Bros & Shows - Tamra and Gretchen Face Off at Self Defense Class (RHOC Full Recap)

Episode Date: September 30, 2025

What's up Bros? We've had a couple weeks of decent RHOC. This week starts out with some family stuff as we see Tamra and Sofia check out LAMI. Jenn asks Evangeline to stand with her for her nuptials w...ith Ryan. Both of these scenes were genuinely sweet and we enjoyed them, but it did beg the question.. this late in the season, is this all we got? The ladies head to self defense class and the 98 degrees rumor comes up again in regard to Tamra. She catches wind and decides to confront Gretchen who is 100% back pedaling from her part in this rumor. We are looking forward to the reunion, and if the season can coast at this pace for the remainder, we're cool. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

New episodes every Wednesday, wherever you get your podcasts. good oh wait that's too early for that uh look i've had a long day i'm excited to talk about a not
Starting point is 00:01:08 so terrible episode of rossi we were talking before we recorded they've done something this season that's kind of remarkable they've set the bar so very low that an episode like this which was ho-hum wasn't terrible jumps very high on the leaderboard i still cringe when you use the word excited and o c in the same sentence uh-huh i just can't do it it's a natural reaction There's nothing I can go. Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of Bros and Shows. I am your co-host.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Steel Russell, joined as always by the one and only Victory Monday Goots. What's up, dude? Not a whole lot. Good timing on rearranging the studio. You like that? Because we're very tired. Stevie boys. Very, very exhausted.
Starting point is 00:02:04 What a hell of a Monday. It's been a rough Monday. And here comes O.C. to make it better. That was my thing. I was like, of course, today of all days, don't say Pesto around me right now. I had a battle with Pesto today. And I don't want to get into it. But let's just say, I'm actually looking forward to this because most of the time when we do the podcast, when I've had a shitty day.
Starting point is 00:02:29 I tend to feel better afterwards. It's therapeutic to some degree. If you're watching on YouTube, you'll notice that the studio is a little rearranged. I decided that it was time to switch up the feng shui of the room, if you will. So feng shui, feng shui? I think it's spelled feng shui. It's spelled feng shui. I feel like people pronounce it differently that want to sound more artsy.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Yeah, that's going to happen pretty much all the time with any foreign word or phrase. but I think there's also a contingency of people that tend to read things and realize that it's spelled a different way and then they start saying it that way. Okay, that's fair. Yeah, well, anyway, we rearrange the studio. If you don't watch on YouTube, go over and check out the new studio, bro, because it looks pretty nice.
Starting point is 00:03:14 You've got our legs kicks up. I know, we're cozy, which, like Shooter said, is good because we're seep, seepy, boys. It's going to be nice when the fire's on in the winter, too. We're getting so close. I know. I love fire sessions in here. We, again, if you're not watching on YouTube,
Starting point is 00:03:27 then you're missing out. I have a wood fire stove in the studio. And during the winter, we cranked that bad boy up because the installation in my back room is so terrible. It gets like 50 degrees. And then it gets really hot in here. And if we're already tired, we get even sleepier. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:39 So anyway, enough sleepy talk because we're not tired. We're excited to talk about a show that, you know, it is what it is. We've grown to learn how to talk about it. You did it again. Excited an OC in the same sentence. I know. But you know what? Let's just dive into this week.
Starting point is 00:03:53 I've also been racking my brain on how to use the P word. that's going to irritate you, but there's just no way to slip that into a sentence. Pesto? Don't say it. Well, now you've got my brain work at how to slip. The only thing I could come up with, I had a partial,
Starting point is 00:04:10 it was more of like a wizarding spell, like a Harry Potter spell. And there was Pesto in it, but I... Expesto Petroleum. Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to do. But then I realized there's no way I can slip that in anywhere. So be on the lookout. I will...
Starting point is 00:04:25 Where's Waldo of Pesto? I'll pay attention. Anyway, why don't we just jump into this episode? Because we start out. It's post-Temecula, obviously, post-sleepover. The current drama is still that Gretchen decided to bring up the fact that Tamara allegedly banged 98 degrees guy. And I love that this entire episode is her trying to spin it, that she had no involvement in it. I love that they put the cutscene in later.
Starting point is 00:04:49 I wish they had put this cut scene in throughout the episode every time she tried to deny it. Because the sentence was, and she banged. banged, beep, you said that. She said that. Correct. Slade didn't even say that. No. Slade corroborated and then went on FaceTime, obviously, and had his housewives moment. But it just got we're weirder and weirder.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Like, we go to the scene where it's the two of them talking and she's blaming him for bringing it up. She's mad at him. You brought it up. He's in the dog house. I mean, yeah, I don't know. He probably lives in the fucking dog house. Technically, he's homeless, I guess, if you want to go into that. At least he's not toothless.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Yeah, I don't think he's paying rent as we. He's not paying for. anything he's contributing grifting off of gretcher's he's he's god dude he's gretcher's grifter we are really back to the point of oc where i'm not really getting annoyed or pissed off about any of the storylines or things that are going on obviously katy's been m i a for three episodes i should have an episode count but i believe it's three full episodes that we haven't seen katie uh i'm back to nitpicking things that annoy me and the gretcher's has got to stop it is it on we got to question last week. Is it starting to get close to the Carl and Lindsay Babe? Well past it.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Wow. Last week I was closer and I think I still gave the edge to Babe. You gave the edge to babe. This week she said it four more times. I counted. Why? For what reason? I think that she likes having a friend with a nickname. I know people. Shit nickname. It's so stupid. I agree. But we all have that one person in our lives or somebody you know that is not part of the crew, but uses nicknames to early on, and you're like, okay, you know, it just hits you wrong. It's like, if somebody just met you and they just started calling a shooter out of the gate would rub me the wrong way. It would be like, I've had this a lot where somebody will start referring to me as shoots.
