Bros & Shows - GO THE DISTANCE! (Part 1 of 2)(RHOSLC Full Recap)

Episode Date: October 29, 2024

What's up Bros?! RHOSLC was so good this week that we decided to break it down into 2 separate episodes. Angie is throwing a Mob Wives party for her anniversary. She invites Lisa and Meredith despite ...having some issues with the both of them. Whitney has lunch with Meredith and apologizes for her behavior in Milwaukee before revealing that she knows who is actually behind the Ali Baba rumors. Bronwyn and Mary have had it with Heather and think it's time she got called out for her lies. Britain has a new man, but gets surprised by Jared Osmond at Angie's party. The party itself is one of the more action packed events that we've seen. Angie calls out Heather for leaking secrets to Lisa, Heather calls out Bronwyn for doing exactly what Heather did... Whitney goes after Lisa about the Ali Baba rumors only to have Lisa threaten her 'source' with legal action and then set her sights on Justin... This season rules, RHOSLC is awesome. Starting point is 00:00:51 From this moment on, none of you are safe. New episodes every Wednesday, wherever you get your podcasts. As there's a drive in a deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a... Oh man, it's 8 o'clock. And so that'll make it a... I don't need the spotlight.
Starting point is 00:01:13 I shine just fine. Hi, I'm Karma. And yes, I am a bitch. Brov Bros. Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Brav Bros. Your favorite podcast from The Bros for everybody. For whoever wants to listen, I am your co-host, St. Russell. joined as always by the one and only
Starting point is 00:01:32 MC Goots. What's up, dude? We're really in the thick of it right now. You could say that, but in the most positive way we have been in a very long time. Yeah, I'm talking about the birds, right? That's the beautiful thing.
Starting point is 00:01:46 It could be the birds. Bravo. The Eagles look great. Victory Monday, by the way, and like a legitimate victory Monday. That was the best game we played since the Super Bowl, I think. Yeah, yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:01:58 I mean, other than... Wasn't that great of a game. but yeah no but i think that was like that's the best we've been and then on the flip side of our other life because you know we have a bravo football everything meets in the middle bravo is awesome right now bravo is incredible right now and i'm not just talking about the shows that are on right now because there's one show that we would like to forget right now see how it goes the other three fantastic phenomenal just really enjoying everything this episode that we're going to talk about today salt lake was one of the crazy
Starting point is 00:02:30 housewife episodes i think i've ever seen it's one of my favorites that i think i've ever watched it's what it was crazy too because it seemed like it was so long i thought like an hour and a half it felt like it was the longest episode ever was it a 45 or a 54 i think it was a 54 okay so it was a little it was a bit longer but still there was just so much going on and it was insane to watch because every time that you thought that they were done there was another thing going on i figured they were just going to cut that mob party which i think they are kind of at the end and give us a to be continued So they can continue next episode. They're probably still going to do that.
Starting point is 00:03:03 There were still so much content. So that was insane. O.C., just watched that today. Holy shit. There's a lot going on there. Potomac's incredible. New York, you know, whatever. But not only that, they announced real Housewives of London.
Starting point is 00:03:15 We got the Southern Charm trailer today. Like, there's so much going on. And for those of you out there that want to hear our take on Ladies of London, sorry, Housewives of London. I've done that 15 times already. Probably going to have to do a couple of rewatch episodes of Ladies of Ladies of London. London to get the temperature. If they continue, well, yeah, I guess for the feel of the city.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Just the fit. And I'm not talking about a full, well, I'm not talking full rewatcher. I'm saying, let's, let's get the scope of the scene so we're prepared. I guess we could just rewatch like every housewife trip to London because there's at least like four or five of them. That's also true. We could just do that. But either way, we're going to break all that down.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And if you're not a member, make sure you join the Brov Bros members. Steal tell them how to do it. You go to that link in our bio. Click that link. It'll take you to our page. You can sign up there or at the end of this episode in the episode description. You can click that link as well. It's $5 for the month, $50 for the year.
Starting point is 00:04:06 As Shooter said, we do a weekly news recap on there. So you can head on over to that. We have two new episodes this week already. I've been a little backlogged because of the baby. They are up today. So you can listen to those. And we will have the third episode. So you'll have three episodes this week to listen to because we'll have our news episode out probably on Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:04:26 And that will be talking all about Real House. Housewives of London, Southern Charm, potentially some guests we may have from Southern Charms, since we know a few of those people. So if you want to have more content, some exclusive episodes each week, and by the way, they end up being full episodes because me and this idiot can't do short episodes. We're physically incapable, apparently. So get yourself an extra episode weekly. Sign up for Bravo Bros members.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Good job. I've gotten better. Yeah, that's why I threw it to you. Appreciate that. Practice. Yeah, it's called the assist. It's called the assist. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:04:57 But, yeah, we've got a lot to get into here. So I don't know if this is all going to fit in one episode. I thought of that. So I figured to give this episode the respect it truly deserves, especially considering not everything popped off at the end. Everything exploded at the end, but there were shit happening throughout this entire episode. So we're going to do a good old-fashioned two-parter, but a legit two-parter. So you have a start and a finish of each episode.
