This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel.
Help an Acapella band with their Between Songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice.
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What is this episode 30?
There's not a lot of athletes.
I just looked it up.
Ready when you are.
Welcome back to another episode of Inside the Bus with your host, Cooper Comstock,
Jack McPherson, Mitch Carstley, and myself, J.P. Hovey, this is a, this is an off-season
pod.
We don't have a whole lot for you guys today other than arguably the most important topic in
sports fans career and that is heartbreaks of athletes leaving your team or retiring from the
sport maybe we're going to give you our top athletes that broke our hearts due to retirement or
trades or portal whatever it may be but other than that it's a after the super bowl week it's always
like kind of a two to three week lull in the office of things trying to get figured out for next
year and guys are in and out of the office doing things so that's why we have a little bit of a
a shorter
episode for you guys.
Bit of a lighter squad.
Lighter squad.
Who would like to,
we want to talk about our weekend first?
Let Mitch Rippet about the weekend.
Yeah,
yeah,
that's right,
that's right.
This weekend was the first nice day
like over the weekend in Nashville.
I mean,
I don't know about y'all,
but like the weather was perfect
and it's like,
it's super nice out right now.
So it was like,
and Matt and I were talking about
last week on the show,
how we were going to hit
Hit the town, hit Broadway, hit Whiskey Row,
kind of just get after it for the first nice day.
Before you continue,
how many days have you been on Broadway this year?
Was that last year?
That was last year was my resolution not to go as much.
12 times total, average, lots of much.
And I, yeah, and I think I definitely broke that.
But I don't think it was like,
I think it maybe went like 15 to 20 times.
Right.
I'm just curious
You're not keeping that up this year, correct?
No, but this year I've only been twice.
It was after March 6th.
Yeah, it was after the snowstorm.
I went to the Preds game and I was only there for like an hour
So I don't know if that really counts.
And then this past weekend.
So me and my couple of my other friends are walking down to Broadway to meet up with Matt
And I get this text, it's like, bro, we're chopped.
All of y'all know Matt and his lingo and how he acts.
It's like, oh, this probably isn't that big of a deal.
But then he's like, we audible to Al Dean's Whiskey Row had the tent up still, which is, I feel like this is, I don't know, Jack, you can correct me if I'm wrong because obviously you've lived here.
But do they normally put up tents on rooftops and stuff to like for winter?
new thing because there's a spot up in my neighborhood called ricado yeah got a nice rooftop and they put up
one of those plastic tents and they've yet to bring it down when the weather's great and it's not
cold enough anymore i don't think it's gonna get cold before you require that i can see it being an issue
on broadway because it's just seven days a week people are churning out there so you gotta keep the
the patrons happy but yeah it does kind of ruin the whole vibe for sure so it's opening weekend that's
And like, you check the weather, you know all week.
Hey, it's going to be perfect out.
Matt was talking about it for three weeks.
He had the 21 day forecast pulled up and he said, Mitch, whatever it was, March 1st.
And this was back in February around the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
March 1st, be ready.
We're going to, or we're going to Whiskey Row.
And I was excited.
I like that.
Like, that is my, if I had to pick one on Broadway, that is my favorite part, especially
the rooftop because it obviously get the view of the downtown and stuff.
And like, normally they have really good DJs.
And it's like, don't get me wrong, I love live music, but sometimes like you just need some dance music for vibes and stuff.
So we were looking forward to that.
Tent was up.
Received the word chop text.
So then we just went to Al Dines and met up with Matt, Ryan, Schiff, and like their whole squad of.
Shout out Carter.
Yeah.
Shout out Carter.
Shout out Scott.
Yeah.
It was really the only two people that I know from their crew.
But we had a good time.
I mean, I had my crew.
he had his so we were kind of like separate we weren't as intermingled as i was assuming we probably
would have been at whiskey row but it was still like a gorgeous day out like matt hit it too hard on
friday night because he had to go he went to some influencer party he was in the section with the
montana boys at barstool yeah i mean just casual matt weekend i was like my personal help oh 100%
is a montana boys party at barstoress and i had literally told him i'm like matt like we have
been looking forward to saturday do not blow your life
on Friday night and get too
banged up. I get a
FaceTime him it's like 11 a.m.
just hair crazy. He's like
bro I just woke up
like what did I tell you man
he's like bro. Gia Daddy's sitting right next to you what are you
going to do? I'm like you didn't say your words where he's like no I didn't
you know it's kind of funny we haven't
I guess I don't know if we want to get into the whole
Matt abhorting mission to clump and all that because that and stuff is so
funny but what's hilarious about
it kind of being a flop like it obviously
I felt a good time.
