I'm talking about when I dropped you off at your car yesterday and my car, my door was trying to close because I have a little remote thing that'll close the door for me. And you just stood in front of it and you almost broke the door. And then you walked away. way with your ass sweat to your car. No, you tried disrespect to me by like, hey, I got a Tesla, like I'm environmentally friendly. And you kind of tried like electronically closing the door and I just wasn't moving because I wasn't ready to move yet. If you're trying to shame me for reducing my eco footprint, then shame on you, sir.

Because me and Leo, yeah, Leonardo DiCaprio, I call him Leo because we know each other like that. We're doing our best and we're moving forward. That being said, you say the same thing in your Ford Raptor? I never, in the Ford Raptor, it's Eco boost, dude. It doesn't matter. I can't even pull the trailer on the back of that thing. truck I'm getting built.

That's not ego-friendly. Yeah, it is. It's built on, it's my corn syrup, dude. I pour corn syrup into my gas tank and then little kernels come out of it, dude. That's how my truck runs. Why? I don't even use plastic anymore. This is not, this is not plastic, dude.

This is hemp. You just can't tell. You just can't tell because I'm so, dude, I'm so environmentally for it. I know. I might save the world right now. That doesn't stop from also being disrespectful. We're at breakfast the other day. And we, okay, so anyone who goes,

goes into breakfast, guess what? You have to order your food. Do you not have to order your food? What do you mean? Like when you, I, what would you like, sir? Well, I would, I would, I would like this and that. And do you change this out for that because you have to do all those things. I ordered my food. Okay. Then you ordered your food. I even went first. So you had a good gauge of where we were at. Yeah. Then you went. Then our food comes out and you ask, you have the audacity to ask me for some of my food. We're not dating, dude. So here's what happened. He asked me for a full of a call. Here's what happened.

We're walking in Fido's. Awesome spot in Nashville, by the way. Yeah, we're not going to, but we're not going to, you know what you're going to do? We're going to bleep that out. So when he just said awesome spot on, you have no idea why? So we're walking in. Whoops, what I was talking. We're walking in and Taylor goes, hey, Will, appreciate breakfast, by the way.

Okay. I'm for the boys. I'm the boy. Yeah, I get it. You drove because you asked me, hey, let's ride together. So we're walking in. That's actually 100% true. And he's like, hey, appreciate breakfast.

My man orders, checks the menu, literally orders a, you know, standard breakfast off the menu. It says, you know, no hash browns, no bread, no cheese. Solid choice. Did the same thing. He said so, but for fruit. Add three avocados. Three side orders of avocados.

Two extra flanking steaks. Yep. Latte on top of it. Ice latte with all in milk. Orders a completely entire meal. And, you know, You do it. Hold on time. Time out real quick. What do you do at a lesson? Do you not order an entire meal? Oops. Go ahead.

And Mikey, he orders his mail. I order mine. Like the bill's over like $100 at this point. It's $94. It's 9.m. in the morning and I'm paying over $100 for a breakfast. $6 under. And so I'm eating my food. I'm getting a little hungry. I'm getting a little. I should order a little bit more. But I didn't because I'm like you, I got to order less because my friend ordered way too much. And I'm on a budget. Like I don't have a paycheck right now. and Taylor, I look over and I'm like, hey, you mind if I have a bite of your avocado, please, and thank you. Oh, my God. And he's like, dude, take your peasant meal and you just eat alone by yourself, like over there. And he's like trying to shove me off my chair the whole time being super disrespectful. And I'm, you know, taking it like a champ.

Like, hey, you know, don't sleep to his level. Like, he does what he does. He needs, he must not be getting much attention at home by the bean. So, you know, I do my thing, but that's a story. He didn't, it wasn't me being disrespectful. It was this man ordering a huge check, me taking care of the boy, and I have no ending after that. Oh, you don't have an ending. No.

Because it's a false story. That's why you don't have an ending. Yes, you do. You didn't say, hey, may I please, do you mind? You actually try to use your fork and go over to my side and scrape it off. And I literally, why was I doing that, though? Because you were leaning on me. No.

You were leaning on me like, hey, this is my side. There's a line on the table and you were past the line. Okay. You were taking my elbow room. Can we talk about Madden ratings? Oh. Can we talk about your Madden rating? Can we talk about how you're a three-time pro bowler in a row?

