Bussin' With The Boys - Alec Ingold

Episode Date: March 16, 2020

On this episode, The Boys sit down with a rare NFL fullback: Alec Ingold of the Raiders. Coming off a solid rookie season, Alec compares playing college football to playing in the NFL, he explains why... he was fined $28,000 on a play with no flags, and he tells a few stories about what it's like to be a rookie (and the hazing that may or may not take place). The Boys also talk about the jersey swap that followed the Titans/Raiders game, and Taylor finds a way to bring up two more stories about himself getting got this year. Thanks for kicking off your quarantine week with us. Enjoy! Want to be featured in an episode? Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, it's us The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:00:10 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite on Humor Me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless, and at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs' tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. She's an outsider to win the French win. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lennar Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface. Listen to the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:01:36 This episode of Bustle with the Boys, the Boys, is presented by Barstool Sports. There's no way that was gluten-free bum. Straight up. Yeah, I mean it was. That was a gluten-free bun. You can look at the receipt. Listen. What was this place?
Starting point is 00:01:53 What was that place? Farm burger. No free shout-out. So Farmerger, though. That burger was delicious. It was so good. Dude, that was so good. It was like five seconds.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Mine was gone. I got the half and a half, too. I should have timestamped a couple pictures to see how fast it was. When I first opened it up, I was a little disappointed about the appearance of it because it had like the sesame seed bun, which takes me into McDonald's. I'm automatically going to get cancer right then and there. Yeah. So dude, when I opened up that sandwich, the sesame seed came out. So I thought McDonald's not a fan of it.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I bet into it. The burger was cooking. perfectly. I'm assuming medium rare had a perfect amount of pink in the middle. Not a huge onion guy, but there were grilled onions at the bottom. I believe they were sauteed. And then before I even took a bite, Talon took a bite, but you gave me that sauce, the drizzle on top. I took that bite and it kind of just took it over the level to a next level for me. Overall, overall, what would you give it? 4.5.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Dude, I agree. I agree. Can, what? Alec, tell us your rating. Tell us your rating. What would you rate it? I have to go all the way back. This is deep memory now because that was like 10 minutes ago. Describe it and rate it. I mean, I inhaled the thing. So, I mean, I wasn't expecting to have to give a full rating of it.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Are you nervous not to get a rating? It's over a four for sure. But I don't know if it's a 4.5. Well, give it a rating. You got to put your name on it. 4.3. I don't like it. I don't like it either.
Starting point is 00:03:20 I was anchored to the 4.5 and the 4. I don't like it either. So I went right in the middle. I thought with a gluten-free bun, you rarely get a good gluten-free. You rarely get good gluten-free bread. Right. You know what I mean? Rarely.
Starting point is 00:03:30 And to make it a bun at a burger, a commercial spot. I don't know if they're a commercial local. Sorry. Sorry, Farmerger, no free shout-outs. No free shout-outs. But a gluten-free bun, I want half and a half. Right. 50 pork, 50 beef. Pasturized.
Starting point is 00:03:44 You have pork? They said pastures pork. There was pork in mine? No, I got you 100% grass-fed beef. Don't worry. Got you. Relax. I was going to walk off.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Jesus, great. I was going to walk off the bus, dude. Oh, my goodness. But so I went half and half. They have their little house sauce you put on top. The caramelized onions, salt. The way you bite into it and the way, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:02 everything kind of develops in your mouth. Easy there, comp. Pause. Yeah. Good after taste. Very refreshing. It feels healthy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:13 It does. Yeah. It feels real for sure. That's why. Your stomach, when you swallow it, your stomach says, thank you. Yeah, I appreciate that. It's both. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:19 That's why I would, I would give it a 4.5. Really? Yeah. That's fucking perfect. Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. I feel left out now. You should.
Starting point is 00:04:29 You guys are on the same way. And I'm just like, I show up and it's like I get yelled at for my 4.3 rating. But I mean, well, you got the, it's not about whether we're mad or anything. It's just we disagree. Yeah, it's not right wrong and different. You're just off. Should we teach him? No.
Starting point is 00:04:44 We got to teach it anyway. I'm the young guy here. I'm a rook here. Well, I'm not a rook anymore. You are for, you are. You are for, yeah, for three more games. You're a rookie for three more games. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Here's a deal, dude. Being a rookie is not that big of a deal. I feel like, correct me if I'm wrong. But it is. It's a big deal, but it's not. Hindsight, it's not a big deal. You're okay the whole time, but the whole time you're like, am I going to be all right?
Starting point is 00:05:08 Like, when's one vet going to lose his mind? Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like you're always walking on the age? Code red in me. Right. Did you get code redded this year? What is it code red?
Starting point is 00:05:17 Yeah. So I never got code redded, but Brian Schwiky, no free shout out, it's Brian Twinkie. He got code red at his rookie year. And apparently, it's when the vets take you and they, like, saran wrap you to the goalpost and pour ketchup and mustard all over you. What? Yeah, dude.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Things got aggressive in Nashville before I rolled into town. That's like, uh, that's got pretty aggressive. Yeah, that's some hazing back in the day. No code red for me. No. No real hazing at all. I had to sing a, I mean, Hard Knocks was there. So we had to sing a song.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Oh yeah, you were on Hard Knocks. Yeah, that was interesting. But, um, no, I dedicated my song to Vontes and that didn't go well. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, because he didn't like it. He was very upset with me. Why is that? CTE.
Starting point is 00:05:56 So, yeah, I mean, trying to like, you know, earn my stripes. Yeah, sure. Like being an asshole fullback. Like, blocking all the way through whistles. Yeah. And Vontaz is in your whatever year it is. I think he's been the league for about 10 years, played six. So he was not having it with me.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Like, he hated me. Is it eight played six? Hey, but to give my man some credit, we were talking about that story. And he was like, I knew like my only way to make this mark on the team, how I would have to stand out. because there's a fullback on roster that the special teams coach loved that he brought from Dallas that they liked. And he was like, I knew the only way to kind of make my mark was to go after Vontes, bro. Really?
Starting point is 00:06:33 I mean. And he's like unanimously. He's like the gold standard. He's the dirtiest dude in the league. He's unanimously. Oh, he's thick too, bro. Is he like, boy? He can lay the wood.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Phyllis like, pause. He is like, bring the wood. He's bring the heavy wood. Oh my God. It was pause, will. Pause. Is that what's pause mean? It means like, hold up.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Yeah, like, pause. Think about what you just said. Oh, I get. it because he said he brings that thick wood. Multiple times, yes. Like, hey, put in your mouth, pause. Oh, relax. Yo, dude, I so have a kid now.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Once you have a kid, you get slowly less cool. I'm surprised you to, you haven't. I didn't know how about it. I kind of just learned what bet was. Yeah, yeah. You want to do this? Bet. Bet was a bit of a deal that pissed me off.
Starting point is 00:07:15 What are we betting on? Exactly. Yeah. You want to go here together? You let's go hit the ball game. Bet. Somebody text me. I don't want to.
Starting point is 00:07:22 I'm literally not about NFPAs is a candle. Somebody would text me back like, you say something like, bet. I would respond like, no, not fucking bet. Just tell me okay. Just say, sure. So you sing, what song did you sing to Burfect? I sang, I don't even know. CTE right there.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Jesus. Can't remember your song? I mean, it was an old school song. It was like, can you do it for us? Here's your rookie skit now. I can't even remember. Yeah, let me look it up, actually, if that's cool. it's that bad so while you're looking that up my
Starting point is 00:07:56 year it was the temptation was it was a song by the temptations I know figure it out and hey and start it and come back you got to sing a little bit do a rookie skit uh I don't like that but okay my my rookie year I sang um you have you you seen the league have you seen the show the league yeah yeah um the guy the who's a stoner guy in that show the guy in the league yeah you obviously don't watch it very much but he used to be a youtube sensation he's got a song called show me your genitals And that's the song I sang. Show me your genitals.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Your genitals. What? Show me your genitals. A genitalia. That one. But I refuse to let you go. Hey, let him have a moment. Beg and plead for your sympathy.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I don't mind because you mean that much to me. Ain't too proud to back. And that's about how far I got. And you were staring at all that. He was in the front row. And I was kind of like. Serenating him? Yeah, and he was just staring at me like,
Starting point is 00:08:56 I want to kill you. Yeah, no, it wasn't. He didn't, I mean, he was just staring daggers into me. And then it got really weird. And then I just got off because I was, obviously I can't sing. So that's about how it went. I respect it though, dude. Honestly, I, I, like, um,
Starting point is 00:09:13 perfect's a wild card. Like, that's like, um, you kind of went, did like the jail thing there. Like, you go to jail and you're like, who's the, who's the, who's the community badass here? I mean, he, you got to fight that guy. guy to get some street correct. Like run fits. Like I can't even, it hurt every single time. But like it didn't matter.
