Bussin' With The Boys - BONUS EPISODE: Will Anderson Jr., Tank Dell & Nico Collins On Who Should Wear The Oilers Uniforms

Episode Date: August 8, 2024

Recorded: July 26th 2024 Bussin' with the Boys BONUS EPISODE! The Boys went back to back training camp days. Their second stop? Houston, Texas! Home of the young, hungry and talented, Houston Texans! ...The Texans were a HUGE surprise to the casuals of the game just last year. CJ Stroud was dialing up TD's to a loaded receiver core while the Texans defense locked down majority of their opponents in 2023. Divisional champs, and a win in the Wild Card was an impressive display by this inexperienced team. Will and Taylor were particularly impressed by the streaks of greatness from Tank Dell, and the sharp play of Nico Collins last year. Making them a perfect fit for interviewees on this year's training camp tour. Will was especially impressed by Will Anderson Jr. and his ability to take over on defense. Will Anderson Jr., Tank Dell & Nico Collins breakdown their thoughts on the future of the Houston Texans, their roles in the teams success, and how the Texans can build off of last year to hopefully repeat as AFC South Champions. Will Anderson Jr. talks about his childhood of growing up with sisters that would constantly prank him. Tank Dell emphasizes the importance of this season, coming off of his leg injury from last year. Nico Collins names a few of his favorite "white guy sayings" and meshes with Taylor over some Big Blue talk! All three players were an incredible time while on the show. They were never too busy to stop for autographs (sometimes even mid interview). They all fought through the training camp woes, the rain, and the elements and delivered an awesome interview. Shoutout (no free shoutouts) to the Texans staff for all the gear they gifted us, and rain jackets! The hospitality in Houston was phenomenal! Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, it's us The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:08 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from. some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
Starting point is 00:00:44 help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Ashanti Plummer from Fud Around and Find Out. This week, Aizee Fudd and I sat down with Step and Curry.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Step talks pressure, confidence, and what it really takes to stay great. There's different categories, I guess, on like conditioning, shooting drills where you try to simulate kind of games. Look at her face. We have a love-hate relationship with those because you know you're getting something out of it. You don't look forward to those days. Listen to Fud Around and Find out on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Boston fans Houston Texans fans thank you guys for joining us if you are not already subscribe to the podcast we went to the Houston Texas training camp Taylor take it away listen to me and Tennessee Titans got myself it was I was hurt every single moment I was in that building they had a clean operation there they had a good solid practice we had Will Anderson Nico Collins and Tank Dell on Nico Collins tank Dell brought those two together on same episode great time they set us up right behind the fans it was loud obnoxious Mitch in the back was actually filming this right now told us that actually the audio came in pretty good and that fires us all up. We hope you enjoy this. If you're a Houston fan coming here for
Starting point is 00:02:08 the first time, do as a favor and subscriber of five stars right now. And then I'm going to tell you all so tight enough. Have a great day. Big hugs, tiny kisses. We hope you guys enjoy this episode. We're rolling. All right, here's the deal. Usually we're in a small studio where the music is not playing behind us. Fans are not behind us. So I'm going to need you to put that mic as close to your This possible when you're talking about it. But we have Will Anderson on the podcast. Give me an applause real quick. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:02:33 Thank you for having me. Starting as a freshman at Alabama, national champion. During the Sabin era. Drafted third overall in last year's draft. The defensive player year. Defensive rookie the year for defensive players. The hammer. The Terminator in college.
Starting point is 00:02:51 What do we call you? What's your nickname now in the NFL? They still calling me the same thing, man. What is that? The Terminator. Terminator. They still calling me that. I don't know if you know anything about us.
Starting point is 00:03:02 We both play for the Titans at one point in our lives. I think I see you going back and forward with somebody. Was it on my team? Maybe, probably. Honestly, Bill O'Brien and I had a couple of run-ins with each other. He's the old coach here. But there's always the talk of the Houston Oiler uniforms. I want to talk about your stance on who should be able to wear the Oilers uniforms.
