Is there an epidemic against literature?
More specifically, black literature.
I'm Jack Quist-Peace Thomas, and on this season of the Black Lit podcast, we're outside asking why.
They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators, Michael Rex's and Martin with the Kings running around.

This is the Bustin with the Boys recap show with myself.
Look, dude, this entire week of Week 5 football was nutty.
A lot of situational awareness.
a lot of things we're going to get into.
The 49R Seahawks, look the best two teams in the entire NFL.

We are going to go into this 49-0 Seahawks game. I just,
I need to take a breath from it.
It literally just ended.
We're doing this now.
You're going to see this reaction show up on Busson's YouTube channel.
And I just thought that this was a massive litmus test for both teams.
We're going to get into it.
But it started off as such a defensive battle.
I believe there were seven total turnovers, 35 points off of turnovers.
That's the most in a game this year.
The Seahawks were entirely too loose with the football.
The 49ers defense, I thought, did a heck of a job.
And I think that's really one of the main reasons in the first, really three quarters,
if you really break down Brock Purdy while the San Francisco 49ers were able to get into it.
Offensibly for San Francisco.
This is the toughest test they faced.
Brock Purdy got sacked multiple times.
He was pressured at a 60% rate.
He had not been sacked at all the first games of the season.
He hadn't been sacked coming in this game.
So you go against this Seattle team whose Mike McDonald is an absolute G.
We saw just a lot of dink and dunk.
You know, Debo Samuel got hurt.
George Kittle had okay.
The only saving grace for the 49ers was Mike Evans.
Like Mike Evans to me still got it.
It's the best thing to ever happen to Purdy.
One-on-one situations, just throw this thing up.
San Francisco was able to win a close one, 32 to 29.
Offensively, like we were saying, it's the Mike Evans show.
And then Brock Purdy throws that really bad interception.
And I thought Tom Brady did a really nice job of breaking it down.
So what it was, it was a little option route to the left.
But the nickel went back to the half field safety.
It's called a trap coverage.
She called it a Kathy coverage, which everyone's a little bit different.
And what that does, as a quarterback, you're just seeing green grass.
So you're throwing it out, right?
The receiver in the slot, he breaks all the way out.
And everyone at home's like, what does he do?
And he's doing right to him.
Well, that corner did an unbelievable job because he had eyes on the go route.
He passed the go route to the nickel who was going back, and he sat down in the little hole.
And that's what gave the CL Seahawks life.
I mean, Jason Myers had, I think, five or six field goals.
The Seattle, Eddie Panero had a – or sorry, San Francisco had a bunch of field goals.
And then finally, in the fourth quarter, I thought Brock Purdy played exceptional.
And the reason he played exceptional was because of Mike Evans.
Mike Evans, to me, in these one-on-one situations, he looks really, really good.
future Hall of Famer, in my opinion.
And the way Brock Purdy had been playing up to this point, he was the MVP.
I don't think you can look at this game and say he's not the MVP moving forward based on
how he ended up playing.
And I just, I really enjoyed their offense.
Let's get to the defense of San Francisco.
You can't say enough good things about Rahim Morris.
He put together an incredibly good plan, multiple sacks.
I think they had four total takeaways, maybe five.
Drey Greenlaw getting ejected did not help it.
He's one of their best players.
Fred Warner played unbelievable.
But the fact of the matter is, they made that massive, massive play.
Right before the end of the half, Grayson Halton with a massive first half.
He's a defensive tackle, sack, fumble recovery, touchdown.
They strip the running back for Seattle, lay on it, make it, I think it was 217 going
and a half or something like that.
But the second half of the game was nuts.
It's just like two heavyweights going at it.
I mean, these two teams, in my opinion, are the best two teams in the entire NFL.
I mean, you can ask for a more incredible game.
San Francisco put together, they ended up getting it.
And Mike McDonald, for all he had been, like, he was, he's Kyle Shanahan's kryptonite.
Like, Kyle Shanahan, Mike McDonald had the number of Kyle Shanahan.
It was impressive to watch.
I mean, you look at the last.
two games of last year. I know this is the brand new team, but just going back to last year,
last two times that Calais Chanan played Mike McDonald, zero touchdowns, zero offensive
touchdowns, six points in the divisional game, I believe. It was 41-6, got embarrassed. So you know
they had some issues getting past that. So I like what Brock Purdy was able to do. Let's go
to the Seattle side. Just Brian Fleury in this offensive whole setup, it just seems like,
obviously they have a massive running back issue.
Multiple guys hurt.
They traded away or they got rid of Kenneth Walker.