Yep. And you have a Madden rating of 81. You're not even the highest rated O-Lignment on the Titans. Do you have the 24? What? You're not. Saffold is. Saffold, right?

Saffold's 83 or 81. I saw it. And I'm like, yo, that is disrespectful. They really disrespected the Titans. And I remember looking at that one like, yeah, what? They're like trying to troll you is what I thought. But yeah, you're 81, Cepholt's 83. You're not even the highest rated alignment.

On my team. Yeah, on your own team. You know what the most fucked up thing where this whole thing is? You knew that information. You waited to these cameras around me to drop a fucking bomb like that on me. I didn't even think about it. That didn't even cross my mind if I was a high. is ready to tighten.

Yeah. Are you joking? Not joking. No offense to the boys, my babies, but come on, Madden. Yeah. Dude, I got a Twitter battle with Madden the other day. They're like, they're like strength set, like seventh best offense alignment speed, fifth best. Like, dude, okay, I had the top 10, 40.

I have a top 10 40 in the last 10 years. At the combine? That's 10 years of, at the combine. When I jumped, my broad jumped, I set a combine record. All right, my split time was under 1-7 for all of you math nerds out there that is elite for an offensive tackle. All right, I've made three Pro Bowls in a row. I'm so fucking disrespected by EA Sports. The whole tide's roster.

It's no longer in the game. Look at the roster. Look, Roger Saffold, 83. Taylor Luan, 81, dude. Yo, look at your picture. Can you click on his image? Yeah, it's my rookie year, dude. Every year they tell me, hey, Taylor, do you want to take another headshot?

I'm like, dude, get the fuck away from me. You should probably take another headshot. I'm not taking any of that headshot. You know what I'm going to do, dude? I, like, I'm going to, dude. You know what the fucked up thing was? When I was at the Pro Bowl this year? Look at that.

When I was at the Pro Bowl this year, Madden asked me to go in to do one of their interview processes to talk about how my, how I should be have a better rating without me even knowing my rating. Not understanding the amount of disrespect. I'm the 21st rated tackle. Okay. You're the 25. First of Madden? Yes, 21st rate of tackle.

Oh, my God. That's the, yeah, yeah, I didn't know that either. That's the middle of the road. The highest rated guy on the team, and obviously he's my favorite player, so he should be. But he didn't even play last year. Delaney's the number one rated titan, or Titan on the roster. I can't say a bad thing about Delaney. Yeah, I can't either, but I'm still, you know, you know what I mean.

So disrespected. Dude, I, fuck them. I had nothing good to say about EA sports, dude. You want to know what happened to? So I typed in. I typed in your name, or I typed in the Titans roster. I just wanted to check the Titans roster. What sucks is then I follow up and type in search player.

I type in my name. Yep. Zero results. Not even on the game anymore. Well, I mean. Like I get your, you feel disrespected during 81. Like I think it was a 68 last year. I think the highest I've ever been is like a 73.

Well. I mean. Well. I mean, you're not, I mean. If I'm, if I was a 73 and you're in 81, that just meant you're only, what is it, eight. You're only eight above me, dude. No, I'm 81 above you. You're not even in the game.

What does that mean? Like, the math is pretty simple, dude. Well, I'm a zero. So, well, actually, no, you're probably, what's the math? What's, how do you get to a 99? Is that, was that 18 points? Because when you create your own player that says Compton with 51? Dude, and I'm going to be a 99.

You're going to be a 99. I'm going to be 9. So you'll be 18 above me. When I was young and I created a player, it would always be a black guy. Because I just. What's with you on black guys, dude? Well, that sounds weird, but it's not really it. It just wasn't, you know, you're right.

Yeah, I used to, I would never recreate Will Compton. It would always be like a black guy that dominated. Yeah, like I never, um, that's great, Will. Um, I never played EA sports.

I, the most sports game I ever played was NFL Blitz, dude, and that was it. Uh, I did play, uh, dirt bike games, though, however, and I always named my guy, Trey Olin. Why Trey, Olin? And you didn't get to pick his race. Why? Because motocross doesn't see color. It's because they're decked out in gear and you're not going to see color. It's not like I was seeing color.

