Welcome back to Boosy Bookgasms. I'm Lynn. I'm Jen. I'm Ken. And today we are going to be reviewing praise by Sarah Kate. I think that's how you pronounce her last name. We have lots of thoughts. But before we get into it, what are we drinking?

I think it would be appropriate to have the good girl, which is a yummy cocktail with some vodka, some grenadine, and some lemon lime soda. Just mix it all together, stir and enjoy. This feels like an adult Shirley Temple. Good girl. It is a little bit like an adult Shirley Temple. But, you know, vodka. It's vodka, which is your power drink. We start out with our main male character, Emerson Grant. He's at a bar with his best friends. They work together, Garrett and Hunter and Maggie. They meet every Thursday night at this bar. They kind of don't like their jobs. They use it as like event session. But it opens with Emerson talking to them about this terrible date that he had just had. He was screwing this girl and told her to suck my cock like a good little girl.

And she stood up and punched him in the face. So she obviously did not like that. Rude, demeaning way in which he talked to her. So he's venting about this to his friend. friends and they're kind of roasting them pretty hard. But the conversation basically gets to, how come I just can't find people with the same kinks? Wouldn't it be easier if they could just do a dating service that matched you based on your kink? And they started joking about it. How it would be fun if they got together and built a business. And the next day, as fate would have it, they all got

laid off from the company. And within 24 hours, they have an entire business plan to launch a kinky dating site. And they call it Salacious Players Club. This is a series of interconnected at standalones and every prologue starts the same is what I've heard. Oh, that is always this. They always talk about like the before. That's it. That's a lot of view. Perspective. And then they roll into where they are now. Oh, that's so cute. Oh, that's fun. I will absolutely read these, but we'll get into it. Read the next ones. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. So Emerson is the CEO of the Salacious Players Club company that they start. Garrett handles client relations. He basically tries to hook people up with their kinky sex buddies. Hunter works with the developers and then Maggie,

they say, manages them all. They make it all work and she makes them work. We fast forward seven years. The website's thriving. They're doing great stuff and they're about to open their first physical location. Emerson is in his home office and he is really struggling with finding a submissive that works for him and he kicks out this woman. She's too adoring. She's vying for his attention. That's sort of not the kink that he likes. Well, she's a brat, right? She's being. Braddy. Yeah. And so he basically fires her and calls Garrett, the partner and client relations guy, and says, you know what, I need to take a break. Garrett's like annoyed because he's like, stop firing these women. Okay. So I just want to understand what he was going for. He wants a woman to kneel by his side while he works.

And he can pet her head when he feels like it. But really, she's just kneeling there until he tells her to do something else. And she was like, I want more attention from you. And he was like, until I tell you, no. The praise kink is about submission. It's about wanting to do what I want you to do and enjoying it. That's exactly what it is. I tell you to do something. You do it.

You like it. And then I pat you on the head and say, good job. And then you do it. It's a submissive thing. You can do it to get the praise, right? So you may not like it, but you do it because you want him to appreciate you. You're waiting for the. I appreciate.

Appreciation. Yeah. But that wasn't his kink. His kink is dominant. Well, his kink is the dominant version. He wants to give them praise, but they need to earn it. Yeah. So meanwhile, in parallel, we are introduced to our main female characters, Charlie.

Her name is Charlotte. She goes by Charlie. And she is basically just broken up with Bow Grant. So Emerson's son. And they have moved in together. and three months later, Charlie catches Bo cheating. And she's like, the first time I caught him. He probably was cheating on me the whole time.

And he's kind of an immature guy. He's totally a douchebag. He thinks he's hot shit and he is certainly not. And she's there. Her sister's in the car with her. And she's fighting with him as he's moving into his new place because she wants the security deposit back. And they had like put $2,000 down. They basically sent the check to Emerson, Boe's dad, because Emerson co-signed on the apartment.

So Boe's being a dick and like, if you want the money, go fucking ask my dad for. it. And she's like, it's your dad. Go get my money. I need my money. And he's like, I don't talk to that douchbag anymore. No, you have to go. So she arrives at Emerson's house. He's super wealthy. She's kind of pissed that like this guy lives in this wealthy house. She thinks the Bose been holding out on her. But she just expects to go in, ask for the money and be done. Well, Emerson's just fired the submissive. She walks in, the housekeeper thinks she's the next submissive. So lets her into the office. And she's there. And basically Emerson mistakes her for a submissive that Garrett probably sent to him. And he basically says, you need to kneel. And she is like very confused, but she does it. She just says, okay. Something just felt right. I'm just hurting inside. Says no one ever because you don't understand what's happening.

