Episode Date: December 11, 2024What's up Bros? We have a new show on Bravo and it is Sold on SLC. In this show, we dive into the real estate world of Salt Lake City via Presidio. Run by Jennifer Yeo, its a firm dealing with big hou...ses, fancy properties and they have a team to match it. In this first episode, we do some intros to get to know everyone. It seems like Matt will take a center stage this season as last years top salesmen, and this year having zero net sales, he is struggling to be the sole provider for his family. Lisa Barlow makes an appearance with Sarah, an agent at Presidio, whose husband owns a competing real estate firm. Tyna, another presidio agent, has some beef with Matt, because apparently Matt was spreading rumors that she doesn't believe in god. While we appreciate some drama in our shows (obviously) we felt like this first episode was rushed. We need to get to know people more before we start diving into the drama because we currently don't have any investment in this cast yet. We meet Malaysia, who had previously worked for Presidio and now has found her way back. Tyna's back story is very interesting as well, as a former LDS church member, she speaks about how being one of, if not the only, black, lesbian woman in a community full of LDS members. Jennifer comes in hot as the centerpiece for this show and we appreciate what she is trying to do, it just feels like a lot of episode 1 was forced. We hope they hit their stride and it becomes a little more organic, but we also are aware of early season blues as a show gets up and running. Covering a little sold on Salt Lake City today seems to be a bit of a crossover.
We got some Lisa Barlow action in there.
And, yeah, first thoughts.

Or do you not like the show?
No, look, it's the first step.
I always tread lightly with first episodes.
There are some things that we'll talk about when we get into it that were,
blaringly apparent to me that I think is going to be something that should work itself out as
they get more comfortable. I give grace to these shows. I understand it takes some time to get
comfortable and figure out who plays what role, who's going to be the standout. You'll get a lot
of people early on vying for that spot, which is what we got out of this episode. That's a lot of
people that have not been in front of the camera and you can tell. So I will give grace as we work
through the speed bumps, if you will.
I think there's something here.
I think that any time you deal with a reality show centered around real estate, it tends to
give it a buffer because the houses are cool.
And when you're in a place like Salt Lake City, where the real estate and just the,
that architecture in general, like you're going to get big sprawling estates.
You're going to get really cool backyards, awesome scenery, big windows.
You're going to get cool houses.
So it's going to give them a little bit more.
more leeway as far as performance goes right that being said that will run its course pretty quickly
so they have a chance i see what they're doing i don't hate it i didn't love it but i will i'll reserve
judgment to really drop i'll give them three episodes before i pass judgment on whether or not
i think this is going to stay or if they need to rethink the whole thing what about you i think
that's fair. See, I've never really got into the, like, the real estate shows that are on.
I haven't either.
A million dollar listing. Whatever the fuck Maricio's was called. They got canceled after one season.
Agency. Agency. That's a little call it. It wasn't called that, but I'll just call it agency.
Yeah, we'll just call it that. So I don't really don't think. And I, I'm just going to be honest here.
I'm probably going to end up offending realtors that listen to our podcast because.
sorry guys. It's just, it's inevitable. And I'm going to get ahead of it now and apologize. I'm not being mean to you personally. The career aspect of being a realtor is at some point I'm going to offend people. Let's just be very honest. These people are on this show look like idiots. And it looks like the type of person that had no idea what they wanted to do for their career. And they just kind of ass backwards fell into this. And now they think that they're better than us. That's what I get.
from this. And I don't like it. I don't care for it. You get two types of realtors. There's
the ones that I do believe make a career out of it. It's a very lucrative career, right? Because
of the commissions you get, especially if you're dealing with real estate over a million dollars
in Utah. You can make a ton of money with this shit. And they're also in an interesting
market because of the Mormon church. There's a lot of money in Salt Lake City. I don't have any
issue with realtors. I like people that want to do their own thing. You know that. That
I've built my whole life on that.
So I get it.
I understand what you're saying.
And that speaks to like,
you know,
I follow people that I've known forever on Instagram.
And all of a sudden one day they wake up as a realtor.
And now they drop all these videos, right?
You know,
everyone's seen the real estate videos.
I would appreciate it if they had their own spin on it.
Right.
Like if somebody came to me with a new take on real estate videos,
I'd be stoked,
but they're all the same.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Like Brooks.
Brooks is doing this thing.
where he's showing his listings, but he also highlights the food in the area.
So it's like a foodie plus that's a different spin.