Starting point is 00:03:22 I think we should. I mean, it started here in Houston. I mean, we should be wearing. I'm doing them, man. We, we, we, we do them. What do you think about this? What do you think about this? Because you guys play twice a year. Game one, the stakes are, whoever wins, earns the right to wear the retro's in game two.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I like that. Would you be against that? I wouldn't be against that at all. See, I would change one thing to that. And it's just like a trophy game in college. So the previous season, whoever won the last meeting, the first meeting, whoever won keeps the uniforms on. So it's always every single game.
Starting point is 00:03:54 So if you're wearing the uni, you can't wear it until you beat them, basically. Once you beat him, then you get it. I like that. You like that? Yeah, I like that. Let's propose that to the NFL right now. We should. Change the rules.
Starting point is 00:04:04 But we should just have it overall. Yeah. Whoa. I know you got to stand up for Houston. But growing up, I heard you were a madman. Your old man was hard on you in football. I heard you got pranked a lot by your family. Like, throw us back to the young and days and give us a story or two.
Starting point is 00:04:19 I also heard your old man would pull you out of the game from the stands. So like, I didn't have a typical guy to where like there's something was going on. he was like keep my son in the game like why my son not playing he'll be right here in the stage he said get his ass out of there coach he don't want to play right now sit his hat come on you can come up here next me
Starting point is 00:04:38 we could go home that's type of dad I have man my dad was tough on me he didn't play like all the whining and then poutin and all that man he was he was on me hard you had a Friday night lights dad of course I had a hole in the ball I stopped hearing my dad once I got to college but going all the way up until high school
Starting point is 00:04:53 I heard him every game and once I got to college I was like yes I can't hear his voice over there Did you ever get pulled out of a game in high school because he was saying? Oh, no, no, no. About time I tuned them out and I was doing my thing back then. Coach is telling you, hey, stay focused. You know he's bawling out too. The coach is like, I don't know what his dad's talking about.
Starting point is 00:05:08 He's definitely not pulling Will out of the game. Yeah. Alabama, what made you want to go to Alabama? Honestly, I always tell people, it was a gamble. I was like, I just want to see why they so great. Like, I want to see what they do. And I early the road, and I remember my first fourth quarter, when we broke it up, I literally took a knee in the hood and I was like,
Starting point is 00:05:26 damn, this is why they're so. great and I was really thinking over my whole life decision but I really just wanted to go to to compete for real for real like just to go against the best and like really like make a name for myself any fights any fight stories back in the college days because you guys have a lot of dogs on your guys's team I would assume it gets pretty heated in those in those saving practices a lot of fights man my last year there I remember with like a whole like scout team it was so crazy because the scout team offense and defense we used to fight all the time and we was like man, I know today they're not going to try us.
Starting point is 00:05:57 And it was just one day, it was super hot outside. And when the Olamma had pushed one of the DBs in the back, and it was just an all-out brow for like two periods straight. And Coach Saban was cussing everybody out and saying, get your asses back to the sawline. And I think he pushed somebody too, so I don't know. But that's just between us. Did you get some licks in?
Starting point is 00:06:13 Yeah, I got one licking. Yeah, I got one. Dude, you guys, it seems like every day I practice, you guys had something going on out here. Yeah. Why are temper so high in Houston? Man, I think it's just the competition, the competitive nature.
Starting point is 00:06:25 now, like, everybody's competing at a high level. The energy's high. It's positive. And I think it's just brotherly love, man. I think that's what makes really great teams great. When you and CJ get drafted last year, you know, recently, before that, Houston was like a dumpster fire. I mean, honestly, though, it was. It had a couple years.