Just not like how it was hyped up to be.
So Addie's family came in town and I was, we were driving out of, and I guess they
were at Ryan's.
We were driving out of the gate because I was taking them like her dad to see the office
and stuff.
So we were driving out and I see Ryan and the boys like fist bump because I see me and
they like, you can tell they've already been getting it.
Like the vibes are so high and they're like, I roll my window down.
I'm like, hey, we're going to the bus.
Y'all would come like kind of joke and they're like, oh, we're like, oh,
We're about to meet Mitch and clump at Whiskey Row.
Like, we're about to get active.
And I'm like, they just look so happy.
And then to hear on like Monday when like this, hey, it was a disaster.
It wasn't all that was cracked up to me.
It wasn't all.
But it was funny to see how excited they were.
Yeah.
Not that I'm like praying on their downfall.
But it's just funny.
It's just funny in hindsight because I'm like, man, they're about to have the time of their lives.
The whole clump stuff was funny because like he had said like, I'll meet y'all out.
Like, well, moved by Kloff.
clump in the first place i don't i mean he said when we had a brook's birthday party at the house and i
don't remember i think some of y'all may have came i don't know like if not it wasn't that big of
what clump had said like hey i want to roll through and like get after for like he wants to be
ferda yeah for sure and like he he makes makes an effort even if it's only for 30 to 45 minutes
like that's really all you but like he wants to feel like he has fomo for sure which is like
completely understandable but like he made it seem like he was going to
to come out. Obviously he was in communication with Matt, not me. And Matt, like, we were there
for a long enough time to where he could have been like, hey, we're not going to whiskey row.
Come to Al Dines. Like, Matt fumbled that for sure. But I mean, you y'all know, Clump, he kind
of blows it out of proportion every once in a while. But for sure.
So funny when he was telling the story that. I know. Like, he for sure, Matt did fumble and not,
like, not say we audibled, but Clump also blowing it up to a little bit more than it was. But
It was still a good time, like, seeing chef Ryan and, like, the boys get after it a little bit.
And, like, my one buddy Gabe, like, Matt was talking to a girl.
My one buddy Gabe was like, I work with that girl.
Watch this.
And, like, immediately went up and say, hey, what's up?
And then Matt, like, turned around.
I was like, what just happened?
And I'm like, charge it to the game, bro.
But they ended up just, they're like, that was just one of Gabe's co-workers.
So it was just kind of funny.
But all in all, it was a good time.
It was fun.
We'll have to.
You got to do a part two, it sounds like.
Oh, they're.
The redemption arc.
There will be a part two, and I feel, I loki, this idea just popped in my head.
I feel like it'd be fun to vlog it, but I also feel like that would be a terrible idea.
You can get, you can just get a little like mid and a half long montage.
Yeah, like, I'm going to some disco lines behind it.
We're overdue for our next ITB blog.
Yeah, the last one we did was the Carolyn one and that thing flopped.
So if you're watching this right now, go check that out.
It was a good time.
I mean, we'll guarantee, we're guaranteed to have another pool day one.
that one we have to have that
hopefully it wills
I went over in Solis house
oh true
yeah
better than Taylor's
they both bring
different aspects of it
but they're very similar pools
gotcha
same shape
same layout
where it's like
the Bahama landing
and like a little hot tub area
yeah I just need some water
and a tea
it'd be a great
it's a great place
to play the tea game
so
yeah I'm assuming he has a deep end
tea
yeah
yeah I think so
I went over there during
the ice storm
so
yeah
But also on the note of weekends
I look he had a hitter of a weekend
I went to an always sunny in Philadelphia themed
DJ said
And it was unbelievable
My buddy was opening for this guy
Tristan who's a friend of the show
Tristan Thompson
Shout out the boy
He's not to be confused with Tristan Thompson
But yeah
He came in
And I thought he just wanted to go and support his buddy
And then on Friday night he's like
Dude I'm opening for this guy
And I was like, well, this is going to run.
I ended picking up the guy from the airport the next day.
I'm like running around, shuttle on people.
The original location they were going to do that did not have an LED wall.
And the show is like very visually dependent on all these time codes that match with the music
that have like clips from the show mixed in with like trippy visuals.
And the guy's like, I might cancel it.
I'm like, I'm like, why would you cancel?
Like you just play music and people are going to dance.
They end up switching into a different location in East National.
we're called The Office.
If any of the listeners know about the office,
you know that it's a little dungeon in East Nashville
that plays some solid house music.