Starting point is 00:09:31 You know, you just have a choice. Because you're trying to make the squad. Being the fullback in the NFL is probably the worst position ever. And having to fight for a roster. Undrafted fighting for a spot. It's just, I mean,
Starting point is 00:09:44 it was a gritty, gritty month. Dude, that's a gritty, that's just a gritty position in general. Yeah, it was tough, but.
Starting point is 00:09:49 What was it like to get a will on? I don't think we, yeah, we never had to. A couple pillow cases just. We never really, I mean, by the time we got it was, we were all spiders. Yeah, it was lovely, dude. You guys are spiders all year?
Starting point is 00:10:01 I mean, on Thursdays we would put the pat, we would put uppers on. Really? We would go Wednesdays. Wednesdays would be kind of like a jog through. Thursdays we would do uppers. And the Fridays is again like a, like a tempo day. Yeah. And run fits were always Wednesdays.
Starting point is 00:10:17 That was like normal down and distance. So Thursdays, when we had pads on, I was chilling. Like, I was watching seven on seven. And like, I'd run a couple flat routes maybe and like catch the ball. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yeah. How crazy is the difference between like college practices and NFL practices? Like I was thinking the last practices I had was bowl prep. Mm-hmm. And Wisconsin bowl prep is like, your padded 15 practices. Like it is 100% development. It's 100%. It's not just Wisconsin.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Let's relax now. Okay. Big 10. The boys banged in Nebraska. Probably Michigan. Okay. Very fair. But that's, that's what I was coming from.
Starting point is 00:10:53 to the NFL was like we're only putting these pads on once a week yeah team periods are less you have to take advantage that stuff though like because I'm used to be able to get 30 reps before you get like padded fits before you go out for game day you get five and they're like all right good to go yeah you're good that's it you're host to you huh yeah it does for sure and you just got to wake up Sunday ready to roll like you can't I mean you got you got to have the heat pad on the neck like I'm running ice so six times today like we gotta go you're about there he showed me he showed me like uh you did you have paid
Starting point is 00:11:29 this year no oh man next year you and high tower in the hole would suck dude high tower brings the fucking wood bro high tower oh yeah hey that's right hey he ran through you that one time no you got him once no he didn't there who was it who was it it was high tower but if you always told me i don't know hey listen hey i but what i saw it from my understanding you were watching it on tv that's true that's you were We both were probably, yeah? We both were. Listen, then I'll just tell the story then.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Listen, then I'll just tell the story. We all get got. We all get got. Everyone gets got. You got to get yours before you get God. You got him early in the game. Stop, stop. Tell your story.
Starting point is 00:12:06 The last few podcasts we got, I talked about getting got by buddy from the saints. Shout out to Davis. No free shout out. Oh, that's right. Dude, he did get my ass. I didn't see you, but then you got me. So you got me to win. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:18 High Tower. I've met High Tower before. He's like, boys with Logan Ryan. I saw him. It was at the draft. weekend and we're like hanging out and he's a super nice dude like a really good guy I'm pretty sure he wanted to come to Tennessee I don't know I think he's from here and the one of the first plays of the game and the divisional game against the patriots we're running an outside zone and I'm looking
Starting point is 00:12:39 I'm like I got a hand I'm basically putting a hand out and running straight to him and I was like well it's the playoffs here we go time to just do it yeah and I dude I hit him and I'm not gonna lie I kind of want it like yeah yeah yeah yeah he went backwards and I kind of I got in his face I oh I oh yes I got in his face fake time I'm fucking I'm coming all day I'm coming I'm coming in your face all day no pause no pause no fuck no fucking I want to know what that meant back then I want to said it like that but I didn't know next time same exact play call later in the game same exact front he's staring at me
Starting point is 00:13:16 this time he knows he knows the play is my is my mic off that's how you interrupt this story I apologize how you interrupt you interrupt I'm good stories. Sorry, sorry, sorry. No, I'm just trying to... This is the best part. I don't want to get our podcast to do well and you fucking interrupt my shit. We were climbing the mountain right there.
Starting point is 00:13:31 We were climbing up. No, I can't wait. We were getting up there. Fuck you were. We were up. Jesus. So anyway. So, dude, I see him.
Starting point is 00:13:43 He sees me. We're looking at each other. I got a visor on this one. Maybe he doesn't see me. He definitely was seeing me, dude. So I run at him. He runs at me. And I hit.
Starting point is 00:13:53 We. Both, if you watch to play, like both of our arms flail. He goes backwards, though. I don't know. Roger Saffold. No, because there's another one after this. Oh, okay, okay, okay. Roger Saffold is absolutely dominating the man in front of him.
Starting point is 00:14:06 We hit. He goes backwards. I get rolled up in the back on my legs. And I get him, and I'm laying on the ground. And he's staring down at me. And I'm looking up at him. I fucking got you twice. He's like, he's looking to me like confused now.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Like, this guy's on the ground. I'm standing up. But no, I got your. Two times. Two times. fourth quarter games on the line what do we do
Starting point is 00:14:26 I'll tell you what we do we ran left because that's what you do if you want to be fucking great run the hot hand you run behind sevens and seven six and if Jack Conklin
Starting point is 00:14:35 ever listens to this podcast he can be really mad right now yeah you run behind seven and seven six we joke about that all the time I see him he sees me it's fucking game time
Starting point is 00:14:44 same play as the first two I'm thinking to myself am I about to go three for three I think I am right before the ball snap that three technique okay you're a guest on the podcast right
Starting point is 00:15:00 I just ruined I just ruined the story again so we've jumped up the cliff twice the pot's supposed to be about you but we gotta yeah it's fine we gotta do a little bit it's fine it's fine hands up hand up so I'm looking at him I'm two for two no peanut gallery I'm looking at him in the fucking eyes
Starting point is 00:15:16 and I'm thinking I'm about to go three for three the ball's about to be snapped that three technique goes from a three look I just said to a four eye. Now that changes my blocking scheme a little because now I'm in a double. Yep. All right.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I wasn't a hand before, but now I'm in a double. So I go to double the guy. He gets up the ball. I get off the ball. I turn a little bit to the side. All right? High Tower doesn't give a fuck that I have turned to the side.
Starting point is 00:15:41 No. He is barreling down. And I hit him. I get hit. I get turned to the left and I peek over my right shoulder and go, oh, no. Here he comes.
Starting point is 00:15:51 This is about to be a fucking problem. This is a runaway train. He comes and puts his jaw, I'm sorry, his forehead under my jaw and shoots me about three, four yards back. And I fall down, I spin around, I sit up and I lock eyes with Dennis Kelly, and I mouth, he won that one. But you didn't say it out loud. No, no, I said it out loud, but I mouth that he's too far away. A divisional game. Right. I'm like, he won that one. And Dennis is like, this was getting warmed up. He thought I just got knocked out. Yeah. Jokes on him. I was all right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:25 You did get up. You got up. Of the two times, which I did get High Tower, the third one was way better than the first two. So technically he won that chess match. Right. I was like, the more shit in this podcast,
Starting point is 00:16:36 I'm starting to realize I get got a lot. And I don't fucking like this. We've only talked about a couple times. We've only done like six podcasts already this year. And unfortunately, you go to the, you brought the story up. You're like, have you ever played the Patriots?
Starting point is 00:16:48 Dante High Tower? Dante High Tower brings that wood, dude. No pause. No pause. No pause. We don't pause on the podcast. All I'm saying is technique is just forehead on the chin. Like when you're in the whole legs.
Starting point is 00:17:00 That's what a fullback technique is. I would go shoulder all the time. I'm not putting my eye. Well, because if your heads up, I mean, then you're. If I was in- Fullbacks can't stop moving their legs. No, 100% no. As soon as you stop your feet, you're dead.
