And when a story deserves a deeper conversation, I'll sit down with experts, newsmakers, and thought leaders to help you better understand the issue behind the headlines. Starting point is 00:01:05 In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author, Patra Mathers, and her husband Michael, mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know they had died by suicide. Dear honies, this is goodbye. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind?
Starting point is 00:01:29 Listen to Death of an Artist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You're not incurable. You're not broken. You're having a normal human experience. And we have a solution for that. And that solution is our podcast, free therapy. I'm Ben. And I'm Kevin.
Starting point is 00:01:45 And every week, we talk to leading therapists in the country about relationships, work, family dynamics, and all of life's headaches. If you're trying to get rid of anxiety, you're actually fueling more anxiety. So listen to free therapy, because therapy is expensive. But our podcast is free! Listen to free therapy with Ben and Kevin on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Is there an epidemic against literature? More specifically, black literature.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I'm Jack Quist-Piece Thomas, and on this season of the Black Lit podcast, we're outside asking why. They don't want a whole bunch of little Ella Baker, Malcolm Rex and Martin with the Kings running around. And when you look at a lot of different cultures, they're like, we need to know where you came from. And considering this is Black Reading Month,
Starting point is 00:02:28 the only real question is, What are you reading next? Listen to Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network on our iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Ladies gentlemen, welcome to the Lockroom College Football. It is week six. We got a massive show for you.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Today, we also have a massive slit of games on Saturday. There's one guy who's going to tell you that there's only one game that matters this weekend. It's in Lincoln, Nebraska. We're breaking down all the biggest games. But as always, Fandle, your most rewarding season ever. That's what they're doing. That's what they promised.
Starting point is 00:02:58 and promises made. Promises kept. People that put their Twitter username in the comment section of this YouTube have an opportunity to be rewarded in bonus bets. We have three winners from last week. GoValls underscore is one.
Starting point is 00:03:11 The Lou 08. And Andrew Shut 13. So we're going to start off, boys, with GoValls right here. We got the coin here. Okay, that was, I just stepped on a gravestone. That's me disrespecting the dead. I apologize for that.
Starting point is 00:03:24 It is spooked over. I'm going to move that over just a little bit. Excellent. All right. Bonuses, 100, 1,000, 500, 250. Re-roll. Let's go, vaults. $500 in bonus bits right there. Next up, the Lou. 08.
Starting point is 00:03:46 The Lou. Move it over a little bit to the left. Need a thousand. $250. $2.50. I got to be better. I got to be better for the people. See the board.
Starting point is 00:03:55 You can do it, Taylor. Free bonus bets right now. Andrew shut 13, all right? Just like the helmet. Come up. $1,000. Get it. We roll.
Starting point is 00:04:06 That's okay, guys. That's okay. No, $1. Andrew shot 13. As always, we have a live studio audience here. We have a great show for you. Please do me a favor. Subscribe.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Leave that Twitter username in the comment section so you can be a part of these winners from Vandal. Let's have a hell of a show. Touchdown. All right, welcome to another episode. the locker room, Willie C, Terlouan, Josh Pate. We are your host. As always, we are presented by the number one sportsbook in the world, and that is the Fandul sportsbook. And guys, there is something that you can do for free each and every week on the Fandul app. Before we get into it, make sure you
Starting point is 00:04:57 go to the responsible gaming section in the app or Fandle.com slash play with the plan because we gamble responsibly on this show, as should you. Now, to the fun part, there is a half a million jackpot. That is up for grabs every week for free. You don't have to wager anything. You just go and pick 10 games against the spread. If you go 10 for 10, you will share for free that $500,000 jackpot. It will be split amongst you all. This past week, we had 92 people walk away with $5,435. A piece? A piece, Josh. A piece. And you can do this all for free on Fandle. There is also another, a little cherry on top. You can pick the 10 games against a spread. Myself, Taylor, Josh Pate, we pick those 10 games as well. If you beat one of us, all you have to do is beat
Starting point is 00:05:49 one of us, you will get a profit boost token for you to have in use. I know they just have to be one of us, but collectively as a group is our best week yet. Yeah, me and you, five out of 10, Josh with a solid seven out of ten. And we'll take that. So if you would have got six right last week, you're enjoying a profit boost token right now on the boys to you on fandle to you wow fandle.com slash bus and make your free picks now again you don't have to wager anything you just get onto the app you have a little profile and you can participate in the half a million dollar jackpot for free that's a lot of money it's a lot of money for 92 people over $5,000 a piece yeah I'm just saying that's a ton of money yeah a ton of money especially getting to do that like
Starting point is 00:06:31 you don't have a wager anything it's like if you have a dime you could even keep that dime in your pocket. It doesn't even cost a dime. Where do you find value like that? Nowhere else. You can't find that. You take that dime. You keep it. And surely I'll beat one of the boys against a spread. Yeah. And then you get to use a PBT on that dime. Look at that profit boost. Okay. All right. This Ford leaderboard segment is presented by, you guessed it. Ford. A hard day's work starts with one thing. Someone willing to do it. And where there's a will, there's a Ford F-series truck. Here's that segment. We have the Ford Leaderboard. The graphic, I say, is going to show up every week.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Apparently, it's not there. We actually, we have a callback. Jared, if we can get to the callback, we have a shout out here to Dan Kinella. Need a Ford leaderboard graphic that shows the scores. 78 likes on that. We are all in line with that. We need a forward leaderboards that shows all the scores.
Starting point is 00:07:25 This is your graphic. It's finally here. It's made. And what a week for it to finally be shown. Up 31 units. You're up 31. units. And you looked at me and said, behavior like mine is what's wrong with our economy.
Starting point is 00:07:41 So you're suggesting that I'm hoarding wealth. All I'm saying is I don't think America is in as big of a debt pool as it is right now if there aren't more Josh Pates in the world. To be up 31 units. Like there's got to be, where is that coming from? This is your second communist allegation, by the way. Allegation. He tried to call you one last week.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Oh, yeah. But I'm saying you might be hurting the country by doing so well in betting. Which is wild because you remember a couple of weeks ago when I was going to take Georgia and then you took Oklahoma and foolishly, but it's all on me, I followed you. You're just as free to follow me, but you won't. I might this week. Is it time to fade? That's always the issue. That's always the problem.
Starting point is 00:08:23 I feel like I let down my fan base. I was down 16 units last week. Now I'm only down seven because I had an incredible. And your whole thing last week was you're playing a completely different game than me and Josh. You're essentially playing golf where the lowest score is going to win. And everyone's saying, we're going to fade really see. We're going to fade really see just to stab them in the back and have a great week. Yeah, I was hoping to see negative 32 units.
Starting point is 00:08:47 So at least I could be like, listen, you just got to fade me. Don't worry about following Josh. You're winning. You're winning the game. But I had a great get-back spot. Yeah, good get-back spot. All of it, I mean, with the minus seven, I feel like you're in a good spot right now. People two weeks ago thought that you were going to not make it through the season.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Yeah. People thought we were going to have to excommunicate you from the contest. A completely different. Hey, by the way, I do want to compliment you on handling that ad read, talking about the forward leader board, just being present with us in this moment based on what's going on this weekend. Oh, my goodness. This is a big game.
Starting point is 00:09:18 This is not just massive for your university, your football program. This is massive for Willie C. This is everything. Yesterday, Kirby Smart texted me and Kay Linda Boar texting me. What do you think is going to happen in that Nebraska game? Really? Yeah. They don't really like I did you send him a photo me in the corner?
Starting point is 00:09:37 No shirt on my bedroom. I'll get you. I'll get you one of the best. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He does have just a role in it. He's like a file or something where he just has these awesome photos all the time. People are nervous about this. I don't know if you are, but people are nervous about this for you.
Starting point is 00:09:52 A lot of people are nervous for you. For Indiana? No, for you. They're nervous for you because they know, I don't want to put words in your mouth, but like, what's in here, it's beaten right now. It's going to be Friday and Saturday. Like, it's going to be out there for the world to see. And you're vulnerable, so you're willing to hold your heart in your hand for America. And you're willing to let everyone know, this is it. Either we win Saturday or I die. I'm willing to die. So you're all right. You can laugh at that. No, no, I'm ready to go.
Starting point is 00:10:23 I laugh at like how serious you are about that. Like, I know you're ready to go. Yeah, yeah. And I know You're not going to get a whole lot. All the odds are against you. All the odds are against Nebraska and just what's happened in the last 10 years. How many wins do you guys have against top 25 teams? Spoiler alert, it's zero. Yeah. And just 31 straight.
Starting point is 00:10:41 And I had this conversation with you yesterday when we were just by ourselves. I was like, hey, you have to empty the tank this week. Because at the end of the day, fate's fate. Whatever's going to happen on Saturday is going to happen. Like this is the time. So we've said for the last five, six, however many weeks, hey, pull the reins on will. Pull the reins on will. Let's just relax for a second.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Now we got to go. Now it's time to wave the flag. I will be leaving everything on the field within those 24 hours from the start of busing and paid on campus that's going to be in Lincoln, Nebraska, this Friday afternoon, South Stadium, the entrance, until the game is done against Indiana. I will be, everything will be drained. Everything. I'm giving them everything. And I know the 90,000 is going to be giving them everything. I believe.
Starting point is 00:11:24 I believe. My mom, you met her a couple of weeks ago. Not exactly in tune with college football. She understands it. She knows that I do it for a living, but she's not dialed. She can't tell you about the Big Ten standings right now, but she did ask about you this week. So even the outside world, even, I'm not going to call my mom a casual,
Starting point is 00:11:42 far be it for me to do that, but like even the non-diehard crowd, even the casual crowd that just watches playoffs national championship game, even those people are in line at the grocery store saying, it's a big week for Will. The world knows, I understand. So you put yourself in this position, What a position to be in. It's a big week for the Huskers.
Starting point is 00:11:58 You know what Dan Lending felt like now. It's you that has to deal with Kurt Signetti. Will Compton is in the A-Gap this week. You're in the A-Gap. With Signetti. With Signetty. Yeah. And he doesn't miss very often.
Starting point is 00:12:14 But we'll talk about that game at the end of the show. Sure. Very prepared team. A couple weeks ago, we went to when we were in Tennessee, when we were in Knoxville, we had the honor of going and working out their facility after the show, after Buston and Paid on campus. I meet Coach Owings, who's the head strength and conditioning coach
Starting point is 00:12:31 for Tennessee now. He was with Indiana last year, years before. He was with Signetti for, what was it, eight years? He was there for a while, yeah. He was within multiple stops. And he very much let me know all the shit talking I did that entire week before they beat our ass, like 56 to 7 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Oh, he was aware. He hadn't been aware of all of the videos I made. Even one of the assistants who was with him at Indiana came out when we were working out later he's like hey Owen's always talked to you about you in Nebraska in Indiana a couple years ago yes sir yes sir so I got to be careful with the with the bulletin board material that I put out there see it to that is a nay no like they watch signetti's watching this show right now these coaches said that Cignetti pointed all these things out like the whole coaching staff was aware of your
Starting point is 00:13:19 words coming out of your mouth first off he's right he watches everything Secondly, you hadn't been in the wait room 30 seconds before they honed in on using. So Wilcompton? It's Will Compton. Let's go. Tell him about something from four years ago. Thirdly, you remember I went like 0 and 5 picking against Indiana last year. And Kurt, I don't pay attention to the outside noise signetti.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Group texted his entire coaching staff a video of me wearing the clown nose at the end of the year just for fun. I got that on good authority. My source is the defensive coordinator on the coaching staff. but I don't want to name names. Right. But I'm just saying, which he's out. He'll get out there on X and let people know,
Starting point is 00:13:58 oh, we're too small or D lines too small. I remember him, which I respect. I'm like, hell yeah, he's talking some shit on people saying that their D line is undersized and can't win a game. You just got to be, this is the defending national champion. Yeah. People forget about that because they operate this way. But do you, is this a point where it's like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:14:18 we know what you think. Like, why don't we just publicly say it? Because it's not going to, like, Signetti might see it, but does Nebraska not have the squad to shock the nation this year? You sat in LSU's team meeting week one. Yeah. When they're playing their motivational videos. And they got clips of media people talking shit about their team.
