Starting point is 00:00:30 This family is on the brink of Civil War Mobland, the hit original series is now streaming on Paramount Plus. We are the Harrogans. Don't know than it? And Google us. From the underworld of Guy Ritchie. Do you want to step up the ladder?

New season is now streaming on Paramount Plus. Hey Bill O'Reilly here. Welcome to the No Spin News, Wednesday, September 23rd, 2006.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Stand up for your country. Well, it's on. The rumble is on. The rumble between China and the USA. The rumble in tuxedo. So she's here. You don't like it here. I can tell you that.
Starting point is 00:01:37 And he's in for two days. And it's a big exposition. but very, very important. And that is the subject of this evening's Talking Points memo. So in very rare occurrence, President Trump met she in an arrival ceremony. Okay, red carpet, president's out there, you'll see it on the news. It'll be all over the place. and then there will be a respite because they're flying from China and not an easy flight.
Starting point is 00:02:21 And Thursday morning, Melania and Donald Trump will host Xi and his wife on the South Lawn, and there'll be a dog and pony show which features hundreds of people, hundreds. And both President Trump and President she will make remarks tomorrow. And remarks will be along the lines of we want to work for peace and prosperity, nothing different. No threats of annihilation or anything like that. Then tomorrow night is the big state dinner. and a lot of American tech people are there, Bezos, Musk, Pichet, Michael Dell, and that signals there'll be a lot of AI. So, AI and trade are going to be the two big topics.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I'd love to see President Trump put the arm on Xi about Iran. because she is supporting the mullahs. Possible. Possible, because China needs us. They need us. And then on Friday, before they go home to China, she and his wife and the Trumps will visit the National Archives in D.C. That's the last thing on earth she wants to do,
Starting point is 00:03:59 but diplomacy calls for it. Okay. So as many of you know, I traveled to Beijing in May of 2025 and met with the Politburo there, the big shots. She was not there, but she watched it on videotape. And the reason they invited me is because I know President Trump pretty well, and I'm a straight shooter. And the Chinese officials watch me on.
Starting point is 00:04:29 YouTube. Isn't that amazing? Just amazing to me. So they issued an invitation to me to go over and discuss President Trump. That was the big topic. Now, I had to run that by the president. I can't just go over there and meet with the Politburo without him knowing. And he said, fine. I paid my own way. I don't want anybody paying my way. Okay? 90 minutes, maybe a little more. I I sat in a room at the Beijing Club. My son was there as my bodyguard. And 13, high-ranking Chinese, quiz me about Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:05:10 I've gone over this. It is a chapter in confronting America. All the ins and outs and what happened to us is in this book. So you might consider that if you're looking for more information about my trip. Now, the reason I'm bringing it up is because China is a different place now than it was a year and a half ago.
Starting point is 00:05:38 And how is it different? The economy is very soft, and that is a danger to Xi himself. Okay, she is 73 years old. He is a classic dictator. No dissent breached. Okay. So China grew only 0.4% year to year in August. Dismal. Dismal. Okay. Fixed asset investment dropped 7.2%. Real estate investment in China dropped 20%.
Starting point is 00:06:18 China needs the USA. That is our big advantage. China needs to start selling things again. to us without tariffs, without impediments. Now, Trump is going to drive a hard bargain. He is. He's still mad about COVID Trump, because it impacted his first term.
Starting point is 00:06:45 The Chinese were 100% responsible for that COVID epidemic that killed millions of people. There will be all smiles, no threat. because it doesn't get President Trump anywhere to alienate cheat. So some people don't like the fact that the Chinese are even involved, were even invited to this. But Trump has two negotiating postures.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Belicosity, word of the day, where he says, I'm going to blow up Iran, or charm. charm will be on display the next couple of days. Now, China has no respect for the United Nations. Why would it? He's not going to obey anything the U.S. says. So she didn't show up to give a speech there. Some minor Chinese official did.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Okay? But the summit between Trump and China is ultra important because we have to start to generate. rate more comfort economically for our people. So macro, we're fine. Lowest poverty rate, highest affluence rate under Trump, not reported, of course. But day to day, prices are too high. And China can help bring those prices down. So that's where we are. When I was there, and again, I'm injecting myself here, you can read about it in confronting America. The emphasis was on, if we, the Chinese, do this, how will Donald Trump react?
