Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome. You're still looking at the screen, don't tell you can pull it up. I can be bad about that man. Hello and welcome, on to Vista, episode 252. I am Ben, and I am here in an intro from the bit of the podcast where we started sporadically doing this style of intro. With me, riding a bicycle in a park or performing in a circus or some shit, it's Lucy. Hi, Ben. Hi, hi. Wow, wee. You're on a bike. I'm on a bike. Oh, it's a lovely day. How silly. What a silly scenario this is. Pretty cool. It was also like, you know, I want to pull back the curtain here, but I don't know why Andrew started doing them.
Starting point is 00:01:08 But also I don't know why he started doing them only sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. I wasn't sure if it was going to work. And I've not introduced you yet. You know what, let me take this time to introduce you. Also with me, just dripping with horse cum. Well, sorry, I've just, and I, and I, and I to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to told, told, to to to to to to to told, I to told, I'm told, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I threw, I just, I threw, I th under th under th under th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I don't, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm the under, the und. I'm thean, thean, thean, tho. I'm just, tho. I don't tho. I don't know, tho. I don't thoan, thoanan. I don't, throanan... Sorry, I've just, and I hate to pull back the curtain again, but the Apple Notes app has done an auto-correct on me here and it's done me dirty, but I'm going to read what it's auto-corrected to it to.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Where was I was, a horse-com I think. Also with me, just dripping with horse cum while rakeishly twirking inside the horsecom factory for racists, it's Theo. Hi Theo. It's the gig economy, you've got to have multiple jobs all the time now. Yeah, yeah. Rakeishly. Rakeishly. I don't even know how you would rakeishly twirk. That was made to be raciously. Give me a little disservice there. I like actually actually. I I I th. I th. I thishly. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I don't th. I don't th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. I don't thishly. I don't the. I don't th. I don't thishly. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I don't the. I don It gave me a little disservice there. I like rakeishly. Yeah, it's nice. I actually I'm just kind of picturing the guy from Rake, a TV show I've never watched. No. It's about a rude lawyer.
Starting point is 00:02:14 It's, it's, um, it's an Australian TV show, so it's not good. You know how nobody can act and the writing's bad and every Australian TV show on it. And the subject matter is not interesting? Yeah. And it costs all of our arts funding. Yeah, it's just worse, isn't it? Yeah. It is just bad. It isn't good. We've kind of made that decision as a country that we will fund some of the arts, but only the bad stuff. Yeah. Like this podcast. We, no, we don't, it is bad, we just don't get funded by any of the arts bodies. Do you reckon we could get grants? Like, maybe. Oh, we got one, actually. Well, I got one as the producer of the podcast. During, at the very start of COVID, there was this sort of, it was an arts grant for people whose main income is derived from the arts, making their own works. It was just a thousand dollars and they didn't really, I was like, I'd make a podcast, here's
Starting point is 00:03:18 a link to the podcast. I got a grant. And they gave you a th- And that's money, baby. That's money in the bank. Yeah, I think I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi I thi I thi I thi I thi I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I that. I that. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I that that that that that that that that that that that that that. I'm that that that. I'm that that that that that that. I that that that that that that you a th- and that's money baby. That's money in the bank. Yeah, and I think I spent that on Covering the fact that I lost nearly all of my income during the first year of COVID Because of the novel coronavirus is what happened because of COVID So check that out if you're eligible for grants apply for them. They just give you some money, which is pretty cool. Yeah, and if you know of any grants that are four podcasts. if you th you thets thets thia thia thia thia thia thia th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi they they they they they they they they they're they're they're th. they're th. th. th. th. thi they're th. th. th th. that that that that that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. I thi thi they're thi they're they're thi the the they're the the the that that the that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th and they just give you some money which is pretty cool. And if you know of any grants that are four podcasts in Australia, if you know any grants that listen to this podcast, yeah, hello.
Starting point is 00:03:53 If your uncle is Scream Queensland, podcast Queensland, hit us up. Do you think we could get the MacArthur Genius grant, like as a package? Like if we combine our four IQs. Our four brains. Yeah, and it's somewhere around 450. Well, I think we have one mentor on the podcast, I think, is more. What do we do? Yeah, it would surprise you to know who it is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:17 So, that's right. It's the woman. So I, I kind of have been going through this process with Lucy of just initially where I assumed that everything about you was lie. And then it just turns out that everything's just true. Uh, your surname, real. Real? Uh-huh. Your IBS.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Real. Very real. Real. Also real. Yeah, expired? You have to pay to be a member, like a yearly membership. You get dumber as you get older, so... They're not checking that like a coconut might have fallen on your head. No, they're not checking your IQ. Yeah, right, okay.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Why did they check your IQ? What's the... Tell us about the entrance? They're like a really serious, like, IQ test. It it it it it it, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, like, th. Like, like, th. Like, like, like, th. Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like a really serious like IQ test. It's like a four-hour like sit-down test with like like people watching it and whatever. Fuck, that sounds fun. Extremely full. It's so silly. Can we actually get into men's it. How much does it cost? Not heaps, but it's like you don't really get anything apart from you get to go to meetings
Starting point is 00:05:19 with the worst people you're ever man. And you're there. And I'm there. Yeah, and you're normal and everyone else. Nasty, unlikable freaks. Yeah, that's right. That's so weird that I would be. Because I thought it would be, like, it's a funny thing to say, I'm in Mincer.
Starting point is 00:05:36 You ironically joined Mensa. It's a funny joke. It's very funny that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that that that that that that that that that thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi thi thii thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi.'s very funny that you could just win any argument on Twitter or whatever with the like, oh I'm in, I'm in Mensa. With a blurry photo of an expired Mensa membership card. Would an idiot have one of these? Check mate, the Marvel movies are bad. Signing up for Mensa, that seems like it might almost be a scam. It's time for scam watch.