And he showed me one of his cuts.
And it was really, I was like, oh, wow, because I watched the whole thing.
I was interested in the food.
And then I was like, oh, cool.
And it shows the neighborhood.
It shows the restaurants.
It shows the house.
I was like, that's a new take.
I like that.
When I see somebody I know and I know that they live in, you know, a modest home,
they have a modest family, a modest income.
And the video is then pulling up in a rangeover, they all of rangeovers.
to this beautiful listing and they get out in like a swanky suit and all this stuff
and they make it seem like there's somebody they're not that's when I have a problem
and that's something I see in this show where I'm like okay and I think that's kind of what
you're pointing to a little more brash you are but that's who you are and I appreciate that
I think that's what the kind of the vibe you're getting where it's like I am better than
everybody because I small houses more times than not and I'll just take it another level
because why not the people that you're referring to that you know i've known for a long time
and then all of a sudden they're realtors they're typically idiots that i know couldn't pass like
algebra one that you know that's fair were dickheads in high school or dickheads in grade school or
whatever it may have been and now all of a sudden they're realtors and they're like yeah you got to
come check it out and i'm like i wouldn't trust you with fucking anything i'd have a pet goldfish
and i'd be worried about its health and i would not trust you with it so yeah i'm probably
not going to come to you for real estate.
But either way, that's just my general vibe for that.
And I hope it doesn't cross over.
But in this first episode, they all strike me like those types of people that, let's be
honest, staging a fucking house and getting things together does not seem like the hardest thing
in the world.
And somehow they're making it hard, leaving a litter box out in the open.
I know.
It should be 101.

And smell fucking cat poop and piss everywhere.
should make sense to me no i'm going to leave it out i didn't know where to put it because the cats
still need to do their business the cats are in the basement go put it down there you dumb ass so
there shouldn't be cast in the house at a showing either that didn't make any sense to me there put them away
go take them with the person who's selling the house yeah so yeah none of this really makes a whole lot
of sense to me but maybe i'll work through it maybe i'll get to a point where i understand the type of
person they are and i can learn to enjoy it right now i'm like uh i don't know i don't like i think you're
going to have to, it's like the Southern Charm idea where you got to accept some of them
where they are. Like, this is going to be the vibe. And they're all vying to be that top dog,
as we saw. It's going to be that vibe the whole time. And just to put a period on the
realtor conversation, we're not speaking to any of you that have made a successful career
of real estate. That's why I prefer that way. Yeah, we're talking about a very specific type of
realtor. And career realtors that are listening to us, you probably know exactly who we're talking about.
Yeah, I think that's the thing. They can, they can,
understands that we're not talking about
them because they're very good at their job
they made a whole career out of it. We're talking
about the idiots that probably fell for
some sort of MLM scheme
and they're yelling knives on the doorstep.
Yeah, and then they're like, oh, what am I going to do next?
Like Matt, Matt sold freeze-dried
fruits and now he works in
real estate. Exactly, yeah. It's honestly
it's the type of people that go
on Instagram and post a story saying
my next chapter, like they're Kevin
Durant going to the fucking Warriors. No,
you're in, you're in,
in massive crippling debt and you don't know what to do because you don't really have a lot of
life skills. So you're going to go ahead and do this.
Those are the people talking about. You didn't pay attention in school and now you're
scrambling. Yeah, that's what we're talking about. But yeah, let's, let's move on to the
episode. How about that? Yeah, let's jump in because here's the thing. When it comes to
premieres, especially new shows, they don't tend to take a long time to review. It's a lot of
intros, getting to know people, trying to feel out the vibe for this show. And we start out
with Jennifer Yeo, who is the owner of Presidio.
That's the real estate group, and it's obviously in Salt Lake City.
She comes in, this is my first issue.
There needs to be a level of authenticity out of the gate for me to fall for the show.
I need to buy that when I'm not watching you, this is how you carry yourself.
It feels very produced.
It feels very set up.
She feels like she's trying to do the most.
with her scenes and trying to find the iconic lines, they will come naturally.
They take time.
You have to build your brand first.
We're not going to buy into the shit you're saying if we don't know who you are.
She comes in really hot.
And I didn't love that.
I get you got to announce your presence with authority, new show, got to stand out.
Great.
Great.
I didn't believe her.
I didn't believe it.
I believe that she runs a successful firm.
I believe that she makes a ton of money.
I believe all of that.