He signed with the Chiefs, obviously, didn't sign him back.
But Sam Darnold, the only person that's open at all is JSN.
And as soon as you take, that's really hard to do because JSN had that sweet little spot route where you went back in,
drooped Fred Warner for a touchdown to take the lead late in the game before Brock Purdy's sort of game-winning drive.
That's the only offense they can get going.
It requires explosive plays.
And other than the big play to JSN, I think it was that 38-yard bomb in the first quarter.
And through the first three-quarters, Seattle was averaging three yards of play.
So Brian Fleury's got to go back to the drawing board.
The defense can't continue to carry you, although the defense is their specialty.
I mean, they're leading in almost every single category for Seattle.
It's just, it's really, really good football.
Seattle's defense sack purdy multiple times, I said, obviously pressured them at 60% rate.
And I like the fact that Purdy was able to get through that.
But when you have a defense like this,
like for Seattle and for San Francisco,
you just know it's going to be a bloody knockout horrible game.
And like I'm not a big defensive guy,
but I enjoyed this.
And somehow, some way it was over 60 points,
which I would have taken the under in this game.
A couple calls, which were really interesting at the end of the game,
I thought when the 49ers were driving,
All right, the 49ers had a horrible intentional grounding call by the refs.
If you remember, I think I'maura had the sack.
Purdy pushed it.
There was a tight in right there.
They ended up calling intentional grounding.
Next play, Mike Evans, the middle field.
Luckily, they got past that.
And then Mike Evans hit that deep ball one-on-one, which was great.
And then Mike McDonald runs to call a timeout to negate a touchdown.
If you guys remember to Brandon Cook's the very next play,
Purdy does his scramble dance, which I think he's got really good at,
scrambles out to the left, throws a touchdown.
I mean, this play was unbelievable,
and I just think he really played well down the stretch.
You're going to see these two teams meet up again
and probably a third time.
I think that these two teams, without a doubt,
are the best two teams in football.
Crazy game.
All right, let's get to probably one of the more entertaining games
of the slate, and it's Philadelphia, Jacksonville.
Jacksonville ends up taking this 19 to 17.
I thought this was supposed to be a home game for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
I mean, that's exactly what Trevor Lawrence said.
The Philadelphia Eagles fans, let me give it to you.
You absolutely travel insane.
Let's just break down this from multiple different angles.
The first angle I want to take is Nick Siriani game management issues once again.
Why are you not kicking the ball through the end zone?
Here's what happened.
The Eagles took the lead with eight seconds left and somehow still,
lost the game. Another all-time mess up by Nick Seriani. So here it is. The Jaguars had no timeouts.
Eight seconds left on the clock. We get a screen grab. We're like in this group text of Bussin.
And you know, Jeremy Klump, producer says, hey, I cannot believe they lost. He's a massive Eagles fan.
I feel bad for him. But it's the second straight week we're questioning Seriani's late game
decisions. Let me let me walk you through this situation because Brian Schott and Armour had this
very similar situation. So if you have the lead with eight seconds left, if the other team has
no timeout, you want to kick it through the end zone and a touchback. Touchback goes back to the 35-yard
line. He instead kicked it off, and Amir Abdullah had a kickoff return to the Eagles 40 to sit up the
game-winning kick by Kim Little, who's an absolute beast. And the Jacksonville Jaggers had a backup
long step, we'll get to that in a second. You can't do that. Kick them, kick it off. Do not let the
return and he he owned it i get that but the eagles should be four and one and they're not like this is a
litmus test year for jalen hertz this is the litmus test year for nixirani for everything that has gone
wrong this game was really ugly in the second half it was a defensive battle it looks really bad
you can't do that now the brian shot number one is a little bit interesting because he did the opposite
he kicked it through the end zone when you had a timeout left so one completion in the middle of field
by Baltimore, which you saw bang a timeout, and that's what happens, and that's sort of
kicked that field goal in the game.
They got it completely mixed up.
I just think the situational awareness, and we're going to get to the Washington Commanders
game, too, because that was absolutely absurd as well.
The situation awareness from Nick Siriani, like, it really does need to be talked about.
And, like, even some of the offensive play calling, and I know he has saying it, along with their
OC, like fourth and one year on the shotgun first half.
Like no push push, and I get what Jason Kelsey was saying.
He has a calf injury.
He has this.
He has that.
Get in the push and get a first down.
Do not be in the shotgun.
The Eagles have an offensive identity problem.
Let's get to the Jaguars, though.
They're sneaky good.
Trevor Lawrence and Parker, Washington.