Starting point is 00:06:08 So, um, in the course of trying to find the correct scam watch theme to use just then. Yeah, which is, okay, I'm glad we've... Yes. Which Andrew believes that tension, because I wasn't...the canonical one is not having one yeah which is just the generic stinger I found a scam watch theme that I have never heard before oh should we give it a go that was in our Google Drive no it be too hard for me to find it again and play has Andrew got secret stuff in there that we don't know about yeah there there are a secret themes in there that we don't know about? Yeah, there are secret themes in there. Oh, a bunch of secret themes in there like the Ben's
Starting point is 00:06:48 funeral because Ben died three weeks ago in a mysterious accident thing. Yeah, which is actually a Bob. It's a shame I'm not going to be able to hear that one get played. This is an excerpt from a press release from the Australian Consumer Advocacy Group Choice. This is covering a phenomenon that we've covered before. And I think we've also covered it in Australia before, but this is just, it's a familiar story, it's a familiar story, hitting some familiar beats, some real hero with a thousand faces type stuff, but the joy is still there. You can tell that story in different and interesting ways it is headlined choice calls for
Starting point is 00:07:27 better protections in the cryptocurrency market so this is about a submission that they made to the government about new protections that they want in because they're a lobbying group that's what they do but they provide some examples of the people that should have been protected when Dallas Robson the to to to to to to to to to have been protected. When Dallas Robson and her husband Jim saw an ad for cryptocurrency investing on Facebook featuring Australian entrepreneur Dick Smith and other prominent Australians, it looked pretty convincing. I think I've seen the one. It's got Chris Hemsworth on it. Yeah, there's a lot of
Starting point is 00:07:59 celebs in there, a lot of Australian celebs saying, you know how I made my millions? The Crypto baby. Not by the Marvel movie Thor, it's by the Crypto C crypto crypto crypto crypto the crypto. the crypto crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the crypto. the the the the the the the the the the thi, the the the ci, thi, thi, the the the the thi, the thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, th saying, you know how I made my millions? The crypto baby. Not by the Marvel movie Thor, it's by the crypto market. I just don't, like this is literally the first sentence of the article and I'm already looking at an alien, a pair of alien people who have seen Dick Smith and gone, well I'm sold. That guy's rich. Good enough for Dick Smith.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Good enough for me. Good enough for Dallas and Jim. The Gold Coast couple pride themselves on taking alternative approaches to things, including investing. And it seemed cryptocurrency was the way of the future. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Do you know what? Like, just let's take a guess at what taking alternative approaches to things means. Being barefoot at the supermarket? Yep. Not getting vaccinated. Yep. Yep. Things along those lies.
Starting point is 00:08:53 She's on top during sex. I don't think that's possible. Can they do that? That would it work. But now, won't tell you about it. But now, their financial future is in jeopardy. After clicking on the Facebook link, they got a call from someone claiming to be a retirement investment advisor, apparently from the UK. Over the course of about two months, the man convinced the couple to invest their entire
Starting point is 00:09:18 pension entilement, $330,000, $3,000 in his alleged cryptocurrency scheme. The money is now gone. That's so much money. That is $330,000. That is two threes and two zeros. Yeah. Unbelievable amount of money. That's so much money in two months. That one really went from zero to 330,000. In two months. In two months. That's very fast. That's about, oh my goodness. I'm not doing that math. Quote, he called both of us every day for a month or more
Starting point is 00:09:53 and gave us access to what was supposedly a cryptocurrency website, Dallas says. Oh my God. We started with a small amount of money, and all the time we were shown on this cryptocurrency weblink that the money was going up every day. We never dealt with cryptocurrency so we didn't know what it was supposed to look like. Oh my God! $330,000.
Starting point is 00:10:13 $330,000 on something you, yeah, okay. So I know we talk about scams being funny, right? I think there should be, I'm just going to go out there, I know I'm going to invite some criticism here, I think there should be like consumer protections when you walk into a bank and you sit down at the financial advisor desk and then they sell you the bank's products back to you and they may not actually be suited to your scenario or what have you. Y' a predatory loans, etc, and the, the, th, th, or th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thiiiolininter, thi, thiolinate, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thinate, thin' thin' thin' thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thiiii. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thiiolome, thiomomomu. Yeah, thiomu. And, thi. And, too, toa, toa, toa, toa, to, to, to, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. loans, etc. High-risk, you know, things where they know that they're gonna just take you for everything that you're worth because you're not going to be able to pay it.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Yeah, yeah, absolutely. When a man from the internet calls you and says, hi, I'm from the UK internet. Have you heard of cryptocurrency and then you say no? And then you give them $330, thirty thirty thirty thirty to to to tho. tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho to to to tho to to to to thir thir to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tho. tho. thir thir thir thr-a thr-a tho. theeo. theo. theoo. theoooo. theooo. theo. the the the to to to then they say, well then can I have $330,000 and then you give them $330,000? Yeah, I'm not sure you're being prayed upon. Yeah, well you are. Yeah, this is sort of just natural selection taking its course. I think that the internet does something weird to people's brains. Like if a guy rocked up to you on the street I was like I actually have a great investment opportunity that you can love you'd be like. Yeah you'd be like you're a crazy person. You are insane. I'm obviously not just going to give
Starting point is 00:11:31 $330,000 to a stranger on the street but if he calls you from the internet which I don't really understand is a phenomenon. That's worse. That's worse. That's worse. How did they get your number? Yeah. How did they get your number? You give the internet man your phone number? That's weird. Yeah. If I got a call from another tree, I'm going to smash my phone with a hammer. Yeah. If a guy from overseas has called me and knows my name,
Starting point is 00:11:57 that phone is gone. Yeah. That SIM card is going in a microwave. Yeah. As the days, I don't add a microwave, as the days went by and the amounts the Rumsons Invest went up, their advisor added a personal touch. Quote, he sent photos of his so-called grandson, I've tested incredible series of words, and Dogg, and said he was divorced and had six properties in Nusa, Dallas says. That's probably all true. That is the most believable thing I've heard yet. I have to say that like if you were trying to swindle someone from the Gold Coast,
Starting point is 00:12:34 saying that you have... You're divorced. With that you have several properties in on the Sunshine Coast, is great because it is kind of aspirational. Yeah, like well you guys are a bad coast. Yeah it's also a little far away as well. Yeah. Well you can't drive three hours and go and check that'd be crazy. Probably two and a half actually I think what's your in the highway? Yeah. The advisor explained that their investments would be protected by blockchain technology the digital ledger that keeps track of cryptocurrency holdings. Well thank God. Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh the the the the the the the the their. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. their. they. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. It's. It's. It's. It's. I'm. I'm. It's. It's. I'm. It's. I'm. I'm. the. the. the. the. I'm. the. I'm. the. I'm. I'm. I'm cryptocurrency holdings. Well thank God. Oh, what's the problem then? It was supposed to protect us from anyone coming in and taking that money, says Dallas, and we had heard about that. Had heard about what? You'd heard the word blockchain. And taking, you know, 330,000 of your dollars.
Starting point is 00:13:22 That you gave to a guy who called you on the phone From the internet Clicked on an internet ad with Dixman in it. Yeah, yeah But then the man who'd been calling them every day for months claimed to have fallen ill with COVID-19 and the new man started calling Well, it's just way too much to this. Just take the money. They put it in a lot of work to get it. All he kept saying was, send us more money, send us more money, Dallas says. My husband and I both emailed him and told him, we don't have any more money, you've got it all, and he said, oh, what about the house? What about the house, Ben? That's where I live. The scammers apparently worked as a team.