Starting point is 00:14:38 And I saw the kid four rows up that was just kind of hitting that. Who buddy? Straight jacket back on my, this kid's a psychopath. I don't even know his name. But I watched and I was like, if anybody's going to die on the field on Saturday, it's going to be this kid. It's for the love of the game. So you're saying, you're just going to, you're going to. keep it tight and then wait for the result and then once the result happens you got to wait for the
Starting point is 00:14:57 right time do you think do you think signetti's like lane in that he screams in your face for 10 minutes i don't care what anyone outside this building says outside noise doesn't matter at all watch these clips so great i'm sure he's a little bit more polished than that so you so there was a group chat that took place oh in signet in indiana and that leaked to you yes seems like there's a lot of that going on right now yeah what you want to do is you want to keep it seems like a lot of lot of players, people are leaking group chats. How do you feel about that? How do you feel about it?
Starting point is 00:15:28 Because I know if you, if any one of us was in a group chat and you guys said something. Did your group chat clown? Yeah, people are like, hey, yeah, what do you think about the Michigan kid? Yeah. I know this. If we're in a group chat and I was bitching about somebody, I would fully trust the both of you to not say a word about it and keep between us. We this kid has a little church group and we can't.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Okay, everything's little models, little church group. He's drinking a lot of, coffee this is. It's like a pretty big group, big enough where someone screenshot the contents of the group test. It was a screenshot and a half. You can't have that, dude. It's bad. And I wanted to find a way to weave Michigan into the conversation because, to be fair, I'm broken right now. I don't feel, I like as excited I am for you and that optimism that sits there also with that doubt and that anxiety and the energy that's about to take place on Saturday, I'm the opposite of that with my program.
Starting point is 00:16:17 I feel empty. And you're on a byway. I'm on the side of the road. I have no gas and there's not a gas station within my house. You don't even have your thumb up. My phone has a 1% battery. You don't even want to go anywhere. No.
Starting point is 00:16:26 You went into the biweek and you may just keep on going. Yeah. I was like, oh, I'm so excited for a biweek. There's not going to be any distractions. We'll find out what we do as quarterback. And then I got an ex-bustin intern getting group chats leaked. I know. That's tough.
Starting point is 00:16:40 That's bad to look for even buss him. Yeah. It's bad ball. We can have it. It's just bad, man. Anyway. Yeah. There's a guy.
Starting point is 00:16:51 You're on the corner right now and he's not even. holding the sign he's not even looking for nothing and i'll see dude saturday i'm like laying on my couch i'm sad i'm a sad boy my kids come in and check on me and i get a text from him that made me even more said i'm not gonna leak those texts you sent to me nope but i will say there's a great question he asked what do you do in the situation i guess we'll find out soon i guess all the whole searching a lot of soul searching a lot of so let's get to the board huh all right i'm luke wilson join me each week for film never lies since retiring from the nflb i've had a lot of of my mind and now got my own show. And on our new podcast, whatever it takes, we're talking motherhood, marriages, careers, and figuring out how to balance it all. And we'll discuss the game that brought us together because nothing is off limits. Do you remember your initial reaction when Fox called you to be a part of the World Cup? I was like, no, I don't want to do it. You said no? I played with players that didn't, I don't think that they really, truly love the game, I found the love with the ball at my foot. But in my head, it was the long game. It was
Starting point is 00:20:21 like, I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox. I'm going to go get some reps and I'm going to learn it and love it and embrace it. He said, this group of people will never be in the same room as part of the same team ever again in your life. And it is your job to make sure that you enjoy the moment. You're proud of what you accomplish together. Listen to whatever it takes. with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Dear honies, this is goodbye. In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author Patra Mather's and her husband, Michael, mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died.
Starting point is 00:21:03 By suicide. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Patra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind? I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to, I truly hope that Petro was 1,000% on board with the plan. Do you think of him as having killed her?
Starting point is 00:21:34 Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible from my mother's staff. I'm Leon Nafok. And I'm Alice Gregory. Together, we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patriot and Michael's letters, as one married couple trying to understand another. Listen to Death of an Artist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Cotton Bulls taking place. We've got the Texas State Fair going on.
Starting point is 00:21:58 We got Texas at Oklahoma, not really at Oklahoma, neutral sight. Texas is favored by minus seven and a half. Total points in that game is 39.5. This is like an Iowa playing Iowa type of game when it comes to the totals. How do we feel about this game? Where do we see it going? Mateer has just been floundering around. Is he as bad as we think?
Starting point is 00:22:16 We bought stock. No, we've lost stock a little bit. Archmanning, his stats aren't that much better. They had 100 total penalties or yards and penalties against Tennessee a couple weeks ago. How do we feel about this game, well? I feel like it's Texas, right? Like it's... Seven to half?
Starting point is 00:22:30 Is Oklahoma dead? I'm sitting here next to Josh, who I know bought John Mateer stock. He's bought it a couple years in a row. I had Oklahoma in my college from... more playoff. Yeah, the year started. I saw that the Fanduil had them over under seven and a half wins. It's almost like, hey, is there something up here?
Starting point is 00:22:48 Clearly, people knew that something was up. What have you talked yourself into with this Oklahoma team? If you're going to find any rationale for how they can compete in this game, because I feel like Texas going, Texas kind of having the game that they had against Tennessee where the run game didn't get going. Arch looked the way he did on the road. A couple nice throws. A couple nice throws for sure.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Like, in my opinion, they do have the run game. They just didn't show up against Tennessee. So I feel like all, you know, they've been sitting on, hey, we gotta come in, we gotta be able to run the football on this Oklahoma team. Like to me, I think they'll be able to. Like I think Arch, he performed well in this game last year, the Red Rivalry game.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Shootout. The shootout. The Red Rivalry Shootout. Oh, due respect. To me, this is like a no-brainer Texas covering. Like, no-brainer Texas covering. How many units? I'm gonna say nine and a half. Hold on. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:40 I'm moving a no. The most you can go in units is five. No, no, I'm moving the line. You're going to the line to nine and a half. Yeah. And how many units are you putting on that nine and a half? I'll put four on it. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Yeah. Four units, all line minus nine and a half. This defense is for real. We know this stuff about Texas. And then it's like, okay, how is Oklahoma going to be able to win this game? Like, I've seen enough now whether or not in the by week, they figured something else out. But the creativity on third down, like, John, They're going to be able to challenge these receivers to where John Mateer is going to have to make tight throws.
Starting point is 00:24:15 He's inaccurate. He's inconsistent. I won't say he's inaccurate because he does have flashes. But I don't see how Oklahoma pulls this one out. Plus 106 on minus nine and a half. You like that? I do. You do like that.
Starting point is 00:24:29 So in May 22nd is when these lines first came out. Does anyone want to take a guess at what the line on this game was back then? Probably nine and a half, Texas. The line was Texas minus six. And six and a half. Ooh. Now think about what the perception of Oklahoma was. You, a lot of people thought Oklahoma was a playoff team.
Starting point is 00:24:49 And with that, as the public understanding, the line was Texas minus six and a half. This line has moved one point since then. Does that sound right to you? Or does it sound like something's up? I think it sounds both. This sounds like something's up. It sounds like. It sounds like something's up.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Could be either. Hey, black or white. Could be either. What do you know? Will says it could be either there. Yeah, this is Delaney Walker. We don't know what's going to happen on Saturday. I just had to pause to appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:25:22 1,095 days since Oklahoma has scored a touchdown against Texas. Mm. A thousand 95 days. Both are off a by. You asked me to make a case because very clearly I love Texas here. Like, Model thinks this number's three points off. So I'll go ahead and spoil the ending for you. Texas minus seven and a half is a four unit for me.
Starting point is 00:25:40 So I love Texas. If you want me to make the Oklahoma case, are you going to take Oklahoma? I'm not taking it. I'm taking, I'm taking, so someone's got to stand up and make the case. All right, so you know how in college football, not so much in November, but in early October sometimes, you've got like four or five games of a sample size. You think you figured a team out. But then there's this performance first half of October, and it just totally turns the stat sheet on its ear.
Starting point is 00:26:08 because it turns out that you didn't really know everything you needed to know about that team. We weren't so far down the road that they couldn't turn some things around. That happens all the time in this sport. Theoretically, it could happen for Oklahoma. Also, if you think about what hasn't worked that has led to their numbers looking like this, 131st rushing, 131st in giveaways, 128, then Red Zone touchdown percentage, Texas number one in the country defensively, 109 on third downs, 107 on explosive play. So nothing's worked offensively.
Starting point is 00:26:36 you're least incentivized to keep doing what you're doing when what you're doing doesn't work. So you base your expectation off what they've been doing, but they're far more likely to have spent their by week, self-scouting and trying to figure out different ways to do things. Of course, the catch-22 there is that may not work either. There's no guarantee if you change your way of doing things that that way works.
Starting point is 00:26:57 But sometimes it does, is the point. Having said that, if I'm willing to buy into that logic, and I don't know that I am, but if I'm willing to buy into that logic on the Oklahoma side, You also have to say it about Texas. Just because Texas is the number one team in the country doesn't mean they've looked flawless so far. So maybe Texas spent their by week improving too.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Maybe Texas comes out a little more explosive offensively. Maybe Arch looks a little bit better. Maybe completion percentage ticks up for him too. So I can't buy into something that I haven't seen, even though I understand something I haven't seen could happen. If Oklahoma wins that game, even if they just cover and make it close, it's because they sort of flip the script. And I acknowledge that's possible, but I'm going to choose to be surprised by Oklahoma overperforming offensively,
Starting point is 00:27:41 then just blindly bank on it and then feel stupid when Texas wins 23 to 6 or something like that. So I'm taking Texas minus seven and a half for four units. Four units, four units. I know the total is very low here, but I'm actually, I'm going to think the under 39.5. Oklahoma is 11 of 12 coming off of a bi-week in the last 12 seasons. I do think Oklahoma, as bad as they are in offense, they're still great on defense. They do a great job, especially in their run defense,
Starting point is 00:28:10 in the middle with Stone. Texas has all the weapons in the world. We've talked about ad nauseum, the three wide receivers they have, that Arch Manning, he's got the Manning last name, and he should be doing more, and that the run game has gotten better, and then we get to the Tennessee game.
