Bros & Shows - Pumped for The Villa (Vanderpump Villa Episode 1 Full Recap)
Episode Date: April 9, 2024What's Up Bros?! Steel here reporting live from Riomaggiore (no big deal) and we are pumped to bring you Vanderpump Villa's first episode recap. This show is very Below Deck-like as far as the set up.... New guests weekly, the staff prepares for the guest. We have managers, kitchen staff, servers, housekeepers etc... and they all work alongside one another to give the guests 'the best experience possible'... The cast of characters is over-dramatic, messy as hell and over the top. And we love it. Marciano and Hannah are the toxic 'couple' even though they're on the outs because Marciano cheated (think OG Jax and Stassi). Andre and Telly are the bartenders, Andre the gentle giant and Telly the misunderstood mixologist. The kitchen staff consists of Anthony and Caroline, they're great and all business. Stephen the Event Coordinator who is upset that Eric the manager, got the managing job despite them both interviewing for it. By the way, Eric is nuts. Talks to himself, makes absurd demands and changes LVP's plans regularly. There are more cast members but we get introduced to them along the way. The gang is gearing up for a surprise engagement at the Chateau and lets just say things don't go smoothly night 1. At all. Like its a complete disaster featuring fights, screaming, disorganized chaos and it is so entertaining. It is an easy watch and man we are hoping this show stays entertaining. One of our highlights is Lisa Vanderpump playing the role of Lisa Vanderpump. She commits to the brand like we have never seen before and it is so fun to watch (at least for us). I thought you're going to try to work in the villa.
I should have Chateau Villa Goots.
There we go.
That's good.
That feels right.
That feels better.
So we are going to do a little bit of a different format here.
We're going to record a bunch of episodes about Vanderpump Villa and get the
out to you next week while Steele's enjoying his honeymoon, enjoying Italy.
Hopefully some nice weather, no earthquakes.
hopefully no earthquakes yeah we had one today i know in philly yeah i didn't feel it
i tell yeah you felt like bummed out that you missed i'm pissed why because everybody else was talking
about it like what the hell well the house the dev was in the basement um and the house started
shaking and she was like should i come up i was like yeah probably i was like i don't know
what's going on and then we thought it was pipes maybe but it turned out to be an actual it was a
4.9 that started in jersey and yeah it was a 4.9 in the richter scale sure yeah the rickter scale
Magnitude, yeah, you guys.
There you go.
4.9 on the Richter scale.
Yep, there you go.
So it was, it was weird.
I thought that the house, maybe the pipes went, and then I was like, nah, I think this is actually.
All of the pipes at one time just started shaking your house and then exploding?
Well, for the record, you have listened to our washer.
That's fair.
Okay.
It's gotten better.
So we had the pump replaced, and it has gotten better.
Okay.
All right.
That's fair then.
Yeah, it was really funny because obviously it wasn't that big of a deal, but people are going to make it out to be a huge deal.
Like, oh, my God, what's going on?
The world's ending.
Yeah, the last earthquake, I think I was actually, I was on the beach, too.
So that was kind of interesting because the sand just started vibrating around me.
I'm like, that's kind of cool.
I feel like that's probably the safest place to be unless you get the tsunami.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And there's nothing you can really do.
Once the water starts going out, you're screwed.
Maybe not you start running and try to get to high ground.
I've seen the videos.
Is there high ground at the beach?
You get to a building, yeah.
Jersey, well, the building is where if the building comes down.
You take your chances in the building.
Yeah.
Would you rather stand on the beach like an asshole, like walking out, like going, oh, the water's going away?
I time it perfectly.
I could probably dive through it.
Through a tsunami.
You know how like if you fall from like a high place and you just want to like survive the fall into water?
You throw something like a hammer down or something, which I do.
You break the water tension.
For some reason they always say throw a hammer down.
Like am I carrying a hammer?
No, the actual thing is throw your shoe because you probably will have a shoe.
If you can throw it hard enough, like you need to break.
So the water tensions on time.
Yeah.
I know.
I understand all of that.
that. I just always got stuck on the hammer thing because I'm like,
who has a hammer?
Well, if you're at a high altitude over the water, maybe to start bringing a hammer.
Maybe you're a carpenter.
Yeah.
Anyway, um, so yeah, no, I feel like I could just like, maybe I throw like my sandal and
then I jump into that spot and like get through.
No, you're not worried about the water tension when there's a wave coming.
You're worried about the fucking wave.