Starting point is 00:08:51 That was the emphasis, the question is coming to me. And I'll take credit partially because the director of internal security, tough guy, put you in a gulag. I said, if you want President Trump to cooperate with China, you've got to give him something. And this guy said to me, well, what would that be? And I said, get out of the fentanyl business. And it was silence in the room. And I thought my son was going to pass out.
Starting point is 00:09:26 And I stared the guy down. And he said, well, we're not in the fentanyl business. Make the precursors. And then I delivered the crusher to him. And he spoke English. Half of them spoke English, half of them had their headphones. I said, do you need to be in that business? Right now, according to U.S. Intel, China's pretty much out of that business.
Starting point is 00:09:51 So, of course, I'm going to take partial credit, even though I probably not deserved. And that's the memo. Okay. So another thing that happened today, and we still don't know the resolution of it, is that a federal judge heard a petition by CNN, MS, and Politico, to stop the banishment of those organizations. Now, you all know what the thing is that Trump said they're fake news. They don't have any right to be here, so we're not going to let them on campus. That's essentially what it was. So they sued, and now a judge has to decide what is permissible under the First Amendment.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Now, I'm going to play you a soundbite from Jake Tapper in a few minutes, which shows how distorted the press is. It has to do with me. Calculating route to avoid seeing poverty. Turn left to bypass the unhoused youth sleeping on the street. Then keep right to skip by the lines of people waiting for food. Steer clear of the crowded shelter turning people away, then take the next exit. Let's stop looking away and get in the way of rising poverty. You know the same way you can skip an ad? I get it. I'm Siaiaa and I live in Ice Cove. I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned. And today I'm still figuring it out.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Somehow things usually get worse before they get better. Apparently, that's how I roll. So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride. Stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC Gem. Okay, last night on CNN, it's outrageous. When do you hear this? But anyway, it's Judge Timothy Kelly at Trump appointee, and I suspect he's going to lift the banishment of those agencies. But I could be wrong.
Starting point is 00:12:16 And here's why. There are two different things involved now than there were a year ago, five years ago, or even in 1778 with Madison, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. One is that the corporate media is now actively trying to help the Democratic Party. And there's no doubt about it. So the founders never thought that a free press that was a, that was allowed to give the news to Americans would then ally itself with a political movement, a political party.
Starting point is 00:13:06 They believe that there would always be opinion, but essentially the press would play it straight. No. The second thing is the suppression of news. So I've made this example, and now other people are stealing it all over the place. It's all right with me. There was an announcement that U.S. poverty rate is at its lowest level by the Census Bureau, and the affluent rate of American homes is at its highest level. Blacked out.
Starting point is 00:13:42 CNN didn't cover it. Pretty good story. Didn't cover it. Outrageous. They suppress the news. So at this point, the Constitution, all right, that protects freedom of the press, is actually protecting dishonesty. The First Amendment's protecting dishonesty.
Starting point is 00:14:09 That's the argument I would make if I were in front of the judge. Say, look, it's not the same ballgame. Yeah, the words are there. But the press is now in politics. They're trying to advance a radical, secular agenda. And we're protecting that. Now, that's the argument I would make. But I don't believe the judges at the federal level are going to get into that.
Starting point is 00:14:43 They're just going to look at the words in the Constitution. It's like the border babies. the babies they came across and if you're born a USA American citizen. Same thing. Everybody knows that's a con. Everybody knows it's an industry run by the cartels.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Get that kid over and he begins an American and then you get his family over. Okay? Judges aren't going to disassemble the First Amendment. Trump knows that, I think.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And the only reason he did this was to raise awareness of press corruption. And he doesn't have anything to lose, so Trump loses. So what? He creates this story that people are paying attention to. And that's why I believe he did it. So he can't lose the president.