And it was so much fun.
We had a bunch of friends show up.
I was decked out and always sunny a year,
having probably too much fun,
really tired on Sunday,
leave it at that.
But it was a good time.
And I hope that there's more things like that.
I forgot how much I love house music.
And I know Matt Malone would identify with this.
It's probably good.
They don't understand.
It was good.
I had to go on my weekend.
I'd see some friends.
How does,
how does, like,
like an always sunny DJ set kind of like is trippy to me.
I don't understand how that like works.
So like it was just like a house set with like the music they were playing was awesome.
But in between songs,
they would kind of thread like funny one-liners from the show or like, you know,
running jokes that they had.
if you ever watch all this sunny Philadelphia
and like there's a couple songs like
from the show that they would mix in music
and it was a blast
they were all like there's so many people dressed
up like in costume
which I didn't anticipate
overall great participation on
on the crowd and and the DJs
it worked out well man we had fun so for
for lack of a better term like a big
booty mix type yeah yeah yeah
that could lay in that length for sure
it was a little like deeper house but I'm not going to
get the semantics of it all
it yeah so but overall go to more house shows that's my i'm gonna try to do that slept on if part
of adulthood is themed parties i swear man there's no better excuse to get dressed up than just
going out and dancing and have fun of your friends so shout out to the people that put those on too
comment the next uh theme party that we should attend yeah or throw yeah or throw we might just
take matters into our own hands and step up yeah just have a party at the shop that would actually be so
What did I always think it's kind of funny like when you showed Addie's parents the shop
What was their reaction? Because so many times dads especially like so this is where y'all work
Huh? So I wish so her family was in town but her her mom was in town it was her dad and her sister so her sister got a job in Nashville
Congrats to her she's moving here soon so shout out Eddie sister we went and looked at like where she's working and
I did all that but I showed them here and uh yeah it's always hard to give a tour of this place because it's like
you walk in and like you like like her dad's all about it so that's good it was fun and you know like
showed him the bus and but it is funny we walk in uh like have a basketball hoop and a keg
it just like trying to explain like yeah like we do have a meeting room though like this is our
meeting room and like here's our streaming room yeah yeah where's the bus oh it's on the other
side of like where we do all our shows but it it was fun i i always
enjoy being like a little tour guy and showing people to shop because it's such a different world
that people get to experience. They're so normalized. Then when they come in, you kind of see
like, oh, wow. Yeah, like this is a very interesting thing we have going. A few weeks or months ago,
I don't even know how long it's been. Addy has a friend who her and her husband are like big fans of
busing. They watch all the shows. And so they're in Mississippi and they came to Tennessee and
showed them around and it was awesome to show them around. Like they're hitting Will's post.
in front of the bus and every every like just marquee spot of the shop they're just uh like getting a
picture of like delaney's jersey and stuff because they're big titans fans too that's awesome but like
nights like that or whenever i'm showing some of the office and they're like about it it is so
cool because i'm just like it gives a good reset yeah i'm like oh yeah this is like the the locker room
set but they're like oh this like clay's like all the all the NFL gear that's like oh yeah that's like
Oh, yeah, that's like a, that's a pro ball jersey.
And I don't think about, right, like if you're a football fan and you're going to see how cool that.
I did that one with like, yeah, here's Taylor-Lawand, Taylor's helmet.
This is his Titans one.
This is Michigan one.
They're like, whoa, this is so sick.
Yeah.
It's like, we do get like numb to it all.
And like, it is kind of cool to like see other people happy.
Yeah.
That's always my favorite part.
It does Addies that, this he like consumed podcasts?
I don't know the extent of podcast.
I don't think so.
I think, I mean, he's like obviously aware of ours.
Has he ever asked you the question?
So how do podcasts make money?
No.
Dude, that's like one of,
but I have been asked like,
yeah,
dude,
when I first got the shop and I was explaining to like family friends,
like in the summer,
like out of the lake,
I go and,
you know,
like answer all the questions.
Yeah.
I'm just like,
I don't even know how to explain this.
I know.
They're just kind of like,
oh, cool, cool.
Like, oh, you do graphic,
you do what?
Yeah.
I'm like,
oh,
that's hard to,
it's always so hard.
It's hard to explain.
Since parents are like a little bit older too.
They're in their 70s.
And, you know, still to this day, I don't think they fully understand, like, the concept
of the podcast basically being run like a local TV or a radio station where we make money
the same way through advertisements.
And I've had to explain it to them so many times.
