The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox is an eight-episode Hulu original limited series
that blends gripping pacing with emotional complexity,
offering a dramatized look as it revisits the wrongful conviction of Amanda Knox
for the tragic murder of Meredith Kircher and the relentless media storm that followed.
The twisted tale of Amanda Knox is now streaming only on Disney Plus.
As there's a drive in a deep left field by Castellanos, it will be on.
man, it's 8 o'clock.
And so that'll make it a...
Broads.
Good morrow, good brethren, and welcome back to yet again another Thrones Dragon
Sode, if you will.
I am your co-host, Sustiel, joined once again by Sir Guts of Fairmount.
How art thou, Goots?
I feel like I try to wear my red shirts when I can when we do this.
Oh, I like that.
A little fire and blood.
You don't have to explain it, I understand.
Because blood's red.
Right, no, I get it.
It's sometimes red.
That's an interesting point.
Yep.
We're off a-
Is that an interesting point?
Not really, no, none of this is.
Nope, not at all.
Welcome back to a House of the Dragon recap.
We are getting close to the end of the season.
Sad.
It's so sad.
Yeah.
We had the group chat going last night, and somebody pointed out that
there's only eight episodes.
So we were hoping for 10.
It is confirmed an eight-parter this year.
They better pick it up.
Yeah.
Look, we knew it was going to happen.
We knew there was going to be some downtime.
And if Thrones has taught us anything, when they get closer to the end of the season,
because you know shit's going to pop off, it's usually a pretty heavy lull.
So we're in the midst of that lull right now.
I'm not defending it.
I'm just saying there is a history here that we should have been prepared for it.
Yeah, typically they'll wait until the penultimate episode, if you will, for something to happen, whether it's a battle that we've been talking about for a while, some sort of turning of the tides, if you will, and that's not a core list thing.
That's just a phrase, you know, not tide water, but whatever.
So, yeah, I mean, we'll have to see what happens.
This episode was a lot of plot.
A lot of plot.
Damon's still having his nightmares, but it seems like he's coming through it.
That was my prediction.
He's still at Harenhall, still having nightmares.
No, not by the end.
And I think he's going to be next episode, still having nightmares.
And you missed what happened.
No, we dwindled it down.
You originally had thought that if it was 10 episodes, that you would go through episode
8 and then 9 and 10, he'd be out.
Yeah.
And I said if it's 8 episodes, it's going to be this one.
By the end of this, he will be ready to leave, which he is.
I think he's still going to be there next episode.
We'll get to that.
We'll have that discussion when we get.
I don't want to jump the gun too soon.
I think he's not done with his.
visions yet. I think there's still some more work
to be done. I politely
disagree. We'll talk about it. We'll talk
about Alice Rivers
confirmed real. Confirmed real.
Confirmed real person.
Potentially also barn owl, because she
had a barn owl. Maybe she's a warg.
Did you see that? She's something.
She's a seer or a
dreamer or a warg
or whatever it might be.
I do think so, and this isn't
like spoilers for anything else. This is for Game of Thrones.
The three-eyed raven
is actually a descendant of hers.
Oh, okay.
It's Brindon Rivers or whatever.
So he is part of that whole family tree.
So I wouldn't be surprised if she has some sort of that warg, seeing ability, whatever.
She's a one-eyed barn owl.
Yeah, she's a one-eyed barn owl.
Now, I mean, it could also just be as simple as she's poisoning Damon.
And for whatever reason, he's not seeing it.
He's claiming that everybody else is poisoning him.
And she's the one poisoning.
It really, it makes me mad.
Because in this episode, he looks around and he's like, you guys are all doing this.
It's like, well, the one that you're talking to the most who keeps bringing up your visions is probably the one giving them to you.
Yeah, more than likely.
But at the same time, he has some weird rapport with her where he seems to trust her and even goes to her for counsel at one point.
Which is more than he's done with anybody else.
Oh, that's what this episode's about with Damon.
Yeah.
But let's dive into it.
And I will say once again, this show and Game of Thrones does it better than any other show is setting the tone and allowing you to feel.
the tone and watching the after
show a little bit. Even the way
they shot this was intentional. There was a lot of
camera rotations and they were
trying to imply that the world,
everything's turning. It's all turning.
So I think you feel that during this
episode and with the plot being set up the way
that it is, you're seeing
the other side team Black
start to finally get their footing
a little bit. They start to make some
advancements forward because up until this point
we've been seeing them kind of tread
water, if not regress.
Every time that they've tried to make a move, Rook's rest, it didn't go great.
Every time that Reneer has tried to put anything into play, it doesn't go great.
So we finally see some positive signs from that team?
With what?
Just Corliss showing up and being the hand?
Corliss showed up.
We've got another dragon rider.
At the end, which we don't know if he's going to be on her team.
I suspect he'll be on the team black.
I would imagine, yeah.
But also, you know, the boats and Masaria, like we're jumping the gun a lot here.
But there are things that are finally working in their favor.
So that is how the episode was shot intentionally.
It's tough when you have to break down and have two episodes in a row that are all plot.
Yep.
Because we need a little bit of action.
And I think that they thought the scene with Allison in like running away from the church was going to be enough action.
It was not.
I needed a little bit more than that.
But I saw a guy get his hand chopped off.
That was cool.
We did.
We did.
But I need more blood.
Yep.
Give me more blood.
All right.
We know what we're here for.
Yeah.
We have a gross stuff.
Also, the word, there was a couple episodes ago where we were,
talking about Amund and Agon talking or speaking in High Valerian, and I was stuck on a word
that Amand used that I thought was kind of cool and I wanted to know what it was.
Lick Spittle.
Licksbittle.