Starting point is 00:06:41 No, no, no, no. Shooter is okay because that is. Shoots, what do you think? Fuck you. Yeah, that's what I think. I want to tell them fuck you because it's like, you don't, you have to earn that, right? You have to earn the right to call you shoots. But anyway.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I don't think anybody can earn that anymore. I think I've closed the door on that one. If I meet a new person, they start calling me that, no. I told you one of my biggest accomplishments in life is that a far greater amount of people in the world know you as shooter rather than your birth name. Yeah. I love that. Fantastic. Let's start out with Jen and Ryan.
Starting point is 00:07:10 They're doing some wedding talk. I'm over this too. Oh, I don't care. Get to the fucking wedding. Agreed, but I will say the more and more I've seen of Ryan this season and his handling of things. And it could be for the screen, I'm not going to chalk it up to. he seems like a good dude. It could be him understanding the assignment.
Starting point is 00:07:29 I haven't seen anything that I'm like, oh, fuck this guy. No, he hasn't done anything. He's really rehabbed his image since the whole show Hey, Otani thing last year. Yeah, maybe that's what it is. He is definitely on his best behavior. I'm not going to take away from that. But he does seem, he really hasn't been in the show a ton either. He is simply a husband.
Starting point is 00:07:49 We saw Eddie for the first time in the entire season today as well. but Ryan, when he's on screen, seems genuine. Like, he's not doing the thing where he's just overly nice and talking about sex. Like, he's kind of come into his own where he can have a scene like this, where he can sit here, decompress with Jen, hear about the whole trip, not really jump down her throat as soon as she mentions Tamara, but still have a comment about, well, you know, he can't really trust her. Like, why would you want to trust her?
Starting point is 00:08:16 Which is very true. But then also not continue and carry on and just have, like, a hate train towards Tamara, which he would be within his right to do it because Jen's kind of there, but he doesn't do it. So it is kind of weird. It seems genuine. It's nice to watch, honestly. And then it leads to better conversations between the two of them because Jen's able to recap the trip. Now talking about Shannon and Tamara, the silence was deafening on the ride home.
Starting point is 00:08:40 And Ryan, with a very astute observation, well, you've got to give her props for setting boundaries. I'm like, thank you. Yeah. That's lost on this entire group. It really is. They just expect Shannon to immediately forgive Tamara, just go. right back to everything, which is how she got hurt in the first place, and the second place,
Starting point is 00:08:55 and the third place, and the fourth place. I like his description of Shannon, too. He's like, I'm sorry, that was Eddie's description later. Eddie's description of Tamara was actually, or Shannon was spot on. It was. It was really spot on, but you can tell that everybody kind of has this, why are we just forgiving Tamara
Starting point is 00:09:11 right away? Like, no, somebody has to say it. If it's fucking Ryan saying it, then sure. Like, at least somebody's pointing out the obvious. She's setting boundaries. Of course she doesn't want to just jump right in. She's going to eventually. We all know it's going to happen. It's only a matter of time. But at least right now, we're seeing her make the progress. Okay, I'm going to let her in a little bit of the time. Nope, you're back out. You said something about my dad being an alcoholic.
Starting point is 00:09:34 We're done. I'm not going to talk to you for the rest of the weekends. Fair. Great. Yeah. That's what should happen. Let's get to Tamara and Eddie. Eddie's first seen this season. Eddie's face irritates me. It does. I don't know what it is. There's something about it, right? It's like, change your face. I don't know what it is. I want to be mean. I'm not being he's not like an unattractive dude i'm not saying that his face is unattractive um he kind of looks like the like an ugly bulldog wow um i don't want to be mean he kind of looks like yeah no i i don't want to be mean for like just the sake of being mean but i don't really like eddie so i don't care i don't care for eddie um but yeah no he does kind of look like
Starting point is 00:10:11 like an ugly bulldog with human eyes wow that's really mean yeah yeah so from going to i don't want to be mean like when dogs have human eyes it's like all right that kind of freaks me Louis's got humanized. It scares me to death. He scares the hell out of it. Right? But great boy. He's the man.
Starting point is 00:10:26 There's nothing he can do about it. No, Louie, you can fix your face. You're in Orange County. Like, everybody fixes their face there. Go fix it. Oh, man. Poor Eddie. Or I guess.
Starting point is 00:10:36 I don't know. I don't care. I don't like Eddie. Yeah, I don't either. They're taking Sophia or Tamara's taking Sophia to the Music Institute. So she's about to be an empty nester, which, you know, it's hard to get a read on how she actually feels about this whole thing. I do think that her and Sophia, those scenes are nice to a certain extent.
Starting point is 00:10:53 This one, I'll talk about it when we get there. Another thing, and I'm not being mean. Oh, boy. I did get a chuckle out of Tamara going to her confessional saying, it's my last one, my last child is leaving. My last one? She said this is my last one leaving the house. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Becoming an emphaster. Right. Why did the other ones leave? Oh, got it. Yeah, okay. Again, not being mean. I'm not being mean. But I did get a chuckle out.