Her attitude, I'm like, it's not flowing when you talk.
And I picked up on it really, really quickly,
and especially when we get to the team meeting
and she's got to talk and everybody.
And my first question is,
how often do we actually do this?
Is this an actual sit down that we have frequently?
Do you think?
Yeah.
On the show or in real life?
Realistically, I think it's really.
All right.
I'll be your office correspondent for things.
Oh, that's good because I don't have office experience
because I think offices are the devil.
Yeah, I look, I think they'll go broke before I work in an office.
Yeah, I think informally, look, I'm pretty sure the majority of them probably don't go to the office ever.
They're just doing listings and calling it.
That's what I'm saying, yeah.
All of them in there, yeah, it's probably a weekly thing.
And then there's a bunch of informal meetings, which I'm sure we're going to see at some point.
But yeah, I think it's a real thing.
Okay, fine.
But her firm Presidio is like the Barbie brokerage is like the nickname for it because it's a lot of women, which I think is cool.
I think that in a male run state, you know, we have.
our opinions about the Mormon church. We have our opinions about just the culture of it all,
like the religion aside, we don't love the patriarchy that seems to run every single little
thing in Utah. So I like the fact that she is a female business owner. I like the fact that
she tries to highlight her female brokers. I think that's all awesome. I like that when we start
to meet the women in the brokerage, it's a lot of strong personalities. You get Tina, who's the
unicorn as she calls herself.
And I can't imagine there's a whole lot of Tina's in Utah.
She is a black lesbian single mom.
Formerly of the LDS church, formerly married to a man in the LDS church,
has since moved on from men.
Good for you.
She is now with a partner.
BJ, I think we find out later, is her name.
So love that.
I liked her.
Again, you're going to have to just, for everybody watching or planning on watching,
just understand that we're going to,
get people hot out of the gate they're trying to make a name for themselves immediately so it's a lot
of forced stuff it's a lot of forced one-liners a lot of blowing out your chest trying to stand out
so that's why i reserve judgment we meet malaysia and she's coming back to the firm
she has been gone for a year or so she's only been in real estate for two years so she is working
your way up but people are threatened by the fact they're questioning her motives this is when i
started to get like, okay, we're clearly trying to fabricate some drama amongst the firm,
and that becomes more apparent later.
That's where I'm going to have a problem is if you have to manufacture everything that's
going to happen here, it's too easy to pick up on.

And from what I understand of the real estate world, it is not that weird or really like any sort of broken.
It's not that weird to just jump from company to company to company.
Typically, you're not going to be there for years on end.
And if you're going somewhere else, especially in a place like Salt Lake City, there's
probably like two, maybe three big firms.
So it's not that weird that somebody wasn't getting what they were getting.
Maybe they weren't getting the listing that they wanted.
Maybe they couldn't find a place for themselves.
So they went to a different company.
Yeah, like they went to a different company.
It's not the fucking end of the world and it's not that big of the deal.
I think they're going to try to push that down our.
throats and I'm not going to be here for it just because yeah maybe to the layperson who
doesn't understand anything they're going to be like oh my god that's crazy they're poaching clients
it's like now that shit happens all the time and like you work on commission alone so it's not like
they're like if they're not earning for you anyway like she does say like two or three of her top
earners went that you would have a problem with but 14 brokers amongst a firm because the natural
progression from what I gather in real estate is you start at like a Keller Williams or something
that's like a national brand just to get your feet wet, learn the robes, then you kind of move
on to maybe more of a boutique firm with the goal probably being your standalone company at
the end of this to where you're making all of your money. I would imagine that's the natural
progression. So I would think that this is a step up from like a national brand of realty.
Again, I'm just going to keep using Keller Williams because it's all I can think of up the top
of my head. Coldwell banker works too. Caldwell banker. Right. So like those types of
firms. So I would imagine this is a step up from that, a little bit more lucrative, a little more
boutique you get the the bigger listings the off the market kind of stuff like that so again to your
point you know they recruit however many brokers as they can probably that seem like they might
be a good fit because you're taking a gamble you're saying all right well it's it's a win win for me
if you don't earn for me i'm not paying you anything anyway it's not like you have a stipend
to where i'm paying you x amount of money you have to sell a house for me to pay you so when she's
bitching and moaning about 14 of her brokers getting poached, it's like, yeah, but the,
the net income of that 14 might have been a hundred grand.
Like, we don't know what they're making.