Starting point is 00:15:38 If the judge says, now you're going to go on back in? Okay. The solution to the problem is let them back in. But don't call it. call on them. Just let them stand there in the White House briefing room. Wave at them. Don't call on them if you feel that they're corrupt. Okay, so as I mentioned earlier this week, a lot of my journalistic friends are mad at me for taking that point of view. And I understand it's a lot more
Starting point is 00:16:16 subtle than most, my analysis of this, and there are people who don't believe the press is corrupt. They don't, because they don't want to believe it. You could have 50 tons of evidence, saying, I don't believe it. What are you going to do? So they're mad at me. I kind of just deflect it with humor, saying, you know, I'm always right, why are you arguing with me. joining us now from North Haven, Connecticut is Wayne Unger, Associate Professor of Law, Quinnipiac University, School of Law, and he is a guy who watches the Constitution very, very closely.
Starting point is 00:17:00 So my point of view is fairly clear that you aren't going to get a change in the First Amendment. You agree with that, correct? Well, change in what way, Bill? Because I think... The change is, yeah, you can banish CNN. That would be a change. I think we agree on the outcome here, which is that the banishment is going to be reversed.
Starting point is 00:17:33 But this could be, I will admit this, it could be a test case that works its way up. to the Supreme Court that actually gives us some precedent that say the Trump administration is going to like, but we don't have that precedent today. We don't have that case law today. If there's one thing I'll say that the Trump administration is good at is actually generating these cases for constitutional law scholars like myself to essentially enjoy reading because we've never had to answer these constitutional questions before, for better or for worse, for that matter. So do you believe the Constitution is now protecting corruption?
Starting point is 00:18:19 Well, it's important to recognize that the Constitution applies to government actors, and the First Amendment, as well as the remainder of the Bill of Rights, for that matter, act as a limitation on what government can do. So in this way, government is prohibited from, in applying it to this scenario, from discriminating based on viewpoint or based on subject matter. And that's what the Trump administration has done by saying, we're going to allow these press organizations, but we're not going to allow these other press organizations simply because we disagree with their reporting.
Starting point is 00:18:57 But they don't say that. That's not what Trump says. he says they're not legitimate purveyors of the news because, A, they make things up, B, they suppress things, and C, he hasn't said this, but he should. They're aligned with a political party. So they're not legitimate news agencies. Why would I let them in a building? I'll push back a little bit on you, Bill, because he actually is on, he's recorded saying that they publish fake news. And of course, we can agree. or disagree, we can evaluate whether it's fake or truth or whether it's suppression or whether
Starting point is 00:19:35 it's biased in a way. But he actually expressed that the ban is based on a disagreement in the viewpoint of that subject matter, of that speech. And that is the unconstitutional part. I often tell my students here that, you know, for whether you like or dislike Trump, he, from a legal perspective, from a lawyer perspective, he's not a very good client. He's not a very good client because he's all over the place and his lawyers aren't going to say what he said. Lawyers are going to come in and say, look, they're perverting the First Amendment. They're using the First Amendment to protect a corrupt enterprise and nothing to do with journalism. And you can make a very strong case, Professor, on Politico, MS, and CNN that that that
Starting point is 00:20:26 That's absolutely true. Because not only do they suppress stories like the economic story, but they banish. They see it as one guy, Jennings, I think his name is, one guy, one guy that sticks up for Trump. And the rest of the fleet, 50, 60 individuals hate them. Come on, that's not any kind of legitimate news organization. I want to, so sticking to the constitutional part here, Bill. And so even if we accept, right, the premise here, which is that they are reporting false news, fake news, misinformation, disinformation, they are totally biased against Trump.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Even let's just accept that for a second. Well, the First Amendment also for decades has been read to protect fake or false speech just as much as true. speech. And the whole concept written by Justice Holmes, I believe, was the first one who wrote this down, is that the First Amendment is about promoting a marketplace of ideas to where if we have false speech, then that is countered with the true speech. And the theory goes, the truth shall compete in the market and ultimately rise above. I understand the theory, but it's advanced now to the fact where you have agencies. like Disney, NBC News, CNN, actually helping a political party get elected. That's kind of new.

BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with Eye Gaming, Ontario.