You don't break the tension of a wave.
I don't know.
I think I could.
I would make my body straight enough, like if I dive like a pencil.
I think then you're just like fucking.
in somersault through the wave.
I think I have a better chance of surviving it that way than I do from
outrunning it.
I think that as soon as you see the water receding, you turn and run and try to get
up high.
I think I have a better chance in surviving.
I'm not following your lead if this happens.
That I will say.
If I bury myself in the sand.
Then you'll drown.
What are we talking about here?
I swim up.
I can't tell if you're being intentionally facetious or if these are your dumb ideas.
I don't think I'm ever going to have to deal with a tidal wave.
Hopefully.
Hopefully. Who knows?
Kind of want to now.
but anyway you have enough tight way of talk enough earthquake talk we're here to talk about vanderpbundilla and like i said we're going to release three episodes we're going to cover all three of the ones that are out now i know that another one comes out on monday we'll take care of that next week yep but we want to make sure that you guys have enough content next week while steels getting tan or sunburnt or whatever he does over there it is four inch shorts because he's going full italian i am we love that and we support that he's going to have a great time and we're going to make sure we give you guys some content so we're going to have this and then we'll have summerhouse out as well earlier the
the week and uh you guys will be fed yeah we're gonna feed you baby birds every episode now we have to do
that well you tee it up i have to say i know i know but let's start talking about the villa because
i love this show love love yeah this show for me hits like the sweet spot of it's not
serious enough for me to get like up in arms about it's an easy watch and i texted you this is
the on land version of below deck it really is the structure of the show is specific
specifically what I thought about was Blowdeck because honestly it was the first time that I saw
the guest had a confessional that was the only wrinkle that was a little bit different because usually
even on Blue Deck like every once in a while you'll get a guest that'll have something going on
but for the most part they don't talk you get a confessional from the guest I wanted a little bit
more of that yeah yeah like say you know how they actually felt about the staff not just watching
the reactions when things went on but it is very similar you get two episodes over I guess
I guess they're there for a weekend or something, two, three days.
And you get two days of that and then you move on to the next episode and they get like a little bit of party time in between.
So it's very below deck coded.
And I like that because it always changes it up.
And obviously you've got the mainstays of the cast that are going to stay on with Lisa and everything else.
It's definitely a very different show than what we're used to watching.
So I like to change it up.
I like to get into it.
It's really, again, going back to the low deck, it's below deck with the worst people you've ever met.
like this cast is that it was hard to watch for me at first for this first episode
because you're getting to learn everybody's names and I actually took notes because I have
to to make sure that I know everybody on the cast there's a lot of people to keep track of
and they didn't even introduce everybody in the first episode they pop up late I was like shit
how many more people are there second episode Emily popped up and like who the fuck is
is Emily where'd you come from but uh yeah so there's a lot to keep track of I had to keep
notes on that and as we got to learn who each person is okay this guy's the worst guy I've
ever seen in my entire life this girl seems cool up nope she's actually the worst person i've ever met
and then it's really just a cast of people that you hate there's like one or two people that are okay
there's there's you have three three i got andre Andre Andre grace emily grace i think is going to take
a turn next week it looks like she gets drunk and screams at somebody oh really i didn't see that she's
going to fall into the fold uh but for now you know i'm not i don't no bias until i see the episode so
for now. Grace, Emily, Andre, and Gabriela seems relatively normal.
Yes. Okay. All right. I'll give you those four. Yeah. So that's my four for now. This is a very
fluid show that it could all change. And again, the interesting factor here that's similar to
below deck and why I think it's going to be so interesting to watch. Like you said, you get the
quick turnover from each guest, which is nice. It's a new kind of theme every single episode. But
this cast has to live together
in the staff quarters for
I don't know how long
I don't know what the stint is over there
it's five weeks
is it only open for five weeks
do they change staff in five weeks
no idea I didn't I didn't do any digging on that
I just know that
I think it was Priscilla that said that
she's just looking forward to five weeks
or maybe it was Hannah okay one of the two of them
said that they were looking forward to just their five weeks
that they're going to spend there and then they're going to move on
okay so I don't know maybe it's
only open for those five weeks because that's like the prime weather in the area and you want to
make sure that everything's good weeks in France and southern France that doesn't seem right no idea
yeah we're just speculating we have no idea speculating for more geography for idiots no earthquakes
but let's dive into this first episode and we're going to go through it and as we meet people
I'm just going to bring them up because that's kind of how the show was it they randomly push people in
and that I actually did not care for I thought it would be much easier if we just got introduced to
initially and learn their names, and then we could catch up with them later.