So it doesn't land.
And I think that it's supposed to, it's supposed to invoke that there's a war between real.
I guess their name.
Yeah, they, they say at the end, I fucking forgot already.
It's real.
It's real versus Presidio.
But we don't know enough.
If you show us the books, maybe.
I need tangible things here because just poaching brokers isn't going to get me riled up about Presidio.
Well, and I think what they're doing is when they show somebody like Tina and they show Matthew,
how much money they've been like earning or rather how many houses they've sold in their gross profit,
whatever it might be.
That's what they're trying to do.
And the reality, I like that.
I like listing like, okay, 150 total sales.
Sure, yeah, like $115 million over the last year.
that's great. And I think the reality of this industry is more what Matthew's going through where
he was the salesman of the year last year. And in the Q1, he didn't make any sales. He's got a flat zero
and he's freaking out because he has to provide for his family. And like, that is the reality
of commission-based working. That's what's going to happen. So if they can dig into that a little
bit and show the ebbs and flows of that, that could be cool. That could be interesting to show
Matthew going from making X amount of dollars in his commission last year to zero in Q1.
for this year and how it affects his family how his wife's money has to actually do that how he
financially plans and how they have to work through this those are things that are interesting because
that's a storyline and that's real that's actually real life implications are things that we look
for on these shows so if they can delve deeper into that instead of just manufactured drama
between the two because i'm already pegging it for what it is sarah's husband is the CEO of real
so yeah there's going to be some drama in there i imagine that a couple of his brokers are
probably going to pop up because it's not called presidio it's called sold on salt lake city so i'm
sure the other brokerage is going to be involved in some way shape or form and we're going to
i would imagine them too so i think that that's what they're going to try to make the overarching
storyline is this rivalry between the two firms just don't make it so apparent you know what i mean
don't like don't try to jam it all over the i i'm having a really hard time jam it all over the place
I'm having a really hard time with terminology right now.
It's been a long week.
What are we going to do?
This is what our fucking six or seventh show of the week.

But no, I then to your point with Matt,
like what I did get from that was a little bit more authentic of a performance.
I did believe what he was saying.
I don't think that he is, you know,
potentially cut out for this line of work given what we've seen from him thus far,
the way that he set up that house.
And the other part of that,
like that was a broker's open
which means that it needed to be
like a step above and he left
like personal care items out like
there's fucking like face cream
I know that the two things that they
are going to judge me on in this is
the way that the house looks
and the charcutor and the charcutory
so you leave the cat litter box out
yeah dude and you're leaving face creams
out well it needs to look lived in it's like no
it doesn't I don't want to walk through a house
or looked that good to be honest
no it was it was whatever I looked like you to pick it up
at the local grocery store, but like, from Aldi.
It seemed to be pretty, don't, don't you bash all the, Aldi's the shit.
I'm not bashing Aldi.
I'm just saying that you and I would get a charcutory board from Aldi.
I'm not going to get one for a broker's open.

He seems to be trying to figure out his way through this.
What he has, according to the people on the show, I haven't seen it yet, but they keep telling
me he has charisma.
I haven't seen it, but that's what everyone's forcing down my throat or jamming all over
the place, as you say.
But we get to meet Sarah, who's not at the meeting.
Sarah is married to Chris, who is the owner or operator of real estate.
Real estate.
Real real estate.
That's what we're calling it.

That is Chris, and that's Chris's wife.
She wanted to be her own woman, not rely on him.
So she moved over to Presidio, which is cool.
I like that.
I like that set up.
That's what it's being set up as.
And that's my whole thing, because the way that, even the way they frame this scene, they're in the meeting.
Like, well, where's Sarah?
Dun, done.
It cut over.
She's doing a showing.
Yeah, like, she's doing a showing for a $3.5 million house.
Wouldn't you rather be earning for you than sitting in a room?
And that's what these people are doing.
They're all just like, I've got this great listing and they hype each other up.
It's like, until you have a buyer, none of this shit matters, guys.
She has a potential buyer and Lisa Barlow.
We get a little LB.
She comes in.
She.
arguably steals the show
just by being herself.
She's asking for all of these,
as they're looking through the house,
like the minute we pulled up,
I'm like,
that's not good enough.
She's not going to like this place.
They look,
the ceilings are way too low.
And then she starts listing off
everything she needs in this house.
And they're like necessities.
And it's a salon,
a spray tan room,
a red light sauna,
a red light treatment room,
a mail room.