Totally. You know what? This man is telling me to kneel and I feel like I should do it. I should do it. She totally do that. Obviously, she was feeling conflicted, but she still did it, which is weird. And he called her a good girl. And she really liked that. She's stunned, but she was weirdly drawn to it. Anyway, throughout this, she's obviously not playing the part correctly. And she's very acting strange. And Emerson is realizing, is she not here for this? And he's like, why are you here? And she's like, I just need my money from Bow and I's apartment. And he's like freaking out. He's totally mortified. She's shocked and he says, get up, get up, get up. Like, what are you doing here? So she asks for the money. He says, yes, I will give you this money. But can you please promise me not to tell Bo I did that?

And she says, okay. And then she takes two steps and thinks, actually, I really need some money and this guy's loaded. I have an opportunity. Maybe I can play my luck. Yeah, what's it worth to you? So she attempts to blackmail him and he's like, how much is it going to take me to like to do this? And she's like, oh, well, I need to buy my sister concert tickets. They cost $250.

So you can just give me $250 and I'll tell your son. She said $250 and he was like, $200. Like, what? You're blackmailing me for $250. Totally. So she's so adorable and cute and innocent about it. So he writes her a check and hands it to her and she just takes the check and runs and gets in her car and turns it over and realizes he gave her $5,000.

And on the check, he's written SPC and a phone number. And she has no idea what SPC stands for. But now she's incredibly curious. She's been looking up SPC. She Googles Emerson's name, finds out he's the CEO of this almost sex club. So the sex club isn't open yet. There's still under construction. And she kind of falls down the kinky rabbit hole and discovers praise kink and realize that that's probably what she has. She ends up having very vivid sex dream, which I mean, of course you would. And she dreams of Emerson. He's hot. All of the things she's read about. And he is definitely like a hot daddy. Or I guess that's called a Zaddy, which is like a whole new word that I've never heard of a Zaddy. We didn't cover this in the book. A Zaddy. It's not in the book, but a Zaddy is like a hot daddy. Lindsay, teach us your ways. I know. Oh, I am now into Zaddy. Yeah. What is Zaddy? It's like a Zaddy cake. Yeah. And I'm like loving every minute. Totally. So she's never going to call him. But, she's totally having sex dreams about him. She works at a skating rink. It's exactly what you think it is. It's the whole time he's skating rink. She hands out the skates to the kids. And I didn't even really is like skating rinks were still a thing. But apparently they are. So she's there at work one day. She's handing out skates. And who shows up? But Emerson and says, I need a secretary. You need a job. Why don't you come work for me? And so she starts asking him like, what's the deal with the kneeling?

Do all your secretaries do that? And he's like, no, this would be like a real. secretary job. And she accepts. There's some back and forth, but she accepts. He's doing it because him and his son's and his son's ex-girlfriend. And he is thinking, like, if she comes to work for me, maybe my son will come over a little bit and try to get her back. He's got ulterior motives. But he also is very It's a gateway. It is a total gateway. There's an undercurrent of maybe, but like they broke up. So anyway, she takes the job. And then she goes and buys some sexy secretary outfits and shows up to work right in her early. five minutes before nine. This was interesting to me. Her outfit on day one was a choice. It was good much.

It was very hooker-ass. It's a blackeress. A pencil skirt with like a black bra with a translucent kind of see-through top. Not kind of. It was totally see-through. She's trying to seduce him, but she doesn't really know what she's doing.

I don't know if that's what she had read up on the sex club and she was like, I feel like this must be what. But yeah, this is what people wear. But his office is at his home. Right. So she's showing up to his home. It's just him and her and a maid. Can I just say we dress for the job we want?

Yes, yes. That's what she did. That is what she did. You know what? It works every time. I'm telling you. His old secretaries were always submissive. So he's trying to separate the two now and just treat her like a secretary.

but she's way too curious and just starts asking all the questions. She's looking at like applications of people who want to work at the club who are tied up and naked. And so she's in the sex club business now. Well, part of her job is filtering through his email. Right. So it's like getting all these applications. And she's like, what the hell is this? And he's like, well, since you ask.

