Bros & Shows - "F Your Suitcase" (Summer House s8e13 Full Recap)

Episode Date: May 21, 2024

What's up Bros?? We're back with Summer House and this show is just firing on all cylinders. What a season thus far. In this episode, Lindsay attempts to smooth things over with Carl after he jumped d...own her throat for simply asking questions about Loverboy. This conversation doesn't go well either and she ends up stranded in the Hamptons with her luggage. West and Ciara finally have a difficult conversation and are quite clearly not on the same page (thanks to West...). Kyle and Amanda are still at odds after Kyle crushed her hopes and dreams in one fell swoop. Although he offers an apology, is it actually genuine? Paige and Ciara step up for Amanda and let Kyle know EXACTLY how they feel as they stand by and watch Kyle compromise on absolutely nothing. Its the Kyle show all the time and Paige gives him the read of the century. This has been a stellar season of TV and we still have more to go! Introducing BravBros Members! We finally got some sunshine. It's been gray.
Starting point is 00:01:36 I felt like we lived in Seattle the last two weeks. Yeah, that and I feel like it's just been raining on the weekends and beautiful during the week, which sucks balls. The last week hasn't been beautiful. It's just been gray every day. Yeah, but I feel like when it's gray on the weekends, I get sad and convince myself that it was beautiful all week while I was indoors. That makes it worse. Yeah, it definitely makes it worse. I'm definitely like bringing me. myself down mentally. How's your allergies? Better. Thank you for asking.
Starting point is 00:02:02 You're welcome. Oh, life update. How's your new place? New place is great. Starting point is 00:02:39 If you see anybody wearing a mustache and a bravo-centric, wearing a mustache and a bravo-centric hat, it's probably Maguta or his cousin. It could be my cousin, yeah. Starting point is 00:04:22 But let's start out with some Summerhouse. That's what this episode's all about. out and thank God this show's on because I feel like today between the two episodes we have to record is like my favorite show right now and my least favorite show right now. Well, the funny thing is I actually do not think that Jersey is my least favorite show right now. I think VPR still is. Well, that's not even, oh, are you counting reunions? Yeah, I'm still counting reunions, but.
Starting point is 00:04:46 But now I counterpoint, the first episode of the reunion wasn't terrible. It wasn't terrible, but I also don't think that this episode of Jersey was too terrible either, and we'll get into that in our next episode, which is going to be a lot of fun. because you know how we get with two episode days. Oh, yeah. This first one will be nice and clean and concise. The second one, no chance. Loopy.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Yeah, but let's get into some Summerhouse. And overall, because we know that this season has been the moched watch season. The moched watch season of Summerhouse. So knowing that, what are your thoughts? You have been along the ride with Summerhouse since the beginning. Yeah. That was your OG show. So from an OG standpoint, how does this season stack up?
Starting point is 00:05:25 Well, it definitely went through peaks and valleys, and it's really fun to see the different dynamics switch from back and forth and back and forth with the mainstays in the house. You get to see Kyle and Amanda, which, you know, I feel like we were drugged down for years about their relationship and there was not a lot of movement. It was mostly just Kyle bulldozing Amanda the entire time. And now we're starting to see, for lack of a better term, Amanda fight back a little bit. And her friends are joining in and really throwing Kyle through it to make sure that he knows this is where we stand and you're being an apple. So that's good to see. There's some comeuppance there because there's been a lot of bad behavior by Kyle towards his wife over the years. And the whole Lindsay Carl thing has completely turned every which way. Yeah, I know. So, and a lot of people are saying, you know, you have to pick a side.
Starting point is 00:06:11 This is why we don't pick sides early on. There's no side. Early on, there was a lot of really bad behavior by Lindsay. She has completely changed and she's trying to be the better person here. Carl was really going through in the beginning of the summer. And now he's completely changed as well, and he's bulldozing Lindsay now. So it's just, there's so many different components to it. And then you added all the other nice stories where we finally get a conversation with West and Sierra about where there are.
Starting point is 00:06:35 It goes terribly. We'll get into that. And then obviously the Jesse of it all with what he's going through and sharing with the audience, which is really nice and really, you know, brings us in and speaks to our heart. So I feel like this season has everything and they're partying. They are partying. They're fun again. They made summer fun again. They made summer fun again.
Starting point is 00:06:52 That's what we wanted. Before we dive in, there actually is two things that we need to discuss. Okay. The first one, have you seen the comments that Jesse Solomon has been leaving on Amanda's page? I have. Yeah, and I've seen all the gossip about. is there a romance between Jesse and Amanda
Starting point is 00:07:09 behind the scenes and it got to the point that Amanda actually had to address it and I think she addressed it in the best way possible just by laughing about it on a TikTok live but yeah that's fun
Starting point is 00:07:18 I don't care for it from Jesse's set simply from Jesse's side that's fair I just think it's kind of it doesn't look great it doesn't look great but you know what
Starting point is 00:07:28 it could be a joke that we're not in on at this point okay but still optics I got it yeah I just don't care for it every now people are saying like Oh, they'd be so nice. They're so good together.
Starting point is 00:07:37 That's the funny thing. She's married. I know. That's the funny thing is any other comment that I see about this is always, oh, yeah, you know, good for Amanda. No, not good for Amanda. Let's not do that. Like, Amanda's not commenting, but Jesse keeps leaving, like, oh, you look so hot.