Starting point is 00:28:24 They have so many penalties, over 100 yards and penalties. They kind of shot themselves in the foot over and over and over again, as Collins is sitting there doing, in you know, piss celebrations and getting more penalties there. It's a great celebration.
Starting point is 00:28:38 It's a great. You can't do it. You can't do it. You get away to the locker and we do it. Both these teams' rivalry game. We saw the way it went last year. What it was really, the game was played between the 25s and no one can really capitalize of getting into the end zone. And as bad as John Mateer has been, can't get that much worse. Once you've hit rock bottom, it's like, it can only go up from there. That's true. Or you could just stay at rock bottom. You just lay on the ground. You could just stay at rock bottom. But Texas being the number one team, they haven't necessarily shown anything of like the high powered offense that they should be.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Means they could be better. It means they could be better. Absolutely. But it's the penalties for me. It's Archmanning showing flashes, but not really putting games together. It's the penalties. And at the end of the day, like you have more talent than Oklahoma has on the offensive side of the ball. Yet it just hasn't clicked yet.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Could it click? Yeah, absolutely. Seeing how confident that both of you are in Texas so much so that you're moving the line and you're putting four units on it, does that make me nervous? No doubt. But part of me feels like they're hitting the sides on the way down. they're not even at Rock Bottom yet. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Wow. I mean, how much farther can you go down? You could give the ball. How many times has Matier and Arbuckle been in the A gap for us on our Friday show? And they just continue to get just ran over, over and over and over again. And we still have to sit here and be like, they're just hitting the sides. Like maybe like Oklahoma stops being a program. We keep wanting to pick them up about, hey, get back in there.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Yeah, yeah. And somehow we just keep talking about an Oklahoma team that we had all these dreams and aspirations for. Yeah, they get, they get bullied. But like, Venables, defense is always going to be solid. They've been great. Must Jamp does a great job of making quarterbacks uncomfortable. I just see this as a defensive struggle type of game. Texas will win this game.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Do they cover? Probably. But more than anything, I look at the total. It's like kind of no matter where it sat, it was always the under for me. I didn't look at the total until like this morning. I was like, yeah, I'm still going to take 39 and a half. This is a game to me that's played 25 to 25. Some sort of penalty takes place or interception by Mateer.
Starting point is 00:30:28 He like throws the ball while the circus music is playing. but it's a rivalry game and weird things happen in rivalry games. They always tend to be closer than we all think they are. I think the one thing that makes a lot of people nervous if you're going to be on the side
Starting point is 00:30:40 that you and I are on is your mind remembers how many times things seem so obvious and then the game plays out another way. I think it plays a little mind trick on you. College football history can play a little mind trick on you sometimes because your mind doesn't remember
Starting point is 00:30:54 all the times that things played out exactly as it seemed like they should go. Those get filtered out And the nightmares that remain are like the Ole Miss Florida, where, man, how in the world is Florida favored over Ole Miss? And then they spank them. People will be scared of that game for a decade. That will impact people's betting patterns and choosing picking patterns for a decade.
Starting point is 00:31:14 So it's possible, man. It's possible that it's 14 to 10 or something like that. I'm just saying, like I wrote on this paper, can Oklahoma scratch out 17 points? That's my starting point for Oklahoma. Yeah. Can they scratch out 17 points, which is just an. And the same thing to be saying with a returning quarterback and a returning coordinator, but that's where we are.
Starting point is 00:31:34 So like, I trust Texas a whole lot more here with the understanding what you just said could be true. Texas could be trustworthy and 80% of themselves right now. They could be ready to scale up and get better. That's what good teams are supposed to do. Especially this time of the year, as usually when you see teams kind of start that extension. It's like, oh, this is a playoff. This is a national championship contender. Like that week, 67, 8 was new to see them really start to do this.
Starting point is 00:31:57 So I'm going to take the under in here. I'm gonna go, let's go with three units on this. Not overly confident about it, but maybe I think that's playing into the psyche of how my last week went with the units. It makes me a little bit nervous because I got to write the ship a little bit too. That's where you gotta keep swinging.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Gotta keep swinging. All right, we're up this episode to bring you neutral. Neutral tastes great. Tastes or I've ever tried. It's made with real vodka and real juice. That's what makes it taste delicious. They come in a variety of flavors.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Personal favorites of mine, pineapple and lime, but I will tell you, sneak it in there. I bet by next week it's gonna be number one. Blueberry, Perfect for social occasions, big time crowd pleaser, especially during the summer. Think on the beach with friends at an outdoor bar, on the lake, at a music festival. It's a perfect time of year to grab a 12 pack of neutral for the beach or grab a bucket deal in your favorite bar to celebrate summer.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Neutral, keep it tasty. UCLA, undefeated at Oregon. Well, not undefeated, but got a whole lot better. Yeah, UCLA's undefeated. I know, but I said Oregon, not undefeated. Oregon's favorite minus 11.5. Total points in the game is 58 and a half. William, how do you feel?
Starting point is 00:33:00 It's the under. This is the under. I'm 0 and 3 on my last 3 unders. I picked an under last week. Miami Clemson. By the way, did you watch the end of that game? Yeah. Did we text?
Starting point is 00:33:12 They're kids. Oh, my. Oh, yes, yes, bro. They're just kids. That pick six. It's right. God, it's right there. I talked about it on Bustin with the boys.
Starting point is 00:33:20 They're sitting there. The over under on that game is 47 and a half. They have 47 points total. I see dabbo in the headset back. Let's go score and I'm like, all right, defense, let's just hold up. Stop him on fourth down. You get the ball back. You knee it out.
Starting point is 00:33:34 It's over with. So what's his name? Tate Reynolds. Tate Reynolds. God throws it on the perimeter. Miami pick six and I'm just curling up on my couch, bro. Earlier in the day, I had a garbage time touchdown. They hit my over.
Starting point is 00:33:50 And you and I are. That was, that was Missou, Florida. We are trashing these kids in text. and then all of a sudden the garbage started touchdown. I love these kids. I do anything for these kids. And then they bite us later in the evening. But this one, first under is going to hit here.
Starting point is 00:34:11 I like the under on this game. Yeah, like, but he's like, man, you're going to give me 11 and a half with UCLA because they look good. Like they run the football very well, very effectively. A lot of explosives. To me, it's what does the ceiling of this offense look like when this explosive run game's not there?
Starting point is 00:34:25 because Oregon coming out of the by week, like to me, the way they looked against USC, like you see a lot more physicality in the front seven on stop of the run. They know they're going to have to stop the run. And also with both of these teams, both of their offenses, you might see the logo and think Oregon
Starting point is 00:34:39 and points and this and that. But they're also like 110th in the country when it comes to plays per game. UCLA's 125th in the country on plays per game. So I like to slow it down. They're very much a run team first. Part of me wants to sit there and kind of pick at UCLA.
Starting point is 00:34:55 plus 11.5. But what I love the most is under 58 and a half on this game. Because if Oregon shuts it down, they eliminate the explosive runs that UCLA has with Wayne Knight. They have a couple cats that have been running the football. Anthony Woods. Yeah. But they shut that down. This game really slows down. I like the under here at 58 and a half. So I'm going under 58 and a half. I'm going for years. You know, I'm not going to go a total here. I do respect the under though. I think I may lean the under. It feels like a line that is built to entice UCLA action. Getting double digits with one of the hottest teams in the country.
Starting point is 00:35:34 And I can't help but feel like the opposite is true. If Oregon were not to have lost to Oklahoma State, if they just look like their normal selves, what we think they're capable of, this number would be like 17.5 or something like that. So I actually feel like we may be getting a little value with Oregon here. Now, that's all predicated on Dan and company coming through. and they're becoming the version of themselves, maybe like just a little delayed engine start,
Starting point is 00:36:00 and it's getting cranked now. I think not just that they beat USC, but all of the dynamics that went into that, the galvanization that had to happen in the fire of your quarterback goes down and then Riola comes in and you still run away from them in their own building. Like that's a reminder of who you are. That's, you get on that plane coming home
Starting point is 00:36:20 and you're like, we are Oregon. We are still Oregon. Then you get a buy week. And frankly, Whether Dante Moore can play, whether it's got to be Riola, you're going to have a solid option at quarterback. I feel like this is going to be a competitive game first half, maybe even competitive into second half, and then fourth quarter is Oregon's. And they ended up covering that 11 and a half. I would put two units on that.
Starting point is 00:36:43 Not the most confident pick in the world? Because I respect Bob Chesney. And I respect their ability to do absolutely the maximum amount of the pieces they have with the pieces they have. I just think Oregon's pieces are better. So I'm going to take two units, Oregon minus 11 and a half. It does feel like Oregon kind of figured themselves out and really had that confidence boost of like, oh, we are this team that people pick to be a national championship contender this year against USC. And they haven't played since then.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Yeah. And I exactly. And UCLA, like the teams they've played, they've done a great job. Like they're rushing over 200 yards in every single game they play them. Every team they play, it's like San Diego State, Purdue, Maryland, and Cal. Like all those teams are two and three right now. No one has a winning record. And they've rushed the ball really well.
Starting point is 00:37:24 You brought the two running backs. Like Knight, he has like over, I think he's rushing for over 111 yards per game. It's like nine yards per carry. So like they do a great job of running the football. And when Nico, when they give the ball for him to run it, that plus one is awesome as well. It's like if you're looking at this team, you're like, okay, we obviously have to force UCLA to throw the ball to beat us. And you look at the Oregon side, like Rayola comes in. When he's at the start, the game plan does not revolve around him and his, like how he is as a player.
Starting point is 00:37:52 and he goes in and dices up USC the way he does. Think about this kid now having extra time, a full game plan revolving around him, and he still has all the town in the world. And Hill, the running back, like, people want to talk about Rayola and how great he played against USC. Like Hill was the spark plug for that entire thing.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Whether it was offset, wide zone, he would stretch the field and hit explosives, screen games, but like, Rayola was throwing some great passes there. And if you put on the film between UCLA and Purdue, there's a lot of throws to be had. I love Oregon minus 11 and a half here. I think they found out who they are.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I think they continue that snowball effect starts to take place where they start to make the climb into the playoffs. I'm going to go four units on this. And it really is like I think Oregon has the ability to stop the run. And then if you're UCLA, what do you do? Because Nico started slower passing.
Starting point is 00:38:44 He's thrown for like 4 and 28 yards. The last two games, like he's been better with the football through the air. But I think if you put them in a position where you have to throw the ball consistently, that's where that defense that was supposed to be all-world can really show by getting a couple of turnovers and making this really one-sided.
Starting point is 00:39:00 You guys are kind of talking me in the Oregon, but I'm not going to do that to us because we can't be across the board. It can't be across the board. It's not fun. Because you're right, when you look at Wayne Knight, he's got 45 carries of 4, 145 total yards.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Out of six of those carries, he's got 213. So they're popping you on some of them. And he's a tough tackle, but to me it's like the entire game plan is you shut this down or you slow it down. You saw it, last week with Mizzou in Florida. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:23 You do that. It's like, what does the offense become? Man, you want to know how crazy the portal is. I remember a couple of years ago, it was probably like after signing day, something like that. Like you're looking at future rosters. And I remember vividly being on some show. It wasn't my show, but I was appearing somewhere.