Starting point is 00:05:21 This is part one, obviously. So let's jump right in. Why dilly-dally? Yeah, no preamble. We chat dilly dally. Well, I guess we already preamble a little bit. But let's, let's, wait a minute. If it's the preamble and the post-amble is when you're talking, just ambling?
Starting point is 00:05:39 I guess. I've never thought of that. What's an amble? What's an amble? Only, wow. Should we Google? Now, nope. This is how it starts.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And then we take 30 extra minutes. Amble. Let's start ambling. What if that's a word? Let's get into the amble. Oh, that sounds more. That sounds better. Maybe it's a noun?
Starting point is 00:05:55 Not a verb. Because you're not pre-ambling or post-ambling. Well, I guess you kind of are. Good amble. Oh, fuck. Is that an adverb? It's an adverb, yeah. God damn it.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Grammar, rocks. Schoolhouse, rocks. Do you go to school for English? Can you just figure this out? I went to Ohio State as an English major. I transferred to junior college. I cannot tell you, unfortunately, what my associate's degree is in. I went only to get drafted for baseball.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I think it's something in humanities, I think. Not ambling. Okay. But I am, hey, that's the thing. We have made careers now out of being amblers because we amble to you every week. So enough with the preamble. It's time for the real amble. Are you still listening, guys?
Starting point is 00:06:45 Anybody there? Turn us off. I would have. You imagine if this was like our first episode ever and we just started off like that? We'd have no, no list. I don't think I'm going to continue this. These guys are fucking stupid. Let's get into Roslick.
Starting point is 00:06:58 We start off with it. And this is something that Rosslik does so well. And it doesn't always land with other franchises because they try it. But I love when they do the cinematic scenes. And we get like a good old fashioned mob intro. This is very close to home for us living in the Northeast. We love mob movies and shit like that. So loved that whole setup.
Starting point is 00:07:17 She's got her like second in command coming in. She's like, I got some jobs for it. Got some names. Go take care of these people. Well, that guy was a security guard, I believe, which gets me very excited. Same here, because we also get a mention of security guards later, and we have said after watching Potomac and Giselle using William, the security guard, there needs to be security president at every party just to have the option of kicking people out.
Starting point is 00:07:42 I got so excited about the thought of security at every party. Well, if he's there and Lisa's causing a scene, we might get that. Does Lisa deserve to be kicked out? No. No, actually. She doesn't. She's just defending herself. However, Whitney deserves to get kicked out.
Starting point is 00:07:55 If security's there, let's use security. Was Adam, the podcaster there? He deserves to get kicked out. He is doing. Wherever he is right now, he deserves to get kicked out. He's doing a lot. He got Justin, too. Apparently getting sued.
Starting point is 00:08:07 But we'll get to that. Don't worry. But we start out with the invites, and Lisa's a little taken aback that she's invited to the party because they haven't spoke since Milwaukee, and Lisa's confused about where they stand as a friendship. And as this all shakes out throughout the episode, I am too because what we've seen from Angie Kay and her dealing with this relationship that they have, I'm still on Angie's team where I don't feel like she's being outwardly
Starting point is 00:08:35 rude. I feel like she's drawing some lines in the sand and creating boundaries because we have seen friendships with Lisa be very one-sided since she's been on the show. So where do you, like, are you flipping sides at all? Are you seeing Lisa's side of it? because I'm trying to, because I like Lisa, I still don't. I understand Lisa's side of it, only because if we want to get down into the nitty-gritty, it's more that Angie seems to be friends with Whitney.
Starting point is 00:09:03 You think, oh, okay. That seems to be where the break is happening. All right. And I don't think Lisa is necessarily done with Angie Kay because she's friends with Whitney. She's not doing that, and how many times have we seen that and all the shows across Bravo over the years. It seems to me that this is way more nuanced. and there's no communication about what the fuck's going on until a fight happens. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:24 So I think Lisa is probably confused. Angie seems to be confused. I'm confused. That's my point. So I really don't know what the hell's going on. And it's really hard to pick sides from our analytical standpoint because we don't know what the hell's going on. I don't think that anybody does. So it's just based off of what's currently happening.
Starting point is 00:09:42 And I don't, I still don't really see a whole, like a huge deal out of Lisa bringing up Angie's daughter in the middle of a conversation. because she didn't do it in a derogatory way. She just said you use her as like a scapegoat to get off the phone with me. It's not that big of a fucking deal. I think it's just the reference of the kids is always, yeah. You know that Lisa knows what she's doing there. Like she's trying to take, that's the thing. Yeah, well, I think she's trying to take a dig.