And I'm just, I always laugh inside because I know inside his head, Mr. Furman said he's
probably like, dude, there's no shot that anything he's saying is.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with
Robert Smygel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
It's actually real.
Yeah, I'm lucky.
See how long this last.
I'm lucky because I know Addy explains it to her family far better than I could.
So.
So.
She could just explain.
Just like, oh, yes.
But the last thing is, I don't have to explain like, they know, like, they're in the
literally.
She's done the work.
Yeah.
She's better with words.
So it's like, I'm just showing.
Yeah.
They're like, they're to know.
Have you had to try to explain it to Shannon's parents?
No, I haven't even met Shannon's parents.
I will, in a month they're coming.
Blog opportunity.
Coop said vlog opportunity.
Yeah, for sure.
I'm pretty sure her parents a little more traditional too.
But he, I don't know, I don't want to talk to much about their parents before I've met this.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm excited.
I'll definitely keep you guys in the league.
She does graphic design, so I feel like they're a little bit aware of.
They understand it because she does, yeah, very similar lane that I do.
Yeah.
Like, I understand, like, when I'm trying to explain my job with somebody, a lot of times I'll end up just being like, I'm a producer of a show.
Exactly.
Like, I can try and get into the weeds of it.
And they're like, oh, okay, cool.
Yeah.
But, yeah, I am a little nervous out of a lot to meet Shane's parents.
Bro, it is so, it's scary to meet, like, somebody's parents.
Well, she told me her dad is not a fan of tattoos.
And he knows what I'm talking, no.
But I'm like, oh, man, it's like, hopefully it's going to be one of those.
It's going to be warm outside, too.
It's a cold weekend.
I'm like, hey, I'm just jackets all, like back when I'm in college, trying to hide my tattoos from our parents.
But it'll be cool.
He's, he kind of like keeps tabs, like, from far.
Like, I think he enjoys kind of what we do.
And which kind of makes me nervous because I know stuff we talk about.
It's nothing to stay.
A good stream on that last post, Jack.
Really didn't think about that.
But, yeah, well, now I'm, I'm anxious.
We go to Jack's Instagram tomorrow.
it's everything's been archived.
Hey, you gotta borrow Jared's
meta glasses.
Honestly,
I'm gonna bring,
I'm glad you mentioned
bringing ad experience here
because I'll definitely have to bring them to the shop
and they're probably gonna have the same reaction.
And honestly,
it helps like,
I mean,
I already,
like,
had met her dad and her sister
and,
like,
the people that I brought here
had been hanging out before that.
But it helps,
like,
loosen up,
like,
any awkwardness when you can kind of just walk around.
Yeah.
Kind of just be like.
You have things to explain a little bit.
Yeah,
things to talk about.
It's just,
It'll make it easy.
You guys want to get around in?
Look at this clip that I had from last week.
It's where Kube dominates on the Kexpert.
Jack and J.P.
Talk about their Twitter career earnings in the back corner.
Shout out, Elon.
The next topic, unless...
Yeah, something happening.
Yeah, unfortunately, Kup had to experience a little bit of heartbreak this path, I guess, yesterday.
When Kyler Murray, K-1.
And it sucks when you know it's coming to.
what was it like when you when you got that news well i can i want to i'll i'll dig into
kiler but i want to go last because i you know that comes with a store that's like you're right
that's like i just can't see him in any other jersey too which is that and also like for me that's
always worn red yeah that's a journey that i feel like i've been on since middle school yeah so
i'll get he's a texas guy too exactly that's why i'll get in that i got i'll start with a few
other ones from when i was younger because these are just kind of funny uh
a like big Rangers fan.
As you all know, big baseball fan.
And when you're 10 to 14, it just matters more.
Like I can live a little bit more with Kyle.
Like I understand, you know, what's going on, the business of all.
You've grown up.
You're a little bit of mature.
Yeah, you know, I'm not 13 anymore.
Even though I'm still heartbroken, it hits different.
Yeah.
But Ian Kinsler was my favorite player on the Rangers.
And they traded him for Prince Fielder, great player.
And, but he was my favorite player.
And I just remember the breakup being so bad.
Like Ian Kinsler publicly said, I hope the Rangers go 0 and 162.
And I was like, damn.
What do I do?
After all I've done for you?
I'm like, dude, I was your biggest fan.
My cousin called you Popout Kinsler every time you grew up to bat, and I almost threw hands.
So that one was tough.
And then Prince Fielder, you know, the new guy.
And then you start to like him.
I start to warm up to him.
He's a good player.
Like, he's good.
I get his jersey.