Starting point is 00:07:53 I'm like, if I'm Kyle, and look, Kyle is having a horrible run right now, obviously. Yeah. So, like, that's why Amanda's part in this I don't really care about. I just think it looks slimy on Jesse's part, obviously. I don't know if slimy is the right word. I think it's just. I don't love it. That's all.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I don't know. I just didn't know if you had another take on it. No, not really. And the other thing is, because I promised our listeners, we would address it. And we need to do a quick hit on old Harry Butker. And we need to talk about the fucking speech that this man gave to a college commencement. I was floored. I couldn't believe that in 2024 we're hearing a man talk to.
Starting point is 00:08:34 He literally says, ladies, this was. one's for you. Congratulations on your degrees or whatever, but we all know what you're really stoked about. And that's staying home with the kids, right guys? High five. I thought people made it, like, I hadn't seen the video yet and people sent me, like, messages about it. I thought it was like, I thought it was a parody. There's like, there's no way that this man is out there saying this to a college graduating class. Yeah, no, fuck that dude. He's a loser. It's funny because we actually have some friends that are from the Kansas City area. And when we brought it up, because obviously it's very polarizing and a lot of people
Starting point is 00:09:09 were talking about it, we brought it up to our group of friends. And the Kansas City boys all said, we've known about Harrison Bucker for years. We don't talk about him. We don't want to deal with this. And then a clip from, I think the Pat McAfee show popped up where Mahomes is sitting there. This is months ago. Mahomes is sitting there with Pat McAfee, and they're talking about Harrison Biker. I guess he just kicked like a game-winning field goal.
Starting point is 00:09:29 And Mahomes said, yeah, you know, I don't really talk to him at all. We sit next to each other in meetings. and everybody thought it was a joke. Everybody just read into it. They're like, oh, he's just goofing around, like, kicker, quarterback. You know, they're not in the same realm. He's just goofing around. No, it seems like he doesn't like Harrison Bucker for the right reasons.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Which makes total sense, but it's like, I can't imagine being the number one team on the planet and having to deal with controversy on behalf of your fucking kicker. Here's the, like, the overlaying issue, obviously, you know, the sexist remarks. This is not a side, but like, that plays into it. He is, quote, unquote, successful because he can kick a football. That's it. Like, where are you speaking from? His mom is a physicist.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yeah, that also makes no sense. Like, I understand if you're going to do the whole, like, Christian Bible-thumping thing and say, like, this is how it's supposed to be. Yeah, maybe your mom's a minister. Maybe your mom is so deep into the church that, like, that's what your upbringing was. She's a physicist. She's a physicist. And his dad is a professor at Emory, which is a very liberal arts college. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Like, it makes no fucking sense. And he doubled down on it, too. I know, of course. They asked him about it, and he commented further and said, you know, I feel like it was taken out of context. No, it's not. And then he just explained it again in the, like, in a worst way. Because he's a piece of shit.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Yeah. Like, it was astounding. And as two guys that watch a lot of sports, the fact that a kicker is causing controversy for a team is laughable. This dude's a fucking joke. Clearly, his team doesn't even fucking like him. Yeah. It was upsetting.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Having three younger sisters and a daughter, I was pissed off. Not like that, but talking to women who just went through college and paid for tuition, and now they graduated and they get to go out and feel like what they want to do in the world with their careers or with their lives in general, you don't need some fucking asshole guy up there telling you, oh, yeah, congratulations on doing that or whatever, but this is what you should be doing. Yeah, you more or less said to them, like, yeah, you just wasted four years of your life because you're waiting to get to your actual life, which is in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Yeah. Oh, and also the people that are reaching out saying, uh, yeah, maybe don't like get into politics. Oh, yeah. This isn't fucking politics. This is not politics at all. This is society, you fucking morons. Politics is how did a bill become a law? Go back and watch schoolhouse rock. Figure it out for yourself. This has nothing to do with politics and all the idiots out there that say, that are saying it is political. It's not. One, it's not what politics are. It's not political. And two, anyone grandstanding on behalf of Harrison Butker saying he didn't say that that's what women have to do he implied that that should be their main goal in life if you want to be a homemaker if that is your decision to be a stay-at-home mother good for you by all
Starting point is 00:12:10 means do your thing that's an amazing thing that you're doing if you want to go out there and conquer the world in the business world by all means go do that that's fucking awesome it's not for anybody to say let alone some douchebag kicker man to tell you what to do yeah and the fact that he gets up there with that he has the duchiest groomed beard and the duchiest haircut and these big fucking veneers. I just, I hated him. I wanted to, I wanted to kick a football at him. He looks like his dream is to go to like a chain smoker's concert and get like VIP passes.
Starting point is 00:12:39 And like, that's all he wants to do. You know what the funniest part is about all of that? Because he also went off on like LGBTQ and like, have you heard the rumor that he's gay? Oh, no, I did see that. Somebody said, yeah, what, what happened with you and that male cheerleader back in Florida State? So anyway, no, Georgia Tech. Anyone out that hasn't heard this rumor? Allegedly, let me just say that right now.
Starting point is 00:12:59 to cover our own asses. Allegedly, Harrison Butker hooked up with a male cheerleader at Georgia Tech. So do with that what you will. I feel better. I feel like now we can get into Summer House because I wanted to talk about that with you. I feel warm up for a show that we didn't want preamble for. Yeah, exactly. Well, we needed to address it because that is just fucking brutal.
