Starting point is 00:00:00 Good day. This is Buntavista, a speaky over radio program broadcast across Australia and the territories by 46KUM and ABC Radio National. A special hello today to our friends in Southern Rhodesia for a British tric and thin. I'm Theo and as customary we shall now all take a moment to kiss our portrait of King George the Sixth, which I'll now pass around to my colleagues in the studio. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no one wants to hear this. I'd say, muc. Joining me today is Scientition, an author of the book, through the scientific method, proof that missionary thiiiiiiiiiiiiii po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po po is is is is is is is is is is is that is that is that is that that that that th is the th to the to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to that that that that that that th for that the the th for the the the the th for the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the oday is a scientist and author of the book, through the scientific method, proof that missionary position is the only possible engagement in spousal contact, Mr. Andrew
Starting point is 00:01:12 Law, Mr. Law, as a man of science and good decency, can you please explain your results? Uh, yes. This is the only way my wife will have sex with me. I see. Very good. Thank you, Mr. Law, although I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. A, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi, thi. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. Thank you, Mr. Law, although I frankly question the necessity of writing 714 pages proving what we all already knew to be fact. Also with me is woman, an author of the book, Female Pleasure is still known to be false, and there's no need to check, Miss Valentine. First of all, congratulations for giving it a go.
Starting point is 00:01:44 What are some of the hurdles you encountered attempting to apply your feminine cognition to the masculine task of wordliness? Look, it's all just been very tough for me, you know, I'm very stupid. I'm very dumb and my brain doesn't work and I really appreciate you even deigning to speak to me, sir. Well, took a lot of convincing to get you on, and not sure if it will will will will will will come to come to come to come to come to come to come to to their to to to to to to their to to to to their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the the the the the the to speak to me, sir. Well, took a lot of convincing to get you on, and I'm not sure if it will come through. Finally, we have journalist for popular Gazette junkie and other respected mastheads. Charlatan, an author of the compiled series of lies, intercourse is fun and is not supposed to hurt. Mr. Jim Marlow, why have you chosen to make our Princess Elizabeth cry?
Starting point is 00:02:23 Well, I just thought, you know, like, if she was having fun, she better stop. Very good. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. And now to the news into stop doing that voice now. No, you have to do it for the rest of the episode.
Starting point is 00:02:50 You have decided on this. Absolutely not. You stuck with it for a long time. Yeah, that was good. I was weighing up doing a South African accent because you know it's quite funny, but I can only really say like, blick in certifuca. So I just decided that it was probably better not to. Yeah, there was a lot of kind of Rhodesia stuff there that I put in and took out.
Starting point is 00:03:11 So be happy. Oh, even the mention of it, it's basically flirting with disaster. My goodness. Speaking of the news, we've got Jim here to talk to us about some news today. News, have you heard about it? So, there's been some news going on particularly in relation to our relationship with China. And it started this entire thing. Okay. Started with something that we haven't really talked about on the show in any great level
Starting point is 00:03:47 of detail. On account of, it's not very funny. We like to talk about things that we find funny. This one, hmm, not that many laughs to be had out of, I guess, Australia's foray into international war crimes. You know, you know, we did talk at that one time about the, um, the Australian unit that decided to fly the swath sticker, for some reason. Kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I mean, boys being boys. Boys being boys. It's not surprised to me. Am I like to say the end word on the show, I am black. Yes. Maybe this can stop you? I don't think we can stop it. Okay, great. So I'm legally allowed. I have a card. I'm not surprised by the swastiker thing because I went to high school with this dude who like looks me dead in the eye. He used to call me blacky all the time. He looked me look look to look to look to look to look to th and I as like to look to to th and th th th th th th th th th th to th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi and I was like tho tho thi. I's like to thi. thi. tho tho tho tho tho to to to to to th. I was th. So I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. I the the the the the the the the theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the th eye as like, I want to join the army so I can go and shoot sand diggers. Oh, cool.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Hard to. Yeah. So I was not surprised by that. And did he? I mean, it's probably doing it. Yeah, I don't really keep in contact with him for some reason. He's living somebody's dream. Yeah, so a lot of cultural issues in the Australian military it seems. And this started with, or like our awareness of this started due to stories published in 2017 by the ABC called the Afghan Files. And then a whole bunch of raids happened in 2019. So this is from the ABC. AFP leave Ultimo building with files after hours
Starting point is 00:05:27 long raid over Afghan files stories. And just before you start that story, Andrew, I just got to take my shirt off real quick because it's fucking hot in Brisbane. So stay with me. And then we'll be back. It is an audio format, but it's important for you to say this. He's just letting us know I's stepping away from the microphone for a second. I am I it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's th th th th th th th th to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the the the the the the the the the thi. thoooooooo letting us know I stepping away from the microphone for a second. I am basically nude at this point, please continue. Okay. The stories by ABC investigative journalist Stan Oak and Sam Clark revealed allegations of unlawful killings and misconduct by Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan and were based off hundreds of pages of secret defense documents leaked to the ABC. Three AFP officers entered the ABC building around 1130 a.m. followed shortly afterwards by three police IT technicians.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Lay armed, you reckon? I don't think so. Maybe. Who knows? AFP officers served the ABC legal team with a warrant and searched for information related to the warrant. The AFP told the ABC they wanted to search through email systems in relation to the people the people the people the people the people the people the people tooom, the people the people the people the people the the to the the to the the the tooom, tooom, tooom, tooffic, tooffic, tooffic officers, toe, toe, the a the a toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, the ABC the ABC the ABC the ABC the ABC the ABC the ABC the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the, thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, a thee, a thee, aft.a, afte, afte, afts, aft, afts, a thee, a thee, a thee, team with a warrant and search for information related to the warrants. The AFP told the ABC they wanted to search through email systems in relation to the people mentioned in the search warrant and we're searching data holdings between April 2016 and July 2017. They searched radical drafts, graphics, digital notes, visuals, raw television footage and all versions of scripts related to the afghan file stories. Thousands of items are found which matched search termers toms tom tom the tha the thae, the tha, their their their their their their their search terms listed in the warrant. So they then attempted to have like Anacus, Smethurst and Dan Oaks, two of the journalists
Starting point is 00:06:51 involved charged with like breaking national security laws. And I think that went off to like the director of public prosecutions or whatever it is to see if there's enough case, enough evidence to make a case or anything. And then in May this year they dropped the case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case case... this year the this year the this year the thi this year thi. thi. this year this year thi. thi thi this year this year this year this year thi thi thi this year thus thus thus thus thus thi. thi. thi. th see if there's enough case, enough evidence to make a case or anything. And then in May this year they dropped the case against Smithers and in October this year they dropped the case against Oaks. Now I don't know if the reason that they dropped that case is because shortly after that, the Brereton report came out that said, yeah, that stuff in the Afghan files, Imagine it was much worse and also very true. Hmm. But it really did set up the tone, I think, of our approach to this, which is, knowing
Starting point is 00:07:30 is the problem. Yes. We don't like it that you know about this. Personally, I like to know nothing. Yeah. Well, we all try that at Blunkervista. So we do our best. We do our best. Famous for that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, th.ista, so you're among friends. We do our best. Mm-hmm. Famous for that, but now we have to read some things off of the page. So at the end of this, we will and our listeners will also know at least something, which is unfortunate. Some stuff. And none of it is pleasant. Yeah, yeah. Like you said, Theo, report coming out that I've seen quite a few, I guess, you know, career journalists in Australia, sort of suggests that like we are better than other countries because,
Starting point is 00:08:15 you know, we released this report and we're talking about it and we're going to do something about it. It's like, yeah, didn't we also try and like jail some journalists beforehand for kind of like half-heartedly trying to do the authoritarian thing? Like, ah, we probably should send some people to jail over this. Why not start with the journalists? I mean, like, obviously the lesson is never tweet, right? Because these people probably just like saw some like Chinese person like talking shit about us and they were like well we can't have that you know you'd like obviously much worse than us because you're Chinese when they just like didn't even think about the fucked up shit our government does in a daily basis really and we'll get into that hmm 100 percent so again from the
Starting point is 00:08:59 ABC Afghanistan war crimes reaul, released by Defense Chief Angus Campbell, includes evidence of 39 murders by Special Forces. So once again, this has all kind of been happening over previous weeks, and we hadn't really talked about it up to this point. The long-running probe found credible information that 25 current or former Australian Defense Force personnel were involved in the serious crimes, either carrying out the offenses or at least being accessories to the incidents. The report recommends a total of th th th th th th 30 th th 30 thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty-a thirty-a thirty-a-a-a. thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thirty-a. thi. thi. the. to, to, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi., either carrying out the offences or at least being accessories to the incidents. The report recommends a total of 36 incidents be referred to the Australian Federal Police for criminal investigation.