Starting point is 00:17:12 You're dead. You're getting run over by anybody. Literally, anytime we'd be close to the goal line or anything, we need anything short. And you'd go in, I back. God, I hope they just run right behind. behind Ingold and incognito and Richie, dude. Run right behind Richie.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Rich is a house, dude. He is a house, bro. He is huge. The crazy thing is Richie's so underrated athletic. He's so, yeah. I mean, he can move. But he moves, he moves. He doesn't.
Starting point is 00:17:40 He has no disrespect. It's post movement. It's when he's done, his head's tilted back. Yeah. His belly's sticking out, like his big body. He kind of just like waddles back. Yeah, waddles around. He looks so, like, this is no disrespect.
Starting point is 00:17:52 He looks so unathletic. But, like, he kills dudes. And he's what, 36? He just re-uped at 36. Yeah, dude, good for him. I mean, he's always in the, he's always taking care of his bod, dude. Always. I mean, that's one of those guys that, like, as a rookie, when you have, you don't have your plan yet.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Like, you're trying to watch the guys there are six, seven, eight years in. Like, that's one of the guys. He's like, 80 years in. Right. And you're just like, all right, when does he show up? Like, when is he getting treatment? All that stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Richie Richie introduced me this woman named Anna Hartman who does like she comes to my house every Friday and Saturday
Starting point is 00:18:28 during the season she runs movement rev and she's based out of San Diego and no free shoutouts and she comes
Starting point is 00:18:34 in Nashville every week during the season Fridays and Saturdays or Thursdays and Fridays if it's in
Starting point is 00:18:40 a way game and I got her because of Richie and she does the work she does is unbelievable you will feel like a bag of dicks
Starting point is 00:18:47 but on a Friday pause no pause No pause. Taylor doesn't pause. There's no pausing, dude. I don't pause. My wife's here.
Starting point is 00:18:56 I got a kid. I got the perfect alibi. You know what I'm saying? I got the perfect alibi not to pause. Yeah. So Anna comes in, you feel like a bag of dicks. No pause. And at the end of it, those dicks are gone.
Starting point is 00:19:10 You feel amazing. It's a totally new feeling. Like, she'll lift. She does like these weird tests. She'll lift your legs. And one leg will actually feel heavier than the other. At the end of it, you feel light as a feather. Really?
Starting point is 00:19:20 And you're moving. You feel good. great. She has a stud. She worked on you before. Yeah. Yeah, she's awesome. I'm a big, big, big, big fan of Anna.
Starting point is 00:19:28 So back to your rookie year. We kind of went off on a little thing there. So you sing, you sing the song by the Temptations, which... Very bad. But people, just so you know next year when you're going through camp, probably two more guys are going to sing that song. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Temptations is a very overfliped song. That and the, what's to remember the Titans song? Ain't no mountain high enough. Yeah, that song. Was that probably played this year? Yep. Yeah, no clash. Lean on me.
Starting point is 00:19:51 That was a couple. When you're not strong. I did a mocking move. I just mocked like the coach's. Kind of like I did the variable. That's why I did my rookie year. You chirped the hell out of variable. It was super good.
Starting point is 00:20:00 I was, I crushed that one. I thought you were cut the minute that happened. People were wondering if I should do it or not. Like, I think, was it West? I don't know if it's West. Somebody was like, man, I don't know if he should, man. Really? Like, I've seen dudes like, you know, they'll do it and then they'll get cut.
Starting point is 00:20:14 And then there's a bunch of guys like, oh, dude, you know, he won't care. But he didn't care. He, like, text me later that night. he was like hey good skit tonight asshole and I was like yeah yeah thanks for being a respect yeah yeah yeah Vrable is good about taking it on the chin
Starting point is 00:20:27 but if Rable Oh he comes that in the back of his head He puts that in a vault Anytime he came around me and you It was kind of like you know we just sit there It was a dick measuring competition Yeah it was just like no pause It was just fucking puffed the chest out
Starting point is 00:20:43 Who's gonna get the last comment It doesn't matter about the first comment Or the middle parts It was whoever had the last comment sometimes because sometimes we'd have a comment he'd leave and we'd back fuck oh dude yeah he got it raybo is quick-witted he's he's quick-witted individual so he's saying the song yes was like i heard camp was love with the raiders i heard it was like well i mean you weren't damn it and this is your house camp so there's
Starting point is 00:21:06 no way you would yeah i have no reference point i heard here's what i heard i heard it was like not a very difficult camp not a very physical camp okay i mean every day i showed up. I had like three heating packs on my back. Sure. But you also put it. Yeah, it was different. I'm, yeah. It was physical for me. I don't know. Dude, I don't know what, when to turn it on, when to turn it off, right? Like, I have to be on all. Like, I don't have that like, okay, this is this period. Like, we're just going to work on a technique here. Like, I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Yeah. The best thing you can do in any situation is just turn it on and then have a coach to turn it off. Right. Exactly. Yeah. When do you, one do you feel like you started getting everybody's attention? Because again, dude, you're, you're, an undrafted cat behind somebody that they already liked. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. And he was, he was one of the boys. Yeah, I think that there was one play, there was Blitz pickup, and Carl Joseph came.
Starting point is 00:21:58 And like, we had just, we had a bad blitz pickup as a running back group the day before. And so the defense is like pumped. They're like, yeah, we got you all. All right, next day, we show up, and they throw me in and blitz pick up at running back. And, you know, I did that in college and stuff, but I hadn't done any running back whatsoever. And Carl is, like, all pro, like, blitzer. Oh, yeah, he's fast as shit, too. Carl Joseph. He brings it.
Starting point is 00:22:26 And it was a loud collision. Yeah. And, you know, I just, I just, I just, three picks. No, that's Eric Harris. All right. I'm going to stop interrupting his story. But, no, he came and he tried to just run right through me.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Like, you just tried to run me over the rookie that nobody really knows. and I was you know I got inside hands whatever and I ran him back into like you know the group of guys that were you know watching or whatever because I was being an asshole like I had to smart smart and um that that was the point where like you pull it up on tape the next day and it's like okay and you're just one of the grudin's grinders now I'm just like come good did grud and talk about you um I mean there was there was definitely different times but yeah that was one of the point you talk about you it it's it gets you going like you will you will do anything for that way Really? Dude, he gets you going. He knows how to motivate. It is unbelievable. Yeah. Like, you just toss you a little bone there and you're just like, you're ready to go, you know?
Starting point is 00:23:21 It's crazy. The first week I was there, like any new guy that came, he had like a, you know how you do Saturdays, the night before a game? Yeah. And, you know, he gives a speech and stuff like that, and then you run like a highlight reel. Yeah. And he'll have highlight reels of the guy so he just brings in. Do you remember what he had up for me? He had, like, some good play of mine, but then he brought up one.
Starting point is 00:23:40 It was a Packers play that came up, and I'm thinking, like, you don't remember that. this one exactly. Yeah, I was like, what I'm doing the Packers game? You know, that was like good. Right. And once the play started, it was the, it was the play they gave it to Rip. Ripkowski, is that he his name? Yep, yep. Where he was playing running back. He's like a full back. And it was like a power play. And I had him right in the hole. I tackled him. But he like ran me over. And he like jokes too. He's a big jokester. And he's a stud, man. He's cool. You're a big Gruden fan. Big Gruden guy. Huge gruden guy. That is awesome. We're going to hold that thought and get a small little bag.
Starting point is 00:24:15 We read a couple ads. Before we read those ads, I hope you're preparing and about to have a very fun and responsible St. Patty's Day. Now, everyone at Barstow has made the switch to Black Buffalo. Before I got on board, I wanted to send product to my dad and my brother.
Starting point is 00:25:01 They fucking pound. They pound the tobacco. They pound the chewing. They are obsessed with Black Buffalo. They want more hookups. Hey, well, now that you're here, we need more of this. stuff, so I got to send them a lot more product. But since they're on board with Black Buffalo, I am now on board with Black Buffalo.
Starting point is 00:25:17 The boys are on board with Black Buffalo. It's everything you love about dipping, including pharmaceutical grade nicotine, just without the actual tobacco leaf or stem. It's dip literally made of edible green leaves that you can find at a grocery store. Very simple list of ingredients, so you never have to compromise with what's on the label. You're probably wondering who else uses Black Buffalo. Well, the minor major league ball players do. I'm sure they do a lot of other things, but this is in their tool.
