Welcome to the No Spin News Thursday, May 1st, May Day. Hello, communists.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Hope you have it a good time. 2025 stand up for your country. It's an old song by Elton John. I'm still standing. I don't know how I'm still standing. This was one of the most intense work weeks of my life. So it culminated last night in the town hall on News Nation, which millions of people saw across a bunch of venues, C.W. Radio. It was just an amazing display of distribution. And a lot of people watch because President Trump kicked it off with a phone interview. And I interviewed President Trump different than anybody else and everybody knows that, which is why people tuned in. it was kind enough to give us 25 minutes. And then after that, we went over with a bunch of
Starting point is 00:02:06 people, James Carville and all of that and Ronna McDaniel and on and on. It was a balance panel about what he said. And people seemed to enjoy it. Now, I was obnoxious as, you know, I've been known to be. I took Carvel apart. I'll show you what happened. And I was pretty direct with the president. And I'll show you what happened there, too. But this was on top of a whole bunch of things that I had to do this week in the business world. And I'm going to do a benefit for a Catholic church on Long Island. I can't believe I'm doing it. But how can I say no?
Starting point is 00:02:45 I don't know. I just can't. So I'm doing that. And then I'm going to sleep the entire weekend. Talking points memo is the town hall on News Nation last night. This was a tough booking. President Trump is very busy, and he works hard. He and I, he's three years older than I am, and we have a work ethic.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Okay, I take more time off than Donald Trump. Donald Trump only plays golf. He doesn't have any other hobbies. I have a bunch. And as I said, he gave us 25 minutes. And, you know, when you hear the clips, just focus in on the difference. If you watch that ABC fiasco on Tuesday, I mean, it went nowhere, got nothing. It just, they just don't get it.
Starting point is 00:03:36 They don't know how to interview the man. But anyway, he did, I think out of friendship to me, give us the 25 minutes on Wednesday evening. Now, we began with the polling, which is, you know, at this point in history, because of the stock market, and that's what it's about and the tariffs, not looking good for Donald Trump. Roll the tape. So a series of rough polls this week, and I'm wondering how you process that. Does it hurt your feelings when you see numbers come in
Starting point is 00:04:15 that are not what you'd like them to be? Well, first of all, they're fake polls, and if you take a look at the polls, they interviewed more, for the most part, they interviewed more Democrats than they did. Republicans, which is ridiculous and unfair, and Democrats aren't voting for Trump. And you look at him, John McLaughlin, who's the most respected pollster, said I'm at 50, 55,
Starting point is 00:04:39 and maybe even higher than that. And he said that these polls are largely fake. When you say, am I bothered by it? If I was, I'd be really helped by the fact that in the election, we won in a landslide. We won the popular vote. We won the swing states. We won the district's 2,750 to about 505, and the election took place just a short while ago, November 5th. Well, what's different now, Mr. President, what's different now is the tariffs, and that's what's driving your numbers down, that some people are panicking because the stock market is so up and down in and out.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Would you agree that that has been a perception problem, the tariffs? Yeah, but I'm an honest guy, and we have to save the country. We were losing $5 billion a day with this man that we had as a president, the auto pen president. Nobody even knows who the president was. We're losing, think of it, we're losing $5 billion a day, and a big chunk of it was from China. Okay, so are the polls fake?
Starting point is 00:05:49 Some of them are. McLaughlin is a very good pollster. So I didn't hear what he, I don't think he said that public, to President Trump, but I know John did meet with him. There's a new poll out today I'm going to give you that is pretty interesting, and it's different than the polls that have him way down. So you can't say to Donald Trump, well, no, the polls are fair. They're not fair.
Starting point is 00:06:14 I mean, I've told you the polling at Fox News is terrible. The polling at NPR PBS done by Maris College is disgraceful. It's awful. Okay, anybody buying that poll is buying a fraud. And this is based on what their poll numbers were, not only for this election last November, but on and on. Okay, they're awful. And whenever you ask Donald Trump about the wobble, which is in his administration now, which is the tariffs, he falls back on he has to do it. He didn't have to do it.