I kid you not the next day
Surprise retirement
Did he like break his neck or something?
Yeah he had like neck issues
And it was like a like an unscheduled
Like just pop up
Press conference
I'm done
Just bought his jersey the day before
Just fully like had bought in
And when you're 13
That's something you don't heal from
You feel responsible
You're like I
This is a jersey curse
We all have jersey curse
We all have jersey curse
How did you feel about when
Like Josh Hamilton
Everything happened
because he went from Rangers to Angels.
Yeah, the Hamilton stuff is so different because, I mean, he was so good.
He wasn't even like a niche play.
Like, Kinsler was good.
Like, those teams were good.
Kinsler was like, like, my hero.
Like, Josh Hamilton was MVP.
Yeah.
And then, you know, like all the off the field stuff.
And he just, like, felt different.
And, like, when he left it, you know, like, I still understood all those stuff that it was still sad.
But I was like, third time, like, oh, he must be a bad person.
because it was funny about Josh Hamilton though is he's not a bad person
stay with me from North Carolina too by the way stay with me my sister
played softball in the same like league as his daughter as Hamilton's daughter and he would
always just be at the park like just playing football with like the boys just catching like
before the game like when the softball player went all them warming up like he was just like a dad
and he would he was super cool like it was just like it was just like
Like all these little kids are obviously fans.
I think Island was around him when he did that once, like throwing the football.
But like he would do, I didn't go to all the games, but he would throw the football around.
He was cool.
Yeah.
And then all the problem, like, so, you know, shout out Josh Hamilton.
Shout out Josh Hamilton.
But those all hurt.
And then y'all, do y'all want me to get into Kyler?
I feel like I'm talking too much.
Do you need some time?
Y'all, y'all do some of yours because I got me and Kyler go back.
Mitch, you said you had.
Yeah.
I mean, as a chief's guy, well, to talk about baseball first, I was a Mets fan strictly because of Jose Reyes and David Wright.
And then everything that happened with them, like I was, like once they got shipped out or I think Jose Reyes got busted for drugs or something.
So it's like that's such a good pool.
I haven't heard of Jose Reyes on years.
And he was like the cover of baseball game.
I think it was 2K.
2K 11 maybe.
I was almost going to say 7 or 8.
No, yeah.
It was like 8.
Yeah.
But like that those were my baseball guys.
But then football-wise, like being a Chiefs fan,
the three guys that I can think of the most are Jamal Charles,
Larry Johnson, and Eric Barry.
And like the Eric Barry story arc, Jack,
obviously, you know from him being a vol.
But like him getting cancer and then missing an entire year
and then coming back for the season opener.
Did he have a pick six?
I'm pretty sure.
He at least had interception.
Yeah.
Yeah, great.
one of those God moments.
Yeah.
Where it's like this is,
this was like going to happen all along,
kind of like how after the DeMarre Hamlin stuff,
that the bills were going to take the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
Right.
That's one of those things where it's like,
it was written already kind of thing.
Yeah.
Script is nice.
Those two,
those are three guys were like,
I have a Larry Johnson jersey.
I have a Jamal Charles jersey.
It's like when me and my brother were playing football in the side yard,
like I'm wearing those jerseys and I'm like acting like
Jamal Charles trying to be super fast.
Larry Johnson, like trying to truck my brother kind of thing.
Those are players where it's like, oh, I'm Larry Johnson right now.
Oh, I'm like, as everybody kind of has when they're playing like their backyard sports.
But those three guys were, it's like, damn, that one.
Those ones hurt.
Yeah.
I can go.
Mine's quick because I'm not a massive pro sports guy, but I do have one.
What are your socks, though?
True.
I am a titan.
Like, socks do go hard.
They do.
I would like to be a Titans fan.
I just, I hate that.
that I'm I mean I'm pretty close by low yeah by low it but I still feel like the low is I still
I haven't put in that that pain you got to earn it I you got put in the pain I think just
associating your brand and identity with Titans is enough pain that you're in so I'm a titans
hey just wait till the Falcons get Kyler Murray you'll be back on board true and that's it's like
you know I never left the Falcons but if I had to give it
athlete he didn't retire anything but Michael Vic and I was you know one of Michael
Vic's number one fan the black jersey was my first NFL jersey I ever owned and when
you're in the front yard everybody's Michael Vic and you know I went to the lengths of after
he got arrested I was still I'm in the court case looking like are we sure this is what
happened and him and Josh Hamilton man who are we looking up to I know I'm like and you know
are there pieces that you know maybe the media is not telling us so I'm
I'm learning, you know, hey, Michael Vick, he was never in attendance of the dog fights.