Starting point is 00:25:42 toolbox. Pro football's made the switch. Hockey players are making the switch. coaches are making the switch. If you're in meetings and you got to stay up, you don't want to chew actual tobacco and you need an alternative. Black Buffalo is that alternative. Also, Black Buffalo actively supports the military community. Many dip during service and have made the switch to Black Buffalo as a tobacco alternative again. Once again, keep the ritual, but ditch the tobacco. You go on their site, Blackbuffalo.com. They got two, three or five packs. You can try the big three pack, one of each straight, mint, and wintergreen long cut for $15, as well as the FAB five pack, which I'm going to have to get my dad and my bro.

Shout out the boys at Black Buffalo for being for the boys. All the free shout-outs in the world to you guys. Appreciate you. I brought my green grinder shirt when I went there. I never wore it, though.
Starting point is 00:27:10 I never wore it, though. Why didn't you wear it? I don't know. I didn't want to be like, you know, not everybody like knew me and stuff like that yet. You know what I mean? I didn't want to seem like some dude who was trying to be like, uh. I mean, you still brought it though. Your personality, you didn't really hide it, but I mean, brought what? Right. Right. Yeah, because the boys. The boys stuff. I always, I always wore that stuff. I always wore that stuff. Like day one. Because some people knew of the bus with the boys. Do you know about it? I didn't go around saying the boys. I would you, it's like people would start saying it to where I mean, you wore that hat for like a week straight and I had no idea what it was. Yeah. And then, like, all of a sudden, everyone, that's like, yeah, everyone's like, yeah. You can buy it. It's like, what, how much $24?
Starting point is 00:27:47 Some guys would get them and then the guys were like, hey, where's my hat? It's like, listen, guys, I'm not going to walk around and be like, hey, you know, you guys want to have. But I mean, yeah, for sure. That thing is gone. That thing is gone. That thing is gone. Yeah, toward the end of the year, I did for sure. Yeah, I'm going to need to get reimbursed for that.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Sorry. It's all in that. That's all right. So, really, so, real quick, you're telling me that Will brought hats and gave free hats out? Ordered a box of hats. I think it was marketing. They were marketing agreements. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:12 I think that's what it was. You paid for them? Yeah. We paid for them. Hey, remember a conversation? I like, I know I want to let you have your moment, but also remember a conversation where you're like, hey, hey, any dollar.
Starting point is 00:28:21 See, let me have my moment right now. Hey, any, you're like, hey, any, anything we make, put back into the business. Put back into it. Put back into it. Yeah. I mean, you got raters. But you just, you just, you spent. I said anything we made.
Starting point is 00:28:32 No, no, not spend. It's like, yo, the boys want a hat. I'm getting the boys a hat. Okay. Hey boss make sure you get 53 of everything we have for the Titans this year It's okay, baby we're gonna need to get it reimbursed for the free Loan shirts What? The 53 of them You don't want to know what happened those free Lauan shirts?
Starting point is 00:28:48 What happened? So the free Lauan shirts apparently showed up They got the box and said hang Tennessee on it Jeb opened the box and it said Free Lawan and he brought it to somebody And they were like, no Oh They're like, we're not. making this a thing.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Yeah. Wow. Because I was thinking to my head, I was like, yo. Well, you got some of the boys. Not one of the boys wore it? You got some of the boys some. And then you were like, yeah, let's go off 53. No, we were going to do all 53.
Starting point is 00:29:16 I wasn't, the line was like, let's do all 53. I was like, whatever. Because in mind, I was like, what if nobody wears it? Right. Nobody wore it. I was like, damn. Well, because the old line were like, yeah, yeah, we'll rock it. And you're like, let's do all 53 because it seems like people, the guys.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Yeah. Damn. So nobody even got to see him. And all the boys were like, we would have worn it. We would have worn it. You know, empty promises at that point, but somethings you feel good. Yeah, for sure. So, yeah, boss, make sure we get 50.
Starting point is 00:29:38 So sorry, back back to Alec. I don't know where we were. Sorry, this is what this is what. Dude, this is kind of how it goes. Yeah, it is, man. We just kind of, subscribe to me five stars, but I don't know why people listen to us. You know what I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:29:53 I have no idea why people fucking listen to it. So your rookie year, you start going in your rookie year. Is there a turning point to where you feel confident about being on the team the rest of the year? No. Really? Not even toward the end? Dude, when I was there, you seemed like you were having a great time. On the inside, I was like...
Starting point is 00:30:10 Still panicked? Like, I feel like that's just my personality, though. Like, I'm not a comfortable guy. Like, I'm comfortable in Green Bay, Wisconsin, like, in the snow. Like, I'm not comfortable in Oakland, California playing for the Raiders. Like, I was never comfortable there. Just like, and it's not the environment or anything like that. It was just like...
Starting point is 00:30:27 Just how you are. That's just how I am. I wanted to, I'm going through all of these phases of the first time these coaches are seeing me. That's true. I'm on edge the whole time. Like even this off season, it's the first off season. Like, we're getting a lift in before this. Like, that's just.
Starting point is 00:30:44 I was like, listen, do you're not like combine training anymore. Like, don't take everything so serious to where you're stressed, like, thinking, once you get done with mini camp, you're like, I only have six weeks to be like in such shape. Like, it's not like you need to go peak performance in OTAs. Like, you're building your body all year long. I'm like, just don't put too much. much stress on yourself because I know you're going to. Right. I mean, and like you said, like I'd rather have it that way than the other way.
Starting point is 00:31:06 But it's a whole balancing act I'm still figuring out. Eventually it's the point, like, you should always work hard. Right. That always, always should be a thing. You're like, now you can afford it. Your diet's important. Your diet's more important than your workouts. Like, would you put in your body is more important?
Starting point is 00:31:20 As I just had three sweet potato fries. Hey, those are four. Sweet potato. That is true. Complex carb. Solid. Mm. But like the supplements you take, the diet you have, like those things play just as big of a role as anything else.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Yeah, all your recover, your sleep, all that stuff, I mean. Sleep's the hardest thing for me. Sleep, I love sleep. It's the hardest thing for me to stay consistent on. I got you. But you guys were the first, they're the first ever rookie backfield of all time. Yeah. Like we started game one Monday night football.
Starting point is 00:31:53 It was like the first time ever fullback, running back rookies started together. Really? Yeah. You got like what you got an alternate, right? I mean, yeah, it was down the line, but you still. Yeah, it was a Pro Bowl alternate or whatever. That's wicked, dude. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:32:05 There's like eight of us in the league now, so I mean. I know. It's a dying breed, bro. It is. You got to make fullbacks great again. That's the movement on the social medias, the platforms. Trying to get the fullbacks going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Well, it's like a little, I mean, you reach out to guys like Shirm was probably one of the guys I looked up to most when we played Kansas City. Yeah. And that was pretty cool. Like reaching out to him. He's cool. just feedback and stuff like that. Isn't it crazy when you get to the league
Starting point is 00:32:32 and you remember being a little kid watching these giant dudes play? And now like you're in it and you still look here like look how big these dudes are. Yeah. Because I'm like the small like running backs, full backs, you're six foot. You're not by any stretch of imagination big.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Yeah. Right? You're small. Especially when you see the grown men in the league like Clay is Campbell in person. You're like, oh, that's a fucking NFL player. Yeah. I mean, Derek Henry as a running back.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Like, that's a grown-ass fucking football. Speaking of getting got, Clay's Campbell got me this year. Did he? Run it back. One more story. Bring it back. We got another story. You want to hear it?
Starting point is 00:33:12 Oh, man. Don't know the Clay's game. Well, first off, you want to hear it? The second time, so the first time we played Jacksonville was suspended. The second time we played Jackson was at home. And, like, we ran like a duo play. Gapskin. You guys run it like probably every other play.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Right. And I was pushing the pile And Yonnik and Dawick and Dockway Shoutout to Yon Dockway, no free shoutouts Hit me in the ribs, like legit Oh yeah, yeah, that was fucked up Dirty shot to the ribs I was like, yo, was that you?
Starting point is 00:33:38 And he like looked at me and he like, yeah And I was like, what's fucked man? You weren't ready for that You're like, uh yeah Hey, you don't do that Hey don't please don't So like later in the game We're dusting Jacksonville dude
Starting point is 00:33:50 Derek is going on yet again Another fucking terror Yeah And we run like a play It's a screenplay where I get out and I try to get the corner. I get the corner. I think AJ gets like 10, 15 yards. And I turn to look and Callias Campbell lays me the fuck out.
