Starting point is 00:00:00 How have I lived here this long? I'm not known. Bodka, girl, any kind of or rubbing alcohol, any kind of alcohol just poured across? No. I haven't found it. If there is.
Starting point is 00:00:11 Cleans wounds. I used to clean your soul. Every thing. It's got to hit a sport bottle. Buckle of literature fans. We're in for some boozy bookgasms today. Join three cousins creating a titillating headspace
Starting point is 00:00:29 where steamy romance novels collide with strong cocktails. So sit back, sip slow, and enjoy the ride. Welcome back, literature fans. I'm Jen. I'm Ken. And I'm Lynn. Today we are getting in the holiday spirit discussing Christmas toy by Krista Wolf.
Starting point is 00:00:52 This is a sizzling, stand-alone, reverse harem romance filled with fiery holiday action. But before we open those gifts, what are we drinking tonight? Ah, well, with this being a pretty steamy romance, I thought it'd be kind of fun to cool things off with a little fun holiday twist. So today we're going to be sipping a sweet, white Christmas margarita. It's pretty similar to your traditional margarita with tequila, triple second sour mix, but we're going to add some coconut cream instead and instead of the salt. We're going to rim the glass with some coconut flakes. Gives that frosty, wintry feel, which with such a hot book I thought we might. need to kind of cool off a little bit.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Yeah. Yeah. So we can bring it all home with some fresh cranberries, a sprig of rosemary, and a light dusting of powdered sugar, which represents the snow and the frost. Pretty good. And it's beautiful when it's all put together. That coconut cream, yeah, does it that snowy feel? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:54 And I will say if you are not a tequila drinker, which I am not, you can also sub out rum and even vodka. I mean, pretty much any drink you want in there, but you can make a nice festive drink. How about Fireball? Why not? I'm not. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:15 I think that would be actually. That sounds amazing. That sounds amazing. I would totally drink that. That goes with an agnog. I wouldn't put that at the other one. I am a tequila drinker, and this is a very interesting combination, and a little sweet for me, but it is, but is interesting.
Starting point is 00:02:30 and I like the, I like the color. It's really pretty. It looks very festive to me. Love it. Awesome. Well, I will kick us off here. So we will start with meeting our female main character, whose name is Alyssa.
Starting point is 00:02:47 She works for a real estate firm in Florida, and she is absolutely the office flirt. We meet each of our main male characters as she walks around the office, basically hitting on them and making herself. self available. This was kind of like, where's HR in this group to me? Like the whole time I'm reading out.
Starting point is 00:03:06 There's a small company. There ain't no HR. I'm telling you that right now. And she's like the June. They're like the three guys are kind of in charge and she's sort of like the lowest middle person. Yeah. No, I think she's sort of adjacent.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Like I think she gets a mid level. So yeah. Like she's definitely hitting on her bosses. So like does. is the first guy we meet, and he's just recently worked his way up from the field into the office. And this is very important to him. They're in a meeting, and she's leaning over him with her hair spilling onto the documents that her tits hanging out.
Starting point is 00:03:47 And she's really obvious about it. He mentions, oh, I won't make it to the meeting next week because we have our annual boy trip with Rogan and Mason. And this will be the first year. His girlfriend, Emma, isn't going on the trip. And this is where we find out they recently broke up. And Alyssa says, oh, I wish I could go skiing. I'm from New Jersey.
Starting point is 00:04:06 And I really miss winter sports. Oh, and by the way, my parents don't really do holidays. So I'm going to be by myself anyway. Is she not obvious? It's like to have more subtle than that. You thought it was subtle? I thought she was so obvious. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:04:25 She was literally like, here's the keys to my apartment. Right. I should be invited to everything. Thank you. Did I mention my panties are edible? Exactly. Exactly. She's done with Desmond.