Starting point is 00:14:07 Quote, another man rang us, who was supposedly from a firm who got money back from scammers, Dallas says. It was also a scam and we lost a further $10,000 on our credit cards. A very big lesson in trust, sadly. So you gave $330,000 to a random person from the internet and then another random person from the internet has said, oh man, we're going to get your money back and all it will take is one payment of $10,000 and you said, oh, this is like what God does to do or whoever does too. It's like, you've failed not one but two tests and here's your last test.
Starting point is 00:14:46 It's like, how stupid are these people? Right. So the $3,000 is taking their son. Yeah, then the $10,000 is turning their wife into a pillar of salt. Yeah, that's right. Exactly. Exactly. Hey, it's me, Ben, from the podcast, Buontavista. I just want to get ahead of this. I know most of you have already got your laptops out or your iPhones and you're only sending in angry messages to the podcast. Yeah, I understand it is Lott's wife who was turned into a pillar of salt. In the case of Job, his wives were untouched.
Starting point is 00:15:23 God took away his, sorry Satan, the devil took away his sons, his wealth and inflicted him with a plague of boils, I believe from memory. And then he gave it all back, he was richer than ever before, and he had several unbelievably hot daughters, but no pillar of salt. I'd like to apologize for this era won't happen again. Thank you very much. Enjoy the rest of the podcast. I hope you have a nice day. Bye. Sorry. It makes it funny. It's a hundred percent funny now. I can't believe you got scammed by like a secondary scam on top of the scam.
Starting point is 00:16:03 You got done by the wallet inspector and then you got done by the fake commission for Wallet Inspector. Hunter. That's a fun scam calling people who have been scammed saying that you're someone who gets money back from scamming. Yeah and all it's got to cost you is $10,000 which is I think'll agree, much less than $330,000. A guy with a fake moustache has come up and said, hello, I'm the wallet inspector.
Starting point is 00:16:30 He's gone off with your wallet. And the guy with a fake moustache and a monocle has come up and said, I'm actually on the trail of the wallet inspector. And you have just... I just need 10 grand. The Robson's contract contacted the A-triple-C in an attempt to recover their funds, but the agency said there was very little I could do as the scam had originated overseas. Dallas Robson is not particularly optimistic about getting her money back, but she wants to do what she can to prevent others from falling prey to a cryptocurrency scam. If we can stop one person from getting into this situation,
Starting point is 00:17:02 that I would be absolutely over the moon, she says, I don't want anyone else to feel like we felt, which that's very nice. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to lose $330,000. All of the money you had set aside for your pension. And by your own fault too. Like it's your fault that you lost. Yeah, it's entirely your fault. Like, you lie up, awake to to to to to to blame to blame to blame to blame to blame to blame to blame to blame the th. to blame th. thiiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm thoom. I'm thi. I's that, thoom. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I. I'm. I'm th. I'm th. And, th. And, th. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, it. Yeah, it's entirely your fault. Like you lie up awake at night thinking, who have I got to blame for this? Oh, it's me.
Starting point is 00:17:29 And also my wife. You probably blame your wife and the scammers. Yeah. Like the scammers scammed you. So you know, they're at play. I feel like they're blameless in this process. in a shopping car, a parking, parking lot. Shopping car parking lot, that's right. That's your $20, right? If you ask somebody from the internet,
Starting point is 00:17:50 could I have $330,000 and they say yes, that's your money, that's free money. That's free money. That's free money. That's free money. And you could spend that $330,000. Would you do another scam after you made $330,000? Well, I mean, now it's time to scale up, isn't it? I guess, so you buy more, well because at that point you're splitting it, because there's
Starting point is 00:18:10 two of you in the scam operation. There is two. And you've actually made $340,000 in total. Wait, is this three men? Oh, do you think the second scammer is part of the first scam. Did they just stumble upon a second scam by accident? Oh man. A little more than one in ten Australians bought a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum over the past 12 months. That's too many.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Like I know one person I think who has bought cryptocurrency in my social network. Yeah. As far as I know. One in ten. That's crazy, right? There's way too many. Theo, you work in, you know, the sciences and the stem, so you probably know a few more cryptocurrency owners than I do.
Starting point is 00:19:01 I'm sure I do. More than 7 out of 10 who reported being interested in the crypto market declined to make a purchase because of concerns about volatility, being scammed or otherwise losing their money. That's heartening. 71% of people are like, I would like to, but I think it's fucked. Seven out of ten wet blankets. And we love this style of wet blanket. You are a logical wet blanket. Earlier this
Starting point is 00:19:26 year we reported that Australians lost $99 million to crypto investment scams in 2021. The total loss for crypto scams in general was $129 million. It was the country. Not just to crypto, like to scams relating to crypto. Yes, yeah, that's right. It's so much money. That's like $6 per Australian. No one checked that mouth. I think that's heinously wrong. Yeah, no, that's...
Starting point is 00:19:55 It was the country's costliest scam at the time, and probably still is. That's a funny thing for a press release to say. We haven't checked, it seems true. In March the A-triple-C started legal proceedings against Facebook alleging that it engaged in false misleading or deceptive contact by publishing cryptocurrency investment scam advertisements featuring Australian public figures including businessman Dick Smith, TV presenter David Kosh
Starting point is 00:20:19 and former New South Wilesbury Air Mike Band. Oh man. It's a weird little trio. It's so weird. That fandom though, that is a, those three guys you're targeting the worst people alive. That is ripe ground. I just, it sucks that this works. Imagine being the person that's like, well, Koshi. Koshi.

My bad says it's good. Yeah. It was the very scam that lured in the Robsons. We've recently heard from a number of consumers who learned the hard way that the crypto market poses many risks. Quote, I did lots and lots of research and took every precaution but still got scammed and lost $30,000. Stephen tells us. You didn't just said it's wrong. You didn't take, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Yeah, incorrect. I don't think you took any precautions because you did it. Yeah. So you fucked up. What precaution did you take? Name one. Like name one. Did you ask your wife if it was okay?
Starting point is 00:21:21 Quote I was conned and lost 50K, Wilson says. But even when you're not caught up in a scam, the crypto market can all too easily run off with your money. Quote, the bitcoins went up in value, the bitcoins, this is so good they said this. Starting point is 00:21:52 Awful. Quote, I decided to leave my small amount in place as I thought it would go up again. What I didn't and couldn't know was that the company that held my bitcoins was in trouble and was taken over by another company. When I approached the new company, I didn't receive a reply. I never made any money out of my bitcoins which I believe are still out there somewhere if only I could find them. You don't have more than one bitcoin. You don't have several bitcoins at this stage. Where are you're out there? Gold da Bloons. Ah, if I find where they're buried I would retrieve my bit coins. It seems like every dealing with crypto currency is some sort of a disaster.
