Bussin' With The Boys - Brock Purdy On 49ers ROUGH '24 Season, Going From NFL Draft's Mr. Irrelevant To Niners QB | Bussin'

Episode Date: July 8, 2025

Recorded: June 26th 2025 |  In this episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, the guys kick things off with a classic high-energy intro before diving into a full recap of their 4th of July weekend,... packed with laughs and stories. The conversation then takes a wild turn with talk about the UFC potentially heading to the White House, followed by early thoughts and hype around the newly announced EA Sports College Football 26 video game. Josh Pate makes it clear he’s fully on board the Nebraska train, while the boys dub Notre Dame “Legacy U” and stir up a spirited debate between Cam Newton and Jalen Hurts. Then, the main event begins as 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy joins the pod. He shares his journey from being recruited to Iowa State to his unforgettable NFL Draft experience. The boys officially declare October as “Brocktober” while Brock reflects on his rookie year in San Francisco, including his legendary bond with Trent Williams—who he hilariously refers to as his “binkie.” He opens up about taking over the Niners starting job from Trey Lance, undergoing Tommy John surgery, and the emotional rollercoaster of the NFC Championship game. Brock also discusses what it was like to lose Deebo Samuel mid-season, reacts to an “anonymous” quote from Taylor saying he's not the guy, and gives a behind-the-scenes look at Super Bowl week. The conversation closes with a look back at the struggles of last season and what he expects from this upcoming year with the Niners roster full of Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Nick Bosa under head coach Kyle Shanahan. As always, the biggest of hugs and the most tiny kisses. Enjoy! Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, it's us The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:00:10 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. A MAGA podcast where we talk about Jurassic World Rebirth reviews. We got college football 26 dropping this week.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Happy college football 26 drop week. We're going to talk, you know, Sherman Jill. They just had their baby. We got first pitches. We got UFC potentially happen in the next 4th of July. We got a lot of things to talk about on this apparent MAGA podcast. But welcome to bust with the boys. How was 4th of July weekend?
Starting point is 00:05:36 It was great. It was great. I feel like we're making America great again. So we had Jack and Garrett. They traveled international. They went to Greece. They went to Italy. We'll talk about that.
Starting point is 00:05:47 You know, JP, he went to South Carolina. Your boy went to Bontar, Missouri. Hell of a car ride on the way down to Missouri. Hell of a car ride. We had two kiddos getting over. Some sickness is about a five, five and a half hour drive. And I shit you not. At least, this is a conservative number, at least three and a half hours, one of them were screaming.
Starting point is 00:06:10 One of them was screaming. Scottie, she's a seven-month-old. She was a lot of the time. Rue just started to get upset. She's yelling at Skyeye, that hurts my ears. roos screaming how many songs were played over the course of five hours
Starting point is 00:06:25 maybe five songs maybe I was going to say three five you know your boy what help gets Scotty to quiet down is twinkle twinkle little star so I am the twinkle twinkle little star artist just on absolute repeat like the entire time or just
Starting point is 00:06:41 I'm working on my breathing just going shh yeah yeah Charlie hit it when I'm taking a breath then I try to time it up when she's taking a breath as we're trying to get her to sleep. It was it was diabolical on the on the car right to Missouri. However, the trip to Missouri was awesome. Did not win the cornhole tournament. Hung out a lot of good friends. The guy with the dart with the guy with what? No, he lost. He was with a he had a tough partner. He had a tough partner. But he was a ringer, bro. But he's got the little
Starting point is 00:07:14 cigarette just popping in every time while he's throwing. And he's like, he's hitting holes left and Right, like you're playing the 21. I know in his first game, he hit every hole except for about five. Like, he's just, like, automatic. But shout out to Dylan and Chuck. Dylan and Chuck. They won the Cornhole tournament. We got balanced myself in Adam Proydell, the gentleman who was taking us around at the St. Louis Cardinals game.
Starting point is 00:07:41 And he's won four years in a row. So him, us partnering up, I've won with him before. We thought we were going to sweep the entire board. We got balancing double elimination. We went, I think, one and two in the tournament. We went one and two in the tournament. Some tough teams, tough teams out there. The first, so when we got there on Thursday,
Starting point is 00:07:59 we went over to my brother, his girlfriend, her family has like this massive party to where they just start off like family and friends, and then by the time it gets dark, we didn't get to stay for the fireworks because you got to get the kids down. It's like 9, 9.9.30 when the fireworks are going off. but they spend about $6,500 on fireworks, a fireworks show.
Starting point is 00:08:23 You're in this yard. They got a lot of acres that you're in this yard. They got all the big dogs just setting up all over the yard. Dudes, like, certified and licensed to do the lighting the fireworks. And Cody was telling me that any given year, there'll be hundreds of people just parked on the side of the road, just sitting and watching their show because their show's like better than the, better than Farmington show, better than Bontair. anybody who has a fireworks show going on for the city or for the town, like, it's better than all.
Starting point is 00:08:49 He's like, it's so good, it starts to get boring. But that's how serious they take their fireworks in Missouri. If there's one thing that Missouri takes serious, it's fireworks. I mean, a stand on every corner, buy three, get one free, buy one, get four free, just every deal that you can possibly imagine. Jerry's fireworks is a building that sits there, you know, when you're driving down the highway, you always know that Jerry's fireworks is sitting there because it's only open for like a couple weeks out of of the year and it sits there all year round and it's just Missouri does fireworks Missouri does fireworks July 4th has to be the biggest BDE for dad's holiday of the year bro because it's
Starting point is 00:09:29 it's the one time like I I saw somebody hating on the 4th of July horrible saying that uh you can make you can make burgers every weekend you can do you can have these like summer outings every weekend but it's not it's not the same like fourth of july you have the time off you have the weekend set you have the intention behind it you have people bringing in dishes you have everything is going on there's a water slide happening where we're at you got the water slides you got the snap the poppers going off for the little kids in the in the uh when it's light out kids firing off bottle rockets everywhere but it's so intentional and i agree with you i think it's the best day for fathers throughout the year.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Throughout the year. What, for we getting into Greece in Italy, J.P., how was your, how was your Fourth of July weekend? Fourth of July weekend was good. We were in the water with a lot of, sitting has a lot of cousins
Starting point is 00:10:22 and nieces and nephews. So we're in there, playing around, splashing around, which is fun. They do, fireworks on the beach is awesome because you get to see down the whole entire thing.
Starting point is 00:10:34 So we're in Litchfield. You can almost see to Myrtle Beach. You look left, You have all the fireworks you need. That's awesome. A lot of really good barbecue in South Carolina, obviously. So the food was hitting. There's a pool that kind of backs up to the beach, which is always nice because the kids
Starting point is 00:10:50 are always going back and forth. Yeah. And then we went to Charleston the next day because hopefully they posted it. But my brother got engaged to his girlfriend. They both went to college to Charleston. They live in Naples, Florida right now. So we were all there. I got to see my whole family, both my brothers, my mom.
Starting point is 00:11:08 dad in charleston if if people haven't been to charleston like charleston's one of the best cities in the country it's a really good city right i don't say it lightly you don't have to anymore because we went out there for your wedding like you just get to see the the farmer's market that goes on on the weekend the downtown area is amazing yeah the beaches too like i that's what florida doesn't have that like the carolinas do have is just the big beaches with tons of like sand area yeah and we're just walking on Sullivan's Island and I'm like, man, this is. I bet it's beautiful too because like we were saying at this cute little Airbnb in Farmington.
Starting point is 00:11:45 So when we went back and Rue's still awake like when it is dark out, so you can see some fireworks like over the trees and stuff like that. So you're kind of just sitting there and enjoying the night. But I can only imagine that it's just probably gorgeous when it's dark out. The heat and the humidity is kind of calm down. You're kind of feeling a little bit of that air. You're just sitting on the beach. You're looking left.
Starting point is 00:12:03 You're looking right. Fireworks going off everywhere. Kids are hype. Kids are hype. Parents are finally in that moment to where the day is done. You're kind of just talking about pretty much gratitude, like it fired up that everybody's gotten in the same place. You're just watching the fireworks go.
Starting point is 00:12:17 You're celebrating America, the greatest country on earth. You know the kids are going to sleep good. Yeah. Because they played all day and they're like fighting for their lives to stay awake. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the parents are happy. They're like, oh, we're about to have a good night's sleep. Everyone wins on the fourth.
Starting point is 00:12:32 How is the parade? The parade is the ultimate, like, uh, Try that in a small town parade. You just got people like that. The boat just kind of that's actually a car. There was like a produce stand that was a boat that was going. Kids are in like the back of truck spraying water guns at people. A small beach town, 4th of July parade has to be top parade in the country.
Starting point is 00:12:58 How many, how many dads are making comments during that parade being like, it's a hot one out of here today. Well, there's all contests so you can win Best Flo. you can win best house decoration. Sittance, aunt and uncle have won, or I guess her cousin. They've won best house like five years in a row. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, dynasty.
Starting point is 00:13:18 So it was great. Shirm, you had an eventful weekend. Don't say to, you know, say it a little bit. Sherman Young, he's officially a father, part of Papa Team Six. A lot of the story will drop on For the Dads, which will come out. You're listening to this right now on Tuesday for the Dad's drops on Wednesday. But Shirm, congratulations, bro. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:13:38 It seemed like it was a nice, smooth, celebratory birth. Yes, very smooth, very celebratory. I got to give credit where credits do. Jilly Bean crushed it. I was in awe the entire time. And I'm not saying that to score points. It's just like you see the whole process and you're sitting there and you're like, yo, my wife's a beast.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Like this is crazy. Didn't see any fireworks, but we got our own little firecracker. We got Scarlet in the world. I think that is my first official Fourth of July where I did not see a firework, which is kind of crazy thinking back on it. But it was so much fun, dude. And it's just going to make Fourth of July next year that much more fun that her birthday is July 3rd. So we're going to celebrate, have a party for, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:14:27 And then very next day, what is that? Fourth of July. Let's go. Honestly, a huge, like if your birthday is on Fourth of July, kind of similar to how you're being. a birthday on Christmas, not as much like, ah, man, my birthday is like, because I feel like if you're on Christmas, that's different. Fourth of July, everyone's party and having a good time. But if you got the third of July birthday, you get to enjoy your birthday and then there's always the follow-up day. Because Fourth of July is just a massive celebration where it's in Christmas with J.P. Battle on
Starting point is 00:14:55 Christmas, like everyone's getting gifts. And you're thinking about everybody else is getting thought of when it's your birthday. Everybody's intentionally getting thought of, you know, in all the best ways, but it's not like everyone's stepping out in the sun, a weekend set aside to just celebrate. And if it happens to be your birthday, it's like even that it's that much better of a celebration. And like a third of the July, Matt, if it was the 5th of July, that's almost even more of a bummer because everyone's tuckered out. You're tired. It's like, we've been in the sun all weekend.
Starting point is 00:15:25 We've been drinking. Like, let's just chill and watch movies today. And if Jack's like, oh, it's Jack's birthday, you're like, dude, happy birthday. We're also celebrating Jack's birthday. Everybody's like, yeah. It's like, J.P. almost like a second thought. It's like, oh, it's your birthday. It's like, hey, happy birthday, man. What did you get for Christmas? Then he's got to answer the question. Doesn't suck that you share
Starting point is 00:15:42 Christmas with your birthday. You don't get as many presents. And he just, it's the same thing all the time. JP, happy early birthday, dude. Happy early birthday. This is pretty well said. Yeah, dude. And to that point, I do want to make it like a yearly tradition that to kick off the 4th of July, we do the scarlet birthday fireworks show. So I'll, I'll make it my mission that every single year she has her own fireworks show on the third that night to kind of like kick off the festivities of the fourth. Love that. So I hope to keep that tradition alive. Mitch, you got to see, I mean, arguably.
Starting point is 00:16:20 My goat. Your goat. You're king. Your lord. We up. Steve. Yeah. So I need to, I'd be remiss if I didn't shout out Cam.
Starting point is 00:16:28 He hooked everything up. He's the art director over there at SR. He like, Stevenson Ranch for those I'm familiar. Makes all the merch. I'm wearing it all right now. But yeah, I got to see Mike finally.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I had one of my buddies, Andy and his fiancee Liz, come down for it. He's the one that actually put me on to Mike. But yeah, it was, we had like great seats. He's literally right there.
Starting point is 00:16:53 And it's like, wow. I mean, this is really. When he walked on stage, what was the feeling? Like, oh my God, here we go. Were you eyes closed for a lot of it, just like in your feels, just vibe in or like, what are you? No, I was, I was like, I was eyes open.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Hard open, eyes open. Yeah, yeah, I was just. Take me my. I was, no, I was. I was, I was, I was enjoying it. Isn't it crazy that we're here right now? Mitch was out of worship service. Yeah, I was just there like singing every song that I knew the words to.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Yeah, damn near everyone. And then he did like. How many layups did you hit? during when he said genobly every time every time with the left but like he it was like I was telling people it's not like he's not a concert where it's like oh like you're raging and stuff the entire time it's more of like a chill concert but he does a really good job at like integrating the crowd I maybe said hey how are you 75 times and then like he hey how are you 75 times scored 86 points on layoffs yeah yeah and then like he like goes out into the crowd and he he's
Starting point is 00:18:02 He was honestly from me to you away. I'm like, yo, this is insane, dude. And- Were your hand out where you're trying to touch him? No, I, I, he was too far away to do that. And like I was in, I didn't want to be like that guy because I was with like all of like the other like people that were not that, like, I don't know how to describe it.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Like it was like- You've been behind the curtain. So you're not, you're not trying to rip it open, you know. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just trying to enjoy it. I'm just trying to sing every song. Be like, dude, this is sick.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Like- Yeah, just live in the moment. I took maybe, I took maybe like four or five videos, but like the rest of it, I'm like, I just want to be here, be present, be in the moment. Yeah, right, yeah. Live on the mountain. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Enjoy that mountain. How does the, hey, how are you work? Like, he's like, he's like, guys, this one, this one's for you. Let me get a big fucking, hey, how are you? And then he just, everything gets quiet. It's like the entire crowd's like, hey, how are you? And it's like, this is awesome. This is awesome.
Starting point is 00:19:01 But yeah, shout out Cam. He designs all their merch, actually. I have something for Taylor. But he's not here. He designed this guy. And they were, like, damn near everybody was wearing this one. It was super cool just to see all like the 77s and everything out there. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:19:19 And they called it the polygraph because I guess, I don't know if Taylor failed the polygraph or something. Taylor took a polygraph test whenever the PED thing happened. Yeah. So I, he like texted. They call the shirt the polygraph? Yeah, this shirt is literally called the polygraph. He texted me and was like, it was either like Osterine, which I think is the drug that he failed for or the polygraph. And I texted Taylor.
Starting point is 00:19:40 I was like, are you cool with this? And then he never responded. So he's out in Canada. I know, but like. He's out in the mountains. I know he was kind of remote like off the reservation for like four days before he ended up getting back to one of my messages too. Okay. But yeah, it was, it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Everybody there. All the dudes look like Mike. We all got the beards, like the shave sides and everything. And like, you're just thinking, man, I got to get right. No, I don't want that. I don't want that. But it was just like literally like a Steve heaven. Aaron Roger, like we walked in, Aaron Rogers and Mike were like on the stage doing like their live podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Fow got his hat signed by Aaron Rogers. Have we fixed things with Fow? Are you all good? Oh, yeah. That was a big, yeah. So Mitch was very upset with Fowl because Fowl said he would help move a friend of theirs. This was on last week's episode, big moment of the episode. social.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Maga. Maga moment. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Maga moment. And Mitch was really upset with Fowl. It was like his pet peeve of the week. And I was talking about how Fowl committed to help moving their friend. And then the day comes and he's a no-show. And this whole falling out was kind of happening.
Starting point is 00:20:50 And Mitch was talking about how pissed off he was. And he still hadn't talked to Fowl. So we made Mitch, we had Mitch FaceTime Fowl. Fowle answers on the pod. And it's about as filly as he can get. Yeah. And they were, you know, there was some friction there. We talked about it once I got home and everything was straight.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Mitch got off the bus. It was like, yeah, we're going to talk when we get on. No, I was, I was hot. I was really pissed. I know the listeners and you guys already know this, but for me and Garrett, I guess, why did he not show up? What was the obligation? He's scheduled an apartment tour, which takes 20 minutes and I was there for four hours helping this, helping our friend move. And fell, had an apartment tour, which takes half hour.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Tops and then just never showed up. Didn't he do a couple? Just to defend foul. Didn't he do a couple tours? Because he has to look to move. He said he did two. And he said some stuff popped up. And Mitch was like,
Starting point is 00:21:41 that's bullshit. Like, I know foul. I live with him. Like stuff pops up means he's just at home watching TV. He's just benching a video game. Playing video games. First time in a decade.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Yeah. Because I'm moving. It's like how it makes you attention. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So we're all good now. It's all good. But he's Fow's a Steve now.
Starting point is 00:22:01 He's got all of his merch now. Somebody does. Yeah, it just brings everybody together. But yeah, shout out Cam. Shout out Mike. Shout out foul. I'm a Steve for life. Only Mike could fix that.
Starting point is 00:22:15 I honestly think there was a point where I was just like, just when Rodman came on, I'm like, PCH drive. And I needed some is fire. Key Street? Did he play that one? He played Pee Street. I sent a Snapchat to you guys. I have probably have like a few months worth.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I sent the, uh, the lyric of what I thought it was. She went to lick on my P Street, but it was, it's obviously not the lyric. But I just thought it was just kind of like our little joke. But yeah, it was, it was awesome. You didn't get to your Snapchat because you guys were living the dream. You guys were out in Greece. Gary, you popped over to Italy. Jack, you spent, what, two weeks in Greece?