Time to give them some flowers.
I love the Parker Washington story and how he battled himself.
I believe the Jacksonville Jaguars offered him $25 million on a multi-year deal.
At the beginning of the year, he said, absolutely not.
two massive, massive touchdowns when Trevor Lawrence needs to play.
He goes to Parker Washington.
The fourth down touchdown was money.
It was an inside fate.
I like how Liam Cohn was able to motion to it.
And he ended up hiding Parker Washington split.
So he was in a two-by-two situation.
You had an inside guy tied in right here.
He motioned all the way out.
So Parker Washington is now the number two.
He was the outside guy.
You get him against the corner, which is now on the slot.
He's not used to playing the slot.
Inside release fade.
It's a pretty simple route.
It's a hitch route on the inside, and it's a stick route, which is just an out route on the inside, a hitch route on the outside.
I love the fact that he went for Peter.
Like it was fourth and five, fourth and six.
He said, I'm taking a shot deep, connects with it, like inside fade.
I just think Trevor Lawrence right now is massively underrated.
I think it's time to stop doubting him for all his weird quirks and how many, many head coach has been.
I think Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohn are a really good fit.
This is something I'm really excited about.
And then how about as we're on Parker Washington,
the story of this game was obviously the game mismanaged it,
but also how important special teams is.
There's multiple different ways we just talked about the snafu on the kickoff.
How about Parker Washington when the Eagles are kicking it back?
I actually liked Siriani rushing his punt team on.
I think there was like two minutes and 22 seconds when the,
And when the third down ended, Eagles are having to punt.
I think they have three timeouts or two timeouts.
They're going to punt.
They want the two-minute warning.
They go out there.
They punt.
Parker Washington fields at like 207.
So Syriott and the Eagles have a step up on it.
And what Parker Washington does, he runs to the opposite side of the field.
He loses some yards, runs to the opposite side of the field.
So they can't get that two-minute warning.
And he goes out of bounds at 159.
So the Eagles lost that clock stop.
It's just incredibly heads-up play for what's going on.
And how about the Jacksonville Jowers?
How many snaps were so high?
I was like, I was on a plane up here to Bristol because we're calling the Monday night football
playbook game on Monday on NFL network.
Make sure you tune in if you're watching that.
But how important is a long snapper situation?
Like the position is so incredibly important because Cam Little missed a game time field goal
or a game, I guess, winning potential field goal because the snap was really high.
The snap was really high on the 57, 58-yard that he made with no time left.
He even walked away.
He did the, you know, hey, come get me.
all that stuff, it was absolutely amazing.
But yeah, I love Cam Little, and I love talking special teams.
We don't do it enough.
That's why I think the Jackson and Jaguars are a sneaky, sneaky, good team.
Not even sneaky.
They are a really good team.
The Eagles are, we're going to do trending down later.
They're obviously trending down.
The one thing I liked about the Eagles, I thought Jalen Hertz in the first half played a lot
better on third down.
I like the playing on third down from Sean Mannion.
I thought it was getting the ball out of his football hands.
I thought Jalen Hertz in the first half had a plan for pressure.
Second half, not so much.
Jaguars continually lit him up in the second half,
and he didn't have a pressure plan.
The biggest thing, though, and it was very evident from Snap 1,
Jalen Carter took over the game,
one of the few bright spots for the Eagles.
Two-force fumbles on Trevor Lawrence completely changed the game for him.
He completely changes the entire Eagles defense.
I do think Philly's offense, as we talked about,
getting better, but still brutal,
needs receivers. They're down to like their fistring running back. Jalen Hertz, I want to see you running a lot.
Maybe his calf injuries bugging him a little bit more, but a wild game in London. All right, let's get to a game I thought was going to be better.
The Patriots 45, Las Vegas Raiders, 17. I went on this show last week and I gave the flowers to the Las Vegas Raiders.
I thought Kirk Cousins was playing well. I was hyping up.

It's all over the social media.
And you go up there and you lay an egg,
you lose your last two Chiefs, Patriots.
The story of this game, make no doubt,
about it, Drate May is back.
Well, just listen, just listen.
A tough struggle to the beginning of the year.
But Drake May was 24 of 34, 374 yards,
four touchdowns through the air,
and I believe he had a fit,
I know he had a fifth on the ground.
Four receivers over 50 yards for the Patriots,
and they ended up rushing for 165 yards.
This is the Drake May we've been wanting to see.
Even going back to last week,
when he had that amazing game against Buffalo,
Dude looks like a completely different quarterback the last two weeks.
And I think this is something that you can build off of.