Starting point is 00:09:31 The heavily redacted findings of Major General Paul Berton's investigation, which took four and a half years to complete were released in camera on Thursday by Chief Angus Campbell. Yeah, so I think it's important to note that the reaction that we're having now, the reaction that we're having in the media and the damnation that's sort of going towards this is based on the redacted findings. One of them was just a page that was entirely redacted out, and then underneath was a comment, describing the above redacted section as possibly the
Starting point is 00:10:07 most disgraceful episode in Australia's military history. Just think about... So what do we think it is? Like, it's probably something like some fucked up. They're really selling that. This is like a my lie kind of incident, right? Like there is, I mean we will find out in time, perhaps, if they haven't already shredded at all, right? But the fact... We will get into what some of the war crimes that they've deigned appropriate to tell us about.
Starting point is 00:10:41 The lesser war crimes. The sort of jokey war crimes and then try and think of something worse than that. So here's some examples for you from the report and Major General Burton made a point of saying that none of these things could be described as things that happened in the heat of battle. Yeah so so all of the comments to be like, you know the pressure that they're under the bla bla bla b- and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, ttry, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, thi, thi, try these things could be described as things that happened in the heat of battle. Yeah, so all of the comments to be like, you know, the pressure that they're under, the blah blah, the fog of war. Fog of, is 100% not it. There's one was just like, all of these things happened, the thanks, all of these things, their things happened, to their, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and. their. their. the, and, and, and, and. the, and. the, and, and, and. the, and, and, and. And, and. And, and, and, and, and................. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and.. And, the. And, the. And, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. they. they. they. they. they. they. the. the. they. the. the. the, they. the, the, the, the, the, otes, the cases in which it has been found that there is credible information of a war crime are ones where it was or should have been plain that
Starting point is 00:11:28 the person killed was a non-combatant, he said. The inquiry said junior soldiers were often required by their patrol commanders to shoot prisoners to get their first kill in a practice known as blooding. Who boy. Like a gang, like a gang, if you will. Yeah. Kind of like a criminal gang. Real blood in, blood out kind of scenario. But wait, I thought we were over there to win hearts and minds.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Hearts and minds? Hearts and minds. Okay. Oh boy. I wonder if there's a tally of hearts and minds versus whatever this is. This is definitely the rough. Sorry Jim. No, when does this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this is this this this is this is this this is this is this is this this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this podcast is this is. Yeah, this is definitely the rough, sorry Jim. No, when does this podcast get funny? Yeah, absolutely, I was about to say, this is the rough part. Maybe not today.
Starting point is 00:12:11 We'll get to the posting later. Oh, it'll, it'll get to the phone. It may be funny if you hate Afghanis, probably. I would apparently, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, th. th. th. this. this. this. this. this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the. the. the. tho. tho. tho. the. tho. tho. the. the. thooo. do fall into that, please stop listening to the show. Please write in and then immediately redacted yourself. Mm-hmm. Commit a parody. Uh, the inquiry also found evidence that some Australian troops in Afghanistan carried throwdowns, such as weapons, radios and grenades not issued by the ADF, which would be planted next to the bodies of Afghan civilians to suggest there were a legitimate
Starting point is 00:12:47 target in any post-incident investigations. Ah, so the American police method. Mm-hmm. Just toss one in there. This practice probably originated for the less-agregious. Oh, so that's a less egregious thing where they weren't armed. Just a bit of dishonesty, sure. Call that a whoopsy in the armed forces. Oopsy, dips. But how is... So that's basically just like I saw a guy and I thought, hey maybe he's a combatant and I immediately killed him.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Again, the American police defense. There wasn't an example of that. The American guy who came out and was like, yeah, these Australians are too fucked up for me. Yeah. It was like, they, he like, they got out of a helicopter, they saw a guy who they thought might be a lookout and they just shot him. Yeah, it wanted to find that again, but I couldn't I couldn't search it, but that comment really stuck with me that the American forces believe the Australian forces to be basically too psychotic to work with. That's a lot to take in.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Yeah, really. I think one of the things that I've sort of taken from reading different stuff about this is that it's more, it seems to be more of a pronounced issue with like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, the, the, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is a, is a their, is a their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their,'s more it seems to be more of a pronounced issue with like the sort of specialist operators type guys the Navy SEALs and the SAS and whatever the whatever the British version of this is because there's been stuff coming out in the wake of this of like people saying Britain should not be on their high horse about this because they've been over there doing exactly this and I'm sure that there are a bunch the the the the the their their their their their their their their their a bunch their a bunch their a bunch their a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a their their their their their their their their their their. their their their. their. their. their their. their their. their their their their their their are a their are a their are a their are a their are a their are a their are a bunch. their are a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of a bunch of. I are a bunch of. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. th. I'm. I'm. th. their. their. I'm. their. I'm. I'm. I'm. their. I'm their on their high horse about this because they've been over there doing exactly this and I'm sure that there are a bunch of like you
Starting point is 00:14:30 know American special forces who've been doing exactly this kind of stuff as well but it sounds like people who are there doing not as specifically psychotic stuff like people who are over there to be like, helicopter pilots or whatever see the stuff that they're doing and go, oh, hey, that's not good. That's, well, there was the report. There was an American chopper pilot who, who reported going to pick up like an SAS unit and prisoners that they had. And they said, how many people do you have? And they said, well, there's us and six prisoners. And they said, no, no, that's one person too many.
Starting point is 00:15:07 We can't carry that many people. And they said, OK, and then came back on the radio a second later and said, now we have five prisoners. Ooh. Yeah. Do things like, well, I'll say this about working with the Australian guys. Any time that you went out with them, you saw action. Like there was never a time when you went out and nobody got shot.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Basically. So, you know, not great. I think, think we're all going to say. So, uh, so basically, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's that's that's that's that's that's thi. thi. thi, thi, thi's thi's thi's thi's things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things things, things, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's that's thi. that's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's saying thi. thi. thi's saying thi. thi's thi. thi. thi. I think we're all going to say. So, basically, that's all the awful shit that has come out in this report so far. The suggestion is very strongly that there is much worse to come. Oh, don't forget the slitting the children's throats. I think we got to that. Yeah, dumping the river. say that is worse than that? That's so great to know. Yeah, yeah, like 14 year olds. The suggestion within the report is that this none of this is about the treatment of enemy combatants. It is that basically, I mean the gist of it as far as I can see is that basically any time that the SAS were like doing a mission and moving through an area if they saw a person they would kill them and so like it would just be like a farmer standing in his field that they were walking through and
Starting point is 00:16:35 they'd go hey better kill that guy and so they killed a lot of farmers and women and children. Very, very fucked up. Yep. Yep. Yep. So, pretty much all we have to say about that. So now it's time to ask ourselves, how did the Australian media respond to this?
Starting point is 00:16:57 Probably normally. The notoriously thoughtful, an introspective Australian media. Very critical of our diggers, the Australian media, right? There, so there was a cover of the Daily Telegraph that made both me and Theo feel like we were having a stroke, which they chose to lead with a gigantic headline that said, Heroes in the Frame.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Now, correct me if I'm wrong. headline that said, heroes in the frame. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but number one, we're starting off with heroes. Strongly suggests that these guys are already heroes and their reputations are being besmatched. But also, doesn't in the frame kind of suggest that they are being falsely accused? I don't really know what it's supposed to... Jim, can you get a read on this? No, no, I sort of think of the Daily Telegraph and other Murdoch Mastheads and they're, like, front page headlines is like a different language. I don't really understand what it is they're trying to say most of the time and it's usually something racist or fucked up. So. So. And the the the thi up up up up thi. And it's thi. And it's thi. And it's th. And it's the thi. And it's thi. And it's thi. thi. thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi isn't thi isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't isn't thi. I isn't thi's isn't thi isn't thi isn't thi isn't thi isn't thi isn't thiiiiiiiiiiiiiii's isn't thi's isn't their thi. th something racist or fucked up. So I'm gonna say no I have no idea but I'm leaning towards they don't give a shit about the
Starting point is 00:18:12 Afghans. That's probably a reasonable default position to take. In the movie Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise. Oh fucking how. Well it's um so so they're based on a they're based on like a series of books that are very like, um, you know, pulpy kind of thing. And there's a scene in that where he's, he's been like stitched up for a murder and he says to a guy on the phone, uh, you were looking to put me in a frame. And as soon as I looked at this I was like heroes in the frame you're looking to put them in the frame you are framing.