Starting point is 00:11:18 of it that's just pointing out a truth that's not mean correct not being mean stating facts but she's recapping to mecula and she's talking about shannon and of course her recap of the entire thing is a totally different perspective that didn't really happen you know shannon's just fucking miserable and the dad drinking topic came up and i was just trying to say you're talking about it so like let's dive into this eddie with no actual understanding of what that conversation was, is like, well, until someone's ready to help themselves, tell that to Tamara. Shannon is helping herself. Shannon's actually setting boundaries.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Shannon is taking, that's the biggest credit I can give to Shannon. She seems to be taking what she's learning in therapy and applying it in real life. She's trying. Tamara has yet to do that. Yeah. She's getting props for it from Gina and Emily and Heather because they're terrified of her. They want to talk shit behind her back. They want to snuggle up on a sleepover and talk shit.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Push comes to shove and they falter. immediately. That was disgusting this episode. I was so irritated by that whole thing, but whatever. We'll get there. Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly will get there. Can't hold us to it. Yeah, you can't make me. But that's so annoying. And also, Eddie, Tamara, Shannon's dad's none of your fucking business. It's none of your business. And also, obviously, it goes without saying that conversation did not go the way the Tamara just presented it. No. Nobody brought up his drinking. brought up his drinking.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Yeah, she brought up a tumultuous childhood. Oh, by the way, he had a drinking problem, didn't he? Why, because of the booze? That's not how that happened at all. But also, I do love that Eddie has that phrase, which, yeah, if you're talking to someone who is maybe a people pleaser, somebody who just really wants the best for someone and has shown that, yeah, sure, that phrase is applicable. Not to Tamara.
Starting point is 00:13:11 No. When have we ever seen Tamara actually help somebody out? No, it's always with some kind of agenda or she's got a plan and that's what Shannon says and they shove a confessional in here when Shannon's not part of the scene which I love and Shannon's like I don't buy it. I didn't buy what she was doing. So I stopped it. Like good for you Shannon hold your ground. Hold the line as Slate says. We have to protect her at all cost. That's good. Gretchen comes up in conversation and she's saying oh she attacked us for 12 years the second that Gretchen's name pops up. Eddie's like,
Starting point is 00:13:45 What? And he didn't know that Gretchen was even here. That's how checked out he is on Tamara and her whole reality TV life. He was shocked. This is 14 episodes in, and he had no idea that this was happening. It was 13. I really want to do it, but, yeah, I know. Do you know how hard it's going to hit when they finally say, and on the season finale next week?
Starting point is 00:14:09 Oh, it's going to be like crack. Oh, man, I'm still, I'm waiting for it. I really want them to cut this season short. You should take a live video of that and post it to our story. I'll have, like, confetti and balloons dropping. Although we still will have three episodes left. Yeah, but that's different. The reunion is a different season at this point.
Starting point is 00:14:26 It's also gearing up to be pretty good. Of course, we're going to get let down by the whole thing. No chance. That's good. Let's get to Gretchen and Slade. We get a little juxtapose scene here, and she brings up the Tamara song thing, which was brought up in the car. She puts all of the on Slade himself.
Starting point is 00:14:44 saying you started this fire like I called you to talk about the song you didn't have to bring that up blah blah blah again you brought it up Slade corroborated the whole thing but I've come to learn that this is what Gretchen does she wants to act
Starting point is 00:14:59 a certain way whether it's it changes it's either she wants to act tough she wants to act indifferent she wants to act sweet she wants to act nice she wants to act duplicitous if you will when she gets caught in a lie she scrambles. And even in this moment, you can tell she's trying her best to pad her story by getting
Starting point is 00:15:19 Slate. They probably talked about it beforehand where she's like, listen, I'm going to put this on you. I just need you to take it. Don't mention the fact that I brought it up, please. Clearly forgetting that these scenes were filmed and we can go back and see that you're the one that brought it up. So that's not going to do any good when it comes reunion time, when everybody else gets
Starting point is 00:15:36 to watch the episodes in which you did those things. She's really bad at scrambling. Yeah, I know. She is so bad. Like, we've seen some masterclasses from housewives when they get caught lying. They have some sort of backup, some sort of excuse, or they can deflect better than anybody else. Gretchen can't do any of that. No.
Starting point is 00:15:53 She is really bad at this. Just go back to her talking about going to the hospital after naked wasted. Correct. You told multiple people on camera that you did go to the hospital. And then your excuse is, well, I did say that I should have gone or I felt like I should have. It's like, no, you didn't. The polygraph said I didn't lie. You're just substituting a lion that we can easily look and say, no, that's not what you said.

Starting point is 00:17:15 podcasts. Yes, even there. Are you looking for a movie review show where the critic is at the top of his or her game, meticulously breaking down and explaining exactly why a film does or does not work? Well, good luck with the search. Because we're having fun here on Adam does movies. Each and every week, I hit the big blockbusters, I cover the streamers, and I even toss in some movie news for fun. Check out the show on Spotify, on Apple Podcasts, on YouTube. And hopefully, we can do movies together. Hot. And amidst this scene, Emily comes up and the topic of Emily,
Starting point is 00:17:51 and this is the most interesting part of this episode for me was the fact that Emily and Heather both, once they, Gretchen started it, sure. She let slip that there was a possible affair with this Timmons' 98 degrees character, which I confirmed later, by the way, because I knew what name I was looking. looking for and they bleep Tamara's mouth, but you can see the jaw moving. Jeff Pimmons. I believe it's Jeff, but confirmation there that it is 98 degrees guy, allegedly. And she brings up the Emily of it.