Starting point is 00:06:44 It had a couple years. Yeah, but a lot of expectations on you guys coming in. You got Coach Ryan's too. What do you feel like was the biggest shift last year with you guys coming in that first year? I think it was just the coach of shift. getting the guys, you know, they played in a lot of close games. But I think getting the right type of people in here, the right type of culture, hard working, all that type of stuff in here was like the best thing that could have
Starting point is 00:07:04 happened to this place, just the shift-wise of mindset and mentality. Is there a play or a moment that you identify where you feel like you earn your respect to the fellas? Um, I would say every snap, man. It's not just one particular play. I feel like every snap I'm continuing to giving it off with my teammates, trying to be a good leader, man. Just try to fly around and swarm every play, man, and just be there from a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:25 my team and show up. When you talk about leadership, you obviously being in Alabama, you guys are at the top, the top of the food chain, you're taking third overall. So you were in a big leadership role there. Going into your rookie year, how did you try to demonstrate more leadership at such a young age when you have these like 10-year vets? Three kids, a couple mortgages. And they're like, man, what are you talking to me about, leadership? It was so crazy, man, because I actually got voted as a captain in my rookie year. And it was, it wasn't a shocker, but it was just like, I was nervous. Because I'm like, just like you said, like, I'm a young dog coming in here with these 10-year vets. men. They grown men. Like, I'm new to the league. But I think the biggest thing for me, I just want to keep my head down and just work hard and show them like, I'm not all talk. I'm not going to just try to like talk to you guys. I'm just going to show you through my actions and then we can build up to it. So like this year I try to be more vocal. Just because like I know right from wrong. I know how a coach is supposed to go and I know how to set the tone. Are you more of a vocal guy? We got to go to during our spring tour. We went to Bama and that
Starting point is 00:08:17 staff, like everybody in the building talked insanely high about you. Are you a big vocal guy? Yeah. I brought the defense up last week, man. to him, man. And I think that's what you have to have. It's some type of leadership and camaraderie with the team, man. Just to know that, like, we got to keep this thing going and what happened last year was last year. We got to focus on this year. With, I lost my train of thought. I have a fun one. Go ahead. So I was, I was, uh, our producer shot at the boy Sherm, was telling me that your family, like, you had a lot of pranks happen. You guys are a big pranks or family. Can you give a couple, a couple pranks that are most memorable? So one time. So my dad used to breed pit bull.
Starting point is 00:08:55 So we used to have a whole bunch of pit bulls in the backyard. It's great start. He had two of them roam around. And I was little at the time. And we had this giraffe suit. I don't know why we had it. But my sister's dressed me up, and I think we just been to play around the house and, you know, all that.
Starting point is 00:09:09 They put me in the giraffe suit. All I know is all five of them, like, they picked me up, took me to the screen and door, open the screen in door like this wide and just let the dog start, like, growling at me and trying to bite me and, like, trying to, like, attack me or whatever like that. And I was screaming and crying, like, Hey, how old are you? How old are you?
Starting point is 00:09:26 I was probably like five or four years old at the time. It's just five pitches. And you thought the assault thing was bad. Hey, he got a style to. It was just kind of staring flashing back. I'm like, man, I was like, I was really crying. Like nobody, and the biggest thing, like my parents used to work during the day. So I just used to be at home with them by myself.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And I mean, I was crying. I think I ain't even going to embarrass myself like that. But I almost peed on myself. I think, man. Bro, that would be terrifying, bro. Shit. The worst than brothers, I'm telling you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:54 They're worse than brothers. Pipples. How many Pipples were there? A lot. A lot. We had a whole backyard. My mom made my dad. Another situation happened and we had to get rid of all of them. So you're not the point of contact for all the fellas when they want a dog.
Starting point is 00:10:06 You're not like, hey, I got you. Well, we breed them now. We breed them. We just started, my dad just started breeding again. So trying to get the business out there again. But it's cool. Hey, on defense, you guys got some studs out there. I was just looking at the guys.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Is Al-Shir? Yes. Al-Shear. He came over from the Titans. Tell me about him, dude. And he looks like he had. And Archer, right? Autry?
Starting point is 00:10:24 Enneco Archery. Yeah. Infectious personality. Once he brought to the table here. Man, he's incredible. The energy that he has, the way he can bring the defense up, man. And I remember one situation in practice, I had jumped off sides and, like, I've never had anybody, like, get on me before.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Like, I correct myself. And I got mad at myself. He said, stop fucking pouting. And it kind of like, he don't know who I am. And it was just that respect level because I'm like, okay, he challenged me. I like that shit. That's what we need. And ever since then, like,
Starting point is 00:10:53 The defense has just been on one. Like he gets everybody going, man. He fires around and he has fun. And he does it the right way. What traits do you enjoy the most, like watching Coach Ryan's, being his first head coaching job, being a defensive guy? Like, what have you liked the most about Coach Ryan? I just love that he's a player's coach, man.