Starting point is 00:18:49 You're telling me the headline readers, writers of the Daily Telegraph can read? They, well if they're reading anything they're reading a long series of like airport novels basically. But yeah like my first read of this was basically like, these guys are heroes and people are trying to frame them for crimes. Yeah, it's a stitch up. I also enjoy the fact that they've, that is about one quarter perhaps of the front page. Yep. Three quarters of the front page is a photo of Guy Sebastian. War Criminal. Yep. Three quarters of the front page is a photo of Guy Sebastian.
Starting point is 00:19:26 War criminal. And... Node war criminal. He might have brought Wuhan back from like the fucking... From the markets man. Who knows? Oh, I remember that. That was...
Starting point is 00:19:38 Yeah, where he's like, lots of exciting stuff coming up. Keep an eye out. So that was, um, just ate some crazy shit. Ooh. That was, that was from the cover and from the article itself. Diggers face having metal stripped. Like that's the problem. That's the big consequence of this.
Starting point is 00:19:59 Diggers face having metal stripped. Australian soldiers face potential criminal charges and having their metal stripped after a damning report into the actions of some special forces operatives in Afghanistan. I know I should be surprised, I mean I shouldn't be surprised, but it's honestly incredible, how much mental gymnastics it would have taken to turn something so objectively awful into like, well, maybe they didn't do it. Remember when a bunch of News Corp journalists got Laid off and Ben published that article that was like laid off News Corp journalists now free to take jobs as actual journalists and people got so fucking
Starting point is 00:20:39 fucking mad anyway. It's class solidarity. That's what it is. F crimes, Apologia, because this is what the media is. Well, and like you said, Lucy, that the, that the, that the reaction to this is just like, oh no, what if they had their like, murder Olympics participation trophies taken off them. Right. Even being presented with something just so disgusting, they can't be like, fuck, that's awful. Do you think they get them all in a big line and the Queen comes along and just takes the medal back off their head? I hope so. And down the bottom of this article it says the only person named as being under investigation by the Inspector General, Australia's most decorated living soldier, Ben Robert Smith,
Starting point is 00:21:27 issued a statement last night saying, quote, I welcome the announcement today by the Prime Minister. I'm not mad. Do not put it in the paper that I am mad. Yes. There was an article in the Herald Sun after this. Just, you're sitting down for this one, right, Jim.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Yep. If we want the truth from our military about how people were killed in Afghanistan, comma, we must also demand it from our political leaders about why people died in Victoria, Peter Credlin writes. Oh, fuck off. Are you kidding? Get fucked, shut up. The title, the title for that article is one rule for SAS, another for Dan Andrews. Oh, and there's a picture of Dan Andrews with a backdrop of like a soldier with a gun.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Afghans died? Oh, Afghanis died? Well, what about other people who died? Do you have to think about that, dickhead? These are very equivalent situations. There are- Fulchuncta. There are civilians who were taken prisoner and then executed as part of an initiation ritual by SAS soldiers, and then there's the real criminal, Dan Andrews. Yeah, he's a dictator. Chairman, Chairman Dan.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Jesus Christ. Lucky she wasn't like, you know, personal advisor to the Prime Minister for many, many years like fucking Wormtown. That'd be bad, eh? God. And now we get to the good stuff in my view. Why where he is the shore man? Now now things have accelerated and we have entered a new stage of cyber warfare. That's right. We're talking about posting.
Starting point is 00:23:20 We're talking about Chinese government officials and state media editors shit posting at Australia and making them very very mad. On Twitter we would refer to this as wading in and they have not just waited in. So do we put the disclaimer up front? Is this where the disclaimer goes? Yeah, what's the disclaimer goes? The disclaimer goes that we're clearly not endorsing the general actions of China? And that there is clearly a large bunch of stuff that we don't necessarily want to get into, that the Chinese government should be condemned for, but we also don't live there. So we're going to talk about, please don't yell at us.
Starting point is 00:24:15 We are going into this with the full understanding of that. This is about posts. We have to talk about the things that are funny. We have to talk about the things that are funny. And it we th also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also also the people the people the people the people the people the people tha tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thoes thoes thoes, thoes, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their their their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi.eeei.ei.eiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.ea, their, their, the stuff that's funny. We have to talk about the things that are funny. And it's also the people in Australia that are doing the terrible stuff are much closer for us to yell at. So don't get mad. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Almost like the people in Australia are the ones where like our own actions and how we vote and all that sort of thing might actually have some kind of impact on that. That's exactly right. So a post appeared from what is what is helpfully noted by Twitter as China government account from Lijan Zhao and he attached a picture to this which we'll get into in a second. And he said, shocked by murder of Afghan civilians and prisoners by Australian soldiers, we strongly condemn such acts and call for holding them accountable. And he attached to this an image. This image, Jim, do you want to have a go at describing the notorious Chinese meme that has simply rocked our nation?
Starting point is 00:25:24 Just a single image brought our nation to its knees. It's an Australian soldier holding a child with a knife through his throat. The child is also draped in an Australian flag and they're standing on a jigsaw puzzle of an Afghanistan, which is questionable. I'm not really sure what that's supposed to mean, but everything else is pretty like evident. Oh yeah, the child is also holding like a pure white baby lamb. Just in case the symbolism wasn't really there for you. Yeah. And there's a caption down the bottom to says, don't be afraid we are coming to bring you peace. The Australian soldier
Starting point is 00:26:02 or, you know, somebody who has had Australian military markings photoshopped onto them if we want to get specific. It's also like grinning demonically. Yeah I can't forget that. I was also trying to figure out what the symbolism of the of the puzzle piece Afghani flag was. Yeah, I wonder if it's sort of like it's a game maybe. Yeah, I'm not sure like it's a game to us or it's something that we, you know, we don't really have, I don't know, like I feel like there might be something there, but it's just something that I can't pass.
Starting point is 00:26:46 So this made a bunch of people very mad immediately who said, hey, hey, my feelings. Don't say that. So this is from an article on the ABC. Will China apologize for tweet attacking Australian soldiers? Experts say it's highly unlikely. What's an expert here? Like a Twitter expert? No, it wasn't actual kind of political expert, but I cut all that stuff out of the article because we already know what that's about.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Yeah. So it says here, the tweet by China's foreign ministry spokesman Jaoli Jan shows a doctored image reportedly originally created by a Chinese nationalist artist depicting a grinning Australian soldier holding a bloody knife to the throat of an Afghan child. The graphic post is an attempt to criticize Australia over the damning Britain war crimes inquiry into the conduct of Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan. Yeah, I'd say slam dunk. Before we get too far away from this though, like, did, like, we don't have, we don't
Starting point is 00:27:46 describe the people who make the cartoons in the Australian as like nationalist cartoonists. We should. Yeah, fuck we should. But like, it's just like, you know, obviously this is not something, if you're like, you know, eating from the trash can, right? But like, they probably didn't realize as they were writing that that, that, that, that, that, that, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, tho, tho, to, to, to, to, too, too, too, too, too, told, to me, to me, to, to, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to...A.A. If. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If, f. If. as they were writing that that they were positioning, you know, his nationalism is as different to ours, but anyway, so... Well, a hundred percent, and it's like, it's very similar to the fact that this man's account is marked as a China government account and the other ones, you know, you know, Chinese state-owned media, but the BBC isn't, or the ABC isn't, or, you know, so on and so forth.
Starting point is 00:28:27 It's exactly along the same lines. Well, even like, even all of the accounts that are like, you know, Australian MPs and Senators and the Prime Minister and stuff like that, all of their verified Twitter accounts for the Honorable, whoever the fuck, those aren't denoted as like Australian government account. Any of those things th th th th th th things things things things things things things things thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi- it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's th. It's th. It's thi. It's thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. It's exactly thi. It's exactly thi able Whoever the Fuck, those aren't denoted as like Australian government account, any of those things. For some reason, weirdly, China the guess that's one. Weird. Weird.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Weird. Weird. Yeah. China's Foreign Affairs Ministry addressed the tweet during a televised press conference on Monday defending Mr. Xia's actions. Quote, the huge reaction from the Australian side to my colleague's personal tweet suggests that it is reasonable for Australian soldiers to kill innocent Afghan civilians in cold blood but it's unreasonable for others to condemn the crime. Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said and hey.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Gotcha. Where's the law? Yeah. Fucking Al-Aupe. Just said, and hey, gotcha. Where's the line? Fucking Alley-Upe, just like, just a one-two punch and we're done. Yeah, they're just, they're lining up to dunk on this. It's, it's, yeah, it's insane. Like, I can't believe how, like, we just, how blithely, I'm just, I'm just, I don't know, I actually said what, I'm th............ And I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, th. th. th. th. th. It, th. th. It, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, is, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, th. th. th. Just, just, just, th. Just, th....................................................... th. th. th. th. the, is, is, is, just, like, like, the. the. I, like, like, like, like, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the, just, just, just, just we just completely fell for it. You know, like Scott's like, hey, what the fuck are you doing, mate? And then they're like, ah, like, you care more about the current war crime, the beam and the war crimes. Yep.