Starting point is 00:13:19 What an idiot. But back to Summerhouse. We have a little juxtaposed scene here. We got Amanda on one side. We got Kyle on the other side with Danielle and Carl. Harrell and Amanda's with the rest of the house. And what really bummed me out from Amanda's side of things is the fact that she said, I'm not surprised that he reacted that way and referencing him on the boat pretty much saying,
Starting point is 00:13:41 your hopes and dreams don't mean shit. And that sucks. The fact that she went into that, and that's why I said last week, I think that was almost a test where it was like, let me just see how you'd react to this. Like, I'm not doing this tomorrow, but let's just put a feeler out there. And you didn't surprise anybody.
Starting point is 00:13:55 You acted exactly how we all thought you would, which is a shame for Amanda's sake. And on the other side, Kyle's out there, and he's got Danielle and Carl, like, bending the knee to what he's saying, not understanding what happened in the conversation. Like, Danielle's like, imagine building something and getting no support. In what world have we seen no support from Amanda? If anything, she's been nothing but supportive. So watching those two outside be like, oh, yeah, like, Kyle, you built an empire. Well, Danielle knows what she's talking about.
Starting point is 00:14:25 She's a CEO at the end of the day. Dude, like, I just, those two out there that could not have been a worst two people to go to in that moment, to get like a wake-up ball. Well, that is, honestly, that's like the, the big thing that I took away from this entire episode. We've seen at multiple times either something bad going on with Lindsay and Carl, to which Kyle says, well, you know, it's going really bad over there. At least it kind of takes the focus off of what's going on between me and Amanda. Yeah. And then you see something bad happen with Kyle and Amanda. and Carl sits back and goes, well, look at what's going on over there.
Starting point is 00:14:59 At least me and Lindsay are kind of like out of the eye, the public eye. Now we're seeing them come together, and they're essentially just gaslighting each other into believing that their toxicity and their own relationships is working. Yeah, but if you look at the other side, the people they're complaining about, the ones that they're saying are the problem, i.e. Amanda and Lindsay, Amanda's never been a problem. Lindsay has had four great weeks in a row where she's been the supportive one,
Starting point is 00:15:24 the calm one, the one trying to talk through things. You know, the timing in which they're trying to put together this gaslighting campaign against them could not look worse on their part. It's just a tough scene to watch, honestly. But you get a quick check in with West and Jesse and just more about Jesse's got his appointment that following week. So he's still very emotional, but just a heartfelt moment between boys. Yep. And you got to love when you see the boys support. A lot of love there.
Starting point is 00:15:48 And it was just their friendship, regardless of how West is going to botch this thing with Sierra and whatever Jesse. he's out there doing with married women this friendship at least is sweet yeah that's a good point but the gang goes out again this is a moment kyle where you probably should have just stayed home i well i don't know if he should have stayed home at this point he was already drunk he just decided to keep going i just like nothing good is going to happen if you stay in the house you're just going to continue to argue with amanda and we're going to have to watch that we go to bed get go to bed or like find a dark room somewhere and just kind of hide out in there just hide or like go like lay in the pool or something until morning i don't know what you're going to get one of those
Starting point is 00:16:26 Go to the poolhouse. Yeah, go to the pool house. Yeah. I don't know if they have a pool house anymore, but they do. That's where the bar is. Oh, they still have the pool. Oh, that pool house, yeah. Maybe get one of those tents that we saw in like the third or fourth episode.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Just pitch a 10 out there. Oh, yeah, you have tents. Yeah. That's what you should be doing. But I was floored. It was 11 p.m. And they're like, who's going out? I know.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Who? That show is this. That summer house summer's fun again. But the next day you get Lindsay and Carl and they are recapping the conversation they had the prior day that went terribly because Lindsay was asking legitimate questions just trying to understand where Carl is now with his career and the lover boy thing so they're trying to recap and go over it and Lindsay starts it out with I understand your need for positivity yesterday was simply me trying to gather info and if you watch it back she was not being antagonistic it really was
Starting point is 00:17:22 hey what about this are you sure about that I would argue that she was and I know that this is a big sticking point for Carl and what he wants from Lindsay, I would argue that she was being caring in that situation. That's what I thought, too. By asking about the lover boy and how you're going to feel about going back to lover boy after how tumultuous it was last year when you tried to do that. That was coming from a place of care to make sure that you're good before you make this decision because it seems like you already made up your mind there and with this relationship,
Starting point is 00:17:49 but that's a different thing. You've already made up your mind. You're going to go back to lover boy. You're just basically just putting a toe in the water that is Lindsay in saying, Hey, you know, this is kind of what I'm thinking. Yeah, you don't like that. No, that sounded really weird. Yeah, that does sound really weird.
Starting point is 00:18:01 I was kind of hoping you would gloss over that one. I didn't like the way that one came out either. No. Let's rephrase that one. Yeah, let's rephrase that one. You're essentially just putting your toe in the water of how Lindsay's feeling. That's a little bit better. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Anyway, to try to gauge her reaction to see, okay, yeah, I've already made my decision. I'm going back to Loverboy. Lindsay's just concerned that you're making the right decision for your career, which is good. That's what you want in a partner. You don't want this whole, and I don't really understand this either. You don't want this whole like,
Starting point is 00:18:33 hooray, good for Carl, you're about to make a decision potentially to maybe go somewhere. Like there's just so many maybe still out there. You haven't made your decision. So what is she supposed to be excited about right now? Oh my God, babe. That's so great for you.