But it'll be like 15 minutes in and somebody new comes in, 30 minutes in, somebody new
comes in.
Episode two, two new people come in.
So it gets confusing.
So we're going to bring you along with us.
And we start out with Andre.
And we learn that Andre has lost his mom, but he's a big fan of Lisa.
He's been in the service industry for a while.
He's one of the bartenders.
I think his mom was a big fan of Lisa.
That's correct.
Yeah, you're right.
His mom was a huge LVP fan.
So this is a big deal for him.
He doesn't want to waste this opportunity.
out of the gate you already have this like warm fuzzy feeling with Andre LVP later says he's got like
this teddy bear kind of energy and she hits the nail on my head so we like Andre out of the gate
and we find out that Jeremy and Shereen are coming in for a proposal and it's a secret proposal
and I love that L like this is my big thing with these kinds of shows right LVP has to clarify
to this group we cannot ruin the surprise and I'm trying to imagine owning a rest of
restaurant or a hotel or a setup kind of like this and not having a staff that I'm just like,
yeah, do your fucking job.
Don't spill the beans.
Not only that.
She says, and what are we not going to do or what are they here for?
And half the people are yelling out anniversary.
Other people are saying secret proposal.
Other people start to say secret and then they stop.
It's like, no, that was, it was a trick question.
They're here for their anniversary.
Right.
That's what we're hammering in.
That's all we know.
It's just why you can tell it's for the show.
And I get it.
That's why this cast is together.
but, like, if I own this beautiful chateau in southern France and my staff had question
marks, he'd be like, well, you're all fired.
Yeah.
I'm going to get professionals in here because this is ridiculous.
And I love that the, the backstory for all of them is that LVP hand-tick them.
Yeah.
He's the best, he's the best server.
He's the best bartender in Vegas.
He's the best, she's the best server in Vegas.
She's the best mixologist in Vegas.
It's like, it sounds like you just went to Vegas.
You probably went to your pump restaurant in Vegas and then walked around a little bit and had
people go do some homework for you and just pull people out of those restaurants.
If these are the best in Vegas.
Yeah, I'm scared.
I don't want to get a lot of question marks.
I have a lot, but let's keep cruising.
We get, uh, they're kind of exploring the chateau the night before and they're just hanging
out and boozing.
And that's what's nice about this style, like the below deck style is you get the in-between
time.
So you get to kind of see how they vibe with one another, when they're partying, all that stuff.
So it's fun.
We meet Eric, who is recently divorced.
He's a country boy.
That is he says.
Country boy from Ohio.
There's a lot of country boys in a while.
Yeah.
Like, what is it?
Uh, fuck.
My one.
friend was from like the southern tip of
Ohio and they call it some yeah
they have a name for it where it's
something tucky and it's like the
mixture so yeah we call the middle of
Pennsylvania Pennsylvania pencil tucky so yeah
like it is a thing but we're Kentucky just getting
lumped in with all these other states that don't want to be
part of that part of their state yeah right
it's a shame yeah it's like Kentucky
they need more respect yeah hey to our listeners
in Kentucky yeah we got you back but
Louisville slugger yep
yep cool Kentucky Derby
what are we doing
I played in Lexington, Kentucky, which is actually where they make Jack Daniels.
There you go.
Hey, what's wrong with that?
Nothing.
I just want to talk about it.
What's it taste like now?
Oh, God.
Can I just smell it?
But this is where we get to meet what I am calling, and you don't want to draw parallels to
Bravo, and I agree, this is a separate network.
Let's keep this show separate.
I will only point out this.
We have a reincarnation.
of Jackson Stasi from OG Vanderpump days.
And the only reason I'm drawing the comparison
is because it is so similar.
It's two young, dumb lovers that he cheated on her
and yet she's still into him.
I guess they dated for like three years
and they broke up.
And they're interviewing Marciano and his confessional.
I want to call him like Mark because I hate Marciano.
I got confused too.
And somebody else at the end of the episode,
I think it was like Grace was like,
I've called him six different things.
But regardless, Marciano's like,
yeah, you know, I'm a bad dog.
That dog was wild.
It's like, all right, at least I thought during this, during his confessional, that maybe
he had a little bit of self-awareness?
No, none.
And he was like, oh, yeah, you know, I really like her a lot, but I'm a bad dog.