Like,
boop, boop, boop,
like so specific that that just tells me
at no point,
was she planning on buying anything you were planning on building the whole time my one lisa barlow
is my must must talk about i know this is not ross lick we're about to do that after this
it fucking cracks me up when she's like oh i went to london and i spent so much at prada that
they invited me to wimbledon do you know how much cheaper it would be to just buy a ticket to wimbledon
like i'm not but you know what you get to sit in the prada box at wimbledon that's probably
really sick so who cares like it's just such a funny it's just such a funny it's
It's just a great Lisa Barlowism.
And, you know, she's going to build, which again, Sarah, who you're claiming is poaching brokers from your firm has just landed a build, which is going to make you way more money than a sell, like selling a $3.5 million home.
Now she gets to sell the lot.
She gets to do all of that stuff.
So it's like, whatever.
It's just going to get hard if they don't figure out how to do this stuff organically.
Right.
And we're clearly seeing that they're trying.
to pit real against Presidio and I don't care yet and it was too soon to force this narrative
before we get to know the people involved but Tina and Matt is another one that this irritated
me as well because you know the conversation seems fake it doesn't seem real Tina's pissed
off because apparently Matt told some of her clients that she doesn't believe in God which yeah
in Utah in Salt Lake City that's going to be a pretty damning thing to say
because the majority of your clients are going to be of the Mormon church or of some kind of faith.
It's a religious state.
We get that.
It's going to damage business.
But again, I have no investment in these characters.
So if you want me to get involved in their fight, I need to have somebody I'm rooting for.
As of right now, I don't really care for either of these characters.
I don't know anything about them.
You're telling me that she sat down with her best friend.
I'm like, I don't know who your best friend is.
I'm supposed to believe her.
Yeah, no, that's a really good point, too.
And I think that instead of being worried about real poaching your bro.
maybe be worried about Matt poaching clients from Tina by telling her, telling her friends that
she doesn't believe in God. Or just ruining sales in general. Yeah, like that's going to turn
everybody off of the entire firm. They're just going to go over to reel. They're going to
go somewhere else. Who cares? That's not really what's going to happen. And I don't even know
if Matt did this because who, like, we have nothing here. We don't know who these people are.
We don't know what their tendencies are. Maybe three or four episodes from now, we'd be like,
oh, shit, I could see Matt doing that. Now I'm like, he looks too.
timid. He looks worried about his income. Maybe he is doing it. Maybe he's not. I don't really
know what to think. You can't throw this in our face in episode one. It's not going to like sit
with us and be like, whoa, that's a really good icebreaker for this. It should be intros. It should
be intros. It should not. We should not dive into drama until the final scene when we have now,
like, we've watched 40 minutes of this whole crew and keep it concise. We don't need to be
introduced to everybody immediately either. Keep it to three or four people, then bring
more in next episode and then at the end I guess if we do get more
intros after that fine but like keep it concise where I'm getting to know what
they do what kind of listings they're showing what's their background which they
did some of that but they started to introduce the drama too early so now by the end of
the episode again it should have been intro intro intro we got two minutes left they're
about to roll the credits on screen and then something happens where you're like oh oh
interesting like they're not getting along why don't they like each other that would have
been a better setup because now why are Tina and Matt fighting you know exactly yeah why are Tina
and Matt fighting and it it looked from a reality TV standpoint Tina is way more prepared than Matt
is Tina is already ready for the role yeah yeah and I don't like it to be fair I didn't know
it didn't come off it came off manufactured as shit yeah it came off manufactured and it looked
like Matt had no idea this was even going to happen and he got up and walked away and they're like
oh there he goes Matt's always going to get up and walk away and like does he is he always going to
know that I don't know that we just met Matt like two minutes
go i have no idea what he's going to do and it looked like tina was just trying to establish yourself
as a no bullshit go-getter you're not going to get this over on me type of person it's like okay
that's kind of cool i get that but matt just getting up and walking away like there's no drama like
what you wanted from this scene is for the two of them to butt heads and then jen comes in and
breaks it up and then you get to talk about how the company is more important than anything
individually that you guys are going to do whatever if you want to do that that's fine but not getting
up and walking away you don't really get the delivery you don't get anything to come from it and it's just like
okay like what are we doing here i don't know that's the thing it's like i don't know what to think
because i don't know who these people are and i definitely don't know Tina's best friend yeah i'm like
we pride ourselves here especially to not just believe everything we're hearing right take all
of the information yeah and like you're not giving us enough info to formulate an opinion we're
supposed to take Tina on her word meanwhile matt looks terrified he doesn't know what's going on
and he just keeps saying like that's the most trivial thing I've ever heard which to me points to I think you said it and I think now you're like fuck that was stupid because nothing good's going to come of this and it was trivial I shouldn't have said that but again I'm not invested yet so I don't really know but whatever we'll just keep trying to frame it as the intro episode you get to see jens listing they have 18 washing machines because the Mormon family so they have 18 kids so that makes sense uh you get Matt and Nicole and that's his wife they met this is like they could have done
this for every character right take me to their house introduce me to their partner their
kids where they came from what their background is that would have been a much better start i think
but you get to meet matt and Nicole post mission is when they met they dated for two months he lived
beneath her in an apartment then they ended up getting married they got engaged at the olive

out more that's why these scenes are better for a first episode or two because you get to hear
salesman of the year last year, zero net income for quarter one.