Starting point is 00:04:40 She works her way over to Rogan. She brings him papers he's already signed just to get into his office, have a reason to be there. And he kind of calls her out on it. She's like, all right, all right, fine. I'm just here to say hi before you leave. And then she remembers like, oh, they had a really like, like near intimate encounter not so long ago in the archive room where they almost kissed. And she's just sort of reminiscing about that.
Starting point is 00:05:06 But she's, she's had one of these encounters with all of them, right? Even the first one. Not Desmond. Oh, I thought she did. But it was like it feels like they have the strongest flirtation. Like, yeah. So then the third guy is Mason, the third man on her potential menu.
Starting point is 00:05:24 And he is our computer nerd. and we find out they've already kissed when they were drunk at a company pick. So he's telling her, I heard you were going skiing with us. And she's kind of caught off guard. And she's like, what do you mean? I can't. I didn't take the day off. I have meetings.
Starting point is 00:05:41 But like, you know, she's really not fighting that hard. And so then Rogan and Desmond are standing in the doorway and they're like, look, we have Emma's ticket since the breakup. We have this extra ticket. Just come along. And the next thing we know they're on an airplane on their way to Vermin. She can't believe she's there and she's like, I wonder if this will lead to romance. The guys have already kind of talked about how they all like her and think she's hot,
Starting point is 00:06:06 but they've decided to have a gentleman's agreement that they will not be hitting on her. This is Desmond's family cabin. It's really cute and cabany, but also like freezing. Cavany. It seems kind of remote. He doesn't love a good cabbony. They should post that on Airbnb. It's Cabinie. Enjoy.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Doesn't that help you create a visual? No. Yeah, no. I mean, when I hear Cabin, it's already made the visual. Anyway. I feel like double stating it is necessary, but to reach their own. What if it's ugly, Cabinie? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:50 It doesn't feel right. Yeah. So Desmond insists that Alyssa has the master bedroom. which is super nice. And they everybody gets unpacked and they're all drinking by the fire later. Well, because it has like the, it has the onsuit. The on suite. So she has like her own bathroom, which is quite, it's very nice of him.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And he, when Emma was there, he and Emma stayed in that room. But she's not there. And he's like, you're a woman. You need a bathroom. I'll share with the dudes. And I feel like that was really. That was nice. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:20 So she's feeling pretty good after three glasses of wine by the fire with the guys. But she cuts herself off because they're going. going skiing the next day. She doesn't want to be hungover. And so Rogan offers to walk her 10 feet to her nice of him. Also very gentlemanly. She doesn't get lost in the cabony. It's a long hallway. It was cabbony. That can get tricky. But then he like they're flirting. He he pulls away right before the kiss and she feels rejected a little bit. But I think it's because of this gentleman's agreement. He's trying to, like, hold up to his agreement that, like, they're not supposed to with her.
Starting point is 00:08:00 But she's so tempting, you know, that's why he walked her there. That's a Hallmark moment, right? They're in the Hall. Oh, yeah. They're talking. Wait, aren't they in the bedroom? They're in the bedroom. They're in the bedroom.
Starting point is 00:08:10 I don't know. I think that they'd have been outside on the doorstep. That's true. And the phone would ring or something would happen. Or the elderly neighbor would come by. The real. I brought you some cookies. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Alyssa is bummed because she's, you know, didn't get her kiss. So she starts getting nosy and rummaging through the drawers. And she finds Emma's diary. So this is the thing. As one would do. Like, I'm denied. I'm going to rummage. I don't even have to be denied.
Starting point is 00:08:43 I would totally have like opened that drawer. I find that so weird that like, like, she. It's a little invasive. It's not like you're looking for a Band-Aid or some asses. It's like, I don't know. The nightstand. You're like in someone's home. It's a vacation.
Starting point is 00:09:01 It's a vacation home. She can't sleep and she's like curious. So she opens a door. What's in here? She does. So she finds a diary of a Dioxed girlfriend that used to stay in that room with Desmond. And she's raised it, you know.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Of course. Because as one does. I mean, why stop now? Right. If you're gone, you're this far down the path. Let's not go on. You know. You took the ticket.
