You've got a lot of it off.
I bet he's got a nice guy.
And we could be talking about anyone.
Hello, welcome to Bonta Vista, episode 4663.
And look, I just, I want to talk about the elephant in the room.
You know, I want to address it.
We've been getting a lot of messages this week about this.
I think it's time we just sort of talk about the obvious.
And what I'm talking about is that Rita Star, Alan Richardson,
and his wife, Catherine, have announced that they have split up.
This has been in the DMs and I just, look, I just thought it might be time that we
make our pictures, you know?
We make the move.
We make the move.
We shoot our shot.
We should have shot.
I'm going to go first.
You guys have time to think about yours.
Alan, hello.
I know that you're listening.
I'm Lucy.
Love the show.
Love Ritcher.
So I do find your personality
sexually repellent
I would be incredibly mean to you
and not in a sexual way
from everything I know about you
we have absolutely nothing in common
I'm 35 years old
I live in beautiful Brisbane
I know that you've been here before
I keep myself in shape
by having eight beers and no dinner
sometimes go to Pilates
I'm into plane spotting
anime video games
I'm a Zen Yardamain on Overwatch.
I don't like the outdoors.
I don't like the beach.
Got a lot of allergies.
A lot of aversions to sort of textures and fabrics.
The sinus stuff.
Sinus stuff.
But less so, since the coring.
Less so?
Got caught out.
A bit different now.
I'd get caught a second time.
On the weekends, you'll find me at the cinema or the local cocktail bar
talking about the latest A-24 release.
I can cook and I'm great in bed, but my personality is very bad.
Alan, if this sounds like your kind of gal, please contact me,
Malbag at Bunta Vista.com.
Hey, I'm here with my friends.
Andrew, do you have a pitch for Alan Richardson?
Yeah, I think I've got a pitch for Alan Richardson.
Number one, we can work on getting you gay if you're not already.
We'll work on getting me gay.
We can get gay.
We can get you go.
I don't want to say it, but like, I mean, we might be on the way there.
A lot of people are saying, oh, maybe he's going to come out, maybe he's going to come out.
But if not, we can work on getting you gay.
If not, we can work on it.
A big part of relationships is figuring out, you know, where's the gap?
I'm working towards and meshing with each other, you know.
I get the sense that you are into the kind of films of the 1970s, you know, all pulp novels,
what with your love of the Lee Child, Jack Reacher universe.
and everything.
Plus,
just think
about how beautifully
we could harmonize together
singing an Erica Badoo song
or something by Alia.
Two men with a beautiful voice.
I think that would work.
We could be singing together, brother.
Two parts.
Also, I'd be really nice to your sons.
And when you guys all go out
on your motorbike rides together,
I'll get on the back of your Kawasaki Ninja
and hold you around your strong core.
Your sons.
Yep.
I'll be real nice, your sons.
Can I just add real quick?
Can I just add real quick?
You've done your pitch.
No, no, no, you've got sons.
You've got sons.
I'm really good at Fortnite.
I'm really good at Fortnite.
You just know that you've been out matched.
You just know that Andrew is hitting all the notes in the pitch.
You know you're fucked up.
I think also saying I'm really good at sex.
It's too strong.
You can't.
You can't apply it.
You can't just say I'm really good at sex.
I'm really good at communicating and we'll figure the sex out together, buddy.
This is cool at that.
It's cool at that.
having beautifully exploratory sex together and then afterwards we just lie there in the dark harmonizing to Roberta Flacks feel like making love.
That's really good.
Ben?
I think it's just kind of self-evident.
I'm like just such a like, I like to think I kind of present.
Yeah, I think you'd look at me and you'd be like, what's up with that guy?
He seems intriguing.
He's down to fuck.
I know that because he keeps saying it.
But also he doesn't have the...
That guy seems intriguing and down to fuck.
Yeah, that's definitely...
That guy seems intriguing and down to fuck.
But he's not really looking after himself in a way that suggests that he's gay.
And that will sort of give him a familiar ground to start with.
Because I'm giving him the very traditional but also insanely erotic,
straight guys hanging out to mutual suckoff pipeline.
Which is, you know, it's very erotically charged.
Oh, it's the fantasy.
It's very erratically charged.
Especially if you've experienced any point in your life where you were closeted about your feelings as a man, you definitely do kind of eroticize this element of being like, oh, no, dude, we're just, yeah, no, I just kind of wanted to see how your cock felt in my hands, just while we're watching the movie.
You know, it's not like a gay thing.
I just thought, wouldn't it be awesome to see how different your big Jack Ritcher cock felt in my hands?
Let's just try it out.
Oh, you get a little hard there, bud, no, it's not gay.
No, no, don't worry about it.
Oh, it's got to give a little slurp.
Just two bros hanging out.
Just two bros hang it a little slurp.
Just two bros hang it a little slip.
Alan, I'm just giving it a little slur.
What's a little slur between friends where it too mamma tam being?
It's fine.
Not a big deal.
It's a bit of time being.
See.
It's a maitumatumatumian.
See, see, see, see, see.
It's one of Ben's favorite genres of video for a reason.
That's the thing.
It's everybody's favorite genre for a reason.
I was thinking of the future, maybe we could move to a C.E style of improv.
Yes and
Yes and Spanish
Do you think
Do you think they're saying that in like
Mexican improv?
In Mexican improv, yeah
In Latin American improv
Oh, we're doing a little C-E
C-E
Itambien
Yeah
C-E also
See it tamien
That's the first thing they teach you
In Latin American Impro
Latin American Impro school
Theo
Did you have a pitch for Alan or
No
You didn't have to
No, no.
I don't know how to get any.
I don't know how to get anyone.
You're nonchalant.
It's cool to be nonchalant these days.
That's what I'm hearing.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know shit.
I don't know what works.
And I'm not going to try.
God, he's so cool.
He's so cool.
I know what I got.
He's shaped his head.
He's become like just really kind of like untouchable.
Like nothing phases him.
He's just kind of existing.
Was it the hair that was holding you back?
I think the hair might have been holding him back.
Okay.
For real, for real.
I mean, I do feel...
Oh, he's got a reverse Samson situation.
Reversemson.
Reversemson.
Yeah.
Noz was going to be able to nozumous this whole time.
Oh, every day I get out a bit.
Oh, drag this, a piece of shit around.
Shave it off.
I don't need a fidget toy anywhere I go.
I can kind of stim with it.
It did feel really nice.
Just giving that bad player a rub.
Oh, it feels so good.
And then you find a scab in there, you go,
oh, God.
That's so nasty, dude.
I don't know if you, the listener, can tell from listening to this recording.
We kind of spent all of our chi on the weekend a little tiny bit.
My cheese is drained.
I'm blowing cheese.
We had a super.
He's coming out watery.
It's like pasture water.
It's like kind of like pasta water.
We did two unbelievably long shows
what felt like within 12 hours of each other,
even if that may not mathematically be the truth.
