was irredeemable.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Well, she doubled down. She said, I was talking about the people who were drawn to his racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, you name it. And just look at everything that's happened in the years since, from Charlottesville to January 6th, the masks have come off. And if anything, deplorable is too kind of a word for the hate and violent extremism. we've seen from some Trump supporters. ICE Boston announced another arrest this time of an El Salvadorian MS-13 gang member
Starting point is 00:02:05 who snuck in to the U.S. as a gotaway. This is the same operation that took down two Salvadorian child rapists and two other illegal aliens charged with sex crimes. All of these child rapes were on the island of Nantucket and still not a peep from the people of Nantucket. A 79-year-old woman went on a hike in Ashford, Washington, and by herself, 3.2 mile trail. She's done it many times.
Starting point is 00:02:29 But at the top, she broke her leg. Fortunately for her, two young men were there to come to a rescue. Troy May, 20 years old, he's an airman at the nearby Air Force Base. He said, I knew I was capable of carrying her down. I really didn't make much of a decision. I just knew I needed to carry her down if I could. The woman said I was just overwhelmed with gratitude. That these people literally came out of the woods to help me,
Starting point is 00:02:48 and they were totally unselfish and kind. I thought these people were behaving like angels coming from the sky. I'm Mike Slater from the podcast Politics by Faith. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Wednesday, Kamala Harris taking a little heat in New York City for declining an invitation to attend the annual Al Smith dinner. That's a Fat Cat Catholic fundraiser designed to bring both political parties into a lavish room in order to gently mock them. Mr. Smith was the first Roman Catholic to secure a presidential nomination.
Starting point is 00:03:29 That was back in 1928. Old Al got waxed by Herbert Hoover and was lucky to lose. The Great Depression dropped on Hoover's head the very next year. Anyway, Kamala wants no part of this exposition because she is the queen of abortion promotion. That procedure is considered a grave sin by the church. hard to yuck things up under those circumstances the strategy to put the vice president in the top job is now obvious television ads will do her talking i have learned she is likely to do an interview with 60 minutes and that might be it for her in the press zone Donald Trump is also expected to talk with 60 minutes. Not since the immortal Warren G. Harding has a presidential candidate hid from the media the way Kamala is doing.
Starting point is 00:04:35 But it worked for Warren, and it may very well work for Kamala. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com, Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mail. We got Eric on the message board. If you are a Bill O'Reilly.com premium or concierge member, you get to go on a message board and post stuff and talk to others and have a good time. This is what Eric says.
Starting point is 00:05:08 If that many folks really hate Donald Trump or like Kamala Harris, then it is just a matter of time before a America is transformed forever into a socialist tyranny. I think that's an overstatement. There's danger, but the American people, I still have confidence that even if Harris wins, that Congress will not be All-Democrat and she'll be blunted. But it's an interesting point of view, Eric. Dorothy, concierge member, Dorothy gets direct access to me. I'm learning that Hollywood stars are quickly becoming a thing of the past.
Starting point is 00:05:46 New Stars today are the Internet people, podcasters. If you aren't on YouTube, you aren't on. I've said that YouTube has exploded. My operation exploded it. And we have our own channel. I'll give you the address in a moment. Gene Kruger, Stockton, California. I'm curious, Bill, when does satire step over the line and become fraud?
Starting point is 00:06:08 When you use satire, okay, for propagandistic purposes. So a lot of people don't know what satire is, Gene. And if you do AI and you manipulate voices and faces, that's fraud. Steve Grabowski, Raleigh, North Carolina, congratulations on the book. Your deaf use of foreshadowing always keeps the reader on edge in anticipation of what's to come. The opening of the Lincoln chapter, the Battle of Sharpsburg, was riveting. not only its military significance and loss, but it's necessary prelude to the Emancipation Proclamation. So, confirming the presidents provides more information than any other history
Starting point is 00:06:56 book that's ever been written. How about that for a flat statement? In a moment, something you might not know. Now, the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. Donald Trump says he will not take part in another debate with Kamala Harris after their exposition on ABC News earlier this month. Is this strategy wise? Maybe. In my opinion, no one won the first debate. Both candidates look shaky at times, and it's hard to predict how voters will process the display, even though the polls say that the vice president did win the debate. As for Mr. Trump, he might consider Ronald Reagan's 1984 campaign against Walter Mondale, which we chronicle in my new book confronting the presidents.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Mr. Mondale waxed Reagan in the first debate. The 73-year-old Republican appeared tired and confused. Some journalists accused him of, quote, sleepwalking on live television. Well, the appearance caused a new interest in the incumbents, mental acuity, and fitness for office. Remember, Reagan had been shot shortly after he was inaugurated in 1981. Now, for the second debate, Ronald Reagan was prepared. He diffused questions about his health with humor. I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience. If I still have time, I might add, Mr. Truitt, I might
Starting point is 00:08:40 might add that it was Seneca or it was Cicero, I don't know which, that said, if it was not for the elders correcting the mistakes of the young, there would be no state. Reagan's performance in the second debate solidified his polling advantage. Two weeks after, the Republican won the greatest electoral victory in American history, 525 to 13, Mondale carrying only Minnesota and the District of Columbia. And here's something else you might not know. Despite his impressive performance, Ronald Reagan was beginning to suffer from mental decline during the 84 campaign. On November 5, 1994, exactly 10 years after his victory over Mondale, Reagan released a letter to the public, confirming his diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Back after this. That is the weekend edition of the O'Reilly Update. No spin, just facts. We are always looking out for you.