Starting point is 00:11:09 He actually coaches and he actually love his players, man. And he actually gets a time to know his players and actually coach them and get them to no ball. And just more than ball. Can you talk about, can you talk about, like, an example of what that means, like players coach because obviously we throw it around a lot but I feel like we know in our minds like when somebody walks in a room and they feel like you feel like they're connecting with you more one-on-one and teaching the game versus hey you have to do it this way you have to it that way is there like a certain
Starting point is 00:11:36 example that you're able to speak to when talking about him being a players coach so for instance when I first got here you know most head coaches when you drive the rookie they could have just been like man just go out there and do what you normally do like whatever you're doing in Alabama and I came up to him one day and I was like coach like how can I get better on this and that and he started He said, Will, I just want you to get better at one thing. I just, I don't want you to do no other move, the rest of the count. He said, I just want you to work a long ago. I'm a work a bull.
Starting point is 00:12:00 That's it. That's the only move I want you to work, and I want you to just keep perfecting that move every day. And he got them to show clips for me. He got them to make a real for me and everything. And every day he was just on me about that. And for him to, like, just say, I want you to work on this one thing. And he showed me clips. And then follow up with it.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Yeah. And just show my progress and my pro-girl. That's what made me even respect him even more. I love that. That's awesome. Yeah, I love that. You talk about working on one thing every day. Talk about going against a guy like Lammy Tonsol every single day.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Man. Man, I think Bemma kind of preparing me. Like, being there, like, they have great guys, you know what I'm saying? But then you get here, you go against an elite guy, like a really elite guy. And he gets me better for sure. Like, going against him, it's hard to beat him because he's so technically sound, man. His feet are beautiful. I mean, I watch his set, and I'll just watch how he does everything.
Starting point is 00:12:49 And it's still like, hey, I can't beat him. But he's great, man. Dude, he is stout. His feet is massive, too. Energy is so casual, but his feet are like typewriters. Yeah. He can stay square for so long. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:01 I think that's what makes him really great. He can stay square in his stand. He doesn't open up the gate. In our division, who have you had the most difficulty with? Colts, Jags, Titans. Because Titans, I hate saying this, you kind of went on. You kind of went crazy. And it pissed me on.
Starting point is 00:13:18 I would say the Colts number 72. Yeah? Just because he's like, I was a rookie. ago, but he's just very strong-handed. Once to, like, just grab your hold on to you. The other side was a good side. But other than that, that's the only part of it. Is 72 the one you're most looking forward to seeing this year?
Starting point is 00:13:34 Yeah, I mean, I'm looking forward to going on against the teams. I think this second year, it's been a confident boost. And just going back and watching the film and being so embarrassed, like, what were you even thinking? Like, what were you even doing? Yeah. Coming out here trying to get better at those things. Go ahead. I was going to say, on the flip side of Coach Ryan, you mentioned the things you love about him.
Starting point is 00:13:50 What is a pet peeve of his? Who, Coach Ryan? Yeah, a pet peeve that you have. That he doesn't like? That you don't like. Not that you don't like, but it's like a pet peeve of him that kind of shows the human side of it. It's not everybody. You don't just love everybody all the time.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Honestly, man, I don't really have one, man. He's great. And I've had some coaches, I did have pet peeves, but like, man, he's, I respect him so much because we have the same personality. We have the same mindset and mentality. so it's easy for me to play for him and understand him. How about pet peeve of Coach Saban? Let's see. I mean, it prepared us for it,
Starting point is 00:14:32 but we would literally do like team run versus scouts, and then we do team run versus ones back to back. Like, we're going right back. And I was just like, bro, why can't we just do team run versus the one and get it out the way, bro? Right. You're all tired now? Bro.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I know we got to get you at it. here we're going to do twisted question real quick the twisted question sherm yeah twitching for a year or you can eat meat if it tastes like celery for a year so the question is you can eat meat for a year but it's got a you got a fish and hunt for it or you can eat meat and it tastes like celery for a year oh well y'all much don't know i'm a fishing no we know oh we read up on you i'm fishing and say yeah damn it sherm sorry about that question let's yeah he's in outdoors. He's saying he's going to eat what he kills.