This wasn't like a... Dude, you need to go take a black. I need to go take a long look in the mirror. African American Studies class or something like that. Did all my roommates have, you know, been black? That's like a white guy saying the N-word, then saying, no, it's cool. My best friend's black. My president used to be Obama.

He never came. So next year I'll invite you. But I was in Cabo, dude, and these, uh, these headbets. Have you been to Cabo with? Oh, yeah. Okay. So I'm in Cabo at this taco shop next to, uh, this, like, beach bar. And they're these headbands.

Like, one says, like, uh, uh, like big dick, and the other one is like, I hate my boss. And a bunch of stupid headbands. Well, I'm buying these headbands for my buddies where about six margaritas deep. And I look at these two girls. And they're like, I'm like, hey, do you guys want headbands? Like $3 each. I'm like, yeah, I'm going to throw these girls a solid.

These girls are like, yeah, absolutely. We love it. And I guess I didn't hear them, but my buddies heard him. One girl was like, hey, what college do you think he goes to? Because this is in March, so it's spring break. And the girl goes, they're not in college. They're so old. they're so

and I heard that and I was like yeah but Witt's on a different level I'm gonna kill myself yeah but I'm headed there like you're like you're like yeah they don't even have $3

coming out of that thing now you are you you bald before and that's why we needed to make that disciplinary decision? Well, I actually, in high school, we were really good, and our deal was, we always shaved our heads

going to the state championship, the whole thing that did. And so I started doing it then, and I kind of liked it. And so, in college, I just kind of rolled with it. My freshman year, I was like, you know what? I'm just going to shave my head and go with it. And I grew it out, like, one year in college, but outside of that, all that's shaved head. I just kind of rolled with it, man. And then, you know what? My junior year in

college, I was like, I'm going to grow it out. I can either, you know, look good. She's thinking I was good looking, you know. Thinking I was good looking. And it was. No, there was no hair left. Dude, were you? You know what?

I'm going to shake my head. There's no way you had to think to yourself, I'm going to grow my hair out to figure out that you were balding. There's no way you kind of saw it when you go first shave. Like, you know, there's less of this stuff. Well, I kind of thought it was thin. But I thought like, hey, you know what? It's going to grow back in. It's going to be okay.

Yeah. And then it was just pure half-ring. Like, I had a horse shoe in my head. And I was like, oh, my gosh. Dude, that's brutal. Like, honestly, did you ever think to yourself, like, you know, when I get older, I'll do the, uh, with the, the plugs or anything like that? Brian Ehrlich. Oh, yeah, I mean, that's crossed the head.

Like, you know, like, hey, you know what, would that be an idea? Like, but, uh, it's so bad. I would never take the time to try to grow any part of it back. Yeah, don't do it, dude. Erlacker put his, the hair plugs in and stuff. And I just, it looks so weird. Like, he's such like a- It doesn't look right. Yeah.

He's like somebody to look up to as a backer. Now he's got his hair and you're just like, uh, you just, you just, It doesn't work, man. I don't see he's got that sharpie. He's sharpied it in. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Hey, so planted LSU, were you there when Bo Pellini was there? My last year there was Bo Pellini's first year there.

So you probably have no good Bo Pellini stories then. I played for Bo. I don't have many. Yeah, he was pretty quiet. You know, that was left his first year there too, too. Oh, quiet. It was kind of a feeling out process for all of us. You know, I mean, he blew a couple of jackets here there, but.

That sounds more like the boy. Nothing too major. Yeah. Well, go ahead, Taylor. You know, you always get the feeling that his blood pressure is running on like a thousand. But, you know, he was definitely intense, that's for sure. I feel like every coach in college is like that. Like, for some reason, they just got to lose their mind over nothing sometimes.

Like, that's the way. That's Bo. I was so freaked out when I got to the league. Like, everything was yes sir, no sir. And then, like, our linebackers coach, Lou, he's like, hey, like, you can cut the surf shit out. Like, just call me Lou. And I was so nervous. I was so nervous to call him by his first name.

but like yeah in college man it's weird it's like you're in the military or something like that like the uh drumline and everything yeah a bunch of stuff going on they got PT in the mornings got it all going dude it's wild i can't imagine doing that in baton rouge man what are those games like in uh in baton ruse was a pretty pretty wild because zach meant me was a good buddy man you know anytime we played like a team that had to come from either the north or the like you know when time we played to organ state you know in baton rouge and it's just like early in the year you just felt like those guys were just like, what in the crap is this? Did.

