Starting point is 00:00:38 tech settlement. It's all coming up. Then Bill is going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the Democratic Party has decided to shut down the government. On the table, the Republicans have put a continuing resolution of current government spending until Thanksgiving. Well, Republicans need seven Democrat votes in order to pass this continuing resolution. I've been assured by Republican congressmen that there's nothing in this continuing resolution. It's totally clean in every way, just a continuation of current spending until Thanksgiving. But the Democrats refuse to vote for it.
Starting point is 00:01:12 They're asking to extend Obamacare subsidies that otherwise are going to expire at the end of the year. Now, in response to a possible shutdown, the Office of Management and Budget Director Russ vote issued a memo saying that departments should consider a reduction in force if the government closes, meaning thousands of federal workers could be permanently laid off if the government shutdown happens. The president met with the prime minister of Israel yesterday in the White House. President Trump said Israel would have my full backing to finish the job of destroying the threat of Hamas. But I hope that we're going to have a deal for peace. Netanyahu said if
Starting point is 00:01:51 Hamas rejects your plan, Mr. President, or if they supposedly accepted and then basically do everything to counter it, then Israel will finish the job by itself. This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done. The president released a 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict. Marco Rubio celebrated the release of an American who's been held in Afghanistan. This is the fifth release of an American this year. Marco Rubio said today, thanks to President Trump's leadership and commitment to the American people, the United States welcomed home U.S. citizen Amir Amiri, who has been wrongfully detained in Afghanistan. Afghanistan. We express our sincere gratitude to Qatar, whose strong partnership and tireless
Starting point is 00:02:30 diplomatic efforts were vital to securing his release. The special envoy for hostage response, Adam Boler, traveled to Kabul to personally oversee his release. The American's release and Bowler's visit come just one week after the president told the Taliban to give back control of Bagram Air Base to us, saying that, quote, bad things would happen if Afghanistan does not do it. Starting point is 00:04:34 On this Tuesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has dropped out of the race, which will culminate on November 4th. I predicted this would happen almost to the day. It wasn't a difficult forecast. A few New Yorkers were happy with the mayor. performance, and he couldn't raise money. That means he would have to pay the campaign bills himself. Anyone who knows Mr. Adams also knows that would never happen. Now, why would anyone care who doesn't live in New York City? Well, as a communist leading in a polling, Zoharhan Mamdani, 33 years old, never ran anything. So if he wins, he wins, he.
Starting point is 00:05:20 the largest city in the country could collapse, leading to economic consequences for the entire nation. In addition, violent crime and drug use will surge in New York because Mamdani doesn't really want to enforce the law. He sees the criminal justice system as racist. His made opponent at this time is Andrew Cuomo, who is deeply unpopular. I can't predict how the vote is going to go right now, but I will make a call by Halloween. It's really between Governor Cuomo and Mr. Mamdani at this point. Halloween is a fitting day for the call. I'm Bill O'Reilly.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Rick Cunnington, Oro Valley, Arizona. In fact, a coma is indicted by a deep blue grand jury.
Starting point is 00:06:28 It's indicative that a crime was committed. Problem for the government is the jury pool and a Biden judge. The, no, that's not the way it goes. And a grand jury in Virginia threw out one charge and was very close on the other two. So I wouldn't read anything into that. Ed, on the message board, this indictment is victory enough, Comey's career and reputation of ruin. Other government servants have been put on notice. President Trump should keep his mouth closed, but we know he won't.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Okay, I'm not going to argue with that assessment. I don't think any Comey's got much support at all among anybody, except the media. Media likes them because they want Trump to lose. Dennis, concierge member, a full-fledged trial must go forward because the grand jury found the charge worthy. Whether it leads to conviction or not, the process was shed sunlight on what took place, perhaps lead to the indictment of others. Okay. I'm not opposed to any of that. I think Americans should know the truth about the former FBI director and his merry friends. Donna Lienk, Prosper, Texas.
Starting point is 00:07:47 You're correct, Bill, about Jasmine Crockett not supporting her district. A Dallas organization I belong to is bipartisan. We invited Ms. Crockett to speak. She accepted not once but twice. Canceled both times. She's using Congress to try to obtain fame. That's what this woman is doing, just like Casio Cortez. Drew Lyon, Wickenberg, Arizona.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Is there a possibility of a progressive liberal fact? behind food prices not going down. No. Nope. It's supply, demand. Some people are gouging in the food chain. The Secretary of Agriculture should get involved here. In a moment, something you might not know.

Starting point is 00:09:02 Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might, not know. 137 years ago this evening, the desecrated bodies of two prostitutes are found in London. London. Both had been stabbed, mutilated, nearly decapitated. They were the third and fourth victims of Britain's most notorious killer. Here is the story of Jack the Ripper. In Victorian England, London's East End was a busy slum, home to one million residents. On August 31st, 1888, police found the Ripper's first victim behind a butcher shop, fitting. One week later, he killed again. On November 30th, two more people were murdered. Scotland Yard believed the pattern was the work of one man.
Starting point is 00:09:53 His method, simple. The attacker targeted prostitutes, lured them onto secluded streets, sliced their throats. As a woman bled to death, he disembowed them with a six-inch blade. On November 7th, after a month of silence, the killer took his fifth and last victim. Irish-born Mary Kellett. Of all the corpses, hers was the most mutilated. The Times of London labeled the murders the autumn of blood. As quickly as the crime spree began, it ended.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Jack the Ripper disappeared. In 1892, with no leads and no more homicides, the Ripper's file was formally closed. And here's something else you might not know. Without modern technology like DNA, forensics, even fingerprints, hundreds of names have been put forth as possible suspects. The list includes members of the British royal family. Well, the true identity of Jack the Ripper will never be known,
Starting point is 00:11:03 but the legend lives on. In a 2016 poll from the BBC, see. Londoners ranked Jack the Ripper, the worst Britain of all time. Number nine on that list, King Henry VIII, who was a lot worse than an individual killer. You can read about Henry's terrible deeds in my best-selling book confronting evil. Back after this.