Starting point is 00:18:20 And there's a scene that was not shown last week where Emily's saying, I'm not going to divulge personal information to Tamara because she's going to use it against me. I don't trust her, which is very important, especially when we get the scenes later. And any scene that you've seen this season, where Emily's talking face to face to Tamara, much different story than when she's behind closed doors. actually maddening to see that. Like, I was pissed off that I saw that scene. I know. Do that in a group setting. Do that to Tamara. Go to somebody who's now the victim of Tamara and say it. Like, do something, honestly. I'm so tired of Emily and Gina because they don't do anything.
Starting point is 00:18:53 This is an opportunity that just shows me you can do stuff. You can say things. She probably didn't even know that she was being filmed at that point. Like, you're afraid to do this in a group setting or in an actual crucial scene where you can help somebody out. It just doesn't make any sense to me and it just pisses me off even more with her. It's poor housewifery. Yeah. Not, not great, but let's get to Tamara and Sophia. They're going to check out the LA Music Institute, I believe. Lammy? Let me call it. They call it the lammy. They call it the lambie. They give out lamies. Yeah. What? What's a lammy? It's an award. Oh, actually, are you making it? I just made that up. What if they do? Pesto. Oh, fuck you. But Sophia obviously has some
Starting point is 00:19:33 aspirations to be in the music business, so she wants to go check it out. Tamara's kind of pushing her towards it. It seems to me like Tamara is trying to make her go experience either college or something college adjacent to go experience the world a little bit. These scenes are nice, okay? The guy touring them was a bit strange. You know, I don't want to shit on him. I don't know him.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Those art schools, there's always some weirdos. You know, he's just a little strange, probably a good dude. I don't know. But anyway, this scene's nice, but to me, it feels a little bit. And I know I'm nitpicking is what it is. it feels like she's playing it up even more to show like, hey, look how good of a mom I am to kind of sidestep the Sydney of it all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Maybe I don't, I hate to take time or side in this, but she does seem like she has a really good relationship. There's a genuine connection between these two. I'm not denying that. And honestly, her daughter in so many words says that she's a really good mom. Yes. So I'm not going to take away from it. I'm not trying to take away from that.
Starting point is 00:20:34 You're just trying to nitpick. I'm nitpicking for sure. I agree with you. Like, that's why I said it's a nice scene. I believe that their relationship's real. I think that Sophia loves her mom. I think that Tamara loves her daughter. I think because Tamara has done this so many times with, you know, trying to show this part of her life to counter the Sydney situation that we're used to it.
Starting point is 00:20:54 And now every time that something like this pops up, that could be genuine. We still have that thought in the back of our head. That's probably where it's coming from. But I didn't really get that from this at all. I think over the course of this season, we've kind of been proven. that they have a really good relationship. Okay. I'll leave it alone. I'll leave it alone.
Starting point is 00:21:09 I'm actually, weirdly, taking a nice scene in OC as a nice scene. Okay. I'll try better. I'll try better. I'll do better, coach. Jen and Everly are going to the spot to get facials. Everly is Jen's teenage daughter, and this was a nice scene as well. Jen's like, look, I need my best friend up there with me. I'd love for you to stand next to me up there.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Everly gets emotion. Like, this was a cool scene, I thought. that showed how crazily, emotionally intelligent her daughter is. Sure. Because she cries and is able to explain, like, yeah, it's just weird that you're getting married again, period. I still have a good relationship with my dad. She goes to a confessional, super composed, very articulate, like, walks us through the whole thing, happy for mom, but kind of a weird situation.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Kind of a weird situation. I have another thing floating around to my head when we got back-to-back scenes of family. I texted you during this because I was like, what the fuck is this, Rosey Jr., but then they turned out to be nice scenes. They were very nice scenes, and I'm not going to take away from any of that, but I did look at this from like a producer standpoint. I think they're just throwing shit at the wall at this point. I don't think they have anything.
Starting point is 00:22:17 I think they have nothing. I think Katie's gone. They're just trying to bide some time until they get to Amsterdam. They know what's going to happen. You've got Gretchen and Tamara towards the end of this episode. This was just, fuck, we've got nothing. Hey, do you guys want to have your daughters in confessionals? it'll be really cool.
Starting point is 00:22:33 We'll have scenes where you guys go out and showcase how good of a mom you are. Tamara jumps up immediately, of course. Jen jumps up. She's like, yeah, I could do it because Tamara wants to do it because I wouldn't be like Tamara. Makes sense to me.