Starting point is 00:18:45 He's saying that he wants softness and tenderness. And I think that in that scene the day prior, you got that, at least from Lindsay. Now, Lindsay considers softness and tenderness. you've known her for how long like that is how she is yeah like at some point but that's where i get in the middle and not in the middle in this situation at all but where we say this is just a relationship that never should have happened right because what carl wants out of lindsay lindsay cannot provide although what we're seeing from her is soft and tender it's just that's as soft and tender as you're
Starting point is 00:19:16 going to get so you have to compromise it some like along the way on carl's side of things like Lindsay's been the same person. The one thing you can not say is that she hasn't been consistent. Yeah. So you both know who these people are, right? Yeah, and that is as far as the relationship goes. And look, right now we're on Lindsay's side because of the way that we're watching Carl go through all of this. When it comes down to their relationship, they both thought that they could change the other person.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Yeah. Carl thought that he could maybe make Lindsay a little more soft, tender, caring, whatever. Lindsay thought that she could maybe have Carl have a little more drive in his career and actually figure it out. Those of us who have been watching for long enough know that is who they are. They are the opposite of those things. And we can even recognize that Lindsay yesterday, that's more caring than I've seen her be towards really anybody. We've seen her in past relationships. She never really budges one way or another. That's her actually checking in to make sure you're making the right decision, not for her own selfish needs, but because she wants to make sure that mentally
Starting point is 00:20:14 you're good. Well, what we see in this scene when they're talking in bed the following day, is just showing you where Carl is like he's done because no matter what she says because she intros it I think just trying to clear the air like hey let's get through this and let's get on with our day yeah no matter what she says Carl claps back and then goes on to make the PowerPoint comment and we go back to when Lindsay was actually presented with a PowerPoint from stavi like way back in the day so that was a dig an unnecessary dig and everything that he's doing is like oh well I guess you're just going to have to like come to terms with being with the asshole for the rest of your life, I guess I'm always mean to you.
Starting point is 00:20:50 It's like, I don't know where this snide shit's coming from, because she's just trying to have a conversation again. And that just goes to tell you, like, he is so checked out of this relationship, which argue, again, you should have fucking said something about it before this. Because now it's getting to a point where it's detrimental to everybody, you, Lindsay, and everybody in the house. Yeah. So you should have just addressed this the perfect time. And this is what I go back to every time I go to, like, where this shit fell apart on
Starting point is 00:21:16 Carl's side. It's like, dude, you drop the ball when you got back from your parents that didn't talk about that. When you finally got the nerve to have the conversation because Amanda told you that's going to be on TV and that's when you decided to do it, it's already as awkward as it's going to get. In that moment is the time to address all of your shit. Hey, we don't need to do this in the living room. Let's go to the bedroom alone because we got some real shit to talk about. And maybe you go through it. Maybe you work through it.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Maybe you don't. But at that point, like at least everybody knows where you stand because the blindsiding thing, Again, I don't think that she was flat out blindsided by the engagement being called off at the end of the summer, but setting it up constantly, like, things are okay. But when you're having side combos and in your own head and confessionals, it's the exact opposite end of the spectrum where everything's horrible. And you go and talk to Kyle and you say, I'm so fucked. Right. That's where the blind side comes in because the shit you're leading on with Lindsay is, no, no, no, like, we're okay. My parents love you.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Like, things are, it's just, I'm overwhelmed. That's not enough. you've had opportunities now and she's trying to have conversations with you as your future spouse so that's where it's like you got a side with Lindsay though because she is actually being calm
Starting point is 00:22:27 concise and just trying to talk and he's just so checked out he's incapable yeah and a couple things here just of note one you and I both hate this when you're arguing with somebody don't do the fucking smile and laugh and then patronize them and then especially don't say well how does that feel
Starting point is 00:22:43 that's what you do to me all the time it's not what she does even if it is like you're not proving a point yeah no you're just stooping to a level that you already said that she disrespected you now you're just disrespecting her exactly that doesn't get anything done either uh the second thing that i wanted to talk about was if you're going to do this like if carl did already make up his mind you have to do it after she makes those comments in the beginning of the summer agreed then you come back and you say look you're doing this you're doing this you're not supporting my career i don't know where any of this is going i talked to my parents and they did this and that and whatever.
Starting point is 00:23:15 You can't do it six, seven, eight weeks later when you talk to your parents and then just start to unfold everything. That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. So, yeah, it's just the whole thing is, it just looks in a really, really bad look on Carl's part. Yeah, it's an absolute mess, but. Starting point is 00:24:35 I like to be prepared. That's why remember 988, Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline. It's good to know just in case. Anyone can call or text for free confidential support from a train responder anytime. 988 suicide crisis helpline is funded by the government in Canada. But moving on from there, we get quite possibly one of my favorite scenes I've seen on Bravo because it was such a long time coming. The right person was there at the right time to say it.
Starting point is 00:25:06 And a lot of times in the moment where you need somebody to step up and just drag somebody and read them to filth, the right person's not there. And somebody steps up and they fumble the bag. No, this moment was perfect because you get Kyle and Paige and then Sierra joins the combo and they're talking about Amanda. And Paige and Kyle have a relationship as we've seen where they can have some tough conversations and talk about the relationship. So she's the right person there.