If you're Mike Brable and you're wanting to continue that build,
obviously you're without AJ Brown, need to get him back.
But Pop Douglas played really well.
All these other guys really stepped up.
Just wait until he's back.
I think they're finally finding their identity.
And what did I say?
They rushed for 165 yards.
They gained 536 total yards.
It's the most of Raiders have given up since 2019.
team. I just think he's way more in command. He's seeing the field a lot better. I think there's
better play calling overall. The Patriots are getting into much better rhythm, and I think it's
going to worry some people. That scheduled talk, that soft scheduled talk, or all those mechanic
talks, mechanics talks of, oh, Drake, me's this, Drake, Mays that. Now he's not thinking.
When a quarterback doesn't think and he just gets going, they play a little bit of tempo, that's
when a quarterback is dangerous. Let's talk about the Raiders. Brock Bowers is the only bright spot for
the Raiders. Had over 110 yards receiving again.
Like the Patriots were missing their top 4 dB, so I thought this was going to be a
Kirk Cousins game. Little did you know. Franeda Manoza got his first playing time.
Thought he played well. Still think this is Kurt Cousin's team. But the Patriots, or sorry,
the Raiders looked completely shell-shocked. Like this was a really good team, I thought,
coming into this game. Now they've lost two straight, gone from 3-0 to 3-2. They have the bills
and they have the Rams coming up.
The Patriots did also lose left tackle Will Campbell
and Trayvion Henderson to injuries,
and the Raiders still could not get it done.
I thought it was going to be a little bit of a different story
this year for the Raiders.
It's one of those things where you just got to figure out,
hey, we lost the two really good teams.
We lost to the Chiefs.
We lost to the Patriots.
I say really good.
I think the Chiefs are really good.
The Patriots are getting better.
They're getting hot at the right time.
You've got to figure out what sort of your ideas.
identity of the team is. If the Raiders keep losing, though, the story will absolutely switch to.
Is it time to play Fernando Mendoza? I think that's the biggest thing. Hey, do we want to play Fernando
Mendoza? Do we want it? But I don't think that time is now. I've been really impressed with
the job of Clint Kubiak. But this game was, I had this game pegged early and I was talking to the
bus and guys. I'm like, this is going to be the game of the week. And sure enough, it was an absolute
flop, Patriots end up going 4517.
Let's take a quick break.
We'll be right back.
This football season, whether you're buying tickets, booking travel, or shopping for team
gear, protect your pocket with Visa.
Tapping to pay without checking which card?
Not a pro move.
Tapping to pay with Visa?
That's a pro move.
Visa runs more than 500 security checks to help identify fraud before transactions are approved
so you can focus your defensive strategy on other things.
like defending your executive decision to order pineapple anchovy pizza for the whole watch party,
that might not be a pro move.
But paying with Visa is.
Visa, the most trusted way to pay for football fans everywhere.
All right, let's get to the next game.
On the slate, Broncos 23, Chargers 17.
Hmm.
The story of this game going into it was that Sean Payton took back over play calling from the Broncos.
Didn't feel, to me, like anything changed.
In fact, I believe the Broncos had 224 yards of total offense,
maybe a little bit less because they took some knees.
This last time I got that, what is happening?
Like, 224 yards of total offense,
here's what's happening with this Broncos offense
because I know we have a lot of Broncos fans out there,
and they're wondering.
I don't necessarily think that Davis Webb was the problem.
I think that Bo Nix wasn't seeing it well.
I thought that there's times where there's people open,
his feet get a little bit ahead of them,
just like it was last year in Sean Payton,
and they took a little bit better approach.
It had 23 points,
but it was because Justin Herbert kept turning the football over,
and they got takeaways,
and the run game was really good.
Boenix dude was,
he was 14 of 25 for 112 yards in the touchdowns,
and the running game, they ran for 64 yards.
It's just like, how do you continue to have a good team?
Because I think their defense is good.
I think we massively overrated this Broncos team and what they are.
I still think they're trying to figure out what is happening.
Here's another thing, and I need to dig more in on this.
But I had some inside information on the Broncos.
So when Davis Webb took over play calling this summer,
and Sean Payton knew that and he was okay with it,
Davis Webb changed like 40 to 30 percent of the offense,
meaning the terminology of the offense.
To make it a little bit easier,
It's a very long offense.
I mean, one of the play calls can be like green right slot, Z right, fake 37 Buster Saw,
Naked right, X-Steene, Z-Sphere, alert, alert, 53, Titan Left, on two, or on yellow.
Like, it's just really long.