Weather. I mean, that humidity would jump on you so fast. All these tough people, when we're in training camp, we used to, like, literally have, like, 40 minutes. Every 40 minutes, we'd have to, like, stop practice and, like, cold towel people, like, give everybody cold fruit. Like, you just, you were so worried if somebody was going to die so far. I mean, it was just unbelievable. It was that bad. Oh, crazy hot.

Where did you spend most of your time? Forget football. Where did you spend most of your time in Tiger Land, do? Were you, like, a bogeys guy? You're Fred's guy and Mike's guy? I was never, really never a bogey's guy. Maybe later in my career when I thought I was cool. But, you know, like, a lot of people,

Bogies was more like you thought you were super cool. Oh, that's hard to hear because I love boge. I love boge. I love boge. I dated a girl from Baton Rouge. One of my teammates was my teammate's sister. Worst mistake he ever made in his entire life. But I went down there a bunch of bats.

Rage, I loved LSU. Went to see Mike the Tiger. The whole campus is awesome, dude. You're only improving what I just faded. What's that? You're only improving what I just faded. Yeah. And we would go to Bogies all the time, man.

You can't have tattoos showing or nothing. And, like, the manager came up, and he saw, like, a bird on my forearm. And he's like, I like, I like that bird. You can come in. That was, like, all it took for some reason. But Bogies was my spot, man. Then Zach Mettenberger took me down there a whole bunch. Crawfish boils.

That place was just. Some dark stuff happened down there, man. That place is crazy. Like Mettenberger had a cot in the back, but yeah, it's definitely where kids think they're cooler than they actually are. Where was your spot then? You know, well, later in my time there, I was definitely opposed to Jacksonville. But early in my career, you know, it was the stadium club. It was freds and redgies and just, you know, just shirt off jeans and some shoes and just like sweating your face off.

Nobody wants to touch you or get close to you. You know, it was just big guy, just all big guy, just big fat guys running around drunk. You know, it was not attractive. Dude, if I, if I... It was not attractive at all. If I was a regular pedestrian and I walked into a bar and I saw you, the behemate, that your shoulders are twice as white as mine, you're like a forehead taller than me, if I was a regular, if I was a Wilcompton looking dude and I walked into the bar and I saw you,

I'd immediately, with your shirt off and denim jeans on, I'd be out of there. I would just, I'd have to walk out, dude. You're an intimidating figure for sure. I saw him in Vegas one time with McVeigh. They were on some bachelor party. I don't know if you remember this, Witt, but I felt that way. And he was already, he was just dressed up sitting down. Yeah.

I was like, yeah, McVeigh, good to see you, man. Like, this is wet. And he just looks at me and kind of shakes my hand. And I'm like, oh, God, this guy is, he looks like he's just going to swing on me right here. Dude, the only way I know Whit, Witt's always sitting down. Like, everywhere I see him, he just finds the most comfortable chair in the room. And that's where he's at. Post it up all night, man.

Yeah, you know, and I post up. That's my deal. I post up by my spot. I don't care what I'm saying to my spot. You know what I mean? You got your spot all night. I love it. That's it.

Dude, so way back in the 40s, you were a second round draft pick. You're also white, so there's a lot of privilege going into the NFL. You play for a long stint with the Bengals, and you make a transition from guard to tackle. What was that transition like and was it hard? Was it harder since you're going from a spot that's known as not as athletic to a spot that's more athletic. Not really, just because in college I only played left tackle. And then my rookie year in the league, I played left tackle,

because our left tackle got hurt. And so really my second and third year, I played left guard. And, you know, I enjoyed it actually because when you're in that little box, you can just try and root people throw it off and they can't go anywhere. So it was like, it was kind of fun. I kind of enjoyed it. I was just to say, like, the anxiety and just like overall, like, just calmness was so much better in the air because you literally could just swing.

and who cares, something good's going to happen. But, you know, you don't have the edge where you're like, oh, God, my pinky miss, and it's over with. So it's like playing on the edge is just so different that I just love playing inside it. It was just like the most fun two years ever because it was just, you know, get after it and go crazy and something good, decent.