Starting point is 00:34:05 The play's over. He's been tackled. I'm turning around and I land on top of my head. And that was it. Did you go out? No, no, I stayed in, believe it or not. I know you wouldn't believe that. I got fined at Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:34:19 That's the big fine when we played Jacksonville. That's how you got fined? I got fined, yeah. Offensive. targeting. Offensive targeting. So I caught a boss. There wasn't even a penalty. Right. There's no, there's no flag on the play and I got, I got, I ended up getting fined for lowering my head and I mean, I dropped inside shoulder, you know, that's a technique running on the sideline. 28K piece. 28 grand. You said they emailed you two weeks, two weeks later because there
Starting point is 00:34:45 wasn't a flag on the play. Right. So like, we're sitting in meetings all of a sudden I get an email like, you know, it's the whole formal like, you know, you get fined and I, I got it for my agent. I'm, I sitting there like sweating probably oh my god like and i i brought up to my coaches and they're like holy crap like that is insane because no one like that was one of the plays that we were watching like okay like you got the first down like good job and then all of a sudden 28 grand boom right from the top rope it hurt and then you try that um what did the coach grun today the coaches try to do do anything for you yeah coach grun was awesome um i mean everyone was supportive i think you know just being a rookie.
Starting point is 00:35:25 I mean, he called and, you know, he stated his claim, tried to, you know, help me out as much as he could. So, and we will see what happened, but my last game check was like $500. Really? Yeah. That sucks, man. Did you get to plead your case at all?
Starting point is 00:35:39 Yeah, I got on the appeal and stuff. So, I mean, I said my piece and, you know, it's, it is what it is. Walk through how that works. So basically, you know, you get, so I got that letter, and you schedule an appeal. So you get the NFLPA. the agent, you get on your side of the table, basically, over the phone. And then the NFL has some representatives that are listening on to the call.
Starting point is 00:36:02 They'll read you, what happened. You know, you get a visual of the play, you know, what rule you broke. And you basically just, I mean, you say whether you thought you broke the rule or not. And like, it's kind of, like, what did you say? I mean, I was just like, you know, this is a technique that I think, you know, is I'm trying to get a first down. Like, I'm a rookie. I get three, four, five catches this year. what like something like that yeah when i get the ball i'm going to try and like run someone
Starting point is 00:36:27 i'm not running away from anybody i'm not fast enough so i mean i see what was your 40 489 that's solid that's solid i mean yeah right no what's the speed rating in madden is just brutal yeah it's like honest it's like yeah you're going to get caught by anybody on defense like detackles it does not matter no way you're getting hawked yeah what they say i After you were pleaded your case, they're just like, you know, tough luck. No, so they, you know, they go back and they review everything and they take, they take, you know, what you went through and what you said and, you know, as a whole part of it. But at the end of the day, you did break a rule, right?
Starting point is 00:37:07 So it's like, kind of got to, you know, pay the Reaper. That sucks, dude. $28,000. Yeah, it's occupational hazard, though, for sure. Fullback is like, it's like, okay, do you want your guys to, do you want to inspire the guys on the sideline? Like, you're running some, like, running hard, finishing a play? you don't want to run out of bounds as a fullback.
Starting point is 00:37:25 You can't. You can't. You can't do it. Make fullbacks great again, dude. No doubt. It's an occupational. What sucks is too is it doesn't really matter like your pay scale. Like it's like an across the board like if say Taylor's the running back and was targeting it'd be 28 grand.
Starting point is 00:37:41 You can get fined up to 10% of your salary that year I think. Oh really? There's like a number like you can only get fined like 10% or something. I don't know. Staying corrected. There we go. I've been on the other end of those fines before. Yeah, I probably got brought down to that point.
Starting point is 00:37:56 That's tough, dude. That is tough. And you're a rookie, too. Like, I remember one of our coaches mess with me because I was late to a meeting and I was like crucifying myself. Yep. Because I finally made the team. It was my second year.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I finally made the team. And then that first week, I missed like a pre-meeting meeting. And I was like so hard on myself mentally about it. Like, I couldn't even focus in meetings. And my coach told me that they were going to find me 10 grand unless I had two special team tackles that week. And I was still like, you know, it was one of my first checks. And I was like, oh, my God. Like, I can't believe this is happening to me. And then, like, at practice, they're like, hey, dude, you're being way too hard. You're like, we're just kidding about finding
Starting point is 00:38:35 you. No, but that's all you think about for, yeah, until you go through the appeal. Like, that was week 15, I think we lost to Jacksonville or whatever that play happened. The last two weeks, all I'm thinking about is, like, not hitting someone with my head. Like, or at least my face, right? Right. Right. I'm going to. Right, right, right, right. But, yeah. It's a little different from, like, college. Like, college, you get in trouble.
Starting point is 00:38:56 You get in trouble yourself. A lot of a couple days in a little. Yeah. You're like, gosh. I'm going to be. I'm tired. Dude, I used to do rolls every day in my rookie year or a freshman year. Fuck up your stomach, huh?
Starting point is 00:39:05 No. I would crush those things. The plate, the plate pushes. You were legit immune to. Roll on the ground? Like 900. 900 yards? No problem.
Starting point is 00:39:14 And it wouldn't even mess up your stomach? No. I keep my eyes in the hash and I just keep going. Wow. You got to get five in your head, dude, be like, I'm just on a carnival ride. This is what we're doing. That's impressive, dude.
Starting point is 00:39:23 We had to do 300-watch for, like, having a dirty locker room. And they would, they were sitting cones all over. The entire team was out there rolling. Dobson. We're out there rolling and they're putting cones everywhere that there was puke. And so you're like having to go sideways. It was a massacre out there. Yeah, they were so pissed off.
Starting point is 00:39:37 See, when you're tired out of rolls right over that throw up. Yeah. You wouldn't? No, I mean, no, I wasn't trying to do. Dude, Matt drills? What was like in Wisconsin like winter, winter conditioning? 6 a.m.? Get up.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Tower flights? Yeah. So it's like, yeah. So if you're in the morning group, we called them Functional Fridays and they did the FUN, like it's fun functional Fridays. And it's basically, yeah, no, there is stations. There's like 15 stations you just rotate through. And it's all like functional movements and it's all competition. But I mean, when you first walk in that door and you see the indoor all set up for you and you're just like, okay, those cones look scary.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like what? You would say you were like, okay, how many? I count six. No, no, no, there's two out there. Exactly. You got eight or how many how do you think we'll go through? Three times.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Yeah, yeah. You're standing there talking with each other. 100%. And then you get that next group coming in. You're like, just. Like, Taylor, how to go. How was it? Yeah, it's tough.
Starting point is 00:40:30 And then you got those, those hardos are like, oh, wasn't that bad. It's like, just at least tell me how, like, the real way out. Just be honest. It wasn't that big of a deal. Yeah. There's trash cans at certain one for the puke. Yeah. We had to do towel fights.
Starting point is 00:40:44 We had to do, like, tire fights. Where you would hold a tire and I would hold a the tire, whoever can get it five yards. Yeah. How would they go? For me? You crush it. No, I think I was like, honestly, 500.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Some people just wanted it more. You'd be honest with you, dude. Or when you get the tight compact guys, they can kind of go to the ground and make it, make it dirty. Yeah, make it dirty. The towel thing kind of pissed me off. Like, it's a, I don't know. I never understood the concept of that in football.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Like, why am I fighting over a tire? And when you got that, when you got that, when you got that, in your mind that you're like this is stupid you're like you're like you've already like you're like fuck you've lost a battle yeah yeah that's why college like college conditioning sucks dude it's a rough it's some rough shit they're not trying to keep you for 10
Starting point is 00:41:29 years like we got this guy for for three to five years and we got to make him toughest shit and develop him as strong as he can't waterboard these kids and make sure they are fucking dude my first workout at the university of Michigan no free shoutouts
Starting point is 00:41:45 Mike Barless we fucking We did a hypertrophy workout, like three sets of 12, everything. Crushed. A whole complex with paw squat, with squat, pause bench. Then we had to do this like plyometric station. Lactic acid, built up my leg so much. I'm not joking, full body cramp.
Starting point is 00:42:01 We had to go run after this. And Mike Barlowess, anybody who's ever heard him, he had a TV show. He sounds like he's chews on glass. And he comes up, straddles me, one foot on both sides, piece in my face, bends over and goes, welcome to Michigan. How do you like my dick in your mouth? Really? Yep.