Starting point is 00:29:51 And I didn't get any tweets in there, but of course the Australian Labor Party tripping over their own dicks to do exactly the same thing as well....... Albanese, come out with this horse shit again, just falling for it, like person after person falling into a pit of spikes. Adam Bant did it too. Yeah, yeah, it's astonishing. But apparently this is the kind of pantomime that we need to be politically viable in this country as well. So, yeah, I think you can really see here just the first stages of how effective this
Starting point is 00:30:27 was at a diplomatic trap for the Australian government. Like just the initial tweet, they went and got the picture and put it out and said, war crimes are bad you guys and immediately started getting very strong reactions and then followed that up by saying here, wow, you guys are getting really mad about this picture, but you didn't seem that mad about the other stuff. We got fucking owned. Like that's it. Mm-hmm. They're this straight up to own us. Uh, Miss Hwa said the Australian government should bring the culprits of the alleged
Starting point is 00:31:00 war crimes to justice and offer an official apology to the Afghan people and make the solemn pledge that they will never repeat such crimes, which again, if you remove all geopolitical context from it, is technically a totally fine thing to say. Yeah, and it's ironic that unfortunately it has to come from somewhere like China for this to actually be taken seriously, and perhaps even on the international stage, instead of it just being something that we attempt to give as little oxygen to as possible, except for cries from the left, who you know, we don't really care about. So it takes some geopolitical kind of friction for us to be even really having this conversation, instead of it just being like a page 9 kind of report.
Starting point is 00:31:48 The image which is believed to have been created by a Chinese nationalist artist called Fou Yu who also goes by the nickname Quilin has been circulating on popular Chinese social media platform Weibo. Quilum reposted a screenshot of an ABC article referring to Mr. Morrison's demand for an apology and said in the caption, I heard Scomo had big problem with my work? Troll face. The artist also expressed his support for Mr. Jow's Twitter post in another post which said, quote, Mighty Director J Jow fucking slap him let's break their defense. They are they are just posting on a different level.
Starting point is 00:32:31 We are completely unarmed. Did you hear the dude I think it was a like a editorial in one of the newspapers and he was like Scott Morrison should like get on his knees and slap himself in the face. We're gonna get into that guy. Don't you worry. Don't you worry. Oh fuck. And as has been posted pointed out you know I was reading a piece in the Saturday paper last week that was talking about the deteriorating relations between Australia and China and you know it was saying how how is anybody this shocked by this given that Scott Morrison lets a lot of a lot of people in his party do whatever the fuck they like and you've got you George Christensen's out there comparing the Communist Party of China to the
Starting point is 00:33:21 Nazis you've got him saying that you know they they deliberately made coronavirus in a lab and unleashed it on the Communist Party of China to the Nazis. You've got him saying that, you know, they deliberately made coronavirus in a lab and unleashed it on the world. You've got, you've got Eric Arbett's in a Senate inquiry getting like Australians of Chinese descent up in front of the inquiry and demanding that they publicly front of the inquiry and demanding that they publicly denounce the Communist Party of China despite being born in Australia, despite like having multiple generations of their family live in Australia
Starting point is 00:34:05 before they were even born. And he's like publicly demanding in government inquiries fucking McCarthy style. Yeah, that they denounce some kind of, you know, imaginary allegiance to China. Yeah, McCarthy isn't, but somehow make it more cynephobic. Yeah. And yeah, you know, these are the people that we haven't seen your roles in Australian government at the moment. Other people constantly saying like, fuck you China., we got to take these guys to task, we got force apologies out of them and everything. And I guess the sort of note that the piece in the Saturday paper ended on was, how do they see this ending? How many times do you think in this relationship you get to say,
Starting point is 00:34:40 fuck you China? Before China, a country with like immeasurable, more, to toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, you China, before China, a country with like immeasurable more weight and swaying on the international stage than us says, you got it, fuck you. Yeah, it's an absolutely asymmetrical, like, set up here. We kind of, we're not going to get into the trade war side of things because that's, you know, a whole another hour and we're all, we don't understand trade clearly you having well you don't know what it is yeah but but but you know we've been kind of a little doing a bit of jostling in the background recently the Chinese government have placed a tariff on Australian wine imports which is potentially devastating for Australia, and a rounding error for the Chinese. And people in Australia,
Starting point is 00:35:32 like the dumbest, they're losing it. The dumbest most fucking barnacled on people in the media are like, we need to hit back in this trade war. And it's like, no we don't, no we don't, where is this going? What is your end state here? How do you see us doing anything more than just shitting our diapers impotently over this? With the understanding that you know maybe, hey, sometimes things are shitty but you've got to just suck it up because you're not going to win this fight. Straight up. Yep, it's all the thing I, I like, people don't talk about this enough, but like we, that's our largest trading partner. Our economy is so dependent on them.
Starting point is 00:36:13 And like the fact that we go around and do stuff that they, we know they hate all the time. Deliberately. It's just, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's, it's, it's, the, the, the, their. th. th. that's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's. the. that's. that's. that's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, the. the. the. the. the. the, the, the, the. th. th. that's like, that's like, the. th. that's like, that's like, the, the. the, the, the, th. that's like, that's like, that's like, that's, that like... The funniest thing to me about the trade stuff was how Scott Morrison flew over to Japan recently to announce that they were, I don't know, theoretically near the end of a deal on, like military cooperation between us and notorious, hated enemy of China, Japan. And China immediately went, what the fuck are you doing? You know, you know that we have lots of conflict with them, around the South China Sea, all the stuff.
Starting point is 00:36:55 And they got very mad about it. And Scott Morrison's attempt at like playing this, you know, playing this right down the middle diplomatically was to essentially say, I've seen a few variants of this of him saying in the media, like, hey, what these big trading partners have to understand is we have other trading partners too and we will, you know, address all of their needs individually. So and then you just need to be nice to us. It's like, that's, again, you know, we're not fucking international, trade or diplomacy experts here, but I don't think that's how it works. I don't think that
Starting point is 00:37:30 if you have a massive trade partner who fucking hates some other country and dealing with them, and you say to them, but what if I profited from both of you, and then you just let me do that? No one will notice. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th me do that. No one will notice. Yeah. Here's what I think you guys really aren't taking in an account is that we wish to continue profiting from our relationship with both of you and we don't want to change anything so maybe you could accommodate that. I think the thing we're doing is acting like America isn't like becoming more and more impotent by the day. It's sort of like you know we've got like the big brother in the back and he's going to like back us up but like like our big brother's been doing heroin for the past four years and barely stand up anymore like I just
Starting point is 00:38:18 you're a hundred percent right like I think there's a definite undercurrent in in this in China's ability to kind of come out on this stuff stuff. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi thi thi. It thi thi thi. It thi. It th. Yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi thi thi thi thi thin thi thi thin thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi in this, in China's ability to kind of come out on this stuff and kind of dunk on us because they know that necessary, like America's kind of, America's kind of taken some time, some personal time at the moment. They're kind of, they're doing some self-care. Well. Yeah, four more years of like stupid neoliberalism so what they get next time is even way more worse. It's like taking like punching cones to avoid your depression.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Hmm. It's a good analogy. It's certainly no one that any of us are familiar. No, absolutely not. I think that these, I think the suggestion also is that with Biden coming in as president that America is currently I think the suggestion also is that with Biden coming in as president that America is currently a lot more likely to pivot away from having any specific interest in Asia and they're much more looking to reestablish a lot of their ties with Europe. So- I actually, I have a theory as well. They're going to intervene in Africa again, that's just my little theory, but just as a little bit of fun.