Starting point is 00:22:43 That's where I'm getting this, where it goes back to back. I'm like, you guys have nothing. That's what I thought, too. We have nothing to discuss, so we're going to go check out what the kids are doing. And again, as far as kids' scenes go,
Starting point is 00:22:55 they were. They were, they were good, nice scenes that could make you emotional if you actually cared about these people. That's a good way to put it. But again, like, looking at the over-arcing storyline and story arc of this season, it's like, how are we here now at episode 13? We should be really getting into it pretty deep with Katie versus the group
Starting point is 00:23:15 and Tamara coming over or whatever it may have been. And instead, because Katie's not there, and the only thing we have to talk about is Gretchen divulging that Tamara recorded a song and potentially boinked some 98-degree guy. We got nothing there. Nope. Nothing to fill the blanks. Yeah, that's funny. That's exactly what I thought, too.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Anyway, Gretchen schedules a self-defense class and shows up as, as she calls her, Lara Kraft, from Tomb Raider, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. And with the gun holster and everything, which I didn't notice to later, which is ironic. I didn't really plan on doing a costume today, but it just kind of worked out that you didn't. You planned on it. Do you wear your gun holster often? Yeah. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:23:56 Do you go to your barber? Barber. She absolutely. By the way, I'm sure she has like a pink block too. Oh, for sure, like a little 22 in her purse that's pink That she doesn't apparently know how to shoot During this scene, I got a little scared Because if any of those women are carrying
Starting point is 00:24:12 And they do that little fake scene Where the guy comes up to the car, I got a little scared That, oh, that's a good point I do think that maybe they had to give them the heads up Like, hey, we're gonna- I don't think so those reactions seem genuine The driver knew Driver knew so she didn't run over anybody
Starting point is 00:24:28 Yeah This was my favorite part of the episode It was funny to watch them scared. And I love to see how they react. Gina and Tamara, not good. Tamara throws Gina at the guy. Pretty much. Shannon?
Starting point is 00:24:42 Shannon was pretty cool. According to her, she shut down. She froze, but she was okay. She was functioning freezing. I thought she did fine. I think she did fine. Yeah. She was like pretty crazily mellow during that whole thing.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I was shocked. I thought she was going to panic and run out of the car. She didn't. She held her own. Jen just kind of stayed silent. But anyway, let's get to tactical training. Group A is going to self-defense and group B is going to the gun range, which I was thrilled when they said these are not real bullets.
Starting point is 00:25:13 That made me nervous, especially when you're watching Gretchen, anyone that's hunted or anything, you know you never like wave a gun around. You keep it pointed at the ground, point it up, never. When Gretchen went to shoot the target, she's like, I don't know how to do this. So she's waving a firearm all about everybody's face. But anyway, at the gun range, Emily was terrible. Tamara, Tamara's shot guns before quite clearly. And Jen was whatever and Gretchen was whatever.
Starting point is 00:25:42 The self-defense class was pretty funny, actually, watching them try to, I don't know what they were teaching them. They were really just showing them how to cover up. Cover and then. But the rush with the elbows was interesting. That was where they kind of lost me on that. I don't think that would work. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:57 I will say when Gina's standing there being like, what are we going to do? Self-defense classes are important. I think everyone should take a self-defense class to give yourself a chance. That's guy or girl, it doesn't matter. You should know how to defend yourself
Starting point is 00:26:09 in these situations. So I didn't love Gina downplaying. Like, what are we going to do? It's like, at least you have a shot now. She's like, I'm dead. Which is kind of funny. It is kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:26:17 At the same time. But yeah. Like, at least know what to do so you can try to get out of there. Yeah. As far as these little one-off scenes go, this is by far the best one of the season. This is the only one,
Starting point is 00:26:28 the only one in 13 weeks, three months of this show that I have been like, oh, I like this. This has nothing to do with the story, but I actually enjoy watching this scene. The majority of this episode had nothing to do with any story. Correct. So that's kind of just where we are in the progression of an O.C. season. But I agree with you. I think it also helps maybe, and we do talk about those one-off family scenes and, you know, how they're, they tend to hit when it's a really good season because it gives you a little bit of a break in the action. and we're at a really weird place with O.C. right now
Starting point is 00:27:00 where we both came away from those scenes thinking they were really nice. And then we got this. And it's like, okay, this is cool. I do think if the rest of the episode didn't have that, you just nix those two scenes, throw in some random shit where Emily's just barking at chain or something. We get to this. I'm not happy.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I think you're right. I think because we had those two scenes that made us a little happier, we get to this. Yeah, sure, this is fine. Yeah, I think that's a good way to put it. Let's get to post-training. and we're recapping Temecula in our respective groups and the Tamara dad comment comes up.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Gina, of course, who was there? Yeah. And I don't know how you would take this away from that scene when you were there, but she's under the guys that, oh, she was being genuine. She was trying to check on you by bringing up your alcoholic father.
Starting point is 00:27:47 As Emily says, finally, she says something right to Tamara, you're not really in a spot to be saying that to Shannon, which is the, underlying issue of it all. Wasn't Gina the one who was cleaning up the mess afterwards? Trying to.
Starting point is 00:27:59 He was trying to explain to Tamara, like, no, you can't just jump into that. Now you're making excuses for her. You're saying she was being supportive. All that tells me is you walked away from Temecula and felt bad and you were scared that Tamara wasn't going to, like, dump you as a friend. Yeah. Because of the way that you talk to her. And now you're coming back and trying to get back into her good graces and saying
Starting point is 00:28:18 that she meant well. It just, you contradict yourself within a couple of days. It's crazy. And she's playing the semantics game because Shannon's like, Oh, when she said, we know your dad was an alcoholic, she's like, that's not what she said, pretty much what she said. Not verbatim, but that's what she said. But anybody with eyes have watched that episode knows exactly what Tamara was trying to do.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Exactly. And that's why what you should be doing, Gina. Hey, good for you, Shannon, for setting boundaries. Good for you for not caving. Good for you because I'm talking shit about Tamara and being untrustworthy behind her back. But now that she's here, I'm going to say that you're wrong because she's scarier than you. yeah sick all right it's just tough when a self-proclaimed douchebag in ryan is the one who can say that and be very serious about it and it makes a ton of sense and the women who are
Starting point is 00:29:06 with shannon all the time albeit probably a little tired of her act fine you guys can't see that you guys can't say that at least change it up like that's the only problem with this you guys do the same shit every season you guys do the same thing when it comes to tamra whoever she's in a fight with you always make excuses for you might say something wrong which is actually true in the moment, but then you take it back immediately. You guys do it every year. Try something else. See how it goes.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Could be fun. Stand on business. Yeah. At least it might be a little different for us and maybe it'll last an episode where you and I can sit here and say, well, that was actually kind of good because it was different. Then it can go back to normal afterwards and we just always have that. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Oh, dare to dream.