Tantric podcasting.
Right.
And some people seem to hate it,
including the person that sent us,
they tweeted at us during the second show,
asking us to stop so they could leave.
wrap it up.
I'm so joking, but maybe not joking.
We weren't on our phones.
We're not going to see it via that method.
We were locked in.
We were definitely not going to see it.
We were definitely locked in by that part.
Yeah.
We also, we met a shitload of people, which is very, very nice.
I think I don't want to rank the people that we met.
Highlight for me, maybe the guy that worked on the Lord of the Rings minatures.
I was going to love to hear it.
It's going to love to hear it.
Theo, I don't know if you got to chat to him.
Well, bigotches, miniatures, all sorts.
Biggages, miniatures, yeah.
Theo, I forgot to tell you this.
Middichers? Yeah.
That's right, the in between size.
He, in like two days before the Denethor grape scene that you love so very much,
he crashed, I think it was like a scissor lift through the wall of that set.
which I think might have
I just believe sort of universal vibes
this is my intuition
I'm a very intuitive person
I believe that
we might not have got that same
crazy ass take
if that hadn't happened
it's all connected
yeah anyway that was very nice
we met a shitload of people
that was super lovely
a lot of nice people
some of you were attractive
and I'm not going to say who they were
but they were attractive members of the audience
and that is crazy to me.
That's crazy.
Yeah, that's weird.
We have like a full spectrum of hodies too.
Like normie huddies, alt hoddies, cult hodies.
Goth hodies.
Goth hatties.
Goth baddies.
I mean, the goths old hodies.
Short hodies.
Guys with glasses, baddies.
Itty bitty hotties.
This is not good.
Semi-ethnic hobby hodys.
And it's up to you to decide where you fit in that spectrum.
Yeah, somehow this is better than naming them.
Yeah.
And we should.
be.
I think we got the bug again.
I mean,
not that we really really
really lost it,
but like that was a really
truly lovely experience
and I really want to
fucking do it again.
We have got our eyes set on
Hobart,
but if we are going to do that,
which we want to,
we need you,
the listener,
to do two things.
The first one,
you need to tell us
if you live in Hobart.
We need an email.
Genuinely.
Genuinely.
I lived in Hobart for some time.
I did meet a few listeners,
not that many.
I'm doubtful of our Hobart listenership, but if you live in Hobart and you want us to do a live show, please tell us somehow.
You've got an email say, I live here and this is how many people I'm bringing.
I also need you to start aggressively.
Think of the people in your life that might like it and get it to them.
Think six months.
Think six months.
Push it.
You have time.
You have time to get past that.
Oh, this is a bit weird.
I'm not sure about it.
And then there's the second stage where you're like, okay, maybe that's not your kind of
episode how about this one and then you're like
no no no no like you just you need to listen
to like seven or eight episodes
and then you're going to get it
and you sit and you watch
their face through all of those seven or eight
episodes with a kind of hopeful look
yeah it's next to each other on the couch
where it's like you don't want them to look at their phone
or do anything else and you're like yeah
emotional pressure oh no this is really funny oh wait I was thinking of
another bit it's really good it gets good it gets good
it gets good so yeah an email
saying I live in Hobart
Or Lonsestan.
Or any way, really.
Tashmany.
Anyway, really.
I mean, if you're willing to go to Hobart.
We're not going to Lonsetan.
We're not going to fucking Lonsetan.
It's a beautiful town.
It's beautiful, but we're not going to Lonset.
We're not going to Lundsson.
We're going to Hobart.
Jump on one of those freight trains that go Lonsestan to Hobart.
Kind of do the little...
Hop on the back. Get a bindle.
Get a little bindle.
Get a bindle.
Get a bindle up.
Bindle up.
Get out there.
Get a bindle.
Bindle up for Bunta Vista
Bindle up for Buntarista
Bindle's up
And if you do miss the train
Or if you can't afford a train ticket
Jump on a hand car with one of your friends
Yep
You know
Put both your bindles down on the hand car
And you can just work together
Talk about all your favourite
Buntavista moments
As you pump your way into Hobart
You know?
Bindle down!
Bindle down and pump you way into Hobart for Buntarvist
Bindle up to the train
station, bindle down at the handcart
and then, yeah, you've got to
want to bindle up again when you get to Hobart.
Expressions of interest
to mailbag at pontivist.com
say, I live in Hobart, provide a screenshot
of where your house is on Google Maps
so we know it's true.
Yeah.
Ideally, ideally like...
And I live there, I know. I fucking know.
Satellite and street view if it's possible.
Yeah.
Photo of the inside of the house.
if possible
photo of your feet
photo of the bedroom
you know
photo your feet
photo of the bedroom
photo of the front
and back of your credit card
yep
yeah let us know
but seriously
we really want to
and I don't think
this is a matter of us
you know
wanting to hit
some threshold
of people
I think we really want to do it
regardless
we just want to figure out
like how many people
would come to a show
so that we can
try and book an appropriate
venue. That's all we really want.
And the picture of the feet.
I mean, like, worst, worse, worse up to worse.
Like, the worst case scenario, we get five listeners email us.
We have a partially funded trip to Hobart.
There were, like, 12 friends that we know, like, between Lucy and I.
And then we just, the four of us sit at one of the picnic benches in the Cascade Gardens.
In the bus, in the bus at preachers.
We'll do it in the bus at preachers.
Oh, we'll do it in the bus at preachers.
We'll do it at the bus and preachers.
Like if there's 20 of you, we're doing it in the bus at preachers.
We're just sitting there.
We don't even need fucking mics or anything.
We'll just project.
And we'll make sure Theo's the closest to you, the audience.
But let us know, because we'd really like to do it.
We'll probably do Adelaide at some point.
But really, I feel Hobart is calling to me.
Hobart's calling.
Maybe.
Hobart's calling.
If we're going to go to South Australia, we should go to Handorf.
We're doing it, Handoff.
We'll do it, Handorf.
H.
All of the great H-Cities of Australia.
Tambourine.
Helen's fail.
Yeah.
All of that was just some stuff we were chatting about.
We chat about stuff that we should chat about and stuff we should chat about.
Here comes some stuff we should chat about.
Stuff we should chat about.
Boom to list of stuff to chat about.
Stuff you should chat about.
Yeah, come some more stuff to chat about.
We're chatting about stuff.
I was thinking you're getting like
slutty little um
what are the
um
glasses
natural killer glasses
natural born killers or other
little circle sunglasses
they go on your face yeah
are they are they are a
a
Ponsnoff
do they have
Pons nerve yeah
that's just the ones
yeah
Moldthius
Clips onto your nose
there's no
Morphius sunglasses
Oh shit
All right, Morpheus glasses.
Let me have a look at that.
All right.
I can do that.
You guys were calling me the white morphius on the weekend.
I don't remember calling you the white morphos.
