Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Tuesday, September 9th, 2025. Here's this happening today in America. Supreme Court win. The Midway Blitz would be assassins trial and Kane rebuked. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the left calls them roving patrols. Lower courts determined that ICE has. not established reasonable suspicion to justify stopping Hispanic people around L.A. to ask them their immigration status. ICE has been stopping people based on they look Hispanic and they're in a particular location like outside of a Home Depot. And lower court said that the Trump administration
Starting point is 00:00:48 can't do that. Well, the Supreme Court just ruled that indeed they can. Calvin Al said ethnicity alone can't furnish reasonable suspicion. But it can be a relevant factor. Factors like your ethnicity, whether or not you can speak English well, and where you are located at the time of being asked what your immigration status is. Kavanaugh opened with the Immigration and Nationality Act authorizes immigration officers to interrogate any alien or person believed to be an alien as to his right to be or remain in the United States. Well, Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice, was not happy about this. She said, we should not live in a country where the government can seize anyone who looks Latinos, speak Spanish, and appears to work at a low-wage job. Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Speaking of, ICE has officially started what they call the Midway Blitz to, quote, make Illinois communities safer. The White House said for years, Democrat politicians looked the other way, while criminal illegal aliens terrorized American communities, even embracing sanctuary policies to protect. these sick criminals. No more. This operation is done in the memory of Katie Abraham
Starting point is 00:02:03 who was killed by an illegal alien from Guatemala, who was driving drunk and hit the back of her car, hit her from behind, going 80 miles an hour. The man who plotted to assassinate President Trump
Starting point is 00:02:13 and his golf course in Florida, his trial began yesterday. He will be representing himself and has pled not guilty. When the Secret Service agent saw a face in the bushes, they then found a rifle with a scope, an extended magazine,
Starting point is 00:02:26 and a list of events where Trump would be appearing recently. They also found a note back at his home that said this was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I'm sorry I failed you, yet still pleading, not guilty. We reported the other day that Senator Tim Cain doesn't think our rights come from God.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Well, Trump said yesterday, at an event in the museum of the Bible, said under the Trump administration, we're defending our rights and restoring our identity as a nation under God. We are one nation under God. It is tyrants who are denying our rights and the rights that come from God. And the president said the senator from Virginia should be ashamed of himself.
Starting point is 00:03:00 I'm Mike Slater from politics by faith. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. On this Tuesday, President Trump is especially testing about the federal assault on violence
Starting point is 00:04:23 in some American cities. As usual, the progressive media has decided that Trump is a fascist and that federal authorities should simply watch people get shot down on the street with no intervention. That's what President Biden did. See no evil. No action needed. So when a leftist NBC reporter asked the president about the so-called war on Chicago, Mr. Trump's annoyous spiked. He simply can't believe the left would rather accept ongoing violence than tamped down with federal protection. If I were president, I'd be happy the ideological media is opposed to restoring order. Most Americans understand this is necessary in out-of-control progressive cities. If state and local authorities refuse to protect the citizenry, the federal
Starting point is 00:05:29 government has the authority to do so. We have seen that many times throughout history. Google George Wallace. Part of Donald Trump's protective shield is the utter insanity of his media detractors. the extremists in the press, and there are many, actually help the Trump administration. It's like a vaccine against criticism for the president. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Taryn. Concierge, remember, thank you, Taryn. I agree Putin is worse, but I don't give Biden to pass unintentionally.
Starting point is 00:06:20 He may have been mentally compromised, but in his moments of cogency, he had to know. What he was doing was evil, and he continued to do it. Okay, I hit him on the abortion, big Roman Catholic, but he promoted abortion on demand, late term. So I think you might be right, Taryn. Susan Line Boswell, Downington, Pennsylvania, I wish you have been correct, O'Reilly, when you predicted in the summer of 2023 that Putin would be ousted shortly. I wish I had been correct, too, but I didn't predict that. Here's what I said, Susan, rule the tape. Putin's on the ropes now inside Russia.
Starting point is 00:07:06 We don't get reporting because unlike here, if you are a Russian citizen and you, bring this into a demonstration, you're in jail. I think Putin may go down this year because of this war, because he's losing it so badly. But the only way he goes down is if the Russian people take him out. So it was not a prediction. It was an if.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And what Putin did was he tightened up his security forces to quell any dissent whatsoever. Remember, he blew up the people. mutineers and the Wagner group. So I don't think Putin's that popular among Russians. How could you be? They live horribly over there. And they got a million dead or wounded? It makes sense to me. But anyway, Susan, the reason I use that soundbite is be precise now. That precision is always good when you're talking about what somebody said or did. In a moment, something you might, not know. Now, the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might, not know. 532 years ago this week, an Italian explorer set sail for the new world. Unlike his first expedition with just three ships, the journey featured 17 vessels with more than a thousand men. Here's the story behind the second voyage of Christopher Columbus. In early 1492, the navigator and his men made landfall in the Bahamas.
Starting point is 00:09:50 The expedition returned to Spain, with spices, small amount of gold, and six indigenous people. The following September, Columbus launched his second voyage to the Caribbean. His 17-ship armada carried 1,200 soldiers, settlers, priests, craftsmen. In November, the fleet arrived in modern-day Dominican Republic. They soon founded colonies in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Cuba. Along the way, hundreds of indigenous Caribbean people were forced into slavery, not good. In addition, dozens of towns were staffed. under the direct authority of the Spanish crown.
Starting point is 00:10:39 But Columbus was soon ordered to return home. He arrived in Spain one year later. He then launched two more expeditions to the new world. His final journey brought him into the dense jungles of Central America. Eventually Columbus retired, settling in southern Spain before dying in 1506 at the age of 54. And here's something else you might not know. The voyages of Christopher Columbus extended beyond
Starting point is 00:11:12 his life. The explorer's body has a unique story. Thirty years after his death, the Columbus corpse was sent from Spain to the island of Hispaniola. That's Haiti and the DR today. When France invaded that territory, Columbus's remains were dispatched to Cuba. After Spain lost Cuba in the late 19th century, Chris's body shipped back to Seville. Today, folks can visit the final resting place of Christopher Columbus if you want to. Back after this. Thank you for listening to the O'Reilly update. I am Bill O'Reilly, no spin, just facts, and always looking out for
Starting point is 00:12:04 for you.