Yeah, we heard it again from Vesaris.
Yeah, we heard it like three times of this episode, actually.
Maybe they heard you.
Maybe they did.
We must hammer this hoe.
I like it.
You Lickspittles you.
I'm a big fan of that word.
But let's jump in.
We start out with a Lannister that is, which Lannister is that?
That would be Jason.
We start out with Jason Lannister and Humphrey Lefford
And they're at Golden Tooth
They are at the Golden Tooth
Which I mistakenly thought was the
I can't remember the name of the tower
But I thought it was the tower that Ned Stark
Had finally gone to see Leanna Stark
It was not
That was down in Dorn
This is way up in
Lanester, it's the Golden Tooth, yeah
It's north
I looked at a map
I like looking at the map of Westeros
Trying to figure these things out
Yeah I go a little deeper
I appreciate that you go down.
It's northwest of Harenhall.
Okay.
So they're in the general vicinity of Harenhall, which we find out because as they're discussing
things, Humphrey says, I've got 500 fighting men ready to go.
I'm not really sure why Jason Lannister feels near.
Well, I've got a thousand of my own.
He's a Lannister.
But you're on the same team.
Sort of.
Well, this guy's bending the knee more or less saying, you've got my guys.
I don't know why you're trying to, like, strong arm him here.
He's strong arming everybody.
He's like, do you not see the low?
lion that I brought with me?
I have a lion here.
I want to see that lion in battle one.
We're going to.
Yeah, I would hope so.
I hope it's something similar to what we saw with the wolves,
the dire wolves in the first or second season of Game of Thrones.
Because a lion in battle is pretty fucking cool.
And I don't know how you're going to be able to make sure the lion doesn't go after
your own men.
Well, I'm assuming it's not the lions that we're used to.
They're probably, well, like, dire wolves.
I mean, I wouldn't hang out around a giant wolf in our world.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So maybe it's a dire lion.
Dyer lion.
A dion.
All right.
Dian.
Those are dions.
Really working this one.
Yeah, we're really milking it for all it's got.
But they are ready to go and march on Harenhol.
But Jason Lannister decides to once again strong arm and say,
hmm, that's wonderful.
Send word to Amund and let him know we're ready to go once him and Vagar show up.
I like that he even says, I think he said send word to Thailand, my brother.
As if he thinks that Thailand has any control over that.
He's the lowest man on that small council.
And terrified.
He doesn't speak up.
Yeah.
No, he does not speak up, and less so, as we'll see a little bit later, with Amon's there.
He is not going to say anything.
No.
So you can send that Raven all you want, and maybe he'll say something.
I don't think it's going to work.
No, Tyler got punked by a child.
Yeah.
So he's probably just going to hang out and keep doing what he's been doing.
Yeah.
Try not to get killed.
Yeah.
That's the vibe I get.
But it immediately jumps to Amon and the council on Amin's reaction to this.
And obviously, he's pissed off.
And again, after show points to...
The Amund approach to everything is very pragmatic, cold, stoic, I'm making decisions based on military
brain and thought alone.
Yeah.
I'm not putting emotion into this.
So you see him get a little perturbed by, and I think that he's so frustrated because he's
like, I'm the Prince Regent, aka, I'm the king right now.
Who the hell is this guy think he is saying he's calling to me and make haste to get out and
help?
Like, go fuck yourself, buddy.
Yeah, no, that makes no sense at all.
I'm on Amon's side for this one.
That makes no sense.
You're going to leave King's landing behind.
on the back of Vagar, who was protecting Kings Landing,
to go out to the Golden Tooth to then go back over to Harenhull,
or you're going to meet me in Hiron Hall?
None of it really makes any sense,
especially given the fact that they know that Damon's having a hard time
getting troops together.
Why are they even bothering with Harenhaw right now?
I don't know.
Jason Lannister could show up there and take it in a day.
It's what they were all saying in the council
by saying, well, yeah, we could march on Harenhall now.
Yeah.
But there's a big dragon in the Riverlands,
correct, he's just laying in wait.
You could take out that entire army very quickly.
And Allison chimes in that moment and is completely ignored.
Like, she has lost all footing in the council top to bottom.
So she is completely irrelevant at this point.
Thailand does speak up in this moment and says,
maybe we should reach out to the free cities and the triarchy and get them involved
and everything.
Obviously, the issue there being you're dealing with more or less a bunch of pirates.
Yeah.
So they're not very trustworthy.
Yeah.
But they could attack the blockade and Amon's entire thought processes.
All right, well, if they are doing that, they're occupying the blockade and allowing the
Lannister fleet to get to King's Landing, which is going to take a little while.
So they will be focused here while we sneak in from the back, is what I gathered from that.
Yeah, that's what you can gather from that.
And obviously the triarchy was the main culprit for the step zones, the war on the
step zones that Damon ended with that really cool scene last year that we're not getting
any of this year because Damon is hiding in Harron Hall right now. So obviously, yes, the triarchy
is not to be trusted, but I think that the Greens pretty much have no other option at this point.
Obviously, you have a good land army, but that blockade is the biggest issue. And surprisingly,
it's been able to stay intact the whole time while Corliss has been at drift mark, just kind of
hanging out, waiting for his boat to get repaired. I guess my biggest question with the blockade is
why not send a dragon and just wipe it out? That's my question. I was thinking that the entire time
you have two other dragons?
Well, I don't know.
I guess Dayron's dragon is up in Old Town,
and he hasn't, quote, unquote, taken wing yet,
which I'm not really sure what that means,
but they talk about it later.
He hasn't taken flight.
He hasn't taken flight,
but, like, as soon as he flies, he's ready to roll.