I don't remember late Saturday night that much, so possibly.
I don't remember probably after like 735 on Friday.
I think it's probably about where it stops.
It's where most of the memories finish.
Yeah, Lucy, this is you.
Oh, this is me.
I just thought there was really.
Yeah, okay.
No, this is his new thing, is that he doesn't want to say that he wants one,
but if we do one, he'll sort of get in two seconds before the theme finishes.
Because he had one in mind.
He just had one ready to go, but he doesn't need to have it.
He doesn't need to go.
I was thinking it while the theme play.
It seems desperate.
I'm always kind of like thinking.
It seems desperate.
I am regretful looking at my notes because last night I decided that I wanted to have
stuff we should chat about.
And I was just thinking, we're always bringing like some petty gripes.
you know, lately we're always bringing a whinge to the stuff we should chat,
which is fun, it's good.
It's kind of good to get things out.
We should.
If we're going to talk about bad stuff, we need to go back to lead pipe.
Yeah, true, I agree.
That's the complaining segment.
That's the, I want to destroy something.
Why don't we talk about our glimmers, you know?
Why don't we talk about our little moments of beauty that we have?
Why don't we let our light shine for a bit?
So last night I had dinner at KFC.
Yes.
Okay.
I've had a really exhausting week.
I am not mentally well.
Last night I came to the bar, Ben, you were there.
I came to have one beer and go home before the sumo because I was like,
I have so much to do.
I have so much to do and you all yelled at me.
And the yelling worked, by the fuck.
Why the fuck aren't you staying for the summa and it worked?
And it worked.
It also worked because watching the sumo was so fun.
It's wonderful.
Fujiji, Fujinaika.
I mean, forget about it.
Kutuzakawa.
I couldn't leave.
I couldn't leave.
So I had three beers instead of one.
I had three beers instead of one.
My way home, I was like, there is no food in my house.
I haven't been home for several days.
I'm going to get KFC for dinner.
You felt the call of the bird.
I felt the call of the bird.
You heard the bugle of the colonel.
I heard the bugle of the kernel.
And the KFC near us is like, it's KFC that doesn't have a drive-through.
It's a, it's a KFC where you would eat in.
It's a different vibe.
Like traditional style KFC.
Oh, it's an eating KFC.
It's an eating KFC.
But it's one where you would.
eating. It's not one that you pull over on the side of the highway.
It's nice. It's like
it's like a destination KFC.
It's a destination KFC.
Oh no, no, no.
No.
Plus the reroute of the highway. Oh my friend, no.
Yeah. Sad day for all the
KFC McDonald's, all those businesses along the
Gimby Road there. Oh, the Gimpy Huggrajacks
must be absolutely devastated.
Once they finally bypassed Gimpy
devastated that town. I'm so sorry this is not.
Highweight.
It's highway robbery.
I do need to, I do, I do want to point out for our American listeners.
Yeah, they stole the highway.
KFC in Australia is a different, it has a different cultural milieu about it.
You know, it's different.
It's not, you know, it is bad.
The Mizzenzen is very different.
The Mizzen, it's completely different.
It's a completely different vibe.
And I feel like when you eat in at a KFC, I guess I was just kind of struck by kind of like the, like, the beautiful.
kind of serenity of eating in a KFC because I feel like I'm very rarely doing it.
But when I'm doing it, everyone in there is alone, you know?
The way they should be.
I feel like I'm lost in translation, you know?
Everyone in, no one in there is there with their loved one.
No one in there is having a conversation.
You're in there eating KFC in a really vulnerable moment because you're not sitting
and eating a meal at KFC unless you are feeling particularly vulnerable.
And can I add as a detail here?
You made like, for you to dine in that KFC is kind of insane considering how long to walk to your house is.
Ten minute walk home KFC is no good.
She wanted the romance.
She wanted the kind of, um, that's my point.
The beautiful ache of sitting in the, uh,
I think it is so beautiful that every time you go and eat in a KFC, everyone else in there is alone.
They're usually a guy that's like a tradie.
It's usually men.
usually men alone and I think that there is a beautiful respect amongst other KFC diners
where you don't acknowledge each other, you don't look at each other.
When you're eating the KFC, no one speaks to you.
No one is not look for prospects as it gets near to closing time.
No, no, no, that's you're not.
That's what I'm saying.
You're not.
Oh, no lovers at a KFC.
You can be fundamentally yourself without the expectation of any kind of interaction with others.
And I think that it is so beautiful.
cynical these days, aren't we?
We're so cynical.
You know, what's that painting of the diner?
And it's like...
Nighthawks.
Nighthors, look at that like that.
Beautiful, but we can't see beauty in our own lives.
I am seeing the beauty.
I'm seeing Nighthawks at the Milton KMC.
It sounds to me, Lucy, like you have discovered at this KFC the spirit of the urinal.
Yes.
Yes.
We're all in there.
We're doing our busy.
in it together.
We know that we're in such a vulnerable moment,
but we're not acknowledging each other.
No one's looking at you while you're eating your twister.
You are respecting the sanctity of that moment.
You get any of that weird pickle shit they're doing at the moment?
No, it looks nasty.
It looked fucking gross.
I really wanted to get it.
I saw a bunch of reviews that said it was yucky.
You wouldn't even try just the fried pickles?
Like that's like the cheapest option, right?
Just so you can dip your toe in?
I don't know.
maybe. I've tried the pickle juice and the Pepsi. I didn't love it.
I love pickle stuff and I love Pepsi.
Didn't like it. You are a big pickle.
I got my pickle beer right now. I'm going to open my pickle beer.
Open that pickle beer up.
I think, thank you to the listener, by the way, the listener at the live show who came
last and provided a pickle beer.
Was that Otis?
That was Otis?
From the Discord, I believe, just sort of silently handed over a pickle beer.
which let's be clear
it to me
is the cool way to do it
drunk I'm so sorry
Otis
and then I said
oh my favorite beer
yummy
yeah
yeah
it's like
that was for the boy
yeah
I think you've tapped into something
there Andrew
there is kind of
I think urinals have this
the sort of
together but alone feeling
I think if you've ever been
at an airport
at like one of the crazy hours
because you're in like
an international stopover or whatever
and like
it's you and a bunch of other
people who are seemingly, in my experience, it happens to me when I'm traveling alone,
and it looks like everyone else around me is alone as well, that it's like 3am, all bets are
off, people are lying on the floor, people are going absolutely insane because they've been
awake for like 30 hours. There is a comradeship in it, but it is completely silent.
You will never strike up a conversation in this moment, where it's like you're not going to
judge another human being for being weird at the airport, for doing weird shit. And I feel
like the same is happening at a KFC at 7 p.m.
You know?
At regular dining time.
1 a.m is different.
But if you are in KFC at dinner time, you're respecting the sanctity and the purity of that place.
And it's like you are not, I feel like it must be what it's like to go to like an opium den, you know?