Starting point is 00:39:39 And I said, imagine those future Tennessee-Georgia matchups of Dylan Riola versus Niko Iamaliava. Because at the time, Raiola was committed to Georgia. Nico was headed to Tennessee and now Riola is two stops removed from having, well he's never technically at Georgia decommitted. He goes to Nebraska that doesn't work. He's at Oregon now and Nico's
Starting point is 00:40:01 long since left Knoxville and they still end up potentially going at each other just think about the money. Think about the Fandwell prop bet you could have had if you bet. Yeah, these two dudes will see each other down the road in Eugene Oregon as UCLA comes to town. Right. Crazy. And an old Pactual matchup taking place. Old school.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Yeah. Nice researcher. And that Nice dig right there. Yeah, that was nice. I do love Oregon in this spot, man. And I'm off, clearly nice. Do we know who's playing at the quarterback's time? I know Dante's been practicing. Yeah, I mean, he's, he could play.
Starting point is 00:40:31 I think if you're, you're Oregon, you see what Rayola's done. It's like, you don't want to bench Dante, but it's like, let's focus on his health. That should be the whole thing. We're gonna make sure he's good. And then kind of see what you have a Raolo. Because if he goes out and does, was it 289 in the second half? Like, he looked good. To where it's like, you know, if you're Dante, it's like, you're,
Starting point is 00:40:49 waking up and you're like I got to get back as fast as possible imagine the group text then yeah I feel like but or you keep it tight they don't leak it I feel like that's why he's practicing he's almost kind of see what's out there it's like hey buddy you better get your ass back out there uh Houston at Kansas State Kansas State is favored minus two and a half total points that game is 55 and a half Kansas State your sneaky team in the big 12 a year in a year out yeah that's where I'm going okay Kansas State minus two and a half all right I like I like Cline I like Avery Johnson they're there
Starting point is 00:41:19 And again, losing to Cincinnati last week, I think it's a good thing for them. So you're giving me them with a minus two and a half. Like I'm going Kansas State. Wounded animal theory. Yeah, kind of wounded animal, but more just like the culture's building for Kansas State and Coach Klein.
Starting point is 00:41:31 So I'm going, to me, this is simple. I'm not going with, is it, you pronounce it, Weigman or Wegman? Wegman. I'm not betting on Wegman. You're not back, no, no, I'm not betting on Wakeman. You would take Wegman over Johnson as your quarterback.
Starting point is 00:41:46 No, I'm taking Johnson over Wegman. But I'm saying you, okay, If you're building a team, you're going to take Johnson over Wegman. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love Houston. I love Houston to win this game outright.
Starting point is 00:41:57 I like Wegman. I like how their ability to run the ball, and I think Wegman's a better quarterback throwing the ball. They have a bit of a scare against UCF last week. They're down 17-0 in the third quarter. Come back win that game, 27 to 17. Kansas State, it's all about running the ball with Johnson. It is going to fall complete on his shoulders, whether they're able to win this game and be able to cover.
Starting point is 00:42:19 And at the end of day, like, you see Houston against Texas Tech and they could have won that game. They should have probably won that game. And there's a lot better than I think, than a lot of people think. In the Big 12, everyone thought I was Texas Tech
Starting point is 00:42:32 than everybody else. I think Houston's in that category of shortening that gap and they're going to show it on the road. So I like Money Line, Houston. Let me do three units on that. Three Yanutos. You know that UCF Houston game.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Two units for you? Two units for you? Two units on Gids. State. I don't think people realize this, but that Houston UCF games are a real bad blood game. It's the space game because both places think that they're the capital of space travel. And I'm like, dude, Huntsville's got a rocket on the side of the road. What about Huntsville? But that's either here and or there. I'm with you. I'm going to go Houston plus two and a half, so I'm not going to quite go money line, bake in room for a 28 to 26, Kansas State win.
Starting point is 00:43:09 But I think there's a coaching dynamics edge here too. Nothing against Colin Klein. I actually think the world of the dude. Look how Texas A&M looks without him this year. But you've got, it's a classic example, seasoned veteran Willie Fritz, first year guy and Colin Klein. I trust Houston. They've already been pretty battle tested. Remember, they've already gone on the road
Starting point is 00:43:29 and played a really close down to the wire game with Texas Tech. So it's not unfamiliar territory for them. I actually think they've got a quarterback edge in this game. So I'm going to be the soul that's brave enough to roll with Connor Wegman. Every time I mention Avery Johnson, there are a couple of Avery Johnson fan accounts out there. that really ride me. It's running by his dad.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Yeah, probably so. I'm not going to disparage the good name of Avery Johnson. I'm just going to... Don't do that. I'm going to build up Connor Wegman, and I, you know what? I was going to slap the table. I'll go four units on this.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Four units. I feel really good about Houston. I was two and a house. You feel really good. You feel that good about Wegman. I like Weggen a lot. I personally think he's a turnover waiting to happen. Really?
Starting point is 00:44:08 He's only had one interception. It was in week one. I know. It's Oregon State. He's had 11 touchdown since then. I see these things, man. You see these things? You're seeing the board clearly.
Starting point is 00:44:18 You're going to check that box score on Saturday. It's going to be two picks. I just think it's interesting that we sat here last weekend. We were talking about Austin Simmons and a certain someone. There's no reason to name names. Certain someone said, Austin Simmons is a turnover waiting to happen. And all he did was hang like, what, half a hundred on Florida? Open heart surgery.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Yeah. People all of a sudden just stopped making eye contact with me on set when I started bringing that up. People are a little nervous. Wow. You were in the fodder a little bit. I was sitting there. You were in the fodder a little bit. I'm going to sit with Cody a little bit.
Starting point is 00:44:47 But I'm not talking about Cody. I was wrong about Austin's Sons. I'm just talking about my guy right here. Me. You said he's a turnover waiting to happen. And I, listen. And the group text heard it. The group text turned.
Starting point is 00:44:58 It's still, it's up there. He still is. He did a great job last week. Who are they playing? He was a balling last week. They play A&M this week. Just big upset. I don't know where it comes.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Well, I'm not saying a big upset, but I bet you he's got one. I bet you've got one in the pocket. I bet she's got one in the pocket. And I'm not. He's got one in the pocket. But you're going to point out of me doing show. Austin Simmons guy? I am.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Are you serious? My whole argument. You can't claim Austin Simmons guy. Why not, dude? Last week when you didn't know, you had him lower. I can't say, listen, I can't be held. We've sat on this show and have literally said, our bets, we can't be held accountable for our bets of the words that are said.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Then all of a sudden, you claim Austin Simmons. I'm like, he probably shouldn't be that high in your SC quarterback thing. And all of a sudden, I'm the bad guy. Well, how did he, last week he looked like he belonged in the top four on that SEC list. Week to week, man. I think he's got one in them. You guys are basically making me against. I'm sitting here going, hey, I was putting my head up going, I was wrong.
Starting point is 00:45:52 And as I'm putting my hand up, you're going, you did this. You. You did this. And that's where you put your head up and say, hey, I was wrong about. I was wrong about last week. This dude is going to throw one ball perfectly thrown tips off a wide receiver's chest into a DB's hands. And it's going to be told you, bro, Ocaps before the ball even gets returned. I hope Missouri wins that game. I hope Austin Simmons is great, but I need him to give me one.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Just one. Just not have interception, fumble it. Yeah, 4TD, 5TD, one fumble. Stip-Sack fumbles, it's not even really on him. I'm like, told you all, me. Told you all. Drop him. Sleep on him.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Marcel Reed, legacy game loading? It's like coach is talking about running backs and film. Like, hey, he's a fumbler. He just doesn't know it yet. Yeah, exactly. He hasn't coughed it up yet, but he's going. He wants to give you one. There's a quarterback on this slate that has no interception so far, and I'm telling you,
Starting point is 00:46:37 he's due. He is due. We'll get to that game in just a little bit. Huge Austin Simmons guy. Big fan of him. Big. He's got one time. He's got one.
Starting point is 00:46:46 Right in the defensive hands. Houston. Houston. Houston. Houston plus two. Go money line, dude. I don't want to be there. What does your tiny,
Starting point is 00:46:55 it bitty computer say about it? It likes Houston. Does it like Houston? Money line? I love that you went 0 and 2 betting the itty-bitty computer. I know. I looked at it.
Starting point is 00:47:03 I was so excited on Friday. I'm like, oh, cool. Let me look at some technology with you. You picked the wrong games. Which one did he go with on the in? Oh, it's Syracuse and. Which is the right side, by the way. I can't be how responsible.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Syracuse money six and a half. They won the last play of the game. And what was the other one? Stanford plus 13.5. All right. Clum had some qualms with you on Monday. He's like, my kids can't go to college.
Starting point is 00:47:23 He goes, hey, do I check Josh paper giving me Stanford? And Josh is sitting there and he's like, I look at the monitor and it's like far enough away to where my eyes aren't really seeing it. He's like, you see how it's green right here? I'm like, all three of these are green. And it says this, like that is, that's one you bet right there. Like when you feel that way and my itty bitty tiny little computer says it.
Starting point is 00:47:40 Like this is when you go. I'm like, all right, perfect. I'll put those bets in. Put those bets in an hour before our show on Friday starter. Felt so great about it. Send him to multiple friends, too. Tender Technini lost a couple of dollars too. I sent him my boy, I was like, bets at the week right here.
Starting point is 00:47:52 One of them now. He's like, this is it. And that's a. I haven't text to him, and he's like, you don't respect my computer. That's why you lost. What was the final? It was like 50 something to three? I saw they were down 50 and I was like 40 plus and I just shook my head.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Can I say this about that game though? Yeah. I think we were on the wrong side of that one. Your computer sent it was all greens Travel early East Coast kickoff. I just don't I just don't think Stanford was ready but the Syracuse logic Before the game. You got to follow all do we need to put up my stats again? Okay, you can put him up But like I just what my computer has given me this is here's a I think I found the way to destroy you dude is I'm gonna follow every bet you take I'm gonna send every single one and there's me muffins all over the board which model am I showing you?
Starting point is 00:48:40 Evil model dart mom You know, Twainclay. You clap before. You did the same bed as me. You're poor. It's like, yeah, get him. It's like, dude, you took Stanford as well. Josh had his third straight week of plus eight units and still has yet to have a negative weekend.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Sounds like somebody's due. Sounds like we got Austin Synton. I am the Austin Symp. You're due for a pick. I make several loseable picks. I just haven't lost yet. Yeah. Man.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Anyway, dude. What we got? No, not the. Is it a Nebraska? Who's ready for Bama, Georgia? This Saturday on Fandu predicts, trade $25 on Bama versus Georgia and get $1 in bonus for every point scored. The last meeting total is 75 points.
Starting point is 00:49:27 If they do that again, that's $75 in bonus bets. A touchdown, that's $6 in bonus. Extra point, another dollar field goal, that's three more dollars. Every point adds to your bonus. So keep your eyes on the scoreboard. More points means more bonus. download Fandul and bring on the points. The music you love.

Starting point is 00:53:34 Dear honeies, this is goodbye. In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author Patra Mather's and her husband Michael mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died by suicide. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Patra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind?
Starting point is 00:54:02 I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to I truly hope that Petra was a thousand percent on board with the plan. Together we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patriot and Michael's letters.