Starting point is 00:06:55 As he pointed out later in the interview, no other president took it on in modern times because they knew it was so risky. But he's doing the right thing on paper. You're a trillion-dollar trade deficit here. And that's outrageous. So this is undefined. And that's why some people who once appointed the president
Starting point is 00:07:22 and now are a little scared about it. Okay. The second one is also about economics, because that is the key. President Trump has succeeded on the border. He succeeded in the deportation area. I believe that he'll succeed overseas. But economically is a big question mark. Roll it. When do you think, though, it's going to turn around economically so that people aren't frightened? Do you have a time line on it? Yeah, I mean, it's a very fair question. Building plants, building equipment, building so much right now, you probably heard it could be $8 trillion, it could be more than $8 trillion of new investments. Outside in one of my offices waiting for me is the president and chairman of Eli Lilly. And I had, I just left, you take a look, IBM was here today.
Starting point is 00:08:18 IBM was here. They're spending billions of dollars. I had some of the biggest, the biggest Apple, as you know, is spending $500 billion here, building their plants. And they've already started in the United States. As you know, they built most of them in China. We had the biggest companies in the world. I had a conference here just about an hour and a half ago, and some of the people are still here. They remain.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Some of the people are watching your show tonight. But they're spending, it could be close, I think we're over $8 trillion of new investment. That's unheard of. But the folks don't see it. They don't see it. And they do see their statements, stock market, statements, bonds, and all that every day. And that's the problem. Now, I'm not doubting what the president is saying.
Starting point is 00:09:05 I believe that he's going to bring in a lot more investment into the United States. I don't know if the tariffs, the amount of money that's coming in from them, is going to override the next. negatives in the market. No one could tell you that with any certainty. And again, people believe what they want to believe. President Trump believes that this is going to turn the economy upward, and he's going to be a very successful president, a la Ronald Reagan. That's what he believes. Ronald Reagan believed that he was going to bring down a Soviet Union. Press didn't. This MailChimp-Firific jingle is brought to you by MailChimp. Press hammered him for all the defense spending. Donald Trump believes he's going to turn that economy around. in a big way, historic way. Okay. Now, third soundbite.
Starting point is 00:10:57 That picture of Zelensky and Trump at the Vatican at the Pope's funeral really affected me personally as a journalist. Very unusual, rule of tape. And what were you and Zelensky talking about when you were nose-to-nose in the Vatican? I was telling him that it's a very good thing. thing. If we can produce a deal that you sign it, because Russia is much bigger and much stronger. Russia is just chugging forward. It's a big, strong country. By the way, not nearly as strong as the United States, because I rebuilt our military in my first term. They gave a lot of it away in Afghanistan, and Afghanistan is one of the reasons the incompetent. We had an incompetent president,
Starting point is 00:11:47 grossly incompetent. He should have never been president. But we had a man that didn't know what the hell he was doing. And Afghanistan showed the stupidity of our leader and the weakness of the military. We have a great military. I knocked out ISIS in three weeks. You got the deal with Zelensky on the minerals.
Starting point is 00:12:09 That means the United States is going to have a presence in Ukraine. Is that going to inhibit Putin, do you think? Well, it's good. But the reason I did that is that we're in for $350 billion or close to it, whereas Europe is only in it for $100 billion. So we get some of our investment back. And then the president went on to say that Europe, the EU nations, NATO nations, lent Ukraine the money, and we just gave it to them.
Starting point is 00:12:37 So he believes that this mineral deal will bring some of that money back to the USA. Again, that absolutely could happen, no guarantee, but it could. But the real reason that the United States wanted that deal is because it gives us a presence in Ukraine, an economic presence that has to be guarded. Okay? So if Putin sweeps in to our industries there, that opposite big time. All right. Now, the deal they made is not what it seems to be. You have not been told. So, Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, doesn't reimburse the USA. It allows the USA preferential rights to harvest minerals, all right? And they're there, but we don't know exactly where they are, the minerals.