I don't know.
But, yeah, I mean, you still do have,
obviously you have Vagar.
I don't think that there's anything on that blockade
that can take out Vagar,
and they don't have a dragon of their own
out there protecting it that I know of.
So, yeah, that would make sense.
You can make quick work of at least a huge section of the fleet,
fly back to King's Landing,
And then they're going to be trying to fix things for the next weeks, months, whatever, and you should be able to get through it.
You would imagine.
Yeah, I don't know.
Parts always confused me, but Amund decides he's going to send Kristen Cole to Heron Hall.
I was like, it's time for you to go and attack while they are not ready.
We need to strike before they have an army.
And you can tell that Cole is terrified.
Yeah, he doesn't want to go back out the field again.
There's a dragon out there.
I just saw a dragon do stuff to my army that I don't want to.
see again. Can't I stay here, please? Haven't you seen what they do? They burn people to a crisp.
If anybody knows, Eamon knows. Actually, go ask Agon. He knows. Hey, oh, he's still alive. A little milk
of the poppy. Yeah, heyo. But anyway, what you're getting or what I'm getting from this is
Amon's also getting a little cocky. Oh, yeah. A little he's really liking his seat there,
and he thinks that because he's such a masterful military mind, that he's got this in the bag,
and that's where he's going to falter. And that's what's interesting, the dynamic.
of agon running things and he does it out of fear, emotion, anger, whatever you want to call it.
The flip side, you have a completely emotionless decision maker where he's not taking
into account anybody else's opinions. He's not taken into account thoughts and feelings,
honestly. He's only doing it based on military approach and that's going to fall flat as well.
There is a middle ground here that they don't seem to be able to find. And I think that middle
ground, honestly, is Darren because that's what we heard at the end of the episode. Maybe that's
it's going to be their big, I don't know, last-ditch effort if this goes south with Amon,
which it's looking like it's not going to be great.
But I thought it was interesting that they bring him up,
and we'll get to that later, because we have a scene where the council departs,
and it's Amon and Allison talking.
And he flat out goes, remind me of your place.
Like, what do you do here?
What is exactly your role?
Because I'm not really sure why you're here.
Well, this was coming, too, because last week, obviously she wanted to take control.
did not want Amid to do it.
Amid ended up getting control,
and she's still sitting in the small council
trying to undermine him.
Right.
So it makes sense.
I agree with Amon.
You don't really want your mother sitting over here
saying everything the opposite of what you're saying.
You want to make sure that everybody's in line
for what he does.
And again, very military mind.
He wants everybody to stay exactly in line
with all of his thinking and just carry out his orders.
Correct.
Allison's not going to allow that.
So, yeah, get off my small counsel.
1,000%.
So her last ditch effort to remain relevant.
and remain in the game is to play at his heartstrings.
And she, like, caresses his face and is like,
haven't I done enough to avenge you for what happened in your childhood?
And him taking the hand off and being like,
your service is greatly appreciated is more or less saying,
no, you didn't do anything for me.
I got here myself.
I will continue to be my own person.
I don't need you.
Get off the small council.
Get out of my face.
Yeah, continues your spiral of,
Am I a bad mother?
You are.
Yeah, you are.
You're a really bad mom.
Yeah, it's not Kings Landing.
It's you.
It's 1,000% you.
At least you're starting to understand that, as we see later.
I think, yeah.
We hope.
But flashback to Dragonstone, and Corlis is circling the grand table map, whatever you want to call that thing.
And he's got the hand of the king in his hand, finally adorns it.
And I wrote hand on, it's on.
And I do think that this is a big turning point for that council.
and the other part of it is going to be Reneira reining everybody in.
She's aiming to do that this episode as well,
as we see when she hits Lord Belta balls or whatever the fuck is name.
I wrote it down.
I'll get to it.
We get there.
Yeah.
But the council arrives, and I like the nod to Jace,
if you saw Reneer look over to him before she starts talking and everything.
And I think that's important to note that she does take his opinion into consideration,
because we're juxtaposing these things.
We're watching each council work against one another.
The pitfalls of one is what Reneer is actually doing well.
You could argue that her only flaw is that she's lost total control.
She still has control.
Yeah.
But there's a lot of questioning, a lot of undermining, a lot of people saying they seem to have forgotten their place.
Yeah.
And the presence of the sea snake and that small council is going to make all the difference
because they're going to think twice before they undermine her.
They're going to think twice before they tell her she doesn't understand.
war because she's a woman. Corlis
will step in and they don't really want to go against the sea
snake, so that's a good move. I'm
happy that he was able to accept his
position now. Obviously, we saw
last week where his granddaughter was trying
to convince him of it. She did a great job of it.
He has nothing back a drift mark
because he did everything for Rainis. So now him
stepping in this way, instead of holding Renira
accountable for Rainis's
death, he's going to try to
help her out because he still has some love for her
and he wants to be there and he wants to try
to make this war work and make sure that it's not, you know, everything that he's lost hasn't
gone away for nothing. Correct. And Renera lays out the issues that they're facing as a team,
if you will. We don't have a land army. We need dragon riders. And how do we proceed? I stand alone
here. I don't know how to move forward. Stefan Darklin seems to be the answer. And the council
does every they do a visible ugh yeah like oh this is what we're doing great grandmother was a targaryens like
we're throwing hail mary's now with dragon riders this seems like a disaster waiting to happen what about rena up
she got denied she's not up for vermithor silver wing so and i get did she even try with sea smoke uh i forget
who she tried it with she did try it with one of the dragons and she barely lived is what they say right
So she is not an option.
Darkland Ryder could work.
They bring in Stefan Darklin,
and he is honored at the idea to even go forward and try this whole thing.