Starting point is 00:22:51 Yeah, two weeks. And Gary, you were a week in Greece and then a week in other spots? A week in Greece and then like three days in Italy. I had to get back for the fourth, you know, I had to get 10 toes. So you were here for the four. Oh, yeah, I had to get 10 toes on American soil. I, you know, I, yeah. I personally, I couldn't imagine not celebrating America on the 4th of July in America.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Yeah. Since you have a backyard. Yeah. New homeowner, everything this country. Look, it hurt me. It was my first 4th of July and my 30 years on earth that I spent out of the country. You're out of the country, Taylor's in Canada. Well, I mean, Taylor's Canadian.
Starting point is 00:23:28 That is cool. And I take full responsibility. I like to apologize to all of our veterans, all of our service members, the country, the children, the politicians, the MAGA community. But I know confidently that I will never spend the Fourth of July outside the United States ever again. I did. I tried to do a little retroactive celebration and I hung up my American flag in my backyard, which felt good. it's not going to get me off the hook at all, but it felt good to even though,
Starting point is 00:24:01 because to me, and this this rings true to a lot of people. It's not just me, but the 4th of July, yes, we're going to celebrate America. We're going to celebrate our independence and everything,
Starting point is 00:24:11 the people who fought for our country and the reason why. But I don't stop celebrating this country on the 5th of July. I continue to celebrate 365 fucking days a year because I love this country. I will say Greece is beautiful. Greece is beautiful, but man, America, just being able to go get on tap, double cheeseburgers, milkshakes, fries at every corner, just diabetes flowing everywhere.
Starting point is 00:24:37 And I can say that because that's my culture. But man, yeah, Greece was amazing. The people there, the culture, the food, they're just so hospitable. It truly was like it felt like a once in a lifetime trip. Just being able to experience like new people and new views. and yeah, it's, I can't really speak highly of, of Greece more than I am right now. And the architecture. The architecture.
Starting point is 00:25:02 I haven't been to Greece, but just it's, like, when it's, it's insane. Well, the, I think the special part about being in Greece was we were there for a wedding where we know the bride and the groom. And so there's a ton of our friends there on this island that is so far away from home to where you're like, oh, we're out here. But I wake up every day and I see 30 people I know. very closely and it's it was a cool moment like I don't know this island you guys's photos were all time that one that you just um but the one that you just had up shirms of their pool right there like on the cliff dude yeah that's in santerini so uh we me and the other guys after the wedding we were in the island of spestis where the wedding was and afterwards
Starting point is 00:25:50 everyone kind of went off did their own thing garrett went to italy a couple other people went to italy me and two of my buddies, we had zero plan. All the thing we had was our flights booked there and our hotel for the wedding week. After that, we were just like, we're just going to try and figure it out. We initially were going to go from Spetsis. You have to take a ferry back to Athens
Starting point is 00:26:10 and then a ferry from Athens wherever. We were going to go to Mekinos because we're like three single guys and everyone's like, it's the party island. You should see it. And then some people are like, you shouldn't. It's overrated. And then our ferry, the winds there this time of year are intense. It'll get up and be like 50 mile hour winds consistently and you won't see one cloud in
Starting point is 00:26:29 the sky. But it will be ripping to where like your hats flying off. You get food. You know, your fries are flying everywhere. But our ferry got canceled from Athens to mechinos. So, yeah, you literally just can't travel on the boat for a fear or, you know, of it. Safety. Yeah, turning over and you drown, which I would never drown, but that's a different story. But we went to Santerini. The views are beautiful. I mean, there's just every view you think it's going to be like, that's the view of the trip. And then you turn a corner and you're like, wow, like God is good and real. So it was cool, man. Just getting it like Garrett said to experience the trip with like not only like a few of your close friends,
Starting point is 00:27:10 but like 20 of them. And then the island where the wedding was, there's no public cars. The only cars that are on the island are service cars. So there's like five total taxis. And then there's like a couple small trucks that deliver stuff. So everyone's riding mopeds and ATVs everywhere. And so to just like hop on your moped and just fly around. Yeah, the island's really small.
Starting point is 00:27:30 You could drive the whole island on a moped in an hour and a half. So like we would just do that and you just hit beach after beach after beach. And yeah, it's just you feel super grateful at the end of it. I didn't really expect Greece. I mean, obviously there are parts of Greece that look the way they do Athens specifically. But this island felt super tropical vibes. and they had a big like boat port like that was like their thing on the island is like they're like boat people and so yeah you're riding around going to all these beaches and you're like wait this
Starting point is 00:28:00 is grease like this is grease the water's blue as shit like it is it's beautiful and then yeah we went to post atano italy after in you confirm 30a oh yeah it's 30a it is insane will text me when i put a picture up when i saw him posta because i'm I'm thinking there in Greece all the time when I saw him post a photo in Positano, like Sorrento was right up. Like we stayed in that area and I'm just like, bro. The text was, how sick is 38.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Bro, it's unreal. It really is. Like, I was telling Will earlier that I felt really, like, present in the moment because I would just be looking around and the views and things you're seeing are like, they seem like they're unreal.
Starting point is 00:28:46 Like, it doesn't seem possible. These cliffs are massive. You're thinking how. How are these houses and these structures sitting on the side of the moon? These little crevices of these mountains. And like truly like when we are swimming out off the boat, like I'm like, this is, we're in the sea. Like this isn't like going to the beach or you're in the ocean.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Like this is, we're in the sea. And these cliffs are massive, dude. It makes no sense. It's super hard like when you're looking at it to like grasp what's going on. It's 10 out of 10 I would recommend going because it is you'll seriously be thinking like, they got this shit going and like yeah i definitely get out to italy you get a chance go to italy i want to get to greece just based on your guys dude that island was in your trip yeah it's and it's cool too in the oceans there's like very little marine life especially
Starting point is 00:29:35 anything that would like if you're nervous about sharks or stingrays whatever because the water's so warm you around like those kind of animals don't aren't attracted to that kind of um that area and it's cool so you can just swim openly and really just don't have any kind of worry in the world i I think I can speak for Garrett when I say this. I want to extend a thank you to you guys for allowing us for the first time. Like since we've worked here to fully tap out of work and just go do that, it really meant a lot for us to just be able to go and like fully be just immersed in a new culture and not have to worry about it.
Starting point is 00:30:08 And everyone back home, he gets that such a busy week. It looks like y'all fucking crush tight in you. So like seriously, like the biggest thanks to everyone here who like picked up the slack for us and for you guys to allow us to go do these things. because it truly was, like I said, the trip of a lifetime. And it means the world that we got to go do that. So appreciate that for you guys. Did you have a little bit of fomo when you saw that Taylor Swift photo dropped?
Starting point is 00:30:30 So many people, because again, we're with all of our friends. So many people are like, yo, like you didn't get to meet Taylor Swift. Meanwhile, we're in the bluest water of imaginable on an island looking at fat yachts go by like, yeah, but I'm chilling right here. I was really, really fired up for you guys personally. Could not have cared at all. But I was telling one of my buddies. It was our biggest week, I think, maybe ever on social media.
Starting point is 00:30:57 It had to have been. And I think I looked one time on our Instagram while I was there. And I just want to kind of see what was going. It was like two days after tidying you. And I saw the engagement. And I was like, I'm good. I'm like deleting the app for now. But I was talking with one of my buddies saying if I was either a female or
Starting point is 00:31:17 someone who is a massive Taylor Swift fan and like I've worked here for five years and the one time I finally leave the country like the person who works underneath me gets to meet Taylor Swift. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would have that would have ruined their trip. Elanis was a little upset. Yeah, but no, I mean, I was I was happy for you guys. I was like, I'm good. You didn't have FOMO seen the pop and dozen trivia? Well, that I did. That I did. That I did. I thought we were going to get to that at some point. I did hear, I was word on the island that the pop was bigger the dozen than it was when she came out at I shit you not like I stand on business when I say the pop for dozen trivia that moment that moment that competition that was happening that moment that pop was
Starting point is 00:31:59 louder than where you rocked up oh buddy you just flex your chest it was yeah it was awesome we interrupt this episode because we are sponsored by row don't you hate waiting for a full erection when you want one. Starting point is 00:33:03 go to row.com slash safety info. Back to the episode. Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We've created our own podcast.
Starting point is 00:33:14 called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:33:30 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember. Remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
Starting point is 00:33:47 We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen.
Starting point is 00:34:05 We don't care where you hear it. If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down. Orsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man. They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew. Pinky has financial issues. I like the bougie style of Housewives show. I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.
Starting point is 00:34:27 On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King, recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows, including the Real Housewives franchise. The drama, the alliances, and the team everybody's talking about. As an executive producer in reality television, I'm not just watching it. I understand the game. As somebody who creates shows,
Starting point is 00:34:48 I'll even say this. At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment. To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:35:00 or wherever you get your podcast. It was awesome. It was a good week. You see, did you happen to listen to us talking to Matt about him taking the photo? I did. I got like the,
Starting point is 00:35:11 I think it was just like a little clip he made where he's talking about. He's like, yeah, we talked for 30 minutes. And then it was 20 and then it's 10 and then it's 8. It's like the first thing I said to him. I was like, he sent me a photo just like unannounced, just him and Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:35:23 And I was dying laughing about it. When I saw like, I muted the group text to try and like, you know, actually take a break. And the one time I opened it, I see the picture of just Matt and Taylor Swift. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:35:37 what the fuck? Like before, I just remember before leaving like kind of given Matt like a, hey like you're going to crush like lock in when it's time to lock in but have fun and then that was the photo I was like this motherfucker we're trying to make him sweat there for a moment to the point his parents think that we hate him we do not we do not hate man he he was outside he's sitting there all you know four july weekend my parents are like hey does will does buss even like you no it's just the culture before we got on he was kind of doing the same thing about
Starting point is 00:36:08 like their megaculture what he told yeah yeah the comments about the photo or dude insane man i mean her her world like her her fame is like i you don't even know how to talk around or like talk about it's it's it's diabolical inside the bus got clipped out by the thrifty page yeah it had like thousands of likes on twitter yeah yeah it was uh it's fascinating new name inside the bus she is just like one of like along with our boy donald t is one of the most polarizing figures on planet earth and you can just see it whenever we touch content with them it's just it's a wildfire somebody text and asked like who's who's next how do you go up from here with the flex pose and I was like Jesus
Starting point is 00:36:52 Christ next Easter when he rises from the door walking on water I'd like to know can y'all you'll probably talked about a lot just the last few weeks can I get like a best moment that we've missed maybe outside of best maga moment new segment tag megal. But yeah, love to hear anything outside. Obviously,
Starting point is 00:37:16 Taylor Swift, Matt Malone, foul, but. I mean, a lot of good moments. It's definitely one of those weeks to where you're sitting there
Starting point is 00:37:25 at the end of the week because when you're in it, you're like, you're grinding through, you're like, hey, what's the next thing we got to do? We did the Titan U concert
Starting point is 00:37:31 we were there all day for Titan U. Just like another one of those weeks, like, you know, when you get off, when you get off a banger weekend or a banger week with bus and where you're just like,
Starting point is 00:37:40 you just can't believe that. Just so much, stuff going on. How was Titan U at Vandy, like the actual run of show? And was it like a big turnout? Was it a lot of younger tight ends? Yeah, there's like 80 plus tight ends. Tideenew,
Starting point is 00:37:52 they crushed it again with everybody. The podcast we did with Greg Olson, when that drops, like that was an all-timer, just talking shop. A lot of good guys. Youth football. A lot of good guys. Yeah, dude. It was, um, it was cool. They had a huge turnout. They did the little
Starting point is 00:38:09 kids camp at the end. Nice. They kind of structured it to where it was just one day on the field, not two days on the field. Like it was more about some of the events and things that they were given, like their little gift suite packages. Like, tied in you just crushes it for everybody who comes in. Yeah, I probably had the most FOMO about the golf tournament that they did or the
Starting point is 00:38:27 golf outing. Yeah, see, we didn't go to the, we didn't go to the golf out. How was Jeremy Shockey? A legend. Were you just like, holy fuck? What you did, what you'd expect? Just somebody who's like, you know, he's still kind of there, but his shoulders are kind of sagging because he's just put so many dudes in the dirt yeah just in the dirt got a little
Starting point is 00:38:46 tick to him he could just tell he's probably ready to fight at the drop of a hat if you need him to hell yeah that was awesome um maybe maybe the best moment seeing Jurassic world rebirth yeah we great great summer movie like you're saying Stephen chay had a great review on it yeah and i was and i it paid me to to go through that experience and watch, I know Will loves the series so much. And it was... So much. It was a bad movie watching experience for Will.
Starting point is 00:39:22 And I think this is only the second time I've seen a movie with Will. I was disappointed for him. I was disappointed in him. But... That's fair. Yeah. Because even when it's happening, I thought to myself, I need to get up and move. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Because I, you know, when somebody's just... I had to be on my phone because we had... So... We went and saw the movie. When was that, Wednesday? Yeah, Wednesday at noon. So we were kind of off at the shop. I was telling Charo how we had a team meeting.
Starting point is 00:39:50 We might be doing a little team building thing. Maybe go see Jurassic Park. Maybe not. It wasn't like fully confirmed in her mind that we were going to watch a movie. I started laughing when I got on. She's like, oh, you want to see it? I was like, yeah, that's what I was doing. Oh, my, hey, that makes it even fun here.
Starting point is 00:40:08 So we had two little sick kiddos. Rue and Scotty were both sick. Scottie was really congested. We had the snot sucker on or going on at like all times. Rue was starting to get a little sick from whatever Scotty had. So we had two sick kids on Wednesday. The AC upstairs goes out on Wednesday. I think it's like Wednesday morning because it was like 85 degrees upstairs.
Starting point is 00:40:31 But I'm just thinking, all right, we kind of have one of those things where it's got the range where it's cool down to 69 or heat up to 69 cool down to 72. So I thought whenever we wake up in the morning, we kind of turn. it from like 68 back up to in that range. So I'm thinking, all right, the heat might have just kicked on and it's just a little hotter upstairs because the week's been, the last couple weeks have been pretty hot. So it was like 84, 85 upstairs. And it's kind of blowing hot air. And again, I'm thinking it's just it turning back on. And so we get through the day before I leave because Charles had to work and we didn't have, we didn't have Audrey. So I'm rocking
Starting point is 00:41:05 with the kids up until 11 when I drop them off at bar three to go with Charo at child care. And when I'm leaving, I'm like, man, it's hot up here, bro. It was like up to 87. And I'm just thinking like hopefully it like turns around. I'm like closing the windows. I'm closing the blinds and stuff. And so we go to the movies to see Jurassic World. Well, the AC is identified to be like broken.
Starting point is 00:41:28 It's not working correctly. It's blowing hot air. It's 90 degrees upstairs. So the AC's out upstairs. Kids are in turmoil because they're getting over sickness. They're kind of sick. Charles having just a rough time. And she's essentially texting me a play by play of all this going on.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Like a while I'm watching Jurassic World. So I'm like having to hit up Rob. Robbie, shout out the boy Robbie, our guy that does our HVAC stuff. He's got somebody going over there. I'm texting her. I'm like, hey, somebody's going to be there within 30 minutes. Roos screaming about, you know, she wants the lemon and honeywater that Charles said she was going to make her. And Charles texted me.
Starting point is 00:42:00 I didn't know we were out of lemons. I used the last lemon because I'm on my shit right now. So I'm using my lemon water and salt. I use the last lemon in the morning. And I'm just thinking, so just order another lemon. So I'm like, I'll get one, I'll get one delivered over to you. I'm ordering lemons. I'm doing the eight.
Starting point is 00:42:13 Mid movie. Mid movie, bro. I'm just seeing the text go. I get distracted. I'm not sitting there trying to like break down the entire context because I'm like, oh, he's watching a movie. He's trying to enjoy it. He sees my phone going on.
Starting point is 00:42:24 I see my phone going off. I'm hating that I'm having to sit there in text. Like my favorite franchise, top three, top five favorite franchise, the newest movies going on. And it was, it was a tough performance for me. And that wasn't even the worst. part for him. And you know what I was at the movie theater. So I'm like, hey, I'll be home soon.
Starting point is 00:42:44 And then I'm like, you know, I'm hydrated. I have to go to the bathroom. This awesome scene in the ocean happens where it seems like it's calming down. And they like, the boat crashes and they're like crawling on the side. I'm thinking, all right, this could be a moment. They might be catching up on some side conversations with the plot building a little bit. I'll have JP and Mitch break it down for me when I get back. I run to the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:43:05 I come back. They're kind of like laughing with their head down. They're like, bro, you miss. so far the best kill of the movie and probably everybody's talking like it's one of the best one of the better scenes like in that movie and I missed it because I had to go to the bathroom so I had to go to the bathroom I'm fucking texting on my phone
Starting point is 00:43:21 I am watching the movie but my phone is like out it was Are you gonna go see it again? I want to I told Charles I want you to see the movie like you'll you'll I tell you'll love it like I'll love watching it again dude I know first scene was crazy We don't want to spoil it, but like how the whole movie gets set up.