Starting point is 00:13:37 And the agreement says the future military assistance of Ukraine will count. as an investment, okay? So there'll be a fund set up. So we'll get reimbursed. What Trump wants to do is he'll give Ukraine the money, but he wants them to pay it back in the form of mineral sales. And I think that's a fairly good deal. All right, so that's what happened.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Now finally, it was a pretty intense interview, and I'll tell you where you can see it all in a moment. So I wanted to use some levity. I want to, you know, because you don't want to leave everybody You go, all right, roll it. Okay. Stephen A. Smith may run for president, as you know. Do you have any advice for Stephen A if he launches the run?
Starting point is 00:14:27 No, Stephen A, he's a good guy. He's a smart guy. I love watching him. He's got great entertainment skills, which is very important. People watch him. You know, a lot of these Democrats I watch, I say they have no chance. I've been pretty good at picking. people and picking candidates and I will tell you I'd love to see him run no there you go now will he
Starting point is 00:14:50 run uh at this point no but who knows three and a half years down a road uh trump has opened the door for every populist candidate so we are very uh grateful president trump for giving us the time i'm one of these arrogant guys who goes hey i got to give you that i told the president uh when i was booking him, that this would be very widely watched all over the world, and the number is support that. And then over the weekend, you get another surge of people who didn't quite understand what was happening. And I'll give you all the details about where you can see it if you missed it. On Friday, and this is important, there is a one-hour special on News Nation at 8 p.m. Friday, okay, tomorrow, me discussing the first hundred days in a historical way.
Starting point is 00:15:50 And you'll be very, very surprised. So I hope you watch that. If you miss it on Friday, they're going to run it, we run at 10 p.m. on Sunday. All right, we appreciate News Nation doing that. All right. So after the Trump interview last night, then there was dissent. as there should be. So they brought in James Carville, who hates Donald Trump. Rule of the tape. Well, first thing, I would have never started a trade war. Okay, so you're okay with $1 trillion going out when it comes in.
Starting point is 00:16:21 You know, a prosperous nation is always going to buy more from an unprosperous nation. We're always going to buy more T-shirts. Well, let me finish, man. No, no. I'm just giving the rule of trade. We're going to always buy more T-shirt from Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka is going to buy a trillion aircraft for a much.
Starting point is 00:16:41 And the fact that you do have a trade deficit is an indication that you have a prosperous country and you're buying things that come over here. So you're fine with it. You're fine with the trillion dollar and Biden was fine with it. I'm not. Because he didn't do anything. First of all, I am not fine with starting a trade war.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Okay. That is a disaster. What do you do about it if not what Trump is doing? So Trump, you don't like what he's doing. What would you do because the issue would be cheap? It's an excellent question. The first thing I would do is I would not extend these billion-ass tax cuts,
Starting point is 00:17:15 and I would not pay for him by clobbering the middle class and the low middle class by cutting Medicaid expenses of which he said he wasn't even cut Medicaid. Go watch the budget that's been submitted. It's already got $600. He said he was going to end the war. There's nothing about cutting Medicaid in the budget. This is your propaganda, Jim. Did he say I'm not, did he say or not say, I'm going to end the Ukraine war?
Starting point is 00:17:38 And you know it. No, you can't. You can't say it's in the budget. There's a Medicaid cut when there is it. Excuse me for thinking why you were interrupting me. I am. This is ridiculous. And he does it every night.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Can I make a point? Yes, go ahead. He was going to end the Ukraine war on day one. Oh, come on. It's absurd. What did Biden do for four years in there? Nothing. He, he, I didn't drive me nuts.