Starting point is 00:10:03 She's, I think she's trying to take a dig, but also people are focusing on the wrong aspect of that. That means that Lisa knows that she hurries her off the phone to go talk to her daughter or whatever. Yeah, of course. We all, I think we all agree. I think if any of us listening right now were friends with Lisa Barlow, you know what a phone call Lisa Barlow. And they talked three times a day. Yeah. So of course I'm going to make up an excuse to get off the phone with you because I'm tired and my eardrums hurt. Yeah. I need to move on with my life. I can't be talking to you for hours on end. So yeah, I get both sides kind of
Starting point is 00:10:34 just because I'm as confused as Lisa seems to be. And I understand Angie side of it because Lisa's probably an exhausting friend. Well, Bronwyn, she describes it perfectly. I think what's happening here, and we'll talk about it a lot more later, Lisa should have never been privy to the video game comment. Correct. It shouldn't have happened. They are friends. Although there was a camera in there.
Starting point is 00:10:55 You're right. You did see it. But that's something that should take part in the reunion then. Hey, I didn't care for when I saw that on TV. As Bronwyn said, and don't get me wrong, it's making for great TV. Heather being messy, I'm not saying don't do it. I'm saying just in the grand scheme of things. As Bronwyn says, she said something because she was heated and talked some shit and now it's
Starting point is 00:11:14 getting used against her. They've been friends for 15 years. They've both definitely talked shit about each other behind closed. absolutely. But I do appreciate that she gets the invite. I appreciate Angie's confessional. She's like, yeah, we've been friends for a very long time. I want her there. It's awkward right now, but we'll figure it out. And I'm sure they will at some point. We got to check in with Jack Barlow, who's feeling a lot better, crushing a burger. Harry, Henry, not Harry, Henry, Henry, Henry's funny. Henry's very funny. Younger ones very funny. Very funny. Yeah, I like Henry a lot. And I'm glad that
Starting point is 00:11:45 he reaffirmed to his mom, because we think Lisa is a good mom. No, we've never seen anything to point in a different direction. She gives a shit about her kids very clearly. So kids play video games. Yes. What they do. Yeah. Or they're on fucking YouTube.
Starting point is 00:11:58 That's the big thing. Oh, yeah. When she has time on her iPad, it's all YouTube all the time. So, yeah, we live in a technological world. It's a technological generation. When Poppy was three, she could use a fucking iPad. It's crazy. So, point being...
Starting point is 00:12:13 Also, he's in a fight club, apparently. Which is awesome. That's sick. Yeah. I love that. Yeah. He's really cool, which we don't see a lot in Salt Lake, so good for you, Henry. But we move on to Whitney and Meredith, and they're making up, I was surprised to hear Whitney just straight up apologize, but then it made sense to me.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Yep. She's got somebody else to go after now, so now Meredith, you're off the hook, because I've heard who's actually behind this. Sure. Who have you heard it from? I've got a contact. As we've said, this is why content creators shouldn't get involved, and later on is actually why. why we shouldn't get involved because of the potential ramifications of this. Yep.
Starting point is 00:12:52 I'll save it for later. That's probably a part two episode. Yeah. But she's taking this whole thing as retaliation for the podcast. If Lisa is actually behind it, she's mad at me because of what I said. And now she's going after my business with Alibaba and this post that I've seen before, by the way, which is news to me. She hasn't said that before.
Starting point is 00:13:12 And it wasn't that big of a deal. Now it's a huge deal. It's being put on TV. So now I'm a little nervous. but I think I've got it all figured out, Meredith. And Meredith, I don't know if this is a play. I'm assuming it is. She's always calculated in her movings.
Starting point is 00:13:28 She says, you need to talk to Lisa and figure this out. And you guys just need to get on the same page here before this gets crazy. But don't go after her if you don't have the proof, which I actually, that was actual advice for Meredith. That's very good advice. It's extremely good advice. Make sure that you vet your sort of. because especially when you start dealing with accounts and Instagrams and shit like that, you don't really know you're taking people at face value.
Starting point is 00:13:56 It could blow up in your face. When you're going after somebody like Lisa, you have to have all of your ducks in a row because even when you do, she's still going to say you're wrong. So if you're going to go after, make sure it's clean and neat. So I actually appreciate that for Meredith because she was trying to be a friend there. But at the same time, I'm like, you know this isn't going to go well. You know damn well how this conversation is going to go. Whitney's not going to approach it the right way.
Starting point is 00:14:18 She's going to say the wrong thing. Lisa's going to get mad and rip her head off. It was basically a copy and paste from Meredith's conversation to Lisa's conversation, the way that Whitney handled it. She did not change one iota of information. She didn't try to change any sort of tactic. She did it in a way that she could bring up something quickly and then immediately bring up the bad news.