Hey, that's Dave.
And I'm not going to acknowledge it.
I'm not going to say hi to Dave.
I'm not going to talk to Dave.
I'm not going to acknowledge it tomorrow when I see him at work.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's got his own thing going on right now.
You're not going to like brush the silk curtain and be like, yo, what up day.
How's that opium?
How's that opium today?
I guess it's opium a clock.
Glug, glug, glug, glug, glug.
Opium o'clock.
Just kidding.
I'll lightly push back on you, Lucy, and say that I have noticed that maybe it's just the outdoor tables at that specific KFC.
Oh, they're nasty.
Certified Zoom a hangout zone.
I'm seeing groups of like 10 zoomers having KFC together.
Teens love KFC.
What's that about?
What is that about?
Haven't they seen the photos of the chickens?
But they're not there at dinner time.
They're with their loving parents.
They're with their loving parents that cook dinner at dinner time.
Dinner time at KFC is a place for millennials with bad jobs.
I got all the billboards up.
They're like skibbitty chicken now at KFC.
Skibbitty chicken.
It's pretty good actually.
I'm R word for chicken.
Yeah.
Chat is this dinner?
But it says R word.
It says R word.
So like, technically they've not done anything wrong.
But I still, I'm not a huge fan of that one.
And it's crazy they got I Codap to sing the words, I'm R word for chicken.
Not a good campaign.
Written by Charlie XXX.
Well, yeah.
Silently written by Charlie XX.
What a mob.
This is amazing.
Hey, sometimes we talk about stuff from the past
and then we update it with stuff from the present
in a little segment that we like to call
Oh shit, it's an update to an old news story.
Oh shit, it's an update to an old news story.
This is sent in by listener Julius.
Thank you, Julius.
Dear Ponte of Vista, I was recently listening to the back catalog.
All of it?
Nice.
That's a bad idea, man.
No good.
I was up to the bonus episode,
Beautiful Mulf Miracle Life Saving Compilation
and the story about a Texan toddler, Paisley Toten,
who on a visit to Fossil Rim Wildlife Safari
was giraffed up into the air out of the bed of a pickup truck.
Oh, that's right.
You remember that?
Yeah, I remember that.
Up until then, it just felt like Bonta Vista Madlips.
Yeah, we should sell that.
And like most of the little magnets or whatever
would just say, like, come.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's like 90% of them say come.
Giraff, come, and the other ones are like me and and.
Come giraffe, the.
Or you can say it's like the giraffe and come.
I had gotten this slightly mixed up with another one of our iconic giraffe stories.
One of them took them out of the sunroof, right?
I think the episode was called something like the Hyundai I-30 giraffe killer, I think maybe, which is the giraffe.
That's what I remember.
Smashed its head through the sunroof of the car.
But this is a giraffe just kind of grabbed a toddler and then lifted it up a bit.
Julius continues here.
I don't usually look up your stories, but I was shocked by the idea that visitors are allowed to drive around
unaccompanied by staff and see endangered animals.
So I looked up fossil rim.
The very first news story on the website right now is an announcement of the birth of two giraffes
named pretzel and paisley.
Okay.
The story claims that the staff named the animals by ballot,
but I can't help but think that this is vulgar SEO crisis mitigation.
The suits at Fossil Rim want their new giraffe story
to eclipse the toddler endangerment story on Google.
How does the giraffe feel about this?
So what Julius is putting forth is the idea that because the name of the toddler
was also Paisley and one of the new giraffes is called Paisley,
that now if you Google Paisley, giraffe, fossil rim, you get an adorable baby giraffe picture
instead of the giraffe toddler lifting incident.
Who is controlling is?
I think they're keeping the thing that we know about.
I think they're keeping the thing that we know, but people might not know about it now.
They're keeping the thing we know about from people who know not yet what we know.
Who's pulling the strings?
Who's pulling the strings?
Fossil rib.
I think you guys are asking a lot of questions that are answered sort of.
And are the strings needing to be quite short?
Because they're like not a long way to the giraffe.
Because giraffe's very tall.
I guess so.
Also, KWTX shows two different camera angles of the toddler being lifted.
She gets like a foot into the air.
That's nothing.
A toddler can fall way further than a foot into the bed of a pickup truck and be fine.
True.
I agree, probably, in the robustness of a toddler.
I wouldn't want to roll the dice on it.
Yeah.
I think you do it with your own kid, you know?
Yeah.
Don't roll the dice on lifting another person's toddler via giraffe over the bed of a pickup truck.
Don't lift another person's toddler via giraffe over.
What if it's your toddler?
If you want to roll the dice taking your toddler out there, kind of like, yeah, one in six,
the toddler dies of like internal injuries.
But like, otherwise they might get a cool perk out.
of it.
Oh, like a little icon comes up in the top right, giraffe survivor.
You now get a charisma bonus with giraffes.
Minus 20 stress.
I do think it's kind of sinister to name one of the baby giraffes at your like open
planes safari type deal after a toddler had endangered.
It is somewhat sinister, yeah.
Doesn't that almost feel like gloating?
a little bit.
Like a little bit.
Very strange.
Love, Julius.
Wow, that's quite strong.
Thank you.
I guess we love you too.
Yeah.
There's no guessing about it for me, brother.
Well, you feel everything with your whole heart and your whole person.
Julius, I love you and I'm in love with you.
Oh.
Wow.
You know?
Wow.
That's going to change things in your family life.
Unless you have a different arrangement that I don't know about.
If anybody finds out.
But if we're careful.
Yeah.
If we're careful, Julius, you, me and several thousand listeners can keep this under our hands.
That's a concept, isn't it?
Like, if you want something really badly, but you know that it's going to cause emotional distress to other loved ones in your life, keep it a secret.
Keep it a secret.
Yeah, don't tell them.
Bottling it up.
You know what you always hear about?
Cover your tracks.
Is relationships being ended by cheating that was.
discovered.
You know what we're not talking about at all is relationships that were
better.
Because the cheating was never discovered.
Yes.
It's time Christa say it.
I'm not even talking like.
You know there's like that sort of.
Yes.
Or kind of the opposite of survivorship bias, I think.
It's the opposite of the red dots on the plane.
It's the white bits of the plane, not the red dots.
You know, like I'm not.
even thinking like, you know, there's that sort of purported cultural difference with French people.
At least there was, you know, 30, 40 years ago where it's just sort of like you just,
the affairs happen, you just don't talk about them.
It's kind of, you just sort of accepted.
You just roll with it.
I'm talking, no, culturally, not acceptable.
Your upsec is super tight.
You have a really fulfilling dalliance that would devastate your partner if they ever found out about it.
But they don't.
So it's like awesome.
Everybody wins.
That's why they invented that phrase,
No harm, no foul.
No harm, no foul.
Ask no questions.
That's what that means.
Just like lock down your up sick.
Like how hard can it be?