Starting point is 00:18:04 You know, they all fall back on that hyperbola, you know, ended on day one and all this. Okay, but, you know, the Democratic Party, and that's where Carver lives, of course. Another wrong with that. They disseminate every morning. We've gone over this with you, the talking points, and the talking points are that Trump's going to cut Medicaid. That's not true. I have not seen any cut in any proposed bill of Medicaid. And Carville hasn't either because it doesn't exist.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Now, if it does exist, I'm going to report it, and I'm not going to be happy about it because the president said he's not going to cut it. But Carver runs around doing all this stuff, and he gets away with it, but not with me. All right, so the raging Cajun got a little raging right back at him. Then it was Congressman Jake Alkenclas of Massachusetts. He is very liberal.
Starting point is 00:19:06 He is a Trump hater. Roll the table. $4.6 trillion have been wiped off the value of the stock market under President Trump's 10-year. Okay, that's people's retirement accounts. That's how they save for their kids' college education. That's how they ensure that they have financial freedom as they enter their golden years. Hold on. Hold on. Party politics bores me to death.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Okay? You guys are champions on. It's not a maggot thing. It's a party. You can't possibly think that within 100 days, Donald Trump has wrecked the entire U.S. economy. That's absurd. Nobody would make that statement other than a partisan player. You've got to give.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Now, Trump may fail, and he knows if he does, his legacy is blown up, and he doesn't have a long time, as one of our audience members made the point. There's some urgency, but to just say, oh, a trillion dollars is gone when the stock market, could go up 5,000 points in two weeks if the trade deals that Trump is saying are going to happen do happen. So let's stay in the real world and let's try to put the party nonsense aside, okay? And it's not party nonsense. It is nonsense, Congressman, and you know you're reading off a script. You're bringing in a script that you've said 50 times in the last three days. It's nonsense. Bill, don't talk to me about nonsense. When I'm out of my district, talking to small business owners who are laying off their workers,
Starting point is 00:20:40 I am talking to social service providers. What's the unemployment rate in the country, Congressman? What's the unemployment rate in the country? What is the unemployment rate in the country? And at the same time, you don't know. At the same time as he is adding $17.13. You don't know what the unemployment rate in the country is. It's 2.4%.
Starting point is 00:21:01 this? He didn't know. It's 4.2%. To all of this, I go around, everybody's getting thrown out. I mean, you know, look. And the reason this is so out of control is because nobody does this anymore. You know, when I left the factor eight years ago at Fox, it's what we did. And then it disappeared off the face of the earth because the stations, the networks, don't want it. It's hot. And the anchors are afraid. Nobody's going to confront that guy. And we tried to get him on the no-spin news. Okay? He would not give us any time, any date, anywhere, nothing. He's afraid to come on this form. And I treat him respectfully, but he can't lie. He can't.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I'm not letting him do that. That was the rule on the O'Reilly factor. That's what Barney Frank got. Don't lie. You're going to have an opinion. I'm going to have an opinion. Are you ready to dairy-free your mind? This summer, melt away your dairy-free expectations with so-delicious dairy-free frozen desserts. Starting point is 00:23:04 What you just saw doesn't happen anymore. And that's why, you know, people are bored to death with this. Okay. If you are a premium or concierge member to Bill O'Reilly.com, we have a special 30-minute. We've cut it down the best 30 minutes of the town hall. But it's a firewall. You've got to be a premium member. Go to Bill O'Reilly.
Starting point is 00:23:28 dot com sign up you get a free book any book you want and you can see anything that we have including that 30 minute thing that's the best way to see this um and then on friday as i mentioned we have this special coming up uh bill o'reilly's first 100 days of donald trump here's a preview of that go i'll tell you an inside story so on st patrick's today i got invited to be in a cabinet meeting down at the oval office sitting next next to you're to me it was musk so must turns to me and he says how am i doing and i said you're doing well you're right on track because we can't have this kind of unbelievable waste of taxpayer dollars but the presentation needs to be toned down Elon Musk started by promising you could get rid of two trillion
Starting point is 00:24:20 dollars we are now at less than five percent of that that's all hyperbole look if you're going to go back and quote Donald Trump or Elon Musk or any of these people about what they say and then what actually happens, you're going to have to do a telephone, all right? You're going to have to do 24 hours street. That's what these guys do. I'm young, Bill. You're old. I can do it.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Let's go. Okay. Thanks for pointing that out. But if you don't get it by now, they say anything. Right. But in terms of what matters to the folks, if you would say, okay, the amendment. The amount the Doge has saved is statistically insignificant. It's like a family of four saving a McDonald's meal over the whole year.