Starting point is 00:15:25 What he catches? Can you hunt? Oh, no. See, that's a whole different thing. You're going, was it, Pesmaterian? I guess so. Why are you hunting down a deer? Why are you scared of honey?
Starting point is 00:15:35 Man, what are we hunting first? Let's just say deer. Oh, that's easy. I can't have to stay. What are you scared of? What are we lying? We in Africa? Boy, they be like the boar hunting?
Starting point is 00:15:45 Yeah, but y'all, do y'all in South love that shit? No. Guys, hey, guys ever take you? I'm sure you had guys in your team that would go hunting boars, with knives only. Knives and dogs, I never got a chance to get out there.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Hey, that shit looks crazy, right? I'm scared of that. I take my chances on the lake, man. Yeah, what would you do? What would you do? Oh, I'm killing. I'm a hunter. I'm a hunter.
Starting point is 00:16:08 What are you talking about? Once a year. Jay Ciccicos try to come out and just be a baller. I come out and try to be opening a dresser. And just to tell you, that one hunt a year could feed me for the rest of the year.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Just FYI. I just know what I am. I know what I am. I will die. I will literally die. I'm a domesticated cat. And it's just, it's about living.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Give it to that next year. Hey, Will, bro, we appreciate you for coming on, man. We know we got to get you out of here. We appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:16:34 But good luck. Stay healthy. Thank you. I appreciate y'all for having me, man. Yeah, bro. And go Titans. Go Houston. Ladies and gentlemen,
Starting point is 00:16:41 we are back at our training camp tour right now. It is loud. Gentlemen, uh, Nathaniel Jasper, Del and Nico Collins. The government. Don't call him by his government.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Yeah. We got the boys with us. just to finish the practice. If you're listening and you're frustrated because it's loud as fuck outside, it's because the fans are going hard for Houston right now. These kids are running up. What is it like having fans here, boys?
Starting point is 00:17:02 You guys love it? It's amazing. It's amazing. It's a reason why we hear, man. The energy they bring, you know, they're the reason why we come out here every day and just have fun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:09 They bring the energy to the season. So, like, I feel like for us, man, it's really just going out there and having fun for them. I love that. You said everything. Where would you guys rank, where would you guys rank your receiving core in the league right now?
Starting point is 00:17:21 I'm confident. I'm confident. So me personally, I mean, we got to go out there and put in the work and show everybody else. But, you know, I feel like our confidence in the receiver room, I feel like we're going to say first. We're going to say we top two and not too. What other teams out there do you keep your eye on or do you think would be in that list with y'all? Man, there's some great receivers. You got, I feel like you got Chicago, Chicago, one of them.
Starting point is 00:17:49 They got a great receiver room. I still feel like Tennessee, you got Calvin Reed, Hopkins, you got Tennessee doesn't have a sneaky They're sneaky right out. They're sneaky. It's some great receivers all over, so, man, there's a lot.
Starting point is 00:18:01 You got Vikings, Dorian Addison. Yeah. You got JJ. I feel like with us, man, we're just all different. We're different. I feel like everybody game here is different. You know, you got, oh, no, it's different, man. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Yeah, we got to, don't be scary. Get their lips. No pause, no homo. No ditty. Yeah, no did he. Hey, but like I was telling you before, man, congrats on your contract extension. It's always massive when you get that next contract extension.
Starting point is 00:18:27 And bro, for you, I feel like you have such a crazy story. Starting out at Alabama A&M, I was reading up a little bit of your high school, like trying to get your first offer. They pull it. You go to community college. Then you go to Houston with Coach Carrier,
Starting point is 00:18:40 and I think that is an awesome story. Can you talk about, can you try to put that your story in a nutshell and talk about like what Coach Carrier meant to you when he bet on you going to Houston? When everybody else was saying he is not the right build at all to kind of get in a wide receiver room. Yeah, man, Coach Kerry, I love him. I still talk to him to this day, man.
Starting point is 00:18:58 He did everything for me. I feel like without him, I wouldn't be where I'm at today for sure. And it's funny because he told me, like, once I got to Houston, I wasn't going to leave. And now that I'm here, I don't want to leave. But, man, I say, like, back in Juko, you know, I didn't have, back in Juko, I didn't have, like, no offers. I had three offers, Central Michigan, Akron, and Houston. And he came, he actually flew all the way to Kansas for me and sat in there. We met for like an hour, 32 hours.