Starting point is 00:14:36 That's how Whitney handles things. It's just fucking bizarre to me because none of it seems to make a lot of sense. We're finding out that Lisa and Meredith both knew. about the Alibaba accusations potentially weeks and weeks ago. Right. They've already talked about it. They already know what's going on.
Starting point is 00:14:53 And the thing that I keep coming back to is Meredith and the sprinter van saying, you didn't reach out to me for advice on how to run your business. Why would I tell you what's going on? Are you so offended about it? I don't get it. I still don't understand that.
Starting point is 00:15:04 It's just not adding up. And I'm not saying, look, we're certainly not saying that the podcaster was correct in his dealings and he knows what the fuck's going on because we can tell you, we don't know shit. No.
Starting point is 00:15:15 We get the same DMs probably. that the housewives get just on a much lower scale and most of them are probably bullshit. Yeah, we read lots of crazy accusations and people seeing things. I was at this restaurant I saw these two people and they were with this third person like we can't
Starting point is 00:15:30 There are so many affairs in this world apparently according to social media. We can't corroborate it so we don't fucking say anything because it's a bad idea. It's a terrible idea but still something's just not adding up and I'm trying to leave the whole accusation out of it. I'm just trying to look at it as
Starting point is 00:15:46 Okay, who could have potentially leaked this? It's most likely somebody on Reddit that has an issue with Whitney that just threw it together. It could be true, it might not be true. We don't know yet. It's probably not Lisa. It's definitely not Meredith. They're talking about it because they've seen it and they seem to be on their social medias all the time. I just think that there's a piece missing here somewhere.
Starting point is 00:16:08 So, allegedly, another one of these housewives has a stake in a liquor business. I'm not sure which one. I haven't done my due diligence yet, but I have heard through the grapevine that there is somebody else involved with a liquor company because that was the big sticking point. This person
Starting point is 00:16:26 owns a booze company. That would be the funniest thing ever. If it's this total, like, you know, it would be really funny. It's not even a Salt Lake housewife. No, it'd be hysterical to me if it's like Brittany, who has like 1% of a vineyard in Salt Lake.
Starting point is 00:16:40 And she's like, oh, yeah, I forgot. She's got enough going on. Rudy has way too much going on to even have it. Any time for that. But that's my point, because it would be completely innocuous. She wouldn't be intentionally tried. She'd be like, oh, yeah, I remember that post.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I sent it to you guys, right? God, that was so funny. And that's how she gets involved. That would be so funny. The thought that crossed my mind was that it could be a completely different housewife on a different franchise. Just somebody that Whitney crossed at like a Bravo con. I didn't even think about that.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Decided to take her down. Bethany Frankl? Yeah. It's a skinny girl. Yeah. That would be really funny. What if she makes a guest appearance out of nowhere? It's like, and here's Bethany.
Starting point is 00:17:14 I was like, what? It's Kyle Cook with Loverboy. Kyle's starting to get involved in Housewives, drama. I wouldn't be surprised by that one at all. It wouldn't be either. Oh, this is it, the day you finally ask for that big promotion. You're in front of your mirror with your Starbucks coffee. Be confident, assertive.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Remember eye contact, but also remember to blink. Smile, but not too much. That's weird. What if you aren't any good at your job? What if they dim out you instead? Okay, don't be silly. You're smart. You're driven, you're going to be late if you keep talking to the mirror.
Starting point is 00:17:48 This promotion is yours. Go get them. Starbucks. It's never just coffee. Oh, hi, buddy. Who's the best you are? I wish I could spend all day with you instead. Uh, Dave, you're off mute.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Hey, happens to the best of us. Enjoy some goldfish cheddar crackers. Goldfish have short memories. Be like goldfish. Bank more oncores when you switch to a Scotia Bank banking package. Learn more at scotiabank.com slash banking packages. Conditions apply. Scotia Bank, you're richer than you think.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Well, that's cute, Chuck, and we get to another strange scene. These are hard to watch, and I don't know if we need to be seeing these scenes or not. Bravo shouldn't show this. Right. there's no reason for it I looked it up he like he went to rehab he went two weeks ago oh man oh really that yeah like three weeks ago
Starting point is 00:18:50 I think it was reported by like USA today okay well like Bravo Bravo is not doing themselves any favors they're not doing the viewers any favors do we really need to see these scenes like yes it obviously humanizes Mary but Mary is way more human this season right and she's ever been right that's enough we don't need to see these scenes I just it just feels really weird for us to watch
Starting point is 00:19:10 these yeah and you know I will say like how Mary's trying to cope with it is that part's tough to watch too because you could tell that she's going through it on the other end of it she's just happy that he's home and safe now knowing that he went to a treatment center like that's all we're going to say about it I hope that he he gets the help that he needs and we see a a different Robert in the future but yeah these these scenes are just really tough but Bronwyn arrives at the house and this is why I like Bronwyn a lot because I like that she states as soon as I saw Mary's Dolce and Gabana white jacket.