Starting point is 00:29:45 Dare to dream. But Tamara's song recording comes up and immediately. It's a good segue too. It was a good segue. I don't know why Gretchen was just. drinking more fireball I don't know stuck on it
Starting point is 00:29:58 fixated on fireball right now I feel like at least personally you know take this with a grain of salt but I would go on fireball why are you laughing
Starting point is 00:30:08 I would go on fireball kicks you don't go on fireball kicks no no no ah shit yeah no
Starting point is 00:30:16 look I just thought it was a little weird that she popped it out of her purse and she's like here we go no there was at the lunch she had it though there was champagne and fireball at the lunch
Starting point is 00:30:25 Either way, she still set it up. Yeah, so she still had them. She's going to fireball care. But really good segue. Oh, yeah, I hear what happens when you drink fireball. Boom, then. Well, that was a little bit later. This is when they're sitting there talking.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Oh, this is where Tamara gets there. Yeah, this is when Tamara finds out about the alleged affair. Right. And again, nitpicking, Ryan Stoneman's going to be mad at me, whatever. But when the Tamara's song recording comes up, the first thing that she says was, oh, yeah, that's right after Simon and I separated it. I was like, hmm. Yeah, no, she did that. That was definitely intentional.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Because you know, either you know about the affair rumor? But she made the sandwich. She said it was right after Simon and I separated before Eddie and I started dating. No, she did say right when Eddie and I started dating. Right around. Right around. She uses semantics. She does that, though.
Starting point is 00:31:09 She uses different prepositional phrases. It was smart, but to the trained eye that looks for Tamara's bullshit, we know what you're doing. You're establishing a timeline. Exactly. As soon as she said that, I was like, oh, you point him. Yeah, there's overlap. You got 98-degree. Again, I don't give a fuck about.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Could care less. So long ago, I don't care that now we're talking about this. It's not like you bringing up naked wasted, which happened 12 years ago, that we're kind of getting a little bit closer to getting answers, but we're never actually going to get there. This is just such a one-off. I don't care. You could have buoyed the entire 98-degree cast. Would not care.
Starting point is 00:31:46 The whole group. I don't care what you did. Kind of cool, kind of funny. If it overlapped with a little Eddie, overlapped with a little bit. overlapped with a little bit of finally divorcing with Simon, I don't give a shit. I don't care. It's not that big of a deal.
Starting point is 00:31:57 I would actually like it if she leaned into it. I was like, yeah, I did. I'd be like, fuck yeah. That's funny. That would have rocked. Yeah, if you bang someone from 98 degrees, like that, wear that with a funny badge of honor. It's great.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Yeah, whatever. What was frustrating was watching Emily go through this whole thing saying, you know, the hypocrisy of calling Gretchen hypocritical for, and she's right, like Gretchen does do this. she's doing all the things that Tamara's doing she just goes about it a little bit different it's a little less in your face but she's doing the same shit agreed
Starting point is 00:32:29 but the way that you're setting it up is like Heather and I had no idea what was going on she just kept talking it's like you guys were poking her all night yes she started it she said the banging comment she regretted it as soon as she said it too she did but then we could not get that back in the box but Heather and Emily got their
Starting point is 00:32:45 hooks in her at that point they're like oh we need more we need more I do think Heather came from uh once the the audio was brought up talking about how yeah it was a little bit of the song and then honestly they were still being recorded and like flirting and like allegedly had sex with the audio still on which is hilarious it's really funny it's very funny but as soon as that popped up heather's like i don't i don't want to hear that i don't really and that's look that's not even just heather being like a tamer pleaser i think that's genuinely who heather is she's like ah she doesn't want to hear about blinking or rumors probably yeah she's she's completely
Starting point is 00:33:19 out on that, but Emily absolutely did. Emily kept bringing it up. We got back to Heather's penhouse, and Emily brought it up again. And then that's why we called Slade. Starting point is 00:34:06 After a brief snack nap. We're coming back. We're picking snacks. We're eating snacks. We're raiding snacks. Like the snackologist we were born to be. Mates is back. Mike and Tom, eat.
Starting point is 00:34:18 snacks. Wherever you get your podcast. Unless you get them from a snack machine, in which case, call us. There are vampires out there. They're beside you in the darkness, but what people don't understand is that they're not monsters. They're just going to work, living there on lives. But we are a dying breed. From the creators of Parkdale Haunt comes Whitbine, a podcast about monsters, dreams, and changes, those you want, and those you never saw coming. Season 2 arrives September 24th, distributed by Realm.