Starting point is 00:19:22 And he just looked at me in my eyes. Like he could saw that I was hungry. He saw the dog in me. And like after that they gave me the offer. I earned the offer. And it was rap after that. Was there ever a point in that process where you were thinking yourself, maybe football is not for me.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Maybe these people are right? Nah, no. I felt like either way, however it went, I was going to get here regardless. I was going to just keep my head now and keep working. I was going to find the way for sure. So I never felt like that. What do you feel like you learn from take? in when he gets drafted, or when he gets drafted, comes into the league, and being an undersized cat.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Yeah, man, it's really about the dog in them, the heart. You know, it's not about the size. You know, it's not about what you bring to the table, man. It's really about your heart, your mindset, man. And since the day when he came in, he came in on the mission. And it showed every day, man, the off season, during the season, practice, man. Like, the boy hungry, you know what I'm saying? Like, he wanted to rock.
Starting point is 00:20:12 He want to shine, man. I feel like it's the ground he'd been putting in, ever since he got here in the offseason and season, it's showing, you know, it's the reason why he's special, you know. So I feel like, man, for us, it's like, it's wide out. This whole offense, man, we're going to be dangerous, man. Once you start clicking, getting in the rhythm, getting our swag bad, man, it's going to be in trouble. The league will be in trouble for sure.
Starting point is 00:20:28 You talk about, you brought up swag, dude, and obviously the Tennessee Titans have probably the best alternative uniforms. Yeah. And all of the NFL. Yeah, yeah. Red Cross. They had. I feel like hours, hours five.
Starting point is 00:20:38 That's crazy. You think yours are better than the oiler ones? Would you rather? Tough. Who did you? Your line. That's your line. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:44 The baby blue is we got now. The baby blues is basically just trying to copy the oil. The Oilers. But my question, I'm going to turn out. Started with us. You feel me? That is a crazy thing for him to wear around here. We will play for the Titans.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Who do you think should be able to wear the OG Houston Oiler uniforms? Come on, man. I feel like it. He was there. He has known about copyright laws? He has no about owner, but Adams. I don't know about that.
Starting point is 00:21:10 With all that? Yeah, they got it with that. Yeah. How do you feel about this? So, like, trophy games, college, like the Paul Bunyan trophy. Yeah. Whoever wins that game, they. bring the trophy to the next game.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Whoever wins, takes it. Got to take it, yeah. So Houston plays Tennessee twice a year. Need that. Whoever win the last game gets to wear the oiler uniforms. And every time y'all play, it's oilers. I like that. I feel like that's the best decision to have.
Starting point is 00:21:34 The best one, right? Yeah, that's the best one. They want to change that rule in the league because that would add so much of the rivalry. We wouldn't be able to wear when we played them ever, right? Yeah, you cannot wear those uniforms. But I'm saying the OG Houston Oiler. Yeah. Like if y'all beat the Titans.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Yeah. The proposal. is it's up for grabs by y'all every year yeah yeah's essentially the trophy game yeah okay I know that I know play y'all be able to wear it I like that you like that pretty smooth hey you have a fun recruiting story with coach Harbaugh is it true that he eating his fries he ate your fries yeah man man yeah man it was crazy I came in man from um lunch right so he came in him and coach pelt um so they was in the field house man you know he sat down you know I was eating my lunch you know he said what's up um Jim harbour I'm like how you doing Nico Collins like fool is kind of good
Starting point is 00:22:18 he's going to grab the pride right i'm like go ahead you know just have it you know but uh and then that night man he um he came over to the crib you know he stayed over and um he was sleeped over yeah he slept over it was crazy because i wouldn't expect to him to feel me to chill he was in you like in a camper outside or man i'm talking about he shared the room he came in no he was in liver room he was in liverwood on the floor so he came in the floor yeah so he came in the city man so he was there the whole entire day him and pelt hamilton and um we was there just chilling you know he said we're going to stay the night I really didn't believe it until he really didn't leave. It was like nine o'clock.