Starting point is 00:19:45 I knew we were going to be tight. I like that she flocks to wealth. Yeah. I don't know why. Wealth and fashion. Yeah, wealth and fashion. It seems pretty simple to me. I like it.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Yeah, they both like it. She walks into that crazy Dr. Seuss house and she's into it. Yep. So they hit on those levels. And this is a very funny pair. I like this duo together a lot. But they start talking about their similar situations because Bronwyn's sharing what her daughter's going through, Gwen, at the time with her,
Starting point is 00:20:12 grandparents her father or sorry because they're talking about what Gwen's going through with her grandparents right now whether she wants to meet her dad's parents or not and that whole drama but Mary actually can resonate with it she says oh I have the same thing Roberts never met my parents and then I start getting confused because then I'm like okay well did he he met the grandfather the great step grandfather dad yep is that that That's Robert's dad. I think. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Because that, yeah, because Robert Jr. Robert Sr., so Robert Sr.'s the grandfather. That's where it's tough and hard to compare Mary's familial situation with anybody else. But it's nice that they can. A weird family tree. It's, I don't know if you'd call it a tree. I don't know what it is. But they at least can connect on this level where it's like, oh, I understand what that's like.
Starting point is 00:21:06 I'm going through that with Robert Jr. as well. So, again, another thing that these two can connect on. But the big thing here is them talking about the drama in the group because they're both pointing the finger at Heather, which I like. And we've talked about this in the past with Heather specifically. Heather's sweet spot for both her own personal mental health and performance on the show as a likable character is comedic relief and confessionals kind of staying out of it being a shoulder to cry on or the voice of reason at times. When Heather tries to get messy, it tends to get very messy because she goes, like, head first into situations and picks aside and is immovable, even when she's wrong. So they both point at Heather and say, why is she keep doing this? Every time that there's smoke, Heather's behind it.
Starting point is 00:22:01 She's putting fires everywhere. She's starting little shit. She's being sneaky here. She claims you really good friends with Angie Kay. Then she goes and tells Lisa what Angie Kay said about her. what's her deal and why does she get away with this? Bronwyn's fed up. She's been here for what?
Starting point is 00:22:16 A month? Yeah, just about. But my big takeaway from all of this is Bronwyn's fucking killing it. Dude. Bronwyn has, we set it after the second or third episode whenever they were in Milwaukee and Bronwyn had like a bit of a meltdown where we weren't sure if she had a tough enough skin to actually endure what was going on.
Starting point is 00:22:32 She had a couple of good one-liners, especially in her confessionals, talking about the state of everybody, how they treat each other differently, but they're doing the same thing and how strange it is, we weren't sure how she was going to come back to that. Here, we find out that she has been holding on to what Heather said to her at, that wasn't ziplining that first time, right? That was like an adventure. She wasn't that ziplining.
Starting point is 00:22:55 It wasn't ziplining, but whatever they did in that first step, the ropes course, yeah. When Heather said in the middle of everything, and this is why we, things that we don't want Heather to do is interrupt somebody else while they're talking to point something else out that they did. That's not when Heather does her best Because it always gets her in trouble Yes Bronwyn's been thinking about that since it happened
Starting point is 00:23:14 And she's got some sort of an axe to grind When it comes to Heather She must have found out from Lisa At the zip lining course That Mary had beef with Heather Oh clearly And she's using this to her advantage Let me go sit down with Mary
Starting point is 00:23:29 Compliment her house Which immediately means that we're friends And then I can sit down And we can go after Heather together That is something Bronwyn does It's a really good move She's been doing that since day one. I know.
Starting point is 00:23:39 She was going from group to group and saying things. She learns very quickly, too. She does. And her biggest hang up with the whole entire group is, look, ladies, she recognizes the point of the show. We're messy. Yep. You're allowed to be messy. But you guys seem to have this double standard where you can be messy.
Starting point is 00:23:57 But the minute someone does the same thing, you call them out. That doesn't sit well with me. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to call all of you out. Yeah. Because I'm new enough that you don't know all of my shit. I can start pointing fingers and starting to create some unrest in this group, which she's doing an expert-level job of. Yep.
Starting point is 00:24:15 So I'm really enjoying her. Absolutely perfect. Love the companionship between her and Mary. I think that's going to pay off really well. But we keep trucking, and we get to the Mob Wives Party, which you would think we're close to the end. This is not even close to the end. Not even remotely.