Don't take your phone with you on the dalliances.
Come up with really robust excuses.
Maybe if you've got a friend who's also in a dalliance,
you be each other's alibis.
Sort of like when teens are like,
oh, I'm sleeping over at this friend's house.
But the other teen has said,
I'm sleeping over at that and you spend the whole night
in the skate park smoking bombs.
And like you're both saying that
Because you and Dave are having an affair
You and Dave are sucking each other off
And you're like oh I'm just at Dave's place
Because Dave's wife
It's the perfect excuse
And then Dave has his wife
I'm just staying over at Jeremy's place
Yeah
We're just having a guy sleepover
We're just having a guy hangs
Just Jeremy and Dave
Hey Hollywood
Why don't we have more
Like married
Dude guy sleepovers
Where you're like
I'm gonna go
stay at Jeremy's house tonight.
We're going to, like, shoot a shit,
play some call of Judy, chop it up,
few hynicans, you know, a few brusky.
Domino's pizza.
Domino's pizza stuff.
We just don't want the ladies around, you know.
Babe, Reacher's season four just dropped.
We're going to watch it together,
and we're just going, every time he takes his shirt off,
we'll have another drink.
Yep.
Nothing's us.
Yeah, Dave and I just play this game
where every time Reacher takes his shirt off,
we have another drink.
He actually takes a shirt off like once an episode.
And if you get to the bottom of your bottle, you'll have a kiss.
Yeah.
Andrew, you've probably had, like, you have to kiss.
You're the type of, you love to host.
I feel like a lot of your personal value system come from being like a consummate host,
cooking for people providing cool drinks, ambience, mood.
I bet you're offering people, hey, if you guys want to come out here and then stay the night,
probably.
You've probably done a few.
You wouldn't call it a sleep over because you're,
in your 40s, but you're probably doing...
You wouldn't say that word.
Doing that.
We have a friend who has a standing weekend sleepover with us, yes?
That's awesome.
I love that so much.
Standing weekend sleep over.
Standing weekend sleep over for our friend.
I would find that very uncomfortable.
It's a sleep standing.
That's good stuff.
Brother, you've got to get yourself back into the mindset of the giraffe.
Lock your knees.
Shake a toddler.
I don't think they lie all the way down, do they?
Come on.
Do they get on their fetlocks?
I think so. Horses sleep standing up.
Surely it's way further down to the ground for a giraffe than a horse.
I think they just find out,
they've got to find a really big rock that they can kind of slide over.
Oh, perfectly rest under their belly.
They just sort of let it all flop.
Yeah, that's good stuff.
Feet just off of the ground.
Oh, my God.
It's a fucking nightmare.
Adult giraffe sleep standing up in short bursts of a few minutes,
totaling about 30 minutes to two hours of sleep.
day. Oh no, that's what happened. I want to kill myself. Die another day.
That makes me feel crazy. Wow. Yeah, that's not good. Oh, they're all curled up. I'm looking
it curled up giraffes. But yeah, to answer your question, we absolutely invite people to
stay, you know, in the spare room and everything, if that's easier for them. And honestly,
sometimes it's a situation where you just got to make sure that you're not making it.
it sound swingerish.
That's tough.
Because we are not swingers.
Especially at your age.
It's like your prime swinger age.
We're all in prime swinger age.
You're looking for some new excitement.
You're looking for new experiences.
My age, the way I look, the kind of house I live in.
The music that you listen to, the way you dress.
The dinner party style vibe that you're presenting.
The conversation pit.
My wife's wearing more caftans than ever, you know.
Nothing but caftads.
I'm only wearing a caftan.
I'm only wearing 25 caftads.
No sex.
No sex.
Can I get you another five cocktails?
Get you another boulevardier, a jumble one.
Anyone up for a game of sex scrabble?
Every time you use the letter E, you've got to fuck my wife.
I'd like to buy a vowel.
E.
Hey, you can just have sleepovers with your adult friends
and it's not necessarily a swinger thing.
That's something of a PSA.
We're talking about PSAs in the PSA per segment.
Soriasis makes your skin edge.
PSA! PSA! PSA!
Silocybin makes you trip.
PSA!
PSA!
Pseudonym is a fake name
PSA, PSA, PSA,

PSA, PSA, PSA
It's time for the PSA
The Segman, which is where we say
Important things, that's a PSA

The Segment,

This is set into us by listener Declan.
There's no trick to this one.
This is just a genuine PSA for the people of Sydney's inner west
or people in Sydney willing to travel a little bit further.
A place called Your Car Tyron Auto, which is in Marrickville.
My car?
Yeah.
Your car.
That's right.
Not to be confused with a place nearby.
And you go, hey, your car.
That's your car.
There is a place nearby called my car as well, which is a,
I bet there's a whole lot of fucking who's on first type shit happening there.
Oh, no, no, no, you're meant to be in my car, not your car.
This is your car.
This is my car.
No, no, no, no.
Your car is in my car.
That's good stuff.
That's good stuff.
Yes.
It's so confusing as well.
When I park, I get out, I lock the doors, I walk into the place and they say,
welcome to your car.
I look at, what?
I just left my car.
That's right.
You're at your car.
I've been temporarily displaced.
Fuck, we should have done this at the start.
That could have been 60 minutes.
60 minutes.
Oh, you left your car.
It's at my car.
No, but it's my car.
Why is my car in your car?
It's your car.
Who's in car?
This is like an auto shop of some kind that opened in Marrickville back in May
but is having a launch event on September 26th.
Now, I don't know if they're launching a new service or if they've just gotten like they've taken ages to get around to launching the thing itself.
I don't fucking know.
I've got no idea.
The important thing is this event will feature free pizza.
Fuck yeah.
Awesome.
Okay.
They'll have beers on from Grifter.
Have a couple of bigsurs.
You fucking kidding me?
A couple of old panthers.
Come on.
A couple of pink galas.
Oh, a pink galas.
No, we're talking.
A little pinka la at your car.
There will be a couple of like the very B or C tier members of like fat pizza,
the guys from fat pizza, but like low, low in the list.
Maybe a secondary member of fat pizza.
Do you think if you're a listener, you get a W-word pass?
I think that's between you and your grandparents,
whether or not you have the W-W-W-Past.
Don't-t-t-tell-tell situation.
If you have to ask, you don't have it.
You don't have it, yeah.
But the important thing is that between 2pm and 6pm,
there will be a DJ set from Nick Skits.
Yes.
Oh, shit.
What a freebie.
A big sir.
Nick Skits looks like right now.
He looks good.
He is looking fucking great, actually.
He's looking fantastic.
You have four hours of a mixed grab bag.
of a mixed grab bag of skits mix type shit.
You're drinking delicious, fresh grifter pale, free pizza, skits mix?
That's just a great fucking afternoon out.
And what's the event again?
It's a launch for your car.
What's the purpose of the event?