What about the Gravely? Let's do the Gravely Game of the Week. Talk about buying a lawnmower real quick. Okay. Zero turn, nine degrees. You have to bake a thing.
Starting point is 00:54:45 Go get yourself a lawnmower. Gravely Game of the Week. Georgia. At Alabama. Alabama is a dog at home. Georgia's favorite. Oh, both they say plus. Alabama's favored minus one and a half.
Starting point is 00:55:00 Total points in that game, 52 and a half. There's a hurricane taking place. Yep. Cat one, cat two. Is that what I'm saying? Probably cat two at landfall, yeah. And so there is a conversation about them moving this to Sunday? Nope.
Starting point is 00:55:12 No, this game is happening on Saturday. Well, actually, as you and I are speaking, there's a conference that started 31 minutes ago that I won't be privy to the details of until we get off air. But I'm pretty confident in saying that game will go off as scheduled at the schedule kickoff time. And we got sideways running taking place? Nope. I think we'll be okay. I think it will be dry most of the game.
Starting point is 00:55:32 Most of the game. I think it'll push through. I think it will be good most of the game. I think you may have some win to deal with. Not terrible. Probably decreases throughout the game. I'm choosing to look at this game as if weather's not a factor. Really?
Starting point is 00:55:44 Yeah. I'm choosing to just view it straight up. So if that's the logic you're bringing, the logic is Alabama, minus one and a half. Is it? Yeah. It's not what the model thinks. Well, your model and I are in a big fight.
Starting point is 00:55:56 What's your model thing? Model thinks that Georgia, wins the game by two. Oh, really? Do you agree with your model? I don't. You think Alabama? My model's been terrible
Starting point is 00:56:08 in Alabama all year. Really? It thought Mississippi State Bama was a straight-up pick-um last week. Thought Mississippi State was one of the best picks on the board. It thought Kentucky was the right side. It did think Florida State
Starting point is 00:56:20 was the right side and it was right there. But it's just been off. I think it's under value. How could you know properly how to value Keele and Russell? Square point. This is the model speaking through I'm like, I knew what was coming all along.
Starting point is 00:56:32 The model didn't know what was coming, though. Okay. So, yeah, I'm fighting. There's an internal fight just in the family here, the state family of model versus eyeballs and what we've seen so far. Have you watched Gunner Stockton play this year? Oh, yeah. Have you seen how in this world where your Marcel Reed's look worse,
Starting point is 00:56:52 your Lenora Sellers look worse? Gunner Stockton was good last year and has gotten better. 78% completion percentage is up yards per attempt up even as rushing numbers are up so to me like the one of two big questions in this
Starting point is 00:57:08 from an Alabama defensive standpoint is does Georgia just stay on schedule like they ruthlessly stay on schedule they're so efficient Alabama's got the number 10 run defense in the country is that real do you stone you're not going to stone Georgia
Starting point is 00:57:23 do you limit them enough running the ball where they're in a bunch of third and eights all evening because I don't like their odds if it's that way. I think Bama, if you keep them off schedule, because of how dynamic they are at quarterback and how good they are at receiver, I feel better about them converting third and eight plus
Starting point is 00:57:41 than I do Georgia. So that's my first question. My second question is, if you've watched these secondaries play so far this year, wide receiver ones have gotten after Alabama, but wide receiver ones have kind of quietly gotten after Georgia a little bit too. So Georgia, the perception is, oh, they don't have a game.
Starting point is 00:57:57 breaker at receiver, which may be true. But they've got a ton of different guys who have contributed already. They had eight guys against Vanderbilt catch two or more balls. But Tail and Taylor's the only player they've had in any game this year go over 75 receiving yards. So in that game last year, Taylor dropped a wide open touchdown that would have given them the lead in Athens. And so it doesn't take 15 balls being caught. It takes once or twice getting behind the defense. I just think it's a point trading game. I'm not going over, although I do think the over actually is the side here. I think that you've got to keep up if you're Georgia. You cannot bank on limiting them because you got every so often a dynamic enough athlete at quarterback, Trinidad Chambleau was this last year,
Starting point is 00:58:44 where it kind of throws all your rules and all your principles defensively into a blender because you can do everything right and they still bite you. You saw that in the Sugar Bowl when they played Ole Miss and they lost. I think you've got that in play here as well. I remain to be seen. I remain in the to be seen camp whether Georgia can trade points and keep up in a game like this. So my lean is actually Bama minus one and a half. I think right now they're just the better team and they've got home field and that's why I'll go minus one and a half. I'll do three units on that. Okay, you feel good about it. I feel pretty good about it. Kailing the boys got a nice little record against Georgia right now.
Starting point is 00:59:22 He does. Kirby smart. And I do like, I think, like the thing about the weather for me is the biggest question mark that I have because like Alabama has been incredible. Keelan Russell has been awesome. He's not only like, he's throwing the deep ball really well, but he's like really smart with the football where he goes. He has a great time clock in his head of when the rush is getting to him and being able
Starting point is 00:59:44 to get out and make it happen with their legs. They've been way better in 12 and 13 personnel of running the football. I think like 50, 51%, 48%, and it's like 50%, and, and it's just, and, and you're going to be able to in that 12 to 13 personnel range, which is just awesome. I don't know if that works as well against Georgia. And where the weather factor comes into play is, Georgia's kind of like hurricane proof when it comes to their offense. Because you said, Go to Stockton, his yards per attempt or more this year.
Starting point is 01:00:07 Last year, 31% of his passes were behind the line of scrimmage. This year, it's 38% where it's actually gotten more. So it tells me multiple things. Like they're still doing the Mike Bobo perimeter, but they're taking more shots. And Taylor, like, I think him against man coverage, He's like pretty unbelievable. This kid's got speed.
Starting point is 01:00:25 He runs crispy routes. I like them a lot. I think there's just a way for Georgia to wear down this Alabama defense with their offensive line. Like they're road graders. I don't love them as much in pass pro, but that's where Gunner Stockton comes into play. He's, I think, equally as good, if not bad, and Keel and Russell, of having the understanding
Starting point is 01:00:43 of winter rush is getting to him. So when the weather is good, though, I like Keelan Russell. I like the ability to push the ball down the field. and take points. And we saw a perfect example of that against Camaro Taylor. I kind of like Georgia in this. I like Georgia. I think there's still, their issue still is rushing the passer. But like I'm, I'm uncomfortable with this game. You look at both teams, you see multiple ways for both teams to kind of win this game outright. I just think Georgia and Gunner stocked in being a multi-year starter, understanding what they're supposed to do.
Starting point is 01:01:19 They just seem calm. But the number two scoring offense. in college football. One thing I think they've gotten way better at from last year to this year is first and second quarter. Being able to start faster, being able to push the ball down the field a little bit better,
Starting point is 01:01:32 and just staying on schedule. So I'll take Georgia. I'll take Georgia money line, but it's going to be like a two units. I'm not overly confident about this game. I hope the weather's good because I think there's, if the weather is good,
Starting point is 01:01:46 then it's like, it kind of is Alabama. You remember last year when Georgia went on the road to Tennessee kind of early in the year? Tennessee misses like a walk-off field goal and Georgia wins, I think in overtime, but it was a back and forth, like Georgia needed 40 to win the game. I think this could be like that. And one of the things you said that I forgot until you mentioned it that kind of leaned me towards Alabama is Keel and
Starting point is 01:02:07 Russell's had a lot of time to throw this year. And there's no defense that stands up against him having a lot of time to throw. They're like in the 80s in pressure rate so far this year. Georgia is. And that it worries me a lot. Like if I'm looking for it. for a reason for Georgia, I want it to be a Georgia game. A Georgia game to me is you hold them to 20, 24 points. You get your 27 to 30. You get out of there with a win. I think Bama's getting into the 30s because I don't think they can affect him enough.
Starting point is 01:02:35 But I'm also not ignorant enough to not think first year starter at quarterback, fifth or sixth start. Kirby and Schumann have been doing this a combined million years. They could just throw something that this dude that puts his head in a blender. I get that could happen. But that always is accompanied by you affect him. You get to him. They get to him, it's a whole new game. But I don't know that they can consistently, and that's what kind of worried me.
Starting point is 01:03:01 The thing that is kind of like, I don't know if it's a crowbar theory, but being able to affect Keel and Russell is those two linebackers. Yeah. What was it? Chris Cole? Chris Cole. You showed it in the show. Over nine number five, they can both run.
Starting point is 01:03:16 Yeah, they both are like 22 miles. They both clocked at over 22 mile an hour. so like you can put one of those guys as a spy on keelan russell so if the pressure does inevitably get to him eventually when he goes to run there are cats that can run with him yep and kind of silence that running portion of their game you imagine if we get a moment where russell's in the open field and is chris cole could chris cole hawk him oh yeah yeah yeah yeah you imagine that that's a deer bro he the effort that he shows even even last week against vandy there's one that he's he's he's humming down on the sideline, and I'm just like, bro, this dude's effort too.
Starting point is 01:03:54 Like, you have all the time in the world. But when this guy's showing up and flashing on the screen on just minimal plays where the quarterback's running for the sideline and it's, you know, it's only like a few-yard gain. But he's like hawking him down like from the line of scrimmage. I actually shot him a DM. I said, I love your fucking effort. What did he say? He put a one of these emojis.

Starting point is 01:05:18 Personally, I'm a fan of the Jack Honey. It is my favorite. It is my go-to. That's the type of guy I am on Game Day. No matter how you stack your unit, there's a Jack for every football fan. Shout out Jack Daniels. Back to this episode. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:05:31 But it just, dude, it fires me up. Like somebody, you know how it is. You see all these guys with so much ability. But do they do it on the plays that's like they're, you know, their plays you don't even notice. Their plays you're not even like looking up on the screen. Of course we can see the fumble recovery. We can see him hawking down the tier when it's like.
Starting point is 01:05:48 like a God have it moment, but like the, you know, the ones in between. The plays that don't really matter. Yeah, the plays that don't matter. He's going to go out of bounds, two, three yards down field, but he's still at a different deer. I think it's just incredible watching him in that front seven and watching guys full sprint, and he is just truly moving at a way faster rate. I think you're right about keeping up with the scoreboard.
Starting point is 01:06:08 You're saying, is Georgia going to be able to keep up with Alabama? I actually think it's flipped to where is Keelon and Russell in this offense going to be able to keep up with Georgia? because Georgia, their identity is efficiency. It's not volume. It's not explosive. It's efficiency. They run the ball really well on early downs.
Starting point is 01:06:24 One of the best offensive lines in the country. And then you look at their conversion rate on third down because they stay ahead of the change. Like they're converting like 53, 55% on third down. And then me, Gunner Stockton, you talked about how, you know, it's 38% on balls behind the line. I think the profile is very similar when we were kind of talking about Aaron Philo last week to where he hasn't had to just sit there and play quarterback because they are so efficient off. offensively. But the difference with Aaron Filo and Gunner Stockton is Gunner Stockton, you have evidence that he can win you football games. You have evidence that he can throw the ball effectively. When you dive in in numbers, like balls thrown in between the numbers, he's throwing at a 90% clip. He's 45 and 50. He's got seven touchdowns. He's got zero interceptions. So to me, this is like experience versus ability. Because Keel and Russell, like again, he's 19. He just turned 19 in April. Like you have a young cat in a spot like this. I think it goes fully on him and the receivers. Scott, who is it? Lottie Brooks.