Starting point is 00:23:06 I don't, so again, Bill respectfully pushed back here. Sure. That's not new because we can actually go back to the 1700s, the founding era, and we can look at newspapers or similar, like pamphlets, that supported federalism and supported anti-federalism. Right. That was a political issue, right? So you had essentially the two parties, federalism and anti-federalists, saying things about what we should do from a constitutional perspective,
Starting point is 00:23:35 whether we should adopt it or not, whether the state should ratify it or not. And we had newspapers picking aside and arguing for that side. But that was a one-off, okay? And we've had those throughout history, as you rightfully pointed out, okay, that there have been issues that conservatives are over here and liberals are over there. But now you have an active involvement by very wealthy corporations to get a political party elected, not to just favor them, not to just say, hey, we like that policy. it's get Trump out of there, get the Republicans out of there. That's different than the past things.
Starting point is 00:24:30 So the severity of it, I think, or the propensity of it is what you're hitting on. And I don't have any data or facts or figures to counter your assertion there. So I don't want to say whether the propensity or the severity of this media bias, corporate media bias and potentially fake news is any greater than it was before. But what I do have information on is the federalist versus the anti-federalist and the papers and the pamphlets that supported those. That wasn't a one-off because you actually had many decades after 1776 with a bunch of other papers that picked sides.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Well, if you can come up with an era or a presidential election where the national press was trying to get somebody elected, some party elected, I'd be open to hear it. But I don't know of any. I mean, it was always a division based upon newspaper sales or television ratings. One more question for you. The Constitution is there to protect the American people, right? To protect us. Yes.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Okay. So we all agree on that. if you have a powerful corporation suppressing information that's vitally important that's not protecting. And so when it goes to the Supreme Court, and I hope it does, okay, that's the dilemma. Now, three of the court just says,
Starting point is 00:26:07 they're going to rule in CNN's favor no matter what. We know that. But the other six, they're going to go, it's different now. It's the money that controls these massive corporations is being used to change the way Americans live. And that's a tough one because the First Amendment is protecting the suppression. Last word. So certainly I think it's a reasonable argument to say that the First Amendment is providing a level of protection of false.
Starting point is 00:26:46 speech, but it always has to be, to be fair. But if your argument is that we should get money out of politics, corporations out of politics. Well, it has, but that's what I'm gathering from what you're saying here is that corporate media. I would move the protection of the press to another amendment. You may even have to write another one. And just on a personal note, if I were President Trump, who doesn't have anything to lose in this fight at all, I wouldn't have banned them. I wouldn't, okay? I would have shunned them. And, Professor, I've been in, I've been in his business 50 years, 50 years, okay? I know what's going on. I know the players. I know the people who run these companies. I know what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:27:41 And they're not looking out for the folks. They're not. I think there's be an interesting subject in your law class. So we appreciate your. I'm going to say, I think you are on to something where there are lots of factors at play that are influencing media and stories and what is being reported and what is not being reported. Yeah. I'll say that, you know, you and I, we would disagree on a number of political issues, but I'll say I am glad to be here. and I applaud you, Bill, for inviting me because... No, no, we always do that.
Starting point is 00:28:19 I mean, we're not part of this suppression of a ball. We're not part of that. It's balanced reporting, and that's what I think we need more of. That's my point. I don't know if it's balanced or not, but we, since I've been blackballed, then we talk about that in confronting America. I mean, I'm sympathetic. I want to hear everybody's point of view.
Starting point is 00:28:39 Now, just hang tough because I'm going to play a soundbite from Jim. Jake Tapper, I don't know how popular he is at Quipiac, which demonstrates beyond any reasonable doubt that the Constitution is protecting false speech and suppression. Okay, let me set it up. So yesterday, Tapper comes on the air. I didn't see it because I don't watch him, but I got calls all over the place. and he uses me as an example of being a hypocrite. Roll the tape.
Starting point is 00:29:19 Now, I was a White House correspondent for ABC News at the time, and all of us in broadcast and cable news stood up against the Obama White House doing that. To the stay, I continue to get heat from some on the left for standing up for that principle, but it was and remains an important principle. Calculating route to avoid seeing poverty, Turn left to bypass the unhoused youth sleeping on the street.