Starting point is 00:22:50 And all over the world another type of disaster is happening. It's time, of course, I always say of course before I do it. I think it's to fill in time so I can collect my thoughts and find the soundboard, but it feels very professional. It's time of course for the tipping report. I'm itching for another edition of the tiping report. How'd that go for you? It went great. And you guys can hear that right? No, we absolutely not. Right, that's why you're looking at me weird and you did it last time as well. Yeah, okay because I can hear it and I'm having a great time with it, which the the the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, t, t, t, I t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm th, I'm th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, tipe, thin, tiping, tiping, tiping, tiping tiping tiping tiping tiping tiping thin, thin well. Plenty of time to put it in there in post. Yep, okay, because I can hear it, and I'm having a great time with it, which is why I'm not doing anything for 10 seconds at a time.
Starting point is 00:23:28 I can imagine the theme. I'm playing in my head. And we'll see what I do in post, depending on how sleepy I am to today. The tiving report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report report is is the the the the the where things have spilled out onto highways across the globe. First up we have a load of concrete on Colorado State Highway 470 outside of Denver. That's just a free road. Again, it's really a phenomenon that we're used to. Fill in those potholes. This is the American infrastructure investment approach now I think.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Just wait until that happens. Done. Just trucks full of concrete speeding around, full speed. Not slowing down for corners. Getting rid of all these slow down for corners. Canola oil on Prospect Lake Road in Sannich, British Columbia. Which seems like a real like Mario cart thing to do to the car behind you. The contents of a small septic tank on California State Highway 108 near Sonora.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Yep. Don't want that. In a similar vein, a load of manure on Interstate 76 in Colorado. Just a lot of people out there having a really stinky time. That's right, yes. Stinks across America. Several tons of wooden planks on Ontario Highway 17 near Montreal River Harbor. The story that I saw this through was actually a heartwarming story of a bunch of bystanders picking up all of the timber planks and moving them.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Oh, that's nice. Yeah. A trailer full of large stones on Interstate 57 near Champagne, Illinois. That is of course spelled CHAMP AIGN. Beautiful place America. Nitric acid on Auto Pista 7 near Los Alcares in Mers, Spain. What's nitric acid? Is that bad? Is that one of the bad ones? It doesn't sound good. I'm going to say, almost universally, anything with acid in it, other than acid, bad.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Three and a half tons of frozen pies on interstate 80 near Joliet, Illinois. Three and a half tons. Yeah, that's a thrown pie. And th that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. that's thi that's that's that's thi. thi. that's that's thi. thi. thi. that's thi. thi. thi. that's thi. that's thi-a. thi. thi-a' thicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicic. thic. thic. thic. thicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicicic. thicon. thi. thi. thi. thi. It's than an thiaa'n't is America. So that's a sweet pie. Well, we're not talking the same bread. Oh, we're doing a sweet pie. Yeah, see, I pictured meat pies, but obviously. Me too, yeah. I was thinking dinner's served. But it turns out dessert is served. That's absolutely right. Interestingly enough. Maybe a little bit more research into their road, safety, etc. Yeah. And finally, a quote, massive spill of an unidentified red liquid on Interstate 15 near Salt Lake City, Utah. We got a mystery liquid. A little cross over there,
Starting point is 00:26:25 yeah. It looked a, from the picture, didn't look like blood. It looked a little, yeah, nice to get that out of the way early. Yeah. It looked a little bit like it had the consistency of wine maybe. But it would have been an awful lot of it so I'm not entirely sure about that. Podcasts. They're nature's greatest natural resource and it's important that they're harvested sustainably. Editing, production, fart sound effects. These are all important resources from our local ecosystems. That's why we're asking you to go to Patreon.com slash Wunta Vista and pledge five US dollars a month to help support the healthy growth of a homegrown podcast like Wintovista. In exchange you'll get an extra sustainably farmed episode every week, access to our discord
Starting point is 00:27:15 and a naturally pristine promo-free podcast feed. Thank you for helping look after one of nature's most precious resources. These are all examples of something happening that's a bit of a big deal, but sometimes something happens that's not a big deal at all. Now, I was kind of hoping because Andrew usually has a miraculous turnaround on asking him for a theme and then getting that theme. Yeah. But I think he's just been very busy. So I'm going to play the Nothing to Report Report theme and then getting that theme. Yeah. But I think he's just been very busy. So I'm going to play the nothing to report report theme. But it's actually the not much to report report report report report. It's the nothing to report report report report the nothing to report report report report report report the nothing to report report report report what happened. Nothing. Shh. Nothing to report, report, report, report, report, then nothing to report, report, report. What happened?