That's what it is. Come on over. I'll tell you. Totally. And he's unapologetic about it, which is interesting too. Because his son has a lot of judgment towards him. But he's like, I have no problem with the fact that I have women come and kneel at my desk. She calls him the kneeling girls.

Yeah, right, because she's so naive about it. She's what? She's 21. She's young. She's very naive to this whole world. But she's super curious. And that makes him even more sort of attracted to her. And he's trying very hard to not be because she's his son's ex.

It's first day. She has to fill out all the paperwork. So he takes her to the soon-to-be-open sex club so that she can meet with Maggie, who essentially is like, you know, the HR person who helps run the club and everything. And she runs into this guy named Drake. Now, Drake is like the construction guy. Like, he's the developer of the thing. I hope we have a Drake book coming up because, I mean, me.

And you have to wonder. He's the man-war, right? Oh, big time. He's the man-hor. Yeah. He's not a partner. He just, like, works for them. But he's there with his hard hat on and he's super sex.

And she looks him up and down. When she's in the seethora shirt with the bra, everybody's like, what? Corporate dreams. Yeah, totally flirting with her. And Emerson gets a bit possessive and is like, stand down. You know, likey. Yeah. She's kind of a little, like, annoyed.

And she goes in, you know, to the club. She doesn't really understand what's going on. She says, I'm going to go find the office myself. Then she runs into what they call the throne room. And so she's just curious. She's peeking in and Garrett, the, the, the, partner follows her in and says, what do you think? And she's confused. Why would you want to sit in a throne? And Garrett's like, okay, let's try it. Sit in the throne. And he kind of starts

flirting with her. And he's like, he's like, finding your kink. Like he is like, if you don't know what it is, Garrett is going to help you figure it out. And he's a smooth talker. And he's very charismatic. He's a recruiter. He's a recruiter. He's very charming. And she is a fish out of water, but she is super curious and Garrett follows her in and he's got his he's got his prey in the trap he's like hey now that you're here let's talk and so he's excited to help her explore her kink because that's what he does that is not what Emerson's plan was no emerson does walk in and tells Garrett to go away and she's like you know why would you do that and he's like you're too young this isn't the place for you and she tries to quit but he basically says no you can't quit just

Just don't be here without me. I want to be with you if you're in this world. And again, puts his hand on her back, which I am like so obsessed with like the hand on the back. This is the hottest move a man. Oh, so true. She immediately feels safe. Hottest move. Yeah.

Oh, it's so hot, right? I mean, more than just some of the sex stuff, just a man putting his hand on. Oh, so good. Anyway, it takes her back to the house. They kind of settle into their working relationship. They're working in the same room with the two desks. They talk throughout the day. but sex is definitely top of mind, and she begins learning the world in which he operates,

and Emerson starts kind of testing his boundaries with her. He's trying to maintain his professionalism, but he has these like slips. They maintain eye contact. He's instructing her, kind of ordering her around in very subtle ways. And she is not put off on it. She loves it. The tension is palpable. These two. It is palpable. And it was, I have to say, it was so well written, too. Oh, yeah. It was delicious. Like, I mean, I loved this building. up with these two because you needed it. Right. It was really, really well done. Sarah Kate.

I agree. And it took a long time to get to the sex and I didn't care. Right. Because the foreplay was just so juicy. So anyway, he's still trying to keep things pretty profesh, but he does come to her and says, hey, we have the opening party in a month help me pick out my suit. She helps him. And then she's asking him, does he have a date?

Basically, he says, I'll just go with you. You can come with me. And she's actually, like, strangely reticent. to go with him. She really does kind of push back. But there's this moment while they're talking about it where he sort of leans up and then she freaks out and like tries to leave. And he chases her down. And he basically says, listen, we'll pretend that never happened. And she says, okay. And then she does agree to go to the thing as his date. So she totally hot for him. She's so insecure. I think she's really struggling with this because the way that Beau's personality was he would belittle her. He was condescending. He was rude. He put her down.

Her dad, she had daddy issues too, same thing. Yeah. She's never felt super valuable. She's never felt pretty. She's never done any of these things. And discovering this group of people and these kinks, she's starting to feel really empowered. These feel like her people. It's scary.

Yeah. She's like, what is this place? Right. I really want to explore. Right. It's empowering. Right. But then she kind of gets scared too.