I'm like, oh, man, at least you were physical. So it's like, oh, okay, great. But out on the edge, you know, it's just a different world. Don't you get on that edge, especially if you start winning a lot of games. and start playing in big games and playing big-time players. So the edge is always been totally different. Who's the best player you've played against so far ever in your career? Oh, that's a tough one.

You know, I always say that if you ask a big guy, a limine-and-fat guy, I'm a food, right? I've got to put it in categories. You know, there's Italian, you know, there's steakhouses. I can't just give somebody the number one. I have to go pure cash right. I'm going to go Dwight Freeman. Yeah, he's a stud of a span. He was one hell of a rusher.

Him and John Abraham, back in the day when you got those guys and you played against him and they were up on you a couple touchdowns, it was like the least favorite day of your life. He said back in the day. Yeah, dude, there's nothing. There's nothing worse. I'm going to give credit in the different categories with guys who play day in a day down in a day.

You mean, Terrell Suggs and James Harrison for playing those guys for 10 years. I mean, dude, just as physical and getting after a type of guys as you're going to play. You know what? It was a lot of fun playing against them in one heck of a competition. James Harrison's, I had to play him my rookie year on Monday Night Football, and it was like the most intimidating week because, like, you know how some offensive line rooms are. Some guys don't talk. I'm sure you don't chirp very much, but I'm sure you know from us getting to know each other.

I do like to chirp a little bit. And the old line room is like we're going into the game. And they're like, hey, dude, just don't even say anything to him. And the first play of the game, we threw a pick six, and I cut him, and he went down, and I just started going off on him, like, you know, just telling him all sorts of things. And the rest of the game was probably the most miserable game I ever had to play in my entire life. We ran an outside zone. He got a really hard hand, too.

He does, man. And he does that where you go to punch him, and he grabs your arm and uses your, like, momentum to swing himself around because the center of gravity is so low. he's an intimidating figure and it's crazy he's intimidating because he's like five six yeah I know just straight yoke he's just straight a bowl like a rolling ball of butcher knives dude just like running around

but he didn't say much dude like I went to run an outside zone to the right like the next time we were on the field and he like he chased me down and grabbed my leg and gator old my leg and I was like oh this is oh this is going to be that kind of game he was mad at me because I was saying I was saying a whole bunch of stuff to him but

he's a stud dude both those guys are studs And as far as, like, Abraham goes, I remember, do you know Jake Long? Oh, yeah. So Jake, Jake's like, was like the hero, right? Because I went to the University of Michigan. And I remember watching him in a Falcons game, dude. And he beat Jake off the ball and picked him up by his throat and put him on his back. And I'm thinking to myself, like, yeah, there's no way.

If he's going to be, there's no way I'm going to make it to the league, dude. He was a special rusher, man. When he got off the ball, ooh, man, he was special. His speed and his ability to do jump unders and one arm's off his speed was just, Abraham was something else. No doubt. What was changing gears a touch?

Talk to me about last year, dude. How cool was it to make it as far as going to the Super Bowl? Then how tough was it to deal with something like that, that late in your career of, you know, kind of taking a loss? I think, you know what? Honestly, for me, it was easier to lose the game to your career. because Hey, wait, wait, wait,

go back, go back a little bit. You know, Whit. Hey, we lost you. Cool thing. I've played 13 years. He's not listening to. Yeah.

Are you there? Hey, Whit, can you hear us? Wait, can you hear us? He there and be a part of the press. Wait, holy shit. Witt, can you hear us? Winning the game, obviously. Hey, wet, wet.

As many games, I felt like I'd won, as many division championships because of one of my career, to never have the opportunity to actually go into the big one. Just awesome. I enjoyed it, man. And obviously, it's tough when you lose. But, you know, for me, honestly, at this point in my career,

it was harder for really for guys that I just believe in than I thought deserved that opportunity with Sean McVeigh and Jared Gough and Gurley and a lot of these young guys that I just think, man, you know, what, they're super talented. And I've played really good football. And Sean has done a tremendous job in his first couple of years. It would just been awesome.

to see guys you believe in, win it, and be able to stand there and be proud of who they are. And so for me, it was tough in that way, because that's kind of how I am. I mean, I want to get what they deserve. So that was probably the toughest part about it. But the rest of it, man, I'm good, brother. I've got four kids. I've got a lot of things going that are wonderful in my life. A Super Bowl would have just been something cool to add on the wall.