Starting point is 00:42:19 I had just enough time to say pause. Just a little time. But, dude, it was that bad. But it was every single day. Like, because we ran, we were like a spread with Rich Rodriguez. Like, the running we had to do was stupid. Like, we, like, one run for us on a Monday would be around the field twice. And then we'll do two of those.
Starting point is 00:42:42 We'll run the field once, do three of those, do like eight one tens. See, when it gets like that, it's so. Some 40s and a 300. Oops. That's the kind of shit that would fucking would happen. Dude,
Starting point is 00:42:54 college is brutal. And he gets college down like some dudes are not even running at OTAs. Oh, no, so you get the NFL. And like,
Starting point is 00:43:01 oh, yeah, don't even run. When you see the vets like taking off and you're just, you're a rookie and you're like, yo, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:43:07 Yeah. They're trying to commit suicide right now. This strength coach is about the, motherfucker the shit out of it. Hey, have a good,
Starting point is 00:43:13 have a good weekend, guys. Coach just says you, hey, don't follow the vets. And they still MF the rookies. Like guys, hey, if you learn anything, don't follow. Don't do what the vets do if you want to stay on this team.
Starting point is 00:43:23 That would be the best of the middle. Meanwhile, there's some like 10-year, eight-time Pro Bowler. He's doing the same shit. You're like, yeah, I'm going to follow that guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm going to do whatever that guy does. That was Ryan Kerrigan. Was it?
Starting point is 00:43:33 Yeah, dude, the dude is a hawse. Yeah, Ryan Kerrigan was a house at Purdue. Yeah. And produced terrible. Dude literally eats the same thing. Like, every day his regimen's the same. He stretches for like hours after. practice.
Starting point is 00:43:49 He's a savage. I remember walking in we're in mid-season and he's like Bulgarian split squat where he's got his leg kicked up on the back so he's single-leg squatting.
Starting point is 00:43:55 He's got three plates on each side on the bar. I'm like, yo, what in the fuck? He can barely do that with two legs.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Right. And he's out there doing it with one and he just looks like, you know, he looks like a gladiator. Pause. So is that,
Starting point is 00:44:10 was that a pause-worthy one? It's like, yeah. He looks like a gladiator with a shirt off. Pause. Right.
Starting point is 00:44:17 Like, there you go. That's where you pause it. There's something beautiful about a well-in-shaped man, you know? Yeah. Pause. There's some dudes you walk in the locker room and you're just like, like Cameron Wake. Shout to Cameron Wake, no free shout-outs. Yo.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Sculpt it. That man is ridiculous. No pause. I get mad at him. I tell him put a t-shirt on. Every Friday we do fat on Friday, I take my shirt off because it keeps me accountable. You know what I'm saying? And I'm like, you better eat right.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Got to be ready for that. five days, six days, you gotta do it again. Yeah. And I'll go in there by tarps off, boys. We're doing tarps off. Sorry. Another climax that was about to happen. What the fuck was that?
Starting point is 00:44:59 This juice. We're going. Who? Apologies. How long as long as we got this podcast? I'm fucking done. What were we saying? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:09 There's something. Tarps off. Tarps off. Tarps off. I was little bit like, man, I can't remember what we were talking about. Anyway, I would tell Cam not to take his shirt off and he always would. be very embarrassing for everybody, including myself. Same with Jono.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Yeah, Jono. Jono would walk in with his deep ass, hey, Luan, weight room's free. All right. Okay, I'll be in there. Fucking he's that. I'd like ask Johnny, I bet, hey, man, can you go work out somewhere else? Like, I'm trying to feel good about myself. I can't.
Starting point is 00:45:40 Yo, Kerrigan is a study. He's so strong. Yeah. The reason we brought Kerrigan up again there. Alex is showing a video of him now. Shout out Ryan Kerrigan, no free shoutouts. No for shoutouts. He,
Starting point is 00:45:53 um, when we played him, my registered freshman year, my Richard freshman year at Michigan was the most ridiculous year for Devens events. There was like,
Starting point is 00:46:01 it was Cameron Hayward with this guy, Ryan Carrigan, like Buchanan from Illinois, Whitney Merciless, JJ Watt, um, Adrian Claiborne.
Starting point is 00:46:15 All these were first round picks. Oh, yeah, those did were Saturday. There was my Richard freshman year. And we played Purdue. and our right tackle gave up like two sacks. He got benched. They put the backup guy in.
Starting point is 00:46:26 First play, it gives up a sack. Put the starting guy back in immediately. I was like, please God, do not come over here. Be the young buck. That would be terrifying. And since the theme is St. Patrick's Day, with St. Patty's Day being tomorrow, we're going to shout out the boys at D.HM. Detox.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Again, St. Patty's Day tomorrow. March Madness was going to kick off. Not anymore. We're probably quarantine. We're probably simulating 2K games out there doing tournaments, finding all different types of ways to make bets. Slam beer as always. But prepare yourselves your body, your liver, so you can make it work the next day. Listen, I am geared up.
Starting point is 00:47:02 I have these pills, DHS detox, ready to go because I can't wait to put my liver in a straight compromise for St. Paddy's Day because, number one, I'm for the boys. Number two, you might have to find a different thing without March Madness. I have an idea. You watch Bussing with the Boys. You take a drink every any time you hear the boys. Anytime you hear the word boys, that's the drinking game. Now, picture this.
Starting point is 00:47:28 You're crushing beers. You picked a nice episode to watch, and every time the boys get said, you take a drink. It's whatever episode. Lane Johnson episode, Alec Engel, this episode you listen to right now. Alec can go pick an episode. Whenever the boys get said, you take a drink. You're able to make it work.
Starting point is 00:47:44 You're able to make it work, and life is amazing. Are you tired of your hangovers that you get? You deserve to enjoy some drinks in the evening without feeling awful the next day. DHS detox is a vitamin for people who enjoy alcohol. That's us because we're for the boys. It's St. Patrick's Day. It's Bustin with the Boys. It's quarantined at the house and we're watching Bustin with the Boys and we're listening to Bustin with the Boys.
Starting point is 00:48:04 It's all of it. Celebrate without next day nausea, brain fog, anxiety, or headaches. DHM Detoxes use a science to help boost your body's natural response to alcohol. It's an optimized blend of natural ingredients, antioxidants, and vitamins. What I need as an athlete who loves to enjoy a beverage every now and then. DHS is the way to go. Just take two capsules after your first couple of drinks, not before, and it goes to work. Double up and take another packet if you're having a big night.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Again, we say the boys a lot. I can see this drinking game getting out of hand. You're watching Bustin with the boys. You're quarantined at the house. You get a few people over. It's also St. Patty's Day, so who knows if you're out about in the public. But if you know the night's going to be long, you double up and you take another packet after having a big day. The convenient packets are easy to take with you anywhere.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Whether you're on the go, traveling, or watching, I will say, I'm supposed to say watching the game, but obviously we're not watching any games right now. Again, it's 2K simulations. It's busts with the boys drinking games or at St. Patty's Day out in public somewhere. We probably can't go out in public, but we're still going to go out. We're still going to do some for St. Patty's Day because we're for the boys. It's now a key part of the drinking game routine. No days wasted after drinking because you're ready to go because the HM.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Detox has got you back because they're for the boys. Don't forget to also, obviously, drink some water and get some sleep for optimal results. We love to say optimal, but also if you're on a bender, then you got to do what you got to do. How important is your next day? For just a couple dollars, you can wake up feeling fine after a night out of drinking or a day out. You know how it is. Also, there's free shipping on all orders in the U.S. Shout out the boys in the U.S. that are about to get free shipping.
Starting point is 00:49:41 The HM detox is a risk-free purchase. So if you aren't satisfied after taking the product, they'll give you a free. you your money back guaranteed. This is a no-brainer because again we're for the boys and we're protecting the boys out there. We've got you 20% off your order. Just head over to D-HM-D detox.com and use promo code Bustin at checkout. That's D-H-M-D-E-T-O-X.com. If you have any questions, send a message to D-HM detox on Instagram. Shout out the boys at D-HM. You're for the boys. We love it. It's boys helping boys on St. Patty's Day. stay safe out there quarantine if you have like everyone stay safe we're on high alert we're drinking beers
Starting point is 00:50:22 we're having fun but also we're also defeating corona at the same sign defeat corona maybe slam some corona who fucking knows but everybody lay low out there have a safe and responsible st patty's day enjoy the rest of the episode did you did you ever have like a high tower moment sorry one of those moments with anybody i mean yeah no i i don't there is so many like times where you just a guy who just, say what you want to say. No, he looks like sculpted up, like inside linebacker, and it's like,
Starting point is 00:50:53 he hits you so hard and like, you just hold on. You ever feel like you lost it? Oh, 100%. But I mean, at the same time, you're throwing it in there every time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Regardless, you're throwing it in there.
