Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to Business Innovators Radio, featuring industry influencers and trendsetters, sharing proven strategies to help you build a better life right now. Hello and welcome to Business Innovators Radio. I have a very special guest with me today. This woman is so interesting, an incredible woman making all kinds of changes, all. over the world in many lives. Denise DiMijo, smell the audience, who you are and what you do. Hello, Luna. It's so wonderful to be here with you. For those that don't know, my name is Denise Damijo, and I am a shamanic integrative wellness coach. And what I do is I educate people on health and
Starting point is 00:01:01 wellness so that they can integrate mind-body practices and complementary medicines into their holistic journey. There are so many layers to you, Denise, isn't there? There's so much depth to what it is that you do. In your words, what makes you different to with us around their doing similar? Well, you know, with integrative wellness and holistic, you know, talking about the holistic self. I feel like what makes me different is because I'm integrating it also with shamanic practices.
Starting point is 00:01:43 So mind-body practices are kind of a little bit different than shamanic practices. So not only do I have mind-body practices, but I do want to integrate the shamanic practices and help people to be able to know that they are the healers. You know, of course, we definitely need to collaborate with other people and co-create with other people, such as health professionals and practitioners. But all in all, we are accountable for our healing journey, and we are the ones that advance it in whatever direction that we advance it in. Amazing. So just to take a little step back, what are the shamanic practices? Like, what does that mean?
Starting point is 00:02:38 My manor practices, and some of it can be kind of linked to mind-body practices, but shamanism has been around way longer for, you know, thousands of years. So, you know, I would say that shamanic practices were first and mind-body practices kind of. it picked up off those a little bit of shamanic practices. But really integrate shamanic practices into my own daily holistic wellness journey is that I love to use the elements. So a couple of the elements that I love to use is that I love to use water. Water, if I could be in water or close to water, it always makes. my day a little bit better. I get, you know, I start to calm down. If I am nervous, I start to relax. I get grounded really quickly with just being around water. Even like when I used to do sort of some of my
Starting point is 00:03:46 guided meditations, shamanic guided meditations, I would put like a bowl or a glass of water and it would be a clear glass or ball right there next to me as. I am doing my guided meditation and it will help calm me down because sometimes, you know, it could be a little bit nerve wrecking, you know, you know, you're meeting new people, you're doing this guided meditation and so that's what I did. Also, you know, I do a lot of meditation, but as I'm meditating, I like to do a lot of grounding work with it. So in my grounding work, I definitely maybe, sometimes I even go outside. and put my feet to the ground.
Starting point is 00:04:32 You know, I love to bring in like helpers such as my plant medicines. Jasmine is one of them. Rose is one of them. I love to bring those in in the mix that help and guide me through whatever journey I have. And when I'm doing meditations, the reason why I call them shamanic meditations is because every single time there's going to be some elements of the earth, whether it be wind, whether it be fire, whether it be, you know, water, earth, whatever the case may be. And then also some animals, you know, the animals come through, the spirit animals. So you may, I may have a stag coming through. Or I may, one meditation I had bunnies coming through, a dolphin, a shark, you know, these different.
Starting point is 00:05:27 kinds of animals that come through to, you know, help guide through the meditation. Another thing that happens when I incorporate shamanism is that, like, the Mother Oak comes through. Mother Oak is a very wise being, I guess you would say, you know, when she comes through. It's basically to give you wisdom. It's basically also for you to have the opportunity to lay your concerns, your burdens, or whatever the case may be down at her feet. You know, well, she doesn't have feet, but at her trunk, I guess you would say, and leave it there. You know, it's almost like you're giving an offering that no longer serves you, but she could utilize and transmute in order to serve you and serve others. And so, you know, mountains, there's a lot of
Starting point is 00:06:33 rock energy, just different kinds of energy I bring in and my shamanic practices. You literally just listed everything that I love. This is all so fascinating. What was your journey, Denise? What led you to this point? So my journey, I did. didn't want to be a shaman. I never even knew about shamanism. I think I heard it maybe once in a class. And it was a class where they were talking about different spiritual directions that a person, one could go. And I know that shamanism was listed into that. But it was just like in one ear right out the other. Several years later, I found myself having dreams saying and confirming that I was a shaman. And I'm like, no, I'm not. Even in the dreams, like, I was so resistant to this, you know, life.
Starting point is 00:07:30 I was like, no, I'm not. You know, there, you know, it was, it was really crazy dreams, like a person in a birdhead in a boat in the sky, floating in the sky and pointing the staff at me. Like, really weird dreams. And finally, I was, you know, walking through an airport. And it was around COVID time. and literally it was, you know, nobody in there for it was about almost midnight, if not midnight. And I was going to my hotel, you know, I was working. I did a lot of traveling for work.