Starting point is 00:25:31 And she's like, don't you want her to pursue something? And he says, of course, of course I do. But I need her to perform better for lover boy. And she explains why it's so important. to her and then Sierra comes in those two the one two punch of Sierra and page and this was just chef's kiss it was so good because Sarah comes in hotter she's like everything's always about you and she needs her own thing and you take lover boy out of it take the company out of it and that's what he needs to do entirely from his marriage not just from a you don't need it or work for
Starting point is 00:26:01 you anymore standpoint but more so looking I feel like he looks at his relationship as he equates his relationship or marriage to how successful lover boy is rather than how's the marriage doing oh yeah this is my business over here this is my marriage like separation of church and state yep and he doesn't do a good job of that not at all where he really really drops the ball and he keeps on fucking doing it is he then belittles what amanda said to him and amanda said that being genuine she wasn't taking a dig or a shot at lover boy or you you insecure piece of shit what she was trying to say is i need my own thing and he goes you know what i'm just going to quit my job and become a DJ.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Great. Great. Now you're equating her shit to a passion project again. You're saying that it's equivalent of just, oh, I'm going to go start
Starting point is 00:26:46 a sound cloud. Yep. That's bullshit. Yeah, that's definitely bullshit. And the fact that he's still arguing with Paige and Sierra,
Starting point is 00:26:52 when I thought that Paige came in normal. She did. She wanted to find out what was going on. Obviously, it's Paige. She talks to Amanda all the time. Amanda let her know
Starting point is 00:27:01 everything that's going on, but she's still at least having a conversation with you, and you escalated it. You had already escalated it to the point that when Sierra walks in, she comes in really hot. She may have not come in that hot
Starting point is 00:27:12 if you didn't already escalate it with Page. Just because she's asking questions about her friend and the conversation that you had, that the rest of us, by the way, are watching on TV saying that's deplorable. Don't talk to your wife like that. Don't treat her like that. So now he's trying to play this victim as if he's, and we saw it the night
Starting point is 00:27:28 before when he walks out to his car and goes and cries in the car alone. Like, dude, stop. Like you, what, you threw a sandal outside? You're all pissed off because your wife just wants to do something that makes her happy. Yeah, and she checked you by saying you're concerned about yourself, what you are? Yeah. So, like, I don't, it's just nothing's ever going to make any sense as to why he's doing the way that he's doing it.
Starting point is 00:27:48 And I'm happy the page was there because she called him out for everything that we saw. You're a selfish baby. Stop being such a little boy. And the fact that he brought up the DJ thing, I actually read further into that and say, you just want to be like you're 28 to 30 years old again. You want to go be a DJ somewhere. You want to go do things like that. That might have actually been his sentence.
Starting point is 00:28:05 That might have actually been what he wanted to do. Yeah. Like, you're a reality. TV star and you started an alcoholic brands. Like, you wouldn't have had one without the other, vice versa, whatever. You want to go be a DJ, it would have been the same thing. Yeah. Like, it's, as a shot
Starting point is 00:28:18 to DJ James Kennedy. Oh, hey, he's turned it into a successful business. But as Paige gets a little bit more heated as this is going on, because Kyle's not registering what she's saying. She goes, you can't even notice that she hates her life. She's the reason that you have lover boy. And you don't compromise shit.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Yep. And he says something along the lines of like, you don't know how real it is or this and that and she's like well i listen to her cry like is that real enough she literally puts it all into perspective hopefully for kyle to where he can hear like this is what's actually going on because when these conversations happen these are the people that she talks to and she says just let her move to jersey and drink her coronas and start a swimsuit line even if it fails and like that's the biggest part it doesn't matter so much the what it's the why and for you kyle to listen to your
Starting point is 00:29:08 your wife say these things, listen to her best friends say these things, and finally call you out and say you're a big, selfish piece of shit that never pays attention to what she wants, you're so wrapped up in lover boy that you can't see as ruining your marriage. Also, if you're so concerned about her work output, hire a creative director that you can say, I need you here at 8 a.m. And then you're done at 5. Yeah, that's the other thing that I really truly don't understand is you couldn't even have this conversation with your wife and say, well, you know, you do have some free time because if this is going to get you up in the morning to go do that, you can go do that for a few hours and then you can check in because she's a creative director
Starting point is 00:29:44 at an alcoholic brand. I don't know a whole lot about that, but I don't think you have to be there nine at nine, 10 hours a day. I don't know. Probably not. I have no idea. And if you do want somebody to do that, then go hire one. Exactly. You don't need Amanda. I mean, maybe you do because she does great work, but let her go do this if she still has other time to do it. And if you had sat there and said, yeah, you know what, why don't you try it out, see what happens, As long as you're still doing things at Loverboy, like, I don't care if you can find the time to do that. I'm not going to try to not be too demanding. Maybe I'll hire somebody part-time.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Like, there's so many different ways you could have gone through this instead of just immediately shutting her down. Absolutely. But I'm so glad that Paige stepped up. It was, like I said, it was one of my favorite moments. It's everything that I think everybody's wanted to say to Kyle. And you actually got to watch somebody do it and articulate it perfectly. You got Sierra coming in to help out, which was perfect. And like I said, it was the right.
Starting point is 00:30:37 person there at the right time and we don't get that all the time. So I was thrilled. But the aftermath, Kyle goes to talk to Carl and he's like, I'm done. I can't even articulate like how I'm feeling about everything. I did actually think that Carl was pretty good in this moment because he didn't immediately just jump to Kyle's aide. And he did say to him like, yeah, I hear you. I get everything you're saying, but the company can't come first. Yeah. And that's, that's the number one thing that I think needs to get through Kyle's head is lover boy has replaced your marriage. And that's not a successful recipe for a marriage, a relationship, a friendship, any personal relationship, period, when you mix business with it, like, Shooter and I are the outlier. The fact that this is, it's, it's an, who knows, it's an enigma.