She's scared. Yeah. But she does. sure, but he does call it like sexually liberated, right? Like, just be yourself and don't be worried about what anybody else thinks. And there is a scene, which I didn't, wasn't really thinking about doing, but she does feel liberated. She goes to a record store and flirt with a record guy so that she can get a record for her sister. Like, she starts to kind of use her sexuality. So there's lots of these little scenes of their working relationship and this foreplay is how they come to be. There's a

couple of good ones where she ends up going to get lunch for them one day and walks the three miles round trip and her heels and he freaks out. Why are you walking that far and starts rubbing her feet, takes off her nylons. She leaves her foot close to his his leg. His leg or something else? His other leg. It's like a third leg. Leg number three. And so what stops this one is Bo calls and she answers. So then she has to get up. She goes to the thing. Bo is like, why are you working for my dad? He only knows because the dad called him and mentioned that she was there. So the dad kind of got what he wanted, except Bo didn't call Emerson. He called Charlie. And Charlie's like, I'm not quitting. Fuck you. So then they... Emerson is in a really weird... It's a weird situation.

Because he wants his son back, but he also wants this girl. And he knows if he gets this girl, he won't get a son back. He can't get a right choice here. No. And Bo is such a douchebag that he wants the deposit. So he's annoying Charlie to get the deposit back from his dad so he doesn't have to man up and deal with his dad issues because he thinks his dad is disgusting because of his game. And, you know, listen, like Emerson asked for this Sophie's choice. Like he sought her out. He brought her in. And he already knew he was attracted to her. He just thought, oh, I'll just, I won't do it. But that was obviously never going to happen. So. They go to the opening night of the BDSM Club. Garrett, the guy in the throne room, kind of flirts with her. And Emerson again gets super possessive and tells him to back off. They dance together. He's definitely touching her. They're flirting like crazy.

And finally, Charlie wants to go, needs to go to the bathroom. But she ends up in the private hallway where the throne room is. But it has a bouncer and like a rope in Stanchin because it's open. And she says, oh, I was just looking for the bathroom. And the bouncer looks up, gets a nod from someone. we assume is Emerson, to let her through. She goes to explore all these rooms with the glass walls, kind of looking into all the sex scenes.

And she gets to the thrown room, and there's a threesome happening. And she is so engaged. She's watching everything. And she doesn't hear Emerson come up behind her. And he comes up and holds her from behind, starts talking softly in her ear, kind of forcing her to watch,

like pushes her chin so that she definitely watches what's happening, asked her all these questions. It's super hot. They're not even having sex. She's so resistant. But he starts calling her a good girl. and tells her she should touch herself. And she does.

He calls her baby, tells her she's perfect. And that is like her kink. Like she just needs him to tell her how perfect she is. Then they go home. Like nothing happens kind of past that. It's sort of a one-night thing. But as she's getting out of the car, he holds her head and says just for tonight and kisses her. He doesn't know what he's done because now Charlie is.

She's so confused. But she's also hooked. And so she goes home. She researches everything now. Now she really wants to know what it is. She shows up to work on Monday, ready to convince him that he needs to be teaching her what all this means. So she wears her favorite outfit with the see-through shirt. She gets on her knees on a pillow.

And when he walks in, he basically is stunned, but knows exactly what he's doing there. She's waiting for him to say, get off your knees and go home. And he doesn't. He just walks over, touches her hair. And he says, do you want to be my sub? And she's like, yes. And so he agrees to train her, but he says he's not going to do it every day. Some days he just wants her to be Charlotte, which I.

I think is really cute because it shows that he really does like her outside of a person. Yeah. Yeah. It's a dom-sub relationship. So he does give her a limit, a document that she has to fill out, but she's not sure how she should fill it out because they aren't having sex. So she doesn't know if she should answer the sex questions or not. She kind of leaves them blank because they're still trying to have this semi-professional relationship. It's a little blurry. It gets a little blurry. The lines are very. And they're both very confused and they're not being transparent with each other. So it's. like, but he is starting to train her. He tells her to keep quiet. She can't talk until he talks to her. He, she asked him to come kneel at his feet, which she doesn't really like, but then as soon as she is able to put her head on his lap and he pets her, she's in, she's in it to win it. So he does kind of give her some like coaching. So she starts texting him at night about various St. Andrews Cross, what's that? Asking him all these questions about her research. So he's now really, really, really struggling because he's envisioning all of this. But he's still at this crossroads, which...