I'm a bad dog.
All right, that's a weird way to put it, but at least you're acknowledging that you're
an asshole, I guess, to an extent somewhat.
I had a little bit of hope for him, and then he just squashes it immediately, not
like hope, but he, it doesn't matter.
I could have had any level of hope.
could have been zero and he still would have surpassed that.
Yeah, I didn't have a lot of hope at all, but he talks about he worked at a bar before
and he got fired because there was a rule not to hook up with other employees and he hooked
up with way too many of them.
So he got fire.
His rule.
Sick, bro.
We've got a Marciano rule.
That's so sick, dude.
But he and Hannah have this jealousy factor, he says, but there's no label.
There's no label there.
So I don't know what to make that.
I'm already tired of them.
Yeah.
It's going to be fun to.
watch, I think, but again, I think it will. But regardless, this is where he claims the best
server in Vegas thing. And like, based on what? What's the stipulations? I would imagine there are
show me awards. That's what I need to see. For Vegas, there's absolutely awards. Yeah. So what's your,
what's your credentials, pal? You're just saying this and so is LVP, but I could produce a show and say
anybody's the best server in Vegas. So I don't think he exudes the energy of bring a resume and
he just brings a headshot. That's a good. Yeah. That's a good. It doesn't say where he's
he worked or anything, it's just a nice headshot that he thinks he looks hot in.
Yeah, that's a, I bet that is his resume, but.
Or it's like his STD test.
Look at this, it's clean.
Clean bill of health.
We get to dinner, and they're doing a little game of truth or drink.
And this didn't actually turn out poorly, but we get to meet Anthony.
Anthony is the executive chef.
I love the kitchen staff already.
I think they're great.
So I'm a big fan of them.
Obviously, I'm a little bit biased, but I like them a lot.
when they ask him a question, his one thing that he will never do, he's like, I will never cheat because it's disrespectful to my partner.
I don't want to disrespect them.
Fucking Marciano from the corner.
Bullshit.
Why are you doing that?
And this is on the heels of Lisa coming out and saying, hey, we've got guests coming tomorrow.
So obviously, we're going to have a little fun tonight because there's no one here.
But make sure that you're bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the morning.
Yep.
And he goes, yeah, okay.
Sure, sure, Lisa.
We'll do that.
And it wasn't like a playful tone.
It was condescending.
It was condescending and he was being an asshole to Lisa, your employer.
Yeah.
And this is where I started to think, like, all right, if he really fucks up royally, I want Lisa to fire him.
Just set the tone.
At least make sure there's repercussions for your actions, because obviously, you look, I know it's a show.
We want interesting characters.
We want people who are going to move the needle.
Sure.
But I want it to be a little more real than that.
I want Lisa to fire someone, anyone, just so they all go, oh, fuck.
Like, maybe we can't do this.
Because they are pushing it, like pushing the envelope as much as they possibly can.
which is fine for the show.
You're supposed to.
To an extent, but at some point, I want Lisa to step in.
Like, you've got cameras everywhere.
You can see them talking shit on you.
You can see them drinking, whatever.
Fire someone.
I think that they are setting somebody up for that.
I don't think that Marciano and Hannah will ever be under fire like that,
only because I know what, like, when LVP cast the show,
she did it with intentions.
That's also why I drew the VPR thing.
Yeah.
She brought those two intentionally because they have this messy past,
because they're messy together.
They're going to be a highlight of this show.
They're going to have to royally fuck up to get the boot.
Now, the guy that's set up to get fired,
and you will all see this when we get to our third episode, especially,
is Eric.
Eric is the fall guy,
and I firmly believe that because even after his first couple of interviews,
I'm like, this guy's fucking nuts.
And we'll talk about that soon,
but I do think that that's the setup on who,
because you're right,
that is built into a show like this.
It's the, what was that movie where, or is it a TV show?
Oh, it's Friends.
Joey works for Monica to get...
I didn't watch Friends.
Not surprising, Mr. Contrarian.
But Joey works in Monica's restaurant to get the boot.
What?
So what's your problem with Friends?
It's just not a sitcom for me.
Okay.
I just didn't think it was funny.
We don't have to do this.
I don't think a lot of people.
A lot of people liked Friends when it was on,
but I feel like now when people are rewatching,
they're like, eh, we don't have to do this.
Also, remember when Friends, Netflix up to all of our subscription fees
because they wanted to keep friends.
Oh, that's why you have a problem with Friends?
Yeah.