Starting point is 00:43:42 There's a, yeah, if there's a negative to the movie, we'll just, the hint is Snickers rapper. Yeah, but also the kill, like, as I go back and sit and review the movie in my head, it probably was like the least eventful kill. But because of the situation of like you being on your phone, then you popping out to go to the bathroom and coming back and missing it, it gave me like late night chuckles when you have a leap over when you're young and you just like can't stop laughing and I was just like man this might be one of the funniest moments in movie theater of all time I tell you what though we housed that large popcorn before it started before the movie started it's where in my stomach before the
Starting point is 00:44:23 that that's every time that's natural like I know I'm getting a a large soda I'm getting the raisinettes we're getting the popcorn I don't ever usually go big bucket of popcorn but we had this little family deal going on up on the menu that we had to get we couldn't turn our head to. Did they have a special popcorn bucket for Jurassic World? Like, it's refillable. I'm thinking, yeah, we probably ain't going to refill this. But we could have.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I should have had you go out when you went to the bathroom. Yeah. On the topic of dinosaurs, I did hear that the company that brought back the Dyerwolf is working on bringing back a dinosaur. I can't think of which one. But that's their next project. and I think Tom Brady invested.
Starting point is 00:45:09 There's enough. I mean, the movies are out there. The movies are out there. It's a mistake to create dinosaurs. They're already created. JP got to learn about the depth and education I have on these dinosaurs. Raptors come on the screen for the first time.
Starting point is 00:45:24 Hey, there go the Raptors. He goes, oh shit, the Raptors. And he said Raptors about four more. In JP fashion, he's like, You're one boy that, your boy that only knows one dinosaur in the entire movie. The Raptors, bro. You see the Raptors? Any dinosaurs that come on?
Starting point is 00:45:42 I'm like, trying to remember. I'm like, hey, that's a, uh, what was that one? I'm like, hey, that's a Dolophisaurus right there. Just, you know, just to let you know. They have been playing all the Jurassic Parks on TV. So you can tell it's, just Jurassic. I enjoyed the movie. If you like Jurassic Park, if you like the franchise, you'll enjoy this movie.
Starting point is 00:45:59 They said Scarlett Johansson became the highest grossing actors in like movie history. passing Samuel L. Jackson or something. Tom Cruise? They just been a part of the most crazy. Because it Marvel. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was fun. That was a good time.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Nobody was in the theater. Yeah. There was one solo, there was one solo old dude that was in the row ahead of us. I'm like, man, I can only pray to God that that's me in 40 years. Just to join a movie in June. I felt for him because he had to go to the bathroom. and he was walking so slow and I'm just I'm like pro he's about to miss so much I'm like he's about to miss so much and nobody is there to recap it for him I sure went down no spoilers
Starting point is 00:46:47 but thoughts on the D-Rex stupid yeah I thought the D-Rex was a little O-D O-D-Rex looked like an animal that should be in like hills have eyes or something like that I thought they tried to try too hard with you making this thing yeah it did it looked like an alien looked like an alien that's tough she's made 15.4 her movies have made 15.4 billion dollars that'll be a dozen question next year I'd be ready to go 15.4 billion ponies pony you guys see uh hey some 4th of july news can't talk about 4th of july and not talk about joey chestnut oh yeah just doing it again I mean the the gap is so big It's...
Starting point is 00:47:34 Did y'all see the question of if they had to eat a hot dog and run 100 meters who would win Joey Chestnut or Usain Bolt? Yeah, I like that question. I think it's still Yusain, right? I don't know. I think it's chestnut because I think somebody was saying he can eat a hot dog in one and a half seconds. But so if you're going by the rules of the hot dog competition, when he's throwing them in there in the last seconds, it counts if it's like in his mouth, fully in his mouth.
Starting point is 00:48:03 So I'm thinking if you Sengen just get the hot dog in his mouth and he can start running like he's he he could that's where he'd beat him. Then he would just need to finish it. Now if it's like to completion they got to swallow it. That's where Joey would. Yeah, they got to swallow the dog. Right. They got to swallow the meat. That's where Joey would have him.
Starting point is 00:48:18 But I think if it's if you just get it in your mouth, I think Usain still takes it. Yeah. I agree with that. Yeah, we need more rules. Need more rules. We just need that to happen. I wonder why like, because Joey Justin's not going into it probably knew he wasn't going to break the world. record, I'm like, if it's me, I'm just going to break my opponent and stay on pace with them
Starting point is 00:48:38 and just be looking at him the whole time. And then once we get to like 40, start going double, just like, okay. Just tawn him the whole time. Yeah, because it's like, how else do you have fun with that if you're Joe chestnut? Because you're so much better than everybody. You beat him by 20 hot dogs. Like I saw 70 and a half. Does he have like a streak of like in the 70s going? So his number's always trying to get at least 70. He's got like 78 before. Yeah, that's the world record. Right. That's the world record. Right. That's the. record but I want to say he's got like maybe consecutive when he retires where he's had over 70 do they put like his jersey in the rafters do they just put like a
Starting point is 00:49:12 massive dog I think they just got to call it the the chestnut like when they have a trophy they just call it the chestnut he's got to make like a hot dog brand he has he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got a sauce because remember he was on the vegan stuff last year so he didn't compete ruin his legacy for a paycheck bro yeah that was a moment that was a little shaky for him. Yeah. Now look at him. Hey, Maga community did not like that.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Maga moment. Yeah, yeah. Fourth of July, rumors of UFC, celebrating 250 years of America at the White House on the lawn. How sick would that be? It would be sick, but also who's going to be there because us. Us, but I'm saying if you're the fighter and you just have like 50, 50 politician like Ted Cruz is just ringside like there'd be no juice no juice it would be like
Starting point is 00:50:10 the movie what is it with a with a Channing Tatum and he's fighting all the fox catcher no no it's in fight club or not fight no no no it's the fighting movie oh oh it's like the wrestler movie right no no it's uh he's true yeah I know exactly what you're talking about J P knows what I'm talking about I think it's called like fighting or like okay let's look it up yeah
Starting point is 00:50:36 yeah uh channing chatham fighting movie step up but it would be an environment like that right you have just have all the
Starting point is 00:50:45 just the richest you have politicians fighting fighting yeah yeah bro yeah great movie
Starting point is 00:50:52 I love Terrence Howard I love Terrence Howard everybody's solving the world right now being solved yeah been solved he's seen it already there's a rain
Starting point is 00:51:02 Oh, it's starting to rain. Apologies if you hear that. Yeah, brought the rain back. We officially have more rain than Seattle so far this year. What's your, JP? What is your dream fight card? Dream card would be John Jones versus Aspinall. Yes.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Which is U.S. versus Britain. Yeah. Then it would be McGregor Chandler. Yes. McGregor will be one year into presidency. A in Ireland. There's one more. There's one more on there.
Starting point is 00:51:30 Pereira versus somebody. Oh God. Ilya versus Islam. Yeah. Ilya versus Islam. If Islam wins the welterweight belt, we were talking about this on the phone. Yeah. We were talking about, you know, people vacating the belt, vacating the lightweight to go up to welterweight.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Ilya vacating the not, not, was it featherweight? They were to go up to lightweight. Yeah. Featherweight to go. Or is it Bannum weight? No, Bainam's below. Feather way. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:58 But Islam wins the welterweight belt. you could have the super fight of all super fights for sure Islam versus Elia McGregor versus Chandler Aspinall versus Jones on the lawn of the White House I know celebrating 250 years hey or or you just do a full US versus Russia card and Trump and Putin are sitting on opposite sides oh man winter gets like whatever deal they'd like do a trade deal yeah that would be no no I think we'll win who are we putting out there John Jones
Starting point is 00:52:33 Michael Chandler now we got guys to win because Mara yeah we have to fight Marab again yeah I don't know if we can have I don't know if we can risk that a matchup against Marab it would be pretty even honestly I think
Starting point is 00:52:47 that that would be intense the world would be so involved with that it would there would be training so hard I mean we would too obviously because we would just send our guys too
Starting point is 00:53:00 rush to train. Yeah. But yeah, that is the card. The triple champion. Well, I guess Mike's won't be a championship fight, but. Because the, who are the, who are the women again?
Starting point is 00:53:13 Where it's legacy versus. Oh, Kayla Harrison versus Nunes. That'll probably happen before then, though. Yeah. Yeah, probably. Because timelines, you see McGregor having the interest with the whole White House thing. That's the only thing that brings McGregor back.
Starting point is 00:53:28 Yeah. it'll be interesting you know if he does get in the octagon again it'll be and if he does run for president in ireland i see you see uh you know on on x where something like that'll happen migrago'll post it and somebody'll ask uh grok like how you know where is he at in the running and grog just talks about he's only got like 7% of this but that's how highly unlikely that's how it starts with those the people outside of politics what else do we got man yeah Should we hit an ad?
Starting point is 00:54:00 Let's hit an ad. We interrupt this episode to bring you SimplySafe. Simply Safe protects busting with the boys in our office. What do you want to keep safe? Starting point is 00:55:01 There's no safe like simply safe. Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:55:16 We just contributed to a first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Starting point is 00:55:38 Before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:55:55 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down. Gorsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man. They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew. Pinky has financial issues. I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
Starting point is 00:56:21 I think it looks like it's going to be interesting. On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows, including the Real House Wise franchise, the drama, the alliances, and the team everybody's talking about. As an executive producer in reality television, I'm not just watching it. I understand the game. As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this. At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment. To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:57:00 We do have, it is drop week for college football 26. I know Mitch before we started the show, he has, he had hopes. Like, we always do. Like, let's start a dynasty. We've heard Dale Earnhardt Jr. talk about his dynasty. Let's get a dynasty going with the boys at the bus. I love, like internally, I love the idea. Just knowing us, it's like it's never going to get done.
Starting point is 00:57:22 However, I am fired up to play the new CFB 26. I want to say the Huskers are, are we 25? Like, we're top 20 in offense. I think you guys are going to be a pretty good squad. Like a, for a video game squad. Yeah. You guys are going to be a good squad. A good tier.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Just in the game, like not playing with the best teams on the game. Yeah. A good squad to pick up and compete with. Like if you and Taylor were to start playing again and like did the Nebraska versus Michigan, like that would, like, Michigan was broken in the last game with all of like Mason Graham and all those guys that they had. Like.
Starting point is 00:57:55 Still took care of them. Yeah, I think it would be even more lopsided with Nebraska. Mitch wants to play just so he can be the national championship, national champion every season. For sure. I said I'm going to take Delaware to the promise land. I mean, that could be fun. I've been to their stadium a couple times because my cousin went there. And it's like a cool, their vibe that they have going on is super cool. The blue hand. Delaware blue hands, pride of Joe Flacco.
Starting point is 00:58:23 A team to play with on college football 26. South Carolina. Broke. We just have the ultimate video game players that the game makers love to see. We have on offense, the minute a game maker sees a 6-4-220 guy that's fast, it's like. 99-speak. Yeah. Let's have fun with it.
Starting point is 00:58:42 Let's have fun with it. Evan Stewart or Dylan Stewart? Dylan Stewart. He's going to be like broken in the game. Yeah. To tackle him. Lenora Sellers is like you said, the Michael Vick of. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:54 That's like that's a team to play with. It is the team. It's like the fun team. I mean, you saw the clip with Kirk Benkirt. Yeah. Sellers are just scrambling around and ends up scoring. But you got a quarterback who can run, who's mobile. You don't have to understand all the passing game that goes on so you can take off and run.
Starting point is 00:59:07 And then on defense, if you're not like a great user player, usually you default to play with the defensive lineman. Right. The rush or Dylan Stewart, like your team, your game is like taking care of. It's so fun. And it made me feel good because it's obviously the video game hype. Like South Carolina, so much of our attention will, is like, coming from this type of thing on a national scale where they're like, man, these guys are sick. Well, like, let me actually watch South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:59:32 So you're like, man, people are tuning in more than they have before. Still not, you know, like at the top top level, but you're like, man, we just, we need you guys to deliver this football season. I know they will. It made me feel good when at the Manning Passing Academy, the Mannings gave their top three quarterbacks. And it was Nussmeier, Arch, and Sellers. They gave sellers the third.
Starting point is 00:59:55 If you're in on the Gamecocks now, like, it can be a very, it can be an awesome year. Yeah, it could be an awesome year. We have a lot of futures bets out there with Fandul. This could be the greatest. Yeah, futures video. Sherman and I recorded earlier a message to myself on the day of the SEC championship. I just think I'm going back to the video game. Like, I'm so happy that, like, this game is back because we were without it for 10 years.
Starting point is 01:00:21 And I remember, like, as a kid, like, just so excited. started for the drop day because like you're excited to see like the new graphics packages and like the new ways that the players can move and stuff and like the fact that college football video games are back is so awesome and I also saw something they might be bringing back at college basketball video games which is I could shoot in that park all day yes so and I remember like like the basketball game like 08 or with like Kevin love or Kevin Durant on it yeah like college football games or college video games are back and I'm so excited for it you just know who the players were too like you'd have to you know you get their number and everything else yeah like shooting guard 42
Starting point is 01:01:02 yeah running back quarterback 15 for rail yeah or something but like a highlight up on X of reggie bush in the video game and he's moving dude we got to get we got to get you two in the game we were so we're talking earlier bro i know i was saying in like an ultimate is a great idea an ultimate team they kind of like moments and stuff for you to like be be this player do this moment as you see once you finish this moment you get that player's card I was saying for you that uh what is it capital one bowler capital one capital one ball pick six we don't talk about it enough or a lot I don't know what you could do for Taylor I mean kind of just an offensive lineman but it would be sick to just have to score touchdown maybe I know it's from the pros but get the Willie
Starting point is 01:01:48 C card by getting a pick six against Georgia they uh They did just put out a new video game cover. I don't know if you saw it. We just posted the new cover on X. We also have some breaking news. I'll get that pulled up. And we are friends with EA Sports. This is nothing against EA Sports.
Starting point is 01:02:10 But I feel like in the new update, with the intro for Nebraska, there is not a Will Compton hype video going on on the Jones. Jumbotron before kickoff that has been released officially. It's not included in the game. That sucks. So it's breaking news that it's not in the game. It's breaking news that it's not in the game. People are already commenting on the video saying,
Starting point is 01:02:34 where's the Will Compton? Hi video. Is Scrilla in the game? Even if there's no audio, just him with the... Yeah, you just see something on the Jumbotron. When it's like that would be all time. When you're like kicking the... Come on EA sports.
Starting point is 01:02:50 We love you EA sports. So many great updates with this game. I heard in a road to glory now you can play Road to Glory and get your player all the way to where you can export it in Madden. Yeah. Because people love the Road to Glory stuff. And then you can import it into like Madden to be in like the superstar mode of Madden. Right. But like you now in Road to Glory you start in high school whereas in last year's game you just kind of started as a freshman.
Starting point is 01:03:16 It used to be that way, right? It used to be that way. Yeah, you'd play like you'd play a few games in high school. And you get recruited so far. You'd raise like your star rank. Yeah. Which like that's what made that old game fun because like, oh, I got to be the best I can so I can be a five star.
Starting point is 01:03:30 So it's a little dorm room. Yep. So I'm stoked for this game to come out. I've been, I looked at like my stats on like the EAC, like the 25 game. I think I played like nine days worth of just that game itself. So why can't we get Mitch in the game? If they were able to get a D3, Susque,
Starting point is 01:03:51 Hannah football player. 2019 team? Like an ultimate team? That would be on. I remember like in college football 14, I went through on the computer and made Susquehanna. Yeah, I have my team on my Xbox 360. But like, what's your moment?
Starting point is 01:04:06 You, the team was static. What's your Mitch Carsley card unlocked moment? It would probably be. Yeah, gotta be. Getting the game, my third touchdown of the game, we went to touchdown in overtime against Dickinson. So you have to go into OT to unlock Mitch Carsly. You would probably start in a game.
Starting point is 01:04:21 O T and then like you just have to score a touchdown with me no it was a it was a comeback route guy was on my back fucking caught it get off me and then my boy my boy goodie had like a crackback block and just went in and I just went ballistic they got they got to let you do NIL purchases in the new game that would be six you should be able to buy stuff you so you're I hate bringing I hate bringing up uh this brain where we're talking about EA but it's like like when 2K would have their created player and you would have like a like a pet house. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:04:57 You can buy like a car to drive around like your town rather than like the skateboard. Purchases could unlock players. Where are you going with this? That's a Jack and when you look back here we were laughing. Yeah. Jack said, Jack was like, but you buy veneers, you unlock Wilcontin.
Starting point is 01:05:19 But historically accurate, it wouldn't make sense because that'd have to be in Madden. Yeah, yeah. But if it's NIL era, though, good question. If you had the NIL money flowing in like they do today, would you have gotten veneers in college? Yes. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:05:36 He would have been a problem with the name. He'd be at the, on O Street, tearing it down. Well, it's, you know, Charo, Chorrault have these old photos where it's like my neck is thick, my face is bigger and stuff, And it just, I look crazy, man. I look crazy with them little chicklets in my mouth. Fun fact, though, I wasn't 89 impact player on college football. Oh, you had 13?
Starting point is 01:06:00 Yeah. That's sick. Yeah, I was fired up. But it would, EA. Let's get a little, little pregame feature where you see you got Memorial Stadium and you just got on the Jumbotron. Just, oh, Willie C with his face painted. Again, doesn't have to be audio.
Starting point is 01:06:18 Just there. Yeah, just there. Just the visual of it. Because they got the tunnel walk all wrong now. They have the old school tunnel walk where you're jumping up and hitting the horseshoe. They don't have like the new, the new stadium. Not new stadium, but the new locker room, how it walks to the stadium. I believe they fixed it this year.