Starting point is 00:08:06 And I was by myself. And then all of a sudden I'm hearing whistling and clapping and I'm like looking around and, you know, they're saying, shaman coming through and I'm looking around and I'm thinking, oh, my gosh, who? What is going on? And I said, okay, from that moment, I'm going to research what the heck a shaman is. What exactly is going on? Because this is absolutely insane. And so once I got an audible book and I spent, I said, okay, I'm going to listen to this.
Starting point is 00:08:41 You know, I was washing the dishes. I remember I was watching the dishes in my kitchen and looking out the window and, you know, because that's where my backyard is and everything else. And I'm just listening to this whole, like, you know, an audible book. And it's saying everything that I've been doing for my whole life. Like, everything who I was, I'm like, oh, my gosh, that's me. Oh, my gosh, that's how I, you know, it was just like an instant like,
Starting point is 00:09:10 aha, this is who I am moment. And, you know, something that I have been searching for on my life. Like, why am I so different? why do I have to go through all of these things, all of the different things, the answers that I needed. And within that moment, they were answered. And so I started the journey. It was a complete, you know, how like you have your body. And sometimes, you know, things come to your way, whether it be opportunities or situations. And you don't have that, you know, hell yes. Like, yes, you have resistance. There was none. There was like, it was a hell, yes. So I dived in and I have a look back. Oh, what a story. I love that.
Starting point is 00:09:56 I love that. You just listened to that you went for it. And now you're literally changing lives every single day. So tell us about the people you work with Denise. Who are they? And what kind of situations are they in? What exactly do you help them with? So because I have leaned towards integrative wellness, and the reason why I lean towards this way of doing things, and I already knew that, okay, I've accepted, I'm a shaman.
Starting point is 00:10:27 But the integrative wellness path really happened because of health issues that I had occurred. That occurred in my life, for instance, I was not able to breathe correctly for several years. I had three different pulmonary impulsoms in less than two years. And after, you know, giving birth to my last three children. And it really changed my life. And so in my situation, it was, I never got the right answers. I never got the right directions from the doctors. It was always basically take this pill and, you know, lose a little weight and there's nothing more we could do.
Starting point is 00:11:09 And so it caused me to go down this rabbit hole eventually. eventually hitting, you know, rock bottom to the point where I was on a oxygen, you know, home oxygen, five liters a day. And then also, I mean, five liters of oxygen being used. And then also I had to carry a long oxygen, kind of like tape as well. And so I couldn't breathe. I was avoided a heart failure. I was going into, um, uh, you know, lung failure, respiratory, respiratory failure. I was just, you know, it was horrible. And so, you know, I finally found the right doctor. I finally got introduced to the right, uh, conversations and the right, uh, treatment as well as um, testings. And that was vital for me because I, you know, was heart failure, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:09 you know, all the things, pulmonary hypertension, I was going to die. You know, that was, you know, and my, my life expectancy was not that great at that particular time. And so finally I got the right treatment. I did have to have a surgery and how I like to tell people, because it's a huge, long name and I don't like, I'll mess it up. So I just say it's like, I just had to have open heart surgery because basically, you know, they opened my chest up. My heart and lung was on. The heart and both of my lungs were on bypassed machines. It was about 11, 12-hour surgery. And now I could breathe. It changed my life. My heart is getting stronger. I'm not, you know, where I'm still in the healing process, because this was only three months ago. But things are
Starting point is 00:13:04 looking so much better, you know, with my situation. And the pulmonary, hypertension that I had, there's five different kinds. And my kind is the, they believe, is the one that is irreversible, you know, or excuse me, reversible. You know, the other four are not. And so, I'm just being healed. And I want to help others to do that. Not only to really talk about their wellness journey, whether it be diabetes, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, lupus, you know, you name it, anxiety, depression, whatever the case may be. I want to help people to help themselves and to incorporate different kinds of remedies, whether it be mind-body practices, shamanic practices, just even general knowledge.
Starting point is 00:13:51 You know, the things that we should know and ask about our health professionals and practitioners, what kinds of health professionals and practitioners that will best suit us. I want people to be educated on these things. I want people to have the tools and resources necessary. in order for them to make more informed decisions about their health and be able to co-create and collaborate on their health rather than being a voiceless victim. And so that's my goal and that's, you know, I'm very passionate about it. I have to say, you're absolutely incredible to have gone through something like that, so recent. But to be here, helping everybody else.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Just phenomenal. Where can people find you, Denise? Okay. So you, and this, you can find me on Facebook and also Instagram at, on Facebook, it's a healer's realm. Oneheeler's realm.com or Facebook.com. And the other one is Instagram. underscore the healer's realm underscore.
Starting point is 00:15:12 As well as I do have a podcast called the Giller's Realm podcast. I am on the third season at the time of this video. And also, I'm introducing more things about integrative wellness into the mix. You know, different kinds of modalities are coming in that we're going to be talking about.