Starting point is 00:09:25 You came to the cabany place. You. You almost did yours. The diary is very graphic. And it's about Emma's sex with Desmond and it's super hot. Alyssa decides she's going to start touching herself until she reaches climax. And the most interesting part about this part to me was that she said she gushed violently. when she had her
Starting point is 00:09:56 And I thought that was a lot You thought she'd pee. Because that was my there. Watching violently from just touching herself, like, I felt like that was a lot. It was a lot. It was a lot. It was a lot.
Starting point is 00:10:10 It was a lot. Certainly descriptive. Like, I'm hoping she did laundry the next day, Kim. I know how I don't think so. I, this is a common theme. It's a common theme. All these people are having multiple sex partners. in the same bed and nobody is doing laundry.
Starting point is 00:10:27 It's a common theme. They don't discuss laundry. Even when we get sponsors, I think we should reach out. Like detergent. Like laundry detergent. Clean is tied. Wait. What I saw?
Starting point is 00:10:42 Anything. Those plastic sheets from Bing's giving like, there you go. They didn't have any. They shut up. Nothing. So the next day they go skiing. And she has a moment with Mason where the two of them, you know, they're the ones that got drunk at the company picnic and made out. They're like, why didn't you?
Starting point is 00:11:02 And why didn't you? And they realized it was just mixed signals. He thought she didn't want to and vice versa. And they realized they still kind of have the hods for each other. And listen, Alyssa is working every single one of these guys. She doesn't care who. She just wants. He knows.
Starting point is 00:11:18 She's going to end up with one of them. Yeah. And she's getting something for Christmas. Yeah. She's trying to figure out which one, I think, too. Like, she's doing her homework. Which one of these guys do I maybe want to go all in with? They're also like trying to not.
Starting point is 00:11:32 She's very open-minded. But it's like happy holidays. But she's also like, they're like, they're kind of treating her like she might not know how to ski. She, you know, leads them on. She was on the ski team. Well, she was on the ski team. Yeah. She, she schooled them all.
Starting point is 00:11:46 So she, because she, they, she made a bet that she would win the ski race or whatever. And she did. so they had to make her dinner. And so they're back at the house cooking dinner. And she can't stop thinking about them sexually. So one of them licks sauce off of his finger. She wishes, you know, she was his finger. The way you said that.
Starting point is 00:12:12 The way you said that is so cringy. That was cringy when I read it. So then she decorates that. also Christmas decorations. Oh, this is actually cute, though. Like, she wants to dress it up. So she asked where the decorations are. Yeah, she pulls the time.
Starting point is 00:12:30 That was Emma's job. So I also thought it was a little strange. It was like insert female here. Insert female. Emma's got it. You do all the Emma things. But that's what she wanted. Like, she read this diary and she's like,
Starting point is 00:12:45 I want to do everything that Emma did, right? I took her ticket. I showed up with her boyfriend and friends. I'm taking her vacation. I'm going skiing. Oh, Emma decorated? I'll decorate. The whole thing's cringy.
Starting point is 00:12:59 She is very, it's not stalker. It's a little desperate. One, it reads very desperate. But two, it's almost imposter. She's trying to like take over Emma's life. Yes. That's what I was looking for. It's not stalker though because she, you know, she doesn't give a fuck about Emma.
