Hey guys, it's us
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called,
Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from.
some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The story I've told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast Deeply Well with Debbie Brown.
If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more.
Listen to Deeply Well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your.
podcast. Welcome to Bet the Bus. I am your host, Pay Off Willie. Happy Halloween. I hope you guys had a
wonderful Halloween. Trick or treating going to Halloween parties. While you were out in the streets
looking for handouts, we were in the lab. The boys were in the lab reviving Bankenstein. With the
boys in the back, you got Gary Mischiff. He's ready to go vandalize your house with some cash,
cash all over the lawn. You got Jackie Slips, the Slip Reaper. He is the one who knocks.
J.P. Hovey, Joey Pumpkin, he is going to carve out a part of the car.
at the end of this episode, at the end of this show, that will make you, don't want to cuss,
your pants.
Then you got Mitchie Billboard, was trying to find a nice analogy for him.
I don't know if he said it was inspired by James and the Giant Peach.
And if so, if he's James or if it's the Giant Peach in due time.
But if you're new here, we bet on college football.
We find five or six headline games going into the weekend and we double your money.
Have you heard of the rule of 72?
If you have, this show is not for you because it does not take years to double your money.
It takes one Saturday afternoon.
And this show in 2023, the record of 2023 is 33, 17, and 2.
Those two pushes at the end, those are like half wins.
So if you want to add it to the record, we're 34 and 17.
The same in the last six weeks.
The last six weeks of this show, 23, 9, and 2.
The two on the push, you add them together.
That's a 1, 24, and 9.
Boys, we get the brain operating.
We get the blood flowing.
We turn the vibes up.
We cure ED and we put money in your pocket.
Jack, Slip Reaper, recap us over the last week with Louis Locke's.
Yeah, it's good to have you back.
Louis did, you know, 500.
Very decent.
Obviously, it was a little bit of a decline from his undefeated streak of 5-0.
But it was 3 and 3 from last week.
week. I believe his lock
of the week. UNLV hit
only because that poor
receiver on their team
who was on Fresno States
dropped a wide
open which would have sent them
to the shadow
room. Yeah.
So anyways, three and three last week
we're here to take it back though.
We need to get back to 5 and no if not
4 and 1. So
with that being said, you got any other
pregame speeches? You know, words of encouragement
before we knocked this thing out of the park.
I'm glad you asked because I was thinking before this show.
Before this show, I was going to say that I'm giving you guys five picks,
five picks for the rest of your lives.
All right?
Let's go over these five picks in the next 15 minutes for the next 15 minutes.
Let's leave it all right here on the bus.
Let's leave it all right here, right there in your car, at your office, at your desk.
Wherever you're getting this episode in this podcast, please leave a comment.
But today, right here, right now, we have an opportunity to operate like gods for the rest of this show.
Now, if we go into this thing half-fast, scared, all we're left with is an excuse when the dust settles.
We're always going to wonder what could have been.
But if we dial in this operation and you guys give me every part of you, mind, body, soul, bank account, that's heroic.
Let's be heroes today.
Good call, great call, great call.
For some reason, I thought you were going to just start yelling.
Hey, also just remember that the work you put in when no one's watching will matter far more than the work you do when the cameras are rolling.
Kick us off, baby. Kick us off, Jackie.
Game one.
We're going to head to first, game one.
Game one. Also, I don't know if you've realized this, we, every single game, every single team but one on the slate this week for us is a ranked matchup.
So there's a lot of high-powered offenses, a lot of high-powered ball going.
get it started. First game, number 25, Kansas State at number seven, Texas. Spread is six and a half.
Texas missing a couple crucial pieces. Will this affect them going into this game?
You bring up a good point. Yes, this show is not scared to go after the whales out there in the
ocean right now. It's November football and teams are deciding who they want to be going into the
postseason. There's a lot on the line. Kansas State, Texas, whoever loses this game is essentially
out of the big out of big 12 contention this is a tough game
Texas won last year by seven points um I think when you look at this when you look at
what big brain Mitchell gave us Texas has won the last six matchups
Texas is also without Quinn yours and freshman malik murphy will be getting the start
against Kansas state when you look at Kansas State like they were our dark horse
last year they made us a lot of money last year in their last three games they're
averaging 265 yards on the ground per game yards per catcher
that they're giving up as a passing defense because to me, this game is going to be won in the
trenches and it's who can execute better downfield. In the last three games, Kansas State defense
is fourth in passing defense when it comes to yards per completion at only allowing
eight and a half yards per completion. That could affect Malik, the freshman, getting his second
career start in a big game like this. He did perform well last week when they won like 35 to 6,
I believe, or something like that. Kansas State beat the living hell out of Houston, like 40-something
to nothing. Where is the talent at in this game? I think the talent is on Texas's side. They have the
hogs. They have the guys. It's who can be more physical in the trenches. I think Texas does have that.