Starting point is 01:06:35 Maybe I saw an old video then. Isn't Terrence Crawford in it? Is he? Is he? Or maybe I, maybe. That would be hype. I mean, he did during the Colorado game and he had the belt and everything with him. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:47 I thought that, I thought I saw that in the game because I saw, all they need scrella Dylan Raola looking exactly like that in the books oh is this it yeah that's it okay then that does look correct
Starting point is 01:07:01 I can't show it oh you're not able to show it yeah we don't want to get copyrighted don't want to get copyrighted we do have codes we'll have some codes to send out so stay connected with us on our social media channels
Starting point is 01:07:14 at bus and WTB we will have codes to give out for the new EA CFB 26 maybe if we don't do a connected dynasty, maybe we have like a busing one, like a fan one,
Starting point is 01:07:26 I'll be in it. I can moderate it or whatever. And then like they could, like the winners, I'm going to win the national championship, but like whoever comes in second could like just get merch or something. Like,
Starting point is 01:07:36 just a cool little way to like get the fans involved and stuff. You need to string. And you just want a dummy. You want to dummy some folks in college football. I'm, I think we need to get you connected and you play Kurt. He needs to streak. You play against Kurt. But so.
Starting point is 01:07:50 The thing is with Kurt knows, no, no, I know, but like, what, like, Kurt obviously understands football. And he knows, like, if you motion a guy over, put him here and run this route, it's like, you can't beat that. So, like, but that also comes with knowing more football. Like, I'll just, I ask coach every time I'm just picking a play and I run probably like 20 plays. And, like, I'm not motioning anybody changing routes unless it's like, I just want this guy to do a little something here for, like, a first. first down but like Kurt like knows how to really exploit everything but I would love to play Kirk because then I would learn it from the best so shout out you Kirk for being the best but I watch all your videos but I that would be awesome I would be a boring G said I should
Starting point is 01:08:34 stream I would be a boring as streamer we nominate Mitch to go against Kurt just to see how it unfolds if he were to come in the shop and do stuff like that would be I would all about it that would be fun yeah Sherm has a the board what are you wearing I am wearing our new what are these called why jumpsuits it's like a Hawaiian set yeah a little Hawaiian set you got your swimming trunks on you got your your top you can get this at bwtb.com shop to you drop shop till you drop what else in the college football world oh you see uh you see the video Josh bait yeah the massive risk he's like I'm willing to put everything on the line for Nebraska to be better than six
Starting point is 01:09:20 and six, I'm just thinking like, that's not that you're not putting much on the line. And then he put it on you. He said it's up to Wilcompton and Mad Rule not to mess this up. Yeah, most important three seconds of my life. He's right. I mean, he's not wrong. But to me, there's not, there's not a world to where, like, being better than six and six is not even debatable, in my humble opinion. Because I was texting with him, and he was like, what did he say?
Starting point is 01:09:55 Let's see here. But I think to have the commissioner, having you over 6 and 6, that's big. That's awesome. Do what? I'm just saying the fan favorite commissioner of college football is saying your team is going to do better than 6 and 6. I don't see the issue. I don't know. I don't see an issue with that.
Starting point is 01:10:19 It's just I'm willing to bet. like I'm willing to my wallet everything that they'll be better than six and six and six. I'm like, that is not that risky. Because he texted me, he said, they never notice when you toss love out. Shame.
Starting point is 01:10:30 I said, better than six and six is loved you, Joshua? He said, that can mean 12 and 0. I said, it could also mean seven and five. He said, how much bigger a stand can I possibly take?
Starting point is 01:10:40 I said, eight plus are my foxhole guys. Those are the guys buying stock. Those are the guys that understand what's going on in the kitchen in Nebraska football. Are they really see 10 plus win level optimism, batting for a college football
Starting point is 01:10:52 playoff spot? No. Very few are. Very few have that kind of courage. But the ones seeing the field with 8 plus are the ones I'm ready to go to war with. He responded, I can do 8. By August, I could see myself flirting with the nines. Mission accomplished.
Starting point is 01:11:08 I think he knows. And I think my push to him is he is like one of the biggest voices in college football. If he's pushing that wagon and Nebraska's hot and When we do win those amount of games, he's the guy that saw it before everybody else could see it. That's what I'm trying to tell folks out there. Confirmed Gamecock.
Starting point is 01:11:30 Yeah, confirmed Gamecock. A lot of the media personalities high on them. A lot of the media personalities are high on the Gamecocks? Yeah. So how does that make you feel? I like when it's like a few. It's like there's still, people don't see, people don't understand like what's actually going on at the university. So it's like, hey, buy stock now.
Starting point is 01:11:48 You're still always welcome on the on the bandwagon when it happens, but you're going to feel so much better that you knew it before it was fucking happening. Right. Yeah. It's, I mean, if you see, if you would have just looked at last year with that, like, they should have been saying it last year, no one sellers would be back. Yeah. So if you can college football, if you have a quarterback, like a lot of good, a lot of special things can happen.
Starting point is 01:12:12 You have, you have a quarterback. You have a top five, top 10 pick. I got to check on our linebackers. That's how I got to check on it. But no one you have guys like that. No one you have genetics like that on your team. It feels like a big like not make or break year, but a year if you're a Gamecock fan,
Starting point is 01:12:35 like you have to be so excited, but there's also a lot of fear with that because it's like these are a couple generational type players that we have and hopefully the results show with these players because who knows if we'll get these cats again. Yeah, it's almost, It's a tone setter for like this year and moving forward. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:12:52 Yeah. These guys are. Obviously going to come. If you got cats like that on the squad and you don't, you don't produce with it, like that'll obviously, you know, deter cats from being like, you do got to go to those bigger schools. The biggest thing I think for them is these guys are generational talent, what they're going to help do in recruiting. And then if they do end up staying again is when I think you see. the like the work paid off right right I'm excited God it's so Mitch are you working I saw
Starting point is 01:13:25 I saw from Taylor because he was like college about 50 days away college football can't get here soon enough and it was like our old video from which was crazy to post he came across that and found that because that was like back in 20 23 that was back in 23 when we kind of did our fall tour announcement the places we're going to are you working on a high video for this year I can for sure get you in that we need to get you in the kitchen on that Do we want to... Because those are juicy. We got to figure out the games. Yeah, I was going to say, do we want to figure out the games?
Starting point is 01:13:53 Because that's kind of how I made it. A couple of Nebraska ones in there. I mean, I can definitely... September, Nebraska. Late August, Nebraska. Early September, Nebraska. The whole month. Even if I were to just make it, because those always play
Starting point is 01:14:07 because those college football videos, oh my God. They are so juicy, though. They go goosebumps every time. It's the biggest thing, you just got to pick the right song. And we're getting so close. Fall camp starts at the end of the end of the... this month. Training camp starts at the end of this month. The headlines are going to be flying, the debates, the arguing. What do you point in at? Vandals got you, Nebraska, at plus 350 for 10 plus
Starting point is 01:14:31 wins on the season. Dang. That ain't that. Nerv confident you y'all. South Carolina, they're over under seven and a half. They know. I mean, I'm going to push you too. What can we put up there to get will to bite on this? Vandal sportsbook. If you go right now to the futures, win totals, Nebraska would get 10. 10 plus wins this season is sitting at plus 350. What's nine wins? There are no guarantees in life. However,
Starting point is 01:14:58 I can't say that. I guarantee you, I'll be taking that. I can't say however. No, you can't say this is a guarantee. Yeah, no, there are no guarantees. This is not a guarantee. I'm just letting you know the stuff that I'm hearing,
Starting point is 01:15:10 the stuff that I'm hearing. Plus 9 is plus 150. Plus 9 wins. Yeah, if you don't want to go all the way to 10 plus, there are 9 plus wins sitting at plus 150 on these fan dual app right now I'm just I'm just saying you saw what cam Ward said about y'all's recruit that's committed to Nebraska
Starting point is 01:15:28 no oh yeah yeah well he was uh he was throwing with him throwing with him I want to play with this guy yeah I didn't know that guy was a Carolina recruit Nebraska recruit probably will be a Carolina guy guy I know it's like anytime videos like that are coming out and they're just committed they're not at the school I'm just always nervous I'm like oh shit oh yeah The line is already out for South Carolina Clemson at the end of the year somehow.
Starting point is 01:15:53 Clemson is plus four, or South Carolina is plus four and a half. Against Clemson? At home, too. Come on. They're high on Clemson this year. They're high on Clemson every year, bro. They like their schedule and they love Clubnik. Yeah, he's good.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Yeah, he's good in the ACC. Yeah, he is. Good in the ACC. Let's go. We dummied him last year. Thank you for that interception in the red zone. Cade. How about Notre Dame getting all the legends of the NFL,
Starting point is 01:16:30 all their sons are going to Notre Dame? Shout up Marcus Freeman. Dude seems like a hell of a recruiter. I feel like Notre Dame is like getting back to just being Notre Dame. They had their stint even in like the 2010s and everything like that's where they go to the college level playoff, but they kind of get blown out. Right.
Starting point is 01:16:47 They go against Bama. We've heard all those stories. But it feels like now Notre Dame's getting back to where they are becoming like more of the prominent teams, like one of those Blue Bloods. Back to our Blue Bloods status. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Happy for Shane, too. Happy for Shane.
Starting point is 01:17:04 I think I watched Tires for the third time already. Yeah, I'm interested to see Plexgo Beres' son. Yeah, yeah. Because you got to see the bus, Jerome Bettis. Thomas Davis, Larry Fitzgerald. Plexico Burris Jermichael Finley And who's the other one, Brian?
Starting point is 01:17:22 Yeah, Brian Young. All their sons are going to Notre Dame Which I think is cool. You know those dads are just, they're fired up to just be at Notre Dame. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like, I mean, nowadays,
Starting point is 01:17:34 I feel like we're seeing way more like family. Yeah, I agree. Families make it in both NFL and NBA. Yeah. It's going to be fun, man. Yeah. You guys see the, we'll hit this. then we'll get into the Brock Purdy interview.
Starting point is 01:17:49 Did you guys see the Cam Newton, Jalen Hertz, debate going on? I did. Who do you have? I think it's Cam Newton. Got to be. Has to be. I mean, Cam Newton, it's like, they're both great. Jalen Hertz, great player.
Starting point is 01:18:07 But Cam Newton is somebody that you had the game plan for. Like when you're playing the Carolina Panthers, it's, hey, this team runs through Cam Newton. It runs through the one. It runs through Jersey number one. And so you would have to do everything around Cam Newton. Jalen Hertz, hell of a player, has stats. His stats will probably be comparable because where he's at now compared to where
Starting point is 01:18:33 Cam Newton was. Seems like they're on track. He's got a few more rushing touchdowns. It's like, okay, yeah, five guys push you into the end zone. But his stats are there to where it could be like a debate or an argument, so to speak. But bro, you're not game planning Jalen Hertz's saying. way that you would game playing Cam Newton. Like on the Eagles, you got Sequin Barclay.
Starting point is 01:18:53 They've been known for their line of scrimmage for like the last decade, it feels like. They got A.J. Brown, Devante Smith. They got all these weapons. Now, Carolina had great players on their team too, but I'm telling you the entire pulse, the entire game plan was around Cam Newton. Yeah, who was Carolina's best receiver that Cam played with? Steve Smith. I mean, Steve Smith was a dog.
Starting point is 01:19:14 Greg Olson was a dog. He was older, though, I feel like. Yeah. And you're right. Ted Ginn, but bro, there's a horrible highlight tape out there. They're like, y'all want to have this argument. Look who Cam Newton was throwing to. And Ted Ginn dropped like six wide open touchdowns.
Starting point is 01:19:30 In games that some were losses as well. They were like less than a score. And I'm just saying that Cam had a lot of good players, a lot of good town around. They had good defense. Yeah, I mean, Lou Keekeley, you had Shaq. Yeah, Thomas Davis. Shack Thompson. Their line of scrimmage with Star and Peppers.
Starting point is 01:19:46 Yeah, Peppers, Julius Peppers. Like they had some dog, Josh Norman, they had some dogs. So you know when you say like Cam Newton didn't have as much to work with him, Jalen Hertz, the argument will be, oh, he had great players. He had great, he had great teammates too. That is true. Like Greg Olson was a beast, Steve Smith was a beast. Ted Gin, yeah, he was a beast.
Starting point is 01:20:02 All those players were good players. But it's not like when you're sitting in game playing against the Eagles, like you have to think about all of these other cats before you think about Jalen Hertz. He has a weapon in the run game. He can throw the ball well. he's got a good passer rating. He gets the ball into the hands of AJ fucking Brown. You got Saquan Barkley, and you're talking about the line of scrimmage.
Starting point is 01:20:24 Not in the same breath that you are when you're playing against the Carolina Panthers because it's like everything runs through Cam Newton. Two played devil's advocate. So I think it's Cam Newton. People want to talk about leadership and showing up. Yeah, like Jalen Hertz, phenomenal leader. Great on the mic anytime he gets in the press conference. He's an awesome fucking player.
Starting point is 01:20:44 It seems like an awesome guy. But the stuff you hear. about Cam Newton with his competitive nature and just watching this specimen on the field. Like you'd be out there pregame war, but you'd see this dude and it's like that is a fucking action figure. And he was deadly ever because he like he's they scheme runs for like he was he was so fucking good. To play to play devil's advocate. The chiefs thought the same thing about Jalen Hertz and said just make him pass. That's all we got to do is make him pass and then we saw what happened. But it's not make him pass. Like,
Starting point is 01:21:18 this dude's an incredible runner. We have to stop him on the ground and make him throw. Like that's more like Lamar Jackson. You're not necessarily going to stop him, but you're going to try to do as much as you can to win on first and second down so that Lamar is throwing the ball. And again, I'm not saying Lamar can't throw the football. That's just how you're trying to game plan against him. It's like, make him throw it to beat us. Like, yeah, you might have that same sentiment against Jalen, but it's not because he's the most unbelievably dangerous runner. Cam Newton was. Lamar Jackson, he is.
Starting point is 01:21:46 He was. Yeah. Like Jalen can run the ball. He can run the ball well. They have all their RPO's. They have their quarterback run game and everything else. He's a good runner. But he's not, he's not Cam Newton. It's a, I feel like it's a, it's almost like an unfair argument. Yeah, but it's, you know, it's one of those debates that you play into and have fun with. Because it's like, they're both great quarterbacks. Like Jalen, he's a stud. I like him as a player. I like him every time again.
Starting point is 01:22:12 Anytime he's doing a press conference, he seems like an awesome dude to fucking play with and play forward. They're also like polar opposite people. Like, obviously their builds. Cam's more vocal and stuff in the media. Jalen's like suit and tie. Like keep it straightforward.
Starting point is 01:22:29 Like it's a fun debate, but like I think it's Cam Newton all the way. Yeah, it's a fun debate, but it's like the Eagles, their franchise is so much better than Carolina. It's like they were winning before Jalen Hertz was there. They won. when Cam, or not Cam,
Starting point is 01:22:43 Carson Wince went down during an MVP season. Nick Foles comes in. They still win the Super Bowl. What did they do in Cam's first four years? Cam also threw for 400 yards in his first game and 4,000 yards as a rookie. Yeah, and that was a franchise. That was like bad back back.
Starting point is 01:23:01 Yeah, that was bad, bro. Jalen Hertz came into like a Super Bowl winning culture, a Super Bowl winning team. It's Cam Newton for me. Got to get them. I can't go with Cam. It just runs deeper than that. Yeah, you can't.
Starting point is 01:23:17 I can't. Those are his first four seasons. I can't see. What was Cam's first four seasons? What they do? Six and ten, seven to nine, twelve and four, five, eight one. I mean, I know it's a team game, but look at Jalen Hertz's first four years. But if you're looking at records, though, the Panthers weren't even close to what they were.
Starting point is 01:23:35 That's why I said, I know it's a team game. Yeah. But proven winner. Right. Solo, Solo Beast quarterback versus proven winner. All right, let's see.
Starting point is 01:23:48 People still sleep on Hertz and I don't understand. Says the thing, like, I'm not sleeping on him. For sure, I don't think you are. He's a great player. I think he's an awesome player. For sure. When you're talking about the debate
Starting point is 01:23:58 of Cam Newton versus Jalen Hertz, I just think. It's hard to not take Cam Newton for sure. If you have the number one overall pick between the two of them. Between the two of them. You're going to take.
Starting point is 01:24:08 Yeah, you're going to take Cam Newton. But if you're... They're both sitting there, you're taking Cam Newton. Yeah, it's hard. I can't say it though. It feels like the beginning Pokemon selection of like Charzard Blastoyce. Yeah, which would they're going to evolve into? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:23 And you're like, you know Cam's going to be a Charzard. Like Blastsois is cool too, but like a flying dragon that shoots fire. Is Shailin Bolivor? He might be Venusaur. No, no, not Venusaur. I got... What's the middle one? You got bobbosaur.
Starting point is 01:24:43 Ivy sore. Yeah, he's ivy sore. I mean, he's on such a fucking good team. And I don't say that to take away from him. I'm just saying he is on a fucking insane team. How long did Cam play? I'm going to say like even years. He played like probably 10 or 11 years, but those last two were on like the Patriots.
Starting point is 01:25:04 Yeah. He went back to the paper. I'd be curious to see like at the end of Hertz's career what the, the, the conversation is. It's like if they were both on middle of the road teams, like Cam Newton can win you games. Right. Kim Newton,
Starting point is 01:25:17 like it's proven that he's a superstar that can win you games. Yeah. We don't know that. Like maybe Jaylon could, but we don't know that. That was the question early in his career with the Eagles was, I mean, we asked it last year for the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 01:25:32 Like, would you rather have Pat Mahomes with two minutes left going full field or Jalen hurts? And I'm pretty sure we almost, all picked Pat Mahomes. Yeah. But it's hard because... No, that's a good point.
Starting point is 01:25:45 Because he is on the... He took down the greatest dynasty, one of the greatest dynasties of all time in the Chiefs. But it's just so hard to compare these athletes in a game that is such a team game. But if you're just looking at it, pure ability, man. I think a...