A launch for your car?
That's right.
It's a launch for my car.
Not my car.
No, no, no.
Your car.
They're launching my car.
They're launching my car.
car.
They've got a treboshae big enough for that.
Maybe not for Theo's case, but if you live in like the inner suburbs,
your local councillors, especially the Greens are putting on stuff,
although actually now that LNP are trying really aggressively in my area,
well they'll be like, it's a fun community, hang out in the park.
And it'll be like they're screening Zootopia 3.
And there's like free soup.
And they're like, we're going to, everyone's got to come down.
That's not going to work.
What you need is grifter beers.
free pizza and Nick Skits
that sounds awesome
you're just standing around in like a car dealership
or whatever in a mechanics garage
watching Nick Skits and it's a free event
get on down there and then afterwards
you just go to Gifter and kick on
isn't that like a perfect fucking afternoon
go to Batch? It's a dream afternoon
no joke
that sounds like a really good time
It just sounds like a good time
this sounds nice hey if you lived near there
and you didn't go
that all must be a crime.
We talk about crimes in Crime Watch.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
You're not going to get away with that one.
What do you mean?
What are you talking about?
I just want to...
Andrew Posted a picture of Nick Skits in our chat.
Yeah.
Ben, 6.51 p.m.
Look at those arms, dude.
Now imagine he's blasting your pussy finger style.
Mm-hmm.
Did you want clarification on that?
It's really important that we hold each other accountable.
I think we should hold each other accountable.
And I just wanted to, I wanted you to elaborate.
I wanted you mean by blasting your pussy finger style.
Oh, Lucy, thank you so much for asking.
So you notice how he's got like quite nice biceps and really kind of nice knotted forearms.
Yeah, quite toned, a bit of a tan.
He was doing a sort of like a high school style two finger finger blast at an incredibly high speed.
And yeah, you're squirting.
This is from KLFY, Louisiana.
I just checked and I am squirting.
That's crazy.
Wait a fucking second.
Hold on.
I'm squirting.
Look to your left.
Look to your right.
Look down.
Wait just a second.
If you're so, you're the one who's squirting.
Sorry, Ben, you're not being hoisted on your own patada or anything, aren't you?
I think what I said was, I just told you to imagine it.
foul.
I'm not being,
he has beautiful arms.
I thought,
I have a little arms
and I'm imagining
that he's blasting my pussy
fingers.
I was having a nice time
imagining him blasting my pussy.
I'm going to blast
your pussy finger style.
Yeah.
Two finger,
finger blasts for me
Nick Skits
with my big
nodded stevedore arms.
Yeah.
Okay.
My deft DJ fingers.
Yes.
If he could scratch a record
like he's not doing fine.
DJing. Let's cut the shit.
Wic-Wicker.
It's all computers these days.
You've said Wicca Wicca so many times in the last week.
Probably more than anyone else has made that noise.
I think so.
Anyway, he's gone on your pussy and he's just clicking it like it's a mouse
because he's on the freaking computer, you know?
Yep.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yep.
He's basically just pressing play on your pussy
because that's what it's like to be a digital DJ.
Baby, you're doing Ableton Live down there?
Are you doing Ableton Light on my pussy?
You can do a lot with Ableton Light.
You don't need the full package.
I'm going to be honest, babe, I could tell you didn't pay for the full license.
Yeah.
I can tell you're not working with Ableton Sweet.
It's fine.
It was fine.
That's all.
It's just you're not going Ableton Max on my pussy.
Yeah.
Yes.
Homer man
tried to bring a live fawn home
from Texas in his car
Do
Oh
Oh
Fuck
That really got me
I just want to sit
With that for a little bit
You know a lot of podcasts
aren't willing to have dead air
But I think sometimes just
Oh
Homer
Trying to bring a live fawn home from Texas.
Did he tell Marge about it?
Do.
Oh, and you know next week,
fawn's not even going to be there anymore.
It's just going to be back to normal.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I haven't seen in a while.
Haven't seen in a while.
Yeah.
A homer man was cited for allegedly trying to bring home a live fawn from Texas,
authority said.
C. Senac, 52, was cited for illegally importing a live
surveyed and violating interstate commerce regulations.
They got triple C?
They're bringing down triple C for the server crime?
I got the triple C.
Yeah.
I don't know if I'm naive.
But I thought there would have been a law on the books that's like, hey, don't grab a deer from nature and put it in your car.
But it's about importing an interstate commerce is where this gets tripped up.
That's the issue.
You didn't pay the tariffs, the interstate taxes on.
moving this deer over state lines.
Deer don't give a fuck about state lines.
Yeah.
They can't see it.
Deer don't give a fuck about state lines.
That is so true.
Neither should you.
The city and the city, dude.
Think about it.
Neither should you.
The servant and the servant.
Louisiana state police troopers pulled Sanak over September 2nd for speeding on I-49 near Lecompte.
Officials said,
during the traffic stop, the trooper allegedly saw a live spotted for an insider's
vehicle and contacted Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Sitting up in the front seat looking exactly like a fucking prince.
Prince Andrew?
Yeah, yeah, he's doing that.
It's half dead pito look, you know?
Yeah, he's doing the half dead pito face.
That is, two things about this I really love, that it wasn't because a car drove past and
they saw a deer in it.
It was unrelated and allegedly saw a live spotted fawn.
Wonderful.
The LDWF seized the fawn and turned it over to a state biologist.
Legally importing a live-servered and violating interstate commerce regulations brings up to a fine of $950 and 120 days in jail.
Now, I was like, this man has a very interesting name, right?
It's kind of distinctive.
Maybe I'll Google it and I'll see what comes up.
That's sort of the beautiful, curious mind that I have.
sort of follow the digital trail.
Yes.
See how far the rabbit hole goes.
That's right.
Or the deer hole.
Yeah.
He's following the string all the way up to the draft.
That's right.
Yeah.
So this is what I found out about him, which is very interesting.
And I'm pretty sure it's him because 1974.
This guy is 52 years old.
He's from Homer, Louisiana.
This is from tugboat information.com.
built in 1974 by Maine Ironworks,
incorporated of Homer, Louisiana,
as the Cullen Sanak for the Sanak Toeing Company of Homer, Louisiana,
powered by two Cummins KT-19 M2 diesel engines.
She's a twin-screw square bow pushboat
for a rated 1,360 horsepower.
Same guy?
Same day to birth from the same town.
Same day to birth.
So this is the guy.
Same town.
This is the guy.
A twin screw.
He's a twin screw square bow pushboat
rated for 1,360 horsepower.
Isn't that?
Is that pretty exciting?
He's got water to get to.
I was kind of picturing like a regular guy,
but it turns out he's actually...
Joe Schmoe sort of maybe
maybe it might be kind of balding,
three hairs on top of his head.
Yeah, white polish and blue jeans.
Yeah.
A black business shoes kind of.
It's really fucked up.