She's his dream, girl. The crossroads lasted way too long to me. They should have given in way earlier, but the tension was... Oh, I don't know. Like, I didn't hate this angst at all. I didn't hate it. I really liked the buildup, and I loved the fact that the kink list had like over 200 less things to check off.

And, like, when he finally had it, he's like, fill out the fucking form, Charlie. And he was like so like now fill it out. Yeah. And I was like, oh, touchdown. That was so hot. That was so hot. It's going to happen.

So she does fill out the forum at first, but doesn't all the way fill it out. So he's, you know, also confused. What does she want? What does she not want? She's afraid to fill it out because she doesn't want to be vulnerable. So he takes her back to the sex club. He has a meeting that he has to go to, takes her with him because they're meeting a sex toy dealer, which is a whole job that you could have.

Oh, totally. Totally. I've met some. The whole crew is there. And Drake, the sizzling contractor and Hunter, who's technically married, not technically, he is married. It turns out the sex toy dealer is one of Emerson's former secretaries. She picks up on that. Yeah, she picks up on it. She gets jealous.

He tells her, kind of orders her around, and she doesn't do it because she's mad. And so he walks away to give the woman a tour. and Drake is so mischievous and he's like, let me play a little game with you. So they have all the sex toys and he's like, hey, Hunter needs to pick out a toy for his wife. Help us pick one of these out. Finally, he basically dares her. There's this vibrator that you put in your panties and then your significant other has the remote and can turn it on and off at a whim. And she really pushes back.

But when he dares her, she's like, fine, I'll show you. So she goes in and puts this pink vibrator into her panties. And as soon as she walks out of the bathroom, Drake turns it on. And she like yelps, like screams. Like she was not expecting it. She can barely stand. She's holding your legs together. She's telling him he's an asshole. She's climbing up Drake to try and get the remote out of his hands. And of course, that's when Emerson comes in, basically asks like, what the hell are you doing? He says, we're leaving now. The best part was like they were walking out and they turned around and went and got the remote. He's like, give me that. Give me that. Yeah. So Charlie does follow. They end up at lunch.

She's freaking out. She thinks he's mad at her. Which he kind of is a fancy. Yes. Fancy. And she's already like totally on the edge. You know, she is right at because he kept cranking it up.

Let's see how this works. He was kind of an asshole in this. He was such an asshole. But she was an idiot too. I mean, they were both like idiots. But she's 21. Yeah. Yeah.

She is 21. That's a good for my ass. And sending adults. So he does start to use the remote. He keeps telling her, be a good girl. So he's turning this thing up. She's basically about to have an orgasm in the middle, this fancy restaurant. And he's trying to get her to recognize that she's his, he's hers, they're exclusive.

He's not cheating on her. Does she really want this or not? And she says yes. And he lets her have the orgasm. They end up having kind of this heart to heart. She promises to be good. They go home. This is when the drama is.

And she's like, you know, I don't want to be vulnerable anymore, like, and not know what you want two, you need to fill out your own form. And he's like, I don't have to fill out the form. I want to do it all. Fill out the goddamn form. Because I think it was a scale of one to five. And he said, on every checkmark, my answer is five for you. And it was like, oh, I know. That was so hot. She fills out the form. He doesn't come back to the office for a while. She finds him in the gym. He's shirtless, sweaty. She gets in between his legs, which I also think is a really hot way to stand. It's a good move. He has his hands on the back of her thigh. eyes, you know, his head on her chest.

They're about to kiss and what happens? All things good. Ring dong. So damn it. Bo, do me, Bo! Bo are done! Bo is a loser. How many times can he cockpock them?

I mean, it's bad. So anyway, Bo suck. Emerson, guilty dad is like, it's Bo. And then he starts to feel guilty. So there's some awkward interactions. They all sit down, they talk, whatever. And Emerson, fuck you. like, Bo, you should take Charlie to dinner. And Charlie's like, what the hell are you talking?

We just established that we were togetherish. She's so confused. Why do you do that? It's not fair. I don't blame her. I thought it was so dickish. And he's trying to be a good dad, but he's like now treating her. Like an object. Like I can go to him. So Bo and her go hang out. They get pizza to go back to her place. But she finally tells him, Bo, I don't want to have anything to do with you. You treated me like shit. He wants to get back together with her. I guess he broke up with the fling. He lost his job. He's laying on her bed like, hey, baby. And she's like, she finally says, no. I'll take you home. Like, we can be friends, but I'm not getting back together with you. And he's like, well, my dad will be really disappointed. I'm sure he was trying to get us back together. She was hurt before, but now she's like kind of extra hurt. So she shows up

back to Emerson's house and tells him off. She's like, fuck you. Like, what the hell are you doing? Like, that's not cool. After Bo leaves. She goes back over to his house and is like, ring on. As she should. They have problems. Yeah. And he does try to put her off and say, like, this isn't right. You're the ex of my son.