Starting point is 00:24:32 But we get a big, like, one week earlier moment. And it's Angie and Sean. and if we remember Sean's last experience with Meredith was Meredith bringing up these rumors about Sean and what he's been doing around Salt Lake City, which is very damaging to him, his business, his family, his daughter, you name it. It's a pretty fucked up rumor to be spreading.
Starting point is 00:24:56 So in the last episode that we saw him, he said Meredith's not allowed in this house. But Angie wants to keep the peace, which she's good at as well. she's good at she's not one to keep people out of things which we need more of in the housewives world you can't hold on to grudges and just not invite people to things other than Shannon and Alexis that one makes sense to me
Starting point is 00:25:17 that one's perfectly fine totally he's a friend of who cares he's a friend of no one gives a fuck but the vast majority of these shows we get very frustrated when it's a cast trip and lo and behold somebody's not invited and now we have to watch a split scene with the one person not invited with their significant other doing something totally stupid and complaining about the fact that they're not on the trip, yeah, or not at the party or whatever the fuck it is. So I'm glad that she was just inviting her. I'm glad Sean's cool with it so they can at least move forward, but I do love that Sean, Sean must be listening to
Starting point is 00:25:47 our episodes in the future because he's like, well, let's get security there. Yeah. Just in case you got to kick her out. I'm like, hell yeah. Add a boy. Call William. Got to do it. William's in Potomac. He'll come over. But back to the party. And Meredith is also surprised by the invite. and this is this is confusing to me because she's talking about the whole situation in a confessional and references the mob wives party says that's kind of weird to be doing that for your anniversary but however you want to celebrate your family why is family in quotes no fucking is that a mob joke like i think it was a mob joke that's how i took it but given what you said about the family last year this implies you're still talking shit
Starting point is 00:26:34 about what's going on amongst their actual family. Yep. That's, yeah. Very rarely do hand quotes hit that hard. And I was sitting there thinking about hand quotes for a very long time. Hand quote family is brutal. That's tough. What is what do you mean?
Starting point is 00:26:48 Yeah, like, what do you mean by that? Because it has to be deeper than just a mob joke. Yes. And I just couldn't figure out exactly what she meant. Especially because last year you kept referencing, you wouldn't say it, but you were referencing this awful rumor about Sean. And now you're putting family in quotes.
Starting point is 00:27:04 That's not a good look. But that's what Meredith does really well is like not a lot, but so much without doing anything. She didn't say, she said family, but just went, boop. If you're not watching YouTube, you don't know what that boop. Whatever it is, she's definitely caught up on her DMs. That's my takeaway from us. Got up for the correspondence. She knows what's going on.
Starting point is 00:27:22 At least she thinks she knows what's going on. And I thought it was a really funny move because this is, again, we get the scene with Lisa talking to J.B. I didn't really expect to be invited to something like this, but I guess that's nice. Meredith says something similar, and then goes to where confessional and immediately trashes them. Yeah, family.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Love that. I do too, but I need to know. I need to know what she means. It doesn't make sense to me. I mean, it does, but it could mean so many different things. We're never going to know exactly what she means. Because no matter what, even if that pops up at the reunion, she's going to say it was a mob joke.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Yeah, family. Oh, it was a mob joke. It was a fast infuriary. joke. Yeah. Family. Yeah. I was making a Vin Diesel quote.
Starting point is 00:28:04 God, I wish. Yeah, that would be great. We need more of those. If we got one Fast and Furious quote, I would be, I'd be good. Oh, I meant the movies. Need the next one to come out. I need as many as they want to make, honestly. They left us on a cliffhager last time.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Ludicrous went to space. I know. Tirese in a car. Yeah. In a car. I know. They built. Ludicris.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Because they get the dude from Friday Night Lights. who is now working on remote control cars and the guy from, he was in Tokyo Drift. Yep. Sean. Thank you. And he learns how to build a space car. Yep.
Starting point is 00:28:41 Yeah. Do you know what the best part is? That ludicrous was just a very lowly mechanic that ran street races that became the most prolific hacker in the history of the United States of America? Not that. Oh, okay. Best part? There's no time lapse.
Starting point is 00:28:53 When they go to pick up Sean in Tokyo, it's just like the movie just ended. But he's 15 years older. I just say, I forgot that, but he walks up, you're like, whoa, that's not the same guy. He's old as fuck now. Like, I, that whole franchise, I know we're going off on a tangent here, but if you haven't done yourself a favor, and first, well, you have to go into it with one, no expectations. Yeah. And two, understanding what you're watching, because it's the most outrageous movies ever made.
Starting point is 00:29:22 They use a grappling hook with a car to swing over a cliff to save somebody. Yeah, it's so good. And then, again, they go to. space in like, like a Saturn or like a Dodge Neon. Saturn would have made more sense, but yeah. The Saturn would, yeah, it's spacey, I guess. And a Mercury. We're tangenting again.