It's like YouTube.
It's like you too.
What are you doing on my iPhone?
No, it's not.
That was worse.
You two popping up on my phone randomly still bugs me to this day.
And I never had a problem with you too.
I know people have certain, I think that they get way more attention than I understand.
But at the same time, I respect that they've been around for so long.
Sure.
I didn't hate them until they put their album on my phone without my.
Yeah.
And then that was just universal hate.
Yeah.
The audacity.
Yeah.
Hey, Bono.
Fuck you.
Like, don't put your, I don't want this.
Anyway, the dinner ends with Mark, Marciano.
Oh, I've wrote Mark down in my journal.
Just say Mark.
Mark's best date ever was with Hannah because she gave me the best blow job ever, dude.
Like, that's...
They doubled down and said that he could say a lot more, but he's going to leave it there to keep it.
Yeah, what a respectful man.
This dude does not respect women in any way, shape, or form.
He doesn't respect anybody.
No.
He's just a piece of shit.
It's going to be entertaining for TV, but I'm curious at what point.
One of the other guys is going to step up and check him, hopefully.
I bet he thinks that this is, like, his audition for Love Island or something like that.
Oh, maybe he'll, you know, if he does enough and he's enough of an asshole,
but he's good looking, maybe he can get onto one of those shows where it doesn't matter
if you're a huge asshole.
Maybe.
I think that's probably what he's doing.
It could be.
But the next morning, the crew is waking up and the guests arrive.
My first thing, initially I was like, well, Eric got after it last night.
We saw that scene with him and Priscilla in the pool, kind of fooling around a little bit,
all that stuff.
But he was up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed riding a bike, waking everybody up.
I was like, all right, maybe he's just eccentric.
He's a little weird, but he does his job.
I'm cool with that.
It will change much more drastically as we go on.
But I'm Amy Nicholson, the film critic for the L.A. Times.
And I'm Paul Shear, an actor, writer, and director.
You might know me from the League, Veep, or my non-eligible for Academy Award role in Twisters.

Here, the most popular fiction podcast of all time, which the New York Times described as
what might occur if David Lynch was a producer at your local radio station. Welcome to Night Vale
is a twice-monthly update from a small desert town, where the paranormal is real. Every
conspiracy theory is true. We all have to get on with our lives anyway. Welcome to Nightfall.
fail is available wherever you get your podcasts everybody gets there the the guests arrive and all
that and this is so funny to me especially as somebody that doesn't drink they're all like walking
into the bar we get to meet telly who is a mixologist and you know again the the common denominator
amongst everybody here is they are grateful for this massive opportunity they all seem to be
good at what they do but they also all seem to be at this weird transition point in their life
where they've either been fired they're trying to figure out the next
step. They want to move on to bigger and better things. And they do recognize that
they are in a chateau in South France working for Lisa Vanderpump on TV. This is a massive
opportunity for them that they don't want to blow it. So we get to meet Telling. We learn that
about her and then the guests arrive. And this is what I wanted to talk about. She's like,
how about shots? And like, whoa, way too aggressive. How about an espresso martini? I'm like,
it's just a coffee with vodka. Not to mention, you were just in the kitchen for the conversation
where no one knew how to make coffee. Oh, yeah, that part. Yeah, I was
even getting to the part where they...
I love when Andre picks up the manual and he looks at it's all in French.
What am I supposed to do with this?
Well, fuck.
All right.
You guys are fucked.
Maybe go ask the French chef.
That would be the move.
When the French chef takes the time to say, hey, let's make sure we always have coffee because
it is something that they're going to request frequently.
Just make sure it's done so you don't have to go make it.
In that moment, hey, chef, how?
Problem solved.
How?
How do I do this?
Problem solved.
Instead, they don't.
So now the coffee's not ready.
I just think it's funny that a shot's too aggressive, but coffee with a shot in it is not.
That's crazy.
And half the crew wanted it, and we kind of glossed over, which I thought was really funny,
and they do the timing where the sprinter vans are pulling up.
And you feel like you've got no time at all to get this right.
Marciano drops all the drinks on the ground.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, I can't believe I forgot that.
All the drinks on the ground right in front of Lisa.
Obviously, people go over and try to help them clean it up.
And to his credit, it was super windy.
No, that's not why, dude.
They were ripping shots from the bottle in the bar beforehand.
And he was also hammered from the night before still.
So to do shots and, look, I get it.
You want to calm the nerves a little bit?