But she's like, well, what about what I want? And you do want it. And like, this isn't cool. And he's like, fine, but we can't tell anyone. You are now my dirty little secret. And it works for the story, but I also didn't love that part because she has such low self-esteem that she's like, okay, I'll take what I can get. Literally those words came out of her mouth, which I thought was really, you know, quite

sad, but this led to the first sex scene, which was really hot. So I'll let it go. But how else could they have done it? That's the only way they could have done it. It's still sad, though, for her, but she's happy. She's now fully all the way in. He's still conflicted. I think he got all the way in. Yeah. I'm fairly certain. Multiple times. Several times. So they do have hot desk sex, which I'm also a big fan of. And then Carries are upstairs. They're hungry and it's written super well. Bravo, Sarah Kate. And he doesn't want her to leave, but she has to because she has to work the next day. He tells her if you're going to be out to one in the morning, you should come in late, but you also just shouldn't leave. And she's like, okay, they're settling in to this sort of secret romance affair.

None of his partners know this is happening. But we're in it now. Lots of foreplay, lots of sex, really yummy. But their relationship is still, like, budding. It's not just the sex part. So she's at her sister's birthday party at the skating rink. He's texting her. I love this.

This was so cute. And he's like, where are you? And he shows up to the sister's birthday party to be with her, which I think is so sweet. And definitely it shows his commitment to this. He brings a gift that is very on point for the sister. It is like her dream gift. VIP tickets to the show she wanted to go to. Yeah, best boyfriend ever.

He showed up as the best boyfriend ever. Then he went home with them after to watch movies and like got to know the family. And the mom is super cool. Like she strikes me as kind of a hippie. She knew something was going on. She could tell they had chemistry. Clearly there's an age gap, but she didn't care. And she was like open arms.

Come on in. But the dad had walked out on her. Yes. The dad walked out because the sister was gay. She was trans. She was trans. She was trans. That's right.

It was trans. And that came up in the very beginning where Charlie asked him if the club was LGBTQ friendly and he said, well, of course it is. And she was like, that means a lot to me. And you realize because her sister is trans and the dad walked out on the family, the whole family, because of this. But I think that goes back to the mom being so open and accepting of this relationship because it's whatever makes my kid happy. And that's what I saw with her. And she's 21 and she's a consenting adult. And there's another storyline here where Charlie and the sister are talking and it's like, am I happy? And it's like, yes, you look happy. So there's a lot of this like, are you looking

happy? Do you feel happy? Are you being yourself? That was their check-in for each other. So they would look at each other and be like, am I happy? Because they would argue or whatever. And it'd be like, hold on, stop. Am I happy? And it was really cute. Yeah. They end up back at the club at some point and they're doing like a date auction. And they're like short a couple of people. And so they somehow convinced Charlie to enter herself into this. Since you're not doing anything. auction. And Emerson is basically trying to prove a point to her. Like she has low self-esteem. She doesn't think she's worth it, that she's pretty, that she compares all these people. And he's trying to say, like, you're going to get bid on. And she's like, no one's going to biddle me. It's going to be crickets. And he's like, well, let's see what happens. There is this lady Dom that we haven't really talked about. They end up being friendly. And the lady Dom like undresses her and says, no, you're hot. You need to dress like this. So she does the last person in the auction. Emerson bids on her, but so does. Somebody. else and they get into a bidding war. I thought this was so cute though because before it even happens, he asks his partner,

he's like, is so-and-so going to be here tonight? Shit. It's going to cost me a lot of money tonight. A ton of money. Yeah. Yeah, because he knows the type, but I'm ready to pay it. So they get all the way up to the $75,000 mark. And Emerson, as you would expect, wins her for $75K.