It just happened on his property.
Then I'm hearing, you know, maybe he went to jail for tax evasion, not the dog fighting.
So I'm looking for all these excuses so I can still argue for him at the lunch table.
And maybe that wasn't the greatest look on me.
But I promise you, he's not a bad guy.
It was his cousins, man.
It was all of them.
He wasn't locked up for life.
I mean, he came back and played, so there's something there.
There's something there.
Which was awesome.
But it hurt me when he left the NFL.
Eagles, Vic was good.
I remember when, like, obviously being, like, outside of Philly and everybody around
these Philly fans, like, I remember watching, like, the local news, and there were people,
like, picketing at, like, the Eagles facility pissed that they, that they signed Vic,
and they were literally saying, hide your beagle, Vicks, and Eagle.
Like, and it was all over, like, local Pennsylvania news stations.
Wasn't he right after McNab, too?
I think there was, there was a year in between.
I think it was like Kevin Cobb or something.
Yeah, I pretty sure.
Kevin Cobb, I didn't.
But then, then Vic came in and it was like Vic and then Foles.
And it was kind of back and forth a little bit for a bit.
Because I'm still, I had on, they did like a documentary series on Norfolk State where he's coaching right now.
And it's on BET.
And when I'm watching all the behind the scenes of Michael Vick's life, I'm just like, God, I love this guy so much, man.
Like, he just needed love in his life.
I could have given it to him.
I could have given it to him back then.
I was 11.
But yeah, so I would say him.
And then other just pain ones, my number one pain, I guess, would probably be an injury taking
away Marcus Laddimore from my Gamecocks.
That one stings.
Or tray Smith, another injury that happened to a South Carolina receiver.
But that's kind of my extent.
Jack, what about you?
I hate this question.
not only as being a Titans fan,
meaning you're subjected to life and pain and misery.
We've also had a handful of great players leave.
Starting back at the beginning with Steve McNair.
Steve McNair, you went and played with the Ravens,
entered his career there.
People forget, any George ended his career in Dallas.
And those were two of our franchise guys
that really stapled what the team was
and gave it identity.
And then you obviously can talk about Derek Henry,
AJ Brown, Kevin Byer, Dorell Casey,
Logan Ryan
Johnny Smith
I mean I wouldn't even throw
Tano in there
because he just retired
Ernest Jones
Yeah Marriota
Marriota
I mean there's so many
If I had the pinpoint one that hurt the most
It's probably AJ Brown
Just because of the
The platform that it happened on
At the draft
I'll never forget where I was
I was in Knoxville Hotel
With Thomas another friend of the show
And I was taking the shit
And because I work for my job here
I always have pushed notifications on.
I just see my phones are blowing up.
And the jersey curse, I just got an AJ Brown jersey.
It's real, dude.
The jersey curse is real.
And then I get another jersey for the Titans.
And Nate Bain, shout of Nate Bain, homie.
We need to get Nate on the show, too.
Yeah.
A good one.
But he gave us all custom whirler's jerseys.
And this is right before we signed or drafted Will Levis.
My favorite number is 8.
and I chose eight
only for Will Levis to be number eight
and it's like, it says Mac on the back
and so many people, like my friends will fuck with me
and they're like, damn, like wearing that Levis jersey again
and I'm like, whoa, stop.
I'm up to like tape like a one on it.
And the jersey's so fired too.
It is.
I'm wearing it all the time.
I'm like, whatever.
But yeah, the Titans have been littered
with a bunch of guys that have left
in unfortunate circumstances.
But, I mean, that's why we love this game, you know.
It's the beautiful game.
Julio Jones.
Yeah.
D.Hop.
Adrian Pearson.
Adrian Peterson.
Hey, Cardinals Legend too.
Cardinals Legend.
But yeah, it's good to talk about this stuff.
Guys need an outlook for this kind of thing.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, news?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called,
Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember
I think it was on a call about what we should call it
And we were thinking
I'm originally calling it
One of the early names of our band
Before Jonas Brothers
This is how you guys remember it going down
Yes I have a very different memory of this
We were talking about a thing
A bit for the podcast
For people could call in and say hey Jonas
And then I wrote down on my little notepad
Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title
For the podcast
But thanks for remembering that
guys listen to hey jonas on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcast just listen
we don't care where you hear it another podcast from some s nl late night comedy guy not quite
unhumor me with robert smigel and friends me and hilarious guests from bob odenkirk to david
letterman help make you funnier this week my guess s n l's mikey day and head writer streeter sidel
help an acapella band with their between songs banter where does your group perform we do some
retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Yeah.