I don't think it's, it's not outdated, but I think Davis Webb came in and maybe shortened it up.
So instead of that play call, hey, let's run, let's run Titan left, alert, you know, Sting Spear.
And everyone just knows what it is.
I've been along the ride with some of these play callers, and that's sort of how it is.
I was interested in the reason I bring this up I was interested and I did a video of it on social
about how much of the offense actually changed and did Sean Peyton understand I know he knew what it was
but did Sean Payton have a hard time grasping that did he change it back to the players was there
some disconnect because 224 yards is not enough I mean that's that's what I thought the story was
going to be the story now is Herbert like what is
happening with Herbert. Chargers' offense is still completely out of sorts. Maybe it's Justin Herbert.
Maybe it's Mike McDaniel. I don't know. He only threw for 121 yards. The Chargers ran the ball for
140 yards. They're trying to play keep away. Was this a defensive slugfest or was this bad offense?
And I continue to look and I continue to do this. I don't think that Chargers won can't
protect at all, the offensive line like can't protect Herbert at all. He looks like he's completely
seeing ghost out there.
His last interception,
he threw it right to the DB.
And I think it's because he's lost his,
I don't think,
I think it's because he's lost his confidence.
I know it's because he's lost his confidence.
He didn't get back there at the top of his drop and feel like that.
Like I played with him for two years.
He had that swagger.
He had that confidence.
Like right now, the chargers are 0.5.
They're 0.5.
We're throwing this out on this group text and everyone's like,
there's just no way.
People are saying it's mad at some beer.
People say it's this.
I just think it's lost his confidence.
I think it's massive changes are needed in L.A.
I don't know what they are.
I haven't gotten that far.
I'm just reacting to this game.
We couldn't even get a hell Mary off attempt
because he got sacked once again, got sacked five times.
The season is completely over.
Do you look in season now?
That's what's going to be the issue and that's what's going to be the story.
Do you look in season now and do you make some changes?
Do you make some trades?
Adam Schefter of ESPN posted a graphic of all the 0-15 teams.
The Titans are one of them.
We're going to talk about them later.
Chargers are one of them.
I think there's two or three.
The race is on for the number one pick.
And I'm not going to say anything because I don't know what's happening.
But if the Chargers end up the season four and 13 or three and 14,
which anything can happen at this point because their slate just continues to get tougher,
I think they're going to fight back probably won't get the number one pick.
But if they're in the top three picks, you have to have a little bit of an awkward conversation
or an uncomfortable conversation with yourself, if you're the Chargers.
Do we sell high with Justin Herbert?
Do we trade him away?
Do we pick a quarterback in college?
Like a CJ Carr, like a Dante Moore, like an Arch Manning, if he even gets into that first round conversation,
because he hasn't been playing really well,
like a Darien Minsa, like a Drew Mestamaker,
from Oklahoma State and played at North Texas.
Like I can go on and on and on.
I think it's a conversation that you have to start having.
And if you look at Harbaugh's path, he always wins.
Well, what happens if you don't win?
Team sort of tires out on you.
Stuff happens.
I don't think you're going to change head coach and quarterback
because just two years ago or three years ago
It was like all the toast.
And this year it was like, you know, it was going to make Justin Herbert better.
It's gotten a lot worse.
And so the Chargers absolutely need to figure that out.
Two just perplexing teams.
The Chiefs look to have a stranglehold in the AFC West.
Let's get to the last game on the docket that we're talking about today.
Oh, my gosh, I'm a huge Bears fan.
And I got a lot of Bears people out there that follow socials.
Bears score seven points.
Packers score 31.
Let's start with the Packers, though, before you get into anything,
because don't write the Packers off just yet.
This was Jordan Love's best game of the season, 25 of 31,
almost 370 yards, two total touchdowns.
How about this?
I couldn't believe this.
When Mitch put this in the rundown, producer Mitch,
he said, most passing yards for a Green Bay quarterback against the Bears all time.
You tell me, Aaron Rogers didn't have more than 300.
67 passing yards against the Bears.
I mean, that's how embarrassing this was.
We were touting the Bears as the next big thing.
They went while the quarterbacks.
We'll get to the offense in a second.
But this is what the Packers' offense needs to be.
This is a little floor-style offense.
They ran for a bunch of yards.
How about Matthew Golden?
Christian Watson, each had six catches,
each had over 120 receiving yards.
Christian Watson had six for 143 and two touchdowns.
The story of the game, though,
is Jordan Love.
Like, I'm doing my top six quarterbacks,
and I'm really thinking about putting Jordan Love at number one.