Starting point is 00:13:17 But it feels like she's just trying to step into her shoes. I guess. Not much else, but choose and just kind of be that person now based on her fantasies. Well, she had before they even got there, knew about this trip, knew the three guys and the girl, always went on this trip, right? And I think we already know that like Emma is the daughter of the owner of the company who had also worked in company. So like, Alyssa knows that this is all happened and kind of is like kind of from a far kind of looked upon. So now Emma's not going and she's like, oh, maybe I can fill this. Yeah. And we. have to say that Emma and Desmond broke up because Emma wanted to move out to California. So,
Starting point is 00:13:57 so Emma's not even in the office anymore. She's gone. She's out of the picture, has been out of the picture for what, six, eight months? Six months. Yeah. Like a decent amount. Not a long time, but long enough. Yeah. Long enough for Alyssa to swoop in and be like, I could take it and just kind of step in there. Hence the reason the guys are like, yeah, take the ticket. Yeah, there's nothing here. Should be fine. We're all just friends. Gentlemen's agreement. Here we go. She decorates the house. It's all very Christmassy. They all go to bed early.
Starting point is 00:14:26 They're tired from skiing. She starts reading Emma's journal again. And the next entry is about Desmond and Emma having sex. But this time, Rogan and Mason join in. Ba-ba-ba-ba. I was thinking more about Chick-a-wow-wow. Brown-chicken, brown cow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Brown-cow. A lot more interesting. So the next morning, this is where. gets a little, not the way I'm going to want it. I'll just say that. Okay. So she goes out the next day and buys a Christmas tree, a real one because they have a plastic crappy one. She gets it all decorated. She gets the guys in the living room. On her own, right? Like she goes out. I think the guys are burrows the truck goes and gets the tree. Yeah. She went into town. She did all that. She puts them all in front of the tree, kind of chevy chase style. Like, hey, everybody, I'm going to like the tree,
Starting point is 00:15:21 right? Like, but she makes them all, like, close her eyes. And then she's wearing like a sweater. Like a sweater. But no. I don't even think it's a dress. I think it's a sweater. No, it's barely covering her ass from what I'm like that. So she tells them all to close their eyes. And she lays under the tree. And then she says, open your eyes. And she's laying there. Like, you know, ta-da. Doesn't she have a bowl on your ass? Wait, we missed the whole part about the blind kissing test. Oh, that's right. I can't believe it.
Starting point is 00:15:54 See, I always get in trouble for this, but I'm going to have to back up. This part. This part is important. This is good. This was before the Christmas tree. Like, yes. Yes. All right.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Take us through it. Well, if I remember correctly. So they talk about who the better kisser is. And she's like, why don't we put it to a test? Well, they're all. getting drunk, right? Yeah. That's almost like a dare situation. Yeah. And so they make up these rules. And this is like their, their chance to break the gentleman agreement, right? And just kind of show off their stuff. She's like, okay, blindfold me. And then I'll kiss each one of you. And then, you know, we'll see who the winner is.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Yeah. And so they're like, okay, is it a steamy kiss? Is it a peck? Is it this? Is it that? And she's like, yeah, all in. Let's do. So they do. And they, they also, uh, they tire. hands behind her back because she can't touch them or something. Yeah. Yeah. So she's blindfolded and can't use her hand. She is just a receptacle for her tongue. Just a whole. And I don't remember who she picked though. I mean, I'm sitting here trying to remember who it was. I don't think she said, yeah, like you're all, you're all amazing. Yeah. Yeah. But she left them all wanting more. Yeah. Well, yeah. And then they're all like, so back to the, you know, she's under the Christmas tree and barely anything. And they all open their eyes and it's awkward for a minute. And they're like, ooh, like they don't know. Like less than a minute. Like, woo-hoo. And then she goes, you guys, I know you did this with Emma. Do it with me too. And they're all like, oh. Like it was super awkward. And then they say, okay, if you're sure, you're sure. You're ours for.