Starting point is 00:25:04 No, it's a thousand bucks ahead right now. That's where it stands. If you believe their accounting. Okay. If I believe anything. It's a thousand bucks ahead. And this is an ongoing concern. Well, you don't want me to take what they say literally,
Starting point is 00:25:17 but then you want me to take all their accounting literally. I don't want you to take anything literally. I'm telling you that we have no... factual basis to challenge that accounting, do we? Okay, so we get into everything on Trump's first 100 days, and I think you'll be very interested to see it. Friday night, News Nation, 8 p.m. Eastern, and if you miss it, then you can get Sunday at 10 p.m.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Right? Okay. I'm not going to do the Garcia case because I explain. it yesterday, it's a little redundant. Next week, depositions start in Maryland, and then I'll ramp it up. It's an important case to see if the federal government can tie this Garcia guy who was deported to El Salvador. No criminal record here or there into MS-13. The tattoo thing's not going to do it. They're not even going to introduce that. But this guy got stopped in Tennessee in a very dubious way.
Starting point is 00:26:25 And that is the key to this, okay, on December 1st, 2022. He was caught with eight people undocumented in Tennessee by the Highway Patrol. They let them all go, which was insane. But he's a people smuggler, this Garcia. And that's what MS-13 does, drugs, extortion, and people-smuggling. Kamala Harris. So she gives a speech last night, Emerge America, Women's Group, San Francisco, San Francisco, you can imagine what that crew is.
Starting point is 00:27:00 I don't really know much about Ms. Harris now. I think she's going to run for Governor California, as I said. But here's a taste of what she said last night. Who saw that video from a couple of weeks ago, the one of the elephants at the San Diego Zoo during the earthquake? Google it if you've not seen it. So that scene has been on my mind. Everybody's asked me what you've been thinking about these days, well.
Starting point is 00:27:35 So in the video, for those who haven't seen it, here those elephants were. And as soon as they felt the earth shaking beneath their feet, they got in a circle and stood next to each other to protect the most vulnerable. Think about it. What a powerful metaphor. Because we know
Starting point is 00:28:03 those who try to incite fear are most effective when they divide and conquer. All right. Now, I think there's a cogent point there. The elephants, for the San Diego Zoo, there was an earthquake, 5.2. and they all gathered around, as Ms. Harris said, to protect the youngest elephant who's seven years old.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I'm not sure how we tie this into the Trump administration, but the cliche is the elephant in the room, but these elephants are outside. But I figured I'd give you a little insight into what Kamala Harris is doing. Emerson Poll, the question, would you vote the same way that you did in November? So this is startling. 93% of Kamala Harris voters say yes, 93%, and 94% of Trump voters say yes, according to Emerson. So even though there's dissent about the tariffs, little panic, little fear, 94%. Now, Amoson is pretty good. They're getting much better.
Starting point is 00:29:21 It's a thousand registered voters, they poll. But I thought that was very interesting. Donald Trump tonight will be giving the commencement address, the University of Alabama. Nick Saban, former coach of the Crimson Tide, will be there as well. It should be a nice event. It will be 6.30 p.m. some of the cables will take it, I'm sure. Tuscaloosa, Alabama. So, in any way, can you imagine Donald Trump giving a commencement at Harvard?