Starting point is 00:29:43 But yet, watch, watch Fast and Furious. Do yourself a favor. But RIP, uh, I figure, fuck, if he was it, Paul Walker. Oh my God. Yeah. Yeah. But anyway, Lisa arrives to the party and Brittany is shortly thereafter with a man in tow. Could it be Jared Osmond?
Starting point is 00:30:02 No, it's A-A-Rod. This is Aaron. I'm sure it's not Jared, though. Mary's not. Mary's not. Mary's actually very convinced. I was laughing out loud at that. That was incredible.
Starting point is 00:30:12 And the fact that she's able to go all around to everybody around there keeps saying, yeah, no, it's Jared. It's Jared. Hi, Jared. But like, if you're married, do you, like, you can't play Mary for that. We've been sitting here listening to Brittany, drone on and on and on about Jared Osmond. She shows up at a party. Mary can't be bothered with any of this. Every time that it's brought up, she has the same reaction. Why are we listening to this? Can we please move on? I don't care. I don't care at all. So she's not really listening, but she knows enough to know his name. I know, but it's just... Of course, it's Jared. It's got to be Jared when he walks in with Britney. Agreed. But the best part about it is even with image proof, they have the Google images up. She's like, I don't know. That could still be the guy. They kind of look similar. They look close enough. If they look close enough. If Jared had a beard, I would have a hard time distinguishing.
Starting point is 00:31:04 That's fine. Yeah, they look close enough. With Amex Platinum, access to exclusive Amex pre-sale tickets can score you a spot trackside. And maybe it just breaks the ice and clears the air if there's a little.
Starting point is 00:32:30 a little bit of awkwardness going on, but Heather walks here, because I know him. Like, oh, fun. Yeah, yeah, I made out with him. It's like, oh. Okay. Aren't we collectively as a group
Starting point is 00:32:39 trying to get her to get over Jared Osmond and she brings a date to the party and the first thing you say to her and her date is, hey, hey, remember when we played Tom Salaki, bro? Up top. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Have fun with your date. My fucking sloppy seconds. I'm out of here. This is, I would say that this exact moment is when the episode started spiraling out of control for me. I think she, Heather was the caveat. Heather was the caveat for that one.
Starting point is 00:33:02 It immediately just starts spiraling out of control. It was really hard to follow. But moving on from there, we get a nice speech from Sean and Angie thanking everybody for their, and it's 25 years. You know, that's not a little drop in the bucket. It's nothing to scoff at. It's nothing to scoff at. I love the fact that they, them and their family. Their quote-unquote family.
Starting point is 00:33:23 But to their credit, they call out Meredith in their speech. We made it through a lot of rumors and nastiness. fuck yeah you throw that jab at her and then you get the dad this sweet old man comes in and he goes the reason you guys are doing so well is because i gave you my blessing i can't wait to do this to get another 25 years i'll be here and then he goes hopefully yes i love a good death my favorite part about his speech was just when he looks over and goes you're now you're one of my favorite son son-in-laws he's like one of how many do you have one and two how long did it take to get there but he He was a little, you didn't know what to think of the guy.
Starting point is 00:34:00 And they showed the picture of Sean. First of all, handsome fella. Yep. All right, not going to take that away from him. He looks like Fabio. Oh, I was going to say Andre Agassi, but yeah. Oh, he does. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Wow. Deep pull. I like that a lot. That's actually spot on. But, yeah, I got Fabio instead. Fabio works, too. Yeah, he has a hairdresser, so. Dude, great lots.
Starting point is 00:34:21 He had great hair. Don't get me wrong. Great hair. Stylish guy. I get it, Angie. He's a handsome dude. So made sense to me, but I love. the dad's speech and
Starting point is 00:34:29 this sets the tone for everything in the night and like between Heather and then her taking the job at Meredith the whole group is there but you can tell there's just cracks everywhere. Yeah. A lot of tension. There's a lot of contentious relationships at the
Starting point is 00:34:46 moment. There's a lot of people stir in the pot but I think that it all comes to a head because of Bronwyn and not in a way and this is what she's doing so well and why she's going to stand out as one of the better first year housewives i think across the board if you can point at better ones i would love to know but she's definitely in the running for one of the best because of the way that she's able to
Starting point is 00:35:06 play this game so masterfully and not do it to where she's the one causing the shit so everybody can be like this is all brownman's fault she came in here she's fucking everything up because what she's doing is talking to people and asking them hey what do you think about this oh you didn't know well i wanted to get your side before i told anybody else. And she did that in the beginning with the Whitney, the comment in the car when she's talking, she says to her, it was so iconic. She says to the other group, it was trite. So she's just, she's very good at knowing what to say, knowing how to say it, knowing who to say it to, and then kind of stepping back and letting it play out. And she even said that to Brittany, I think, at the first episode, that Brittany doesn't know words. Yes. And it seems like a bit of a throwaway comment, but now we're noticing, Bronwyn is doing a good job not mincing her words. not going up to different people and saying wildly different things. She tries to keep it pretty much on the same page and then makes a little bit of a turn here and there just to kind of see what their reaction is.