You want to take a shot over you out there?
No, no, no, no, absolutely not.
LVP made it clear.
No drinking when you're working.
She knew what she was doing.
I know she knows they're going to drink when they were.
I also love that she is full blown.
I'm going to spy on everybody.
Like usually the head of the show like plays dumb.
Even LVP on the other show.
She's like, oh, she finds out, no, she's full blown.
I'm watching all of you, all of the.
time it's great she knows it's going to be good good for tv too so between him and telly taking
shots before they even go out they go out obviously he spills that thing all over they come when
they come back in and all the guests are talking about shots for anyone to say that's too
aggressive that's really funny it is telly and marciano were just ripping shots before they even went
outside at what i assume is 11 a m had at the latest at the latest i was thinking it was probably
more 10 but yeah so this is this is where we are and this is where we get our introduction to the
which is really funny because they're drunk again.
Yep.
And the guests are now just arriving.
So this is going to be a roller coaster.
LVP's face.
Yeah.
The day one.
But we get to meet Stephen, who's the manager.
He is daddy hunting.
He wants to be, he wants a sugar daddy, which, hey, respect.
Get that money.
He wants to work here pretty much to meet a guy, a rich guy, and sail off into the sunset.
No shade.
Sure.
I got big snitch energy from Stephen immediately, though.
Really?
Yeah.
And it does like rear.
its head a little bit later, of course.
A little bit, but right away, I could tell that he was going to judge everybody what
they were doing.
He does not, he looks at them drinking on the job.
He doesn't want any part of it.
He's going to basically go tell LVP in my mind.
He's going to turn your nose up at it.
Yeah, I could just tell he's going to snitch on somebody at some point.
Interesting.
See, my, my take on him was more like, I just actually doing his job.
I think he just wants to do his job.
Lane, this is a TV show first, job later.
But I think that if I was in this position and I'm watching this fucking idiot Eric, like
stomper.
Oh, well, that's, that's a good.
for that job.
That's my point.
But I don't know.
We're going to find.
I like Steven.
So we're going to find out.
But he did get fired for a snarky remark at Vanderpump cocktail.
So he's got some fighting.
So we will see how that happens, especially with Eric, because he's going to push each other's buttons.
Funny that LVP hire somebody for this that they fired at one of her for being snarking.
She knows what she's doing.
She knows what she's doing.
She can cast a show.
I'll give her that.
There's no TV of Vanderpump Cocktail, but there's TV out here.
Yeah.
And by the way, this is like,
maximum, maximum LVP.
Yeah.
Like she is doing,
she is playing LVP.
She's a role.
Yeah,
she is,
obviously this is her show for like now.
Maybe she'll take a step back in the future.
I don't actually,
I don't see that at all.
I think this is like what,
this is her baby.
Her confessionals are over dramatized.
Her conversations are over,
I'm not mad at it.
I think it's,
no,
I think it's great.
I love it.
It's just like,
wow,
you definitely wrote some of this shit out.
Like you are,
you are delivering on camera.
But we get to Croquet and Rose.
which I love the, love the idea.
And this is where Telly is just crushing booze with Marciano and LVP is kind of spying.
And this is where she has the conversation about the staff drinking.
So I jumped the gun earlier.
This is where she says, look, this bar is for the guests.
You are not to drink in here, drink in the staff quarters, when you're not working.
And she asks them flat out, because she already knows the answer.
She's like, are you guys drinking?
And Telly's like, uh, nope.
And she covers Marciano bails and throws them out of the bus, not surprised.
at all dude's a fucking coward could have pegged that from the beginning but telly's kind of left
there like stuttering like ah shit like i got caught already and she still is able to reel it in and say
nope nope everything's good and now she's embarrassed though but it's good to see that she will have
people's back it's also good to find out that marciano will not like this is i think that's also like
a really tough position to be in like lisa walking into it and especially when she's interconfessional
saying i want to know what kind of people i'm working with i want to know if when i ask them a point
blank question are they going to tell me the truth or are they going to lie to me what
do you really want her to do? The question was posed, is any of the staff drinking? Do you want
her to say, yeah, you know what? I took a shot to calm my nerves and just take the fall for
everybody. Or maybe. Or rat everybody out? Or do you want her to rat people out? Because I feel like
you're going to get more out of somebody if they don't rat out their co-workers. I agree.