Starting point is 01:26:01 Camp Newton is a psychopath out there on the field. Yes. And I know that college isn't like a part of this argument, but to G's point of... Like, what do they bring to their team? It's, they went 14 and O, his Heisman season, National Championship season. That same roster, similar roster. There was graduate, like, they have that really good running back that also graduated. Yeah, Trelladee.
Starting point is 01:26:25 But the next year, they went 8 and 5. And it's like 14 and 0 to 8 and 5, that's a big dip in just one year. Yeah, yeah. We're talking about Cam News. Think about the quarterback room at Florida, though. Tebow and Kim Newton I know Pouncy bros
Starting point is 01:26:43 But you could have You didn't have to throw the football at Florida If you just kept both of them Yeah On that laptop man Damn On that laptop Damn
Starting point is 01:26:54 Had to be a Dell Dynasty Had to be a Dell And it's funny You know Eagles fans are probably like Oh you didn't have Like they're probably picking out a year To where Jalen did have like
Starting point is 01:27:03 A Yeah I mean that's Still hard Jailin did go to the Super Bowl before he had A.J. Brown and Devante Smith, so. Yeah. Yeah. I still like, to me, it's, it's Cam Newton. Cooper Cam.
Starting point is 01:27:23 Coup, R. Coop. Cooper Comstock. Ooh. All right, let's get to the Broadway episode. Thank you guys for joining the boys. Starting point is 01:27:46 Make the right play, call an audible, and switch from dry toilet paper to wet, extra large dude wipes. Why? It's simple. Wetter just cleans better. And dude wipes are wet and extra large so they clear, never smear your rear. So when you've got to go number two, be sure to bring the number one product and clean. Dude wipes. Starting point is 01:28:40 call it. And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, for people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 01:28:59 And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Starting point is 01:32:02 Also a man that Noah would ever talk shit about. Ever. Ever. We'll get to that later. Whatever say anything bad about. We have space for that. We have space for that and a little bit. And also from Arizona.
Starting point is 01:32:12 Do you know that? Yeah. I did not know he's from Arizona. Yeah. I know his brother was on the Huskers for a moment. That's right. Was really hoping he'd bring us back to superstardom. You were hoping for a Brock Purdy in a huss your uniform?
Starting point is 01:32:26 Because Brock was spinning it and I'd see Chubbapurdy. Okay, let's see what this kid's got. Thinking that we're going to go. This is where we make our national championship run. Yeah. I want to say he was 20, 22? Yes. Yeah, 2020.
Starting point is 01:32:37 Was that when we were the greatest three-win team in college football? Could have been. You guys are the greatest almost team of all time. 2021, you missed it by a year. That was probably Scott Frost's last hurrah. Last hurrah. Yeah, last hurrah. Dude, not since we're kind of on the college thing.
Starting point is 01:32:52 How was high school recruiting for you? I mean, for me, it was all last minute. Same thing. I was like still the guy that, I don't know if I hit a gross spurt late is what you want to call it, but I was just overlooked. And the last five weeks before signing days when, and I got the offers coming through. So I take like five trips in a row and then decide and sign.
Starting point is 01:33:11 No shit. It was speed dating. My boy, speed dating out of here. I mean, it was so random. It was Boise State, Iowa State, Alabama, Texas A&M and UCF. Did Alabama and A&M offer? Yeah, yeah. But it was more like, you know, A&M was legit.
Starting point is 01:33:24 But the Bama offer was like, hey, we need a guy to fill up this roster. It was like a couple weeks after Tua threw that touchdown on the Natty. So like, they didn't have anyone like, you know, the sign. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah. Hit me with the names again. It was A&M, Alabama, Iowa State, Boise State, Boise State, UCF. UCF, yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:43 BYU. No, not BYU. No, sir. I don't know why I thought BYU. No. I wasn't really listening to. I actually was a tip of coffee burnt my mouth pretty hard. I was kind of in a blender myself, so I do apologize.
Starting point is 01:33:55 Why Iowa State over A&M? I mean, at the time, dude, like Jimbo Fisher just got to A&M. Matt Campbell had been in Iowa State, and I just loved what Matt Campbell stood for like he had this vision of like you know you're playing big 12 football power 5 you know they're like the the sleeper you know kind of program i was like do i want to go somewhere and do something for the first time like my high school that i went to they weren't known to be good or anything and then growing up i was like i'm going to go there and change that culture and then win we went to the state championship game we lost but like took it to a new height and same thing with
Starting point is 01:34:29 iowa state i wanted to do that and uh so i chose campbell yeah because a and m i know just back from our recruitment, like in 08 and stuff, like A&M, pre-NIL, like, you're set up pretty nice on campus with like an apartment. Yeah, you had a nice setup. You're not like in dorms, really. Like you have a pretty red carpet experience. And you had the opportunity to go to A&M's campus? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:51 No, I checked it out. It was pretty sweet. Like everything about it. It feels like a little bit of a coldish, right? I was waiting for someone else to say that. Like you get there and it's like all the time. Everything's the same color. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:00 Yeah. It's different. I don't really know, you know, obviously the Aggie ring stuff. and, you know, when you graduate, you get Aggie Ring and Aggies help Aggies, like, it was just like, all right, what's going on here? Yeah. But I have nothing against them. Like, yeah, but that's just sort of, you know, my feel when I was there.
Starting point is 01:35:15 How was your journey at Iowa State? You mentioned Coach Campbell. I would love to hear stories about him because I feel like just as an outsider with Iowa State not being like a prominent team that's covered year and and year out, you always kind of hear the rumors about Matt Campbell and what he's done at that program. Dude, he's the most loyal guy, you know, I've ever met. You know, he was a guy that went to a small D3, Mount Union and then just like new guys there and then brought them to Toledo. They won a lot of games there.
Starting point is 01:35:41 Then they went to Iowa State and he created this culture there. And yeah, for all these years, everyone's like, dude, he's going to get picked up by all these teams and dude that. He was getting thrown a lot of offers, you know, to go out to USC and all these other like NFL teams. And year after year, he just kept denying it and saying, no, I love this program and I want to take it to New Heights. And I got dudes here that, you know, I'm not even just trying to help them with football, but with life. like Campbell's like a father figure to so many guys. They know that he recruits and that come through that program. So just a loyal dude.
Starting point is 01:36:09 Everyone loves playing for him. He's not about the money. All he cares about man is raising his kids right. Being a family man, a father figure. He's got an amazing family. So like I, dude, he's the man. I hope to be like him one day. When you were going to be a quarterback for him, your senior year and stuff,
Starting point is 01:36:25 like was he getting offered to go to different places at that time? Yeah. Oh, yeah. And what are your conversations like? with him when you're probably like, hey, I hear what you're saying, but it's kind of, it's probably hard to turn these down. Are you actually going to be staying here for? Yeah, I mean, for him, you know, he had a couple, you know, one year. I think the Lions was like a big one for him. And then my senior year, I was leaving. I was out the door and we met with him after my senior
Starting point is 01:36:50 night. And he was crying pretty hard our senior night. And everyone's like, all right, like, what's going on? You know, like, you could tell there was something going on, like he was going to leave kind of thing. Met with him the next day and I think USC offered him something legit before Lincoln Riley. And so when they offered him some stuff, he was just deciding on whether to go. He's from Ohio. He's a Midwest guy. But I actually brought my dad with me the next day when I met with him. And we talked. I was like, dude, my dad was in my life. Like he coached me up, ground balls, all the meeting. Like my dad was with me. And like he was there. And I'm so grateful for that. And, you know, he was talking about out in L.A. It's just a different world, you know, compared to the Midwest and where he's used to and being in his kids' life and stuff. It would just be a different kind of environment. And not knocking USC, California, anything. I'm not knocking anything. It's just, it's different. And so after that, like, he was crying and, like, we all were going through emotionally and stuff. But he, you know, after that, he decided, you know, I'm going to stay, Iowa State. I'm not saying I was the determining factor in that. But I think just gave him a little perspective on, you know,
Starting point is 01:37:55 being a father, what matters, raising your kids. He could do that at Iowa State and names Iowa. Man, that's awesome. That is. You're lucky to have a coach like that. Yeah, who doesn't just look at a dollar sign and be like, okay, I'll make the next jump. Because obviously we all have selfish thinking at some point and being like, yeah, this would be awesome to get X, Y, and Z.
Starting point is 01:38:11 Do you know what number? Do you have an idea of what number do you? I have no idea. Yeah, he didn't tell me all that. He was just saying there was an offer. Probably close to whatever Lincoln Riley was getting. Probably, yeah. You mentioned like being in high school and then choosing to go to a high school
Starting point is 01:38:23 because you wanted to change the program. You go to Iowa State because you want to be a guy that changed the program. What a how to, have you always been like that? Or is that like, you know, something you learn like, okay, if I want to make a huge mark, this is how I got to do it. Like what, what happened for that to happen? Dude, growing up, like my family and I, we always talk about it. I always wanted to be on like the worst teams, like just to show everybody.
Starting point is 01:38:43 Like, there's this little edge on me or something where I was like, I'm going to show everybody with what is dealt, like what I've been dealt with. Like, I'm going to try to make something cool out of it. And that's been all the way back to, you know, peewee or, or whatever, like just growing up, like in the backyard, dude, I want to pick the worst kids, like our buddies that weren't that good. And I was going to go beat my brother and all his buddies and, like, just to prove a point. But same thing with high school.
Starting point is 01:39:05 Like, they were the highest division. They weren't that good. But I was like, dude, there's so many opportunities here to, like, go play good teams and, like, show people, like, what we're about and make a name for the school and stuff. So I don't know. I was drawn to that. Same thing, Iowa State. They play Power 5.
Starting point is 01:39:19 They're going to go to OU, Texas. We're going to play all these big schools. And, you know, they haven't been really known for winning games. but I wanted to help put them on a map. And so, like, my time there, we got to, I think, like, sixth in the nation at one point. And, like, we were just outside of college football playoff. Like, there's, we had our moments and they did pretty well there. But I was just excited that.
Starting point is 01:39:38 I was surrounded by good people and we can go make a name for ourselves in that school. So I've been attracted to that kind of mentality my whole life. You talked about playing the state championship. Obviously, being an Arizona cat myself. I'm interested. Who did you play in the state championship? We played Chandler High School. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:51 And they have, what, like, 15 guys going D1? Dude, the whole roster. Yeah, it's insane. It's like Chandler, Brofee, and there's like one other school, I think I'm missing. Hamilton. Hamilton. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:01 They always, like the highest division. They're always the guys that are just turning out cats over and over again. Yeah. Just the star set of roster where everybody's going. Yeah. Yeah. He's going to Miami. He's going here.
Starting point is 01:40:11 He's going to. Yeah. Yeah. So they're going to stay championship, huh? Yeah. Yeah. We got into the fourth quarter, lost by touchdown on those guys. No shit.
Starting point is 01:40:18 Yeah. We kicked an onside kick and we got it. But one of the kids on the opposite side of the field, like, ran a little early. It was off sides. Paddy bullshit. We had to re-kick it and then we didn't get it in those game. How would you, like you guys going back and watch that film,
Starting point is 01:40:32 did you see the kid going a little faster or started a little early? Like, slightly. Okay, so it was a questionable call. Yeah, it was Tiki Tiki Tickey Tick. Yeah, it was Tiki. Yeah, it was Tiki. Yeah, it was Tiki. Yeah, it was Tiki.
Starting point is 01:40:39 Yeah, it was Tiki. Okay. So you're thinking there was the Illuminati of High School Football in Arizona was like, we can't let this happen. Yeah. We can't let these underdogs take down out. Yeah. No, it was sad.
Starting point is 01:40:48 Going into your like going into the draft like what were you hearing the potential of going into the draft because you obviously have a hell of a senior year. You did what you did in high school. You're kind of doing the same thing at Iowa State. I guess what I'm trying to ask is there ever a point of you that's like you're just fed up with the bullshit that they're not looking at the body of work and measuring you just by tangible things. I mean, yeah. You know, it's tough, you know, as an athlete going into the draft like trying to see, you know, from an NFL team's perspective, like if you're good. or not and you have all these questions. You hear them talking about this guy's being compared to this quarterback and this is what his careers looked like as a backup or a practice squad guy
Starting point is 01:41:28 to getting cut after a couple years and then you start telling yourself like, dang, am I not that good? Like, am I, is that what my career is going to look like? So there's all these different kind of things you start thinking. But for me, man, it was my whole life, like we just talked about with recruiting. I was overlooked. I set all these state records and stuff and I never got one offer until the very last minute, you know, going into college, I was the backup, and I got an opportunity, and I rode with it. And so, like, learning from that experience, going into the NFL, I was just like, dude, I don't really care what people will say. It's how can I get an opportunity. You know, it doesn't matter how you get there. It's what you do when you get there. Like,
Starting point is 01:42:04 I just kept telling myself that and believing myself with that. And sort of similar. I got drafted last, like my college recruiting all came very last minute. I got an opportunity very last minute by getting drafted with the Niners and I was all right like let's just go make the most out of this opportunity so what was that like being drafted as mystery irrelevant the last pick in the draft it's kind of badass yeah dude what did you think you were going to go I thought hopefully you know like early day three um not really knowing when or what but um and then at the end you know the niners said hey like they called me before the seventh round started and like we got one more pick we're going to try to take you or safety and uh I was all right so I got the phone and I google it and I was like bro it's the
Starting point is 01:42:45 last pick. Like, you gotta be kidding. And so in that moment, I was like, dude, I could be Mr. Irrelevant this year, but I was laughing. I thought it was like comical. But, um, yeah, just overall, man, I was so juiced. And then when they said my name on TV, dude, my whole family, like, screen, like I was the first overall pick. It was fun. Let's fucking go. Dude, they say like when you get, like, towards the end, like you'd rather be a free agent than Mr. Lent. Was your agent saying that to you at all? Like, hey, you get to pick where you get to go and kind of manipulate the situation. He was back there. Yeah. He's back here. Yeah. This boy shout out. Kyle. It is like, hey, it's almost better to
Starting point is 01:43:15 I drafted and go in the seventh round. Because at least you get to pick your spot. Yeah, three people try to draft. Will in the seventh round? He said, no. Yeah, I opted out of the draft. He's going to take me in the eighth. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:43:25 You know, I'm not taking any more phone calls. We're just, we're shutting it. Please, we'll give you about $10 million. Like, guys, please, you sound embarrassing. Team may choose me, I'm choosing the team. Right, exactly. You've always dictated your own career, buddy. I'd love you for that.
Starting point is 01:43:37 But did you guys have that conversation? I mean, if you want to jump in, you're more than welcome to. Yeah. Yeah, I guess a great question for an agent when you got guys who are going to be, you know, when the day's unfolding, they're probably going to go in either the seventh round or in drafted. Like, what is that conversation with your guys? Whether they're taking it hard or it seems like they're taking it well. Yeah. So I think you always want to be drafted, right? Because the team has all these guys on the board and they choose you to be a draft pick. They've got a plan for you. They've got a process for all that kind of stuff. So you always want to be drafted. But the flip side is if you're not drafted, You can renegotiate your contract after two years instead of three, which is a huge, you know, addition. Then you get to pick the situation as well, which gives you a little bit more flexibility. Are guys ever taking it wrong when you're kind of breaking it down for them? Like, are they ever in it mentally?
Starting point is 01:44:25 Like when the fuck have I not been drafted? Yeah. You told me this. Like, hey, buddy, I kind of said a few different things. Yeah. Right. And you have an expectation. You try to set the expectation for your clients going into the weekend.
Starting point is 01:44:38 So they have a great experience, a positive experience through the weekend to where, you know, end of the day, whether you're drafted last or at the beginning of the third day, you're still excited about, you know, the situations. Yeah. So, but I think for really all clients, even if they're drafted later than I thought, all of the pain and anguish and disappointment goes away and it all disappears. And just like Brock said, you celebrate like you're the first big in the draft because you were drafted. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:02 And so that's really cool for guys. Getting family juiced up. I know we're starting to lead into the NFL, but I do want to bring us back to college for a second. What's with you in the month of October? Are you obsessed with Spooktober? Do you love Halloween? Yeah, I mean, everyone just called it Brocktober and I was just riding with it. I was all right, we can't lose.
Starting point is 01:45:21 You got to whatever bars in town that Friday night. You know, it is October. Your boy might cook. I don't know what my stats are in college in October, but I'm pretty sure it's like crazy. I think only have like two losses or something. Yeah, 16 or two. You know the stats. I was a lot.
Starting point is 01:45:34 I was like 16 and 2. I do remember the two losses. That's why I remember that. But 16, yeah, that's crazy. Who were those two losses, too? Oklahoma State, I think both of them. Cowboys. I think so.
Starting point is 01:45:48 Yeah. I mean, they're not like, it's like, that's not the team you want to see the lost. I know. But I got, I was two and two against those guys in college, so I did get them.
Starting point is 01:45:57 But yeah, the two in October, I'm like, bro. God, that's your mind. I wish I was 18 and no in October. Yeah, that would have been a hell of a stack. Are you, like, at what point is everyone being like,
Starting point is 01:46:07 yo, October comes around. We're not worried about anything. Like the fans. Yeah, no, dude The most sold-out games We're in October We're like, We're gonna enjoy these bad boys
Starting point is 01:46:15 We're gonna take these dows We're gonna keep our walking That is crazy right Yeah, that's cool You big Halloween fan Eh, ish I like the movie Halloween Like Michael Myers and all
Starting point is 01:46:24 Phenomenal But there's also like seven Yeah, I know The original I know, no, I agree The old ones dude Yeah I got this nostalgia
Starting point is 01:46:32 With like my dad Like it's Halloween We're gonna put on Michael Myers Yeah But the new ones Those old slashes I thought the one
Starting point is 01:46:38 That came out in Was it 2020? was when the second one came out. Halloween kills. Yeah. And that's where, because that's when they brought Jamie Lee Curtis back. She did one of their movie.