They look legit in the run game in the first half,
but Jordan Love, I believe, at one point in the game,
and I didn't get final stats on this,
so don't hold me to it, but I know it's at least this,
which is crazy.
Jordan Love, six for eight passing for over 250 yards
on throws of 20 plus air yards.
This was a throw the football down the field game,
over and over. That's right. Six for eight for over 250 yards, 20 plus air yards. It's the best
deep throwing game he's ever had. I mean, it was just shot after shot after shot.
The Bears turned the football over four times. You can't win like that. But this is,
if this is a sneakly good up and coming, and I know the Vikings are 5 and O and they're the
NFC North, lions are rolling too. I mean, this is a very competitive NFC North division.
I like the Packers, man.
They started really, really bad.
Xavier McKinney had two interceptions,
but the way this Packers' offense looks,
if it continues to trend up,
just got to get Michael Parsons back.
They could be really dangerous.
Let's go to the bear side of things.
I don't know what you want me to do.
A horrible start for the Bears.
Look completely dead on the road.
I thought this was going to be a game.
It was a gutsy drive of the Bears on their third drive
and the final one of the half.
First of all, you know it's ball control
when you only get three drives.
in the first half. The Packers were just holding on to the football.
They went forward on forcing goal, which I thought was the right move,
and they ran it, which was interesting.
They got a TD, made it 14 to 7.
Second half, Jordan Love just completely took over.
But here's the thing.
The Bears' defense, you don't have three starters.
Dennis Allen's defense, you got exposed over the top,
some secondary guys. Tyson-Basient really struggled with play action.
That's the whole thing.
Case Keenham came in.
in case Keenham through an interception, I just think it's time to get to get Caleb Williams back.
I'm not sure why they didn't throw the football down the field some more,
but it is officially time to get Caleb Williams back.
All right, that is it for the A block.
That is it for the game situation.
We got one of our favorite seconds.
We got a lot of feedback on this.
Who's trending up?
Who's trending down?
I enjoy it.
And this block is pretty simple.
It's not super long.
We're going to go through three teams, coaches or players who are turning up.
three teams coaches or players who are trending down you know it we just talked about him
jordan love jordan love 2531 367 yards two touchdowns his deep ball looked unbelievable today
um and only russell wilson i have a stat here i want to read this only russell wilson
who had 264 yards on throws over 20 plus air yards has recorded more deep passing yards in a game
in the next gen stats here this is a one
one of a kind. So I was right. Six of eight. Mitch put it in there. I didn't even see
us. I was right. Six of eight on deep passes of 20 plus air yards or more. Career high,
2508 yards. I was off. I was off eight yards. Like I said, this is this is a team who can get
sneaky good, dude. You look at their schedule. You look what's happening. You get hot at the right
time. Not a lot of people were talking about them. I just think there's a little bit of effort.
And Jordan loved this game. Like he was playing with swagger. He's playing with confidence. His
offensive line, they threw shots on the field.
Look, when you have these shots called, like you have 10 to 12 of these shot plays on a call
sheet.
So when a coach is looking at the call sheet, I'm like, let's call all of them because if not,
I'll check it down.
And usually you check 50% of them down.
He said, I'm throwing all these things.
I'm throwing eight out of 12 downtown.
So this is good.
He's trending, like, way up.
All right.
Let's go to a team we haven't talked about today, the Minnesota Vikings, Kyle
Murray and the defense. And that's why we put our guy, Kevin O'Connell, on the screen, because all three of
these guys are completely trending up. I was...

Really impressed with their game down in New Orleans.
They just keep finding ways to win games,
and that is super important.
If you can just stack wins,
do I think they're the best overall team in the NFC?
Probably not,
but their defense, I think, is the best unit in all of football.
There's no doubt about it.
If you look at Kyla Murray, the last six quarters,
so two quarters of last game and this Saints game,
dude's playing unbelievable.
Like I truly believe that.
If stuff's not there, he's playing on time and rhythm.
He's scrambling around.
He's getting to checkdowns.
He's doing all these things that you need to do.
He was 24 or 30 today for almost 230 yards.
A touchdown.
No interceptions, but he had 10 rushes for 51 yards.
Byron Murphy Jr., two interceptions.
You already got three on the season.
Andrew Van Ginkle, I mean, their defense is so loaded.
One sack, two TFLs, a quarterback hit.
The Saints who, God bless them.
I love them.
I want a Super Bowl with them, but they had 142 total yards versus Minnesota defense,
and they had nine first downs.
Minnesota had 18.
When you go against the defense like Brian Flores, you've got to be ready.