Starting point is 00:34:58 I do have a question, though, based on all of this, based on Gina's reaction to Shannon here, based on Emily, based on Heather, based on all of them. Why must we repair all relationships with Tamara? Why is this the driving force this season? We must make sure Tamara is okay with everybody else in the group, Emily, Gina, Heather. Why? She's going through a lot right now. So is everybody on the cast.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Oh, my God, don't even. I don't understand why this is such a big, important thing to make sure that Tamara's cool with everything. Yeah, I don't really know either. Like, it would be one thing to just leave it alone and move on and allow Tamara to repair relationships if she wants to. Once she kind of sets her sights on, I got a repair, or it looks like. like she's going to repair with Shannon. Everybody comes to her aid. And then they start to make Shannon look crazy, which causes a Shannon breakdown,
Starting point is 00:35:53 which nobody really wants to watch. It happens with everybody. Yeah. And I don't understand that, one, Tamara is an adult. She can do this herself. She doesn't need your help. And you guys going behind backs to try to talk about it a little bit further. It doesn't do anything.
Starting point is 00:36:06 And it makes you guys look like minions. They are minions. You're losers. Yeah. That's quite clear. That's what I've gotten from this season. Yeah. Because you guys want to bark, bark, bark behind closed doors.
Starting point is 00:36:16 But the minute Tamara walks in, you cower in the corner and agree with her. And look, the only thing that came, especially from this episode, was Emily talking about how she's not going to divulge information in Tamara. We'll talk about it for a very quick second at the reunion, if at all, and nothing will come with it. Oh, no. Zero. Absolutely nothing, because she does enough in front of Tamara for Tamara. She's on my team. So there's no story there. And Tamara, although.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Yeah, the Emily Katie thing. Yeah, that could change. is fully on Katie's team. That definitely could change. And this could actually help that. Well, but that's a layup. All you have to do to start that conversation is bring up the fact that Emily brought up all that custody shit last reunion. And we have not talked about it.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Yep. Set it up and then boom, you can take this whole season. Tamara's a very good housewife. So she should be able to do that. I think she will. Yeah, I hope so. That's a layup. They do a competition thing.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Tamara's a good shot. Shannon was not as bad as I thought she would be, honestly. Gretchen brandishes her weapon all about the room. Don't do that. And then Fish is for compliments, as she says, at least I look cute, twice, two times, not once, but twice. So that's what she got out of that competition. At least she looks cute.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Let's get to lunch where Tamara wastes no time and calling out Gretchen. And if you hear some joyful screaming in the background, my daughter is having a good time, which is nice because she's been teething and kind of cranky. Yeah, at least it's joyful. Anyway, there she was. Tamara calls out Gretchen immediately. And Emily immediately throws her under the
Starting point is 00:37:41 bus. And Gretchen does what she's done all season. Get super timid. Even her voice changes, the tone of her voice changes, the volume changes. She's like, I don't know. Like, what are you talking about? This was, it was such a weird argument because you and I see it the same way. Gretchen gets timid. Gretchen kind of shuts down. She's looking around. She's like, I don't want to do this. I didn't do it. It was slayed. And obviously, Tamara jumps on that right away. Of course, it was Slade, but Tamara started getting aggravated and Heather, and Gretchen stayed the same level. Yeah. So it actually had a pretty good effect on, if you look at it, Tamara freaked out and ran out.
Starting point is 00:38:22 She didn't, that wasn't a great Tamara moment. It wasn't, but like, if it's that easy and you didn't really even mean to do that, you were actually just cowering in fear. That's a good point. We saw that last week when we were watching Salt Lake. Bromwin stood her ground against Lisa Barlow. Lisa Barlow freaked out, but Bromwin stood her ground. in a very good and confident way.
Starting point is 00:38:40 That was good. And it had a very good effect on it. You were cowering and somehow it had a positive effect to you. Yeah. I don't understand it at all. I'll take it. Yeah, I guess. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:50 I just expected Tamara to just like have Gretchen in a body bag. Well, I think Tamara was expecting to go back and forth about the 98 degrees thing. Yeah. But Gretchen took a left turn and was like, well, with all the shit I've heard about you over the years, you're lucky I kept my mouth shut. nothing screams innocent like standing up and going what the fuck have you heard about me what did you hear bitch maybe mellow down a little bit she's changing though she is changing she's going to therapy psychotherapy she's bettering herself yet to see it uh-huh looking forward to it although this is the first like full no new orleans was the full family this is the second freak out but it's only
Starting point is 00:39:27 the second 13 episodes in we usually get a couple more growth growth i suppose i'll give her that sure Gretchen replies with, well, you're being sued for trying to use someone to fuck with me. I sued them. I had like six lawsuits, whatever. I got awarded $400,000. That was all based on Tamara trying to go after her with this dude. But that seems to be true because Tamara's response was, oh, the guy you were fucking. It's like, okay, so what you just did was confirmed that Gretchen was right.
