Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day.
As we reported here yesterday, TV actors Eric McCormick and Deborah Messing, Will and Grace,
have threatened entertainment industry people who donate to President Trump.
The situation got out of hand over the weekend when the actors tweeted, they want to know who will
attend a Trump fundraiser in Beverly Hills. Says actor McCormick, we want to know because we don't
want to work with those people. I'm paraphrasing. Well, this is obviously the new Hollywood blacklist.
Let's take a look at the old blacklist in case you've forgotten. After World War II,
There was a communist scare in the USA as America and the Soviet Union were involved in a cold war.
1947, the House Committee on Un-American Activities, that doesn't exist anymore,
began to interrogate Hollywood entertainment people on the suspicion that their work was communist-inspired or funded by the Soviet Union.
That movement gained media attention, and writers and directors were held in.
contempt of Congress for refusing to testify before the H-U-A-C. Well, congressional action came forward,
and many Hollywood people were hurt, some of them innocent. Ronald Reagan was the president of the
Screen Actors Guild at the time. I write about this extensively in my book, Killing Reagan. He was
involved here. In 1952, the Screen Actors Guild, Reagan's Union, instructed studios to, quote,
omit from the screen the names of writers and actors suspected of being communist. At its height,
that list grew to about 300 people. Director Alfred Hitchcock defied the list, hiring an associate
producer to work on his TV show. Well, the black list largely ended by 1960, but lives were ruined.
awful. It should never happen in America. Prominent entertainers that got hurt. Leonard Bernstein,
Orson Wells, Charlie Chaplin, Humphrey Bogart was even involved. So now McCormick and Messing want to bring
back a blacklist if you donate or support Donald Trump. They don't want to work with you in Hollywood.
No, you can't get a job. Well, yesterday, Whoopi Goldberg on her program of The View scorched Deborah Messing,
saying, hey, lady, you better knock it up because you could wind up on a black list someday.
And that is very true.
Black lists are un-American, and Willing Gray should know it.
Another interesting aside to this story is that the liberal media, which is about 80% of it now,
didn't really report much on Messing and McCormick.
They didn't really criticize them, even though,
the liberal media hates the blacklist of the 50s. But now everybody knows this is unfair. Everybody
knows that Will and Grace made a huge mistake. What do you see the ratings for their sitcom this fall?
You think they're going to prosper? There aren't. Americans don't like this boycott business.
They don't like the blacklist. We should have the ability in this country to disagree, respectful.
McCormick and Messing should apologize. McCormick now saying he was misunderstood, but that's Bull. Say you're sorry, Eric. That is the message. I trust.com. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. According to an old
proverb, the only thing certain in life are death and taxes.
and it is true that many governments all over the world take vast sums of money from their
citizens. Let's look at some of the highest tax countries ranked by trading economics. First up,
Slovenia, tiny country in Eastern Europe, massive tax rate. The average worker pays 42% annually.
If you make more than $76,000 in Slovenia, went on handing half of that over to the government.
It's a beautiful place if you have any money left to enjoy it.
Waniya Trump is from Slovenia.
Austria and Italy next on the list.
Unmarried citizens in both countries can expect a whopping 47% tax rate.
Each nation also imposes a massive 20% value-added tax, VAT, on most items.
France's dubious mix of capitalism and socialism means the government intervenes in the economy
whenever it sees fit, including collecting 48% from its citizens' paychecks. Cautionary
tale, for us in America, about 10% of French residents are out of work in a booming world
economy. Situation similar in Hungary, 15% flat tax there applies to all your money, income, interest,
social insurance, contributions, your car, whatever. When all is said,
said and done, citizens pay about 49% of their assets to the Hungarian government.
Germany, the largest economy in the European Union,
asked the citizens to contribute more than 49%.
That includes a mandatory 300 euro per month fee for free health care.
300 euro, about 400 bucks.
Countries with the highest tax rates, the ones that want more than half of your money,
well, they're a little further north in Europe over to Sweden and Denmark for the six-hour work day
and the 61% tax rate. If less work and more taxes is your thing, you'll enjoy universal health care,
free child care, free education, free retirement. But beware, economists say both Sweden and Denmark
may soon run out of cash. Uh-oh. Back after this.
There's a lot of talk around mortgage rates lately. In fact, the Fed just had a meeting and they cut
them. And when rates get cut, it can have a big impact on your mortgage. How? It means a lower
monthly payment. You pay less interest to borrow money, so you make a smaller payment each
month. With rates so low right now, it's worth a call to American financing. They've been helping
people just like you for more than 20 years, buying homes, refinancing mortgages, even consolidating
debt. The currently saving customers a thousand dollars or more each month. So why not see what
they can do for you? Even if you recently bought a home, you can still be eligible for a lower
rate. So make the 10-minute call to American Financing now. Get a free mortgage review.