Starting point is 00:36:08 But at the end of the day, Bronwyn's just doing what all of the seasoned vets are doing? Yeah, but doing it better on it. I don't know. Yeah, right now she's doing it better. And look, there's going to be some downfalls here and there. She's going to get caught red hand. She's going to stumble at some point. My favorite part about this is she's not doing the typical, I'm going to just leave this here and walk away.
Starting point is 00:36:27 she's still part of it. She stays, and we'll see that, as we get into that in our second episode of the recap, she stays during those conversations to get more information, but she's not the main culprit. People aren't going after her.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Heather kind of sees through it and goes after her, but Heather's like a deer in the headlights at that point. So it's really tough to go back at Bronwyn when the other person's still pissed at you. It's also that Heather's trying to play the same game,
Starting point is 00:36:51 but so much more clumsy at it than Bronwyn is. And it just shows you, Bronwyn's played this game before, not on camera. Yeah. She knows what she's doing. Heather is trying to take a page out of her book, but she has, this is her issue
Starting point is 00:37:05 every season when she starts to get involved. Back to the black eye with Jen Shaw, even before that, with the beauty lab stuff and that drama, she gets into bad spots because what do we talk about all the time here, everybody? Contingency plans. You got to know where things are going to fall short. Who's going to hear what, how they're going to react to it, and you got to make sure that you phrase everything right.
Starting point is 00:37:26 So you're not talking shit, you're asking questions. Bronwyn does it the best. Meredith, a close second. Meredith leaves herself open because there's always more stank on it. Yep. Hand quotes, a perfect example. Stank. She says one thing, but just the way it comes out, you're like, ew.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Whereas when Bramond does it, you're like, I know you're being shady, but you're being very nice. You're raising good questions. These are all valid, but you're being shady. And it just took her a little bit of time to adapt. And that's what we love to see here. You've got to adapt, evolve, overcome. That's what makes a great housewife,
Starting point is 00:38:02 and Bronwyn is slowly, slowly, not even slowly, because we're only, what, six episodes in? She's quickly rising to the top of this entire group. We might see her close to the middle next year with Angie, and maybe she can show Angie how to hold the snow flates, or she doesn't look somewhat out there. Somebody has to, the love of God. Do they, though?
Starting point is 00:38:20 No, it's better this way. It's her. Yeah. You know, she's very genuinely her, where she doesn't know what to do with her hand. She's Ricky bobbing. the snowflake and just, I thought I was going to be on the end. Why am I here?
Starting point is 00:38:32 Why am I here? I'm supposed to turn my body? Nope. You want me facing you. Get on? I don't know about this. Jeez. But honestly, I mean, there is just so much that we have to get after.
Starting point is 00:38:45 This is when the episode starts spiraling for me. Yep. And it seemed like every other minute something else popped off and I had to keep picking my head up. Like, I'm trying to keep notes on this thing. I had notes going. I noted this one? I noted this one. I actually, not only did I note it, I noted it during my second watch. You double watch now. I had to double watch. Now, obviously, you know, you can skip a little
Starting point is 00:39:05 bit here and there for 10 seconds, but I had to double watch because there was so much going on, and I wouldn't make sure I didn't miss anything. There's a lot of nuance, and we will get into all of it in episode two of this recap. The last thing I need to ask you just because we didn't talk about it, Brittany, back to Aaron, she's like, when Jared and I break up, since they do it so frequently. I get back on the apps for a little bit. I go on like three dates a night. Her reaction to Heather making out with her man, that's the best part about Brittany because she's so aloof. She has no issue. She's not awkward. She's not like, why would you bring that up right now? She's like, I had no idea they knew each other. What a small
Starting point is 00:39:43 town. I get it. That's fun. It's wacky. Salt Lake. Right. Hey. Hey. Hey now. But we'll get into everything else that happened and this spiraling party in episode two. so just keep on listening because episode two is out. You don't have to wait. It's right there. Yeah, go click on it. Do it. Why are you still here?
Starting point is 00:40:06 We're not. Bye. Bro, bros are out of here. I'm Amy Nicholson, the film critic for the LA Times. And I'm Paul Shear, an actor, writer, and director. Starting point is 00:40:28 Yeah, like, Amy thinks that, you know, Joe Pesci was miscast in Goodfellas, and I don't. He's too old. Let's not forget that Paul thinks that Dude, too, is overrated. It is. Anyway, despite this, we come together to host Unspool, a podcast where we talk about good movies, critical hits. Fan favorites, must-season, and Casey Mistoms.