Starting point is 00:39:25 For all times sake. Just a lot. Ethiopia specifically, but anyway. So then we get the reaction from Scott Morrison, which I think if you were one of the people who put together this post and everything, could not have been happy with how this way. 100% like if you put this went. No, 100%. Like, if you put this thing out there and you were like, hey, you know, we just got to,
Starting point is 00:39:49 we just got to take a swing at him on social media, see if we can ruffle some feathers. And then like 24 hours later, you have the Prime Minister of the country doing a live press conference in which he gets very mad and red-faced. You've got to cross his his his his his his his his his his his his his this this the their their their their their their their their their th. doing a live press conference in which he gets very mad and red-faced. You've got to cross his arms, make a little wiggly motion and... Just absolute slam dunk as far as their concern. So this is from the Guardian, Theo has noted here, non-turf edition. Just narrow it down.
Starting point is 00:40:21 The Prime Minister Scott Morrison has demanded the Chinese government apologize and take down a quote repugnant foreign ministry tweet that depicted an Australian soldier cutting the throat of a civilian in Afghanistan. As the outrage of the digitally altered image threatened to sink already tense relations between the two countries to a new low, Morrison said Monday that the Chinese government quote should be totally ashamed of this post, which he said diminished Beijing on the world stage. I don't think that it did.
Starting point is 00:40:48 I don't think that it really, really worried about that. It's not even, it's not graphic really. It's not, it's not, it's just like a picture and it's based on a fact. Yeah, absolutely, I mean it's very telling that there's no like material kind of denouncement of the of the act in the image. Well a lot of a lot of people seem to mainly only be able to express their outrage around the specific aspect that the image was doctored. Yeah, it was like I bet there's worse. The child also wasn't that young, you know, like the child the image looks like it's like he's like he he's he he's the he's the he's the he's the he's five he's like he's five the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. He's like, they. He's five, they. they. they. the image. they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's. It's worse than before. The child also wasn't that young, you know, like the child in the image looks like it's like he's five or something and the kids that they they slip the throats of were 14. Yeah, big, big difference.
Starting point is 00:41:32 And also as I saw pointed out online, they haven't thrown a gun on the ground as well. Next to the child. They haven't placed an AK-a AKkkkkk. In the back of the lamb. Instead of binoculars. So he said his government, which had been at odds with Beijing over a range of trade actions taken by China against Australian exports over the course of this year, was conveying its outrage directly to the Chinese ambassador to Australia and would also contact Twitter, mods. Good loss. They would also contact Twitter, mods. Good laugh.
Starting point is 00:42:05 They would also contact. I love this so much. They would contact Twitter to demand it, take down the post, quote, in the interest of decency. I've seen people's holes on Twitter. There is no. Yeah, like, I've seen so much furry art. Like, who can I speak to about compensation
Starting point is 00:42:22 by having seen that shit? Are we talk about getting compensation by having seen that shit? Oh, are we talking about ferry up? Because, um, wait, is this a pro-ferry podcast? Um, I think so. I think we've kind of come around. Sure. Um, one of the things that tickled be the bus. I have to go.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Was, um, beloved Australian Australian icon, uh, kind of, their to weird guy, Father Bob. It used to follow him, but he kind of started retweeting some very strange stuff. Not strange was him retweeting an image that was like, God, I wish I remember. It was two guys hugging or something like that, and it's like, you know, this is a beautiful image, but what he didn't realize was it was a gift. And if you play the gift, like one of the guys' dick,to end there at this fairy art as well began to enlarge and like ruptured out of its pants and he clearly didn't realize that it was just the thumbna thumb was this in response to the China tweet? I'm gonna try to find that.
Starting point is 00:43:28 All right, keep going. Oh boy. I guess the point being though, I'm not sure it's going to work to appeal to the decency of notoriously decent platform Twitter. Yeah, so decent. Also, can everyone please stop sending me that like furry art where it's like two planes having sex? I've seen it and I don't want that that to to to to to to to to that I don't to to to to to that I don't want want to that I don't want want to that to that to that to that to that to that to to to that to to to to find that that that that that to find that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that I I I I that that I that I that that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that that to find to find to find to find to find to find to find to find to find to find to find to find to to find to to find to to to to to to to to try try try try try try try try try try try try try try that to find that that that that that furry art where it's like two planes having sex? I've seen it and I don't want to see any more of it.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Twitter being the platform that of course, you know, had Donald Trump on there doing like lots of anti-China race baiting stuff and all sorts of flat out lies for four years straight until he was finally losing the election and then they were like, hey, we're decent. We're gonna flag this for decency. We're gonna keep it on there but flag it. I doubt Jack, like the like Rasputon looking and acting dude is like, you know, the fair is fair for China though, like he's probably just sitting there being like oh yeah

Anyway, check that out if it sounds good to you. Love you. Uh, prior to the release of the Burtain report earlier this month, Morrison called Afghanistan's President Ashrafghani and, quote, expressed his deepest sorrow over the misconduct by some Australian troops. Sorry. We saw we. Sorry. Sorry, your son got his throat slit and we dumped him in a river like a bag of cats.
Starting point is 00:45:52 We did a, we did a 15 year long fatal oopsie. Earlier Morrison told reporters in Canber, quote the Chinese government should be totally ashamed of this post. It is a false image. No shit. And a terrible slur on our great defense forces and the men and women who have served in that uniform for over 100 years. There are undoubtedly tensions that exist between China and Australia, but this is not how you deal with them. Do you think they're trying to deal with them? No. Now, well I mean he is trying to deal with them. He keeps
Starting point is 00:46:25 like calling China and they won't return his calls. He says, come on. This are again we got a stellar example of the diplomacy of Scott Morrison here. Morrison again called for a resumption of talks between Australian and Chinese government ministers which have been frozen since earlier this year after Beijing objected to Morrison Morrison's forthright calls for an independent global investigation into COVID-19 origins. Huh. Hmm, okay, important stuff there, the Wuhan virus. Following this through, um, said he came at the king, he missed.
Starting point is 00:46:59 He missed. Morrison indicated he had also sought talks with the Chinese president, Jijin thin. he said he hoped this, he hoped this the thi the the the the the the the government. He the government. He the government. He the government. He the government. He the government. He to to to to to to to to to the government. He the to the government, to their their to to to to to to to to to their, to to to to to their. to their. to have missed. I feel like he missed. Morrison indicated he had also sought talks with the Chinese president, Jijin-Ping. He said he hoped this rather awful event might, quote, lead to the type of reset where this dialogue can be restarted without condition that we can sit down and start talking sensibly. Nothing opens the Chinese government up to a nice conversation more than calling them awful and shameful and diminished on the world stage and everything.
Starting point is 00:47:30 They love that. Demanding everyone unfollow China. Yeah, they've got like a cancelling like Instagram story up on the defat website, getting a lot of DMs about China. Chinese foreign minister turning their avatar black. Now, now that like the bait has been taken, hook, line and sinker, Morrison has come out, got himself extremely mad about the doctored picture. At no point did he say during any of that,
Starting point is 00:48:06 yeah, we appear to have done a lot of really fucked up stuff and we're trying to deal with that and this isn't helping. Just completely ignoring that. Ignoring that. It's just like, hey. And also, we're not going to apologize for that on the world stage. We're not going to diminish ourselves on the world's takes. It's the mean. You guys should say sorry. This is where it really starts to take off. From Global Times editor, Hu Shijin. This is an editorial that he wrote in the Chinese state-owned newspaper, Global
Starting point is 00:48:38 Times. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Ja Li Jan on Monday posted a posted on Twitter, a cartoon circulating on Chinese social media platforms, condemning Australia's troops murder of 39 innocent Afghans. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was very angry about it, accused Jau of offending his country and demanded an apology from China. I was really shocked and disgusted. How could this Australian PM be so ridiculously arrogant
Starting point is 00:49:06 to pick on Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson's condemnation against the murder of innocent people? Is the murder fake news? Oh, damn. Shouldn't the illustrator have made the cartoon? Didn't the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson have the right to repost that cartoon to censure Australian troops murder of innocent Afghan civilians? I love it, they've immediately pivoted to, oh murder is good now?
Starting point is 00:49:37 You like murder? Oh God. It is so depressing to watch us just get reeled in. Like someone's just miming a fucking fishing rod motion at us from thousands of kilometers away. He continues to absolutely go in on Australia here. The Australian government's many moves have made Australia more and more like a rural urban continuum in Western civilization where rogues and outlaws run wild.