Again, they have the cats. They have the genetics, if you will, at the line of scrimmage. But the intangibles,
I feel like lean into Kansas State. This game, this spread is sitting at four and a half right now.
But I think with the inexperience at quarterback in November, if this was earlier in the year, I think
I'm taking Texas in this situation.
But Kansas State having a couple hiccups, like losing Oklahoma State,
who they absolutely murdered last year, 40-something to nothing.
Having a little hiccup here and there across the throughout the season,
I think going into November, this was a team who made a run.
And let's not forget, they won the Big 12 championship last year.
This is a coach by coach climate, who is a savant in the head coaching community.
North Dakota State, like a billion.
He's like the Nick Sabin of D1A.
Now he comes over to Kansas State.
he's really turned that culture around.
He's got those cats to run the football, to play defense.
I'm taking, I know they're at Texas,
but I am taking K-State plus four-and-a-half at Austin,
at Texas, at whatever that freaking, that bull.
What was this bull?
Bevo.
We're going Texas State plus four and a half.
Texas State, baby.
Kansas State, Kansas State, Kansas State, Kansas State.
Yeah, if I can split this game, we're going,
Texas State.
All right, moving on.
You mentioned Kansas State
was our dark horse in 2022.
Notre Dame
could be our
2023 dark horse.
It's been here and it's been there,
but it's number 12 Notre Dame
at Clemson, J.P. Hovey's
mortal enemy.
Spread its three and a half.
How do we feel?
Notre Dame has scored a combined
100 points in their last two games.
They have an offense.
Who's been slow at times this year, but they have an
offense who can score. They're six and three against the spread this season. Clemson is two and six.
Look, this line kind of scares me a little bit because it's at Clemson. But look,
dabbo is out there challenging fans right now. That's not a dabbo. That's not a dabbo move.
He's out there challenging fans. He's reading. Maybe he's not reading the comments, which I think
he might be. He's hearing it. He's hearing the stress. He's hearing the pressure. You can now see it come
out of his mouth. This is the most, the best coach that Clemson has ever had, right? If you
take me back as a player who played for Coach Bo Polini, who had a positive career at Nebraska.
He was winning 9, 10 games a year, which is dabble, right? He's winning more, he's winning like 10, 11 games a year.
But when you get that coach that's feeling the pressure from the fans, when the expectation is so high,
this team's sitting at 4 and 4 right now. But when the coach is now challenging the fan base,
I saw it with my guy, Coach Bo Polini, and I wished he would have reeled it in.
But when you're out there challenging your fan base, it's not a good look. Things are not good at home.
arguing. You start fighting over the remote. You start doing different. You start threatening
to run away. These kids are going to start looking at the transfer portal to move. I'm telling you,
things are bad right now in Clemson. And if you need a little bit more juice on why we're
writing Notre Dame minus three, if you look at Clemson's wins and losses this year, who they beat?
Charleston Southern, Florida Atlantic, Syracuse, and Wake Forest. If you look at who they've lost to,
Duke 28 to 7, Florida State, Miami, and just recently,
NC State.
Ask yourself that four-and-four category, which one does Notre Dame fit in?
Notre Dame minus three.
This honestly is the lock.
I think this week we have a more championship-style game with LSU Bama that we're
going to talk about at the end of the show that I think a lot of good data and a lot
of good conversation leads to.
But this game right here, I mean, it's as clear as day.
This is Notre Dame going into Clemson and potentially not anything.
ending Davos career because he signed like a 10 million for a billion dollar deal.
But that pressure is just going to heat up on Davo.
Notre Dame minus three.
Damn, yeah, 10 million for a billion is an insane deal.
You all know what I'm talking about.
Moving on, we have an SECE showdown with number 14 Missouri at number one, Georgia.
This game's got a lot on it, especially for anyone who has the SEC East and their favorites.
so let's pray that you make the right decision on this game.
I tell you what, man.
I feel closer to this situation that I like to be.
I was at a wedding last year,
and during that wedding, everybody was streaming the game.
Remember, we hate fall weddings.