They have to rely on Nicole's income a little bit during this whole process to make
sure the family's taken care of.
He's upset that he's not the sole provider, which, you know, we believe here that everyone
should, exactly, it's the Mormon thing.
It's a cultural thing.
I don't want to speak on it too much.
He's grateful for her effort with everything, but he feels lesser than because he's not
the sole provider, whatever.
That's their family dynamic.
I'm not going to talk about it.
but what it does is paints you the picture of okay so this is what matt's goal is this is what
we're going to watch him try to do is make a name for himself in real estate because he wants
to be able to provide a life for his family that he is proud of boom i have his directive now
now i can understand why and where he's moving i don't have that for other people really and that
was an important first step for him i hope that they are able to do that with more people as we go
and it's simple it's just by bringing you into their house and being like this is
where they come from. I'm like, okay, cool. I know him now. Now I can start to potentially get
invested. But what did you think of Matt? Like, all said and done now that we've had his intro,
like, what's your take on Matt? Matt is exactly who I was thinking of in the beginning of the
episode when we started talking about typical real estate brokers, real estate agents.
He just kind of fell ass backwards into this. He was probably looked at, oh, you're a good looking
guy. There's somebody that he went to school with or somebody. Are you sick of selling freeze dried fruit?
this is way more lucrative and you're tall and handsome and you've got charisma which we still haven't
seen haven't seen yet nope and you would be great in this field okay i'll do it what do i need uh
a high school diploma big time i'm in let's find your real estate license yeah yeah then who
knows how long that took him to get but yeah that that's who i was thinking of i that's all i can
see really i'm happy that we got a little bit of his family because it looks like he is you know
in the Mormon way of family man and he wants to perform
for his family and that's great i like to see that that's way more that we got out of anybody else in
this show i you know i'd like to get more from jennifer she's supposedly going to be the head honcho
of the show she's a ceo let's see her doing things let's see what her family's like let's see
what everything's going on a little bit at the end but it's just it's still so forced not it's it's
completely forced and yeah i don't know we i feel like we got more backstory out of matt than anybody
else and maybe they're going to do it this way we're next episode we're going to get more out of
Tina maybe the third episode we get more out of Jennifer I don't know how they're going to go about it
because now it's like four episodes in I'm like I still don't know everybody I think they're worried about
the show coming on right after Salt Lake they're not going to be free boost yeah you're going to get
that free boost for sure but still let's start it off with a little bit of drama let's get it involved
let's have Lisa Barlow in there in the first seven minutes let's go ahead and do this I think that's
kind of what they were going for instead of what we would prefer, which is, here's this
person, here's their backstory, another person, here's their backstory, and then start everything
up towards the end, which is sort of the equation that we look for.
That's the equation that we're used to. It's not us just like coming off with something
on the top of my head. It shows that we tend to get involved with. Look at the valley.
That's our professional opinion. Thanks, thanks, Ryan Bailey. We've used that every episode since
Ryan Bailey told us we have professional. But, I mean, you look at the Valley, right? They did a good
job of that the people who didn't know they brought us in and we got to know them first and then we
understood dynamics as they started to get into drama we're trying to pick up dynamics with no
background and that's really difficult to do because we're just going to jump to assumptions
but a great example is you get janetina and tina's house it's like all right we're at tina's
house we get to learn about bj her partner and a little bit more about her dating and being married
to a man in the LDS church and leaving the church and all of that.