Starting point is 00:31:22 But here we are until that'll be the breakup of the Brof Bros in like 15 years. I don't know. And you don't let me go be a creative director somewhere? Yeah, when you start an alcohol company and you want me to work for you. I want to do a swimsuit line. what would you call it shoot suits shoot suits yeah that works nailed it that works but moving on we get lindsay and gabby and they're talking about carl and her big thing is you know and this is another aspect of it as well she's like he wants me to be soft and tender and all these different
Starting point is 00:31:51 things and cater to him meanwhile i've been doing the heavy lifting in this relationship for the past year while he finds himself and he's paying a career counselor to help him figure things out And we come to find out the career counselor was actually to work through his lover boy shit. And then you're going back to that company, which again would raise red flags for your partner. That makes a lot of sense. Who is also probably the person you're venting to about lover boy for the past year. But when she says it like that, like I've been doing the heavy lifting and he wants me to be soft and tender and all this shit right now. I don't have the time.
Starting point is 00:32:23 I'm planning a wedding. I'm making the money. I'm doing X, Y, and Z trying to support us and get us through this phase. So, yeah, you're asking a lot of her when you're not carrying your own weight. But we get to Kyle and Amanda and they're out by the pool and he introses it with, I'm sick to my stomach and I misunderstood, but I understand. Uh-huh. Sure.
Starting point is 00:32:44 Yeah, but I did appreciate, I guess, when he says, you know, why on the boat could I have not just said like, just do it? And that's where I start thinking because in your heart of hearts, I don't think that's who you are. Yeah. And this moment for me, yeah, it's a touching scene, but how many times have we seen Kyle be a fucking moron, put on the waterworks, tell Amanda how much he loves her, what he's going to do to change, fix things, X, Y, Z, whatever. Fast forward, nothing's changed. Nothing's changed
Starting point is 00:33:14 at all. And honestly, the, I mean, we can at least say that the timing of all of this is probably not ideal. If lover boy is really suffering and you definitely need Amanda, and now she's saying that she wants to go do other things, that might suck. But when it comes down to it, oh my God, I just got your voice. Holy shit. When it comes down to it That's going to translate so well on podcasting No, but when it comes down to it You're going to sit there
Starting point is 00:33:42 And you are choosing your company over your marriage Yeah, that's really what it comes And you can say that you understand as much as you want I think you're just saying that you understand Because you just got absolutely chastised by her friends But what you do is you come out there and you say I wish that I could have done this But like I'm just thinking about the company
Starting point is 00:34:00 All that says to me is I'm choosing the company's well-being over our marriage as well-being because I can put that on hold for a little while I fix the company and then I can come back and be a husband like that's not the way to do it. No, and I think what frustrates me the most
Starting point is 00:34:14 about this marriage in particular is Kyle will get in a confessional and complain about communication, right? That's their big problem. They don't communicate well. If you lay out a bullet point, let's pull out a PowerPoint. Let's do a PowerPoint about it.
Starting point is 00:34:29 If you lay it out, Amanda has told you exactly what she wants to the T for your future. She wants to move to the suburbs, do her own thing, have kids. That's it. Which, by the way, in your 40s, married,
Starting point is 00:34:46 fairly reasonable. So for him to claim communication problems doesn't make any sense. It's a layup, dude. Here's what you need to do if you really, really prioritize your marriage. And him saying that he can't run lover boy from Jersey's the dumbest shit I've ever
Starting point is 00:35:01 heard. Yeah. Him claiming that New York's the center of the universe. You have to be there. It's the it scene. It's such a cop out to me. And it just shows you where his priorities lie. If you really gave a fuck about your marriage, you would bend somewhere.
Starting point is 00:35:13 You have not compromised on anything. And Amanda's so cool and calm that you just kind of keep keeping her at arm's length. And for the time being, she's been rolling with it. But you're starting to see a shift where she's not cool with it anymore. And good. You shouldn't be. So I'm curious to see what this is going to lead to. I mean, they were on Watch What Happens Live.
Starting point is 00:35:33 He was in the audience like a month or two ago. And then she was on recently. He wasn't in the audience. Right. So I don't know. I don't know. I feel like this is a much deeper issue. But we'll see how it plays out.
Starting point is 00:35:45 But we move on. And we get Carl and Lindsay for a quick convo. And Lindsay's going to dockers. I don't know. It sounds like a bar on a dock maybe. Sounds like it. Something like that. A bar.