He doesn't even...
When she says, you might die, he's like,
I don't care.
They're gods.
The fact that you would select me is wonderful.
So he's just stoked at the opportunity.
And I love that he says, I wrote down, like,
I'm just a boy, because he wrote, like,
I'm just a man.
I'm just a boy.
You want me to ride a dragon?
I'm honored.

We get back to your favorite part of this show.
Damon is at Heron Hall, still going through his vision quest.
And this time he's back with Vassaris in the Iron Throne Room,
and he's reliving the moment where he was passed up.
before the crown.
Almost verbatim.
I believe it was the exact same speech he got.
The exact same speech that he got, obviously,
his side is a little different.
So it's slightly changed?
Vesaris's how he's responding.
Yes, it's how he's responding.
Vesaris is saying the exact same things.
I actually saw a really cool, like, TikTok or Twitter or whatever today,
where it had both scenes going side by side.
So Vesaris said everything that he said the first time,
it's Damon's responses to that that have changed.
And what you see from Damon's responses changing is before he was,
arrogant, vindictive, he was just angry at the premise that he could get passed up.
Like, this was guaranteed my role.
Like, what the fuck's going on?
In this scene, he is very upset about it.
The idea that he is going to miss on the opportunity to be king, he even says, like,
please don't say it while tears are running down his face.
They're showing a shift in who he is fundamentally.
They're showing that everything that has been buried by this character, Damon, up until this
point, he does have feelings.
He does have feelings.
And I do want to say for this scene, when he is crying and saying,
please don't say it, he's talking about Luceris choosing Renera.
So he's still not back at the point of, at least for what I think he needs to be at,
to be on Renera's side.
Because I think that he's eventually going to come back to Reneer.
He's eventually going to pledge fealty to his queen,
and he's going to fully be on her side and recognize her as the queen.
Yeah, I agree with that.
He's not there yet.
I also agree with that.
So that's why I'm thinking there's probably a.
another one.
We're probably going to get Vasaris once again.
There's going to be one more scene.
I'm not really sure.
You can honestly pick whatever you want from season one and say that's going to be the turning
point.
He's going to answer completely different.
Maybe it's when he goes back in after the stepstones and says that he wants Reneira.
Maybe he's going to do that again, but in a way of she's my queen.
And that's what he's going to turn into.
I don't know.
But he needs to get back to a point where he's accepting Reneer as the queen.
So that's why I think there's one more episode of his visions.
I think we might get a vision, but I don't know if it's going to be like this,
where he is just wandering the halls of Heron Hall,
like having an ayahuasca trip, I think.
Well, it could be the final one where he is doing that,
and then when he gets to the point that if you believe
that Alice Rivers is the one doing this,
trying to get him to a certain point,
once he reaches that,
then all of a sudden the sun's going to be shining
and it's going to be beautiful in Harron Hall.
I think that we're there, but we'll talk about that
when we get to that scene, but I did think that we were going to get,
you know, because we got to hold the door.
We got to open the door.
open the door.
Oh, we got O-door.
Odor and Hodor.
So maybe he turns into O-Dor at the end of this.
Because he's saying, open the door, open the door.
Not yet is what I got from this.
Not yet.
And that was what I thought was the nod to.
He's not fully on board yet because open the door for him to be able to walk through
the door.
Because I do believe that that door signified him being relieved of these visions,
being able to walk out and then contribute to the war again is getting through those doors.
Open the door, open the door, without the doors being open.
that to me, that was a not yet moment.
You're almost there, but we're not there yet.
Maybe it'll open directly into the scene next week that we saw at the end where he's dealing with the river lords, where they're actually there and he's still trying to raise the army.
Maybe he's finally going to walk through, show some emotions, show some remorse for his actions, because that's what this is all about, is all the things that he's done in the last season and a half that have led to terrible things.
Correct.
He needs to take accountability for it.
Maybe he finally does, and he walks out, and he's able to convince these river lords to give them.
his men. I do think there's going to be a visual scene where he walks through doors and that's
going to be like the opening like, all right, here we go. And he's back in the fight. But Sir Strong
opens the door, Sir Simon Strong opens the door to the council room and Damon's losing his
fucking mind. Like he's fully lost it. He's got a dagger to his throat, puts it in his mouth.
And he's accusing him of being a double agent. And he doesn't even know who he's a double agent for.
Yeah. Is it for Team Green? Is it for Reneera? Who is it for? Like, I'm on to you. And
everyone over there. I'm on to all. I love the guys that keep trying to stand up. It's like,
what are you going to do? That's my whole thing. All of you have been sitting in this
gross castle eating for an extended period of time. I don't think you're up for the
fight. Nope. Definitely not. He's been on a trip for four days. Yeah, my guy's unhinged. You don't
want that battle. He's going to, and by the way, maybe four days with how time goes in these
shows, he could have been on this trip for two months. I think it's longer than that too.
Like, he is unraveled, unhinged.
You feuds over there?
By the way, a lot of people in the comments in our reviews pointed out,
and I was trying to think of the only fans for medieval times.
Only feuds, was what I was thinking, a feudal state.
Only feuds, and someone else said only fiefs.
And I don't think that was it.
Only feuds is what I was trying to think of it.
So thank you, as everybody out there.
You got me down the path.
You opened the doors for me, if you will.
Good job.
Odor.
Odor.
but this is where he leaves
and he's got all his shit ready to go
he's walking on to Karexies and who's standing there
and wait is Alice Rivers and
he vents to her
he said something's wrong with me somebody's
poisoned me whatever the same shit we've heard
for the last few episodes but
she points out another flaw
of his anytime something's not
vibing with you you bounce you always run
away when things are not going your way
we're seeing that again and
the anger blinds
you and I think that was an important line
That's the whole thing.