Starting point is 00:17:46 the rest of this trip. Your body belongs to us. And she's like done. Great. So they all bang her that night. And in the living room, right? It isn't like, starts in the living room. And it's important to say that like there's an alpha of this group. And it's definitely Desmond. And I don't know if it's because one, it's his cabin. Right. And it was his girlfriend. It was his girlfriend. You know, my girl, my gay. I don't know. It just, it all kind of goes together. So he's still the alpha in this group. And he decides who goes first. What's happening? What's what's taking place? That dynamic's really interesting to me. Isn't he the construction worker that made his way up into the office? So I see him as like this big buff guy that works outside all the time. And he's in charge. Well, and in these reverse harems, there's always one guy who is the leader guy, more dominant. Yeah, for sure. It was definitely Desmond. The spice is hot. Written very well. It's very hot. You're going to get what you come here for unless you're here for a plot. Like, but for the most part, like a spice is a little plot. There is. There is. There is. There are one notch above ordering pizza. There's a plot. But she does say. She can't remember the last time she's been dug out this deeply.
Starting point is 00:19:14 And I was like, like, like, what is that? Like, like a construction part? I thought it's gross. Why am I digging out? I don't know. Did you guys both listen? I did both. I did both.
Starting point is 00:19:31 I did both. I read it and I missed that part because that is cringy. Yeah. Well, you should hear it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm like, maybe because I read it, it did not resonate as I did not love this as an audio. I will say. I probably read most of it. Yeah. So she got dug out deeply and enjoyed it. On to Christmas morning. This is adorable. They all bought gifts for each other. Mason gave her a snow globe of the town they
Starting point is 00:19:59 were in and it was really beautiful. It was like perfect replica. She gave them all gag gifts that were kind of funny. She got Rogan, a key chain that said, I love fucking you. I mean, I fucking love you. She got Desmond a coffee mug that said, thanks for all the orgasms. And then she got mace and a bottle opener that said, I love you for who you are, but that dick sure is a bonus. So those were the kids. Can we talk about this cute little town, but this cute little town that they go Christmas shopping in. And she's able to find all of these gifts. She found a Spencer's gift somewhere around there.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Somewhere. And then the guys are all. Chivably buy them. Have you guys heard of this? A Lovence Lush? It's a vibrating? No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:50 That's what they got her. So they could control it on their phone and they just had a good time with that. Now here's where we go to the porno adaptation of The Shining. Because they get snowed in. They can't. They literally open the door. The shining. Kim.
Starting point is 00:21:11 The snow. The cabin. And you know. There's no acts. There's no killer. There's a porno. There's a shovel. But basically that's snowpocalypse, right?
Starting point is 00:21:22 Like they get really snowed in. They can't go anywhere. They entertain themselves with lots of sex or as Alyssa puts it, seemingly endless erections. I mean, I guess if there's three of them, there's always one that's going to be. Somebody's always up for the job. These reverse harems, the stamina and the women is always. just impressive. I mean, very impressive. It really is. Alyssa's still reading Emma's journal and realizes there's a hot tub. So she has the guys in six
Starting point is 00:21:54 foot high snow banks. Well, yeah. Well, the hot tub is not just right outside the door. It's like, no, it's down the pasty yards. They tunnel. They tunnel their way to the hot tub because of the snow. But it does sound really. It's cute. It sounds actually quite romantic with like the snow. I'm here So that's, you know, as one does in a hot tub, these hot tub conversations that get really deep, you know. She's like, well, whatever really happened with Emma? And they explained it was sort of a fantasy turned reality. Emma just talked about it with Desmond and then he brought it up to guys and it just sort of evolved. The reason things that work out, like you guys mentioned, she wanted to move out West.
Starting point is 00:22:33 But they start hinting around that she was kind of a spoiled dead. It wasn't perfect. Yeah. Yeah. And they've all had inner thoughts like, wow, Alyssa's way. easier to be around and this is better. The snow stops and they've all got cabin fever. So they head into town. Desmond's from this town. So he knows a lot of people and everyone's stopping him to say hello. But when they're trying to help like. Yeah, they're like the town out of. So and so snowed in. And so as
Starting point is 00:23:01 he's talking to people, he's realizing a lot of people need help getting out. And he's got a plow on his truck. Him and the guys agree to go help plow people out. And they send Alyssa back to the house. She's going to make dinner, keep the fire going, and then ring dong. Guess who's here? Don't know. This is my favorite part of the book. If you didn't see it coming, if you didn't see it coming, like, I don't know. Like, you totally saw this like plot twist like at the beginning. Yeah, but I kind of like this. So far it was kind of easy, you know. Yeah, it was too easy. Well, there was, yeah, a lot of easy. But to me, like, the way she addresses her. She's so like the maid.