It's really really.
fucked up to think about how
some guys, they just kind of have
it all, but it's not enough.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you have a beautiful
twin diesel
tugboat and you think
no, I got to have a deer too.
No, I mean, he is.
He is the tugboat. The tugboat was
made. The tugboat is
the Cullinac. Made in 1974.
Made in 1974. He is, it's
a sort of mannimal situation.
Wow. It's a
man boat, mung boat.
mug boat
man
yeah
yeah
yeah
how about
tug bloke
yep
it's kind of a tug bloke
situation
and
don't mind if I do
on our hands
sometimes
I tug bloke into my mouth
it depends what's going on

this is a baffling thing

Thank you, Vanessa.
Hi, MXVista.
That's nice.
That's respectful.
Yeah.
That's good.
I like that.
Makes sense.
I came across this while idly reading the internet a couple moments ago.
this is the equivalent of like
I was pouring over tomes
of forgotten law in my study
I was reading the internet
a couple moments ago
where'd you start on the internet
I was simply idly perusing the internet
I was down in the basement of the library
going through their microfilm
oh yeah
I was in the base for the library
sitting at their microfish desk
but scrolling on my phone
hitting a random item of Wikipedia
microfeisher
Have you microfished?
I have microfished.
I hate dropping law because everyone's like, I don't know anything about you.
Yes, you don't know anything about me.
I used to do.
We know so much of the way.
We know a freakish about you at this stage.
Research assistants for an economics professor.
So I did a lot of microfish research at the University of Hawaii to try to, you know, help out with that research.
It's really fun.
It's really fun to do.
It's very tactile.
It's very tactile.
It's very tactile.
Like a machine's like a machine.
No, and no one else is in there.
No one else is using the micro-fiche.
It's a beautiful little peaceful activity.
I love what I'm watching a movie and like Clarice Staling is there in there,
like reading old newspapers, you know, and like scanning around.
Love that shit.
Some of my favorite scenes from a movie is someone just sort of twiddling the knobs on a machine
and information is revealed.
Oh!
They gasp and then they stand out and they stand up and they run out of the room without saying anything.
and then the camera pans over
and it's got a photo there
and a name and address
and it says,
Peterfile.
Yep.
She's like,
oh my God,
the killer was a paedophile.
My car?
The killer was a paedophile.
That's coming to you with this fall.
And now you're watching a bloody movie
and it just goes,
whoop,
and some text messages pop up on the fucking screen.
Oh, yeah.
And I say,
I'm out,
I'm putting on a movie from 1978,
fuck this.
Wouldn't have their phone on vibrate.
It's just going to be like, whoop, whoop, who fucking bullshit, stupid.
Just like pissing off everybody in your life.
When you're watching a movie and a 24-year-old is typing a message and goes,
tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.
No, they're not going to have the haptics on.
Respect your audience.
Who likes that?
Hey, Hollywood.
Who likes the sound?
Hey, Hollywood.
Hey, Hollywood.
Who wants to hear sound.
Who does sound?
Who does sound?
Like, the very, the minor times when I will put my phone on loud.
because I'm expecting a phone call.
And it's like, because I don't have like special settings.
It's like the haptics are on.
I'm like, who actually wants this?
Who wants to hear the little bloop, blu, blop, when you're texting.
Fucked up.
They should do that kind of story, like visual audio storytelling, but for like a boomer.
So, you know, something's happening and they, and their phones ringing and they just don't
realize and they just keep going.
And like the phone's got like a picture and picture in the bottom right hand corner in the
bottom of like their bag.
and it's just calling.
Is that me?
Is that you?
Is that me?
You hear that?
Hang on.
And they're like trying to find their phone.
Like they don't know where it is at any point in their life.
And then it rings out.
And they killed their child because they couldn't get to their phone quickly enough.
Yeah.
Andy was a pedophile.
Andy was a pedophile too.
The child.
Can we just backtrack a little bit there actually?
The band from the 90s?
Lost profits?
Visual audio storytelling
You guys remember VAST
Visual audio sensory theater
They did touch
You remember touched by VAST
Lost profits are definitely from the 2000s
By the way Andrew
But you know
Yeah I wouldn't know
You guys know VAST
He mixed sort of alternative rock
With sort of world music
There's a really slow motion video
Where he's like running through the train station
Trying to stop her from killing herself in the bathtub
Vast it was one guy
He's like John someone
Vast
One guy
he was vast.
You guys don't remember.
He was actually kind of a large guy.
Alan Richardson.
You guys don't remember Vast?
Vianodian sensory theater, vast.
I think he did like two albums.
They're really dog shit.
They're like so cheesy.
But when I first heard them, I thought they were amazing.
This is quite a long email, actually.
Since it's a biology paper from half a decade ago,
I suppose this is more the Theophiles Fair,
but I don't think there's 45 minutes of juice here, unfortunately.
Given the typical structure of a scientific paper
does not generally lend itself well,
organically emergent punchlines, I will attach the link at the very bottom and advise whichever
wonderful host is reading this email to not open it in their browser yet, since the title of the paper
gives away the best part. The paper concerns a plant with a curious characteristic,
Bochila trifoli, trifoli lada, which is described as having been discovered recently in the
jungles of Chile by Kerasco Ura and Giannoli, who you have to assume was navigating the jungle by
bouncing on the animal's heads and shouting
wha-hoo and yahee!
I'm kind of imagining that by default.
Yes.
Thank you for leading it to our prejudices.
This plant is apparently capable
of complex leaf mimicry.
It attaches to a host and for whatever reason
approximates its quotes, shapes,
colors, leaf orientations, petio lengths
and vain conspicuousness
and patterns.
Lucy, I remember you telling me you like a little bit of
vain conspicuousness.
Hey man, mind if I mirror your vein
conspicuousness.
I'm going to go have a sleep over at Dave's.
We're going to mirror each other's vein conspicuousness.
We're not gay.
We're just mirroring each other's vein conspicuousness.
I don't know how to be natural with my vein conspicuousness,
so I've been masking for all my life.
Just pause this episode of Reach up for a second.
Where else do you think our veins look the same?
Yeah.
Let's figure this out.
Let's compare veins on our forearms
Well, that's crazy.
We have the same vein on our forearm, dude.
I wonder where else they're the same.
Maybe we got the same vein on our upper thighs.
And while we're there,
Carasco, Ura and Giannoli,
were apparently too busy eating
non as spicy meatballs to come up with a plausible explanation
for why it does this.
Get them.
I know that we talk like this.
I'm not sure if you can talk like this.
It feels a little aggressive coming from
someone else. I'm not sure
why we can talk like that. I don't know.
We haven't earned that. I'm not Italian.
No, no, this is Italian.
Lucy doesn't have an ethnicity, so we'll
never know. And you're definitely not Italian.
That's right. I've got olive skin. I don't
sunburn. I can say the W word.