Starting point is 00:22:51 I'm like, oh yeah, he's for real. Yeah, yeah, it was for real. You know, so. Yeah, he had to commit. Yeah, so he was one and now. I was like, yeah, Harbaugh, he's locked in with me, man. I feel like ever since then, he stood out to me in my whole recruiting process. So I feel like, man, Harbaugh always been that guy for me.
Starting point is 00:23:06 When you were at Michigan, did everybody have similar stories about Harbaugh doing wacky? Yeah. It was the craziest thing. Craziest recruiting story you heard about Jim Harbaugh? Crazy recruiting. Recruing? I think the recruiting one just. just stand at the recruit house.
Starting point is 00:23:20 But one day after camp, he jumped in a swimming pool, like, full of clothes. Cackies, collard shirt, cleats. You know, he went over to that real talk, yo. He went over to the swimming and the dive thing. They told him to come over there, and he jumped off the highest thing, like cannonball, grabbing one leg, full of khakis, belt, hat on glasses, all that. Like, just drumming in a head. I'm like, yo, you're different.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Yeah, I love it, though. He's a great coach. We had a chance to go out to Oregon and interview some cats. johnson was one of them are you familiar with tess yeah so tz claims that you are the swaggiest receiver in the nfl yeah for sure for sure that by drip that borgiaz that borgia for sure who you think's competing with you you know what i do i'm like dion like i I let mine all out before the game. I feel good.
Starting point is 00:24:12 I lay mine all out. I have to. I get to. I have to picture myself in and, like, put the sleeve by the, by the arm, that's real. Taz was talking about, like, if there'd be, like, if there'd be, like, gold on the, on the green cleats, you wear, like, a gold mouth. He's like, it's a detail. Small stuff.
Starting point is 00:24:30 It's the small stuff. What's more important to you? The pre-game fit or the game fit? Game fit. I say the game fit. I don't care about the pre-game. I come in there with some. Some black Air Force ones.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Some gym shorts and a jacket. I don't care about it, like, dressing up before the games. Yeah. I care about when I'm on the field. I feel like all eyes on me on there. Is there another receiver around the league that you peep his game, you peep his fit every week? Nico be swaggy with the two sleeves.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Diggs be swaggy. I sweat too much. I get hot. That's a bad. Come on. It ain't really too much people, though. That come hard like that. So you're changing the game of fashion in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Yeah. I ain't chasing. Oh, you said changing. No, man. What dog? What'd be tripped up. I hope so. My dog would be soft.
Starting point is 00:25:16 I hope so. What, uh, should we hit a segment with them? Yeah, let's see. I wanted to talk about the off season, man, that the shooting that took place. You had a, you had a fib, all that stuff. Like, how was that turbulent process for you? Like, what was that night like? Say that night like when you got shot at?
Starting point is 00:25:34 Oh, when I got shot, how was it? Like, it's closer. You kind of say to a little soft. Yeah. Yeah, because you think happened to me a little bit. I can't hear him. You said, how was it? So it was it night that the shooting happened, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Yeah. How was it? No, like just like how it all went down, the process of coming back from that. Oh, yeah. Well, it went down just at a pool party, you know, a fight broke out. People did what they do, you know. In Florida, you know, there's no gun laws. So everybody's just carrying guns now.
Starting point is 00:26:02 And a fight broke out, somebody pulled out a gun, shots went off. I ran. I got hit. I didn't even realize I was here. until like when I was running I jumped the fence and when I came down I felt like a sharp pain go through my leg I was like oh shit that's when I figured I got hit but I mean afterwards you know after I got out of the hospital like once when I was in the hospital when they told me they was like um it was a through and through it told me that I'd be good and I could play football
Starting point is 00:26:26 again and like it would be like a week or two for recovery a week to three weeks for recovery man I felt fine I was like all that's all I needed to hear. I was grateful yeah like the next day I was jogging like I went down to like the basketball courts where I was standing at I was like jogging on the basketball courts just getting my mind right I'm like I got to get back fast as possible so that was my whole thing that's my whole mindset when he made the come back for you guys playing many men when he came back in the wide receiver room. Sure.
Starting point is 00:26:52 I'm glad my dog good. Hey, so we got a segment on bushel with the boys called tier talk and the whole idea is to rank your top three of these things. Our tier talk segment today is going to be white guy saying. Okay, okay. So things you hear white dudes. Say in the locker room. Do you take a minute.