Okay, great.
But we immediately go from there to the shady agents conversation of,
well,
I heard Sarah's doing this.
And even Jen's reactions,
I'm like,
how many takes did that take?
Right.
Like,
it's just not playing real between the two of you.
And that bugs the shit out of me.
And she brings up the Matt stuff.
And that would have been the time,
right?
If she brings this up now,
we've gotten to see Matt with his family.
This is our second time.
You know that he's not making any money.
We know he's not making money.
So maybe he's a little bit jealous or something like that.
Maybe he's a little bit pissed off.
I don't know.
But now if she goes,

people walking in with stuff in their hands walking in that way i don't know what the hell was going

But I needed this earlier to buy into the other stuff because now you've wasted an entire episode where I don't care.

formula. Let us get to know people first. That's all. It's all we need. That's really all
we need. And I thought this was too little and too late. We didn't get a whole lot on Jen
who's supposed to be the star of the show. It's just a little bit of a nugget. Like this is
what her life was. This is what's going on. It didn't really show us how she built her,
let's call it an empire. Let's see where she started. She started. She started
off here. Show us some pictures.
She said she started out broke.
Okay, cool. Great. How did you
get from there? And then you became a real estate
agent. Then you fell in love with real estate. Okay,
great. Where did you start? Did you start
working for a real? Did you start working
for a different company? Were you in Salt Lake?
There's so many things that we need to know.
And I feel like they didn't do anything. And they're focusing
on the relationships, which is fine, I guess.
It's just now that I'm
looking back, obviously this happens every time that we're
recapping. They started
off. They should have just gone right from
that meeting to, this is Jen.
Let's learn all about Jen.
Let's learn all about Sarah.
Let's learn all about Tina.
Instead, they just started off with, where the hell is Sarah?
Oh, and then the end of the episode is doing her goddamn job.
Sarah's with her husband, who is the CEO of a rival company.
Oh, boy, they're poaching clients.
Oh, no.
That's fucking great.
Yeah, they wanted to make that the whole thing.
And I don't agree with that.
They tried to jump the gun.
I don't know why.
I don't know what pressure they had to get out.
of the gate so fast to where
they're trying to force drama
and that's the thing.
I would have been okay also
if it didn't feel the way that it felt.
Like as I'm watching Chris and Sarah
and Jen sit down to have this
conversation at the end,
even the phone call
to Darren on the way there
where she's like, he's like, I don't like that they made you
come to them. I'm like, why wouldn't she? I don't
understand. Like, why is they going to call
her because her brokers are coming
to their firm unless they actually are
poaching. And if they are poaching, that's even less of a reason for them to
come up. They don't owe Jen anything. She wants an explanation. So in my head,
I'm like, that makes sense. If she wants to talk about it, go to them. Right. So you're
trying to get us invested in, I already forgot the fucking Presidio. At this juncture, we might be more
real people. I don't know. But you have to let us build. Right now I'm team real. Right now I am
indifferent. I don't give a shit about either of them. I don't care because we watch this scene where
going back and forth and Chris and Sarah, it's like people leave real estate companies.
It's sad.
Sure, you lost somebody, but this shit happens all the time.
You know this business goes.
No, I'm not poaching your clients.
And this is also a scathing indictment on Sarah.
That's my bigger thing here is like, let's say this all plays out.
It turns out that they're not poaching anybody.
You're questioning the independence, which is something that Sarah claimed that she wanted.
You're questioning her motives.
You're questioning her loyalty.
you like if i'm sarah i'm getting way more bent out of shape about this because you went to jet
and said i my whole goal is to stand alone and be my own woman i don't want to have to rely on my
husband and his money great that's awesome but now you're saying it's all a ruse for chris so now
you're saying that all of this i want to be my own woman is bullshit she's actually doing more
for the men because she wants to prove to chris that she can be lucrative and steal brokers like
I don't think that they put enough emphasis on how damning this is on the character of Sarah.
And Sarah doesn't seem to care that much.
And that's where I'm like, this isn't real.
Yeah.
Because there should be a bigger reaction.
And the conversation that you're now having at the end of this episode seems pretty cut and dry.
And Jen keeps trying to force it.
Well, it just seems shady to me.

So can we just get to know people first?

my company and they can get better listings here so they popped over and I'm sure in a year you're
going to get a couple of those people back probably whatever cool great why are you involving my wife