Starting point is 00:39:58 You tried to throw a shot in there about her boinking the guy. but all I'm hearing is, oh, that's true. Yeah. And then you leave. Yeah, that's pretty much what I got from that, too. Very confusing. Yeah, so that's not great defense. Really bad Tamara movement.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Yeah, which is interesting. Usually she moves a lot. She's always going to be loud, but there's always some sort of, like, agenda. This one, I mean, she had a little bit of prep time, which is usually all she needs before she walked in there, which she already heard that this happened. Then she walks in and she just seemed under. prepared. Do you think that's therapy? Maybe it is. Maybe
Starting point is 00:40:36 therapy has her fucked up. Maybe she's trying to stay calm and now she can't, like, she can't hone in on her, what she wants to talk about. Yeah. So now she's got the blowups, but instead of actually having the good dialogue that comes with the blowups, she's just got nothing. She's struggling with her inner monologue so it comes out. Therapy's
Starting point is 00:40:52 breaking her. Yeah, maybe it's not growth. Crumbling. Oh, boy. Well, uh, that's it. All in all, like I As far as this season goes, it was fine. Yeah, I enjoyed the second half and, like, the first couple of scenes were cute, but let's get to some questions. I feel like this happens all the time. I used a picture of Gretchen in her Lara Croft gear,
Starting point is 00:41:15 and then people just kind of comment on that video on the picture. That's too funny. Yeah, what the fuck is she wearing? She's Laura Craft. She's Lara Craft. From Kay Canny, 2012. Can we all agree that Emily calling Gretchen Gretcher's is flipping annoying. Yeah, it sucks
Starting point is 00:41:34 Yeah, absolutely So hard Oh boy Oh man Ryan Stoneman Oh no This is tough Look we've been on Tamas team
Starting point is 00:41:46 For a little while Don't get carried away You want to yeah Let me just read this Did anyone else get goosebumps from Tamas What do you know about me bitch? No No
Starting point is 00:41:57 I thought it was funny I thought it was kind of funny But she was losing control and she didn't have to. And she ran out of the room. Yeah, I didn't get goosebumps. Saying this has been 12 years of this, which Gretchen could say the same fucking thing.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Yeah. Like, here's the thing, dude. You have to see both sides. We try our best to see both sides. We've given Tamara so much credit this season, way more than we ever have in the past. We've acknowledged her great housewifing. We've acknowledged she'd made some good moves this season.
Starting point is 00:42:27 We acknowledge that she's without her. There is no show. but you have got to be able to see that her and Gretchen are doing the same shit to each other so no, I didn't get goosebumps I kind of laughed and said, oh, she lost this one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Gosh. I love how tenacious Ryan is. He really is. He's unrelenting. I commend them, honestly. Ooh, this is kind of interesting. From Jamie Gibbs, it's slayed a better housewife than Gretchen.
Starting point is 00:42:57 No. No. Because he's not supposed to be doing that. Yeah. He's annoying, and he's a... It was, if it was a role reversal, I think he would actually be worse than Gretchen, if that's possible. I think that if he was actually...
Starting point is 00:43:09 That's exactly it. He would be trying to do way too much, and he would get annoying. He's already annoying, and he's barely on the show. You know what pisses me off about him? The second he gets on camera, you can tell, he's like, here we go, locked in. Gonna give him my all. This is my job. Ugh.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Honestly, it is. It is. Shit else. From Claire Archibald. How was Emily getting a pass? all season for being so two-faced. It's infuriating to watch. She always gets a pass, and it's not even really a pass.
Starting point is 00:43:37 I just don't think that she's like, one, she's not interesting enough, and two, she's not really that crucial to the cast. They don't really give a shit what Emily does. This is our issue with the show. Yeah, and look at what she did the reunion last year with Katie. Brutal. And yet nobody brings it up.
Starting point is 00:43:52 And we're still holding out a sliver of hope that somebody's going to bring up this reunion. I doubt it. Yeah, at least Gina tries. I'll give Gina that. She does try. Emily, Emily's lost. Here comes another one star. You guys are so mean. I know, right.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Watch the show. Like, you see it. Yeah. From Jennifer M2M, why is Gretchen forcing me to side with a monster that is Tamara? She and Slade are sloppy. We've been here for a couple of weeks now.
Starting point is 00:44:20 It's tough. It's actually not even really just Gretchen that's making me side with Tamara. No, there's a lot going on. You know, when it comes to Tamara and Shannon, I'm team Shannon. When comes Tamara and the rest of, rest of the group. It's hard not to be team Tamara.
Starting point is 00:44:32 One, she's the only one doing her job effectively, and two, Gretchen's the same fucking person, and yet we're still, I don't know. It's all sucks. It sucks. Nassie, you're making me mad now. Yeah, right? These questions. Guys?
Starting point is 00:44:46 Well, I mean, to kind of echo that, from Sabrina Fukumoto, Fukamoto, that's a cool name. It's a really cool name. Why are we still here? Worse season ever, but I love you guys. It's not the worst season ever. No, it's not. go back two years ago.
Starting point is 00:45:01 That was the worst season never. But this is bad. This is surely bad. It's definitely bad. We love you too. Thank you. From Amy Rivadineira. I was scared the timer was going to swing.
Starting point is 00:45:15 I don't think she's going to get to that. I don't, I think she knows better. Unless she's really drunk, which she, you know. Like it was a little too close for comfort, especially considering we are at a self-defense facility. Yeah. I don't think she was going to swing.
Starting point is 00:45:29 I do think that any time. you get, like, that's problematic when you get close to making physical contact or someone has to grab your wrist to restrain you. Not a good move. We didn't even comment on that. But I don't, I'm not going to put that out in the universe that someone's going to take a swing unless they're actually swinging because that's, I think that's dangerous. Last one here from Souti Hawk.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Who is Gretchen Stylus? She should fire them. I think it's Slade. It's Laura Craft. It's Laura Craft. That's, yep. That's, that's who it is. But, uh, yeah, it seems like you guys are enjoying this season just as much as we are.
Starting point is 00:46:04 That's what gives me hope. That's what makes me happy through these, that our audience, our community, you guys get it. There's smart people out there. And we love that about you. We don't love you for making us watch this shit. No, but we have to. But for getting it, we love you for that. Yeah, yeah, we got to do it.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Somebody's got to do it. Why not us? You know? Unfortunately. Well, that's all I got. got anything else? Nope. Well, that's our show. New Studio Bros. Got to go.