Starting point is 00:50:11 Dude, what the fuck? No one says shit that like mean in Australia, you know, like we're all just like, you know, like you guys are fucking me like, you know, you're diminished on the world stage and they're like, you guys were fucking their thick. You know like, you guys are fucking me, like, you know, you're diminished on the world stage and they're like, you're a fucking dumb redneck, dickhead. Your country's one big parking lot. You live in a fucking- Urban Continuum in Western civilization.
Starting point is 00:50:37 So good. So good. Whenever the leader of the West is up to something bad, it just needs to come to come to to to to this this to this this tha the to come the the to come to come the to come the, to come to come to come the, the, the, the, to come, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, tooomomomomome, tooomomomomome, tooomome, to, you, to, to, you, you, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, you're, their, you're, their, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, their, the is up to something bad, it just needs to come to this place and hire some hatchet men. Good Lord. Oh my God, I'm renouncing my Australian citizenship. No, man, it goes so hard. He continues, Afghanistan is so far away from Australia, geographically, but Australian soldiers have killed as many as 39 innocent people there. Morrison should kneel down on the ground, slap himself in the face, and count out to apologize to Afghans. All this should be done on a live telecast. I'll argue with that. Yeah, dude. I've watched the fuck out of that. That'd be like the most like watch pay-pevue ever. Like who the fuck is like, who's that like that, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. that, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. that. That'd be like the most like watch pay-pevue ever. Like who the fuck is like, who's that like, um, that dumb MMA dude?
Starting point is 00:51:27 Con McGra, like, yeah that's him. Like, get out of here, like it's gonna be fucking Scott Morrison slapping himself in the face. No matter what harsh words people use on them for the murder, the Australian government should have accepted it. How dare they talk back and say they are offended. The Morrison administration is the political hatchet man hired by the US akin to a mafia. Oh, fuck. There is no remedy. There is no remedy.
Starting point is 00:51:55 There is no remedy. It's just like a little bit too nice for us. We're like a little bit too dumb for that. We're more of a biky gang kind of thing. Yeah. Even. the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. their, th. th. their, their, their, their, thi, thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. We're more of a bikegang gang kind of thing. Yeah. Well, even bikie gangs like have hierarchies and are organized. Like we're just like a bunch of dumb fuckheads with like metal poles. Yeah, we're definitely the lead pipe guys. Yeah. There is no remedy in Western culture that could save them.
Starting point is 00:52:20 They should be sent to the temples in, Myanmar or China's Jushan, get their hair shaved and chant scriptures and be taught not to kill people first things first. Fucking hell. This guy's bringing the fire. Oh, they should recite the anelects and be taught that one should not impose on others what he himself does not desire. Such an education of Eastern civilization is expected to hear their evil minds and murderous mentality.. And an and th th and th th th th th th th th th th th th th and be th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the and be the the the the the the the the to be to be to be to be to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the to tou tou tou tou tou tou tou tou tou totu tou totu tou tote tou to to tou to to to to education of Eastern civilization is expected to hear their evil minds and murderous mentality. Australian troops and fleet should leave Asia in the coastal waters of the Asian continent. More precisely, they should run as far as they can. The Morrison administration is making Australia provocative and wanting a spanking. Oh, oh, okay. Daddy, Daddy G.
Starting point is 00:53:10 Took a turn I wasn't expecting? Okay. And um, and look, wow. Wow. Wow. Like, fair enough. Do you think Peter Van Onsulin can write anything that like fucking cutting? Absolutely not. Oh, God. Well, even like, you know, Andrew Bolt's that, um, that's a that. thrown. that tho. the tho. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. tho. Okay. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. Okay. tho. tho. Okay. tho. tho. tho. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Oh, tod. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Oh. Oh. the today. today. Oh. the the then can write anything that like fucking cutting? Absolutely not. Oh God. Well even like, you know, Andrew Bolt's stuff is full of harsh shit for other countries and other races and everything, but it's just dumb. It's just him like rewriting Lauren Southern replacement theory posts. Like none of it's actually got... Like what kills me with this article is just all the parts where it's like, you just follow the US around and do whatever. And it's very hard as an Australian not to read that and go, yeah. Yeah, it's embarrassing. It's true. I mean, the big thing with this is I don't know how many people would have even
Starting point is 00:54:01 known that we were still in Afghanistan because it's fucking ridiculous you know? It's been going for so... Yeah, all worse, just accepted that we're always in Afghanistan. We're just always there, we just live there now. Well I was reading this whole thing as well, a statement from Morrison where he was saying basically, oh, um, look, there's been some misunderstandings and some misinterpretations of some of the things that we've done as, you know, people have been misunderstanding things and they think that we will just side with the US in every matter over everything. It's like, yeah, that's because you fucking do. I did actually see one example where we didn't do that and that was when Maurice Payne was in the US recently and like Mike Pompeo their Secretary of State I
Starting point is 00:54:51 think that was like he said something like yeah China's like you know creating this fucking virus and she like declined to like be like yeah we think China made the virus and that was used as an example in an AFR piece of like how we don't always agree with the US. So brave. Yeah we are good on you Maurice for being quiet. Yeah so brave. So the the posting has continued with... This is the good shit. One of the best tweets of 2020, I think so. All right, so. Senator Marsha Blackburn, US Senator Marsha Blackburn has tweeted, China has a 5,000 year history of cheating and stealing.
Starting point is 00:55:38 Some things will never change. Dot, dot. This has earned her a reply from, marked as China State Affiliated Media accounts Chen Weihua and he writes, bitch. That is the entirety of the post. He did follow up though he went back for another taste. That is the entirety of the post. He did follow up though he went back for another taste. Went back for a 1230 a.m. It's going back for more bitch. It's so fun. It's like he's walked out of the pub and he's got fucking hang on just another thing.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Oh haven't we all like he who was without sin you know like? Yeah. He's he's come back 1230 a.m. going back for more anti-US imperialism. Uh, and he has put another reply on her same tweet saying, this is the most racist and ignorant US senator I have seen, full stop. A lifetime bitch. Lifetime bitch. It sounds like his mom like told him to get off the Xbox. Mom you are a lifetime bitch. God it's so, they dig so deep and easily and the funny thing like the original tweet she you don't like she just made it super racist for no good reason.
Starting point is 00:57:06 You can just point to any of China's current and ongoing actual atrocities, but you just choose to make it racist and leave yourself well, like wide and truly open to be just dumped on. It's, why do we line up for this? Why do we let this happen? It's, like, let's not forget, as well, like America was literally stolen as well. Like it's like it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.c.a, the let this happen? It's... Like let's not forget as well, like America was literally stolen as well. Like it's like the fucking manifest destiny, the genocide, like he indigenous people there. Like, and they fucking sloa-fooly as well. Yeah, it did. Little thie grubby, little mitts on like half the fucking continent. That's right. No one has any business throwing any stones whatsoever, but if you are going to fucking post, at least make it as powerful as that, God damn. You just call it the Shia bitch.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Well, and you raise a point here, Theo, which is, so part of the response in Australian media, here is a front page on the Daily Telegraph. So they have a, you know, their wonderful graphical style. They have an iPhone on the cover that has the tweet with the photo saying, you know, we're shocked by this murder, you should be held to account. They have put that on the front page in the corner, and then the entire front page is a massive blown up photo of the iconic man with a briefcase standing in front of all the tanks in Tiananmen Square.
Starting point is 00:58:33 And they have put a thing on there that says, shocked by the murder of Chinese civilians and students by Chinese soldiers. We strongly condemn such acts and call for holding them accountable. P.S. this photo is real. And then the headline, Copp-It-Tweet. Which again, bizarre. It's like Jim said, it's in another language. What the fucking Cop-Tweet supposed to mean? Well, it's just supposed to mean Copp it's sweet. But with tweat. Just we need a moratorium on fucking puns and headlines.
Starting point is 00:59:05 I'm so sick of that shit. Just try like a literation or something else, just literally anything else. But this is the perfect example of what I've seen all over Twitter in the wake of this, which is for anybody like myself who has said on Twitter, well, A, it's very funny. And B, they've kind of, they have a point, you know. The response from like, white people in Australia has basically been, got any thoughts about Tiananmen Square? Checkmate. That's like, that's fucking Reddit, like, fucking China policy.