Starting point is 01:07:21 Lottie Brooks. And then you got Ryan Williams. To me, that's the matchup on third and three to six is a spot that they're going to live in. Because Keelan Russell, he's an absolute setup, not doubting his ability whatsoever. It's just I don't think they're going to be able to stop the run consistently against Georgia. And as good as Bama has been in the run game this year, I think there's a difference between being like, you know, from a good run offense versus a great run offense. and then going against the top five rush defense in the country in Georgia, which I think they will be able to limit Alabama's run game toward Keel and Russell.
Starting point is 01:07:53 A lot of their offenses built, you mentioned Keel and Russell having a lot of time. It's like 3.14 seconds to throw the ball. Like that's just a PFF stat. But again, his average depth of target is 11 yards. So he's not checking the ball down. Like they're looking for those openings and those shots to where if you look at Georgia defensively, when you're in that third down in three to six range, they're coming after you 87% of the time.
Starting point is 01:08:18 In totality from first to third down, Georgia blitzes at a 55% clip. So they're going to come after Keelan. To where I just, he's not going to have all that time in the world. You're going to have to get him down because that's another one. Keelan Russell,
Starting point is 01:08:31 he can beat you with his legs. They do have the talent to do that. So I think it's going to come down to Keelan, being in these spots against, like, with his receivers, because you can get after the secondary of Georgia. I just I really like Georgia here. I'm going more with experience on that side with Guntherstock. And like, you know, having the question mark, can Keelan do it in this spot when you know Georgia's defense is going to be coming after you essentially all game.
Starting point is 01:08:57 Especially if you're living in that third and sixth category. A lot of those cover one peel blitzes are going to be coming after him to where there's going to be a free runner coming after him at some point. Then it's about just getting him down. Yeah. Then it's like he's got the arm. He's got the legs. Can you get him down? Is he going to be able to put the ball in those tight windows?
Starting point is 01:09:14 Can Georgia secondary cover these guys tight because Alabama's got some weapons offensively? To me, it's like this is all Keelan Russell and that wide receiver group on third day. So you're going to go to Georgia. I'm going Georgia Money Line. I'm going to do three units on that. Okay, so we're sitting there.
Starting point is 01:09:28 Fun little stat for you on Williams and Brooks. They have eight receiving players of over 30 yards. And we talked about Austin Simmons. The whole Missouri team only has seven. So that's how explosive Alabama's been with just two players. Austin Simmons is really throwing it down the field? No one mentioned that tight-in room. The guy to me that they'll be picking on is Ellis Robinson.
Starting point is 01:09:46 He's number one for Georgia. That is like one of those matchups, whether it's Ryan, whether it's Lottie Brooks, whether it's Rico Scott. I feel like that's the guy they're going to try and go after a little bit. Hey, you whispered the tight-end group. Like, is that just three guys they can play in the NFL like tomorrow? These are the best two tight-in rooms in the country going against each other. Georgia's gets the credit.
Starting point is 01:10:08 I think it's the best tight-in room in the country. Bamas is such a surprise. I don't think a lot of the outside world, like we've talked about it here on this show, I don't think casual viewers even would mention the Bama tight-in room. I think probably you and I are talking morning. The injury reports come out later today. I think there may be some tight-in presence on that injury report.
Starting point is 01:10:26 But I think, dude, they're really deep at that position, and it's just not something they had last year. Like when this game happened in Athens last year, Bama won, but they had to walk a tightrope to win it. They had to win in spite of offensive line. They had to win in spite of deficiency at tight end outside of Kwayvis, I think. Now it's, man, we think we can trust those units. We think that may be a strength of our team.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Plus, you got Keel and Russell and all that stuff. So I just think it's a far more dynamic team this year. Bro, and they block their tail off. Like you go to the first series that Mississippi State game. You got, you know, they do a lot of like 12 percent on multiple tight-in sets. Where a tight-in was lined up as a fullback, he goes through the line scrimms and he drives the middle line back from Mississippi State. Yeah. On the fumble.
Starting point is 01:11:06 Like deep, bro. There's like they're dropping dudes too when they're pulling or swaying around like they can block That's a good looking tight end room for sure yeah was it the Ford kid he like rumors right hand I think he had yeah comes back in the game for him but I heard like I was a crew Cruz saying this like this kid apparently is like beating down the door like I want to play this week yeah these guys looked apart they play the part and they love the game of football it's like it juices you up a little bit when those guys are getting real into it fires you up all right we've spend enough time on these other games.
Starting point is 01:11:38 You're going three on that, right? I'm going to go three. Yeah, I'll go three as well. All right. The big one. This is it. This is everything, man. Indiana, defending national champs,
Starting point is 01:11:51 undefeated, going to Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska is also undefeated right now. They are not ranked in the top 25. Well, in some polls. In some polls. Not the Willie C. Not the Willie C. They're in the top.
Starting point is 01:12:03 Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're up there in the Willie C. Indiana's favored, Amid a 7 and a half right now. Total points in that game is 49 and a half. We will be in Lincoln, Nebraska, for Busting and Paid on campus. We will be doing a bunch of stuff before with our tailgate tour, but all eyes, we'll be in that stadium.
Starting point is 01:12:22 90,000, I think they have over 400 consecutive sold out games there. Like, they have not won a top 25 matchup since 2016. But they look good. You've been saying for a few weeks now, like, you like this team. So much so you've mumbled yourself into saying, I love this team. When they don't have penalties. When they don't have penalties. Last week, they had 10 penalties in the first half against Maryland.
Starting point is 01:12:49 Truly, buddy, like, I'm just excited to hear you talk about this game. You have the floor. There's not a whole day. I mean, look, again, you're not going to get bulletin board material out of Willie C. It's week six at the end of the day. It's week six at the end of the day. We got a big game defending national. champs, Kurt Signetti, all of the respect in the world.
Starting point is 01:13:09 They're a very efficient offense. It's all predicated off the RPO. Josh Hoover's look damn good. Their run defenses look damn good. Like they don't have a lot of weaknesses on their team. And everything you can prop up about Nebraska statistically, you can also look at who their opponents have been. So I'm not going to sit up here and give these boys some bulletin board material.
Starting point is 01:13:32 When we got, I do like the outfit we have at Nebraska. right now and you talk about we haven't won you know in the last 10 years have I ever have I ever told you about have I ever asked you about do you know who Frank Solich is I don't believe you have because I want to I think this is a good story time right here oh so that way you understand where this Husker fan base comes from okay now I'm you know who Frank Solich is I remember at Ohio more yeah so what you're going to see with this 90,000 that we have coming in Saturday is you're going to, you're going to see a fan base that has been waiting 10 years for a game like this.
Starting point is 01:14:17 And I'm going to tell you the emotion and the look that all of them are going to have on their face because we're bubbling right now. We are very much, we got a shot in this game. Like is it David versus Goliath? Is it the miracle? It's not that wide of a gap. But this team, like we can get after this team. We really can if we take care, if we take care of ourselves and we're, we're going to
Starting point is 01:14:35 and we minimize penalties because Indiana is a very clean football team. But let's go down, let's have story time. Frank Solich, he was hired, he was the successor for Tom Osborne in 98. He was there from 98 to 2003. Tom Osborne, arguably, one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. Like Nebraska owned the 90s, Michigan won in 97. Frank Solich, he wins nine games, he wins 12, he wins 11, and then he goes 7 and 7.
Starting point is 01:15:07 Okay? He goes 7 and 7 toward the AD Steve Peterson at the time. The next year it didn't matter what Frank Solich did. The quote was, we're not going to gravitate toward mediocrity. Because 7 and 7 was the first time Nebraska won less than nine games, less than nine games since 1968. That's how this whole entire fan base has been built. So Steve Peterson, the next year, Frank Solich goes 9 and 3.
Starting point is 01:15:33 Okay, we beat a ranked Texas team and it didn't matter what was going to happen in the bowl game. Steve Peterson was like, we're done. We're out on Frank Solich because we're not gravitating toward mediocrity. We hired Bill Callahan. Bill Callahan in his first year, we go five and six, five and seven, our first losing season since 1961. So I just told you about the less than nine games. We're scared to go into mediocrity. We hired Bill Callahan.
Starting point is 01:16:00 By the way, Bill Callahan was a coach of mine in Washington. I actually committed to Bill Callaghan in 07 when he had a second losing season going to 5 and 7. That's when the Pellini era starts. We get back to win in 9, 10 games. We're there. But again, we need the 90s back. We lost in big spots. We lost three conference title games.
Starting point is 01:16:19 We got mopped by Wisconsin. We blew a 17-point lead against Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship. We lost that one second game against Texas. And we lost the teams that we shouldn't have lost to in the few losses that we would have in a year. So Bo Polini, that era wasn't good enough to what Nebraska needed to be at because we're expected to be in the national title game year in and year out. The expectations there. Sean Eichers comes in as the AD. He pushes out Bo Polini.
Starting point is 01:16:47 He pushes out Tom Hous warn. He pushes out Bo Polini. We now get into the Mike Riley era. First year, losing season. Second year when he still has some of the recruiting class of Bo Polini, he goes 9 and 4. September 17th, 2016. was the last time Nebraska won a ranked game, and that was against Oregon. That was our last winning season because the next year, Mike Riley, abysmal.
Starting point is 01:17:12 We go down, some say we might be at Rock Bottom. Little did we know. We were hitting the sides on the way to Rock Bottom. We go seven years of losing seasons. Okay? Matt Rule comes in. He doesn't inherit a team in a culture that is a quarterback away. he inherits a team that has no clue what it feels like to win anymore.
Starting point is 01:17:37 Win close games, win anything. The internals fractured, external's fractured, external doesn't know to trust the shot callers internally anymore. Matt Ruhl comes in. It's gotten to a point to where generationally in Nebraska, you're not only forgetting about where Nebraska's been, but this next generation coming in almost doesn't even know why they're wearing the red anymore because dad and grandpa keep talking about the past. And so all you have to lean on is this Matt Rule, year three is going to happen. We have our first winning season in what, eight years in year two of Matt Rule.
Starting point is 01:18:10 Year three was supposed to, it was supposed to tick up. We went in a couple of spots to where you can say the old Nebraska team loses in those spots. And then we end up having bad back half of the year with Coach Rule. To where now the question of my coming in, it's like is Matt Rule the guy? And again, I'm talking about the fan base of Nebraska. This is a history lesson teaching about Frank Sucson. and how all of this is came to be. But now we're sitting here 5 and 0 for the first time since 2016.
Starting point is 01:18:38 First time being 2 and 0 in the Big 10 since 2016. And we have the one thing that we don't have is a ranked win. The one thing Coach Ruhl doesn't have is a signature win. And you have the defending national champs coming to town to where the feeling is there that we can beat this team. But also it's almost like you can't give your heart. to this game because it could also be a letdown spot based on history. But history didn't have Anthony Calandria. History didn't have Jamal rule.
Starting point is 01:19:14 Didn't have McDougal pick six to the house because a pass Nebraska team would have pissed down their leg when Maryland's got over 300 yards of offense. We have 10 penalties and we're going to find a way to lose this football game when we had no business of losing this football game. But then McDougal comes out of nowhere and takes it to the fucking house on a slant route. When he's a cover for, when he's a cover for safety, you got Owen Chambliss, you got Williams on the edge.