We hate weddings during football season for that reason alone.
All my Missouri boys are streaming the game because they were about to upset Georgia.
I think Georgia got away.
They snuck in the fourth quarter and got away with the win because Missouri was up at halftime.
But Mizzou is a better football team and more talented this year than they were last year.
And last year was against a Georgia juggernaut, a generational team that they almost snuck and beat.
Georgia ended up winning the game 26 to 22.
But a couple of interesting stats, a couple of interesting data points from Big Brain Mitchie.
Five and one against a spread in their last six while Georgia is two and four in their last six.
Look, we went and watched Georgia play the gamecocks earlier this year.
And they weren't that impressive.
Mizzu can score a lot of points.
George's without Bowers, who is an all-time player.
Like, if he's not injured right now, he is at the top of the list for tight end of the year,
that award or whatever it's called.
Here's an interesting stat that the boy found that the boy came across this morning
sitting at a coffee shop.
Coach Drinkwits, drink will call him.
I think that's what they call him.
Four and O after buy weeks.
He's four and oh after buy weeks.
And you look at that receiver, LB, he's not draft eligible yet,
but this is a cat with rare speed and talent.
And I think he's going to need to have a big game.
He leads the country receiving yards, and he leads the country in catches.
And I think if you look at their quarterback, Cook 15 touchdowns of three interceptions.
He takes care of the ball.
However, he's been sacked 13 times.
I think that's where Georgia can win this game is in the trenches and affecting him in the pocket.
But that opens up the playbook to quick throws.
And when you got 511 LB, the third out there, coming from Missouri,
maybe the second greatest generational talent to come from Missouri.
who's a third generation.
I like Mazoo.
Short throws over the middle.
He's got that rare speed to explode.
He's got that home run ability.
Mazu plus 16.
I think it's too many points.
Georgia, yes, will probably win this game,
but I think 16 is too much of a landslide.
You can get caught up in the window dressing
where Georgia just ran up the score on the boys last week.
And everybody's like, oh, Georgia's back.
Like, this is the team that's heading in November.
Let's not get a twisted.
They beat Vandy by 17.
And they got away with the win against the game, Cox.
And we saw that team operate.
I'm telling you, a team who can throw the ball,
Missou can. I like them plus 16.
Mazoo plus 16.
Love it.
Yeah, it's going to be interesting, too, because
Missou's got my mighty valls next week.
And between those three teams,
that's going to be the SEC East right there.
Spoiler alert, take the over, Missouri, Tennessee.
Spoiler alert, take the over, Missouri, Tennessee.
Love it.
All right.
Another ranked matchup.
We got number five, Washington versus number 24, USC.
Spread is four and a half.
Is USC the U.S.
the biggest frauds of college football this year?
Yes.
They are the biggest frauds in college football this year.
They had everybody full.
Look, Washington beat Oregon.
Let's look at USC's last five games.
Just last five games.
Colorado, 48 to 41, they got away with the W.
Arizona, 43 to 41, got away with the W.
Okay, defense can get going.
Offense is going to score a lot of points.
Then they go and play Notre Dame the next week
and get their ass throttled 48 to 20.
Then you come and,
play Utah, you lose 34 to 32. And then last week you sneak and come back and win against Cal
and win 50 to 49. That's their last five games. Washington has beat Oregon. They've beat the
big dogs. And if this game is going to go down to the wire and let's say it's a shootout,
let's say it's a high scoring game. The over under, I believe, is like 70 something points,
70 points, I don't know. But let's say it comes down to the wire. Are you going with Penix?
Are you going with Caleb Williams? I know watching Caleb Williams in prime time against
Notre Dame, he's coughing the ball up. He has turnovers.
Penix is playing like the Heisman frontrunner, and he's only been sacked one time.
This team not only protects him, but they protect him to allow him to be that Heism frontrunner that he is.
We're taking Washington in this game to cover.
I think they handle USC, but if it is close, I'm taking Pennix over Williams in the fourth quarter.
How do we feel about that, boys?
Do we feel like we're seeing the field clearly today?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
One sack, bro.
One sack.
I love that pick.
All right, moving on to our lock the week.
and also just a game, I feel like every year that is highly anticipated, a very fun one to watch.
But number 13, LSU at number eight, Alabama, a T-Town showdown of the SEC West.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this game.
This is the lock.
Honestly, I snuck you guys.
The lock is Nebraska at Michigan State.
Take the points.
I'm not going to spend a lot of time on that.