Starting point is 01:46:47 Right. But the original Halloween, like James Carpenter who wrote that, he was like, this is like the first movie he like approved essentially. Yeah. Since the original Halloween came out, I thought that was awesome.
Starting point is 01:46:56 But it was definitely like a part two. Yeah. And then Halloween ends. Rund our lives. Runed our lives. We got excited. We got together. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:05 Playing the theme song all the way to the theater. Yeah. This is it. This is it. Doom do. And we're just in the car. Yeah. I was hoping we probably see him in the distance.
Starting point is 01:47:13 Honestly. And we go to see it. Buddy, it was terrible. Yeah. Terrible. Yeah. I still want justice. We got it.
Starting point is 01:47:20 We'll get it back. Yeah. But so October, you rip. What's your record in the NFL in October? That I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:28 We got to bring it back. We got to bring that October. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We'll get some graphics going. Paint a picture for what it was like going in the building your rookie year. Like what situation you're in?
Starting point is 01:47:37 I want to see. Trey Lance was there. Yeah. Who else was in the quarterback room? Nate Sudfeld. Nate's a old. Suddy. Yeah, dude, Suddy's the best.
Starting point is 01:47:44 Love Nate. It was those two guys, and then they brought me in, and then they also had Jimmy on the side. They didn't know, like, what was going to happen when Jimmy. Was Jimmy injured, or was that more contract? It was just more like, the organization was like, hey, we're going with Tray Lance. You know, we're going to build them up, and obviously we got to, Jimmy was still under contract, but they were, I think, trying to trade and trying to make something else happen, you know, for his career and all that. But at the very end, Nate Sudfeld and I were, like, competing. They brought Jimmy back in and then released Nate, and I was the third guy.
Starting point is 01:48:17 So that's just sort of how the final roster. What is it like for you, like what you're learning about how much of an uphill battle it is for you as, you know, a seventh round pick going in your rookie season? Yeah. And competing with Nate Sutfeld and thinking like, okay, am I competing for a practice squad job? Like, this is going to be, it's a little different than what I expected. No doubt. I mean, it's nothing's given. I mean, I know you guys all know that, but every rep matters.
Starting point is 01:48:40 I got two reps at the end of each period, and that was my opportunity, like, every day to show the organization and my teammates, like, what I was made of. And so Nate got a lot of the second string reps and whatnot. And I absolutely love Nate Seltfeld. I know I said that, but nothing but respect. He took me in, man, taught me a lot of things, just how the NFL works and stuff. He was great. And so did Trey.
Starting point is 01:48:59 But, you know, that's just the NFL. You got to compete. And, you know, for me, it was I got to go out there. and I have nothing to lose exactly. Like I just got to go show these guys that I can go out there and rip it and make the right decisions and be a guy who if something happens, I can go in and be trusted. And I thought I showed that throughout, you know, practice
Starting point is 01:49:19 and some preseason games and stuff. And I know I've said this before, but like before the first preseason game, we're at practice, practice ends. We come in and I could see like Fred talking to Trent. And I like, for some reason, like I just saw them talking. And then I saw Fred say, like, I can't wait to watch this Purdy kid at the preseason game tomorrow against the Packers. And I was like, shoot. I was like, okay.
Starting point is 01:49:42 Like at that point, my head has just been down. I'm just trying to do good at practice and all that. But I was like, all right, they are noticing, you know, like the starters and the guys. Like, they're seeing something. Two dogs. Yeah. That's fucking awesome, man. So for me, I was like, all right.
Starting point is 01:49:54 And I just got to go out in the game and under the lights in front of everybody and execute and saw that chip on my shoulder, bro, and not look back. Yeah. Obviously, that's a moment where you. You're feeling it from your teammates and your peers. It's a really fucking cool feeling. When in the coaching staff was a turning point to where it's like, okay, I am. It seems like I'm turning a couple heads right now. I mean, just after practice and stuff, watching the film, like, Grasy and Kyle, like, coming in and going over it with all the quarterbacks.
Starting point is 01:50:20 And just like rep after rep, like being consistent, accurately, ripping it in tight windows. Like, all those little things. I was like, they never really said much, but I was like, they got to be thinking something. Like, no, like, yeah, you know, but I just never, I didn't know. Yeah. And, but, you know, you still have to go through another practice and finish camp strong and play well in the preseason games. And then when the roster comes down to it, you find out. And for me, I had no idea. No one said anything to me. I was just trying to get a feel through my teammates and stuff. But all of that honestly didn't matter. What mattered was me going out the next play and doing it again. And so it wasn't until, you know, the roster came out. And then. And they're starting, well, actually, they were starting to make cuts and call guys into Kyle's office. And so we're in the quarterback room. And then Kyle opened up the door. He goes, hey, Brock, you grab your stuff and come talk to me.
Starting point is 01:51:13 I was like, bro. I was like, am I getting cut? Like, I was like, dang, dude. And then he goes, no, I'm kidding. He set your stuff down. He's like, congrats, bro. And then dat me up. No shit.
Starting point is 01:51:21 Yeah. I was like, dude. My heart was just pounding. But I don't know. All those moments were in. It's a while because, like, oh, they're starting to coach me a little bit harder right now. because you kind of just don't know. And for everybody, like, listening and watching,
Starting point is 01:51:35 it's like when you're at the bottom, you're kind of just, you know, you realize, like, you're kind of, there's zero focus on you. If you work out, great. If not, like, you are who we thought you were. In those moments, I remember being in the linebacker room before our first preseason game at Tennessee.
Starting point is 01:51:49 And my linebacker coach, he wasn't super into me at the time. And he was like, will they want to see you run with the twos? Apparently, you've been doing some pretty good things. And I'm thinking, I mean, that sucks to hear from my position coach. But that's when it's like, okay. I don't even doing some good stuff. I don't see it.
Starting point is 01:52:02 They see it. So I guess we're going to roll with that. Yeah, but you're just sitting there. And whether or not, like, you know, it is all about going to the next plane and stuff. But it's like an expectation you have on yourself to where you're thinking about it just nonstop. Like, what are these motherfuckers thinking? Like, am I going to have a shot? My family's at me up.
Starting point is 01:52:17 My friends are hitting me up. What are they thinking right now? Yeah. There's a lot of, there's a lot of anxiety. But that is, that's sick. Talk about Trent, though, a little bit because as an office lineman, he's our goat. Like, he is maybe the greatest to ever play the game. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:52:30 He is amazing. How does it feel when he's in the game compared to when he's not in the game? And I know that's a tough question because he's going to already tell how polished you are in the media. So now you're thinking to yourself, well, I want to give Trent a compliment. But I also know that if I say I don't feel as comfortable in the backup feels a certain way. But just Trent. Yeah. Trent, dude.
Starting point is 01:52:48 Did I not nail that? Yes. Right? Yes. It's tough. I get it. I promise you're going to be all right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:52:53 Trent, though. Yeah. The safety, the security blanket of knowing like 10 other guys have to me, including 10 guys have to worry about it, I know I don't have to worry about that. That's got to be a hell of a feeling. Dude, I mean, so far my career, it's been like that. Last year, he got hurt towards the end, and it's just different. You know, obviously, whoever gets thrown in, I trust and we're good, but having Trent in as a Hall of Famer, dude, you watch his run game and the stuff, the moves that he does, it's like, what the heck? When he's cutting off a guy, he just, like,
Starting point is 01:53:21 push him down real quick. Yeah, and it's like, he does, like, we always call it, like, he does this ninja move thing and then pushes guys in the ground, and then outside of that, just pass pro, and stuff like he's locked down over there and so year after year for me like blind side as a quarterback right-handed quarterback knowing that my left side do is good like it's i can't even describe to you like i don't know it's like a sense of freedom but um just overall what he does and obviously seeing 23 run behind him and i'll hand the ball off as to look back and see him split like two guys and um just opens up everything and i don't know it goes hand in hand with everything if you can run the ball you get the past game so much better and so the fact that he's
Starting point is 01:54:00 so good and dominant in the run game, year after year, because he's getting older, obviously, and we always ask ourselves every year when he comes back with like, is Trent going to be the same? Is it still the Trent William? Like, dude, year after year, it's, he's the same guy. And anyways, absolutely love him for me to be a quarterback in the NFL and have that guy blogging for me, dude. Didn't get any better.
Starting point is 01:54:18 When you're in the middle of the season and he gets an ankle or something like that, during the week on that Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, you check it in that training room, be like, hey, so how else? Yeah, I'm always checking in. You got to make sure. Hey, yeah. I know how people all the boys you do? but how's Trent going back now?
Starting point is 01:54:31 Is he gonna be all right? Yeah, no, he's my little safety blanket. I'm like, I need my binky and I need him to be in the game. But no, he's, and it's funny, he'll go through an injury or whatever, and then he's real with me. He's like, Brockie, like, I'm good, I got you, just wait. Like, Sunday comes around, I'll be good. And he's right, he goes out there and kills it.
Starting point is 01:54:48 But the other games where he's like, Brokey, like, it's probably not it. I was like, dang it. Yeah, you're not sleeping as good. Things aren't going as well. Yeah. No disrespect to the backup guy. We love the backup guy.
Starting point is 01:54:58 I'll put that in for you. But yeah, did you Trent? You know, Brock probably drives in because Trent drives like a different vehicle to work every day. But you know, Brock probably drives in. He's like, hey, I saw you pulled up in the Bentley. You feeling pretty good? Yeah. Got to feel nice about that.
Starting point is 01:55:12 That's the healthy car. Yeah, that's the healthy car. I'm playing that correctly. And it is October. I go off in October. Drake when you were pulling up. Yeah. Seems like you're in a good mood.
Starting point is 01:55:21 Yeah. Dude, last year he got a driver and we were all joking around. We're like, dude. And he just like comes right in and he's holding a baggie and all these things. He's like, bro, did your driver give you all those snacks and stuff? And, like, he gets DoorDash basically to work every day. Like, we just, like, joke around, like, Trent just pulls up in a new car, new driver. Yeah, I'm like, what is going on?
Starting point is 01:55:42 That's, like, another world. Were you insecure about giving him a Toyota for Christmas? Yeah, I felt like, I literally went up to him and I was like, hey, dude, like, you know, Toyota's helping us out. We got 10, 10 of them for all the alignment and stuff, like, just curious. Like, do you still want yours or not? And he's like, hell yeah. He was like, I'll paint that thing pink. And I'm like, all right.
Starting point is 01:56:02 Okay. But then sure enough, he forgets about it somehow. Everyone gets their cars and stuff. And they're like, Trent, like, what did you think about yours? And he's like, uh, he's like, Brock, what did I get? A truck or a car? And I was like, bro, Trent doesn't even know. That is so funny.
Starting point is 01:56:16 And then George is like, bro, like George is trying to, you know, bargain to get Trent's Toyota. George's like, bro, he was on a couple weeks ago talking about it. Yeah. Yeah. So I still don't know if Trent's driven it or not. So do you're, Have you thought about lobbying for receivers and running backs to give you a present for Christmas?
Starting point is 01:56:34 That is a good point. I mean, think about it. You're facilitating the ball without you. There is no stats for them. Man, as long as I just keep catching the ball, getting yak, that's all I get out there. That's all that matters for you. That's it.
Starting point is 01:56:45 That's a good point. Take us back to the moment to where you're taking over the job for trade lance. Obviously, there's a lot of noise around when that situation's happening because he gets traded to Dallas. everybody's in, everybody spazzing out because they trade away a first round pick. They're going with you and trust you. Everybody has a lot of question marks around that. Take us back to that moment and what you were feeling and how you were kind of handling,
Starting point is 01:57:09 all different noise and just trying to focus on. I just need to go out there and play my brand of football. I mean, it's tough, you know, because Trey and I are tight, dude. And, like, absolutely, like, we're boys and we're bros. And I know you guys, you know, when you're in the locker room and stuff, and you got guys that's your competition, like your boys, and everyone wants to make it out to be a big thing on whatever. But I wanted nothing for the best for him,
Starting point is 01:57:33 and I know he wanted that for me, but that's just how this business goes and all that. So when it did happen, we're about to play our preseason game against the Chargers and right before the game, like, they announced it. And, you know, didn't really know how to act or what to think. I was just like, man, I hope, you know, he can go to Dallas and compete and have a great opportunity.
Starting point is 01:57:52 You know, like when you grow with a guy and you're in meetings and the locker room and stuff. You just, you want the best for them. And so I wanted that. And so, but after that moment, it was just like, all right, like, obviously I was the guy at the end of the year before, tore my UCL, came back, and now I have to go prove it again this whole season. And so that's just where my mindset was at with that.
Starting point is 01:58:12 And I knew that I had a good team around me and I just got to go out there and rip it, win games, put together a good season. And we did, went to the Super Bowl, and that was that. But just try to keep it simple and not listen to the what, you know, people say, is he good enough? Is he not? That's always going to be a thing with me in the NFL, and I know that. So, um, yeah. With the UCL and then the, that offseason happening and then the whole tray thing going on, like, was there like a lot of noise of like, who should we start? Who should we not start? Yeah, uh, there was some things. Um, and honestly, I didn't even know,
Starting point is 01:58:44 like, what was going to happen. Um, my clear date was like right at the end of camp, right before the season started. Um, I had to go two practices on, one off, two on. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, where all the other quarterbacks are getting all the reps like for that practice that I wasn't playing. So like there was just there was a bunch of questions I think for all of us. Like will I be back? Will I be healthy by time season kicks off? We'll trade end up starting because of my arm like all the things.
Starting point is 01:59:09 I didn't know and so it really wasn't up until the very last minute where I was like, no, I'm good I'm good to play and was playing well in camp. So I mean, Niners made the decision to trade them. How hard was that recovery with the UCL? Dude, it was a grind. I mean, you tear it. What was that, late January, and then you get back for, what is that, first game in August or whatever, September.
Starting point is 01:59:33 And I feel like people just forgot about it, you know, like the fact that I literally had a surgery on my throwing arm and then came back and went all the way to the Super Bowl. Like, that year was a grind for me, dude. Like, I didn't stop. And right on the season ended in the NFC championship, the game, or the year before, getting the surgery, rehabbing every day, taking all the things, the vitamins and supplements,
Starting point is 01:59:57 and just trying to help my sleep out, all the things, dude, it's a grind. And so to be able to get back for the season and make it at the end, I know we lost and it sucked, but I was just like, dang, like, what a part of my story and testimony, like getting back. Like, that was, it was insane. So, yeah. Do you have a lot of moments where you were kind of doubting if you would still have the same ability. Yeah, I mean, I had no idea. Dude, this is my, like, you know, you talk about Tommy John and baseball and stuff with pitchers.
Starting point is 02:00:26 Like, I know they always say, oh, you come back stronger and stuff if it goes right. Like, you just never know. But for me, I was in, you know, uncharted waters with everything when it comes to surgery. I never had a major surgery like this. And for it to be on my throwing arm, I was like, dude, like, you know, I'm trying to get back in five, six months where other guys, Tommy John and stuff can take up to a year. and more. And so I'm trying to like push that timetable and put all the pieces together. And so
Starting point is 02:00:54 there's definitely moments like days in the training room and we're doing exercises where I was like, bro, this sucks. Like I can barely open my, my palm. Like how am I supposed to grip a football and then throw it and do it over and over again and win games? Like there's definitely moments where I thought that. But, you know, I was just trying to take it one step at a time. I'm faithful man. Trust that guy's got a plan and lean into that. So how is that? Who did your surgery, Eletrosh? No, Keith Meister in Dallas. In Dallas? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:01:19 And how long, what was, like, that process like? So, NFC championship game happens. Yeah. How soon are you in Dallas? Dude, I went like two weeks, I want to say later. And he's like, nah, like your arm is still inflamed. And he's like, you have to go to rehab to get the inflammation to go down and then come back and do surgery.
Starting point is 02:01:37 Which I'm sure was just a horrible feeling because you're just thinking yourself, how fast can I get back? And I can't start that process until surgery's over. Dude, that's when I was like, you know, sort of panicking. I was like, dude, we're just wasting time right now. Like, I tore it. And like, the next day, I was like, all right, are we flying there in two days and having surgery, this and that?
Starting point is 02:01:53 And everyone's like, hold up. Like, your arm, your ligament is in pieces. Like, you got to let it calm down so that when he cuts you open and does surgery, he knows what he's looking at and put it back together and all that. So when they told me that, like, no, you got to wait and go to rehab, then come back. I'm like, dude, there's no way. I'm not going to get back in time and this and that. So did you have to cross your mind?
Starting point is 02:02:13 I'm just staying in Dallas. So you didn't have to fly to cause him more inflammation? No, we asked that question. Like, you know, is the flying in the airplane and all not going to blow it up? And they said, no, like, you can do your rehab, get on a quick plane flight over and you'll be good. He has done it with pitchers all the time. So what's the functionality like when you, when you tear it? Obviously, you try to go back in the game.
Starting point is 02:02:32 We'll get that game in a little bit. But like between the time of after that game, you go to Dallas and then you finally get the surgery, like, are you able to like to move it? Like, how does it feel? How is it operating? Does it feel like kind of normal at times? But then other times you like move it a different way? Correct. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:47 I mean, grabbing stuff and I could like lift light things. I was fine with that. But the moment it went back, like when you stretch on that ligament, like it was just space opening up and it was just zing my whole arm. And so it was about a month of that, you know, and trying to get the inflammation to go down so that we could have surgery. So you're in the middle of February before you had that surgery? Correct. I don't know. I think March.