Starting point is 00:27:10 White boy saying. White boy. Okay. Oh, no, let's talk to each other. He said, let's talk to each other. He said, let's talk to each other. What else? What else? What up?
Starting point is 00:27:23 You got your three? I got two. What a boy? I don't know. Yeah, me neither. What up, boy? That boy? Nah.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I think mine here, I'll start it off. Being a Caucasian myself. Talk to me. I think what's up, bro, is the stable. That's awesome, man. Yeah. That's awesome. And I think number one, my tier one is.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Nobody no. Nobody is the man, the myth, the legend. There he is, the man, the myth, the legend. Like an old white dude said, especially when you get a little older. That's real. You become a dad. That whole the man, the myth, the legend starts to enter your buck. The man.
Starting point is 00:28:00 The myth. The legend. Yeah. I need Ben over here with me. Yeah. I received a coach, Coach Ben. He got all the lingo. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:05 He got all the lingo. I don't have no slogans. Let me see. Let me see. Hey, dude. Hey, dude. What's up, dude? What's up, dude, is probably my tier three.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Yeah. See, I coach me like, no, no way. He'd be like, no, buono. No, boino. No, boino. You mess up in film? No boino. What the freak.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Yeah, what the free? Yeah, what the free? What the free? What are? Just your casual, nice to meet you. Always a firm hand. Nice to meet you. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:28:35 That's a good one. That's a good one. No, Buena, what the freak. I love the freak. Sounds like you're going to diversify yourself. Yeah. Yeah, we know. No, we got a lot.
Starting point is 00:28:44 We got a lot. We all talk the same, no. We all talk the same. We all talk the same, bro. Like, you know, like, I got a head friend. I got to hang around somebody for so long. They start to pick up on their slang and league on stuff like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:57 The white boys in our room, they talk like us. Yeah, we all, yeah, they pretty much, yeah. We all are saying. We all are, we all this man. Yeah. Football is a different weird. world. Yeah, it is. Because you know in the locker room, everybody's making fun of each other. Yeah. Yeah. So he'll like, you really get a real white voice. Oh, what's up, dude? What's up,
Starting point is 00:29:12 dude? What's up, brother? What do you want to go do today? What's up brother? Yeah. You got to. You got anything else for the boys? I don't, man. Yeah. And we appreciate you all coming, especially during camp, dude. The dog days, the dog days, the humidity, yeah. The rain, all that the rain, all that. Yeah. Hope for the best for you guys. You guys have a great career. Have a great season for two games. You guys have a pet peeve of Coach Ryan. Coach Ryan's, yeah. Biggest pet peeve that he do? Because obviously, everybody He's always got all the best things said about him. Biggest pet peeve?
Starting point is 00:29:39 Everybody loves. The biggest pet peeve with Coach D'Amico, and he's going to laugh. Is he always want the defense to win? To win, no matter what. That's the pet peeve. That's the pet peeve. And he'll be like, aye. Defense wins, it's a great day.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Great day. Offrey. It's got to be better. It could be clean as a day. We won a rep? No, we love. That's what you expect from a defensive coach, a defensive player who played defense in the league.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Hey, but a pet peeve with the offensive side. is when the defense is successful, the offense is like, oh, you know what's on the script. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for real. But that's not true. They script watching. What are you?
Starting point is 00:30:15 That's true. No. That's true. You know the whole. And all the run plays. Yeah. We have walked through the night before. On the place we're going to run the next day.
Starting point is 00:30:26 So they know. You feel, they're like, okay. The same. They're watching. That's a tip. Walk through the night before. That's real. And also when they do, they, they, they, they, they, they,
Starting point is 00:30:35 They'll script everything. But like when we, when it's all scripted, defense does really well. As soon as the scrimmage takes place, all of a sudden the offense starts going on. Oh, crazy. You know, crazy. He knows that.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Because then it's like, hey, we're just going to call it today. Once we go off script, all script, just call it. Yes. It's done. It's done. It's been great. You guys have you guys on. Go big red.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Make sure you're subscribed to the podcast. Sir. Yes, sir. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate you. Thank you. Hey, guys.