Starting point is 00:23:44 You can go now. Just like chop, top, get out of here. Yeah. Yeah. And she should know who she is because she works for her dad's company. But that's how oblivious she was, though. That's what I'm saying. Like, I don't think Alyssa was like that high up.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Like, they didn't really. They didn't really talk about it. There was not a lot of detail in this plot. I think I think she was middle management, but I think Emma, because her dad was in charge, She never showed up to the office. She came and went. She didn't care. I think even Alyssa says that.
Starting point is 00:24:17 We worked together. Not like I worked under you, not anything like that. It was like we were coworkers. How do you not know me? Yeah, that's right. Well, but Alyssa is like caught off guard. Like she doesn't know what to do or like how to ask or like. It's awkward because Emma realizes Alyssa sleeping in the master bedroom and like, you know, it's
Starting point is 00:24:40 really uncomfortable. So Emma gets pissed off, runs into Desmond's room, slams the door until the guys get back. And then the guys come back and Desmond goes in there to see what's going on. And she's outrageously unreasonable. She's trying to kick Alyssa out of the master. She's, she wants all the guys to take her back. Like she's there. He's there to get them back. Yeah. To rekindle things. And, you know, this is their thing they did every year. And I guess California wasn't as like exciting as she thought it was going to be. I think it was just like. I'm bored. I'm not getting what I need in California. And I know I can get it over the holiday. Well, yeah. It was New Year's Eve. That's the other thing. At this point, it's New Year's Eve. They have the most awkward New Year's Eve ever. They were supposed to go out. But because now Emma's there causing all this drama, they just stay in and it's really, really awkward. And Emma kind of realizes what's going on. And then next morning, Desmond takes her to the airport, says, you're out of here. Like, go. I mean, it's. It's just,
Starting point is 00:25:41 This is his family cabin. So she's like, this thing wasn't as dramatic as I wanted it to be. She shows up. This is like the major plot twist. She's a little catty. Makes a whole evening awkward. Nothing that dramatic.
Starting point is 00:25:57 And then she leaves. No, she tries to hit on him. She's like trying to. I don't know. I expected more. I don't know because she was so bratty. Like literally running in and slamming the door and not coming out. And where's Desmond?
Starting point is 00:26:11 And because she was such a spoiled brat, that's exactly what I would expect. I did kind of want a cat fight, though. I did really want a catfight. I was expecting a little more drama. She was brady and Desmond went and calmed her down. And then they have a terribly awkward New Year's. And then he so quick and, like, I don't know, relatively easy in like drama terms that I just would have expected more, I guess. But again, like, she's the boss's daughter.
Starting point is 00:26:41 So all three of them are kind of. Well, now they're worried. Yeah. Or all four of them. Yeah. Well, they should be. So that's the other thing that's always going on in Alyssa's had.
Starting point is 00:26:50 As this relationship evolves over the course of the week, she's like, what happens when we get back to Florida? So they do get back to Florida and they realize that Emma's in the office. Dad gave her her old job back or an even better one. Who knows? And she has gotten Desmond demoted because she asked him to go for coffee. Like, who would have thought? that would happen if you were fucking all of the people in the office that something terrible like
Starting point is 00:27:15 this would go down. Can you believe it? It seems so strange to me that this would all come to a head. You know? It seems like a small company too. Weird. Let it be a lesson for all of us maybe or maybe not because why not. You know, the way this ends, like that doesn't a problem.