Their
report is described ominously as
quote, unexplainable and mysterious.
They did, however, argue that this mimicry
may be the result of some sort of chemical
signal transferred between the two plants.
or alternatively and disturbingly,
quote, horizontal gene transfer mediated perhaps via airborne microbes.
Hey, bro, why don't we do a horizontal gene transfer?
Yes, dude.
Brotherhood of the traveling pits.
Oh, I thought you were talking about cum.
Yeah.
What do it look like if we were wearing each other's jeans?
Come on, pop yours up.
Isn't that be great?
It's so crazy.
we have such different dick sizes, but the genes fit perfect on both of us.
This is the worst podcast.
Is that what guys talk about?
That's mostly what I did in my high school years.
They did, however, argue that this mimicry, oh no, said that.
It sounds like something from a movie where some lab animals get infected with
escaped experimental DNA and turn into a horrifying rampaging mutant.
Yes.
Not an actual description of a plausible biological system is scientific paper.
The authors of this.
paper, however, have a different idea
and they tested it by setting up a
simple experiment. Yes, dude.
Science. Yes.
Hypothesis.
Experiment. Experiment.
Analysis.
Conclusion.
P value.
The network layer. Systems layer.
Placebo.
Control group. Yeah.
Yes.
Yes.
Students T-test.
They planted four bee trifoliata plants in pots
such that they would wind around artificial host plants
They placed two shelves to trisect the height of the plants
Such that the plastic leaves of the artificial plant
Would be completely occluded to the leaves
Of the bee trifoliata that grew in the bottom section
So you guys understand what's happening here
They're letting bee trifoliata grow around a fake plant
Like a fake plant you'd buy for
from your IKEA or your spotlight or your what have yous.
And then they've split it into thirds,
having a shelf at the third point and the two third point
so that the bottom section cannot see the actual leaves
of the artificial plant, right?
Yep.
And make sense?
So they think the plant has eyes and it's copying?
Well, we won't work out.
Well.
Well.
Well, well, well.
What the research has found was that the leaves in the control
that was not in view of any of the artificial leaves
were unchanged from the normal
and that the leaves that were in view of the plastic leaves
had attempted to mimic them.
God, that rules.
This is like, this is like E&M Bank's shit, right?
Like these plants, you're going to find just a planet
40,000 years from now,
and it's just completely covered with these plants
and they're just mimicking each other now.
Yes.
And that's all that's left.
Isn't that what we're doing?
Is that not what we as human beings are doing, you know?
You put it in your house.
You get home, it's mimicking your wife.
You start kissing it, right?
Like you start kind of like kissing it and like touching it and stuff, right?
I was going to say like try, forget about the leaves.
Get it to mimic some other stuff.
Put it on a dildo, you know?
Yep.
Yeah.
That was my first thought as well.
Put a lot of chicken leaves.
The first thing I thought about.
Show it $50.
Show at $50.
It's actually kind of a jojo episode about that, but it's not important.
Oh, shut up.
They consistently had measurably different shapes and vein patterns and such,
and over time became substantially larger than the control leaves.
Yeah, they generally do.
They generally do.
From this result, the research has reached the incredibly fucked
conclusion that the only plausible explanation is that the leaves can observe their surroundings
visually.
The purpose of the middle section, I have to assume, was to make sure that any difference
between leaves wasn't just because the shelf was also blocking some of the sun's light.
That makes sense.
So you've got bottom where it can't be seen and there's no sunlight, middle where they can
be seen and there's no sunlight, top where they can be seen and there is sunlight.
Makes sense.
What a wonderful experiment with fucked implications.
Terrifying.
Because you would think
If it was some response
from the plant as a whole
It would happen to the bottom leaves as well
But the leaves are acting autonomously
And they can
They're looking
That's a scary movie
The leaves are looking
The leaves are looking
The leaves are looking
The leaves have eyes
Don't
I'd rather they didn't
Yep
Do me favour
Hey leaves
Knock that off
Hey Hollywood
I don't want to leave to be looking
Don't let Lee's look
I had one in my office
And it grew into like a hunched over
Kind of jacking off shape
Sort of just like a horrible look at like hunched over guy
Was it a freaking mirror
Yeah
That's a great point
Are you work in that office?
Apparently all the way back in 1905
Got Leib Harbalant
theorize that plants may be able
to develop Ocelli,
outer cells in the plant that would form themselves
to lens shapes, and this
would allow the plant to process visual
stimuli. Christ.
In my view, this raises the troubling
possibility that this particular plant
is only unique in that it exhibits
behaviors that allow us to
experimentally confirm that it can see,
and that in fact,
all plants are constantly watching
and judging us, that your house
plants have been watching you,
Jacket's silly style to feed stuff on deviant art
and have read all of your embarrassing diary entries
that you are a targeted individual
being gangstalked by the Lorax
from the classic kids' tale by Dr. Zeus, the Lorax.
Thank you for clarifying who the Lorax is.
I've been working on that assumption.
Yep.
This whole time.
Jack off like plants are watching.
I don't like having our riffs kind of like pre-assumed.
I mean, this is our material.
The stuff that we would have said.
And I don't like hearing that.
I don't like hearing that from somebody else.
Oh, are we that imitable?
This is the mimicry.
This is the mimicry.
This is the mimicry.
Did a plant write this, you know?
Listeners have ears.
No.
The plants can email.
Yeah, you guys ever feel like someone's listening to you?
Yeah, someone's listening in.
Thanks for the biweekly fit of uncontrollable manic laughter, Vanessa.
So once every two weeks?
No.
Once every two weeks.
Vanessa, thank you.
Vanessa, thank you for a wonderfully crafted email.
Don't jack our stees.
Don't blow up our spot, all right?
We want dry...
Don't say the Italian stuff that we're saying.
Informational content.
And then we'll add the jokes that you can already anticipate
because you've listened to enough of this podcast.
Thanks very much.
We'll add the spice.
paprika.
A second one.
Just paprika.
Anything else a little much.
Just paprika.
Yeah, a bit strong for me.
Hey, this was definitely an episode of the podcast, Bonta Vista.
Thank you so much for joining us and thank you again to everyone that came out to Melbourne.
It was a whirlwind of lovely people.
Oh, it was the best. It was wonderful.
Very fun.
A warm audience. Very warm and friendly audience.
Only a couple of people looked visibly pissed off during the show.
Only a few, but everyone else, very easy on the eyes.
Very easy on the eyes.
Don't forget if you're from Hobart,
are incepting your friends.
Let us know how many people you're bringing with you.
We're very keen to do it while we still think these are more fun than they are exhausting
to do.
Get us while we're still like hot.
Get us while we're still in the zone.
There's a limited time.
We're still.
The iron is hot.
Hey, get us while we're hot.
Get us while we're hot.
Our dolphins are flowing.
A little bit of blood pumped into the key areas.
We will talk to you.
We're sleepy.