Starting point is 00:59:42 Like, that's what people on fucking Reddit do. Whenever they start talking about Tick Tock or something, they're like, well, we're just they're just just just just just just thi they're just just just just they're just just thi, we're just just just thi, we're just thi, we're just thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, th. That's, that's, that's like, like, like do. Whenever they start talking about TikTok or something, they're like, well, we're just gonna post photos of Xi looking like a, like, what's his name, the Winnie the Pooh? Like, you know, like, that's their fucking, that's all they have. And they're like, well, what about Tiananmen Square? And they're post post post post post post post post post post post post post post post post post, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the. the. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th., the., the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Tiananmen Square all the way to the top. So like, they're not like to calling like fucking senators bitches like the Chinese
Starting point is 01:00:08 state media are. They're just like doing the Reddit like, oh, upboats to the top, you know, like it's fucking lame shit. I hate it. And also I think there's another point here in that we don't seem willing to actually raise any new the new to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise the to raise to raise the to raise the to raise the the to actually raise any of the new kind of Chinese atrocities. We have to kind of just go and re-litigate the old ones because I think diplomatically. No no, Peter Van Oselen and I'm Phil Corey did. They both they both like, yeah they were like, oh actually maybe not Phil I'm not sure, but like they were both like, what about all your atrocities? I'm like, what what about all your atrocities? I'm like, what the the the the the th. What about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what about, what about, what about, what about, what, what about, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what about, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, their? their? What about, their? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Shut up. It is, however, the classic thing of like, well, you can't say anything about this unless
Starting point is 01:00:50 you also make a statement about Uyghurs. It's like, number one, very stupid, and I'm not across absolutely every issue in the world enough, but I can't say that these tweets are very funny. Yeah. But, you know, it does come across that thing of enough, but I can't say that these tweets are very funny. But it, you know, it does come across that thing of like, it's ridiculous. As an Australian, you shouldn't not have to make statements about like every negative act committed by another country before you're allowed to say, I think it's bad when my own country does war crimes. 100%. That's the thing to me. That's they haven't seemed to have said at all, in any th th th th th th th th th th th. th th th th th. th th th th th th th th th th th as th as th as thi. thi. thi. thi, as thi, as thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, as thi, as thi, as thi, as thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. It th as th as th as th as the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi, as thi, as thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. It's th crimes. That's the thing to me. I haven't seemed to have said at all in any of this.
Starting point is 01:01:29 Yeah, you shouldn't have to be like, fucking condemning what other countries do. And the thing that is very funny to me about this specifically is that this is very clearly the response from people who just like, don't look at the news or have any concept of anything that's happened in the last 20 years? Because Tiananmen Square was in 1989. It's really a long time ago. That is, that is, for like a whole bunch of daily telegraph readers.
Starting point is 01:01:57 That is the most current reference in their mind for bad thing China did. China bad. Remember when you were a kid? Remember when you were at university? Remember when I wasn't alive? Your wife still loved you? Of course there's other sources of Australian media we need to check in on. This is from speaking of wife guys. This is from Seaford Oval on Twitter. Mark Plummer has posted to the Facebook group, Perth have a winge 18 plus unrestricted. Oh, fuck. It's so funny. Holy shit. If you wanted to show an alien, Australian culture. I cannot think of a better place to go than the Perth have a winch 18 plus unrestricted Facebook.
Starting point is 01:02:43 I'm in fucking Bunderberg forum uncensored. It's the Perth have a winch 18 plus unrestricted Facebook. I'm in fucking Bunderberg forum uncensored. It's the funny shit. Like constantly trying to sell weed and like you know like every time someone like tries to sell weed they're like, I'm gonna call the police and then they get extremely mad. It's hilarious. Sorry anyway. So Mark Plummer is posted. And again, he's posting this like someone in someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someone like someone like someone like someone like someone like someone like someone like this like this like someone in China is listening. Like there's a lot of members of the Chinese Communist Party in the Perth Have a Winge, 18 plus unrestricted Facebook.
Starting point is 01:03:14 There's sort of a hushed tones, a whole bunch of like Chinese agents in front of computers. One of them goes, fuck. We've lost the Perth H a win JT plus unrestricted group. So Mark, Mark Plummer posts, China, you want us to apologize and make reparation to Afghan, no H, families on behalf of, on behalf of rough soldiers war crimes. Rough soldiers war crimes. Yeah, what? Rough soldiers war crimes. Take that as you will, whether it is that the soldiers themselves are a bit rough or the war crimes were. Fair enough, but we're already doing that. Are we?
Starting point is 01:03:56 No, question the one. Now, I missed that, I think. Yeah, got a good to get a fact check on it. Yeah, there was a, I think one of the recommendations of that report was that we should just immediately seek to like pay reparations to the families of all the people that the SIS murdered, without waiting for the outcome of like criminal trials and all that sort of stuff. It hasn't actually happened. Now you apologize and make reparation for your state-sactioned murder of 3,000 students at Tinan Men Square.
Starting point is 01:04:32 I haven't heard one word of apology regarding Posid 19. 130... Oh, oh, geez. No, no, it was... Well, it's 130, comma, and then four zeros. Mm-hmm. Yep. I don't even know how to make that a number. Um, oh is that 1.3 million, I guess. I believe it's 1.3 million.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Sure. 130,000 people dead. Billions of people in financial ruin, and you, instead of apologizing, see fit to attack the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toa toa toa toa toa toe and their their 30 toa toa thirty 30 thirty 30 thirty 30, and thirty 30, and thirty 30, and thirty 30, and thirty 30, and thirty and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the, the, the, theycome, the, the, the, thirty toe, thirty thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty-ceaughtea, thirty-coea, thirty-coeaughtea, thirty-coeaught and thirty thirty, thirty, thirty, th dead, billions of people in financial ruin and you instead of apologizing see fit to attack us and others. You really are a package. Look, I don't want to be a classist or anything, but like, you know, like the sheer amount of poor spelling in that is incredible. Like I don't think you'd be able to get the cap off a bottle of bleach.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Even COS at 19, you couldn't even get COVID right. So there is a reply to Mark that says, from Nick Iolamo that says, aren't you the guy who drove a truck with his tipper stood up into the GE Bridge? Fuck mate, you got some balls bitching on social media. Oh, fuck. I love that so much, eh? Oh my God, I just can't get over it. And we have confirmation here with an article, says, Mark Plummer 55 crashed his truck into a six-meter highway overpass in Perth. There is footage from the, from like the security camera on the highway of the
Starting point is 01:06:01 truck driving along with its tip all the way up. The crash sheared the trailer and tray off and caused it kilometers long traffic jam. Oh dude, I shouldn't have gone so early with my bleach thing. That's way dumber. It's so good. Oh, it's beautiful stuff. And we love to see it. Oh, we sure do. Oh, thank you Australia for your reasonable responses to see it. Oh we sure do. Oh thank you Australia for your reasonable responses to everything. And I guess before we get out here to wrap up we needed to check in on war crime real estate. So Jim you used to write for domain right? Yes I did yeah for my sins. Well so you will be familiar with right? Yes, I did, yeah, for my sins. Well, so you will be familiar with the real estate.com.oway of life. That's kind of like evil domain. Yeah, actually, like,
Starting point is 01:06:54 like, you know, more evil than you can be of like someone profiting off the real estate market. Like, yeah, that's the, yeah, the more evil version of us yes so this is from the courier mail by way of real estate dot com that are you embattled war hero Ben Robert Smith puts Queensland estate up for sale how much work is the word in battle yeah yeah I think we can move into beleaguered like yeah hundred percent it's like reported on like a football player that's torn his ACL and he might have torn his ACL when he allegedly kicked that Afghani prisoner off the cliff.
Starting point is 01:07:29 I don't know. No way I'm knowing. Don't sue me, Ben Robert Smith. I have. Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly. Oh my God, the spy tax him off the cliff.
Starting point is 01:07:42 I just put it together. Allegedly I like liked th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thated. thoed. thattoded. that, thoed. thoed. thoed. thoed. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thededed. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's like, that. the. theeeeeeeea. to. to. to. thea. to. thea. thea. thea. the. just put together. Allegedly kicking him off the clip. And I also like I loved this article because for me it is the absolute purest encapsulation of the way that Australia media chooses to choose their stories on what they're going to write about and how they're going to frame it. Because just just read the first sentence of this article because it is to me just a... It's an exercise in whiplash, in tonal whiplash. Yeah, and I'm going to help illustrate that with the power of my voice, considering that this is an audio format. Embattled war hero, Ben Robert Smith, has put his stunning Queensland Hinterland Estate on
Starting point is 01:08:27 the market as he fights war crime allegations. Holy fuck. Imagine writing that and not immediately redacted yourself. Like, just immediately. I've got to take a second pass. I can offer some, I'll give you some'll give you some insight to how these things happen. Please.