Starting point is 00:30:32 BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with Eye Gaming Ontario. You can't have the most powerful people in the country, the Obama administration, basically dictating who covers the news. President Obama is trying to exercise his power to intimidate. And I think that even the most left-wing journalists understand, hey, we can't have this in America if we want to have a free press. We can't have this in America if we want to have a free press. Bill O'Reilly was absolutely right then, although he has the opposite take now. That's false.
Starting point is 00:31:10 That's just not true. Okay, I don't have the opposite take now. What I have is new information that the situation has gotten so wildly out of control because of President Trump, the hatred. That is a whole different story than it was back when Barack Obama was whining about Fox News. And as an aside, Obama treated me very well.
Starting point is 00:31:40 I interviewed him three times. I had a number of phone conversations, and one thing drove me absolutely nuts. Again, that's in the book. But he wasn't aggressive toward me at all. Sean Hannity was. And Hannity and I discuss this today on his radio program. It's on Bill O'Reilly.com.
Starting point is 00:32:05 But Tapper says, although he has the opposite take now, That's just not true. And anybody researching a story would know that. But that doesn't fit into Tapper's narrative that I'm a hypocrite. Okay, that's what he wanted to establish, and that's what he tells his viewers, and how would his viewers know? So they're just going, look at O'Reilly. That's fake news. That's what is in play, along with the support.
Starting point is 00:32:39 oppression and the coupling of the media, as I said, with the Democratic Party. Fascinating story. So tomorrow we're going to drop, we'll do it live in a different format. Just one week is a format. Usually I interview a person. Now, I'm going to interview a person, but I'm really interviewing AI. tomorrow. It's so fascinating you're not going to believe it. Okay. The guy is a professor at MIT, because I said to my staff, get the best guy, who works in the AI area. AI is dangerous.
Starting point is 00:33:27 That's it. No fake news here. We devote close to an hour spelling out the danger to you and me. from AI. That will drop tomorrow. Okay, and we hope you all watch it and react, bill at bill o'Reilly.com, bill at bill o'Reilly.com. As a setup to that, the FBI was hacked by a criminal outfit called Shiny Hunters, an international cybercrime and digital extortion group. The FBI, they're completely. system was hacked all personal information about agents, personnel, and their families. Okay? Now they're looking for shiny hunters, probably in Pakistan somewhere.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Now, if these criminals can do that, can hack into the FBI's computer system, you imagine what AI can do? Whoa. So I know you're going to get a lot out of this AI interview, which again drops tomorrow. And even if these shiny idiots are caught, very few people are convicted of hacking. Very, very few. Because they're usually not in the United States. All right.
Starting point is 00:35:04 Cell phone. We all have them now. I think it's 95% of Americans have them. But you're going to pay a price. We'll all pay a price. Median bill a month, $1,200, no, a year, I'm sorry. $1,200 a year is the medium. Half more, half less.
Starting point is 00:35:24 It's the median means. 88% of households have the phone, and they're getting billed for the phone. 88%. Here's where you pay the most. Delaware, Montana, Alaska, Kentucky, New Jersey. Okay, those are the most expensive. Smart life.
Starting point is 00:35:48 So we all need the cell phone. I hate the cell phone. But people have to get in touch with me, fast. And I need information, fast. So it's a positive on that, but just carrying this stupid thing around with me, drive me nuts. I don't do TikTok or any of that stupid stuff, purely business. We'll be back with a final thought in a moment.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Okay, final thought, as I mentioned, I'm going to be on Chris Cuomo's program tonight, News Nation, 8 p.m. I'm sure the press stuff is going to come up, and we will have a rollicking good time. At least I will. I don't know about Cuomo, but I'm going to have a good time. because I'm on the side of the angels. The angels don't necessarily want me on their side, but I am.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Thank you for watching and listening to the No Spin News. We're all over it this weekend. Check into Bill O'Reilly.com. Got to have a column that you're going to like. Don't forget that AI tomorrow. That's an important segment you should watch. Calculating Route to a. Avoid seeing poverty.