Starting point is 01:19:42 I can go on on Andrew Marshall on the perimeter as a quarterback, some of the best feet you'll find in the country. And we have a legitimate shot to win this game. There's no follow-up to where there's this raw, raw, emotional speech coming. I'm just letting you know that, Just like I said about Wegman, Josh Hoover is a turnover waiting to happen. He hasn't coughed it up yet this year But you look at him on the road last year. He had 10 picks on the road at home when he was comfortable
Starting point is 01:20:10 He only had three interceptions. Josh Hoover is a turnover waiting to happen. It's gonna happen in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday And we're gonna have a game in the second half in Lincoln Nebraska. You already know Money line because I'm willing to die on Saturday So I'm five unit. You're hearing me slap the table everybody. Everybody knows Willie C is slapping the table for this game. But the 90,000 coming in have been waiting 10 fucking years for a moment like this. And that's what you're going to hear before Josh Hoover
Starting point is 01:20:42 can hear himself in his snap count on Saturday. And Nebraska's going to shock the world. Thank you. I don't know why I'm clapping. Everybody, that was beautiful. Should never left Philead to go, man. I could do a book report on Frank Solich. I can do a book report on Nebraska football.
Starting point is 01:21:07 I feel like you only tap the table. I don't feel like you slap the table though. It's a slow burn. Okay. I'm in the same prep. I'm in the same prep as Nebraska right now. It's a slow burn. Don't get affected by the noise.
Starting point is 01:21:21 Friday's gonna come. Bus on, been paid on campus. Saturday's gonna come. I am confident about this game. I just, I understand all the eyeballs and ears watching and listening right now. Big Nettie. Don't do it, Will he see?
Starting point is 01:21:34 Yeah. My God, Will he see? I was hoping. I was hoping you would. I know. I know. At what point are we going to see a slap on the table,
Starting point is 01:21:46 not a tap on the table, of the passion? When I know that media team can't turn it around and put it on a video. It's Saturday morning. Saturday morning is when we'll know. Because, Josh, you don't know this,
Starting point is 01:21:59 but every day this week, I've came and I've checked the temperature of Wilcompton. Put my hands on them a little bit. I'll tell you. Boy strong right now. Yep. I'll try wrestle them up a little bit.
Starting point is 01:22:08 A bit of no-nonsense guy when it comes to that stuff because he's an L5S1. But he's ready this week. I want to fucking see, I want to see it come out. It can't be an obnoxious confidence. This boy, this team is focused in poised right now. Psychology.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Psychology. Psychology. Hoover. Zero interceptions this year. 13 last year, but he's due for one, just like Austin Simmons. On the road. On the road.
Starting point is 01:22:33 on the road. 90,000 people. 10 years. Buddy. Red balloons. We're going to get to be there together. Oh. And I'm so happy it's not Michigan on the other side.
Starting point is 01:22:45 Same. So we get to stand there and enjoy this experience. I'm happy that Michigan and Nebraska aren't playing this year based on what I've seen the last couple weeks out of Michigan. Like I'm just happy to sit here and fall back on the three Buss and Bull championships. And it's been like, at least I have that. But I'm all, I'm all big red this week. I'm not going to slap the tail.
Starting point is 01:23:03 Do you realize how important this moment is this weekend? Yeah. Like did you learn something? I don't only learn something. Montgomery Gentry has a song about like a back of my day. That's something you should be proud of. Like it's about a kid sitting there and his dad walks in and he starts talking about the good old days. His grandfather talking about being in World War II.
Starting point is 01:23:25 And the kid would always roll his eyes. But it ended up cross-legged starry eye sitting on the floor hanging on to every word. a man the things he heard. And I feel like that little boy listening to you and just thinking like, yo, Nebraska needs this. Nebraska wants this,
Starting point is 01:23:40 Nebraska deserves this. So I'm in your corner. Am I going to slap the table? No. It's not my place to slap this table. I'm actually more interested to see where Josh goes before I say anything.
Starting point is 01:23:51 Because, like, you guys can win this game. Absolutely. We've watched it. We've talked about it nauseam. We said wait until we get to this week. Wait to week six. Wait to week.
Starting point is 01:24:01 Where are you going, Josh? What does your little microscopic computer say? It's a great question. Nebraska is its favorite play on the entire sheet. You know where this is headed, Will. Hey, he had the wrong team was favorite at the Buston Bowl last year too. Its favorite play. What are there like 40 games this week, 50 games? Nebraska plus seven and a half is its favorite play on the entire board. It's 68% cover probability. Wow.
Starting point is 01:24:32 So the story you just told, juxtaposed to this year's team and rule being 0 and 9 versus ranked teams and a whole generation now, you were right, exists that doesn't really know what the big deal is about Nebraska. We were just at a place last week that suffers a version of that. Virginia Tech, once upon a time was really good, but now there have been so many years of mediocrity or worse that if you're talking to an 18-year-old kid, they're like, why do people make a big deal about Virginia Tech? You got to open a history book and show it to him.
Starting point is 01:25:03 Dad, granddad's got to explain it to him. So it all comes down to change in how people think, right? So you think you've got a ground game this year with Nebraska. But the run defenses you faced have been 77th, 136th, 78th, 68th, 66th. Indiana's top five in the country. You also think you can stop the run. But this year, you've faced the 89th, 137th, and 113th rushing offenses. in P4. That doesn't mean, that doesn't mean, by the way, that it's fake or hollow. It just means
Starting point is 01:25:35 it's got to be verified against one of the best in the country. Okay. And that's how you change how people think. So I'm of the fundamental belief that Nebraska can make this a four-quarter game. The model also is of the fundamental belief that Nebraska can make it a four-quarter game. There's a lot of reputation, rightfully so, that's baked into that Indiana line. I'd say there's a lot of lack of reputation that's baked into the Nebraska side of that line. It's not being played in 2022. It's being played in 2006. And I remember standing there last year when we were watching a Michigan game.
Starting point is 01:26:09 And you had built up to it. And I was right there with you because I was big on Nebraska last year. And we were standing there. And even though the game ended up being close, you could see line of scrimmage. And you can see early on like, oh, man. And then there's a Hail Mary. And like you're thinking maybe we can smoke and mirror our way to this. but we're not going to win the game in the trenches here.
Starting point is 01:26:29 This is the kind of game where you hope that you've built up to the point where maybe you don't have an edge there, but you can trade punches for four quarters, line of scrimmage enough, to where defensively you can make some stuff happen. Because like Josh Hoover, it's still early enough in the year where you don't fully know who Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover is. And you can say a lot of the same things about Nebraska too. I just think Indiana is being viewed as a little bit more a known commodity than they actually are. So I independent of what William said,
Starting point is 01:27:00 always planned on walking in here and slapping the table for Nebraska, five units. Wow. Wow. Money line? Plus seven and a half. Plus seven and a half.
Starting point is 01:27:13 We go to war. So we're going to war this weekend. And what happens if we die? We fucking die. That's it. Don't forget about the theory of competition. The superior team can still get that ass war. That's what you want to leave me?
Starting point is 01:27:30 You got to call a spade a spade of spade. Like, we are the underdog in this game. Yeah. I love how you. But I like, I like the others. I like this underdog. I like this underdog. We got to turn the cameras off.
Starting point is 01:27:45 I like this team as an underdog. We got to go to the week? I'm terrified. You know my history with that team last year. Where'd you go? Oh. Oh, man. That's a great question.
Starting point is 01:27:58 That's a great question. You got some good parlays this week, ma'am. Dog of the week. You guys have space out. Like Josh Hoover's had zero interception so far. He's picking up right where Mendoza left off as far as back shoulder throws. Beck is a deep threat. I think Marsh, the Michigan State transfer.
Starting point is 01:28:18 Doesn't have as many yards as he should. Like he's an incredible, incredible wide receiver. Their offensive line seems to be owning the line of scrimmage. Turbo, that running back, like not, it takes more than just one guy to bring him down. And Nebraska hasn't been disciplined, and they have to play a disciplined game. Having, what, 10 penalties in the first half versus Maryland. 16 total. 16 total is not going to get it done against his Indiana team.
Starting point is 01:28:42 Because, Chris Ziniti Lake, they major in the basics. They are incredible at day one install a type of football to where they're not having a lot of window dressing, but they're very effective playing and play out. Where I think Nebraska has an edge in the run game is not hitting the teeth of the defense and doing the primary. You guys do a great job of pulling your guard and your side. It just kind of depends on alignment. Like if you have a three technique that tackles you're down block and have the guard in the center get out. And they are athletic enough to get bigger guys on smaller guys and cover it up.
Starting point is 01:29:11 Okay, hey, cut the bull. Where are you going? Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to go Nebraska seven and a half. Are you serious? Are you serious? Are you serious?
Starting point is 01:29:21 He says all that. Yeah. I do. I love it. I love everything you said. I love the history lesson I just got. And at the end of the day, like I bitch and moan about trenches all the time. And if I'm going to leave from the front, like, why not be a guy in a situation where everything looks to be an Indiana type of game and not sit there with my boy and be like, yeah, it's all GBR this week.
Starting point is 01:29:43 I've told you for the last three weeks, I'm with you. I'm in the foxhole. I'm not going to sit here and stab you in the back as if it's the movie Gladiator in the last scene. Like, hug me, brother, and I just stab you. Like, I'm with you. I'm with this fan base. I can't wait to be rocking red on Saturday and thinking like, I am an alumni as well. well. I can't wait to see all these kids that have no idea about 90s and the early 2000s
Starting point is 01:30:05 and have them all remember the history lesson that takes place because history has a tendency to repeat itself and I think it starts repeating itself on Saturday against Indiana. I can't believe we're doing this, but I'm excited that we're doing it. I'm excited that we're doing it. I'm all about it. I thought you were going Indiana. I thought you were going to heel turn like you did in Knoxville. I thought you were going to go hook them horns, hook them, hook them Hoosiers. I can't. Yeah. Like, there's been so many times, like, I've patted Will in the head when it's the bussin bowl,
Starting point is 01:30:34 and there's so many things where I sit back. And I'll tell you what's not going to happen on Friday. When Tom rips off a jersey and it's got 51 Will content, I'm not going to get back in the shadows and goes, at least she's got Tom. I'm going to sit there with you and be like, fuck yeah, Tom. We're all in this together. Because at the end of day, dude, got a lead from the front. Do you remember a couple of years ago, it may have been the national title game,
Starting point is 01:30:58 when McAfee is standing in the end zone and Signetti walks on the field and gave him that. Yes. Do you think that kind of stuff could happen to us before the game Saturday? No doubt.
Starting point is 01:31:07 I think it could happen to Sig before the game on Saturday. Yeah. You're going to give him. I think you beat Singh to it. Absolutely. And I think,
Starting point is 01:31:15 Maccic, you see how far away he was, but we need to be at the tunnel entrance. And it's not. When Sig is there. It's happened. We should wear all camo for that game. We should wear all camo for that game. We're going to go Dylan Stewart on that.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Yeah. Exactly. Just unload the clip on Signetti's running out. Because he's going to see this. And as much Bolton Boro material as you didn't give him, like he's going to see all three of us on Nebraska, plus seven and a half and better. You can edit that out.