Starting point is 00:28:06 Nothing. Shhh. So you should mind your fucking business, it's nothing to report, report, report, report. Nothing to report, report, report. Nothing to report, report, report. Nothing to report, report, report. This story from WATN news in Memphis, Tennessee. Hot air balloon inflated near side of the highway in Memphis during rush hour.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Yeah. What are your initial thoughts about this story? Like what do you think the, what's the lead here? What's the, what's the juice? Some guys just pumping up his hot air balloon on the side of the highway? Is that something you're not supposed to do? It seems implied? Can he do that? th? th? th? th? th? th? th? th? th. th. th, th? th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th, th, th, th, th, th, thi? thi? thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. thi, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to, to to to, to to to, to, to, to, to, to, to to thi? thi. to the juice? Some guys just pumping up his hot air balloon on the side of the highway? Is that something you're not supposed to do? It seems implied. Can he do that? Can I even do that? This is near side of the highway.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Yeah, he's not like he was... It wasn't on the road. Yeah, lots of things happened near the side of this story. A hot air balloon was inflated near busy interstate 40 traffic just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The balloon was inflated purposely in the parking lot of Nolan Avenue, no of Nolan A. V. at, the 6225 Shelby Oaks Drive. 6222. Yeah. That number's way too fucking high. Yeah. Oh and I'm like I don't want to you know I don't want to get grumpy on the podcast, you
Starting point is 00:29:27 know, I like to be an open-minded, friendly guy. Oh, yeah, are we talking about the guy. People writing it about the large numbers about us complaining about them? Well because the numbers are too high, and here that that's a very long road and that's just bad road design dude. You want- And it sounds stupid. It sounds stupid. You sound so fucking stupid when you guys say this. Yeah, because you want your little roads, your little streets to go into little roads and then they go into little, you know, regional roads with like a little avenue, like a little avenue. Maybe a court. And then that's going to go on to like a main, a main arterial road. It's a feeder system, you don't just want fucking a grid going as far as the
Starting point is 00:30:12 eye. That's just bad. That's just bad. I know Americans love sitting in there in an enormous Ford 350 car with the separate camera screen down below to see what's in front of them. Yeah, that legally you have to put in the toddler murderer 5,000 because of, it's implied in the name, but yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. To just sit in grid lock. Yeah. In a grid. In a grid. In a town of 33,000 people. Yeah, that's right. You know what a really good car design feature is? Is if you put in some safety features,
Starting point is 00:30:50 like cameras on every point of the car, because you have no visibility just from sitting inside the car, that require you to be looking away from the road to see your blind spots, yeah. You should definitely be staring at the center console of your car while you're driving. Yeah, that's super good. Americans? This is the first time you've probably ever been criticized. Anyway, don't run into us about the long numbers thing. Please don't fix your streets. Some people have written in about it as a joke after we said not to don't do it. Don't do the joke. Don't want to hear it. Don't want to hear it. Don't to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. A. A. A. A. A. A. Americans. A. A. A. Not kidding. Not interested. Don't do the joke. Yeah. Don't want to hear about it. You sound like you're hearing. We have to learn about all of America's things. Yeah. And you don't have to learn anything about any other countries? You are unfettered by roundabouts. So give us the joy of finding America silly as revenge. That's the only thing every other country in the world has in common, is that we know too
Starting point is 00:31:45 much about America but we're allowed to think it's silly. And that way we don't freak out when you say what the temperature is in Fahrenheit because we're familiar with it. Yeah, oh yeah, 99, that's like what, what even that is about 32 degrees Celsius? What's that? What's that? You, minus 40 and then you times it by 5 over 9? Yeah. Minus 32 I think yeah and then 5 over 9. Yeah, yeah, sounds normal to me. Plus 32. Yeah, something like that. Yeah, something like that.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Yeah, we'll figure it out. You know know if we're on the internet as someone in the Southern Hemisphere and we say oh it's very warm today they go what? Someone replies and says what the fuck are you talking about you idiot do you know how stupid you sound right now or I say it's Thursday and they go this is Wednesday this Wednesday anyway this is directed specifically at a guy on thi This is Wednesday. Anyway, uh... This is directed specifically in a guy on Twitter who told me that I spell diarrhea wrong. It's you just about diarrhea wrong because you're a silly American way.
Starting point is 00:32:56 I prefer it. I don't want to put an O in diarrhea. That's fine the o'er. I love that oh. That's one of the silliest It really brings out the word. No, it makes it more medical. It brings it starkly into relief. Yeah, I can't. I'm spelling out the American way.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Yeah, it's so embarrassing to spell it the English way. That's fucking rank. Can we there people out there sexting? And they're saying, baby, let me that arse. I would love to see your arse. You're out there saying that. Come on now. Come on. Don't be ridiculous. Maybe if you've got an Irish accent, I'll allow it. But outside of that, fuck off.
Starting point is 00:33:33 The balloon was inflated purposely in the parking lot of Nolan A.V. 62-25 Shelby Oaks Drive, with permission from the owner to promote the Bluff City Balloon-B balloone that starts on June 17th in Memphis. Makes sense. Yep. Obviously. Chakes out. Traffic quickly began to back up near the landing side of the balloon as drivers heading into Memphis slowed down to look at the spactical. That's not his fault. That's not his fault. You've got the people of rubberneck in the balloon. I mean, I'm going to stop to look, slow down to look at a balloon if it's there. I'd probably look at it. Just after 8 a.m., Ways, the traffic monitoring app, showed that the average speed near the side of the balloon landing was 19.9 miles per hour.
Starting point is 00:34:12 That is the end of the story. That's it. Some guy was blowing up a balloon jam. Yep. Starting point is 00:34:43 Southern Security, the Hilton Garden Inn, monogram Foods, Pickler, wealth advisors. What? I don't think it's wealth advisors for people who pickle professionally, but how to say. Thrive Memphis, the Special Olympics, Home Sweets by Hilton, Paralyzed Veterans of America. That's just a good collection of people. Sure. Celebrate with us, June 17th to 19th, it's a family fun event. Enjoy early afternoon tethered rides. Okay. So I guess that's a hot air balloon that's connected
Starting point is 00:35:21 to the ground by a rope. And you just have a little ride and that sounds like fun. That sounds like safe fun, which I respect. The evening balloon glow featuring over 20 balloons, mingle among the balloons as they light up the night sky. Oh. I don't think you can. Or are the balloons on the ground? Oh, they just are on the ground. So they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. the. the. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. the thean. the they've got a bunch of balloons with their balloons inflated, but not enough to take them off

Starting point is 00:36:33 I'll give you a second to do that. I was just reading about fucking the Jonestown again. You know, my yearly Jonestown. Yeah. Just refresh. They killed so many people they killed way more people that you remember yeah yeah they got heaps like you think an art the the Jonestown massacre they would have killed 90 people and that's a lot that was 900 people oh that's that's actually that's so many fucking people they're they would have to they would have killed 90 people they'd they're they're they're they're they they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're That was 900 people. Oh that's that's
Starting point is 00:37:06 actually that's so many fucking people. It's way more than you remember right? Jesus Christ. And we think like it gets joked about in popular culture and stuff and like no that's just that's who's been drinking the coolade yeah about 900 people and they all died yeah and they actually tang. Yeah and also they drank it because they were sort of held a gunpoint and stuff as well. It's not because they were it's not because of the guys, guys holding guns and like we're gonna, we're gonna shoot you. If you don't know that part. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like, there weren't that many true believers. There was just a whole bunch of people just just killed Cool. Yeah It's a true crime podcast now
Starting point is 00:37:50 Sorry, I'm just checking out what the the flavoring in the the graphic called nine hundred people was yeah It's surprising the thing is that blah blah. No, a podcast should actually be about basically nothing. Here's another not much to report report story. This is from WTAE News in Pennsylvania, with just a stunning headline. Customer walks into Empty Burger King. Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Well, that's how you tell a story. If you've tried to order from a fast food restaurant recently, you may have noticed a longer wait for service. A Pittsburgh's Action News 4 viewer shared a video of one local restaurant with not a single employee or customer inside. Yeah you're gonna be waiting a while. Showed up to this, sorry, quote, showed up to this Burger King on Noblestown Road and there is nobody in here. Nobody in here. Went to the drive-through? Nothing, he says in the video. That's free Burger King. You can get back there and make anything you want. Yeah, usually they're there to stop you like hop in that path, but yeah, if you can get over there. What's the biggest whopper? It's like the ultimate double whopper? Is that the biggest one though? I don't know. I don't know. Biggest. Biggest. Biggest. Biggest. There is a Oh, oh, that's fucking nasty. I regret googling this.