You can't see what's been going on because you're so mad at everything.
And you also can't see that Vesaris never wanted the crown.
Reneiro was not vying for the crown either.
It was thrust upon them.
And the crown's not a prize, but the crown is a burden.
And I think that that is going to be the number one thing for Damon to be successful as a piece in this work.
She says, you are not a player.
You are a piece just like me.
And the minute you see that, you will be able to move forward and help and contribute.
but you're not one of the main players here
and you need to come to terms with that
and that the crown is a prize
or sorry the crown is a burden not a prize
right so he needs to figuratively give up his crown
if you will before he can move on.
Exactly.
He's got to rescind his bullshit claim to the throne
that he continues to hang on soon.
But that's why it's so funny
because we just saw that entire scene
where he's blaming Simon Strong
or somebody else in the house.
You walk out to Alice Rivers
and she's just sitting there
talking about the past about things
that she shouldn't be privy to,
and you're not going to claim
that she's the one doing it?
I think he's too,
whether she's either got something
in that potion,
that gross, like heart potion
that she gave him.
Frog in there.
Frog, whatever the fuck it was,
that has got him incapable.
Maybe that's like a side effect
is he can't turn on Alice Rivers.
Maybe.
Or maybe he trusts her
because she's been brutally honest.
Or maybe it's like the only reprieve
he has in this whole castle is her.
So he has a weird bond with,
I don't really know.
Possibility, yeah.
Poor crap.
He's, though, because he walks out and cracks.
He's like, fucking finally, let's get out of here.
Let me shake off my wings and we can get going.
Nope, you got to stay for another couple days.
You got to stay for three days.
And another big turning point is he asks her for counsel about the River Lords.
Like, what am I supposed to do here?
And she says, look, the Tullies are the most stable house in the Riverlands.
They're not the biggest, but they're the most stable.
They've been able to keep their people under wraps and are able to fight for you.
They will follow your lead if they're on board.
Yeah.
What can I do?
I can do nothing.
You know, you can't do shit.
You sit here and wait, and the winds will shift in three days.
I have an issue sometimes with the phrasing in this show.
It gets too medieval for me.
Yeah.
Like later, instead of saying 16, he's 10 and 6.
Yeah.
It's like you can say 6.
And you know what the biggest one?
My biggest bugaboo with this show is.
What's that?
When they say mine own instead of my own.
And it only comes up when they do it, if it's a one,
off where it's like, oh, he was my own.
Okay, there was a scene and I wrote it down.
I should have pointed it out when it happened.
They say mine own four times in a two-minute conversation.
I'm like, all right, that's too many times.
Just say mine or my own.
Yeah.
Mine own.
It's redundant.
I do feel like they do bounce back and forth between somewhat modern verbiage and the medieval
times.
It's very interesting, yeah.
And it bugs me when it's two on the head.
10 and 6, say 16.
Yeah.
Or some other phrase.
like a fortnight.
Yeah, just be consistent.
Consistency.
They were just medieval the entire time.
It's like, okay, we can get used to it.
Right.
Yeah.
But anyway, let's keep trucking.
We get to Dragonstone in the Dragon Keep,
and we are going through with the ceremony.
Stephan Darklin is stepping up to the plate.
He's panicked.
I'm panicked.
I was a little nervous during the scene.
I'm like, oh, God, I don't think this is going to go well.
I just never felt like it was going to end well.
Do you think that?
Because as we see, the scene plays out,
he gets up there.
see smoke bends the wing and then he's like shah i've done it my god it was that his flaw is is hubris
in that moment i think it's more like and you can say that c smoke is going to choose his rider later
or whatever but it looked like c smoke was ready to roll he was good that's what i was asking
celebrating a little too much up there he definitely it was a premature celebration but i also
thought just for a second i'm like um is he
T, like, is this legit?
Or is he feigning him a little bit?
Is he going to go to step on his wing and he's going to chop him?
That's what I thought was going to happen.
That's a possibility, yeah.
And he was going to goop and fly away.
Could just be a little tease.
Yeah, just like, oh, come on up here.
I'm not going to eat you.
No.
Sike, I'm going to eat you.
We're out of sheep and I'm starving.
Yeah, it just never felt like it was ever going to work.
No.
It would have been too easy if we spent last, and we would have complained about that, too.
Because last week, we get to find out that Jason Redier are going back through all of the bloodlines to try to find somebody.
They ended up finding somebody.
somebody within like 10 minutes of an episode, if you will, from last season or last
episode to this episode, and he just gets back on the horse, so to speak.
The dragon and just rides off into the sunset.
No.
No, it's too easy.
Especially, and this is no knock to Stefan Darklin.
I'm sure he's a fine fellow.
Everyone seemed pretty torn up that he was eaten or, sorry, torched.
Torched.
Yeah, very.
The other dragon herder or whatever.
Dragon keeper.
Dragon keeper, yeah.
Dragon helper.
Collateral damage.
That sucks.
He cut his own throat to avoid being born alive.
I think I would probably follow suit.
You know what I, and this is me thinking way too much,
but I was thinking that he did it with like dragon glass or something too
because that's what they believe.
That's the only way that they can go to dragon heaven.
Oh, I like that.
Got to do that.
I would say it's dragon glass because it didn't melt.
Probably.
That was right.
Or Valerian Steel didn't help out Egan too much.
Ooh, it didn't.
I'm just saying maybe it was too old.
Yeah, a little too old.
It also didn't fit, so I made to replace a couple things.
Oh, they're going to tweak it a little bit.
Maybe.