And she's freaking out, like, oh, my God, he had to spend all this money. She still doesn't think she's worth it. So he comes up, throws her over his shoulder and takes her back. And she's like, what are you doing? And he's like, I'm getting my hours worth. And he's trying to like convince her. It wasn't crickets. I'm willing to pay this. You're worth it. And so he kind of punishes her with sex to get her to admit to herself that she's worth it. He really edges her. There's all the toys are used. It's a very, very hot BDS sex scene. And she breaks down. And so he wants to take her home for more aftercare. But they're falling for each other. And he admits to himself, if not to her, that he is in love with her. But he still can't convince himself to have her because he doesn't want to lose. We've done a lot of BDSM books lately. And I don't know how we got here. But I did like this.

I did think this was healthy. I told you. It just depends on the scene. A lot of the BDSM, like to me isn't desirable. But to this, I understood. And I was like, this is hot. I really thought it was fun. It's a safe space.

It's not to demoralize. it's very much to praise and satisfy both people. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. I agree. So we're getting to sort of the culmination here. The rest of it can go pretty quick. But essentially, it's going really well.

They're settling into a life together, really. They lay on the couch and watch movies. So there's certainly more to their relationships than just the sex. They walk down for lunch at the place a mile and a half away. He puts in the vibrator, the panty vibrator. They're going to play with that later. and they're walking back from lunch and again, Bo shows up. It's like he's stalking them.

He shows up every time. He is literally a cock block. So it's obviously super awkward, but they're entertaining Bo. Emerson gets all excited that Bo's there, brings, he got a new job. Emerson brings him a beer. They're chatting for half an hour. Charlie's actually starting to kind of is ignored to some degree, but she starts to feel guilty because she's seeing their relationship and she knows how much Emerson wants it.

But Bo goes to leave and they've got to go back to work and he goes to get his keys from the side table. It's my favorite part of the book. That's where Emerson left the remote control for the vibrator. And Bo accidentally hits the vibrator. And she squeaked. She's squeaked. She's trying to unlock something. And Emerson frees out.

Grab the key, grabs the thing out of his hand, shuts it off and it's awkward as shit. And Bo. May I ask, how many of you have garage? Was it a garage truck? No, it's his truck. He was just a clicker. His truck keys looked the same as the vibrator. No, but I think he just accidentally hit it when he went to pick up the keys.

I'm going to tell you this. They do look similar. That's all I'm going to say. That's all I'm saying. I don't need to know why you know that. Thank you. All right. I think you could probably figure it out.

It wasn't that veiled. Just saying. They look very similar. So anyway, Boe starts freaking out. He's like yelling. And Emerson says it's nothing. And Charlie is crestfallen. Like, what do you mean? It's nothing. Bo's yelling and Emerson's trying to stop her. And she's a mess. All she can think about is that he said it was nothing. So she goes home. It's about a week. She's been crying. She's sad. Her sister tries to get her out. They go for margaritas. And it turns out Emerson's been trying to contact her. He sent her like numerous text messages, left her several voicemails. And she's ignoring him because it's nothing like really, really hurt her. She's really trying to decide. Was it nothing? Was I naive? Was I too young? So Bo comes to find her at work, at the skating rake, to talk things out because he wants to make sure that his dad didn't hurt her. And he wants to talk to the dad too. And the dad's like, no, I didn't hurt

her. Like, what are you talking about? And he, he's looking at her very differently. It's not like a physical hurt. It's like a impressionable hurt. Like psychologically, he took advantage of her, all these different things. Because he thinks his dad is twisted. Right. Because the club thing really. Yes. And he's like, what is my dad done to you? He's like brainwashing you. And she's like, no, this opened a whole new world for me that I needed in my life. Right. And he's been good to me. And so she's trying to figure out what to do. She hasn't called Emerson, but she does decide to put on a sleeky black dress and go back to the club. She's a member now. Because at the beginning, he said, yeah. So the lady kink blogger finds her realizes what's going on and basically says, do you want to make your man really jealous? And she's like, sure. Yeah. He happened to be there at the same.

Well, he was there. Yes. In the office. So she goes in in the office drinking himself silly because he's pouting because she hasn't called him back yet. And Maggie comes in and says, you're being a dickwad. Oh, and by the way, she's in room 12 with Eden. You should probably get in there. Don't make a scene. Don't make a scene. That's my favorite. Don't make it weird. Don't make it weird. So he runs into the room. Eden is obviously like knows he's there. He made a scene. He did make a scene. ran in and was like, get the fuck out. And they end up doing stuff in the room, but she's still very frustrated with him. And he's like, we can still do this. And she's like, if you can't pick me, it's just not enough for me. The pick me part. I struggle with that because she really wanted him to pick her over his son. I think, you know, there was a scene earlier where she basically said, Bo is a grownup and he needs to grow up and get over this.