Starting point is 00:35:56 But she's going there. And again, like he takes it to a personal level. out of the gate. She just needs time away. This has been a really bad weekend. She's been drug twice. She needs a little time. She's going to go with the girls and have a couple drinks and come back to the city. You don't need her to drive home. He's like, well, you didn't think about me in your decision. Now you're making it like it was a personal dig at you to not drive home with you, which I really don't think it was. What was the actual issue that he had concert tickets or something that night? So he had to get back to the city? That's what I think I
Starting point is 00:36:25 read. He had something going on that night. I think it was a concert. And he had to get back to the city then and there then go okay does she have to be back that's what i'm saying no does she need to bring her bags with her up to this bar and then go back to the city with it no you can take them back you're going like it's not a big deal he just makes it so much bigger of a deal to the point that he leaves and doesn't take her fucking bags i couldn't believe he actually left the pettiest thing i've ever seen in my life and it didn't even deserve to be that petty no she was just being normal and she you have been up her ass about all of this shit for the last like, what, two, three days, just hounding her with bad news after bad news, starting
Starting point is 00:37:05 fights with her when she's just trying to understand, and now you're going to be the one to get all up in arms and leave? It just doesn't make any sense. It makes sense to me that Lindsay would want an afternoon to herself after what you've done in the last couple of days. You wanted a whole Friday to yourself because the Fridays weren't going so well. Yeah. And also, wouldn't you, in this moment, maybe a nice drive home alone to, like, reorganize your thoughts might help? Throw a podcast on, maybe a little self-help podcast or something. Just put something, or just like a little, have a good think. Yeah, think down the road and just like recap the weekend.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Stop and get a Gatorade on the way home or a bubbly burst. Yeah, hey, get a bubbly burst. But, yeah, it was bizarre. And the fact that she even had to ask him about the bag, like, he brings up the bag. And she's like, what do you mean? He's like, well, what do you do with your luggage? It's like, you live together, bro. Take her shit back.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Like, that's such a weird, petty move. Yeah, and to have, like, you leave, and then West has to run upstairs and be like, oh, yeah, why would you carry these bags down? Yeah, no, West, let me get them. Yeah, dude, it was just such a shit look, but you get a really touching scene between Jesse and Cheryl pre-appointment, and I could feel the nerves through the screen. Yeah. And they're both concerned about what's going on. As we know, Jesse had found a lump, like two weeks prior to this, so he's going into this a little bit more nervous than he has been in the past. It's also the big one, I guess, after five years.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Yeah. If there is none or no cancer, then you're much less likely to have it returned. So this is a very, I don't know, this is like a real moment. And I appreciate that Jesse has brought us so long for this journey throughout the season and been so open. And a guy that's not a vulnerable person has been open enough to be vulnerable on screen. Big props there. We always like to shout out our real moments. But before we get the news of how his appointment went, we get to West and Sierra Hors.
Starting point is 00:38:56 spec riding and for me I'm watching this scene I'm like this is it this is the story I knew it was going to happen now yeah I did too but there was a part of me watching it that I was like this is the start of their fairy tale relationship and then they're going to get married and have kids and we're going to get to watch their kids grow up on TV and they're going to have their own reality TV show West and Sierra take Mont where they're there where's their Montana and they open a ranch in Montana because she loves hiking and horses too and It's just, it's like Yellowstone without the, without the drama. Although I did see that if the super volcano underneath of Yellowstone explodes,
Starting point is 00:39:32 that all of the Midwest would just kind of disappear. The Midwest. Yeah. Where, Yellowstone's, yeah, I know, but like the Midwest, it would add volcanic ashes. Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay. Yeah, I have heard about Super Volcano under Yellowstone. We're due, apparently.
Starting point is 00:39:47 We're due for, I think there's like seven super volcanoes throughout the world that are due. There's a lot of things. right now so at this point just fucking pull the trigger somebody why not just get into a relationship check it out but they have a lovely time sierra is like i mean this if there was a moment that you could have asked her out this was the moment like this was a great date yep she loves shit like this you're firing all cylinders and i thought that it was going that way because he's like you know i want things to go a little bit further maybe come out to missouri you know we can date intentionally.
Starting point is 00:40:25 It just shows that they have not thought this through either side. Not even remote. Sierra seemed a little more prepared than West did. West was fumbling all over the place. He doesn't know what he wants to do. He has no idea what he wants to do. But to ask her to go to Missouri to say if Thanksgiving was tomorrow, I would have you come with me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:42 And then when you're faced with the question of, well, what do you want? You don't start off by saying you're scared. Oh, you got to get your shit together. Actually, you know what? No, I take that back. You can start off by saying you're scared. But you can say, look, I'm scared. care to do this, but I know
Starting point is 00:40:55 that this is what I want. That's a good way to go about it. That's a great line to go about it because then you're showing a little vulnerability, but you're also showing a little commitment, saying I'm willing to go over that because I like you so much. Yeah, I'm going to take the risk for you. Yeah, he doesn't do that. It's pretty much every question or a statement that Sierra has, West has
Starting point is 00:41:12 potentially the worst answer of all time. I can see you as a girlfriend, but not tomorrow. I've got to get my shit together. But you're going to take her to Thanksgiving tomorrow. Do you meet? Yeah. But she's not your girlfriend? Like, it's crazy. And she's She, you know, and this is, to her credit, again, like, she's been slow moving in this thing. We're not really sure where she stood.
Starting point is 00:41:31 But when she explains her stance, I understood it a little bit more. Sure. This is why I'm not jumping into bed with you because of all of that. And that could be a ramification from her shit with Austin back then. And she's a little more guarded now because she doesn't want to feel stupid. And in this scenario, she would have been made to look stupid. She would have been made to look stupid. She would have been made to look forward in anything.
Starting point is 00:41:52 And, like, I don't love his confession. where he's like, you know, I just love doing my thing and like being me. That's great. There's nothing wrong with that. Fine. But you're stringing her along for the summer. You can't have it both ways. No, you can't have your cake needed to.