My other thing is, like I said, not a knock on sweet Stefan.
He didn't look the part.
He was walking up.
I'm like, this isn't the guy.
No.
This isn't the guy.
Like, when you see.
No swag.
You ought to have some swag to ride a dragon.
There's no way you can get it off of a dragon.
Be like, oh, I'm Stefan and look like you have a Prince Valiant haircut.
You're almost like chunky.
You need, you need cool.
Look at Damon's armor.
He's got a dragon helmet.
That's what you got to look like.
Yeah.
He had wings.
Come on.
We'd say you need to be able to serve face.
You know what that means?
Serve face?
Yeah.
You know what that means?
Just like a stoic looking face.
Like Jace does it all the time.
Amon does it all the time.
Or they're like mewing a little bit.
It means you serve face?
Yeah, serve face.
Oh, I feel like I serve face.
People say that I have resting bitch face.
That's a different thing.
No, I think I serve face.
Probably in the same realm, but not.
People think I'm mad a lot and I'm not.
No, it's more like a, I don't know.
I'll show you pictures later.
You'll figure it out.
I think I just look in the mirror.
Nope.
I think I just need to look in the mirror.
I'm pretty sure.
I'm serving your face.
You know what mewing is?
I do know what mewing is.
Okay.
So that's serving face.
It's always the Squidward.
That's serving face.
And some Squidward, serving face.
And some Squidward, definitely serving face.
And some Squidward can serve me any face.
My God.
Yeah.
Good Lord.
That's a hot.
You can serve my face.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, absolutely.
With a dragon.
You do with that what you will.
Let's keep going.
Corliss approaches Alan of Hull as we knew he would at some point and says,
it's time for you to say it with me,
Alan doesn't want to.
He's like, nah, I'm good.
Is this an order or a request?
And he's like, I'll see you on tomorrow to sail with me, bitch.
Now, we see it later.
I'm going to jump around a little bit because you get the scene with Adam and Alan.
And, Adam, and by the way, you know how they tweak their names because they're such plain names.
They just, it's spelled A-L-L-L-Y-N and A-D-D-A-M.
Yeah.
That's how, because they have boring names.
Like, we must spell them differently.
Makes sense to me.
Not really.
Was he shaving his head because he has white hair?
That's what I thought.
I think that's what it is.
That's what I thought.
Because Adam did say something to Alan about it.
You're not going to hide it. Yeah, you're still being, like, you're still trying to hide this.
It's like, does he, does his hair just come in white?
And everybody's going to be like, whoa, whoa, Valerian.
What my thought process was?
I have the same idea, but then I'm like, what, Adam doesn't have white hair.
Yeah.
He's got the, uh...
Maybe they have different mothers.
He's got the Valerian hair.
Yeah.
But not the white Valerian hair.
Yeah, and it's not like he dies it because he would have been proud of it.
Right.
yeah he would have flawed because he wants to be
he wants to get the recognition
I would like to think that Alan has white hair
I had the same thought
because that's the only reason I could put together
that he's shaving his head
Yeah and at the same time with Adam saying
Why are you hiding it?
Right yeah so I think that's what it is
Maybe we'll see him have just like as it starts to come in a little bit
And it'll be like a shade of white
Yeah that'd be cool
I don't know
Be into that
It's interesting that we get back to back scenes with bastards
Because right after that, we go to Ulf at the tavern.
And this whole scene was the propaganda battle that Masaria has put into play.
The woman that was in there as they're eating, even I could smell that soup.
And as they're talking about it, and it's like chunky.
He's like playing with it.
It's falling out of the spoon.
It's fish again.
I'm like, ugh, I smell the fish.
This is really gross.
But this whole scene is to show you that Kings Landing, one, is falling apart.
And two, the plants are in.
Masaria's people are in there spewing what they need to say, and she's like, oh, meanwhile, the banqueting up at the castle, I had a bunch of my girls go up there.
They were eating racks of lamb, partying.
They're not concerned about this in the slightest.
So that's the propaganda battle working.
And then for her to go on and say the true king, Rainera, or something along those lines, that was really important because that was showing the shift where it's like, oh, before she was the kinslayer.
now we're not eating.
Times is tough around here.
Times is tough.
I mean, look,
Amon's first act was after cutting down the rat catchers,
shutting all the gates.
Yeah, let's lock these people in here,
and they're not going to have any food.
So, yeah, they're going to freak out.
And that goes back to Amon being very good in the military,
not good with the small folk because he has no emotions.
Right.
He doesn't know how to reach them.
And that's going to be his flaw.
And we'll talk about that when we get back to the council.
But we get to Renera.
and as she's walking, Lord, what's his name, Balticor?
Lord B.
I think it's Baltimore.
Lord Baltimore.
Baltimore.
We'll call it Baltimore for now.
I know, I wrote it down later, I think.
So if I find it, I'll say it.
But this dude's barking at her as they're walking.
Like, I know you-
Write it down here.
I don't know where else you would have written it down.
When Jace talks about it later, I told you hit so-and-so.
I think I wrote it down.
I'd be really happy if I did.
But he's talking to her as though she's not the queen.
That was my biggest issue.
That's been my issue up until this point.
He's also doing it outside of the small council.
Because, again, Corliss isn't there.
Nobody's going to – Corliss and Jace – I mean, Jace speaks up now all the time.
So, yeah, I'm going to get her one-on-one, and I'm going to be able to speak my mind because this is how this works.
And she needs me.
And she's a woman, so she's going to listen to me.
She turns around and gives him a pop-pow right across the face and says to him,
I think that it's my fault that you've forgotten to fear me.