Starting point is 00:27:34 So basically, Alyssa's had enough. She gets pissed off that Emma has. you know, gotten Desmond demoted to the point where he actually ended up resigning. And then she marches into Emma's office with the diary. And she says, you either tell your dad to give him his job back, or I'm going to tell your dad, I'm going to show him this diary. And Emma says, well, I'll just tell him, you know, you're a hoe and you're sleeping. She's like, prove it. Like, I have proof. Long story short, Emma folds. Again, Lindsay, it's a little easy, right? Like, she's like, All right, fine. I didn't want to be here anyway. I'm going to go back to Vegas or California or wherever she was. So she decides she's going to go back West.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Alyssa goes back to tell the guys the good news. Hey, Desmond, I got you your job back. And they're all kind of crowded over these spreadsheets and things. And Desmond says, I don't want my job back. He's decided he's going to go into business for himself. The two guys are going to back him and eventually join him full time. And they, would like Alyssa to join them as well. Oh, and they're perfect. That's so sweet. They have a little Christmas family slash business together. She gives up her apartment. Yeah, a year later, they all live in a house together. And again, with these reverse harems and the ginormous beds.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Beds. I mean, you'd have to. Well, they had four bedrooms, though. They did have four bedrooms. I think they need one giant bed, though, right? Like, I don't know. I don't know. because, I mean, she was bed hopping at the cabin.
Starting point is 00:29:14 I don't feel like it needs to be in one bed because the guys aren't really sleeping together. The guys aren't in a relationship. Yeah. They're just with her. They're just tossing her like a rabbit. Well, they're experimenting a lot sexually. Like, you know, towards the end, they have some miles. I mean, as one does.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Yeah. But like, okay, let's legitimately think about this. How long do you think this relationship can last? Legitimately. I mean, we hear. about these reverse harems all the time. How long does this go until she's pregnant? There are throuples that last.
Starting point is 00:29:48 That's true. Quadruples. Like, I mean, if we quadruple, like polyamorous relationships that last quite a long time, like we know someone who has a Thruple friends that built their own house and they have their very large bed with their, you know, triple sink bathroom, like fully built house around the throuple. Oh, one husband. Is it a man? We only have one husband.
Starting point is 00:30:10 And two men. Oh, that's a good question. I might be three men. That seems easier for some reason. Listen, it works for them. They talk about children. They want a big family. She wants to have a baby by each of these guys. Like, it is, how would you know? How would you know which one it was? I guess you'd be like in vitro, right? Like just to like be like triple sure. I don't know. Seems like a lot of work. Or you just have sex until you get pregnant. You're just a one's baby. It's everyone's baby. It's everyone loves the baby. Yeah. Sure. How it would have to be. I mean, one of them is probably more viral than the other, virile. Viral. It might be viral. We don't know virus involved. They could be. No telling at this rate. But Lindsay, I think you technically got your happily ever after. I know. They're totally an ATA. This wasn't my favorite. And I love reverse theorems. Like the, I've read. That's kind of your genre. It is one of my favorites. I think this was a three-stores. our read for me. I feel like she was too easy. They didn't have to chase her, you know, and I struggled with that because it was like, he really didn't. Begging for it. They didn't chase her at all. Like, it was just like she, they didn't have to earn her. And that is probably why I didn't like it as much as when they really have to earn her. Or if there's like a second act or third act breakup and then they have to earn her that I can enjoy a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:31:40 was Alyssa was, she was a little easy for me. And not slut shaming easy, but just kind of boring. Boring. Yeah. I think that's probably fair. I would say two and a half to three for very similar reasons. Like, I just felt like it was a silver platter. Like the plot was light. There was a plot. And I think Kim, you and I were saying that earlier. Like there was a plot and I actually didn't hate it as a, you know, like a quick novella. But it just, I don't know, it just didn't bring a lot to the table for me. And that was a problem. It wasn't a novell of them.