So maybe LVP saw that and when she realized what was going on. And obviously there's a little
conversation that has that happens the next day. But in that moment, like, what do you really want
her to do? Rat everybody out? Because then she's a snitch. I don't think she cared with the
outcome. I don't think she cares either. I think that she knows. And again, she's got kind
cameras everywhere because she wants, not because she wants to spy on them necessarily, maybe
it makes for better TV so she can bring things up that happens.
It's both.
It's both.
But I think she wants to make sure that they are performing for the TV show.
Definitely.
Well, you know why people are booking the Chateau Rosabella.
So do you think that they're paying for this?
I think for the show.
I think they get a discount to, oh, what do you mean?
Like, the Chateau itself?
I think that LVP invited these people.
I think it's free of charge.
So my understanding with below deck,
and we're just going to frame it that way,
because that's like the closest thing, you know,
they do pay, but they get a discount.
Right.
At least the people on below deck take their jobs very seriously
and they can get fired.
Totally, absolutely.
This is like a cluster fuck of people
and you have to put up with them arguing and fighting
because it's a TV show.
So I wouldn't, I mean, look,
I would go if I was invited and I didn't have to pay for it.
If I had to pay at a discount even, I'm not, I'm not going to go there because I want to have a good experience.
Right.
Well, that's you.
Other people will go to be on TV and accept the discount.
And also you get to get a discount and trip to the south of France and a beautiful chateau.
You can't argue it's not gorgeous.
So I don't know.
That's interesting.
I wonder if we'll ever get an answer for that.
But we move on to the Red Hot Romance dinner and like the setup for everything.
And this is where we get to really meet the kitchen staff and chef Anthony is just, he's a very, very classical French chef.
You can tell, like, he's all business.
And I fucking love that.
His dishes look beautiful.
And I love the passion he has.
And then the sous chef, Caroline, is the same.
Like, they take this shit seriously.
And that's what's funny watching this whole house together, especially, I think it's
episode two or three with the croissant.
And we'll talk about that later.
But, like, the kitchen staff has the hardest job.
They're working all day.
Like, they're nonstop working.
So they really don't have time for the bullshit nonsense.
Yeah, they're not dicking around back there ripping shots and, like, dancing with each other.
They're prepping, cooking, cooking, cooking, cleaning.
done like they have a big day so it's it's funny to watch the dichotomy of like a serious staff
in the kitchen or somebody else and i do love like the mix up of because this is classic food
and bev shout out craig classic food and bev classic food and bev the servers and the staff
hate the kitchen they go in and they not yet but do not interact with them they just pick up
the food and leave yeah they want they don't want to talk to them they don't want to deal with
them and it shows up a little bit later when eric is beefing with the chef and it looks like he's
going to continue to do that they do not like the kitchen staff at all they just want to
get their food and get the fuck out of there.
They're not mingling at all.
And I think that's kind of funny.
But it is kind of sad because there's just two of them in there and they have to be on
their game the entire time making sure all the food is prepped and all the food is ready
to go.
And they don't get to do anything and like live in the show really at least two for episode
one.
If I had to guess they are thrilled because Anthony says it later.
He's like, I'm not here for the drama.
Like I'm not here for the drama.
So I think that they probably prefer the fact that like keep this shit out of the
kitchen simply because they don't have the time.
Again, they have to do all of this stuff.
So I'm.
Curious to see, because obviously it's going to cross over at some point.
Shit's going to hit the fan, and it looks like it does.
It does, yeah.
So I'm curious to see how the crossover is going to be, but that part I really enjoy
because that is the one thing I can point to.
It's like, all right, these people are serious about their jobs, surrounded by people
that could go either way.
So it's going to be interesting to watch it.
That's a chef biased by you.
Totally, 100%.
I'm going to be on their team probably the entire season.
But regardless, we get to the actual dinner itself and the dinner looks exceptional, and we
get shots at the table.
And Marciano immediately, dude, immediately.
He's like, whoever doesn't drink it,
oh, we'll take it.
And he made 11 shots for eight people,
knowing that there'd be extra shots to take.
Hey, Bubba.

But what surprised me is your manager, Eric, who should not be involved in this at all,
he's also ripping shots.
And I hate on these kinds of shows when it's an event thing,
and they're like, our job is to make sure the guests have a fun time.
they have a good time.
Yeah.
Doesn't mean you need to get fucked up with them.
It means you need to make sure they have fun.
Again, below deck, watch over there.
Like, they watch the party.
They make sure the party's fun.
They even, honestly, a lot of the times the guests will say,
why don't you come in and have a shot with us?