And the other part of this that's, you know, the other side of these idiots.
barking at her and undermining her and belittling her, you want her to stay safe so you have a fair
shake or a good chance at regaining the Iron Throne.
You are actively pushing her towards fighting in this war to prove a point, you idiots.
So hey, everybody, tone it down, remember where you fall here, because all she has to do
is point at one of her Kingsguard and say, hey, kill him, and guess what?
You're dead.
Yep.
So let's all remember.
I wish she honestly.
That's a good point.
I wonder how they don't figure that out,
but all they're really doing
is just pushing her more and more
towards getting on the back of a dragon
and just riding into battle.
It drives me nuts.
She talks about it too
at the small council meeting.
She's talking about how she feels helpless
and she wants to be able to do something.
Yeah.
So stop telling her that she can't do anything
because she's going to do the opposite.
Yep.
And he gets.
Yeah, exactly.
You're going to make her get on a dragon.
And lo and behold later.
Anywho,
yeah.
She's down in the library, dungeon,
whatever that place is.
And she's walking.
walking around with a bunch of swords, I thought this was important because this has been a place where she has met with Masaria to put different plans into play with her in the propaganda battle.
This seems to be her actual think tank where things get done.
So for her to now be bringing weapons and there are circling around the weapons and picking up that one and for Masaria to even go as far as say like that suits you or something along those lines, two questions.
And they might be rhetorical because I don't know if you can answer them.
but is that somebody's sword that from back in the day where the morning's going to be there?
No, because Amon's, because Damon has dark sister.
But there's other swords.
There's other swords.
I don't know what of his other sister wives had.
I know that one of them had dark sister, which is now Damans.
I would imagine that Agon's sword belongs in King's Landing.
So Agon slash Amon's probably have it.
Unless it's just the dagger at this point, that's the only thing.
left of them. So I don't think so
because there hasn't been any mention of it.
Yeah, I just didn't know if that sword had some...
I think you are onto something because obviously she was
reading about, what is it, Rheny's?
The original Rheny's.
Oh, the original rider of...
Yeah.
Of...
Jesus Christ, Vagar.
Vagar.
Agar's OG rider, also the wielder of Dark Sister.
Yes. And that's what she was reading last week.
So I think she's trying to morph into this warrior because that's what she's not.
Right.
That's what I've gathered.
Maybe bring like a Kingsguard guy down there and try to
get them to teach you some things.
Yeah, just doing it by yourself.
Reading books isn't going to help.
You never know.
Good.
Knowledge is power.
Knowledge is power.
But I would be curious if she learns out of fight.
But the important part of this is that Masari lets her know the small folk are listening in Kings Landing.
Things are working.
Our plan is working.
The kindling is in place.
And tonight, we light the fire.

Meanwhile, back in Kings Landing,
the small folk are starved.
Everyone's running out of food
to dole out to the people.
And as this is happening,
could not be a worst time.
You get a bunch of goats
just getting paraded through town.
Yep.
Assumably headed towards the Dragon Keep
to feed Vagar.
So not a great look.
And that's, I don't know,
that's got to be a nod once again
to Aymn being the king.
but I think Agon would have done the same thing.
And this goes back to what Ulf said in the tavern,
where he's like, yeah, Vassaros loved himself a banquet,
but he would never, if we were in dire straits as these.
He would be down here eating this first.
We don't know if they're actually banqueting, but...
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
They're not living in squalor.
No, exactly.
They're eating fine.
Yeah, they're definitely eating fine, so that doesn't really matter at all.
It's just, obviously, now you get to see.
And we already knew that there were different, I guess,
sections, if you want to call them taxes
of sheep going into the dragon
pits, why you're parading them on the streets,
I don't know why. That was silly. Kind of stupid.
It's a silly move. Uh-huh. Take Vagar
outside of the city to eat his sheep. Because we know the dragon pits
are outside of the city. Why?
I don't understand. I don't get it
at all, but immediately we go to
Amon, Laris, and I wrote the other guy.
I don't know what this man, the bearded man.
I don't know his name. Not sure who he is.
He comes up a lot and I never, he got like...
He's just on the small council. He's just there.
That guy. Yeah. The beard guy.
I thought he was a Barathean at one point, but I don't think he is.
He looks Barathean-esque.
Yeah, he does.
I could see that.
Dark hair, beard.
Yeah.
There you go, thick.
I don't know.
Yeah.
What did Ned Stark say when he was reading that book?
Brown of hair, brown of eyes, dark of eyes, whatever.
Yeah, that's Brathian.
Yeah, see, that, again, medieval terms of, oh, he's dark of hair.
Dark of, yeah.
He's got dark hair, whatever.
But you see here how small this council has been whittled down to.
It's three people, or is it four, was the Lannis.
or Tywin there.
Tylin's still there.
I think this was just a different meeting.
I think there were people showing up maybe.
Well, no.
I mean, the only other ones that could be there would be the Grandmaster who wasn't there.
He showed up late.
Allison's gone.
That's pretty much it.
And there's no hands because Kristen left.
The hand is out.
Kristen, by the way, no talking points this entire episode.
It was nice.
Yeah, he's irrelevant.
We don't have to worry about him.
He's done.
He's just throwing looks around.
He's just scared.
And I think that we're going to get a death from him where he has one more.
moment of I am manly enough and he gets fucking torched by a dragon.
That's my death prediction for him.
Yeah, who do you think is the next to die?
I know that we're just doing this in the middle of the episode.
It doesn't matter.
Our next death pool for me,
Kristen Cole, I think that way too.
I think he's honestly going to find a muster up courage again.
And the best way for him to die is to be like, I do got this.
I am tough enough and just,
it's got to be somebody on the greens.