Starting point is 00:32:13 It was 350 pages. So you're expecting some plot. I felt it. I felt it was short though, I guess. I think we read really fast. So you gave it what? Two and a half? Two and a half.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Okay. I would venture between the two and a half and three stars as well. I think for me, one, the guys didn't have a lot of depth to them. No. They were basically man sacks for her to mess around with, right? I didn't like the I could say that Orses or something
Starting point is 00:32:47 I don't know that The grossest of the male anatomy Well I was trying to keep it semi-clean Mance Lips a lot to the imagination I can We're all on our own journey Okay
Starting point is 00:33:04 No, I think they were all just boy toys for her. She came in hot, easy, ready to go. I mean, she was practically climbing on them in the office. Yeah, like, and then like the single white female role where she jumps in and takes over someone else's life. That was weird too. And then it was super weird for me. And then it was like, and I know we don't work for our Christmas gifts, but I think, feel like, like you said, Jen, they should have worked for her a little bit. And they didn't.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Then there was like the weird hot tub scene where they just passed her around in the hot tub. And actually, that might have been one of my favorite parts. I know. I know. But, you know, although I can appreciate the boiling water for cleanliness. No, I appreciated that. But hot tubs are kind of gross. It's so gross. But they have chlorine. So I feel a little bit. There's chemicals. There's chemicals. Yeah, there's chemicals to kill out whatever's not dying. I don't know. Things can, things can fester in there. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:34:09 I'm anti-hot top sex. That's where it like finally became like normal. Like she wasn't chasing them. They were like they finally connected. You just threw up in her mouth a little bit. I did. For real. So for me, she was, she was a bit, not a bit.
Starting point is 00:34:27 She was super easy. Like, and I, not slut shaming, but come on. It isn't, it isn't slut shaming. It's the writing. It was, it was just all too easy.
Starting point is 00:34:38 And it made her super easy. We're written. Sex scenes were hot. They were spicy. If you're just here for that, great. And that's what with a novella, like you can forgive that a little more because it's like,
Starting point is 00:34:51 you know, it's 200 pages. I'm just here for that. Right. But with 350 pages, you know, you're hoping to weave in a little bit of, yeah,
Starting point is 00:34:59 that extra 150 pages, I would like, and plot. A little better character development of the guys. I agreed there wasn't much of that at all. No. And I felt like you knew, you knew who the alpha was. You knew who this was.
Starting point is 00:35:10 But I didn't feel like it was like they weren't deep enough for me. So yeah, like two and a half maybe. But the spice was there. And the connection to her wasn't. No, she was up. She's hot. She's not. Hot, loose.
Starting point is 00:35:27 It was easy. She was good at her job. Yeah. I don't know. It was weird. But the spice was there. And I will give it like a, I would say it, well, I don't know, three and a half four for spice too. Because again, I'd say four. Easy. Yeah. The sex is good though. Like if you got past how it started. Like the writing of sex scenes were good. They were hot. Like everybody had their like their role to play. So yeah, I'd say three and a half to four on spice. Jen. Four. I thought. Yeah. You thought it was a four for spice? Absolutely. Yeah. Oh, wow. There was a lot. There was a lot. There was a lot. There was a lot. There was a lot. I'd say. Yeah. There was a lot. of spice. There wasn't a lot of time without spice. And I thought she did a great job on the spicy scene. On the actual, yeah, on the actual scenes. But there were just too many little weird things. Connecting the scenes together. Like the sex scenes together didn't seem like they popped out of nowhere. Like that's where the 15 pages are. I mean, she does string the scenes together in a way that
Starting point is 00:36:22 feels somewhat semi-realistic. Yeah. I would say she's overall good writer. I enjoyed the book. But again, I think there needed to be a little more character-de-up. But it was a holiday read. I mean, it's not like we're looking for some novel or anything. So holiday read, you know, it's pretty good. It was going to take it. Yeah. All right, good.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Well, happy holidays, everybody. And I was just going to say that. May your holiday be full of hose. Oh, there you go. That's a perfect way to end this episode. We'll see you next time. Until then, happy reading. Happy reading.