Starting point is 00:39:47 There is a very YouTube thumbnail, YouTube thumbnail I'm looking out of Burger King's biggest whopper ever, and there's a man making... He's doing a sort of... And I hate saying this, and I know, started by the worst people of life, but it is the face that he's making, he's making a soy face and a whopper constructed of 10 patties. And that could be you. That could be the empty burger king.
Starting point is 00:40:12 I don't, I'm not interested in a fucking comedy meal. No, I like a nice meal. Yeah, I like a nice meal. Yeah. Making a little, making yourself a little barbecue prepared by a jester. No. I don't want my meal to be sort of the culinary form of a jape. No.
Starting point is 00:40:31 You want non-jape foods. I want non-jave foods. Serious eats. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want a milkshake with a burger on it or whatever the fuck those people were doing for a while. It's so fucking stupid. Oh look how fucking nasty this burger looks. Yeah, you're right, it does look nasty. I don't give a shit. Post it in a selfie picture on Instagram? What? What? Using a selfie stick to take your picture? Uh, come on, I would rather eat a single small cheeseburger.
Starting point is 00:41:05 There may be some chippies. I just, I think that might be the, the underlying ethos of this podcast is, what if things were normal and nice? Yeah. And just like, fine. Yeah. Is everyone else taking crazy pills? Yeah. Are we the only same ones out here? Because that's how it feels sometimes. In the video, Laz Tantalo, Star Wars' ass fucking names, described its experience when he tried to order food on a Friday afternoon. He went through the drive-through and saw no workers, and went into the dining room, and found no one there.
Starting point is 00:41:43 He even opened the door, but found no one in the kitchen. Anybody here? Hello? Pittsburgh's Action News 4 learned that the single employee who showed up for their shift that day just left. That's so funny. Who the fucking? Whoever you are? Trent, Belinda, Avery, whatever your name might be. Good on you. Just fucking hit the bricks. Get the fuck out of there. A manager eventually showed up to lock the doors until the restaurant could be staffed. And that's just a beautiful story.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Could have done it yourself. You could have made your own fucking burger. And that's just a beautiful story. Could have done it yourself. Could have done it yourself. You could have made your own fucking burger! I don't think... I agree with this guy that that is a wild situation to find yourself in. I don't agree with his method. Which is not having made himself a burger. And then calling the news.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Calling Pittsburgh's action news for. Yeah, that is criminal behavior to mean. More so more criminal than jumping over the back there and you know they got the good bubblers back there. You could also just like I bet you being on the other side of the POS system pretty easy to figure out although maybe you have to scan yourself in with like a lanyard or something. I don't really know if they you could probably pay for your own meal if you're on the system. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. the. to. the to. the to. I. I. I. I. I. I the the to really really really really really really. I. I'll probably probably really. I. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Is that what you're saying? Yeah, you maybe had some cash on you. You just leave ten bucks on the counter. Yeah. Like imagine... How can't be that how to make your shit out of the back?
Starting point is 00:43:09 Like not saying that, you know, it's not skilled to work because obviously doing that sort of like fast work to demand constantly how everything works. You could figure it out. You could start working there yourself, pocketing that cash because you don't work at that hungry jack. And they'd probably be... Yeah. And then like, hey, is this 40-year-old man wearing like a baseball cap and shorts and thongs? Is he the guy that runs his place? You say, yes, I'm the manager, last Tantolo. I would love to serve you a...
Starting point is 00:43:46 I can make you one kind of burger. I haven't figured out the friar, but you don't go to figure something out for you. I feel like you would have a brief moment of thinking that maybe you're in like a Stephen King novel. Yeah, where like... You're being pranked. You're on that classic prank show, nobody works at this restaurant anymore. I wonder what I would do at that situation. I have a very deep-seated fear of doing the wrong thing or breaking some rules that I wasn't aware of. I feel like my entire body would freeze up and I would just stand there teaposing until
Starting point is 00:44:28 someone came in and told me that I was okay. Yeah. Yeah, good luck to him. An empty burger king, that's deeply unnatural. It's time to turn our eye towards things that are natural. In Nature Corner. Rubbercrat, sniffed my dear. This is a story from the evening standard. Woman injured in wild boar attack on beach in Costa del Sol.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Now that's not a fun headline. No. Yeah. Um. Is this one of those grim episodes again, Ben? Did you do us a grim boy? You know, I was genuinely thinking about this, but I also thought timing-wise that the last story was going to be the last one, that this was going to be the first story of the next episode.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Yeah. But let's see, you know, we can find that. technically comedians I think now. A woman sunbather was injured as she was bitten by a wild boar on Costa del Sol beach. The surreal drama, not that surreal. Yeah. It's not like it's not a fucking McGrete painting like it's a wild animal. Medics who treated her at a local health center have told local press they believe, sorry, I really need you to pay crucial attention to this sentence to tell me what the fuck is going on here. Medics who treated her at a local health center have told local press they believe the victim's bite injury may have been caused when the wild board charged her
Starting point is 00:46:23 and collided with her around where its teeth are. Gotta fill out a word count for your news filing too? This is like they're doing the officer involved shaving wording for a pig attack. But you repeat yourself Ben. There it is now that's comedy figure. This is so fucking weird. Are they saying that that, are they making the point, they're making the distinction that's comedy figure. This is so fucking weird. Are they saying that, are they making the point, they're making the distinction that the ball is not aggressive? Yeah, he's just gone, he's just gone hogwild if you'll allow me.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Won't. Okay. He's gone crazy. Yeah, he's got crazy. He's got the zoomies. Who was it expecting to run into a woman sunbather? It's something so powerfully, it's a very evocative image for me, a feral pig rising from the sea. Like you imagine that airbrushed on the side of a van.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Hanging out on the beach and he's just coming out of the water. I'm kind of seeing it in sort of like Japanese brush work. Oh, I like that. Yeah. Yeah, maybe done by our friend Hoku-si. He did that arm. Yeah, I don't know if you've ever seen it. It's the, well, he did do that one, but he also did another one, which is that the lady in her friend, the octopus. Oh, which I've seen in person. Yes, you have. As we've discussed on the Theophiles, the one about the rock, and I can't remember what the second half was. Yeah, anyway. Potentially, and I know at least one more episode.