It has to be to even it up.
Yeah.
It's got to be somebody big, too, especially if we got two episodes left.
He's not going to die just because...
He can't.
He can't.
There's something else going on.
There's going to be some weird redemption art going on over there, which we'll get
into it a bit.
I don't...
I think it's still too early for Amon's...
Kristen Cole...
Maybe Allison, I could see Allison after this.
I thought she's going to jump off that ledge.
Yeah, and I think she's going to try to do something stupid.
I don't know.
I really don't know who the next death's going to be.
Kristen Cole is my vote.
That's mine.
I'm pretty...
Maybe Corliss?
No.
Oh, maybe.
And then in his dying breath, he names Alan to the seat.
That could happen.
That could happen.
I'm going to go with that.
I'll go with that.
You're corless.
I'm Kristen Cole.
I like that.
In this moment,
Laris is trying to explain to Amon where he's falling short.
The small folk are pissed off.
They're hungry.
They're rioting.
They're not doing well.
How is that my fault?
Why are they mad at us?
It's Reneira's blocked.
It's like, because you're taking care of them.
Yeah.
It's your job to rectify the situation.
You've yet to do so because you're not even concerned with it.
You shut the gates and they're like, whatever, they're fine.
They'll handle themselves.
Don't worry about it.
We've got fish stew.
It's been sitting there for six weeks, but, you know, it's still edible.
He'll pick up some clams on the beach.
You'll be fine.
Yeah, but I was confused about that.
Clam picker?
No, the gates are shut.
Are they not shut to the beach?
Yeah, I don't think they're shut to the beach.
Why?
I don't know.
Why wouldn't she just go out to the beach and, like, swim around?
You could.
Okay.
I don't know.
That was, I had an issue with it.
Unless they have people that are out there for jobs that have to go pick the clans.
No, because everybody runs down to the shores later when the boats arrive.
That's a good point, too.
I was confused.
And why not just grab one of them boats and push off?
Maybe the gates aren't, like, actually shut, but there's a city watch there.
That doesn't make sense.
That's what they do normally.
Yeah.
There's always a city watch at the gates.
And that also.
They're not letting people out unless you have a job.
Then how does everybody get out?
Because everybody probably went at one time.
They bum rushed it?
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't, that doesn't...
This seems flimsy at best.
A lot hole.
Yeah, I don't like it.
But in this moment,
Laris lobbies for himself to be the hand of the king.
Extremely unsuccessfully.
Yeah.
Because Amid immediately sees through what he's doing.
He's like, mm-no, no, no.
You towed.
You toad.
I love that.
I love that, too.
I loved that.
I did too.
He's like, no, not, I'm not a fool.
I need you to go.
to get Otto, which is the best move.
That is the best move by far.
When he brought Otto up, I was like, oh, that's a good play.
Otto masterfully handles the small folk.
He always has.
He is that best connection, whether you like him or not, somewhat irrelevant.
Because, yeah, he's irritating.
He's annoying.
But he will give you that middle ground of,
I understand what we need to do for the small folk.
At the same time, I'm not going to just bend at every will that you have.
I'm going to tell you when you're being an idiot.
I'm going to tell you when something's dumb.
And I do think that Amon has enough respect for him.
to be like, okay, I'll listen to Otto.
He's been here for three kings at this point.
Let's bring him back into the fold.
So I'm excited to get Otto back into the game.
Yeah, it's a smart move by Amon.
Actually, I really liked this scene with Amund
because he immediately stops Laris,
who was, as you said, lobbying for himself in so many ways.
And he tries to do it so secretively.
It's like, nah, you little rat.
That's my own thing.
That's fun.
Who's going to get fooled by that guy?
The Master of Whisper starts talking to me like,
you're full of shit, buddy.
Yeah, Agon?
Well, yeah, but Agon's an idiot.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly. That's how he got to the council in the first place.
Look, he didn't kick him off the council.
He just said absolutely not.
Kick him off the tour, Doug.
He doesn't have anybody else to replace him with.
No.
Losing council members left him right.
I don't think he cares.
I don't think he cares either, but he's not doing what Aegon did and just employing everybody.
You're kind of nice to me.
You're a good friend.
You're a drinking buddy.
I'm going to put you in the Kingsguard.
Like, no.
You're seeing the opposite, honestly.
I'm going to whittle this down to only what I need, not my buddies.
Yes.
All right, that makes sense.
I don't think Avent has friends, so.
No, I don't think he's capable.
It does not.
It's just that one madam at the brothel is his only confidant.

of the Donner Party, and shining summits for achievements like the Transcontinental Railroad.
We'll go back to the earliest days of explorers and mountain men and head up through notorious
Pinkerton agents and gunmen like Tom Horn. Every episode features narrative writing and cinematic music,
and there are hundreds of episodes available to binge. I'm Chris Wimmer. Find Legends of the Old
West, wherever you're listening now. Goodbye. Summer movies, Hello Fall. I'm Anthony Deveny.
And I'm his twin brother, James. We host Raiders of the Lost Podcast, the ultimate movie podcast,
and we are ecstatic to break down late summer and early fall releases. We have Leonardo DiCaprio
leading a revolution in one battle after another,
Timothy Chalemay playing power ping pong in Marty Supreme.
Let's not forget Emma Stone and Jorgos Lanthamos' Bugonia.
Dwayne Johnson, he's coming for that Oscar in The Smashing Machine,
Spike Lee and Denzel teaming up again,
plus Daniel DeLewis's return from retirement.
There will be plenty of blockbusters to chat about two.
Tron Ares looks exceptional, plus Mortal Kombat 2,
and Edgar Wright's The Running Man starring Glenn Powell.