Starting point is 02:03:08 March. Yeah. March 10th or something. And in your mind, you're just thinking I've wasted a month. Correct. Yeah. At that point. And they were saying like six months is what you're going to need.
Starting point is 02:03:17 you know, to get back and then March 10th to whatever, like I actually came back a couple weeks early if you actually look at it. So how did you work through the process of like not pushing it so hard as opposed to like not doing enough? Like where'd you finding the balance? Because you struck me as a cat that's like you're going to put the work in. You're not, you know, the main thing be the main thing consistently. Yeah. But like when when you feel good and trainers like, hey, I'm just telling you might feel good now, but let's take a little bit of space here. Like how receptive are you to those kind of that kind of communication? No doubt. I mean at the time, man, it was it was about my career, not just that season.
Starting point is 02:03:49 Like I wanted to make sure that my arm healed right that I have, you know, enough. Like it was good when I came back 100% to go and compete and put good film on the tape and not just be out there, just early just to be out there. Like I wanted to make sure that I was taken care of even after the season that I could throw. And this is how I make my living. And so wanted to do it right. Obviously, I was going to do every little thing to speed up the process and all that. But I trusted in the trainers and everybody.
Starting point is 02:04:16 and we had a big collaboration with everybody, the surgeon, our trainers, everybody. And I trusted in our timetable, our plan. And I just went after that way. But when it comes to like sleep, nutrition, all that stuff, that sort of open my eyes into like, you know, what inflames the body, what doesn't, the foods and things that you put in, all of it. And so going through that, sort of open up my eyes with that, just with my career as a whole. But it's balancing that and not just trying to get back so quick and holding onto it tightly.
Starting point is 02:04:44 Like, that's where my faith comes in, man. like holding it loosely with, you know, God and just going hard with where he has me, but not trying to control it on my own. Like, whatever happens is going to happen for his reason. What from the nutrition sleep standpoint did you learn that you didn't know then that some kids probably listening to right now and probably going through an injury and might not know that you could share? Dude, like staying up late, blue light on your phone, like how bad that is for you.
Starting point is 02:05:09 And there's so many times like before bed, like I'd be on my phone. And I'd be like, I'm just check my phone. and then I'm on it for another 30 minutes, 45 minutes, hour. Yeah, it gets you, dude. Dude, that blue light is like so bad for you late and just your circadian rhythms and sleeping and all that. And so getting a legit eight hours of sleep, trying to read beforehand like a book or something to sort of get your body down.
Starting point is 02:05:33 And then just all the sugars and the toxic things. Like my wife, she's like one of those crunchy girls now. Like she has all like the healthy things and healthy foods. and like I'm talking everything, man, from flour to candy, like cutting out seed oils, all those things as best as you can and staying disciplined and you see the results. It's a crazy warm hole to go down, huh? Yeah. When you start to unlock the level of like health and you're like, okay, this is good.
Starting point is 02:05:57 Then you see like, oh, there's a whole other level here and it never really ends. Yeah. Have you ever looked at like Ben Greenfield or Andrew Huberman or anything like that? Yeah. Yeah. Those guys. Our kings. Our kings.
Starting point is 02:06:06 That was our thing. When we met, he came over from the Redskins. Like our whole thing was a kind of bill of buddy. So we do like Ben, was it Ben Greenfield's protocols? Yeah, Ben Greenfield was a lot of it, yeah. Yeah, like C. 157 was still legal back there. Yeah, which I wish you could have had. We were ahead of our time.
Starting point is 02:06:23 Ahead of our time. We just knew the game better than the rest. Yeah. Or there are people you're leaning on throughout this recovery process when times are down or low, like somebody you're on the phone with? I mean, obviously, like at the time it was my girlfriend and fiancee and now we're married. So her and then my parents, man, just. they always believed in me from being a late recruit to the last draft pick.
Starting point is 02:06:46 Like no one's been a bigger supporter in my life than my family because they've always seen what I've done and always wanting like the not so good and making it something great. Like they've always have been the ones that give me confidence and believe. So just throughout the process of that, my agent was awesome. Talking to like pastors and mentors and stuff just to understand what's most important in my life. And so that all of that combined, man, help me. It makes me who I am. That NFC championship game was wild.
Starting point is 02:07:15 Yeah. Quarterbacks dropping. Chris McCaffrey's out there under center. What were some of the game playing strategies like after? Who was the backup to you? It was Josh Johnson. Josh Johnson. He goes down.
Starting point is 02:07:25 Like, is there ever, like, are those talks happening of you just getting under center and taking snaps so at least there's a look or a threat of possibly throwing the ball? Are you just running the offense as well as you could? Yeah. I mean, I literally went back in and I was under center. handing the ball off and stuff and just I would never forget like handing the ball off when it was a run to the left with my right arm and it just opened up my UCL bro that sucked and then Kyle called two screen passes and so I threw those like grenades and it's just all of it it was just tough in general
Starting point is 02:07:56 but Kyle said the same thing like we're going to get you under center and hopefully try to set up screens as best as we could outside of that man who's praying that a run would break and Christian can go 80. And if that didn't work, do a reverse or hand the ball off to Christian and then him throw it deep to nobody. So it was the whole situation, man, was just tough in general. So now we got the three quarterback ruling because of that. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:08:21 Because you guys had such a year. And for that, to go down in that fashion, suck. Because that was the game. It was like, whoever wins this game is going to win it. Yeah. Those two teams, the rosters were most put together. But it's hard, man. It's not every team like the 2024.
Starting point is 02:08:35 24 of Michigan Wolverines. You can't just turn off passes. And able to have that level of success. You know, we saw Ohio State, we saw Alabama. Like it's, it takes a special breed of human. All right? That's a great point. It's a great point.
Starting point is 02:08:51 What was you, how confident were you and Christian McCaffrey throwing passes if you had to? Dude, first of all, Christian's one of the best athletes, you know, out there. And I really didn't try to throw with them too much. I was yelling at the TV. I know. I thought we were going to do more. But, yeah. Yeah, the other day we're at practice and stuff, and we're throwing just me and Christian.
Starting point is 02:09:08 I'm like, dude, like Christian's got a good form, like a quarterback and he's got, you know, the muscle to go deep. So I was actually curious why we didn't like do more. Dude, I know. Like, Shane ain't what do we do. We got to throw the ball. Stop this triple reverse bullshit. In an NFL game being like, guys, hope is lost. I know we say fight for 60 minutes, but it's over.
Starting point is 02:09:29 Yeah. Christian, get out there and have some fun. Yeah. Go out there. Tell you the boys to go deep. And we'll see what we can work out around here. Yeah. And you get Trent Williams at the end pissed off, just trying to fight guys at that point.
Starting point is 02:09:40 Just crazy. Picks out a small guy, just bodybags him. Is this the same year? Is this the same year you guys played Cleveland? And Cleveland was spouting off and Trent tossed that poor young man to the side? What was that the next year? No, that was the next year. You're talking about pregame?
Starting point is 02:09:55 Yeah, pregame. Yeah. Because you guys were what, like, undefeated at that point? Yeah, we were 5 and 0. 5 and 0 and drop three in a row. Yeah. But that was the start of it where Cleveland was. was kind of mouthing off a little bit.
Starting point is 02:10:05 I'm thinking to myself watching that pregame, like Cleveland, what the fuck you guys doing? It's always good when you got Trent on your side. Yeah, Trent just goes over, grabs, yeah, look at this. Who's, who's doing the money thing? Is that IU? And then Trent's like, bro. Tren just looking for that smoke.
Starting point is 02:10:21 Clean's it. Bang. That poor kid, you know when he got pushed to the ground. He's like, oh, party's over. Parties over. It's over. So fast. Who started that?
Starting point is 02:10:29 I can't remember. I know Debo and VA love getting, pretty psyched up before games and talking. Yeah. Where are you during the scrum? Are you in the middle? I wish. He's in the prayer in the shower.
Starting point is 02:10:41 Yeah. What was it like losing Debo this offseason? I mean, it sucks, dude. He's my boy. You know, I love Debo. Day one, he's always on my back and believed in me when I got in. I didn't really know how the guys were going to take it when I did get thrown in. Jimmy went down.
Starting point is 02:11:02 I was like the last quarterback. and Debo, man, was nothing but just great to me, dude, building me up and just give me confidence, man, in games, you know, we fed off each other's energy and building each other up. Like, it was awesome. And over the last couple years, same thing. So when you loot, I mean, we created just a great relationship. He's my brother. But, again, that's just how this business goes. And I hope he goes to Washington and kills it and does great. I mean, anytime you get Debo the ball, man, you never know what can happen. So he's an explosive player. exciting to watch. He's got a lot of great ball in front of them too.
Starting point is 02:11:37 We had George on a couple weeks ago. We brought up a clip that's resurfaced during, or not resurfaced, but surfaced during OTAs of Depot and he's catching some slack for being a little heavy and not running very fast. You see that clip? Yeah. What do you have to say about that? I mean, what's your thoughts on that? What do you have to say? Yeah, put me on the spot. No, dude. Um, because George's answer was, like, these are routes. He's like, these are routes. He's like routes on air. He's like, that's not, that's not saying. That was probably walkthrough and stuff. Yeah. People don't. They see things online because the media can come out and videotape anything.
Starting point is 02:12:07 And you could be in a walkthrough going half speed and all that and they blow it out of proportion. So I know when the season comes rolling around too and, you know, Debo is going to have a chip on a shoulder this year for sure. And he's going to be just fine. So I don't buy into any of that stuff. When the media does come out and says negative things that they probably have no idea what they're talking about, how does the team, the locker? Do you guys rally around that? You kind of just ignore the noise. No, I mean, I don't really think anyone, you know, buys into that.
Starting point is 02:12:34 kind of stuff. It's being said and guys might hear it and whatnot, but like I said before, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the next play, the guys around you, are you guys in it together? Are you not? Like, it's all it matters. If you're buying into what people say on the outside, man, you know, it's just, it's honestly just wasted time, wasted thinking. So I know you guys know that from playing. Like, yeah, things are always going to be said. That's the job. Yeah, you always are going to hear some just naysayers and haters just spewing nonsense. Yeah. You've dealt with a lot of, With a lot of that, a lot of noise in your career.
Starting point is 02:13:06 There's one statement that I have pulled up that was said about you. I have, the quote is, I have from, the quote says, the quote says, I have from a reliable source told me back in January that Brock Purdy's not the guy. He's not the guy. He's not as good as people think he is. I was just told that he has aliens around him, and that's why he looks so good. But once there's enough film out there on him,
Starting point is 02:13:36 people are going to know how to beat him. That's what I've been told, and that's what has happened over the last three weeks. Sheesh. That was a quote about Brock Purdy, I'm assuming, after the three-game losing streak when you guys started off 5-0 and then rolling the Cleveland and somebody had some choice words.
Starting point is 02:13:52 That's crazy. Yeah, I think it was, you said that we know how that feels as players. I actually think it was from an ex-player. Really? He might be sitting to my left. Shut up. You said that, bro? What a tool
Starting point is 02:14:07 Can I just Can I get five? Can I get 30? Yeah, go ahead. That's a strong, like just trying to remember a bad thing. That's like when Bill Burrow literally has a bit about this about just reading a thing. Like, Your Honor, she said, no, stop, you're so bad. You're like, oh, she didn't say it like that.
Starting point is 02:14:26 Yeah. Like, I didn't say it like that. Those are the exact words that came into my mouth. That went viral. That was going viral. Yeah. I'll let Taylor. George had words for me.
Starting point is 02:14:35 Christian had words for me. And, yeah, somebody told me that's in the NFL that told me that. And being my first year not in the NFL, I took those words and I brought them to the K. Adams show. Dude. And then you guys went to the Super Bowl that year. Yeah. And I don't know if you remember that. I publicly apologized to you.
Starting point is 02:14:53 About him saying that? Yeah. Dude, no. Honestly, I don't. That's why I was just in shock when I heard it. God, because this is really nice. It's been good for both of us, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:15:01 I mean, this is, we should probably cut this episode. I'm out. Oh, shit. I'm playing. Yeah. In Las Vegas, I walked, I came up to your booth and I publicly apologized. And you're like, all man, all good. Don't worry about it.
Starting point is 02:15:14 Shoot, maybe, yeah. So I thought we were square. Okay. But we're not. That's kind of nasty. No, that is. That sounded way nastier than it is. When you said that, I was thinking of like a early 2000s like receiver or somebody
Starting point is 02:15:26 that's always on networks and stuff. Him? Oh, you were actually surprised. He's learning the exam. Yes. He's over drinking his water that he's on. And this is, dude. Oh, it's thirsty.
Starting point is 02:15:36 That's crazy. Thirsty for justice, and I'm glad we're getting it. That's all good. We're pulling this up for sure. Isn't that nuts? This is my pitch. Oh, that's your pitch. I don't know why Shum wants to bring this up.
Starting point is 02:15:46 So I should listen to this kind of criticism. This kind of athlete. Yeah. Bro. That's wild. He said this kind of athlete. He doesn't know my stats. We were arguing earlier on the episode of drops tomorrow that I was like,
Starting point is 02:15:59 hey, I don't know if you can claim elite athlete. Like, you were elite at blocking people and being a football player, but I don't know if you can claim it. elite status, athlete status with a throw like that publicly. No, yeah, that's, I agree with that. I can tell I've become the villain in your mind. Yeah, dude. That chip, you always talk about how I always bet on myself.
Starting point is 02:16:16 Like, I'm gonna, there's gonna be a photo of me in your locker. Brock's just thinking like he's a friend of the show and he knows this brand is a, a brand about being for the boys. Yeah. And here's that quote. He's like, that's not a very funny. That's not. I was going to say, that's nasty. Taking shots when they're out on three game losing street.
Starting point is 02:16:32 Can I say when I heard your reaction? Not saying at 5-0, three-game losing streak. Can I, by your reaction, of not knowing that was me, it's gotten 10 degrees hotter in different. Yeah. I'm sweating a little bit. Yeah. Because I'm wrong.
Starting point is 02:16:45 Right? I'm a wrong, nasty boy for saying that. Dude. Oh, really? What was this? What was this? Oh, you know? Who did this?
Starting point is 02:16:54 Bro. Okay, first of all. Oh. I wound up for like 20 minutes. I tried ripping it. Oh. It wasn't as bad. And it hit his glove.
Starting point is 02:17:02 That's not as terrible. Okay. Okay, let's play this game. What position do you play? Quarterback. How much did you just get paid contract? You know. 265.
Starting point is 02:17:12 Oh! And I know you know you don't play the social media game, but you probably saw Joe Burrow at Fanatics Fest. Yeah, I saw that. Yeah. So. Okay, yeah, thank you. Are you trying to help me out? I'm trying to help us out.
Starting point is 02:17:25 We're on the same team. We both had bad pitches. Yours is a little bit better than mine. No doubt, but different positions. This is more like what you would consider yourself an athlete? Me? Yeah. Yes, 100%.
Starting point is 02:17:34 Elite? 1% of 1% 1% 1 of 32 quarterbacks in league? For being real like athletic to dunk
Starting point is 02:17:41 and sprint and all that like honestly no I'm not I'll be real about it but like throwing and like the
Starting point is 02:17:48 the hand eye coordination things yeah I would say pretty elite Was it 40? 48? 48 what? 481?
Starting point is 02:17:56 He got you by a few millies What'd you get? 487 3807. Yeah before the San Francisco fans I was 309
Starting point is 02:18:07 I get it 309 but let's just make by guns be bygone I'm sorry it's all good is it actually because you strike me
Starting point is 02:18:14 as a guy that says it's all good but then you walk away and you get in the car with your age and you're like I can't believe you made me go on that show
Starting point is 02:18:19 with the guy and said that yeah I'll definitely him him like he would say that but just no me and Christian
Starting point is 02:18:26 me and George David they didn't say we're boys no I agree what you said dude like the show's
Starting point is 02:18:31 called bustling with the boys. Like we're supposed to be boys. Bro, that actually hurt. But we're boys. Like, hey, that's what we do. We forgive. We move on and we got each other's back. But you're not really forgiving. No, dude. You're saying the words, but I feel like I could see it in your eyes. No, dude. If you could turn the lights off in here right now and hit me, you would. No, no. No, no, dude. I would turn the cheek for a little bit. With the lights off? Yeah. No, dude. I think what's painful is you know he's being genuine about it. It just makes it hurt that much worse. Yes.
Starting point is 02:19:03 Yes. And I'm sitting in this pool of insecurity right now. I thought that was supposed to be a fun joke where I thought he would click in his head. Oh, Taylor said that. But really the fact that he was blindsided about it makes it hurt more. That's actually great. Dude, I'm not lying. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:19:17 I kind of want to stoke to fire more. But again, I thought. Stoke. I was just saying I thought he was more like he kind of knew. He already knew. Like coming on, he kind of knew. Because when I apologized. I'm like, okay, he's just playing into the joke.
Starting point is 02:19:27 But knowing that he's blindsided. I'm like, oh, damn. Yeah. him understanding this for the first time. It's almost like he's on step one right now. This is something that's in the past for us. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:19:37 But not for him. No, this is brand new. This is a fresh wound. Yeah. And we need to nurture that. He went on to take him to the Super Bowl and then get his quarter of a billion dollar contract. That's quarter plus.