Starting point is 01:31:43 Don't edit that out. Do not edit that out. Ah. This record is on. Miley is having a moment. New name, new album, and two exclusive shows. So IHR Radio is sending you to experience it all.

I was like, no, I don't want to do it. You said no? I played with players that didn't, I don't think that they really, truly love. the game, I found the love with the ball at my foot. But in my head, it was the long game. It was like, I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox. I'm going to go get some reps and I'm going to learn it

In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author Patra Mather's and her husband Michael nailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died. By suicide.
Starting point is 01:35:50 By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Patra and Michael were by all accounts, healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind? I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to I truly hope that Petro was 1,000% on board with the plan. Do you think of him as having killed her?
Starting point is 01:36:20 Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible for my mother's staff. I'm Leon Nafok. And I'm Alice Gregory. Together we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patriot and Michael's letters as one married couple trying to understand another. Listen to Death of an Artist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Super Slate bonus games. I got South Carolina and Florida. Let's rip the Band-Aid off really
Starting point is 01:36:46 quick. Florida's going to cover this game. They're going to win. Jade and Boss sat there. Tell about the model, Josh. Yeah, the any bitty tiny microscopic model likes South Carolina cover. in this game. Jaden Baugh sending a text to his coach hours after the game being, I failed you. I'm sorry. 13 yards is not going to cut. That will never happen again.
Starting point is 01:37:06 And Summerall coming back at him and being like, I understand. I appreciate you. I believe in you. We're not, we're not certain anything around. We talked about the psychological stuff with Missouri and all that. There's a huge get-back game for Florida in the swamp. Their fan base is going to be rocked. And it just, we're going to continue to see this in the SEC.
Starting point is 01:37:23 Where teams have big wins and they falter and they come back. This is no disrespect to South Carolina. You know, Cocktober, but I love Florida. And I'm high on air and fire. I think Florida wins, but I like South Carolina covering. So I'm going to take Florida cover. Mazoo kind of gave you the blueprint defensively. And if you look, it's like for me, the whole, the running offense of Florida,
Starting point is 01:37:48 because we were alluding to it during the Ole Miss LSU game. Like, hey, they're D-line. I'll talk briefly. This is kind of we were all just going to go. Hey, I like, I do like South Carolina to cover. Check me out on socials. Check me out the Fandle community. But when I was talking about Ole Miss or D-Line, they're big,
Starting point is 01:38:08 but they're almost too big, like keeping up on the perimeter and doing everything else. Like the wide zone stuff that Florida has obviously wore them down. And it was such a letdown spot to where it's like, I don't know. Again, briefly. You like South Carolina. I like South Carolina to cover. I like Florida to cover. Onward?
Starting point is 01:38:26 I'm going Missouri. to cover against A&M. What's the points in that game? Three and a half, I believe. All right. Here we go. He's looking it up. Can't spell Missouri.
Starting point is 01:38:39 It's on the Q cards. Oh, it's on the Q cards. It's on the Q cards. Yeah, it's, look, I got Missouri winning and I got Mizzou covering. Three and a half, yes. Now, where I pause is like, you can't have Mizzu drink the Kool-Aid. I have a photo, one of my sources inside the building. Kool-Aid packets are taped everywhere around that building right now
Starting point is 01:39:04 because you can't drink the Kool-Aid just because you took down Florida and had a massive win. The reason I do like Mizzou is I like this team against run first offenses. Texas A&M being one. So I like Missouri here. I like Missouri to cover at home, three and a half early game on Saturday. It's a nervous-looking game. So is this one here.
Starting point is 01:39:24 Nebraska was the model's favorite play. You want to know what the model's. second favorite play was this week tell me this one's a really disgusting Penn State plus one and a half at that point now it's crossed zero so someone else out there agreed with the model a Penn State minus one and a half don't ask me how it's the classic theory of what has been doesn't always have to be have not does not equal cannot a lot of fortune cookie stuff is what I'm throwing a good fortune goos yeah a lot of fortune hey look USC can't travel to the east coast and they should have lost to Washington last week lincoln Riley you got a piece of paper
Starting point is 01:39:55 You got me that piece of a book. Lincoln Riley 3 and 8 traveling two plus time zones according to producer Jesse. And his wins are what? Like Purdue, Rutgers. Those sorts of wins. Somebody else like that. And he was in a little, he was in a bit of a competition. We got it's the whiteout game.
Starting point is 01:40:15 We got to make sure the whiteout game sold out. It's got to be sold out. Last week was abysmal. I know all that. But like fans have to win this game for Penn State. Yeah. You got to take it upon yourself. You can't let Lincoln Riley come in your house and clown you or win anyway.
Starting point is 01:40:29 So you've got to get it done. I think you will. Penn State minus one and a half. Now, do you like, okay, minus one and a half. The model had it where? The model has Penn State winning by three and a half. Okay. Which is impossible.
Starting point is 01:40:41 I'm going to put that in my fan community. I'm going to trust your little model. I'll go model. I mean, I like that play. I like the spot for Penn State. I know Jesse is a massive nitney lion. And he kind of looks dead inside. It looks all in on the seat.
Starting point is 01:40:55 I'll tell you, if Penn State doesn't win this game, what they got next week, Penn State's got to play Michigan, and that game has still not gotten picked up by Fox or ESPN or anybody. No one has picked that game up yet. It's going to be a Big Ten network type of game. You think CW maybe? It might be something, man. It might be the Ocho. Who knows? Like, that game will be on TV, but it's going to be a whole different game.
Starting point is 01:41:16 Just local news shows up to Brock against the game? Like Jesse and I, we embrace each other just sadness for both of our teams. I do I like Michigan in that game By the way shout out the weather channel
Starting point is 01:41:27 profile on X they had a bodybagging they had a nice little they had a nice little response was it
Starting point is 01:41:32 Tennessee and who somebody said let's kick it to the weather channel the weather channel responded no good we're all set
Starting point is 01:41:40 with this one I'll say like do one of those teams gonna have a win after that game yeah somebody's gonna win
Starting point is 01:41:46 they could tie they could tie that would be that would be unbelievable unbelievable if that took place dogs of the
Starting point is 01:41:52 week. Dogs of the week. You want to go first? Sure. Maryland plus 34 and a half against Ohio State. Wow. Wild State coming off a big one against Iowa. They also have Indiana. Indiana next week. Massive game, biggest game of the college football year, basically. So sandwich right between, you got a Maryland team who seems dead inside, so I'm going to take him plus 34 and a half. Seems dead. Against Ohio State. Have they fired their coach yet? No. There's no, there's been no domino to fall in that area. It's coming. It's scary. Because Ohio State, like, it is definitely a look-ahead spot. for sure for them. But Maryland, Jesus, it doesn't matter. Beating by 30. O'I.S. I can beat him by 31.
Starting point is 01:42:28 Yeah, but do you think that's going to, what do you think about that? You ever watch the Braves game, like during the seventh ending? They do this thing called beat the freeze. It's where they line up this track star on the warning track and you get to, you get a head start to center field and then he still beats you. That is Ohio State, Maryland. It doesn't even matter. It doesn't matter. We're going to bodybag him, splattering of the week. Sarah McLaugh and Special incoming.
Starting point is 01:42:49 So you take Ohio State minus 34 now. Don't even care what the number is, yes. Yes, I would. You're that high in Ohio State? Are you that high in Ohio State or you're that low? I couldn't be lower on Maryland. Is there a shovel here? Like I would have to dig to be lower on Maryland.
Starting point is 01:43:02 But what did you say there for a second? Model likes Maryland. It doesn't know. There's only so low the model will allow a team profile to go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it doesn't know. The ingredients can be poor, but what the model doesn't know is the poor ingredients have also spoiled.
Starting point is 01:43:18 Spoiled poor ingredients. They're kids. But still, spoiled poor ingredients. All right, fair enough. Understood. Understood. I got North Carolina plus three and a half versus Pitt. We said last week the winner between Pitt and Virginia Tech.
Starting point is 01:43:30 That team's going to be ranked. Heinzel, done. Yeah, he's out. That's a sad news. North Carolina. Got the riffraff out of there. They seem to be a better team. I'm going to take them plus three and a half versus Pitt.
Starting point is 01:43:42 By riffraff, you mean the head coach's best friend, GM, and his son. I just said riffraff. I just said riff, they're playing better as a unit. The whole team's playing bad asking it. I'm not disagree. I'm just validating what she said. You put a title on it. And I got a nice handwritten letter from Bill Belichick in the offseason.
Starting point is 01:44:01 Thank you for the support and all that. And I'm like, he must have just seen one clip, not the five other fans that we had during the season. But I do appreciate it. I'm going to go Buffalo plus 20 and a half against Toledo. Model play. Model play. Just pure model. How did the ramen noodle do last week?
Starting point is 01:44:16 Not a good week. Still good on the season, but not a good week last week. With Syracuse and it? These things happen. Syracuse will. was part of what went sideways for the model. Stanford in it. Stanford was in there.
Starting point is 01:44:27 So we all went down together. So that was a look ahead weekend. Sure. Although we will not be betting Stanford this week so I don't care what they were looking ahead too. Yeah. Isn't Buffalo like 138 at 138 in offense? Doesn't matter. That's all baked into the number.
Starting point is 01:44:40 Buffalo cashed for us last week by the way. Did they? Yeah. For those of us who wrote it. Yeah. So much cherry pick. Parlay. I'm going to hit all of them this week.
Starting point is 01:44:49 You're going to hit all of them. They'll be in my Fandallel community as if they're my own. And I'll all say, It'll be on a little note of why I pick this. I'll put stats driven. It's all have that. Table driven.
Starting point is 01:44:58 Follow me on the community. Just a little noodle icon. Yeah. Parleys. I love my parlay. We got alt lines and alt spreads here. LSU, Kentucky over. Alt total of 49.5. Utah, Altline minus six and a half versus Kansas.
Starting point is 01:45:15 San Jose Money Line versus... Just money line. Just money line. You got San Jose winning the game. Yep. Oklahoma State minus six and a half versus UCF. BYU money line. I think they're favored by 10.5, 9 and a half money line.
Starting point is 01:45:30 That parley is plus 476. Solid. Iowa plus three and a half against Washington. Okay. Out in Washington. Oklahoma State to cover minus nine and a half versus UCF. Mizzou Money Line over Texas A&M. Maryland plus 34 and a half versus Ohio State.
Starting point is 01:45:49 That's plus 939. I'm going to hit you with a three-for money-line special here. Houston, Moneyline against Kansas State. Nice. UNLV, I think, is going to go beat North Dakota State this week and completely screw up what could be a premier North Dakota State versus New Mexico game next week. More on that next week.
Starting point is 01:46:10 But I'm going to take UNLV and trust Dan Mullen. And the third leg of this is Iowa Money Line against Washington. That returns plus 1041. Oh, big boy. It would be big for me. That would be. Send that to me as well. Stats driven. Community.
Starting point is 01:46:27 Feel good boys. Yeah, I do too. Bustin paid on campus, Lincoln, Nebraska this Friday afternoon. 1 and 2 p.m. Central time. Be there, support the boys. We need everybody. Go big red. Thank you for tuning in.