You can't talk about, you know, your feelings and really what goes on in your head
when your favorite athlete, it's most likely younger than you now at your current age.
But that's live.
That is live.
Should I get into it?
You got to get into it, man.
I'm ready.
Also, I didn't even mention this one, and I'm not going to get into this one.
It'll actually get me mad.
Oh.
Luca.
Yeah.
But I feel like everybody knows how just stupid that.
I'm not getting into it.
I'm not getting upset today.
Yeah, I'm not getting upset today.
Only about Kyler.
The sucky part, you got to realize about the Arizona Cardinals is they've had one good quarterback in their franchise history before Kyler.
And it was Kurt Warner for a couple years.
And obviously you saw they went to the Super Bowl as a wild card, like, came that close.
I was still really young when that game happened.
It doesn't hurt as much.
So all I've really known is like one playoff run and then despair.
And for Kyler, when I'm growing up in DFW like in middle school,
all you hear about is Allen High School,
Kyler Murray, this is the best high school football player ever.
Like he doesn't lose.
How far is that from your hometown?
Alan?
Yeah.
It's all DFW.
So they would play state championship.
championships in state playoffs at Cowboys Stadium.
Now they do it at the Star.
And people would go just to watch Kyler Murray play.
He's a Texas high school legend.
You know, he's got all these offers.
He's number one recruit, all that.
You know, he goes crazy.
Like, we're in middle school.
Like, high schoolers feel older than high schoolers.
So, Kyler Murray, in my mind, when I'm in middle school,
is just some legend.
Grow up a little bit.
You know, he goes to A&M kind of is an after.
to thought you're not really thinking about Kyla Murray at A&M.
He played a few snaps there.
You know, kind of like, you know, I'm not thinking about
about to go to college.
I get to college, first year of college,
all of a sudden, Kyler's at OU. He had backed up Baker the year
before. He's, I'm, I went to Oklahoma State, so
I'm not rooting for Kyler Murray, my freshman year
of college. It's called Kyler Murray. Yeah, it's, I'm not
rooting for him. I don't like them.
That's, I feel like that's pretty fair, natural.
But I'm watching the Cardinals just
stink it up with Josh Rosen.
The Rosen one.
So freshman year of college I'm watching the Cardinals.
Stink up with Rosen, we stink.
We're back, I mean, we're right back to where, you know, we never left.
But.
Spare.
Yeah.
Fast forward to the draft.
Kyler Murray comes in.
He's going to be the savior of Arizona.
And what sucks so bad is I'm back on Kyler Murray.
Like, I'm like, okay, I've been following his career.
Like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,
And he wins rookie the year.
He shows all these flashes.
All these flashes.
His second year is even better.
He's pro bowler.
He's showing all these, like, he looks like an MVP candidate at the beginning of the year.
And then, you know, the second year, you know, they're still rebuilding.
They're not as good.
They fall off the second half the year.
It can be kind of written off.
Third year, they start eight and no.
Like, they look unstoppable.
Kyler opened with, like, one of the greatest opening week performances by a quarterback ever,
statistically.
here in Tennessee
against the Titans
like he just went off that game
and I was like we are
like that's a Taylor game
no no no it was
it was yes yeah
so the Cardinals looked like world beaters
the first eight weeks of the season
Kyler kind of gets hurt
at the end of the Packers game they lose on Thursday night
first lost really good Packers team
AJ Green forgot to turn around
he's an idiot
honestly that might have been the downfall of the Cardinals
So the Cardinals kind of spiral out of control after that,
and it's just like never the same.
And Kyler this past season, you know, like takes a bullet off the head
and the Titans game never comes back in for the rest of the season.
People are talking about how good Jacoby Brissette is,
and even though they didn't win a single game with them.
The year before, you know, Kyler was first half of the year really good,
and then they fell up second half of the year.
It was another coaching change, so you can kind of write out like,
okay, well, they're showing progress.
And then it gets hurt this year and you just kind of know, like, this was the year.
And I knew that going in.
And I know I said that before the season, like, this is like a year, this is like, it has to happen this year.
And then it just doesn't.
And out of all the people, it's easy to ride for Larry Fitz growing up because there's proof.
Like there's nobody's refuting Larry Fitz or Dirk Novitsky.
So Kyler's the first one.
I legit have to argue for him.
No one's arguing against all these other players that I've grown up loving.
And so I just, I really wanted it to work out.
Not even for, and I'm wherever he goes, I will be rooting for that team.