Starting point is 01:08:47 Okay. Well, how would you, how would you potentially rewrite this? Jim? Look, I probably wouldn't say the alleged war criminal's house is stunning. I mean, that was, it's probably what I would, that would be my first thing. Also if I'm someone asked me to write this, I'd probably laugh in their face until they went away. How do you think this was pitched? It was 100% they would have just been like, they would have found out that his house was up for sale. Like, they want to write the story because it's going to do numbers. And then to be able to write the story, they have to get the real estate agent on side.
Starting point is 01:09:25 Or, you know what, you don't really have to. You can definitely do it if it's all public knowledge. You can get the records of who owns the house and everything. So essentially, they probably were like, okay, we want to have a quote from Ben Robert Smith and his wife, and we also want to have a quote from the real estate agent, so we can't be too mean. So what they would have done there is they would have been like, okay, look, we won't talk about the kicking the Afghani guy off the cliff, but we will talk about how nice your house is, so you'll be in the story, is that okay? And then Ben Robert Smith presumably, like, it would be like, th....... th. We's, th. th. th. We's, th. th. th. th. We's, th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. We'll thi. We'll thi. We'll thi. thi. We won't, thi. th. th. th. We won't th. We won't th. We won't, they w they would they would they would they would they would they would they would they would they would they would they would, they would, they would, they would, they would, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll th. they're th. th. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. tho. thoo. thoo. the. tho. the. the. the. they would they would they would they would I guess it's all right. And then like the real stage and then was like, okay, cool, this will get you lots of exposure,
Starting point is 01:10:08 lots of people look at your house, they might buy it. So yeah, that's pretty much how that goes and that's why they're in there. But I mean, if I would have not to laugh in my really lovely editor's face, thi, I would never that, that, that, probably would be like I'm not going to use any quotes from an alleged war criminal or their real estate agent. That's pretty much it. You can just about write that story without that and it would still do the numbers and
Starting point is 01:10:37 it still would go just as well. In Battle Trucker Ivan Millett. So I personally I wouldn't be more likely to buy a war criminals house. I feel like this is this is bad for the market. But I'm no real estate agent. I reckon like look this is Queensland we're talking about like there's gonna be some like a bunch of like dickheads like who like who you know like war crime apologists like they're like you know oh but they're the only thing that goes through their head like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. like. like. their. their. their. their. I. I. I. I. We. We. We. We. We. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. but our diggers and like that's the only thing that goes through their head like 24-7 so they'll be like oh buy your house Ben I'll help you take up your ill-advised defamation
Starting point is 01:11:12 lawsuit no worries and like that'll be it like I don't doubt it will probably help I just have well that's what billionaire Kerry Stokes is already doing yeah isn't what he sounds like? He probably. Yeah, nice. Oh, don't even worry about it, Ben, oh Benno, don't even, hey, I'll sort it out, get him a big checkbook out. I still write checks for some reason. Very old, very fucking old. This guy is fronting up the money. So, so get this. He is both the, what is he, the chairman of the board of the Australian War Memorial. Yes, and he is also personally funding the defense, he has also said I will personally fund the defense of all of the soldiers accused of these war crimes. And he's
Starting point is 01:12:00 Kerry Stokes is Channel 7, right? Yeah, yeah. So he also gave Ben Robert Smith a job. Ben Robert Smith was a general manager of 7 Queensland, where I used to work as well. So he was also like kind of my boss at one stage. Yeah, so he was also like directly employed him at one stage. And like, you know, he just like swaned in to be the general manager of a television. You know what, actually, now that I think about a Channel 7, alleged war criminal, it makes a lot of sense. Well, well, he also, it's my understanding that Ben Robert Smith has given Kerry Stokes like his Victoria Cross and a bunch of his medals and stuff as collateral for the personal loan that he's given him to fund his defamation case. And then he's like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thin, the, thin, the, thin, the, to to to thin, to to to they, to they, thin, thin, thi, the, the, the, the, the personal loan that he's given him to fund his defamation case.
Starting point is 01:12:46 And then he's like, yeah, and then if he loses or he can't pay or whatever, just some more sweet medals for my collection, because apparently I'm a big military buff fucking freak. The system works. Yep. The Victoria Cross recipient bought the five-bedroom two-story home in Ilkley in the Sunshine Coast Interland for 1.45 million in 2015. But the sprawling property is set to fetch more than that when it goes to auction next month. And just as a reminder, Fairfax's series of reports details six unlawful killings alleged to have been carried out by Robert Smith. The Robert Smith fell in love with the Sunshion Coast to pursue a work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work work a work work work a work work a work a work a work work a work a work a work a work work a work work a work a work a work a work a work work a work a work work a work a work work a work a work a work work work work a work to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, their to, their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the thooooo moved to the Sunshine Coast to pursue a work opportunity five years ago.
Starting point is 01:13:27 Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. That's the one when he joined Channel 7. Quote, it's a magnificent area and a beautiful home, the couple said. And then they, and then they took a big sip of coffee and said, unfortunately, due to changes in our employment, lifestyle and our children's school, the time is right for us to move back to Brisbane and sell. So Jim, could you perhaps take a guess as to what a potential change in their lifestyle might look like? Hmm. Um, I don't know. Could it be, could it be, uh, that suddenly it was revealed that there were credible accusations against you about war crimes you made?
Starting point is 01:14:07 I think it might be war crimes. Hmm. I think the lifestyle change is going to be that it's easier to get the kids to school on a bus when their dad is in prison. The family extended the house in 2015 and built an outdoor area featuring an infinity pool and pool house for the barbecue kitchen and dining setting. to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their war. the war. the war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. their. their. their. their. their. their. thi. thi. thi. thi. Starting point is 01:14:30 It's profitable, apparently. Uh, Sunshine Coast Hintland properties have been in strong demand with buyers seeking a tree change since COVID-19. The listing of Mr. Robert Smith's home comes just days after the release of a damning-of-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-s, to-s, to-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-n, I, I, I, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, I th-n, I th-n, I th-n, I th-n, I th-n, I th, I th-n. The listing of Mr. Robert Smith's home comes just days after the release of a damning inquiry into the behavior of elite Australian troops in the Middle East. How straight on the market huh? Just slide that in. Can I just say that I was surprised that they even managed to get that in? Like I reckon BRS would be like on the phone being like, hey what the hell? What you said you you wouldn't mention that shit? Or or like like like like like like like like like like like like like like? the the the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. What you said you wouldn't mention that shit?
Starting point is 01:15:05 Or like Kerry Stokes himself, maybe, I don't know. Like that honestly surprised me. I thought it would be way more of a love-up, like love-fest. Oh, bloody, come down to your office and figuratively kick you off a clip. I will allegedly kick you off a clip. And then they just wrap this up, put a little button on it. Mr. Robert Smith has denied any wrongdoing during his time in Afghanistan or Iraq. It really didn't seem like it was that salient to the sale of the property, did it?
Starting point is 01:15:38 I also love to give an alleged war criminal the last word in my article about his real estate as well. And his alleged war crimes. So you know, we're gonna we're gonna wrap this one up by saying allegedly, allegedly, allegedly, several more times just to cover all of the stuff that we talked about. No defamation lawsuits for us. You know, please God. thing is crossed. I don't pray, but maybe I will today.
Starting point is 01:16:07 So Jim, thank you for joining us. If people want to either hear more of you or send defamation proceedings your way, where... Please don't do the second thing. I don't have a billionaire boss who will back me. That's right. You can find me at the Jim Malo, and you spell Malo, M-A-L-O, on Twitter. I also host a radio show that's on every Monday for the next four weeks. So it's on at 12 on Triple R, which you can listen to online. And I write things for Junkie, so you can find my words there. They're usually pretty good. What's the radio show called?
Starting point is 01:16:49 Oh, didn't I say that? Shit. It's called Vocal Minority. There you go. Thanks, Jim. No, it's fun having to do my best. Yeah, it's been good. Yeah, maybe we'll we we next week instead of having to front load all the war crimes.
Starting point is 01:17:10 Yeah, I'm glad we do that at the start because the ship posting is quite funny. Yeah, you gotta eat your vegetables. You gotta have a laugh. Yeah. That's the lesson. If you don't laugh, you'll cry. Yeah, it's just like that always says. Oh boy.
Starting point is 01:17:28 Well, that's my signing off and we will catch everybody later. Bye-bye. Bye. Bye. Hey. you