Starting point is 02:19:50 Don't disrespect that 15 mil. That's just, yeah. No, it's all good. No, it's all good. When you read that out there, you're going to be like, so you hear a quote like this, you know, how do you, but then you just straight up pointed to him and he's over there go open down the water i was like what i should have gave but seriously you probably should have set that up better no no it's tough
Starting point is 02:20:11 it's all good but hey so what i when so monday media days at the super bowl when i say hey just wanted to apologize i think i remember that now yeah but i'm sure you're in a blender there's a whole bunch of stuff going on. Dude, that week was insane. He's thinking about it. Right. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:20:27 I guess I remember that. Because I apologize and you're like, oh, bro, it's all good. Don't worry about it. I'm thinking, we are square. Yeah. Because George didn't make Christian put the heat on him. Yeah. Big time.
Starting point is 02:20:37 Dude. Okay. That makes sense. I think I remember, but not 100 percent. So I'm sorry that you started sweating. What are you apologizing for? It's all good. He really took the high road.
Starting point is 02:20:49 He did. The highest. He did, too. Is your agent in trouble for making come on the show? Mm-hmm. he will have a conversation no that's all good what was that Super Bowl like
Starting point is 02:20:59 that's a bowl week yeah I mean exactly that dude I don't remember a whole lot that week just there was so much media meetings and you're trying to win the biggest game of your life and you're getting asked all these questions about you your life and everything and it was just a blur
Starting point is 02:21:14 but when I got to the game everything felt calm and pretty like all right I was there I was present it was actually one of like the more quiet games I've played in my life too like there's not like you're not like at a home site or anything um so just the in-between stuff it just felt sort of quiet but like dang dude I'm in the Super Bowl this is crazy um so I don't know it was a blur got to the game enjoyed it wish we would have won but um obviously like I'll
Starting point is 02:21:40 never forget coming that close and then not finishing so that's just the taste I got in my mouth now and a lot of us do still so yeah we interrupt this episode because we are brought to you by neutral vodka seltzer. Have you tried neutral? If not, you are missing out. Neutral is so much better than any other seltzer that I've tried. It's made with real vodka and real juice. And that's what makes it delicious. Starting point is 02:22:22 neutral. Again, let me just rip off these flavors. Black cherry, pineapple, orange, watermelon, lime, and strawberry. Neutral. Keep it tasty. Back to the episode. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 02:22:56 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 02:23:16 And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Hey, I'm Joe Rodano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out,
Starting point is 02:23:35 help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, I was ho from a hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Starting point is 02:23:56 Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream of chicken suit.
Starting point is 02:24:15 A cream. Cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the My Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. To hear more,
Starting point is 02:25:22 listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. You guys having a lot of success, like earlier in your career in this last year, you guys hit a lot of bumps in the road. What was this past year's experience
Starting point is 02:25:38 like compared to obviously you're used to kind of winning with San Francisco? Yeah, I mean, first two years, that's all I knew. Even before I got in, you know, we were four and four at one, point. And so I was like, all right, who are we? And then we got on a roll. And towards the end of my rookie year when we won all those games going into the playoffs, I was like, bro, this is what
Starting point is 02:25:57 San Francisco football is all about, like winning and finding a way no matter what we can be at any moment in the game. We're going to find a way. And same thing, sophomore, or the second year I'm up in the league, get to the Super Bowl. Like, that's just what we knew. And then last year, it's like, we sort of gave up some of these games and finished. And then our record started going down. And it's like, oh, shoot. And then we get to the end. And it's too. late to try to get back in for the playoff run. So that's when I was like, all right, this is different. You know, knowing that we got to get ready for like two more, two or three more games at the end of the season when, and we know we're not getting in the playoffs. Like, dude, this is different.
Starting point is 02:26:30 The vibe in the locker room, guys showing up to work wanting to win and like, it's just different. And so it was for as crazy as it sounds, I'm trying to take it and learn from it and make it a good thing, you know, obviously to stay away from that kind of feeling and all that. but it was definitely like a little wake-up call because teams go through that every year and I never have up until last year. And guys that told me, teammates have told me like, bro, trust me, the worst is like, you know, you get halfway through the season. You know you're not making it. Like try showing up then for meetings and holding guys accountable and like that's a dark place to be. You know, so.
Starting point is 02:27:04 Guys start talking about Cabo and all these things. Yeah, all the trips and week and week out. Thinking about their contracts. Are you going to be here next year? Like all that stuff, you know, where years past it was not. now like we're trying to make it to the Super Bowl we're right there we go to the Super Bowl everyone's all into the last game it's just it's different I never experienced something like that so what's the expectation going into this year I mean got a bunch of young guys free agency we lost some
Starting point is 02:27:28 dudes green law who funga just like guys that have been staples for our organization and stuff over the last couple years so when you lose guys like that it's like all right who's going to fill their spot what's that look like and we're gonna have a young team you know we got some young guys that need to step up and learn fast, you know? Yeah. We still got our core guys, though, Bosa, McCaffrey, Juice, George, Fred. So, like, we still got the guys to go and do it. It's just going to look a little different for sure.
Starting point is 02:27:56 Yeah, you guys got a squad. You guys have a fun lot of them. Yeah, good luck. Good luck. We've had a bunch of guys on Fred. You weren't able to be a part of that Fred episode, but Fred was, he was just a homie. Yeah. He was just great to be around.
Starting point is 02:28:07 Yeah. I had something, and then I forgot it. I probably still on a blender. about Brock hating me internally. You got it, man. Oh, Greenlaw. Greenlaw towards Achilles in the Super Bowl, correct? And then he tried to come back.
Starting point is 02:28:26 We had the same conversation with George, but I want to get your perspective on it. So the backup was playing, and then Greenlaw started to slowly integrate back in. And then the backup, I don't know why I'm forgetting his name right now. Campbell. Campbell, he ends up essentially quitting on the team
Starting point is 02:28:41 and has cut the next day. From your perspective, like what are you seeing? And how is leadership handling that? that you can close doors. Yeah, I mean, it was tough just because we sort of knew like the day or two before like he was starting to show some signs of like, you know, being upset about Greenlaw coming back and whatnot, which I mean, that's football, like guys get upset and whatnot.
Starting point is 02:29:01 But to then going out in the field and him just refusing to go in the game, that's when it blew our mind. Even myself, I was a quarterback, I felt it on the sidelines. Sometimes when things happen on defense or special teams, like we're so locked in our game plan on offense that it's tough to know what's going on with the team and stuff until you get in the locker room. And then all of a sudden, like, we're on the sideline here and like, dude, Devonre is refusing to go in. And we're all like, oh my gosh, like this is the NFL. I've never even heard it. Like my whole life in football,
Starting point is 02:29:31 there hasn't been a teammate that's refused to play. Yeah. Right. This is crazy. And so I didn't know that you could do that. Like what? And so, um, I don't know, leadership, our whole team. We were hurt, you know, like we, there's so much pride, man, when you're a nine or any team like you you take pride in the boy like going to war with your boys and winning games and going through stuff and then because one little thing doesn't go your way and a guy who's very well respected came back uh came into the picture and then you refuse to go in for the boys it's like you know come on are you really one of us kind of thing so uh it's tough i don't want to just hate on them and stuff or anything but um it's just it's a sucky situation overall but
Starting point is 02:30:12 I thought the way our organization, our team, everybody handled it, was right. Yeah. I'm sure there was a media frenzy, a bunch of people trying to get some clickbait on all that. For sure. Yeah. Did my rookie year, I think like the last couple of games, it was a two and 14 season. We sucked. And we had, I won't say his name, but we had a guy who was an office lineman that dressed for the game.
Starting point is 02:30:32 And I was hurt. I had a high ankle sprain after playing Philly. And so I'm watching him walk on the field. And he takes two steps in the field and feels like the grass shakes his head and and walks back in the locker room. Yeah. This is like after the 90 minutes, 90 everything. And so we had a backup left tackle and then we had another backup offense alignment as well after that.
Starting point is 02:30:51 And it was it was a JJ Watt feast fest. He went nuts. There was like a viral clip of him being like, I don't know who's on the left out. I'm here all day. I'm here all day. He had like four and a half sacks and tough. Scary. It's just, it's just tough when you come from like college.
Starting point is 02:31:07 I don't know how the NIL world is now, but like you're in college like everyone will die for the team. Like you guys are all for like a family. And then you go your first year in the league, and you're seeing guys that make these business decisions. You're like, I can't believe you're allowing this to affect you. And then you get older and you start to learn more about the game and stuff like that and why guys choose to do certain things. But it is crazy just seeing somebody just quit on the team.
Starting point is 02:31:27 Yeah, that's insane. Yeah, when I was taking over a spot, when I was first taking over the starting job and it was midseason. It was more of like this game. It was more of like packages. So like third down, you know, just different packages that I would come in on. And when the starter was catching. Yeah, third down, two minutes.
Starting point is 02:31:43 Oh, yeah. Come on. This is back of my young prime. But when we were at practice and I was getting implemented in with the starters, the guy who was the starter ended up just not going into practice and was basically just protesting in the back on not going in. Oh, you want to fucking put them in? Put them in then. We were in the locker room after practice. And this starter, this linebacker was threatening to fight our position coach.
Starting point is 02:32:07 Like they were in each other's face. It was one of the more awkward things. just to be a part of. And where are you during this? I stand there watching, feeling awkward. Feeling like you should probably say something because you're the guy they're talking about. Oh, yeah, I mean, everybody knew it was me.
Starting point is 02:32:21 I know, but you're sitting there and he's like trying to fight the position coach when really he wants to fight your ass. No, he ain't wanting to fight me. You know how it's like... He wants to kiss those hands. No, no, it's not that because we were boys, but it's more of like, you know
Starting point is 02:32:31 when you're in the business and coaches can be a little vague or they, you know, some guys, if they know they're going to get benched or they're going to, something, a situation is unfolding. They like to know, what to expect when coming in the room. So when he's kind of caught off guard by it,
Starting point is 02:32:43 it rubbed him the wrong way. So he has more of a problem with not being told or understand what the expectations. I'm sure he was bitter and upset about it. But you know how it's like, sometimes like coaches aren't the most upfront with where your position actually is. Yeah, they're not great of being transparent.
Starting point is 02:32:56 Yeah. About stuff because they don't know how to tell you and they don't know if it's for sure yet. By the time it's for sure you're, it's Thursday. Yeah. And the game's on Sunday. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:33:05 And it's like, it's a lot of time to get mad. Have you ever had a conversation with Trey about like after everything unfolded because you talked about like you guys are in competition with each other he handled it with grace which every pro should right where you lose a competition or whatever
Starting point is 02:33:17 it's just that's just part of the game but did you ever talk to him about like emotionally how he was doing ever? I mean not not so much that it was just we've just texted each other you know and like hey dude hope you're doing good like randomly you know throughout the season off season or whatever and hope you're doing good
Starting point is 02:33:33 this and that so it's really just been that we haven't really gotten to the details of hey how do you feel what this happened or whatever you know so uh we just stay away from that so yeah well i think we have time for like one more question we have our our bud light question you know how people would do anything for an ice cold bud light what is something that you would do anything for can't say family what's something that i would do anything for what have the guy said on this uh steve rnella said he wanted to make a documentary would not tell us a subject of the documentary on camera but he said
Starting point is 02:34:07 regardless someday in his life he wants to make that documentary George said Super Bowl Travis said Super Bowl which is a little selfish yeah but you've had three you're fucking like like yeah that's crazy Clay said the lottery
Starting point is 02:34:21 Clay said the lottery he wants more money Dale Jr said nothing Dale said I got it all that's crazy too though he did in such an elegant way have you seen the documentary about his dad dude
Starting point is 02:34:35 so good haven't watched it yet but I've seen a couple trailers it looks insane. I'm on the last episode. Really? It's that good? Tearjerker? No. Oh shit.
Starting point is 02:34:45 I'm always looking for a good cry. Not necessarily a tearjerker, but it is like it kind of hearing what Dale Jr. went through with like how Dale senior kind of treated the kids. It's like that is kind of like you kind of feel bad for Dale, but it's like just the Earnhardt family is just so awesome. So bad ass. So I just love it. Yeah. Fuck yeah.
Starting point is 02:35:06 So what you do anything for? Gosh. I mean, I know my Niners will be listening, so I've got to go to the Super Bowl. I'm glad you said that. Let's play a little game. All right. How far are you willing to go for a Super Bowl? Yeah, you got to give me some context.
Starting point is 02:35:23 So George, we can come at this from a lot of different angles. A lot of different angles. But we'll start with prison. If someone said, do you have a genie popped out of a bottle right? Popped out of a Bud Light can. And it was a Bud Light genie. And he said, I'll get you a Super Bowl. this year, but you have to go to prison for a whole year after that.
Starting point is 02:35:42 Would you still take the Super Bowl? Let's add a layer. So you go to prison for a year. Would you cut off your foot? Cut off my foot after? Yeah. No, I'm gonna be sure. Would you end your career if you ended on a Super Bowl this year?
Starting point is 02:35:58 Keep in mind the guarantee you have a contract. Let's stay. Super Bowl? Was this year five? Oh, dude, if you're saying that. 2010. Me. Wow.
Starting point is 02:36:07 What do you say about the career thing? Would you end your career? He didn't answer that question. Dude, I don't want to end my career because we can go win more. You know, like, why would I end the career just for one more when we could win multiple? But you're guaranteed to win this year. You being the Super Bowl MVP. All pro.
Starting point is 02:36:28 But your career is done after that. Or you can try to chase a Super Bowl for the rest of your career. Don't try to chase. Well, that's what you're, that's what you'll be doing. You can't sit here and guarantee you're going to have a Super Bowl. Bro, what did other guys say? I actually, I'm curious. This podcast really gained its footing when Mike Vrable said he cut his piece off for a Super Bowl.
Starting point is 02:36:47 Are you serious? Yeah, he said it cut it off. Head coached New England Patriots. Yeah. Mike Vrable. Been married 13 years? I'd say, yeah. He's also like he's not playing.
Starting point is 02:36:56 I feel like as a player. I feel like I can make an impact. He didn't mention that he won one as a player. He wouldn't? He won with the Patriots when he played. Yeah, yeah. But don't wait. If you ever meet Mike Vrabble,
Starting point is 02:37:06 you'll know how many years you played in the league. Yeah. No, I would go to prison for a year, preferably not under the situation of whatever you just said. But I would go to prison for a year, yes. I don't want to cut off any limbs because after that year I'd like to get back and hopefully go chase more.
Starting point is 02:37:27 Put a finger. How about this? I can go left hand for sure. Throughout your hand. In your career. Left finger, one of these. In your career, you can win one. one Super Bowl with the 49ers
Starting point is 02:37:37 or you can win three with the Seattle Seahawks bro that is the best trap question that is the word dude that is no I mean the Niners bro yeah you want to win one Super Bowl you want to be remembered for one really dude shut up
Starting point is 02:37:55 don't try to get me dude no we're not doing that bang bang all the way dude it's a bang all the way yeah what um that was a solid little change of pace that was a nice change of pace Because honestly, you're being ready one with three, right? He would for sure. But also respect.
Starting point is 02:38:09 He's polished. You know what he might be on something, though? Because I'd rather win one Natty with Nebraska than three with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Dude, yeah. Come on. Yeah. Crazy. Are we boys?
Starting point is 02:38:22 Or you're just trying to trap me, bro? That's him. Like, what we're doing? I've done my... I like to have fun. I like to have good, clean fun on this podcast. I love it. I respect it.
Starting point is 02:38:30 I stumbled. I stumbled before. You know? When, let's just say right now, the 49ers no longer exists a franchise. What's one team do you want to play for? 49ers don't exist. Yeah, who's your favorite squad growing up? Dolphins growing up, but not saying.
Starting point is 02:38:50 That's such an Arizona. Seems like you're saying. No, I'm not saying other. No, my dad grew up a Dolphins fan, Damarino. Obviously, you guys heard the story. I were 13 because of that. But that was my team growing up, actually. No.
Starting point is 02:39:04 then I did say this already, but that's an Arizona answer for sure. Yeah. Because most guys who grew up in a state would pick their state. But Arizona, that's as fair weather as it gets when it comes to. I know. That is true. Isn't it weird? I feel like they choose everybody by there.
Starting point is 02:39:18 Everyone's outside doing show all the time. Except for like the 08, Kurt Warner year where they took him to the Super Bowl. Everyone was Cardinals fans. Everybody was. Everybody was. Everybody was. But he was back in groceries. I was in high school?
Starting point is 02:39:29 Last question, you have a hard out favorite nickname that fans have given you. Favorite nickname? Big D.P. Dude. Is it Big D.B.? What's so are you asking these questions, bro? He's trying to get to know you. He's having it.
Starting point is 02:39:44 He's trying to like it. He's trying to have a little fun. I'm more of like living through you when I see all this stuff. I'm like, oh, I'd be pretty sick to see that. Yeah. Dude, I don't know. There's been so many nicknames. There's funny ones.
Starting point is 02:39:54 Am I even allowed to say Glock? But that's what Trent calls me. Glock Purdy. Glock Pernie? Yeah. That's a nice one. Yes, you're allowed to say the word Glock. They ever call you.
Starting point is 02:40:04 Brock Ferda? What's Ferda? Ferda boys. What an ending at this spot, Brock. Appreciate you coming on. Hey, boys. Appreciate you all. Appreciate it. I'm sure I'm just kept typing that in. I know. Like, why does he
Starting point is 02:40:18 want the social? Because I thought it was Ferdowardow boy. Yeah. 21 plus and present in select states. For Kansas in affiliation with Kansas Star Casino or 18 Plus and present in D.C. Opt-in required. Bonus issued as non-withdrawable profit boost tokens. Restrictions