Like, if he goes to Minnesota, I kind of want him to go to Minnesota.
And I just want him to win like 12 games and go to play out.
And like, they didn't have to win a Super Bowl.
Yeah.
I need people to see what I saw.
I know y'all get that.
I get that.
But it just, the Cardinals are releasing him.
just sucks because like I just felt so right and then and then you're just wrong it sucks you can just
all I was riding for for seven years I was just wrong at the end of the day and I still don't feel
like it wrong but I have to like kind of admit it like no it just didn't work out didn't work out
but this story's not over all of the pauses and stuff and that like you can just feel cooped working
through his thoughts and just feeling all of the when he started saying this was the year I think
as a sports fan, the most stressful time of your life
is the preseason before you know what is the year?
I put out so many tweets saying this is it.
I ate a lemon for him.
Literally.
I could have eaten a lemon in week four.
That's how south it went.
Preseason of the year, man.
So all you are ahead of the Titans of the draft,
which I still don't even know how the Titans are the fourth pick.
It's because, I mean.
Cam Ward Effect, baby.
That watch party, the Cardle's Titans
Titans.
Man, mean, Adityliff.
Cardinals were up like 21 to 3.
Mean Addy left, like, we'll watch the rest of the game of home.
Like, Sia Anara, suckers.
And then we get home and it just starts crumbling.
The Tiberius.
The Tyler Lockett touchdown.
If you want to call it a Tyler Lockett touchdown, I don't even know.
The Amari Di Mercado probably cost Kyler Murray's career.
It's honestly, like, there's so much that happened that game that is just ridiculous.
But anyways, I got to move on.
What sucks is we're about to get Malik Willis,
and it's like, that's like the, we have Kyler at home.
Dude, Malik to Marvin?
Someone called Malik to Mike Willie.
True.
Yeah, but I just see Cardinals Twitter, like,
we're leading the Malik Willis sweepstakes.
Sweep stakes.
He'd get paid.
He'd get paid 50 million for two years.
Hell no.
He just needed one.
But you got a ride for him.
You know that.
Yeah, well, it's going to be a tough year.
You do.
There's all different kinds of fans in the world.
I feel like you are definitely a fan.
They're like the player does have to work for it.
Yeah.
And that's what people didn't see with Kyla, man.
They thought he just didn't work for it.
Yeah.
All these cod graphics, which were hilarious.
But you'll see Kyler.
You'll see him.
Where would you like to see him end up?
I want either Minnesota because I, like, they're,
like they're...
In a purple jersey kind of doesn't.
I can't see them.
The thing, what's funny is he grew up a Vikings fan
kind of on some bandwagon and stuff
because he said he didn't grow up a...
Well, he said he didn't grow up a Cowboys fan
because they were ass.
That was Oklahoma State, Coop talking right there.
Yeah, I got my crept out a little bit.
Is this what it feels like to have an X?
This sucks.
You're on good terms with.
Yeah, and I'm going to go see him do good for Minnesota.
I wanted to go to Minnesota.
I kind of want to say Steelers, but I just, I don't know.
No, you don't want Steelers.
I want him to have weapons.
like you think he ever changes the number?
No, he's K1, man.
It's either K1 or K9.
Yeah, but there's already K9.
He's been, he's been number one.
I was talking about Kenneth Walker.
That's Kenne Walker's the name.
I was thinking, yeah, something else.
But like he's been one since wherever.
Since birth.
He's K1.
I don't know, like, I don't even care what his number is.
Just go ball out.
I don't know where else he would go.
Another interesting one, and it would kill me,
but I would, it would be just poetic justice.
is for the Cardinals organization,
which I support,
is if he went to the Rams,
Stafford, like...
Dude, I was thinking about that, too.
There's people that think he could go to the Rams
and take over for Stafford when Stafford's done,
watch Kyler whoop the Cardinals' ass twice here.
I mean, we already lose to the Rams twice here anyway.
Because whoever's getting him's getting them on the minimum.
Yeah, the Cardinals owe him money.
Yeah.
Which good for him.
Fuck the Cardinals.
Feel good?
Yeah.
Coupe is in such a toxic relationship with the car dogs.
I just be talking about just a random BS down, but
moral of the story is it sucks.
You'll be all right.
You'll make it through.
I hope so.
I don't even care if I make it through.
I want Kyler make it through.
Damn.
Well said.
Higher purpose.
It's a good deal.
Let's do it.
What are we at?
37, 38.
Episode 38.
That might be.
That might be.
I think that's a sign.
That is a good sign.
See you guys.