Starting point is 00:51:04 And, uh, no, he, there's times where you definitely, you get hit so hard. Yeah. And it's just like. How close are you and Josh Jacobs? I think we're really close. I think it's a, you know,
Starting point is 00:51:16 it's a, you know, it's a, good relationship that we're starting. Like I was talking earlier about, you know, training camp every day, me, Josh, running back coach, walk in the field every day, talking, just about life, what we got to work on, you know, skill sets. We walk every day, every game day before the game, getting on the same page. So I think we definitely, like, laid a foundation for something that is hopefully going to be long term in the backfield.
Starting point is 00:51:42 How important do they want that relationship to be? You were talking earlier, like they were saying, What was the comment that they made to both of you? They sat you. Yeah, it's like, it's something where if you want to be great, if you want to be like Emmett Smith, Moose Johnston, like you got to have your families together. You got to hang out in the off season.
Starting point is 00:51:58 You got to be on the same wavelength like all the time. So I think that's something where like we're going down to Miami. And hopefully, you know, he wins offensive rookie the year. Like I'll be able to be there, share that moment with him. Yeah. Yeah. No, I think. It is out of those two.
Starting point is 00:52:14 Yeah. Yeah. They say Caler Murray's number three. two, right? He's like, yeah, it's those three are the finalists. Yeah, those are the finals, but it's definitely out of it's like, AJ finished a season crazy. Crazy, dude. AJ finished. And Josh didn't play the last four weeks, so it's about, right. So it's tough. Yeah, that dude is a, yo. When he cracked his shoulder at Lambo and like, so nobody knows that he cracked his shoulder at him. Right. Yeah. And he just comes out like, you know, he's out two series and he comes back and runs for like 150. Yeah. Cracked shoulder, bro. Like,
Starting point is 00:52:46 wouldn't practice all week long, could barely like... He was in a sling. Yeah, he was in a sling. And then he'd just show up game day and run for 120, 140, 80, 120 again. Shoot him up and he'd be... He did not practice all week, and then he would just slowly but surely was able to get his legs going and just... And after the game would be in, like, tears, because of how much pain he was in. Really?
Starting point is 00:53:08 And like when they wouldn't let him play? Like, even when we were in the tubs and you're just kind of like, hey, may, you know, like... Yeah, not in his lane. But, yeah, you'd be in tussing about, yo, how bad is your shoulder? Like, he'd be back, bro, I can barely lift my shit. Yeah, no, he wasn't. He was tough. And, like, when they wouldn't let him play, like, a couple of those weeks where they kind of rested him and then let him play again later, like he was bawling in the locker room.
Starting point is 00:53:36 Like, he wanted to play so bad. Yeah. It was unbelievable. I respect the hell out of him, man. I love shit like that. I love it when you just love football like that. He is, like, unbelievable. like he was like shaking because he wanted to play so bad really yeah it was like one of the games
Starting point is 00:53:49 it was like it was going to be a deciding factor like if we were gonna what was it was it was it was maybe the titans i know he didn't play against us yeah it definitely was it was one where he was trying to play like it was the plan and he like he was like he was like he couldn't all week he's doing all that rehab he couldn't get it going yeah did he's like in surgery after the year no so it was like something where you don't need surgery just rest it yeah it's like a crack thing where you got like That's brutal. But that dude is a stud. Dude, he's a stud.
Starting point is 00:54:18 Yeah. He's so quick. It's unbelievable. You watch his highlight tape. It's like, he'll be good for a long time. Yeah. I'll tell you what I was all.
Starting point is 00:54:26 As long as the boys blocking for him, right? I'm a big, I'm a big fan. Package deal. Let's go. That's no package deal. No pause. No pause.
Starting point is 00:54:33 Dude, I'm a big fan of that. After you guys told me, I don't know him at all, obviously. But I want AJ Brown to win rookie of the year. No quash. Yeah. He finished so strong.
Starting point is 00:54:44 so strong you got strong hands literally like on the offense line like anytime we would throw like a like a strike or like a short intermediate route to him we'd be like oh he's going house well he crushed he crushed us twice i think dude dude he like he took that 99 yard pass yeah against y'all and just pulled away from dudes and he's yeah his shoulders his shoulders are wider than mine like he's he's he's a broad dude and he he's got that mentality like he doesn't give a fuck like i love that he he said something like i was sitting with ryan tan hell and he said something like quarterbacks don't matter then he's gonna get the ball over here
Starting point is 00:55:17 we'll do everything else that's what he said right from him I was like yo this dude's a cheat he's like I just he's gotta get him on the pod get in the area the ball I'm gonna take it oh my god and then when he got he got a quarterbacks don't matter dude he's like just get me the ball fucking ball oh my god he um but then he had a dope catch in Houston like a catch like a catch like
Starting point is 00:55:38 like the problem you know like they do like next gen stats like the probability was like less less than three and um he caught that thing and I was like you needed the quarterback for that one didn't you? But he ended up like he was like close to a thousand he was like 61 yards away from a thousand in that last game. Yeah he's a beast
Starting point is 00:55:54 dude. In that same game he got that and Derek Henry was like 173 yards behind the rushing title and got that. That was a big game for both of them. Yeah. Remember when uh... Boletnikov spoke to us? Yeah. You know who Belenikov? He's got the Belenikov Award for college
Starting point is 00:56:10 for receiver. He was a wide receiver but he played for the Raiders. His whole career, right? He spoke to a savage speech, by the way. Unbelievable. Shout out bulletinikoff, no free shoutouts. But there was one, remember, he was like, you know, he would be so in the zone, catching balls and stuff like that. He would come to the sideline the way he talks shit about DVs.
Starting point is 00:56:30 He'd say, hey, anybody else wants some of this pussy out here? Like, like. The most savage shit, the dude's old as hell. No way. And giving us a speech. I'm like, holy fuck. He's like, I sacrifice, like, everything for football. He's like everything.
Starting point is 00:56:45 Really? And it was like, it gets you going. Yeah, he said he would like talk shit, you know, call guys' pussies. And then right in front of him, like when he'd catch the ball on him, he'd look at his sideline and be, hey, who else wants some of this pussy out here? You guys going to have all you want. Yo, what a savage. Yes, yes, dude. Florida State boy.
Starting point is 00:57:01 Yeah. Jesus, I wish I played this movie. We'd have to get him on here. Sit right there. I don't know if I can handle being in this bus with him. Oh, he's a cool dude. He's a cool dude. He's a cool dude.
Starting point is 00:57:11 And he's always around. Yeah, he was always around. hanging out. That was cool when we were winning, like seeing all the Raider legends showing up. That was really cool. There was a second where you guys were like the hottest team in the league. Yeah, we had one. Gosh, damn, I know.
Starting point is 00:57:24 You said so many rookies, though, that wall was going to hit eventually. Oh, here we go. I mean, that's just it. That's what it is, right? It's not a disrespectful thing. I think the Raiders have a great team. They have a great franchise. I think you guys are one of those teams that are just going to do this.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Right. You know what I'm saying? But when you have, how many rookies you guys have starting at one point? There's a lot. I don't know. I don't know. 11 playing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:43 which is only 20s hours yeah you know we've laid that egg against the jets and that's what that started out and you got to fly from coast to coast oh yeah that was a flight Hawaiian airlines no free shoutouts no Wi-Fi no Wi-Fi crossby he's first world problems crosby he doesn't get defensive rookie video though max yeah statistically he's all up there but I don't know yeah I mean he's up there but there's a there's a couple there's another guy I think he had like 10 sacks too I mean he's a he's a beast both had like nine and a half he's up for like, who's got the name
Starting point is 00:58:14 and he's, Bose is a stud. Max is, but Max was, he had some games where he wrecked the game. The Bengals game, I was watching film.
Starting point is 00:58:23 He had four sacks and I was thinking to my head because when we were to play you guys, I kind of like, look, I'm like, well, they have these D. These D.