You got to have a quick game going.
They put you in such a scheme disadvantage by the way they are going eight up.
They're going seven up.
Are they blitzing, are they not?
And all of a sudden, you think there's eight up and they're dropping eight and you're throwing
stuff right into them.
Teams are going to have to really, really figure out the best way to go about
figuring them out and i think it's just like someone's going to have to do it someone's going to
have to beat them but they've been the best unit in football without it out let's say let's get to number
three we haven't talked about this guy this guy aging like fine wide that's right fine wine
erin freaking rogers erin rogers 22 of 31 235 yards three touchdowns how about this
mr consistent three touchdowns in each of the last three games they are a pass first offense
But Jalen Warren, to me, is absolutely bawling.
He's completed 71% of his passes against the Colts, 125.1 passer rating.
More importantly, on the money downs, two for two on Fort Down, two for two in the red zone.
So, like, he needs it.
Colts gave him all they wanted.
I love the fact that they're spreading the football round.
This is a true Mike McCarthy, Aaron Rogers.
I believe they were on trending down last week because of the comment, that, you know, the A-hole comment.
We don't really want to cuss on the show.
But the A-hole comment that McCarthy set on the sideline when Aaron Rogers was saying,
get it in, get it in, get it in, get it in.
Steelers, offensively, at one point, VK. Metcalf was the leading rusher.
I think that's something that needs to be fixed.
I think they have to run the football, but you're seeing not just shotgun,
you're seeing some under center.
You're seeing Aaron Rogers, which he hates, turn his back to the defense.
The football down the field, I think Jaylen Warren is having a career year right now.
and they got a lot of weapons.
I really enjoy their young core defensively,
not as strong as they have been,
but if they can figure out that defense,
this is once again going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers team,
regardless of who the head coach is,
Mike Tomler or not.
That's going to get to the playoffs,
probably lose in the first round like we're seeing.
I don't think they've won a playoff game since 2016.
All right, a lot of people's favorite part of the show.
Probably not Bustin because Bustin has a lot of Nashville ties,
obviously being from Nashville,
Tennessee Titans. What are we doing? What are we doing? Titans look really bad. Cam Ward has not
look good at all. How real is it? This is how bad it is. How real is it that I'm starting to think
that they may go 0 and 17? Or even worse, what Salas said he's not going to do. Could you bench Cam Ward?
It's a true. It absolutely makes sense to me. Like who are you going to play?
I don't know. I don't know.
I mean, at some point you need to spark.
Look at Cammore's stats through the five games.
I hate reading stats, but we're going to do it.
All of them losses.
63% completion percentage.
Ah, okay.
Five games, he hasn't thrown for 900 passing yards.
He has three passing touchdowns.
He has three interceptions.
He has a 77.2 passer rating and two rushing touchdowns.
The dude has three passing touchdowns in five games.
when I watch this offense from Brian Dayball,
it doesn't look like they're connected.
It doesn't look like they're on the same page.
And it's not just Cam Ward.
It's everyone.
They lost to the Texans today, 26 to 3.
They're the worst team in football.
I hate to say it.
But they absolutely are.
I don't want to continue to put them on trending down
because there's other teams that deserve it,
but they are trending way down.
All right.
This is this next one.
the Washington commanders
did you see the ending of the game
well if you didn't
let me break it down for you
and I'm going to do a film breakdown as well
on my channel
because Jaden Daniels led commanders
which I thought I had Jaden Daniels on trending up
this entire game we had him on trending up
he was going to take Aaron Roder's spot in trending up
because he was playing really well
he ran for a bunch of yards I think he had 2 25 yard
rushing touchout or something crazy like that that was the first time had a massive arm brace on
and then you go and make probably one of the dumbest mistakes and here's the thing i don't even blame
it on you i blame it on the offense and the fact that nobody knew what was happening here's a
situation there's about 45 seconds they're playing in a really close game against the giants
interdivision rival they're at like the 30-ish yard line there's 45 seconds the play called
takes forever to come in.
So it's just tick, tick, tick, tick.
They have zero timeouts left.
Tick, tick, tick.
They don't break the huddle till 20 seconds.
Tick, tick, tick.
They're in 13 personnel.
They motion.
And what I thought the play was, I need to go back
and triple check.
I've watched it a few times.
I think it was K5, Y Banana, where it's play action left.
It's like that John Gruden skip.
They have a tied in in the flat and a tight end in the corner.
And for whatever reason,
James runs around and runs through the line of scrimmage and just goes down.
And then all 11 guys just stand there.
There is zero awareness from anyone on the field.