Starting point is 00:47:59 Yeah. It is funny that you've seen that. It's very funny thing to see unexpectedly. And it's also a very serious work of art and I've never looked into why. But apparently very important in the canon of art. You can't, it can't be that enjoyable right? Like, because they've got a beak going on in their mouth. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's true. Yeah, true. Yeah, true. Yeah. Yeah, true. Yeah. Yeah, true. Yeah, true. Yeah. Yeah, true. Yeah, true. Yeah, true. Yeah, true. Yeah, that's that's could be anything. Yeah, yeah, that's true. And if you know why that painting is important, let us know. Her quote, minor leg injury was cleansed as a precaution and she is believed to have been told to take antibiotics to prevent infection.
Starting point is 00:48:39 It's just smart. Emergency responders were alerted just after 11 a.m. to the incident at El Albia Beach just north of Benadorm. Where is this? So the original, did they say, Costa Delasol? Yeah, I believe is that in Spain? Yeah. I think that's in Spain.
Starting point is 00:48:59 In Espania. Yeah, it's in Spain. Which, so most of my sort of education about boars and wild boars has come from the asterisks. Most of mine came from Age of Vampires too. Oh, okay. So I don't know whether they go further than, like, whether they range further than ancient Gaul? Which is largely France, right? Yeah, sort of
Starting point is 00:49:28 Normandy area. Yeah, I don't really know anything about you. Not interested. It seems like a silly place. The animal had been spotted in the water by boat crews who alerted lifeguards on the beach as it began to head for dry land after they made an unsuccessful attempt to catch it. So it seems like these guys actually drove it towards the sunbathe's. Good job. It is believed to have come from nearby Saragalada Natural Park which consists of over 5,000 acres of protected coastline in the municipalities of Benadorm, Alphaz del Pai and Altaia. It is not known how it ended up in the sea. I have a guess. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:09 Probably just went in there. It probably just went in there. Yeah, like it just probably walked in there. I don't think like... It's a boar. You don't want to assign. Operation Dumbo dropped it into the sea. So that it would be funny to throw a wild boar into the ocean.
Starting point is 00:50:25 It would be funny for a little bit, I think, for a little while. Hey, look at that guy. Oh shit, he's heading for that peach. Also, if I see a wild boar in the ocean, none of my business. Yeah. I'm leaving that alone. I'm leaving that the bore enough agency, he knows what he's doing. I'm not checking his like his stamina meter to make sure that he's not gonna drown in there or whatever because I'm like okay you decided to be in there you probably know your limits unless he's Gatica and then he's saved to nothing for the swim back. Like in the movie Gattica. I hadn't seen it. Yeah okay. Footage of the extraordinary incident showed locals and tourists screaming and th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their thi thi their stamina thususususus the the the theanor their stamina theanor the the of theanor theanor theanor theanor theanor theanor the the the the the the tham tham th. Starting point is 00:51:09 ran over their towels and along the sand where moments earlier they had been tanning themselves in near 30 degree heat. The nationality of the 67 year woman hurt, the only person who was injured is not yet known. That's unfortunate. Why, I don't need to know her nationality. Yeah. Well, if she was English, we could fight it funny. Yeah. That's true. The lifeguards managed to chase the animal away from the beach and crowded seafront bars and cafes before it caused any more problems.
Starting point is 00:51:37 It's whereabouts on Friday afternoon were unknown. Yes. That's fine. I mean it probably might have. Yeah. I guess I'm really an expert on boar so I don't really know. They got a helicopter following it around. The drama occurred just days after it emerged that the nearby holiday resort of Dennya, around a 40-minute drive north, is set to use arches to keep tourists safe from problem-while boars roaming town streets at night. This is Age of Empires, too. It is, 100% is. It's going to set up some arches on the side of the building to shoot Wild Boars.
Starting point is 00:52:31 Yeah, they've got murder holes set up in the outskirts of their village so that they can. I mean, if they can enter the Iron Age, I think they get their es soon. Yeah you start building the towers that will just sort of passively defend so you don't actually have to have units there because those are taking up your population cap. Yes. Yeah. You know they build so many houses. I guess the like it's kind of good that it's arches I guess because the alternative is America and it's a bunch of people they are 15s wandering around and they're just firing into homes where people are sleeping. I think to kill a wild boar you need to have archery skills. Yeah. I think that's fair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:16 They've got tusks, you've got arrows. When I was like probably 13 or 14 years old, I, one of my dad's friends, I don't know. We somehow got to to talking about it. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to their their their to their their their their their people their people to to to to their people their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their people. their people. their people. their people. their people. their people. their people. their people. their people. I, one of my dad's friends, I don't know, we somehow got to talking about like how he did competition archery as a young man. And I was like, oh, that's fucking, that's cool as hell. I think archery is super cool. I want to get into archery. And then he tried to, we started this sort of woodworking project where I tried to make a wooden bow with his help and we fucked it up and it didn't work. But he was like, oh, well if you're interested in that, here's a bunch of magazines about all of them were boar hunting magazines about killing pigs with bow and arrows.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Cool. Yeah, I learned a lot about, what do they call instinct shooting or reflexing? You don't think you just do it. Just let your reflexes take over. It's pretty cool. That actually sounds pretty sick. I really want. I mean, I didn't want to kill wild pigs. Although in Australia, you are doing the environment of favor by killing those pigs.
Starting point is 00:54:18 Yeah, that's true. Yeah, I just know if I did it, I'd be like, I'd of its toes off and then it lives and it's just sort of inconvenienced for the rest of its life and it's angrier it's actually killing more native wildlife. Yeah it's really nursing a nursing a wound there in its soul into the angry pig god yeah yeah the pronged to be angry you've created pig bane from Batman yeah that if he was a pick yeah yeah You become angry. Yeah. From Batman. From what? Hey? Pig Bane from Batman. But if he was a pick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:50 So he has all of the attributes of the character Bain. What do you sound like? Yeah, if you can do some voice work here for us. This is where we need Demi. To do Tom Hardy is Bain, but he's a pig. He's also a pig man. Demi, if you're listening to this episode, could you please, 1-800-317-5-5? Leave us a little recording of Bain, but he is a pig man.
Starting point is 00:55:19 And we'll put that post credits. Yes, but not on this episode, because you haven't heard this episode. Because the episode will have had to have been released first. Oh, shit, I was thinking, how is she's th th th th th th th th th th th you thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi theeee. theat the. the. theate. the. theate. the. thi thi thi thi to thi not on this episode because you haven't heard this episode will have had to have been released first. Oh shit I was thinking how she's gonna get that in it. Yeah she's not gonna be able to. I should apply for MENSA. What if we were a fully certified MENSA podcast? Yeah I think we should be funny, but you know it would be even funnier is if only one of us didn't pass the IQ tests. We all know who it would be, but we don't need to acknowledge it. It's me. I don't think we need to talk about it. Yeah. Earlier in the show, we talked about a balloon. It's time for balloonly speaking. This is your captain speaking.