Starting point is 00:29:51 Think there's a Gulf? Big, yeah. FBI demotes agents. Okay. This is a good story. 2020, George Floyd riots. A bunch of FBI agents took a knee. Now, let's see the picture. They did this in Washington, D.C. These guys said they did it to be in sympathy with the demonstrators because they didn't want any more trouble, which I think is BS. I think they were putting their politics on display. Well, the people who did that, at least four of them, have been demotions. promoted by the new FBI chief, Cash Patel. Okay? You set the table, put on a playlist,
Starting point is 00:30:30 even made the lasagna from scratch, and now you're wearing it. OxyClean MaxForce spray tackles tough, set in stains the first time. Adulting is hard. Fighting stains shouldn't be. OxyClean Maxforce. It's not clean unless it's OxyClean.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Put us in a box. Go ahead. That just gives us something to break out of. Because the next generation 2025 GMC terrain elevation is raising the standard of what comes standard. As far as expectations go, why meet them when you can shatter them? What we choose to challenge, we challenge completely.
Starting point is 00:31:09 We are professional grade. Visit GMC.com to learn more. Long memory, that's five years ago. Amber Ruffin, nobody knows who she is. I didn't. She was hired to give the comedy at the White House Correspondents' dinner last Saturday, and then they fired her because they find out she's a hater. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:32 They knew that. They fired her because they got a lot of heat. This is the White House correspondence, you know. So she shows up on the view yesterday. Go. People are saying that Trump did a bad job 100 days in. I strongly disagree. This man has done everything he has set out.
Starting point is 00:31:50 to do right um black i'm terrified i'm scared for my trans friends and um people who we know and love our neighbors are disappeared and that was the goal and he did it yeah i don't know anybody who's been disappeared if anybody out there knows anybody who's disappeared anybody at all bill at bill o'reilly dot com bill at bill o'reilly dot com and i'll try to find him now she's alone okay but why is Disney and ABC? Starting point is 00:33:38 upside honey coupons dot com okay so you can get money back they're going to give you free money it's worth the time to investigate. All right, this day in history, May 1st, 1915. It's a very interesting story. So the British passenger ship, Lusitania, takes off from New York City, and it's going to England, on Liverpool, where the Beatles were born. And it floats by Ireland, the southern coast, off cork. And it gets torpedoed by a judge.
Starting point is 00:34:17 German U-boat. This is 1915 in the middle of World War I. The German ambassador told Americans, hey, if you take a British ship into the zone, we're going to blow it up. They were up front about it. And they did. They blew up the Lusitania. About 1,200 people were killed, including 128 Americans. Now, up to that point, most Americans do not want any involvement in this European in war, this World War I. But once they torpedoed, the Germans torpedoed, that passenger ship, then public sentiment turned against it. Two years later, the U.S. got into the war, and Germany lost. But what this does, this day in history 110 years ago, shows you the brutality of the German government in World War I. When I talk about Hitler Nazis, they didn't come on a scene yet.
Starting point is 00:35:09 The German mentality, right, in the 20th century, was off the chart brutal. And German Americans are the largest ethnic group in America. So, very interesting to know your history. That happened. The Lusitania. Okay, we're going to take a quick break, and then we'll be back, and we've got a final thought. Okay, final thought of the day. I've been saying that the Leland special on Friday is at eight.
Starting point is 00:35:41 I was told that, but apparently it's at nine. This drives me absolutely crazy, right? So I guess it's at nine. But I was told it was eight. Now I'm going to be patient. Not going to lash out. Would like to. I'd like to lash.
Starting point is 00:36:06 I'm not going to lash. So, I guess it's 9 o'clock on Friday. Oh, I can't tell you. I sat down, I looked. I'm not going to tell you who told me. He said, what time is this special? 8 o'clock. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:25 So I look like an idiot. But it's 9 o'clock Friday, 10 p.m. Sunday. Now, this is actually a good final thought, because, I don't know, 10 years ago, maybe 15, I would have really gotten angry. Yelled, maybe use bad words. But now, I'm inside, I'm still a little boiling, but outside, I'm going to let it go. Right. But it happens to all of us, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:37:02 They ask, you try to do due diligence, you try to get everything in order, try to be accurate, and then somebody misleads you. I don't think they did it on purpose, they're just too lazy to check it out. Oh yeah, I said, hey, no. It's a nine. Anyway, quite a week, huh? Hope you enjoyed it.