And it's not like you're not doing it. We're in this thing. You're just hiding it. Yeah, you're just hiding it. And he's a grownup and needs to be a fucking grownup, which I don't disagree. I don't either. And so she's like, if you can't also be a grownup and have a conversation with your son, like, that's not enough for me. She goes home.

She's basically assuming that they're never going to get back together. But when she was doing the auction, turns out, one of her dad's old co-workers are there called the dad and said, your daughter's selling herself in a sex club. So dear old dad shows up, who hasn't been in the whole book, knocks on her door because she's in the pool house. She comes out. He's berating her, screaming at her. The sister comes out. She's like, stop. The mom's there. It's a whole scene. Sister goes and calls Emerson. Says, this is scaring me. I'merson happened to be with Bo. They show up, push the dad off white nights. The whole time the dad is like, do you know what's going on? What's going on? Like, this is sick. And the mom's like, yep, knew the whole time. Didn't know she sold herself. We knew something was going on. And so basically, the dad finally leaves. And Emerson does say, like, can I call? you later and she says yes. Bo's and his dad are still pretty stilted but together they go off and Bo just finally asked like are you in love with her? Are you going to treat her right? And he says, I am in

love with her. So Bo finally comes back around and to say, listen, I still don't get it, but he is in love with you too and he said he's going to treat you right. And she can't stop, runs right over to Emerson's house and says, if you're ready for this, so am I. There's a nice hot sex scene at the end and Dun-tun-ton-tun. Happily ever after. The end. The end. So it was a great book. I loved this book. I loved it too. I really couldn't get enough. I thought the tension was really hot. The sex scenes were hot. So I personally gave this book like a four and a half. Like I thought it was really well done. I enjoyed it. I've, I whipped through it so quickly. There's really not a lot about this book that I would change from a story's perspective. I really liked it. I gave it a four. I thought it was good. It's hard because this is on. on the heels of chasing the wild. And that was such different writing, I think the difference was the scenery. So, like, I do think the landscape was different and it would have been great to, like, feel more of the environment. There was a little piece of that missing for me. But it was an absolute fore. And I would read more of the books in this series 100%. Definitely. I'm all there. Chasing the wild, though, the scenery was part of the story. Like, the scenery was almost a character. And it was. that story, which you didn't have here. Like, the BDSM Club was the character in the story, right? Which is just, yeah, not as similar.

But I'm with Jen. I also gave it a four for kind of similar reasons because I wanted to feel like I was in the club and I didn't. Right. I felt like I had a couple of glimpses of what that was, but I wanted to feel the attraction that she felt in the club. I wanted that, that draw in. I love the storyline in general.

I thought it was great. Like you, Jen, I'm looking at. like other books like Chasing the Wild. It's so hard to follow that book. It really is. Because it was a similar trope. Yeah, that's true. But you were there.

You were embedded in chasing the wild. And I think too, getting to the gap of why she worked for him too felt like, wait, why did he show up at the roller skating rink time? Yeah, that was what fast. I felt like we could have got more reason behind that, but it doesn't matter. This book was very good. It was good. It was still good. So at least a four from everyone, Lynn, a little higher. What about the spice? I'm five spice. I thought the four play was amazing. I thought the sex was good. I definitely wanted to be in every scene.

I was a four again. I want to be back in the club. I want to know what's – the whole thing is about the salacious players club. I give a shit what's happening in the gym at home. I want to go to the club. I liked the gym at home. But I – fair point. It was hot. I'm not saying it wasn't hot, but I would rather be in the club. would have been a little bit hotter if he didn't have a home office. If there are sex scenes in the office would have been in an actual office. At the club office. I think this would have been a little higher. I'm going to give it a four, but only because, you know, our bar is high. My bar is high. Yeah. Think about that. She has to, she has to go through the club to get to the office to ask for her deposit back. She has, I mean, you could really feel the spice in that club and the wonder that she would have walking.

in there seeing the St. Andrew's Cocks. Seeing a wall of whips and chains, seeing the case. I mean, that would have been hotter to me. So four for me. Not a bad for. It's a good four. It's a good four. It's not a bad for.

I'll take it for. This was a great book. I mean, I think we all universally liked it. I think there was, you know, some interesting tropes.