Starting point is 00:56:06 Please return your seats to their upright positions as we are coming in hot on another edition of Plainly Speaking. This is from WFRV news in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Now again, I really, I didn't think this was going to be the end of the episode. I thought we'd learned our lesson from the last bonus, but we just went through these stories fast that I thought we would would would would would would would would would would would th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the theat th th to be the end of the episode. I thought we'd learned our lesson from the last bonus, but we just went through these stories fast than I thought we would. Three seriously injured after hot air balloon collides with train in Wisconsin. That's a funny image though, like it's a little bit funny.
Starting point is 00:56:37 It's a little bit funny. It shouldn't be down there. So we have spoken about this phenomenon this this this this this this this this this phenomenon about this phenomenon in the past. We did an episode covering National Transport Safety Bureau reports of hot air balloon accidents, one of which was just that a hot air balloon got dangerously close to a train, which we have now managed to outdo. Now you all know the wording says a hot air balloon collided with a train, not a train collided with a hot air balloon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Which is probably like the better of the two. I feel like the stakes are lower. Yeah. Although all the three people... Not a lot of damage you can do with a wicker, I think. Yeah, I mean, it turns out the three people inside can still get pretty fucked up. Three people suffered life-threatening injuries after a hot air balloon reportedly collided with a train in Wisconsin. Sucks sucks for them but they knew what they were getting into. They knew when they signed up to go on a lovely hot air balloon to a
Starting point is 00:57:34 that they might collide with a train. Why you're right why you're riding your balloon down there? Why you're riding your balloon down the? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why higher. Like that's the one thing that you have control over. That's literally all you've got. You got the whole Z access to work with up there. You, no control over X, no control over Y, no control over T, but that's all yours, baby. Yeah, that's what that's what the rope, that's your baby. Yeah, that's what that and that's what the rope's for. It's the Z rope. Just like looking as you're hurdling towards a train to be like, oh I wish there was one thing I could do about this.
Starting point is 00:58:12 And then too late, they're like, oh fuck, the rope! The Burlington Police Department said that on, Wednesday, around, first responders were dispatched after it was reported that a train had hit... Oh no, okay. Yeah, sorry, it's... Saying their story, what's going on here? Yeah, they flipped around. It's reported that a train had hit a hot air balloon. Three people in the balloon reportedly had a life-threatening injuries. Two people were airlifted to a local hospital. Witnesses reportedly told authorities that the hot air balloon, quote, appeared in distress and collided with a northbound Canadian national train.
Starting point is 00:58:50 Yeah, that makes sense. They do only collide with trains when they're very distressed. The Burlington Police Department is conducting an investigation with the National Traffic Safety Board, Federal Aviation Administration, Canadian National and the Wisconsin State Patrol. I was hoping they'd mix the train board in there as well somewhere. Just a representative from everyone's pointing figures. Every modal transport. It's a train's fault. No, it's a balloons fault. You just know that like the balloon representative there is wearing like a silly bow tie.
Starting point is 00:59:25 He's dressed like the fucking Met Smith doctor. Terrible mustache, yeah. Yeah. Everyone's like, oh, this fucking guy. I just, I get that like, balloons seem like a nice idea. Theo, I believe you've had a romantic evening on a hot air balloon before. Romantic morning. You gotta get up early from. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:46 I just don't think that the world needs the hot air balloon anymore. No. We don't need it. That's the relic of the past. But like the remote control good year blimp that's going above, you know, football games? Fine. All right, if we must.
Starting point is 01:00:00 But I don't think we need a type of... Yeah, a worse version. Yeah, there's an incredibly dangerous thing that has one control and sometimes you can't do anything about it. Let's make a drone. Let's make a drone that you and your partner can go up on a romantic flight in. That's some guys controlling from the ground. Like it's a quadcopter that's too big, those things that they make. Yeah, a giant one. It didn't like Gaga like fucking land at the Super Bowl in one of those or some shit. Oh well then, let's start making that, that romantic trip of your dreams. I am almost certainly got every single detail of that wrong. Are you thinking about the... no hang on this is probably something that's not real as well. But the dog jet packs, is that real thing?
Starting point is 01:00:45 What the fuck you? With water? With water, are they, have they put dogs in water? What? What? What? Or is this a dream that I've had? I don't know if this Super Bowl was involved or not, but I could have sworn they put dogs in jet packs.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Dog jet pack, I'm just going to type that into duck, duck, go. Yep, I'm sure you'll get the results that you were looking for. No, all right, I might have, that might have been a dream. All right, I am looking at a photo of Lady Gaga in a sort of dress with a quadcopter above it and she is easily three foot three foot above the ground. I think my thing is real and I think your thing is insane. Yeah I have to agree that sounds super crazy. She debuted of all things a one-man flying apparatus called Volantis. The white, raucous contraption boasts six booms in a hex formation that assists with lift-off
Starting point is 01:01:54 and the front view reveals a chest-to-kneed female silhouette, which is likely the reason Gargar referred to Volantis as a woman itself by often calling it she. Now I think she's done that because it has a hull instead of a chassis Hmm, that's a little um Maritime and Tank joke for our friends out there. Don't know which friends I'm sure the podcast. But to visit. This is a shamels every time Andrew's not here. Yeah. How does he do it? He has a certain... We've gone through like 19 stories. I don't know what.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Do you think that... Because he feels time by going, hmm. I don't want to, this is going to sound like a criticism when it leaves my mouth, but I promise that it isn't. Do you think that the extra time is generally taken up by personal anecdotes from Andrew? Like it might be. Or, I might actually be load bearing. Yep, those are structural, you're not going to be able to remove those. There's so many. I've got to space this.
Starting point is 01:03:10 No, I think it has about six. But we're hearing a better version of them every single time. It's really smoothing off the rough parts. Like Zelda, it's just a retelling. Yeah, and you get something new from it every single time. And this time you've got like a magnet thing that you can use to move cubes around. Yeah, so that's cool. This is pretty awesome. In the, in the anecdote about him. Like, shooting his cemetery. Putting an enormous stick into his thigh. Oh, oh, god. Oh, God, damn.
Starting point is 01:03:42 Thank you very much for joining us. We will see you next week. And hey, stay safe after that. I'm going with tickets. Yeah, that's cool. That's cool. the