No one.
And then finally people start yelling from the sideline like, what do you do?
What are you doing? What are you doing?
And they go up there and they try to spike the football.
There's finally some, hey, we got to go.
We got to go.
Zero seconds.
They ended in a tie.
the tie is like what like this is probably one of the worst losses i've seen in a long time it's
poor decision on his part the coaches might be wrong but as a quarterback ultimately you have to know
the situation you can't be in la la land out there this is going to come back to haunt them i mean this
should easily be going to win and i'm saying that because the ticker probably makes the field goal
but like what are we doing i mean even magic johnson in a magic johnson way he tweeted out
who's a minority owner of the commanders, by the way.
He tweeted out criticizing the situation and awareness at the game.
He's like, our quarterback should have known better.
No kidding.
He should have known better.
This might be the worst turning down of all time.
All right, let's get to the last one.
I know that played on Thursday.
And Kit Garrison, who's from Dallas, who helps to produce this show.
He's a Cowboys fan.
And boy, oh boy, they lost to the 0. and 4 bucks at home 2416 on a short week
to an undrafted backup quarterback named.
Jaylon Daniels from Kansas.
And I'm a big Jaylon Danos fan, truly.
Like, it is bad.
If you can't get it done on a short week at home
versus depleted bucks secondary
with a back-up quarterback
who's undrafted as a rookie starting,
I don't know what to tell you.
Dallas defense on the season.
Two total takeaways, no interceptions.
There is no interception.
Christian Parker, you were brought in to do this.
the players supposedly gotten better.
Is it the scheme is that the players, I think it's a little bit of both.
Dallas's defense is 31st in total average yards per game.
Not as bad as the Lions.
I just saw Lions are giving up 423 total yards.
The Cowboys are given up just a hair under 400.
Dallas's defense is 32nd and rushing yards allowed 168 a game.
Dallas hasn't won two games in a row.
I think this defense somehow, some way, is worse than last years.
And we know how we felt about last year.
last year's defense.
Oh, man.
All right, that does it for trending up and trending down.
All right, let's get to good ball, bad ball.
My good ball winner, we already talked about him,
but Drake May, a second award ever given out.
Good ball winner, 24, 34, 375 yards, four touchdowns.
Last two games, though, this is the thing.
We talked about eight-tilled touchdowns, only one interception.
Totally silenced the critics.
Silence me, too, because I'm like, what is happening?
Patriots are looking this past two games,
really past six quarters like they did last year.
Huge win against Buffalo last week.
Big win against actually pretty decent Raiders
when that's this week.
So good ball award.
Trent May,
bad ball award winner,
or you can call them loser or you can call him winner.
The Bears QBs not named Caleb Williams.
What are we doing?
Come on.
We got Caleb Williams needing to come back.
Tyson, Bejant, Case Keenham.
Bejant went 11 of 19, 108 yards,
and interception.
Case Keatim, 12-21 87 yards,
two interceptions and a fumble loss.
Both sack twice.
And it's just, when you get that,
it's a very hard situation for Keenham.
I thought Bejit played well last year.
Can we please,
can we please get Caleb Williams back
because the Bears are a completely different team
with Caleb Williams.
Bad ball award goes there.
All right.
Last part, and then we're going to get out of here.
Let's hit the two-minute drill.
Ready to go.
Brown's lost on the last drive
due to a Deshawn.
Watson fumble. The Jets are playing teams hard once again have proven they are not easy out.
I thought the Sean Watson was a really good story. I think he was untrending up. Maybe he was a good
ball award winner last week. Not great. Marvin Harris Jr. How about that? Officially traded to
the Texans. Trade involves Marvin, a 2027 seventh round in exchange for a 2027 second round pick.
Can you believe that they got Marvin Harrison for a 27 second round pick? Renewed with his college
quarterback CJ Stroud. They need some help.
It's going to be interesting to see if they can play quickly together.
Nobody wanted to win the Giants Commanders game for the longest time.
Cam Scadaboo fumbled in field goal range, and we saw the massive ending on that.
That was awful.
Jamir Gibbs now has the record for those touchdowns before turning 25.
With 58 touchdowns, he just took it over from Barry Sanders, who had 57.
How about Jared Gough?
He's going to be in my top six quarterbacks.
The person we haven't talked about either in this game, Joe Burrell, going on the road,
four touchdown passes as well.
That is a two minute drill.
That does it for week five of the first read.
Thank you so much for liking.
Thank you so much for subscribing.
Make sure you comment.
We will comment back.
We will see you back here on Sunday for week six.