We're the number one team in turnovers in the country, and we're still five and three right now,
controlling the West, holding the gun in our hand.
We take care of the football.
We don't put the ball on the ground.
We're mopping these teams and we're going to go nine and three the rest of the year.
The lock of the week is Nebraska with the points.
However, the headline game of the week, LSU at Alabama.
Look, I'm going to read some, I'm going to read some date off for you guys.
I got, I'm cooking over here, boys.
With Mitchie and myself, no QB has ever beaten Sabin in back-to-back years while he's been at Bama.
I know that makes you feel good, G.
That's a G-stat.
I love that stat, G.
That's a G-stat.
That's a G-stat.
It's a G-stat.
They don't business.
LSU ranks first in scoring, first downs, third down conversions,
and third down, or third in passing yards per game.
The road team, listen to this, the road team has covered the spread in six of the last
seven games in this matchup.
Some good points for Bama, some bad points for Bama.
LSU has at the over in 12 straight games, but the last six of eight in November between these
two teams, the under is hit. I'll be honest. With a game like this, you've got to throw their stats
out the window, boys. It comes down to who is going to win in the second half of this game.
Because LSU is going to score. I think Bama's got a great defense. But I think the talent,
I think Daniels, I think he's a good quarterback. He's great down there for LSU. He makes plays.
He makes it happen because LSU's defense has been, you know, they've been non-existent. They've been as
as existent as year 10 was with the Atlanta Falcons.
They haven't shown up.
They haven't been there.
They didn't get the go ahead.
And I think if you go into a shootout,
the question you have to ask is,
does Alabama on offense have the firepower and talent
and operation of Milro to keep up with Daniels
and that LSU offense?
In my opinion, no.
But it scares the shit out of me because it's at Bama.
And so for those reasons,
I'm taking the over 59.
and a half LSU at Bama.
I think LSU scores.
I do think Bama keeps up for a little bit,
and it'll come down to that second half,
those halftime adjustments on if Bama can keep up,
because I think that is the question going to this game.
Boys, how are we feeling?
A, Joey Pumpkin, carve out a parlay for us,
talk about these games.
I want to know how you guys are feeling about this weekend
because I'm telling you,
I have this caffeine in my system right now.
I had a great Halloween.
I feel like I'm seeing this thing beautifully,
and we're about to have a hell of,
hell of a weekend. Rule 72 throw it out the window. Saturday afternoon, we're doubling your money.
I love everything you're saying this week, and that is why the parlay will consist of all games
from your board, except for one. My go-to team, but I'll save them for last. First, I'm riding with you
on Notre Dame all the way over Clemson. I know you're hyped to see Dabo just losing it in the
presser. Yeah, he said, Clemson fans are all about appreciation, not expectation.
or that's how they used to be.
I was like...
And then he goes,
you're asking for the buyout.
You can apply for this job?
Like, oh, come on, man.
And it was like a 13-year-old
on the radio call.
He's on the doing the radio show.
So we got Notre Dame and Sam Hartman.
He beat him while he was at NC State.
He's going to beat him while he's in Notre Dame.
Next, I'm rocking with Washington.
I have no idea why it's that close against USC.
Pennix is head and shoulders.
Heisman favorite.
I don't know why they put McCarthy up there.
Pennix has like a thousand more yards passing, all of it.
Michigan's playing really good ball right now.
He's the front runner.
He's the quarterback.
He is playing well, but he's not on Pennix's level.
I agree with it.
Yeah, Pennix, Washington's playing just as well.
Yeah.
And they've had bigger wins.
And no signs.
Last one, no signs.
I'm rocking with the Jayhawks again.
Everybody sleeps on Kansas every week.
They're playing Iowa State this week.
They're the underdogs.
For some reason, they just beat Oklahoma last week.
So I'm rocking with them plus two and a half.
These three games is plus 602 in a parlay.
Three leg parlay.
Yes.
Plus 602.
What's the odds?
I'm sleeping on Kansas.
What was it again?
Plus 602.
Plus 602.
Go ahead and carve that in your pumpkin, boys.
I love that.
I'm going to rock with that for real.
We're going to post this.
We're going to post this on the internet.
We got to get the engagement up.
We got to leave the comments.
Boys, thank you so much for tuning in to bet the bus.
We are the boys.
and we will get you paid.
Rule of 72, throw it out.
We double our money this Saturday afternoon.
Love you, big hugs, tiny kisses.
They let the demons out.