Starting point is 00:58:30 And then you all had two rookies. Starting at D. I was like, we're good. Right. Like, I can't wait for that week. And like a week or two before,
Starting point is 00:58:37 we play as like, Max Crosby four sacks. And I looked at, I was like, fuck. He got you. He's catching a stridering for him about to play him. So I went and watched his film.
Starting point is 00:58:46 He took care of the Bengals, man. He took care of those. Man, I wanted him to get a sex so bad, dude. I know. It's pretty heartbreaking, huh? It was. He texted when he texted, when he texted to let me down that he couldn't come on the pod, he was supposed to come in on Monday.
Starting point is 00:59:02 Yeah. And he ended up responding like, hey, male, a lot of stuff filled up for things, and I got to go do this and this. He's like, I'm really sorry. Like, can we reschedule? like I want to get on, I want to get on. And I said, you remember the time that you said, how disappointed I was when you didn't get a sack on Taylor?
Starting point is 00:59:20 And he's like, yeah, I was like, this is worse than that. No. Yeah, yeah, I was telling that. I remember just being on KOR with you. And you're like, man, I just wanted this one so bad. It was so tough right at the end of the game. Hey, I'll tell you what, no, man. Gosh, damn it.
Starting point is 00:59:36 I know. How much love did you get from the boys, though, after that game? Oh, dude, that's one of the coolest moments. I've told you of my career. Like of everything. That's one of the coolest moments. All the accolades. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:59:46 That's by far number one? No, I said it's one of. One of? I'll say being voted captains probably my favorite. You really? Yeah. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:59:54 Yeah, that's big time. On the Redskins and then Nebraska. Those are two. Yeah, I think that would be pretty. If I went somewhere else and then we play the Titans and then all the boys, like, I had like 10 jerseys at my feet after, but that'd be a cool feeling. Because the coolest thing is you were on the team for a year. Yeah, that's how much of a
Starting point is 01:00:13 That's respect That's how much of an influence Will had in the locker room Like I didn't have any friends before I met Will Will, Will made me cool in the locker room You know what I'm saying? I'd have no friends Hey the boys Where was that?
Starting point is 01:00:25 He's pulling it up Is he? Look at us there they are Holding the wrong We should have I don't know Somebody like said that too Like why is Will holding his own jersey
Starting point is 01:00:34 Yeah Smiling for the picture Idiots I'll tell you in the Coliseum Was cool too I played there, I think three, four years ago I'm like a preseason game, but to be there for the last season,
Starting point is 01:00:46 second to last game. Yeah. And you guys had to be there for the last game, which you guys in with that one, did you? Jaguars. No. And we should have. We should have.
Starting point is 01:00:54 I guess the Jags. That's tough. That's tough. Offense to really help us out in that one. Oh, whoa. Throw a shit at your own team. Just at my own team, mate. There's a full offensive guys in here.
Starting point is 01:01:04 It's a fucking offense. Fucking offense guys, dude. Dude, that's a, that's a cool stadium. There's a lot of history there. I'll tell you. what we're in the fourth quarter smells like skunk dude oh it's almost earlier in the fourth quarter early in the fourth quarter i'm like we get in that one side one side of the end zone i don't know which side it was whichever side is the side that always smells like weed yeah that's the side i'm
Starting point is 01:01:26 talking about for those of you raider fans who are listening dude you smell yeah you smell right there on the sideline too i'm about to get a contact high failure drug test yeah i can't afford you kind of tap your teammates hey you smell it right you can't afford that it's not good man. You do anything away from the football field? Yeah. Have you gotten into anything yet? I'm trying to get out there a little bit.
Starting point is 01:01:45 Working on, you know, a passion of mine is speaking. Oh, really? Yeah. Talking, speaking, talking to kids, especially back home, like Green Bay, Wisconsin. Like, kids love football, but nobody makes it from Green Bay, Wisconsin. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. We got a lot of white, tryhard kids that go D3, Whitewater, and win national championships.
Starting point is 01:02:05 They're like, NDSU. Yeah. That's where all the kids go. Really? So just, you know, trying to build that up is something I'm really passionate about. You should start a podcast. Yeah. Man, I love, like, motivating and, like, talking to these kids and trying to just lay out, like, you know, what happened in my life and where you can learn, where, you know, you can follow in some footsteps and, you know, blaze your own trail and whatever it is.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Because, you know, it's a lot of, you know, you go to school, get good grades, go to Wisconsin, and then make, get a job. And then, like, that's awesome. Like, that's the gold standard. That's like the pinnacle. Right. And it's like there's so much more out there that you want to try and bring to that community. So, you know, trying to work with a lot of people in the area and, you know, get out there as much as possible. So, so like speaking, like what kind of just the topics on like your story to kind of inspire them to do the.
Starting point is 01:02:53 Yeah, a little bit. And just like. Have you done it yet? Um, so I did. Because this is your first off season. Right. No. So in college, I kind of started that a little bit, going to schools, talking to kids.
Starting point is 01:03:04 Um, trying to give them messages. And, you know, I had pictures on my Instagram and stuff like that. but, you know, just getting out there in the community and just hearing someone that's not, it's almost like, you know, you're like brother or something telling you something instead of your parents, right? Right, right. It hits your head different. It's all, it's all the same message.
Starting point is 01:03:21 It's just how someone gets it to your head differently. It's like all Alec Ingold's talking to us. Right, like, okay, maybe I might pay attention now. Like something like that where, you know, just getting kids to listen and hopefully kind of build upon stuff a little bit more than what's going on right now because there's good culture there, man. It's a lot of good people, a lot of helpful people. So just being able to just give as much as possible is what I really get passionate about. You were also talking to me about there's something in the works being built? Yeah. So my high school that I just was at,
Starting point is 01:03:52 they're breaking ground on like the biggest weight room in the Midwest. So that was just like finalizing everything like that. My head football coach, you know, just drew that up and got everybody on board with everything. So it's something where there's opportunity there where there's people investing and they see the importance of investing in these kids and seeing, you know, athletics as a part of that. So as much as I can get involved in those areas and try and, I mean, kids aren't going out to camps, right? Like the rivals, the, all that stuff. Like, kids from Green Bay don't have that. No one goes up there. No one wants to see that. So trying to just bring my knowledge of strength training, football, whatever it could be work ethic and just bring it to
Starting point is 01:04:34 the kids up there. It's something that kids are thirsting for. They're ready for it. So I'm really excited about trying to, you know, see all those different areas. That's awesome, bro. I'm passionate about that for sure. You should be. Super stoked for you. It's awesome. It's awesome. We got a lot of time to do it now. Yeah. It's not like the college offseason. Just, yeah. Go out to Nashville, hop on a bus, talk about some ball and lift some weights. Yeah. He met old Dauber. He's going to be on the flight with us tomorrow, too. Oh, yeah. You go to Miami? Crushing it. Yeah. Hell yeah, dude. I was like, what kind of agenda do you got done? He's like,
Starting point is 01:05:04 I'm just going. I'm like, I mean, you guys hang around us if you want to. Wanging it. We'll see what happens. I mean, definitely going to be with Josh, right? Yeah. For that show. But besides that, we'll figure it out.
Starting point is 01:05:14 So when is the show? The show is the first? Yes, it's a day before. Super Bowl. Day before, it would be Saturday. That'll be cool, man. That'll be cool. Rood for you guys.
Starting point is 01:05:22 I mean, hopefully AJ wins, but I'm rooting for you guys. Appreciate that. You know some background of Josh. Right. Any way it goes, it'll be cool. It'll be really cool. Appreciate you coming on, man. No worries, man.
Starting point is 01:05:32 Did you have fun? This is really cool. Oh my God, dude, one hour on the die. Let's go. Just like that. Wrap it up. Get me out of here. Kick me out of me chewing food.
Starting point is 01:05:41 That really sold the whole thing in the beginning. It was a hot start. Hot start. This is what we do on this podcast. And that's why everyone listens. They love it. They subscribe to me five stars. Appreciate you, brother.
Starting point is 01:05:51 It's good to be here, guys. Always your pleasure. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what?
Starting point is 01:05:58 We created our own podcast called. Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know,
Starting point is 01:06:14 tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman helped make you You funnier.
Starting point is 01:06:34 This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and headwriter, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Winning on Clay is an art.
Starting point is 01:06:55 The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs. on the Renee Stubbs' tennis podcast for no nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garros. She can win.