Starting point is 00:42:04 You can't also point out like, yeah, you know, the summer thing is kind of fun, but like I would like to take it to the next level and then say, but not right now because I need to get my shit together. Yeah. Then what are you doing? I don't know. And at least she just flat out says, if you can't cut off other women or get your shit together, let's save all the cute shit. And I was like, fuck, yeah. Like, just boom, right there. But it even goes a step further where she is so understanding about this whole thing
Starting point is 00:42:30 that she's like, look, I can't expect him to not talk to other women because we're not having sex. I get that. It is what it is. But this has now, this has an end date now. There is now a timeline in which this needs to either move forward. To the summer. Or it's not going to. Oh, Carl, Lindsay's wedding.
Starting point is 00:42:46 That's a cut off for a lot of things, apparently. Mutine is not a statement, but a knowing glance, a sweet rebellion, lighthearted and laced with wit, a gesture made for oneself, discover the new fragrance, mutine, now available in Canada. The last scene we get is a tough scene, honestly, and that's Jesse getting the news, and during his exam, he obviously brought up the lump that he had found. His doctor found another abnormality in there, so they need to run more tests. He's going to get the results back. I was confused maybe that day, maybe later that week.
Starting point is 00:44:54 I'm not really sure. I was more concerns that he said, yeah, they'll just send something through on the app. That's what they do now. Yeah, no, no, no. Like, I want to call. You have a portal. And when they get the updated test results, I know from experience, not me, obviously, but somebody I'm very close to me.
Starting point is 00:45:12 And like, they will send your results to the portal before doctor reviews them even. So you can look at them and not know what the fuck's going on. and then you have to wait for the doctor to review them, and then they let you know all the weird shit you're reading, whether it's good or bad. It's very, very nerve-wrackard. That's awful. Yeah, not great.
Starting point is 00:45:29 He's streamlined these processes. I feel like we're going backwards in technology. I feel like it is streamlined. We're using technology to make things worse. It is streamlined, but I just, I would argue, don't share the results until you have the explanation of them. Yeah. And you're left to look through them with no medical degree,
Starting point is 00:45:44 despite everybody out here thinking they have medical degrees, but that's another, that's a different podcast. But, uh, yeah, Yeah, very nerve-wracking. Very nerve-wracking. So we're going to hopefully hear about it next week. Imagine we would, yeah. I really hopes.
Starting point is 00:45:57 I hope they don't drag this one out for too long just because we like Jesse, and we're concerned about him, and we want everything to be okay. So we're thinking about you. Tees and peas, Jesse Solomon. Really appreciated, obviously, him having his mom there and, like, walking through. But even that last line that he had while walking away with his mom when he said, look, like, people are going to ask, is this real. This is real.
Starting point is 00:46:15 I know. Yeah, that's so. It is so real. And, like, I appreciate, again, that he, especially, as not a very vulnerable person took the time this season to bring us along this ride because fuck we we care about you jesse solomon we don't we want you to get better but on that note we got some questions to attend to so uh our newly inherited question master i have relinquished my throne but i haven't ever relinquished my throne this is i'm trying to have a moment right
Starting point is 00:46:44 now and you just belittled it so we'll save it for another time you're still the interim go ahead No, you're the interim. Go ahead. No, you're hubris in that moment just spoke for itself. So we're going to save it. You're still the interim question master. Maybe I'll figure out a way that I can do questions again after that reaction. So, so matter of fact.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Do we kiss? I can read the questions. Oh, boy. All right. So starting this off here, we've got Obright, Sarah asks, whose side do you feel the cast will be on at the reunion? I'm assuming this is Lindsay and Carl. I think you're going to see a pretty solid split,
Starting point is 00:47:21 but I don't think it's going to be an even split. It's going to be like a 60-40. You're going to have Kyle Daniel. I think there's going to be some non-committals. I think you'll have some, I think there'll be more non-committals. I think there'll be, I think you'll have the ride or dies on, I don't even know. I think you'll have, you'll Kyle, Daniel. I don't know about Daniel.
Starting point is 00:47:37 That's what I'm saying. Kyle, I don't know either because Kyle, he claims to be friends with Lindsay. He says horrible things about Lindsay, but claims to be friends with her, too. I don't know, actually. That's a good question. Right now. If we go recency bias, Team Lindsay. If you go full season, I would say down the middle.
Starting point is 00:47:52 If you go beginning of season, team Carl. Very confusing. Very, very confusing. This is a great question. From Billy Deal. Should Kyle look at Jacks as an example of what happens when you're an unsupportive bitch? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Honestly. Every, every dude that has that kind of attitude and outlook on the world or relationships should look at Jacks as a cautionary tale. Yep. Sarah Pilarty said who has the most toxic relationship on Southern House or Summer House. Jesus. Southern House. You did Southern Charm earlier. I did by accident. Yeah. Anyway, sorry, Sarah. Who has the most toxic? Why did you say that so mean? Sorry, Sarah. Sorry, Sarah. It's on her fault. Thanks a lot, Sarah. Who is the most toxic relationship on Summer House? And why is it Kyle and Carl? Do you think they do?
Starting point is 00:48:42 their friendship is very interesting it is a very interesting you throw in the lover boy of it all last year and now what we pointed out today watching this episode I don't know man there's a lot of toxic relationships in that house though I don't know I mean that look that's a valid valid uh yeah it is yeah I think so uh John Cotelli asks is this a tipping point for Lindsay's friendship with the girls
Starting point is 00:49:08 I think she's been working towards that for the last couple of weeks here where she's been getting closer and closer with them. And I think that they're seeing what's going on and they feel bad. Yeah, I don't think you've ever seen Lindsay this close with the other women in the house before.