And most of the people in below deck will say no.
No, because you get fired.
Yeah.
Immediately you get fired because they see it.
There's cameras.
This is a way different.
That's the difference of the structure where, you know,
that doesn't really come into play.
Lisa almost wants that to happen.
Oh, totally.
Which, again, goes back to, I don't.
think these guests are because i think they are i think they're just getting a discount
regardless they want to be there is my point yeah they want to be there and this dinner is a
fucking disaster and this is why i think that you know they know what they signed up for and they
are paying something because they're all turning around to try to watch the drama they're all
excited like oh ask her what's going on like they know what they signed up for but the bar is empty
because andre's taking a break telly's taking a break too i think andrew was trying to make coffee
no no no no that so in this moment when they're actually at dinner andre's in the back eating dinner
like oh god break yeah then telly's looking for him but then telly decides to take a break and i was like
well if you know there's not two people there at the bar like one of you has to be there yeah period
and like i the way that marciano handled it is fucking ridiculous because he comes in with his chest
bowed out like a fucking hard ass and immediately starts in on telly because she wasn't back there
rather than be like hey hey we just need these drinks out like asap they're taking too long he
Deal with it later.
Yeah.
Instead, he goes in there and it can only be described as like in tries like intimidator
and like gets in her face and starts yelling and this whole thing explodes.
And everyone's screaming at each other and Telly ends up pushing him.
And I don't really like, no, I guess you should never get physical.
But at the same time, if this dude is bowing up to you and screaming at you and cussing at you.
It's in your personal space.
Like push them out of your personal.
I can get them out of it.
So I got it.
Like I understood.
And then the craziest part is at no.
point during the initial altercation when Marciano's being a fucking dick and screaming
at her, Eric is standing and watching.
That's fine.
But as soon as Telly touches him and now he jumps in, says, you're not going to touch
this.
It's like, no, no, no, no.
This was escalated by the dickhead in the pink shirt over here.
Not by her.
She responded.
She reacted because he was wrong.
And now you're sticking up for him?
You can push him out and then go in and say, look, you need to be behind the bar at all
times.
Again, the TV show, whatever.
but you don't go after the girl because she was not the instigator.
Not at all.
Not at all.
She had to defend herself because he was in her personal space.
Yeah, it's so fucking dumb.
But that's the beautiful thing about this show.
That's episode one.
Yep.
That's 30 minutes and we are done episode one.
It's quick.
And this is my point.
Like, I'm so glad we have this show right now.
We might end up hating it.
We might end up really loving it.
Like I said, I'm out of the gate loving it.
But it's nice in between the housewives and summer.
Summer House and a lot of shows that we have to really deeply analyze, it's nice to have just
an easy watch.
Definitely is.
I'm excited for it.
I'm pleasantly surprised and cautiously optimistic.
Not to mention, Steele put up a story that said, holy shit, Jackson Stassie, are back on
our screen, and Vanderpump Villal and Hulu liked it.
Hey.
Hey.
Little interaction.
Hey, villa people.
Hey, villa people.
What do you call them?
Call them villains.
That's what I was going to say.
But it's like, villas?
Now villains.
Villalites.
Villanova.
Villanova.
Villanova.
Villanova.
Villanova.
There you go.
Shout out to me.
There we go.
Shut up.
But yeah, that's episode one.
So if you enjoyed it, we've got another episode coming for you.
Guess what?
We're going to record it now.
You're not going to be able to listen to it right now unless you're listening
later, but be on the lookout.
Because we're recording it right now.
Yep.
But you're going to have to listen to it tomorrow.
All right.
Robbers are out of here.
You got anything else?
Oh, wait.
What?
You did it wrong, though.
Yeah, I know.
Hi.
Are you looking for a movie review show where the critic is at the top of his or her game,
meticulously breaking down and explaining exactly why a film does or does not work?
Well, good luck with the search.
Because we're having fun here on Adam does movies.
I talk to you like we just got done seeing a movie together,
giving you the pros and cons,
and I'm digging in the trenches in the mud and muck on streaming services,
telling you which films are worth your time.
Each and every week, I hit the big blockbusters, I cover the streamers, and I even tossed in some movie news for fun.
Because this show, as Adam does movies.
I'm obviously Adam. I probably should have led with that.
But perhaps I have led you to check out the show on Spotify, on Apple Podcasts, on YouTube.
And hopefully, we can do movies together.
Hooh-ho-ho-ho. Hot.