But, you know what? I'm still going swinging. It don't matter. Man, I got most of that. Can you hear us? We lost. Can you hear us? Yeah, Joe cut out. Yeah, you cut out in the beginning, but we definitely got a lot of that.

We got a... That was hilarious, dude. We were literally yelling at you. We're like, wet! Wet! And you're like, you're just going and going. So we're like, hey, we got to let this answer ride, dude. But from the last question we'll answer, ask you about that.

Like, I remember after the Super Bowl, I'm sitting there and like, I was texting you before because I was like, you know, people, when you play the league, everyone's like, who do you want to win? And, like, my thing was always like, well, you know, Tom Brady played for Michigan, but, like, I knew you and I knew how good you were, you've been to me. And I was like, you know, I'd love to see Wick get a Super Bowl. And then I see your interview after, and they, you know how the media is. They sniffed it up.

And it was like, how do you feel for the Super Bowl? And you're like, well, you know, you know, eventually you just die and you can't take anything with you. And I was like, oh, my God. Is my guy all right, dude? Yeah, yeah, yeah. What was the whole situation there? Yeah, it was great. I mean, it's one of the things to be, you know, obviously those guys, not many of them are competitors

and don't really understand the context of the question. As I think, I'm going to be in a little confusing to them as I don't understand philosophifying on the next one. But what I said to them was, as they asked me, they said, hey, you know what, your career ending, and you're not going to take home the Super Bowl, because most of them assumed I was retiring, they said, you know, how do you feel about ending the 13-year career and not, having a Super Bowl. And what I said was, is I didn't care if I won 14 Super Bowls, went to 20 Pro Bowls, whatever it was, what's more important to me is who I am as a man and how I go about myself on every single day because we're all going to die and we're all

going to one day those trophies aren't going with you. What people are going to remember me by, I hope is who I am as a man, who I was as a friend, who was, that father. Those kind of things are more important to me than some trophy because at the end of the day, those things, who cares? I mean, you know, you can win a million Super Bowl. If you're an ass, I don't really care to know you, and I don't really care about you. So, you know, to me it's about who you are on a daily basis, more than it is about what record or what trophy you got. If you're disrespectful, then you're not really somebody I roll with.

So I don't care what you've won. So that was kind of the answer that I gave them. And obviously, in a media fashion, they take what they think they can write a whole story about, and they only wrote the part of the same rock and die, just wrote their own lyric. So, you know, it's fine, it's cool, but, you know, I understand that's part of it, but I probably got a little too deep for them in that moment. It's just tough, man.

People, yeah, they definitely want to take what they want and spend it knowing you for, I mean, a short amount of time, but getting to know you in the cool situations like the Pro Bowl and stuff like that. Like a special time for me and our friendship was when, I don't know if you remember, but I was at a steakhouse. We were at that steakhouse in the hotel that everyone was staying at, and I had my family there, friends there, and I was telling everybody, like, hey, first Pro Bowl.

Like, this one's on me, guys. Thank you for everything. and at the end of the whole thing is, you know, the waiter comes up to me, and we did not spare any expense, dude. We were getting after it. And the guy comes up to me and goes, hey, Mr. Whitworth actually paid for your meal. And I was like, you know, that's the coolest thing ever because my first proble was you and Joe Thomas and me in year three. And I'm looking at you guys like, you dudes are legends. I've been watching you guys forever.

And it was like such a cool experience to just even something like that was like super cool to me. So the kind of person you are definitely, and you say you hope people will see you in that side of the way. Well, I definitely do. And any time your name's ever brought up, I always talk about the kind of person you are more than anything. You're a hell of a football player, and I hope you play for 40 more years, man. But I really appreciate the guy you are, and I appreciate you coming on our podcast. Yeah, I appreciate you all having me, man. I appreciate you saying that.
